Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

2. I used a range of software for this project; the
software I used for this was mainly Microsoft
Word, Blogger and Photoshop. Yet I also used
PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
3. The main hardware I used was a digital camera, a
memory stick which was essential, a computer which
it would have been pretty much impossible if I didn’t
use, and an SD card for the camera. For my research I
used mainly internet explorer to search certain
magazine styles.
In these pictures below i was testing what certain
pictures would look like and evaluating them just for
practice for when i had to do it about my magazine. I This style sheet helped me
mainly showed what they were wearing and what understand what should really go
props they are using and what they did to the photos. on my magazine, and what i should
For example, darkened photos. Brighter photos, and include.
just black and white photos. These effects make the
pictures look more authentic and professional.
4. I also used survey monkey for my research, if I didn’t
use survey monkey I would have had to do it hand-
written, which would have taken a long time. I used
my memory stick quite frequently for this project.
For planning I used Microsoft word to spell check, as
Photoshop doesn’t have its own spell check. For the
surveys I used survey monkey, in which I got 15
responses which really helped with the audience I
was looking for. For production I mainly used
Photoshop, it’s really easy to go back and edit any
mistakes you have done. I also used a camera in
which I took photos at a gig at the venue Fibbers, in
York.
5. After doing the work in Photoshop I uploaded my 3
pages onto Blogger, in which it gets marked. For my
evaluation I am using Microsoft word, it is very simple
and easy to use, I can also spell check when I am done.
I could hand write my evaluation but it is neater and
less time consuming to do it on the computer.
I can simply copy and
paste the work from
word into PowerPoint
after spell checking.
I wouldn’t have been able to do my project if I
didn’t use any technology, it would have been too
time consuming, especially hand writing my
questionnaires. I believe I could have done my
project without Microsoft word, I could of hand
written it, yet again, and it would have been too
time consuming.
6. I probably could have done my project without a
scanner, as I only used the scanner for research,
scanning magazine covers. The piece of technology I
couldn’t have done without is Photoshop, it was my
main editing software, it was the most useful
programme I used and I learnt how to use it at a basic
level.
The positives of using technology such as
computers, laptops and matchbooks are it is
allot more productive and allot quicker. I
wouldn’t have been able to get photos for my
project if I didn’t use a digital camera with an Scanning a magazine cover and
SD card. Sometimes the negatives about using contents for magazine
technology are major faults with the software. research.

7. Such as Blogger, and not being able to upload
things to the website. As soon as you learn
how to use some of the more basic
programmes such as Microsoft word it is allot
easier to use more difficult programmes such
as Photoshop and Survey monkey.
This is my blogger page. It sometimes
doesn’t allow me to upload certain things
such as style sheets and magazine
analysis. This is a down side of using
technologies such as blogger and internet
explorer.
I found that using Photoshop was one of the
more difficult programs to use. I often lost
my work as the computer couldn't save such
a big file to its hard drive, therefore i used a
memory stick.
