  that everything links together. The same title,
  time, date, programme title and slogan are
  effective features used within the
  documentary, the radio trailer, and the print
  advert. This is effective through the idea that
  it reinforces throughout the main facts about
  the documentary. All three work together in
  creating

Over the years scousers have been portrayed as thieves, curly haired chavs and Liverpool is seen as somewhere that police sirens are heard just as often as the Beatles.

But in fact liverpudlians are renowned for their love of their hometown and the people in it

their massive music scene and their iconic accent.


Sound as a Pound is taking you on a journey up the Mersey to discover the reality of the place affectionately known as “the pool” and the scousers who live there.


Calm down, calm down it’s only a documentary.

• The theme of Scousers/ Liverpool is kept throughout the
  documentary, print advert and radio trailer; this is done in many
  ways: For example in linking the documentary and advert the same
  voiceover is kept. The voiceover is significant due it being the voice
  of a scouse male, the scouse accent is known worldwide more so
  than many other regional accents. This is also done through
  voxpops used within the documentary being used for the radio
  trailer of real scouse people. This is an immediate association with
  Liverpool. In addition to this is the slogan, the slogan is a pun upon
  a typical scouse/ liverpuddlian phrase. The slogan is featured within
  both ancillary texts. The presentation of the slogan on the print
  advert is significant, ‘CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN...its only a
  documentary’, the use of capitals is a way of presenting the slogan
  as it would be said, stereotypically there would be more emphasis
  upon ‘calm down’. All three productions coincide in creating the
  stereotypical scouse sound.
• The striking image of the newspaper advert links
  with the documentary and radio trailer because
  the viewer can clearly state the obvious that the
  print advert is about Liverpool. The print Advert is
  a picture of the River Mersey which is featured
  within the documentary. This is significant
  through during the documentary some filming is
  done whilst on the Liverpool Ferry, whilst in the
  river. This links the two in the sense that the
  advert shows you Liverpool but the
  Documentary/main production will take it to a
  new level.
