This document discusses how a media product represents various social groups through its characters. It analyzes the representation of social class, age, gender, and ethnicity in the opening of the media product. For social class, the characters both reinforce and challenge stereotypes of the upper and lower classes. For age, the younger character owning the mansion challenges stereotypes. For gender, only including male characters upholds stereotypes. For ethnicity, only including white characters reinforces stereotypes about white criminals being of higher status than non-white criminals. In conclusion, the representations both use and challenge stereotypes, but could improve representation of other groups going forward.
