Opening Sequence
 My opening sequence was intended and created to use
conventions from current and previous media in order to make
a recognizable image that would involve and potentially
entertain and scare my intended audience. For example, from
doing research of similar opening sequences, I noticed that
within all the opening sequences there was some sort of theme
being illustrated.

Insidious vs. My Opening Sequence
 Insidious used a stronger text
and colour to give a horror feel
to the title, whereas mine was
more simple.
 However I did you the flickering
idea that they used on the text,
and that really impacted how my
title came across.
 Furthermore I tried to also use
images/videos to set the scene
and give the audience an idea
about what is going on, as the
opening sequence did with the
different pictures.

Camera Work
When doing research and looking at three opening
sequences, the use of camera work is very
important. The audience should be able to easily
understand what the film is trying to say. With this
shot in particular I wanted the audience to see a
conversation between these two characters

used this in the opening sequence for
the audience to identify one of the key
scenes.

Sound
 The music used for various horror opening sequences was
usually a piercing sort of screaming sound. With the main
instrument being a Piano. However for my opening sequence
the music used a lot of voice and laughter, but when it was
slowed down it gave the opening sequence a dark feel, and
improved how the titling looked. This was one of the way I
challenged a generic form and convention of horror film
opening sequences.

The setting
 The main setting of my horror film was a forest, and this was
shown in the montage at the beginning and end of the opening
title. The reason I used this setting was because I found it
isolating, and also it is usually used in horror films. However I
also set the opening sequence mainly at a café in broad
daylight which I felt as if ruined the titling which portrayed
horror whereas the café scene looked rather casual.
