Our media product follows some conventions of crime and thriller films, such as using common sound effects and vaguely showing the face of the murderer. However, it also challenges conventions by starting with a past scene of a girl being murdered in an alleyway, rather than slowly introducing characters as is more typical for the genre. The product aims to get the audience thinking by leaving some details vague, while also creating tension through sound effects building up the story.

1. In what way does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

2. Crime thrillers are developed around harmful and unfortunate
actions of criminals such as ruthless murderers.
Our group have chosen a female character as a victim so that
the audience would feel sympathy therefore there is a certain
connection being made. This idea is conventional to our chosen
genre as female characters are usually the chosen victims in
films because they are portrayed as easy and weak.

3. Our media product follows some of the
common conventions which can be seen in
crime and thriller films.
I have researched about the conventions of
crime and thriller films to have a good
understanding and better knowledge about
this genre.
Our media product is quite conventional as
the sound effects we have used is quite
common to be heard in crime and thriller
films. Also, we decided to vaguely show the
face of the murderer/killer to get the
audience to think and get involved. In
Neverending by Sky light Production (Final product)
addition, we have added sounds to build up
the tension which is typical to crime and
thriller films.

4. Our media product challenged conventions
by starting the opening sequence with a past
scene showing a girl has been murdered in
an alley way. As usually crime and thriller
films would build up the story by slowly
introducing the characters rather than
straight to the point.
