This document discusses how a film title sequence can attract and address its target audience. It offers three main uses or gratifications: 1) Personal identity by allowing the audience to aspire to be like the strong protagonist character. 2) Social interaction by creating "water cooler moments" where the audience is desperate to find out what happens. 3) Entertainment through providing escapism and allowing the audience to imagine themselves in unrealistic exciting situations like being chased by hitmen or being a superhero. Identification is also offered as the protagonist can be a model for the audience to either admire or reject based on their values and behaviors.
