EVALUATION
I foundthe script writing quitechallenging at first butby usingthe scripts I haveanalysedand looked
at previously as well as a script bible and feedback from the client, I feel that I haveproduceda fully
formattedindustry standardscript.
In my first meeting with the client I received very useful feedback with the way in which the script
shouldbe formatted. I haveadjusted the layoutof the dialogue to centralise it in order for it tolook
more professionaland I think thatthis would alsohelp in the productionofthe film when they are
shootingsince the dialogue is clearer to the actor/actress.
Based on the secondmeeting with the client I received very positivefeedback on my second draft for
my short film. She really liked the twist involved in the film and the way in which I had portrayedthe
conversationbetween Kate andJane with the underlyingmotivefor the call being shownwell. She
suggestedthatI shouldadd a bit more informationaboutthe character of Katewhen first introducing
her in the script. I havemade these changes by explaining the age of Kate andwhat she is wearing
andI think this helps to display who sheis as a character.
In my third email conversationwith the client I wantedto ensure the script I hadproducedwas
professionaland soasked whether it would be advisableto make a reference tothe shot number
from my shootingscript alongsidemy written script. Shefelt that addingthe numberswould help the
team to see my visionfurther as they are reading the script.
I feel that I havesuccessfully met the needs andexpectations of the client since I ensuredthat my
script met the brief duringthe writing process. Itfits between the 5-10 minutetime limit andis
suitable tobe shownonShort of the week. Additionally, I haveensured thatit meets legal/ethical
requirements, for example, the music playedat the beginningwill be less than 30 secondswhich is
legal to usewithout breakingany copyrightlaws. Also there is nothingin the script or shootingscript
thatis unsuitablefor the target audience.
Over all I am very pleased with my script and shootingscriptbecause I feel that I haveincluded lots of
detail and really portrayedmy visionfor the film well. Inthis process I have learnt new conceptssuch
as how to actually write a shootingscript as well as how to professionally formata script andI think
this will be helpful in the future. I don’tfeel that I woulddo anythingdifferently if I were to restart my
scripts because I found it useful to have frequentmeetings with the client to discussmy vision and
any feedback.
