SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths
In myopinion, the strengthsof myfinal scriptisthatit has a unique storyline, alotof the story is
shownandportrayedthroughvisualsandaudioinsteadof beingheavilyrelyingonthe dialogue,
whichI have keptto a minimum.Ialsolike how it’squite shortandsnappyat 5 and a half minutes
and to the pointso itdoesn’tdragout and leave the audience feelingboredandthere aren’tmany
characters whichwill helppreventconfusionforthe audience whentheyare watchingthe film.
Weaknesses
The only weakness whichIbelieve ithasisIam worriedthatthe audience willbecome confused
when‘the switch’happensinthe middle soIhave to be careful whenfilmingandeditingthisto
make sure that I portray thisinthe right wayto avoidany confusionwiththe storyline forthe
audience.
Opportunities
Duringthe editingprocessof the filmIwill have the opportunitytoaddextraeffectsandcutswhichI
thinkwill improvethe filmwhichIwouldn’thave beenabletosee orthinkof duringthe writing
processof the script.
WiththisfilmI alsohave the opportunitytoportraya goodmessage acrossto the audience if Ifilm
and edititwell enoughandinthe rightwaythat hopefully the message beingputacrossto the
audience will be thatyou shouldn’ttake life forgrantedandthatyou shouldcherishandbe grateful
for everymomentof itas youneverknow whenitmightendandyou will lose the onesyoulove.
Threats
The threats thatI may face duringproductionof thisfilmmayinclude:actors/actressespullingout
or not beingable tofilm, badweatheronfilmingdays, nothavingthe rightcostumes, ornot being
able to getto the desiredlocationorgetthe shotswhichI originallyintendedongettingforthe film
whichiswhycontingencyplansmustbe inplace.
Evaluation
Overall the clientmeetingswithMissMaughnand MissJonesfromshort of the weekwentrather
well withonlyminimal editingneedingtobe made tothe layoutof the scriptand not the storyline
itself andoverall theyquitelikethe storyline whichhasbeenportrayedinthe script.
Here are the suggestionsforeditingwhichwere puttome on bothclientinterviewsIhad:
1. The shot numbersforthe shootingscriptneedtobe in the lefthandcolumn, andthere are a
fewgrammatical mistakeswhichneedtobe corrected.
2. You needtoput the scene descriptionwhere itissetnexttoeach act, the descriptionsof the
characters are doingneedto be putto the leftof the page and not inthe centre, anda lotof
the INT and EXT on midscene descriptionneedstobe removedasitdoesn’tneedtobe
there.
Consequently,Imade all the changeswhichwere advisedtome bythe clientsinorderto make my
scriptas good as possible andthe bestthatitcouldbe, makingit more professionalandmore
appealingtothe professional industryclientandthereforemakingiteasierinturnforme thento
produce a much higherstandardandprofessional film.
I believethatwiththisscriptandfilmideaIhave definitelymet the overall wants, expectationsand
needsof the clientforthe film.Andhave metthisthroughtalkingwiththe client, studyingthe brief
giventome bythe clientandthrough mychosentargetaudience.
I have nowproduceda final andfullyformatted scriptandshootingscript.Whichmeetsall the legal
and ethical requirementswhichhave previouslybeenpointedout.
Overall Iam quite pleasedwithwhatIhave produced. Andif I hadthe opportunitytogoback and
start overI don’tthinkthat there is anythingthatI wouldchange aboutit whichIcan thinkof as I am
happywithhowit isnow. Overall,Ihave now gainedsomanygreat new skillsinhow toproduce a
