Evaluation: Question 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Products:
Same Font for Main Title: The DVD Cover. The Magazine. The series- Opening Credits. My group and all decided to use the same font of “varisty Regular” and font colour “red” four the main title of out TV series name. The idea being that we wanted our audience to be able to instantly recognise each product as belonging to the televsion series. Whether it be the magazine for the series, or the DVD cover.
All Characters are used: My group and all decided that in order to make our products as recognisable to the series of GRADE A as possible, we would use every character in the series. This also made our products look more interesting.
Same display of main character: My group and I all decided that we would have one main character for our series, “GRADE A” As it is the usual convention for a TV series. Therefore to emphasise this actress as the main character Verity has used her as the main image on the the front of her DVD cover. I have used her as the main image for my magazine cover and Lucinda has put this character as the last image the audience sees. It is because of  the use of our main character that our products link so well.
School Theme is used throughout: The Magazine. The series- Opening Credits. The DVD Cover. My group and I all decided at the beginning of our coursework that the series would be set in high school as we felt our target audience would all be able to relate to this setting and the issues that would develop from school life. Therefore we all decided that for each of our products we would relate back to the series main setting by creating the idea of school. Therefore Verity for her DVD has created a notepaper back ground that has doodles drawn on it, as this can be recognised as a theme of school. For Lucinda’s Opening credits she has used the school logo so the audience are in no doubt of the fact the series is set in a school. However for my magazine I found it a bit more difficult to throw in a school theme so instead I have used my charcaters dressed in their school uniform.
From the beginning my group and I sat down and discussed links that would enable us to intergrate all our products together subtly yet effectively.  I can honestly say now that we have finally finished our coursework and are able to see the finished products of our pieces I think that all three of the products Lucinda, Verity and mysef have created work extremely well together.

  • 2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
  • 4. Same Font for Main Title: The DVD Cover. The Magazine. The series- Opening Credits. My group and all decided to use the same font of “varisty Regular” and font colour “red” four the main title of out TV series name. The idea being that we wanted our audience to be able to instantly recognise each product as belonging to the televsion series. Whether it be the magazine for the series, or the DVD cover.
  • 5. All Characters are used: My group and all decided that in order to make our products as recognisable to the series of GRADE A as possible, we would use every character in the series. This also made our products look more interesting.
  • 6. Same display of main character: My group and I all decided that we would have one main character for our series, “GRADE A” As it is the usual convention for a TV series. Therefore to emphasise this actress as the main character Verity has used her as the main image on the the front of her DVD cover. I have used her as the main image for my magazine cover and Lucinda has put this character as the last image the audience sees. It is because of the use of our main character that our products link so well.
  • 7. School Theme is used throughout: The Magazine. The series- Opening Credits. The DVD Cover. My group and I all decided at the beginning of our coursework that the series would be set in high school as we felt our target audience would all be able to relate to this setting and the issues that would develop from school life. Therefore we all decided that for each of our products we would relate back to the series main setting by creating the idea of school. Therefore Verity for her DVD has created a notepaper back ground that has doodles drawn on it, as this can be recognised as a theme of school. For Lucinda’s Opening credits she has used the school logo so the audience are in no doubt of the fact the series is set in a school. However for my magazine I found it a bit more difficult to throw in a school theme so instead I have used my charcaters dressed in their school uniform.
  • 8. From the beginning my group and I sat down and discussed links that would enable us to intergrate all our products together subtly yet effectively. I can honestly say now that we have finally finished our coursework and are able to see the finished products of our pieces I think that all three of the products Lucinda, Verity and mysef have created work extremely well together.
