Ben Loynd's FMP project is a comic book adaptation based on The Walking Dead graphic novels and TV show. His story follows Ben Fields, a desk worker in the UK who finds himself amidst a zombie invasion. With his friend Tom, wife Molly, and daughter Lilly, Ben tries to survive, but his wife is killed and daughter kidnapped. Ben is found injured and recovers in a church with an old man named John. Once healed, Ben sets out to avenge his wife and rescue his daughter. For his project, Loynd aimed to develop his own artistic style rather than directly copying The Walking Dead comics.

1. Evaluation
Introduction
My name is Ben Loynd and for my FMP I am creating a comic based on the walking dead comics.
What is The Walking Dead?
The walking dead is a graphic novel that follows a man called Rick Grimes through a zombie
apocalypse. The walking dead was first published in 2003 and is still going strong as a monthly series
and has been awarded with New York Times best seller.
Not only is the comic book successful but it has also spawned a weekly TV show based on the
comics.
Only last year in its 4th series it received a record 16.1 Million Viewers.
In 2012 Telltail games created a point and click game following the comics but with a completely
different protagonist who we don’t see in the comics at all. The game then went on to collect 2012s
game of the year.
My Story
My story follows a young man called Ben Fields a long haired wise cracking desk worker that finds
himself in the middle of a walker (zombie) invasion. Un like the original walking dead series this one
is set in the U.K so guns are a little harder to come by and the characters will mostly have to rely on
improviser weaponry. Also another thing to take in to account the original series is set in 2003 so
that means no iPhones or up to date equipment.
With him along the way are his long time friend Tom Reid, his wife Molly Fields and daughter Lilly.
Quarter of the way through the story though the group are attacked by raiders and Ben’s wife is shot
and killed and his daughter is kidnaped with the car full of supplies leaving Ben badly wounded and
alone. Fortunately Ben is found by and old man named John that takes him to a nearby church to
recover.
When ben awakes and is in a well enough condition he ventures out to avenge his wife and find his
daughter.
Illustrations
At first I wanted to illustrate the comic in the same style as Charlie Adlard (the lead artist of the
original Walking Dead Comic) but decided that to follow my own style with it being my version of the
comic this has been done many times before in other comic franchises.
Conclusion

2. Over all I I was happy with the outcome but I think if I had the chance to do it again I would manage
my time more efficiently and sketched the characters more or did more draft sketches of the comic
just so it had more of a professional look to it.
Another thing I could have familiarised myself with is the speech bubbles so they look more sleek
and professional.
