HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES
IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND
RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION
STAGES.

In this presentation I will be addressing what apps, websites and
equipment's I have used in these stages.
EQUIPMENT
•

The equipment that were used throughout were the mac computers and laptops and the
smartphones. We used the laptops and macs to do everything on. We needed these to
research and make the music video and ancillary products. I also used my iphone which
came in handy as when I did not have access to a computer I could do research and blog
from my phone as well as upload pictures which were taken from my phone.

The flip camera was used to make vlogs which made the blog look a bit more creative
rather than having so many written posts. This was also used to record audience opinions
and feedbacks which really helped in order to make the music video as good as possible.

•

The professional camera’s were used to actually make the music video where we
recorded the footage. The digital SLR camera was used to have more better colour in the
music video. The camera was also used for the photo-shoot and for pictures for the
location.

Memory cards and hard drives were used to save the footage on and use certain
apps(like final cut pro).

Many apps were used – some which I was familiar and some which I wasn’t. These apps were
used from the mac’s as well as my phone. Firstly I will explain the apps which were used from the
mac’s.
APPLE MAC



ITunes – used for research to research pop artists and their album covers.



ClipGrab – used to download the final Ellie Goulding song –’In My City’ to go over the edited
footage on Final Cut Pro.



Camtasia –used to take small parts of video’s from blogger as well as YouTube. This was
useful since rather than taking a full long video I could take a certain part instead and upload
the main part. You can basically record whatever you see on the screen.



HandBrake – used to convert any videos which could not be uploaded straight to blogger.
Adobe Photoshop Elements – used to make the ancillary products (Digipak &
Advertisement).



Final Cut Pro – to make the actual music video. On this package we could edit footage, cut
them up and use the base-tracks which were filmed. Also on this package we were able to
change around the colour of the footage and change the sizes of the footage.
Now I will explain how I used the apps on my iphone. Some of these apps(Keek, Instagram
and twitter) are also social networking sites and with the target audience we had we thought
these would help promote the artist.
MY IPHONE


Keek - Used to make short vlogs (maximum 36 seconds were allowed).



Instagram – Used to keep ‘fans’ updated with the filming process. We uploaded pictures
of locations and the artist. I also used instagram for my personal research on what people
look for in music video’s.



Twitter – We used this to allow teachers to be updated with what we were doing as well as
our fans.



PhotoCollage – This was used in the research and planning process where I took
potential ideas and put them together.



Blogger – As well as using blogger on the internet I also downloaded the app on my
phone so I could blog when I was out doors.

On the left is a blog which was about a few things we saw
on one of the filming days. We used keek to film these as
we only wanted to record a small part of it and keek
allowed us to do this. AS you can see they are below 40
seconds so they were mot a waste of time or boring to
watch.

research where people gave me answers to
my question. This was done via my personal
instagram.

These official websites were used in the research and planning process as these two artists
have a similar target audience to Yasmin Feruz and therefore we thought it would be a good
idea to look at their websites and decide what things we’d have similar to them.
OTHER WEBSITES
 Youtube – Youtube was used to embed music video’s and adverts which were influential.
 Blogger - Blogger was used throughout the whole year for the research, planning, production
and evaluation. If someone goes through the blog it would be like a journey from start to
finish as everything that we did goes in order according to the date that it was posted on.
 Keek – We used the website to embed the keeks that were uploaded.
 Slideshare – Was used to allow microsoft powerpoints that were made to have better quality
as well as allows other people to view my work.
 Prezi – Was used to show my creativity by putting my work together and presenting it in a
different way to things like powerpoint.
 Gifmaker – Was used to make gif’s. Gif’s are moving pictures where I selected pictures
which I wanted together.

Some of these apps(Keek, Instagram and twitter) are also social networking sites and with the target audience we had we thought these would help promote the artist. MY IPHONE  Keek - Used to make short vlogs (maximum 36 seconds were allowed).  Instagram – Used to keep ‘fans’ updated with the filming process. We uploaded pictures of locations and the artist. I also used instagram for my personal research on what people look for in music video’s.  Twitter – We used this to allow teachers to be updated with what we were doing as well as our fans.  PhotoCollage – This was used in the research and planning process where I took potential ideas and put them together.  Blogger – As well as using blogger on the internet I also downloaded the app on my phone so I could blog when I was out doors.
  • 7. SCREEN SHOTS OF SOME OF THESE APPS On the left is a blog which was about a few things we saw on one of the filming days. We used keek to film these as we only wanted to record a small part of it and keek allowed us to do this. AS you can see they are below 40 seconds so they were mot a waste of time or boring to watch. On the right is a screen shot of my personal research where people gave me answers to my question. This was done via my personal instagram.

WEBSITE S OFFICIAL WEBSITES Ellie Goulding Jessie J These official websites were used in the research and planning process as these two artists have a similar target audience to Yasmin Feruz and therefore we thought it would be a good idea to look at their websites and decide what things we’d have similar to them.

OTHER WEBSITES  Youtube – Youtube was used to embed music video’s and adverts which were influential.  Blogger - Blogger was used throughout the whole year for the research, planning, production and evaluation. If someone goes through the blog it would be like a journey from start to finish as everything that we did goes in order according to the date that it was posted on.  Keek – We used the website to embed the keeks that were uploaded.  Slideshare – Was used to allow microsoft powerpoints that were made to have better quality as well as allows other people to view my work.  Prezi – Was used to show my creativity by putting my work together and presenting it in a different way to things like powerpoint.  Gifmaker – Was used to make gif’s. Gif’s are moving pictures where I selected pictures which I wanted together.
