My media product, a music magazine called Download, uses and develops the forms and conventions of real punk rock music magazines. It includes elements like a prominent masthead, cover images of bands, taglines, and barcodes. The contents page and article layouts also mirror conventions with band photos, editor's letters, and categorized article sections. The double page feature article employs conventions like quotes, prose text, and an outdoor full band shot composed using the rule of thirds. Overall, Download adheres closely to the established forms and conventions of existing popular punk rock music magazines.

When creating my music magazine, I was working within
the genre of rock; more specifically, punk rock. This is
one of the biggest genres at the moment and I
researched it thoroughly. I looked at

The front cover of my magazine has a number of similarities to a well known, big selling rock magazine’s; the
main image used is of the whole band, with the lead singer standing in front of the rest of the members. Both
magazines use hooks and a list of the bands included inside. Both main cover lines are the biggest text on the
page, and have a number of smaller cover lines. Both include a barcode as this is an important convention of
a magazine.

My magazine’s contents page has a number of similarities to the contents page of Rock Sound; both are laid out
in a clear and professional way, both feature the cover band in a full body shot and both include information
about the magazine and its web pages. I have also included the conventions of a contents page, incorporating
an editorial profile explaining what is in the issue, article titles in sections and the same colour scheme as the
front cover.
