Outline of my Music Magazine
My music magazine is going to focus on the genre of Rock music and some of its sub-genres, namely Alternative Rock and
Indie Rock. It’s layout will include many of the features and conventions that successful Rock magazines use, such as Kerring
and Q magazine. The target audience for this magazine will be typical of all Rock Magazines – males and females aged around
12+.

What is it about?
My Rock magazine will be typical of all other Rock magazines, in that it will include (or at least mention) interviews with bands,
reviews of new and old albums and songs, news of upcoming gigs/album releases, etc.

What is it’s Genre?
My magazine will focus entirely on Rock music, and it’s sub-genres. Earlier, i made a survey to see which Sub-genres
specifically people would like to see. Most of the people I surveyed chose Alternative, Indie, and Pop Rock. As a result I will
include these sub-genres in my magazine once I begin creating it.

Name and Masthead?
The name of my Rock magazine will be ‘Reverb’, named after
the audio phenomenon ‘Reverberation’ – when a sound
continues to be heard once the source of it has stopped. This
is used quite frequently in Rock music, and is commonly done
with electric guitars. Because of this, I thought it would be an
appropriate name for a Rock magazine.
I created my Masthead in such a way that it reflected the
colours commonly associated with Rock music: red, black and
grey. The rectangular image behind the writing also looks like
a ticket, which relates to going to a gig, which in turn is also
Rock-related. Finally, the font I used is similar to what most
people would associate with a Rock-related word font.
The Strap-line will be a short, Rock-related phrase that will be unique to

colours and font used is to
both make it instantly
recognisable as a Rock
magazine, and to make it
stand out.
