This document compares the visual conventions of magazine covers, contents pages, and double page spreads. It finds that both magazines use large mastheads, coverlines in aggressive fonts, pull quotes, wide ranges of images with captions, two-column body copies and large images on double page spreads. The layouts are conventional for the rock music genre and help attract and guide readers through the magazines.
