Estuaries are productive ecosystems where rivers meet the ocean, supporting abundant plant and animal life. They are transitional zones with both freshwater and saltwater. Over time, sediments can accumulate and block estuaries, turning them dry if not managed. Estuaries are economically and ecologically important for humans, providing habitat for fisheries, recreation, and coastal development. However, they are threatened by overfishing and pollution.
Introduction, Models, Types of estuaries on the basis of origin; Salinity condition or freshwater discharge; Circulation; Estuaries in India; Estuaries as ecosystem; Why are estuaries important; Threats ;How can we help to protect them; Conclusion.
The Estuarine System consists of deepwater tidal habitats and adjacent tidal wetlands that are usually semienclosed by land but have open, partly obstructed, or sporadic access to the open ocean, and in which ocean water is at least occasionally diluted by freshwater runoff from the land. The salinity may be periodically increased above that of the open ocean by evaporation. Along some low-energy coastlines there is appreciable dilution of sea water. Offshore areas with typical estuarine plants and animals, such as red mangroves (Rhizophora mangle) and eastern oysters (Crassostrea virginica), are also included in the Estuarine System.

An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment, interacting as a system.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
How to Create Map Views in the Odoo 17 ERPCeline George
The map views are useful for providing a geographical representation of data. They allow users to visualize and analyze the data in a more intuitive manner.
The Indian economy is classified into different sectors to simplify the analysis and understanding of economic activities. For Class 10, it's essential to grasp the sectors of the Indian economy, understand their characteristics, and recognize their importance. The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Estuaries
Introduction to Estuaries
Estuaries are fascinating places. In fact, they are one of the most productive ecosystems
on the planet! They support tons and tons of wildlife due to having the mixture of
saltwater and freshwater. An estuary is basically a partly enclosed body of water where
the river and the ocean meet. Estuaries support many types of birds (some migratory),
various types of fish (many come to breed in estuaries as it is safe because of the
abundant plant life), diverse types of mammals (seals, otters, sea lions, etc.), different
bugs and reptiles, and even whales and dolphins. So, today I will briefly explain to you what
an estuary is, so enjoy!
So, what exactly are Estuaries?
As said in the front, estuaries are areas where rivers and oceans meet. So, an estuary
could be considered a bridge between freshwater animals and saltwater animals. It is, in
other words, a place of transition between salt water and fresh water, or between the
ocean and the rivers / streams. Although they are influenced by the tides, they are
protected from the full force of ocean waves, winds, and storms. Aren’t estuaries
wonderful places?
Do Estuaries last forever? The Aging Process
However, estuaries will not last forever. Every day sediments go in and out of an estuary.
There is an aging process for an estuary. If too much sediments flow in and less flush out,
an estuary eventually gets blocked. When it is blocked, the water can’t get through, right?
So, the part beyond the dam (made up of different sediments) will eventually become
dehydrated. During that process, an estuary may age and die (unless humans do something
about it). In some cases, a once thriving estuary had become a totally dry land, almost like
a desert.
2. What Help are Estuaries to Humans?
Estuaries not only support animals and wildlife, but are also important places for us. Our
coastal regions today are the home for hundreds of millions of people. Also, people love
estuaries for their beauty, for fishing, swimming, boating, diving, wildlife viewing, hunting,
learning, and working. In 1993, over 180 million Americans visited estuaries – about 70
percent of the entire U.S. population. Fishing, tourism and recreational boating provide
more than 28 million jobs for our nation. Commercial and sport fishing alone contribute
$111 billion yearly to the nation's economy. These estuaries are currently threatened due
to overfishing and pollution. Help save them!
Some of the Animals in Estuaries
Catfish, sheepshead, silver perch and grouper live in estuaries. Sea Trout, Flounders,
various types of crabs, Spiny lobsters, shrimps, clams, pipefish, some crustaceans, and
oysters claim the estuaries as well. As for the birds, many herons inhabit the estuaries. In
addition, there are geese, eagles, the American Coot, the American Wigeon, etc. The
estuary supports heaps of mammals. There are seals, sea lions, otters (many different
species of the three just mentioned), etc. For the reptiles, there are estuarine crocodiles,
frogs, snakes, salamanders, lizards, etc. These are the animals that live in estuaries. In
fact, there are lots and lots more that I didn’t mention. Again, many different plants and
animals depend on estuaries.
Things You Can Do to Help / Conclusion
What can you do to help your local estuary (ies)? You can participate in cleaning programs,
or in breeding campaigns and programs to breed endangered species and release them into
the wild. Or, you can just go by yourself and pick up some cans and a few pieces of plastic.
That may not sound like much, but to the environment it is great help. Well, now it is time
to say goodbye. Thanks for reading, and I hope you learned some new things from this
document. Bye!
