Unit 2

Assignment #2: Educational Software-Authoring Tools




LESSON PLAN

Course: 4th grade
Communicative goal: expressing likes and dislikes
Grammatical goal: I like/I don’t like...
Vocabulary focus: food and drink
Recycled language: colours.

Activation (5 min)

T will ask Sts what their favourite colour and food is. They will discuss why, Sts will be
allowed to speak in Spanish. This is to activate Sts’ previous knowledge.

Comprehension and clarification (10 min)

T will stick on the board word cards with different colours, food and drinks. T will ask Sts
to guess the meaning of the new words, then she will ask Sts to read them one by one to
check pronunciation. T will do a quick drawing for the Sts to check their predictions.

Then T will start saying:
T: my favourite food is the fish and chips. I like fish and chips! What’s your favourite food,
Nicolás?
Nicolás: Pizza.
T: so, your favourite food is pizza. You like pizza!
Nicolás: Yes!!

T will follow the same procedure with some Sts so as to clarify the meaning of “like”.

Application

Act N°1
Name of the activity: FOOD AND DRINK ( Complete the puzzle with the right word.)
Type: pseudo communicative
Focus: reading
Grouping scheme: In pairs (one computer every two students)
Time allotted: 10 min
Description: T will give sts instructions on the BB or on a slide projector about how to do
the puzzle in the completer: colours, food and drink. Sts will have to complete the puzzle
following the information provided.

Act N°2
Type: communicative
Focus: speaking
Grouping scheme: solo
Time allotted: 10 min
Description: T will say a word and Sts will have to make up the sentence. For ex:
               T: Let’s see, Micaela.... Red/apples?
               Micaela: I like red apples/I don’t like red apples

Reflection (10 min)
Sts will have to draw two or three of their favourite food, including some elements of the
word flashcards. After this, they will exchange drawings to know the likes and dislikes of
their partners.

E match: In this activity students have to match ideas with words. Every idea contains clues
or examples that connect with specific words. The purpose is to test comprehension and
vocabulary related to drinks.

Activity name: What´s the right colour?

Time allotted:
Description:


E quiz: In this activity students have to read a question and choose the correct answer from
a multiple-choice set. Only one of the answers is correct. The idea is to test comprehension
of certain fruits and vegetables and recycle vocabulary connected with colours.

ICT Applied to English Teaching-2012 NAMES: Perez, Marcela Alejandra Zanetti, Mariano Unit 2 Assignment #2: Educational Software-Authoring Tools LESSON PLAN Course: 4th grade Communicative goal: expressing likes and dislikes Grammatical goal: I like/I don’t like... Vocabulary focus: food and drink Recycled language: colours. Activation (5 min) T will ask Sts what their favourite colour and food is. They will discuss why, Sts will be allowed to speak in Spanish. This is to activate Sts’ previous knowledge. Comprehension and clarification (10 min) T will stick on the board word cards with different colours, food and drinks. T will ask Sts to guess the meaning of the new words, then she will ask Sts to read them one by one to check pronunciation. T will do a quick drawing for the Sts to check their predictions. Then T will start saying: T: my favourite food is the fish and chips. I like fish and chips! What’s your favourite food, Nicolás? Nicolás: Pizza. T: so, your favourite food is pizza. You like pizza! Nicolás: Yes!! T will follow the same procedure with some Sts so as to clarify the meaning of “like”. Application Act N°1 Name of the activity: FOOD AND DRINK ( Complete the puzzle with the right word.) Type: pseudo communicative Focus: reading

Grouping scheme: In pairs (one computer every two students) Time allotted: 10 min Description: T will give sts instructions on the BB or on a slide projector about how to do the puzzle in the completer: colours, food and drink. Sts will have to complete the puzzle following the information provided. Act N°2 Type: communicative Focus: speaking Grouping scheme: solo Time allotted: 10 min Description: T will say a word and Sts will have to make up the sentence. For ex: T: Let’s see, Micaela.... Red/apples? Micaela: I like red apples/I don’t like red apples Reflection (10 min) Sts will have to draw two or three of their favourite food, including some elements of the word flashcards. After this, they will exchange drawings to know the likes and dislikes of their partners. Act. N3 Activity name: What´s the word? They have clues and descriptions to help them figure out the meanings. The purpose is to test comprehension and a specific set of food items. Act. N4 Activity name: What is the drink?   • 3. E match: In this activity students have to match ideas with words. Every idea contains clues or examples that connect with specific words. The purpose is to test comprehension and vocabulary related to drinks. Act. N5 Activity name: What´s the right colour? Type: Focus: Grouping scheme: Time allotted: Description: E quiz: In this activity students have to read a question and choose the correct answer from a multiple-choice set. Only one of the answers is correct. The idea is to test comprehension of certain fruits and vegetables and recycle vocabulary connected with colours.
