Ethnographic Paper: Differences in Study Habits by Gender at King Library
A library, by definition, is a place set apart to contain books, periodicals, and other
material for reading, viewing, listening, study, or reference, as a room, set of
rooms, or building where books may be read or borrowed (Merriam Webster).
However, for students at Miami University, the word library may have different
connotations. After asking several fellow students the first word that comes to
mind when someone talks about the library, the responses I received varied from
the expected books , study , and focus , to more personal emotions such as sad and
depressed . King Library, named for longtime library director and benefactor Edgar
Weld King, has been the largest library and main scholarly hub at Miami
University since 1966. Open 24 hours a day, you are bound to see students
studying, socializing, or even sleeping at any given hour of the day in King.
Comprised of four floors, including the basement, students are expected to meet the
noise level expectations of each floor; students should anticipate a more relaxed and
loud experience in the basement whereas the third floor maintains a level of almost
absolute silence. For the past several weeks, I have been observing students and their
studying habits in the basement and cafГ© area of King Library. In particular, I have
been interested in how the gender of the student has an

Give me liberty or give me death. This quote was spoken by Patrick Henry. This
paper will discuss Massachusett s present and past history during the time of the
Revolutionary War; as well as the causes of the war, Sons of Liberty, and important
battles. Boston was where the action began. It began with taxes being raised, acts
being made, such as the Stamp act. They were upset because legislature was taxing
the Americans without a representative for the people(Bomboy). British forces
arriving was another cause. Then, the BostonTea Party and the Boston Massacre
occurred. Key figures and leaders came forward, such as Paul Revere, Samuel Adams
,and John Hancock and they started calling for action(Sword She Seeks Under
Liberty). Meanwhile in Worcester, political control was with the Americans, but the
court was under control of the British. The British were attempting to regain control
by marching on the courthouse where the citizens were gathered. The citizens held
the British forces back but later were afraid that without protecting the courthouse at
night, the British would take control of the courthouse, then take their tools,
livestock, or farms as punishment and this sent people into more disarray. Tensions
were escalating between people, so reasonable patriots called for a meeting of several
counties that were involved in this. Meanwhile, British General Thomas Gage
decided that he would hold the troops in Worcester at the time. He would take the

The Game By Teresa Toten
The Game is a novel written by Teresa Toten in 2001. The novel examines the
affect of abuse and the feeling of inadequacy on a young person and how they cope
with it, in this case the young girl develops a fantasy world in which she battles the
evil with her sister. It also shows how a person s mind tries to protect them from the
realization of events that have happened that at the time they may not be able to cope
with. The gamewas invented by two young sisters, Danielleand Kelly. Danielle is the
older sister that suffers from a tumultuous relationship with her Father which
includes physical and emotional abuse. Dani takes a lot of blame for things that
her sister does wrong, to protect her. She wants to be loved and respected by her
Father, just like her sister is and you find that she has memorialized one memory
where her Father was actually proud of her. There is also the realization that there
are many more memories of when he was disappointed and angry at her. Bearing in
mind that she is also taking responsibility for her sisters mistakes you can imagine
a childhood filled with misery and fear and the need for respect and love. Dani
initially invents a game with her sister representing good versus evil and as you
read the book you realize that Dani s entire life is a game. She reverts to her
childhood game in her mind when facing difficult conversations and situations. Now
that she is older, she uses alcohol and drugs to help take away the memories of the

mage fusion based on fuzzy sets
The fuzzy logic approach is widely used in image process ing. The fuzzy logic
gives decision rules and fusion motivation for image fusion [17]. the two inputs
images are converted into membership values based on a set of predefined MFs,
where the degree of membership of each input pixel to a fuzzy set is determined.
Then, the fusion operators are applied to the fuzzified images. The fusion results are
then converted back into pixel values using defuzzification.
1) Fuzzy sets: The fuzzy sets are used to describe the gray levels of the input images.

Sears Corporate Social Responsibility
As Sears Holdings has continued to grow so rapidly there has been some down
falls within the company, this is not to say that due to the downfalls they cannot
have a stronger rising. As the down size to help increase their profits once again, it
is seen to be helpful that they have such a great business ethics as their backbone.
Being able to rely on the knowledge of creating such a huge corporation should help
Sears Holdings to regrow even stronger after a downsize. The course of actions
Sears Holdings interprets from the triple bottom line is what is making it possible to
regrow not only financially but also sustainably. Sears Corporation, was founded in

Essay on Henry VI and the Wars of the Roses
From his fifteen year minority to the inept rule of the rest of his reign, Henry VI
was a child , at least as far as governing ability was concerned. The period of his
minority and the time that he was the titular king laid the groundwork for the Wars
of the Roses. Had Henry been an intelligent king, with at least some political acumen,
and the ability to win the respect of his nobles, their may have never been any Warsof
the Roses. But his weakness in allowing government by favorites and governing
foolishly on his own, at the very least directed his country down the road to a bloody
civil war.
Henry VI was born on December 6, 1421, and became king of England on September
1, 1422. Problems began almost immediately, though these ... Show more content on

Since it was made up of nobles, they tried to protect each others interests, something
not always for the public good.
Even after he had come of age, Henry suffered from a lack of popular support,
something that invariably helps the other side in a civil war. He was considered a
fool by the general populace, which weakened his authority. During his reign, there
were many charges of seditious libel to come before the courts (Storey, 34) and
they usually dealt with someone slandering the king. Common people and yeomen
were calling the king a lunatic , a child, and a fool (Storey, 35). For instance, one
Sussex yeoman called the king a natural fool and said that the king was no person
able to rule the land (Storey, 35). Evidently, if even the common people were
slandering the king, they must have had some basis for it. The king did nothing to
prove the people wrong, rarely going on progresses to smooth out his image. He
stayed in the Home Counties for much of his reign, and even that did not improve his
image with the people.
Among the upper classes, he proved over and over again that he was not a good
king. He rarely, if ever, participated in Parliament, and often did not attend sittings of
the king s council. When the council sat at Westminster, Henry usually managed to
be somewhere else (Storey, 35). These actions give a picture of a king who, though
solicited for his opinions, did not want to get involved in the
Canadian Solar
Midterm Case Analysis
Problem Statement
1.Situation
Canadian Solar which is a traded solar cell and module manufacturer has experienced
recent strong growth. Despite 2009 fluctuations in the solar industry namely for PV
technology, the growth has been fuelled by Government incentives programs to
encourage solar PV technology. The Solar industry is now highly competitive and
companies follow an industrial organizational model. This is because they all
compete mainly in PV technology, and this market is hinged on Government
initiatives and renewable support schemes. Also, the international markets such as
Spain (FIT) and Germany ( EEG law) influenced the companies strategy in terms of
rates changes, over supply in 2009 among others. ... Show more content on

On the other hand, Canadian solar has been experiences losses in the past three
years causing cash flows problems and increasing allowance for doubtful accounts
due to the economic crisis. Also the company s customers often buy on credit terms
thus at any point of time can declare bankrupt or take a very long time to repay their
debts making Canadian solar short on cash. Other risks include a sudden end in
demand, sales price declining, dislocating business model assumption, capital ties and
currency fluctuations.
Finally Canadian solar has the opportunity to make good net profit in August 2009
due to strong shipment growth and favorable FX trends.
2. Resources
Canadian solar has an innovative management team and has first mover advantage in
some areas ( recycling of silicones). They also have various offices around the globe
to maximize operations and achieve low cost manufacturing. With its sales offices
controlling specific markets and projects, the company has an eye on what is
happening in different countries. Furthermore they have control on components since
they practise vertical integration.
3. Capabilities and core competencies
Qu s knowledge is a great asset to the company and its vision to achieve successful
international strategies is an important capability in this industry where technological
know how is essential. Their low cost manufacturing base is China helps Canadian
solar to compete with other big players of the market like China
Ralph Waldo Emerson s Analysis
Should we listen to other people s ideas? Ralph Waldo Emerson argues that we
should rely on ourselves, on our own philosophies, and that we believe that what is
true for us is true for all (Emerson 88). David Bohm, on the other hand argues that
we should instead be open to other people s ideass, as communication can lead to
the creation of something new only if people are able freely to listen to one another,
without prejudice, and without trying to influence each other (Bohm 13). I
personally believe that Emerson is correct. I believe that if we do not stay true to
our own ideas, but instead open up and take note of other ideas, our own principles
will become convoluted. Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string
(Emerson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this situation too, Emerson is correct. If denominations of Christianity start
listening to each other too much, we shall have a gigantic mess of ideas. That is
why denominations exist in the first place. Too much of anything is a bad thing,
including the sharing of ideas. Oversharing could very well lead to a lost society, a
society where people don t know what they believe anymore. As an example I will
turn to our class discussion on David Brian Winter. While I personally believe that
the Bible is God s word, the never changing truth, many of the others said that
perhaps the Bible was open to interpretation. I strongly believe that this is false,
and that the words spoken by God and recorded in the Bible apply very much the
same way to our lives as they did to the lives of those who lived a thousand years
ago. During the discussion I was tempted to lower my block and consider that it
could be open to interpretation, but true to Emerson s advice, I stuck to my gut, to
my heart. An additional time my beliefs were tested was in my Biology class,
during the discussion of evolution, and the timeline of the earth. Though scientists
have made these so called facts about the earth s age appear legitimate, I knew in
my heart that they were in error, and that the story of creation, and the Biblical
timeline of earth was the truth. At the time I was much younger and less sound in
my biblical knowledge, therefore I did not argue for my beliefs. If I were to be put
in that situation now, I would be more likely to argue for the Bible, which is the
truth, just as I am prepared to argue for it in any other

managed it very well. There are a lot of similarities between the movies and the

The biggest one is that Rufus from the book looked more like a lion. rather like an
old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy

course, there are a lot of resemblences or differences like Luna Lovegood s dirty
blonde hair , Nymphadora s pink hair or Neville Longbottom s blonde hair but i tried
to resume the most important ones from my point of view. The Harry Potter
Universe is very important for me because it represents a very big part of my
childhood and adolescence. Now, re reading the books and re watching the movies I
observe things from another perspective, things that evey human being struggles with
day by day, fears that we need to face and societies where we need to fit in. In
conclusion, there are a lot of particularities that are different in movies or books, but
the most important thing is the message that we understand. The message can be
understood only if both writer and director work together. The deeper understanding of
things stays in

Patient and Hybrid Record Essay
1. What is the potential impact of the copy/paste functionality on the integrity of the
data and information contained in an EHR? The copy/paste function opens the
possibility for fraud, medical error and risk for malpractice claims. Fraud could
occur when a copy/paste function is used and than an insurance company is billed
for the procedure/services 2 or 3 times. When in reality the procedure/service was
only completed once. Medical error can occur with the copy/paste function, when a
nurse reads a chart made by a doctor who copy/pasted instructions or initiates a
procedure that was already completed but the doctor didn t realize that they copy

Don t let staff get lazy and complacent with using the copy/paste function.
1. What impact can a hybrid record have on patient care?
The hybrid record could have negative and positive effects on patient care. One
negative effect would be that it would take longer to access and put together if a
whole file is requested. Another negative would be just where exactly is all of these
paper records being kept. A positive effect of the hybrid record is that if the computer
system is compromised in some way there would be a paper record.
2. How might the hybrid record change health information management?
The hybrid record would change health information management because you would
have to have employees to care for all these records, as well as employees for the
computer files thus creating more staff and costing more. There would of course have
to be training on how to properly handle the hybrid record having thus an effect on
the health information management team. Who would have to implement training,
schedule personnel off to take the training find yet others to cover for that training.
Again costing more money and time.
3. How might a hospital overcome some of the issues created by the hybrid record?
To overcome some issues created by the hybrid record you would have to have good
education/training in implementation of new data, new software and soft ware
The Hydrological Cycle And Water Budget Equation
Streamflow is one of the essential components to understand the hydrological
cycle and water budget equation in earth system. Climate change can affect the
streamflow in many ways. Periodic increases in winter and early spring
streamflows as well as higher frequency of intense storms will produce increase
amount of streamflow in river channels (Miller et al., 2003; Jha et al. 2004). Land
use land cover change also affect the base flow and peak flow which can cause
flash flood in urban areas (Rose and Peters, 2001, Shulenberger et al., 2008, Wang
and Cai, 2009). On the other hand declination of snow pack and increases in the
frequency and extent of droughts will reduce annual streamflows. In addition, some
plants and animals (such as fish that migrate) depend on a particular pattern of
streamflow as part of their life cycles (EPA, 2014). The measurement of quality and
quantity of streamflow is important for various purposes. Reliable streamflow
information is needed for flood warnings and forecasts, irrigation withdrawals,
wastewater discharges and reservoir releases, preservation of aquatic habitats, water
quality standards, infrastructure designs for bridges, dams, and levees and for
scientific investigations of climate change impact on hydrological components
(USGS, 2013). Stream temperature is an important variable affecting many in stream
processes such as leaf decomposition and invertebrate life history (Webster Benfield
1986, Sweeney 1984, Paul and Meyer, 2001). In

Identity Characteristics and interests that somebody recognises as belonging uniquely
to them and makes up their individual personality for life.
Self Image The opinion that you have of your own worth, attractiveness, or

Self Esteem Confidence in your own qualities as an individual person.
All of the above are linked.
If a person feels that their identity is being repressed, by not being able to or given
the choice to do things that interest them, then this person may feel withdrawn or

Jeff Jacoby s Essay Bring Back Flogging
Bring Back Foolishness
Jeff Jacobys essay, entitled Bring Back Flogging was, in my sincere opinion, poorly
constructed. There are numerous instances where I felt that he had either not
supported his premises with valid information or had negated his support in later
sentences.
The essay begins by drawing forth images of Puritan punishment. He cites two
instances of punishment, which were particularly torturous and radical in nature. He
then draws a comparison between this inhumane punishment and imprisonment by
stating with irony that, Now we practice a more enlightened, more humane way of
disciplining wrong doers: we lock them up in cages. His use of the word cages ...

Jeff Jacoby seems accustomed with using words as tools for undermining that
which he opposes. By using the word cage frequently, he ascribes a negative
connotation to the act of imprisoning people. He successfully taunts us with images
of defenseless animals locked within inhospitable quarters, and hopes that the image
will fuel the readers probable fear of human rights violations. Another statement
within the fourth paragraph, which I see as an attempt to fool people, is when he
says, Crime is out of control, despite the deluded happy talk by some politicians.
This sentence come out sounding as if it were a fact, when in actuality it is his
opinion based on feelings rather than data. I also see an attempt to discount the
authority of politicians by calling them deluded. Again there is an absence of support
available for either of these two opinions.
To add to this debauchery, he cites another misleading statistic in the last sentence
of the paragraph. He declares, Fifty eight percent of all murders do not result in a
prison term. Like wise 98% of all burglaries. What does this statement conjure up
within your mind when you read it? It draws a picture of a convicted felon/murderer
happily leaving the courtroom free to go. Is this the reality of the statement? Let s
think half heartedly about the first sentence. Pay attention to the word murders , this
implies that there is a murderer, and to be called a murderer

Confederate postage was then no longer accepted by the Northern postal services,
and if received was to be forwarded to the Dead Letter Office to be returned to

own postal service. John H. Reagan became their postmaster general and changed
8,535 of the United States 28,586 post offices to confederate leadership
(Confederate Postal System). He tried to employ southern supporters from the U.S.
Post Office so they could bring maps, reports, forms and plans that could help
jumpstart the new postal service (Confederate Postal System). Beginning using
U.S. money and postage, they soon ran into more problems as result to North
attempting to even further punish the South for seceding. U.S. postage issued
before the war was stripped of its value to ensure that stamps in Confederate hands
would be valueless (Nation Divided). The North began producing new postage to

The Plague Of The Bubonic Plague
The plague was a catastrophic time in history, and happened more than once. It took
millions and millions of people s lives. It destroyed cities and countries, and many
people suffered from it.
What is the plague? The plague or referred to as the Black Death, according to the
CDC (2015), is a disease that affects humans and other mammals and caused by the
Yersinia pestis bacteria. Humans usually get plague after being bitten by a rodent
flea that is carrying the plague bacterium or by handling an animal infected with
plague . There are three categories of a plague. There is the bubonic plague, which is
the most common form. With this form bacteria infects the lymph system and
causes it to become inflamed. Symptoms of this type of plague are fever, headache,
chills, and swollen and tender lymph nodes, which are called buboes. Then there is
the Septicemic, which occurs when the bacteria multiply in the blood. Symptoms of
this type of plague are fever, chills, extreme weakness, abdominal pain, shock, and
possibly bleeding into the skin and other organs. Also, skin and other tissues may
turn black and die, especially fingers, toes and the nose (CDC, 2015). Then there is
the Pneumonic Plague, which is the most serious form of plague and occurs when Y.
pestis bacteria infect the lungs and cause pneumonia (NIH, 2015). This is the only
form of the plague that can be transmitted human to human. Symptoms of this form of
the plague are ever, headache, weakness, and a rapidly
Ricin Essay
Many plants contain cytotoxins, which are considered the most deadly compounds
known. Ricin, a cytotoxin, is one of the most lethal toxins in the world. Ricin was
first synthesized in 1888 by the German scientist Peter Hermann Stillmark, this toxic
protein is naturally occurring in castor beans and easily purified. Purified ricin is
found as a white powder when extracted from the castor bean or it can be produced as
the waste product from the creation of castor oil. Ricin can enter the body through
ingestion, inhalation, or injection. Ingestion of this toxic can lead to dehydration by
vomiting and diarrhea or in extreme cases, hallucinations, liver and renal failure.

The A chain of ricin exhibits a large amount of secondary structure. This structure
consists of seven О± helices; these О± helices are comprised of 80 amino acid
residues, which equals to 30% of the protein is helical. A chain contains a five
stranded ОІ sheet composed of amino acid residues 67 116, and comprising 15% of
the protein. These residues, however, aren t directly involved in the sheet. The A
chain folds into three random domains. The first domain forms the bottom of the A
chain. This domain contains the amino terminal through 117 residues, which is
dominated by the ОІ sheet, making it appear as a flat domain. Five О± helices
dominate the second domain, but is comprised of amino acid residues 118 210. The
only free sulfhydoxyl group on the second О± helix resides in this domain, and is
bonded to the single methyl mercury of the isomorphous derivative. The second
domain sits over and to left of the first domain. The third domain exhibited by the A
chain forms a circular domain that strongly interacts with the B chain as mentioned
earlier. The third domain contains the 211 267 amino acid residues, and is quite
distinct from the second domain. This dis similarity is due to the amino acid residues

Hinduism In Life Of Pi
Life of... Hindu In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, Pi uses his religion to push
him through the struggles on the lifeboat; He often refers to Hindu and many of the
events and characters represent the symbolism of the Hindu religion. As Pi goes

his journey. Now imagine being trapped on a lifeboat and your religionbeing the only

Tone Of The Poem We Real Cool
In the poem We Real Cool, the tone of the story is very clearly brought to the
attention of readers. The first stanza of the poem says, We real cool/ We left school.
We (662). This sets the tone that they are tough guys, they don t want to be bothered,
and they want no non sense from anyone. This is also throughout the rest of the poem
as well. Another specific example is the next stanza that reads, Lurk late. We strike
straight (662). To me, this means that if something happens, they re going to take care
of it right away. The poem continues in this fashion and includes words like sin,
further showing that tough guy approach. Contrary to Brooks poem, We Old Dudes
takes on a much lighter tone, one that is actually humorous. An example
Hitler And The Failure Of The Weimar Republic
Unsurprisingly, Hitler is known to be insignificant due to his harsh beliefs,
personality, and the actions he took to sustain his negative beliefs. Since he himself
was insignificant, would this mean his leadership was trifling as well? Despite the
opinion of why his leadership was a failure, the opinion that supports his leadership
is mainly due to the fall of the Weimar Republic. During the ruling of the Weimar
Republic over Germany, the Weimar would cause the invasion of the Ruhr, political
violence and general distrust, and the failure to amend the Great Depression. Under
Hitler s leadership, however, he would heavily violate the Treaty of Versailles, break
German Democracy, and would rise to power due to his beliefs and actions. All of...

Beginning to deliver speeches at a local beer hall, many Germans began to look up
to Hitler and began to find hope in their situations. These speeches Hitler made
mainly targeted the Jews and the Communist, blaming them for Germany s lost
and blocking their road to recovery. This belief would add to the stab in the back
theory, blaming the enemies at home (Jews, communists, november criminals).
Though obviously these beliefs are false, Germans would began to rebuild its
pride it once lost. It would be until Hitler s imprisonment where he would create his
infamous book titled Mein Kampf . In Mein Kampf , Hitler would address
Lebensraum or living space . According to Hitler, Germans had a decision to strive
for mastery in Europe or face defeat. To strive for mastery, those seen as subhuman

positive to many since if a German met the rules needed to be pure German , they
would be viewed as superior in Hitler s perspective. Consequently, German

The Pros And Cons Of Feminism
Feminism kicked off in 1848 in Seneca Falls when the first Women s Conference
was held. This conference brought about a movement that would only grow larger
with each coming decade. Feminism is defined as the theory of the political,
economic and social equality of the sexes. Now the question of if I would consider
myself a feminist, I would have to answer no. I would describe myself as a free
thinking independent woman and do not want to be labeled under the word
feminist. I don t want to be classified under feminism because I don t fit or agree
with some of today s negative opinions that feminism portrays. One opinion is that
feminists are man haters. I am not a man hater. Upon coming to Sonoma State I
can say I have began to develop my own understandings on how I view the world,
myself, and feminism. I can say that each day I grow in some way from what I see
and understand from this world. Do I believe there are inequalities between men
and women? Absolutely. Do I believe women should receive equal pay as men?
Again, absolutely. Do I believe women should have the same educational
opportunities as men. Yes. I also see that some ideas maybe should not be equal. An
article in the Elite Daily , written by April Lee, she states her thoughts that there are
dangers of comparing men and women and trying to create same the playing field for
both. We might not realize it, but when we make these comparisons, we are openly
admitting that our understanding of how to
Adobe Research Paper
Adobe is a building material crafted from both mud and other organic materials,
usually. Buildings constructed from adobe bricks are similar to both rammed earth
and cob buildings. Adobe is one of the most ancient materials utilized, globally.
Adobe bricks are most commonly crafted into units that weigh under 100 pounds,
which are small enough to effectively dry by air individually without experiencing
cracking. Soon after drying, they are assembled through the application of adobe
mud, which facilitates the bond between the structure and it s individual bricks.
Modern construction methods permit the pouring of entire adobe walls that are steel
reinforced. Adobe buildings are commonly found in North and South America; the
Middle East; North and West Africa; West Asia; Spain; Eastern Europe; East Anglia
in England, more particularly, Norfolk, which is referred to as clay lump. Adobe had
been used by North and South American indigenous peoples for several thousands of
years. In particular, the Pueblo people constructed their adobe buildings with either
filled baskets or handfuls of adobe, until the Spanish showed them how to craft

craftsmanship, along with it s cost effective economical nature. Adobe can be made
into virtually any size or shape, provided the bricks are dried evenly and it s mixture
before it s completion includes an effective reinforcement for bricks that are larger.
Reinforcement can include cement, manure, straw, wooden posts, or rebar. Builders
have learned over time that cement, straw, or manure blended into an average
mixture of adobe can all develop a more durable, crack resistant
The Scaled Quail By Rebecca Robertson
The Scaled Quail

Appearance:
This bird has a striking appearance of a series of round feathers that adorn the bird s
body, giving it the illusion of having scales. Their legs are built to run and evade
predators, as the grasslands themselves are open with not a lot of trees or logs to
hide. Their wingspan averages 14 15 inches.
Classified Name: Callipepla squamata
Other Names: This bird is found in several other states such as Texas, Kansas, and
New Mexico to name a few. Therefore, this bird goes by other names as well, with
popular ones such as cotton top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will primarily eat seeds and plants, so they affect the amount of seeds in the
area. If they were to decrease in size, the number of insects and grain would rise.
Because they are prey, they must take advantage of the tall grasses to hide from
predators such as raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and even other birds of prey that include
some eagles and falcons.
Consumer Type:
Scaled Quails largely live off of seeds and plants such as roots and weeds. They also
eat lots of seeds and some grains. With their diet of both plants and insects, they are
an omnivore. They are a forager for greens (grasses, roots and weeds) as it supports
them.
Range:
This type of quail likes desert like environments, so they take to the states of Kansas,
Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, states all known for their grasslands
and dry climates.
Types of Symbiotic Relationships
Service Mutualism: The scaled quail has many relationships, ranging from it s diet
to environment. The scaled quail will take the seeds and other plants it finds to
survive. In turn, the bird will help spread the seeds, allowing opportunity for new
growth for the plant. Overall, this in itself is a mutualistic relationship, as the birds
gets a means of food and helps the plant by spreading its seeds. Since it helps the
plant transport it s seeds, it belongs in the category of service mutualism. The scaled
quail will use any available cover it runs across. Thus, a
Critical Realism In The Prince Machiavelli
The piece of work referred to is Machiavelli s great book The Prince which explains
the nature of human nature and the way they act badly. The book can be used as a
guiding book to leaders because of the advices Machiavelli was giving to the prince
Lorenzo de Medici. The relevance of this book is to understand one s personal
foundation in research therefore linking it to ontology and epistemologywho both
tend shape and mend the approach to theoretical and methodological thinking of a
researcher. Ontology is a philosophical study which makes a researcher to believe
and think more in the light of the nature of being while epistemology tends to make a
researcher to believe in the theory of knowledge. They are both different but at a
point they merge. They merge in trying to understand aspects of these terms in
Machiavelli s book. How both of them merge to understand the piece of work is the
purpose of this essay.

Proponents of this school of thought believe that critical realism agrees with both
ontology and epistemology. Critical realism and ontology argue that there is a real
world that exists notwithstanding of what we know or our perceptions or theories.
They argue that there is a nature of being, critical realism and ontology on the other
hand argues that there is a form of epistemological constructivism and that is the
basis of our understanding of the world in which we live. And this world is like a
house we build because of our knowledge we have of it. Meaning it is our point of
view that influences our thoughts and existence of what we call
Prison Is A Building For The Confinement Of Criminals
Or...
According to the Oxford Dictionary, prison is a building for the confinement of
criminals or those awaiting trial . The reasoning behind the prison has been one of the
controversial issues since 20th century. The following essay considers the practicality
of prisons, particularly whether the foremost purpose of the legal system by prisoning
the victims is to punish offenders or to preserve the public, to rehabilitate criminals.
In particular, this essay will attempt to give a balanced argument both to support and
against the imprisonment system. To begin with, Telegraph News has drawn
attention to the fact that, with fewer than 15 open prisons in the UK, our system is
focused on punishmentrather than rehabilitation. This indicates that, first and
foremost reason of prisoning the criminals in United Kingdom is to punish them by
evacuating from public for a while. Community sentences and programmes that are
outcome focused are the most successful penal intervention at preventing reoffending
and have the support of victims. By punishing offenders government reduces the
crimerate, since victims will foresee the results of their actions and probably they will
feel more embarrassed to repeat their actions. Furthermore, another purpose of
imprisonment is to rehabilitate criminals and to correct some of the inadequacies of
offenders that may be linked to their criminal behaviour and their continued
involvement in the criminal justicesystem. Rehabilitation refers as,
Cats And Cats
Cats need exercise to keep their body in shape, muscle tone, and claws sharp. It also
helps prevent certain health conditions, such as overweight, muscle stiffness, and
rigidity. When cats and kittens play, they improve their coordination, agility, and
mobility. Encouraging your cat to exercise may be done through playing with toys,
socializing with other cats or by doing outdoor activities, if possible.
Playing with Toys
Cats love to play, especially the squeaky ones. You can play with them using toys
with bells, toys with strings, and laser pointers. All you need to do is initiate the play
by dropping a toy with bells attached to it, then shake it to produce noise. Your cat
will surely be curious about what is going on and they ll be ... Show more content on

It does not mean you automatically need another cat in your home. You can
introduce your pet to one of your friends that owns another cat in a neutral territory.
Once they get acquainted, you may have them two become exercise partners. At least
two cats are likely to be more active than a lonesome feline.
A pair of cats who get along well will get plenty of exercise through their own
wrestling and chasing games. I ve known older cats who still wrestle like kittens,
said Dr. Jean Hofve, an author and a manager of Little Big Cat in Denver.
If you do not know another cat owner, you may consider buying another one. It is
easier for your first cat to play often with the new one, provided they have been
introduced properly. Your pet will never be alone again.
Engaging the Outdoors
If you and your cats are cooped up in the house, why not take the fun outside and
get some fresh air. Cats needed to be harnessed properly before taken outside so they
won t just run off. The cat harness must be secure and comfortable on them, because
you do not want to hurt their body, skin, and damage their coat. Once your pet is
ready, head outside and allow them to sniff their surroundings and get familiar with

The report also describes about the effects of music on memory and studying.
The main purpose of my report is that if anybody interested in opting a career in
music field can easily get a lot of information from my research work which will
clear all it s doubts.
For my research work, I have used google for half of my research work. Apart from
that, I have preferred NAIT library to add more information to my report work.
During my research work, I found a lot of information about categories of music and
it s effects but was unable to find information regarding about music on NAIT library.
I would like to thank my readers for reading my report and give any suggestion for
my report.
I am going to present my report within few days on June 8, 2016.

Persuasive Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is a serious problem that continues to take thousands of lives each
year. Drunk driving is highly illegal, highly dangerous, and 100% preventable. It
must be put to rest. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, drunk driving fatalities increased by nearly 5% from 2011 to 2012.
This trend is moving in the opposite direction that it should be. The NHTSA also
reports that, on average, somebody is killed in a drunk drivingaccident every 53
minutes. Every 2 minutes, somebody will be injured by a drunk driver. It is not
uncommon that those injured are sober, and mere victims of another motorist s
poor decision to drive under the influence of alcohol. My best friends father was
driving home, sober, from a work function in May of 2007. A driver with a Blood
Alcohol Content of .281 struck his vehicle. The legal limit for BAC is .08. My
friend s father was killed in the accident. While I did not know the family at the
time, I can see the effects this tragedy has on the family today, seven years later....

Offenders are arrested, fined, and often tried and sent back to jail if they harmed
anybody. The $30 spent on drinks at the bar suddenly turns in to thousands of
dollars for things such as bail, fines, legal fees, the list goes on and on. These
expenses could have been avoided by sparing a few bucks for a taxi, or maybe
even no cost at all if a designated sober driver was assigned. My high school friend s

Disadvantages Of Drinking
DAMAGES OF DRINKING
In our country, the drinking age increases day by day. The research shows that it starts
from 13 ages. Many teens use alcohols. Some of them try it just for one time, and
they can
leave them easily but the others can not overcome it. They can use them for many
reasons.
In my opinion, they should not use them in their early ages because it is bad for
themselves in
many ways. When they use it in early ages, it can be problem for their health and, it
can be
in a bad way. Also, it can cause some financial problems, and they can have some bad

in their life. It affects our success too.

are
drinking , it leads to the traffic accidents, so we must take care of the using alcohol.
In addition, drinking can cause some financial problems. Today, drinks are too
expensive
to buy it, they need more money. If they are young, it is not possible that they can
drink for
too many times. For me, it encourages them to be robbed because they will find the
solution
to take the money from the other people. Even they can steal the money from their
parents.
At the beginning, they will start to borrow money from their friends, then they will
want more
money from their parents. Day by day, in their family, some financial problems will
appear,
so to steal will be charming for the young alcohol users. Also, these bad things make
Life Events And Stress, Stressors And Frustration
Boot Camp Days Finally, it has come, the final paper! Although I will miss all the
great things we learn about in class every week, I will not miss having to think of
information to type in these papers. This week the topics I have chosen to discuss
are; life events and stress, stressors and frustration. The best way I can relate to
these topics is by talking about my personal experiences at Navy Boot Camp. The
worst eight and a half weeks of my life.
The Good Beginning
My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago,
destination Great Lakes, to become a sailor. At the airport, I was full of many
different thoughts and emotions, being excited, but scared of what was to come.
Arriving at the Chicago O Hare airport we were met by a group of Petty Officers who
were a lot nicer than I thought they would be. Before we left the airport, we had to
throw out anything we were not supposed to have, lip balm, lotions, soaps, we
couldn t even keep our toothbrushes. That was fine, at least I wasn t getting yelled at.
Then we loaded up onto a bus and headed to the base.
The Start of the Worst Arriving on base, we pulled up to a building and quickly
loaded off the bus and filed in one by one. There were three different people all
yelling different directions. Sadly, the Petty Officers who picked us up from the
airport, were not Recruit Division Commanders (RDC). My hope of everything
continuing to go well was shot down very quickly. Just being there five

camp was when I went on the zip line. At first I was frightened to go on it, but after
all it was fun. But, I did get stuck in wedgie town and was stuck there for a few

  • 2. Study Habits By Gender At The Library Kendall Nelson ATH 175 Dr. Peterson November 20, 2015 Ethnographic Paper: Differences in Study Habits by Gender at King Library A library, by definition, is a place set apart to contain books, periodicals, and other material for reading, viewing, listening, study, or reference, as a room, set of rooms, or building where books may be read or borrowed (Merriam Webster). However, for students at Miami University, the word library may have different connotations. After asking several fellow students the first word that comes to mind when someone talks about the library, the responses I received varied from the expected books , study , and focus , to more personal emotions such as sad and depressed . King Library, named for longtime library director and benefactor Edgar Weld King, has been the largest library and main scholarly hub at Miami University since 1966. Open 24 hours a day, you are bound to see students studying, socializing, or even sleeping at any given hour of the day in King. Comprised of four floors, including the basement, students are expected to meet the noise level expectations of each floor; students should anticipate a more relaxed and loud experience in the basement whereas the third floor maintains a level of almost absolute silence. For the past several weeks, I have been observing students and their studying habits in the basement and cafГ© area of King Library. In particular, I have been interested in how the gender of the student has an
  • 3. The s Present And Past History During The Time Of The... Give me liberty or give me death. This quote was spoken by Patrick Henry. This paper will discuss Massachusett s present and past history during the time of the Revolutionary War; as well as the causes of the war, Sons of Liberty, and important battles. Boston was where the action began. It began with taxes being raised, acts being made, such as the Stamp act. They were upset because legislature was taxing the Americans without a representative for the people(Bomboy). British forces arriving was another cause. Then, the BostonTea Party and the Boston Massacre occurred. Key figures and leaders came forward, such as Paul Revere, Samuel Adams ,and John Hancock and they started calling for action(Sword She Seeks Under Liberty). Meanwhile in Worcester, political control was with the Americans, but the court was under control of the British. The British were attempting to regain control by marching on the courthouse where the citizens were gathered. The citizens held the British forces back but later were afraid that without protecting the courthouse at night, the British would take control of the courthouse, then take their tools, livestock, or farms as punishment and this sent people into more disarray. Tensions were escalating between people, so reasonable patriots called for a meeting of several counties that were involved in this. Meanwhile, British General Thomas Gage decided that he would hold the troops in Worcester at the time. He would take the Courthouse back

The fuzzy logic gives decision rules and fusion motivation for image fusion [17]. the two inputs images are converted into membership values based on a set of predefined MFs, where the degree of membership of each input pixel to a fuzzy set is determined. Then, the fusion operators are applied to the fuzzified images. The fusion results are then converted back into pixel values using defuzzification. 1) Fuzzy sets: The fuzzy sets are used to describe the gray levels of the input images. we have two inputs and one output. the two inputs are ; the first input is the Pan image and the second input is the first principal component( PC 1 ) of the MS ... Sears Corporate Social Responsibility As Sears Holdings has continued to grow so rapidly there has been some down falls within the company, this is not to say that due to the downfalls they cannot have a stronger rising. As the down size to help increase their profits once again, it is seen to be helpful that they have such a great business ethics as their backbone. The relationship between ethics and law seem to be that they coincide with one another, they both rely on each other to be able to function. Without the law the ethics wouldn t work and without ethics the laws placed within the company wouldn t function properly. • 8. Essay on Henry VI and the Wars of the Roses From his fifteen year minority to the inept rule of the rest of his reign, Henry VI was a child , at least as far as governing ability was concerned. The period of his minority and the time that he was the titular king laid the groundwork for the Wars of the Roses. Had Henry been an intelligent king, with at least some political acumen, and the ability to win the respect of his nobles, their may have never been any Warsof the Roses. But his weakness in allowing government by favorites and governing foolishly on his own, at the very least directed his country down the road to a bloody civil war. Henry VI was born on December 6, 1421, and became king of England on September 1, 1422. Problems began almost immediately, though these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since it was made up of nobles, they tried to protect each others interests, something not always for the public good. Even after he had come of age, Henry suffered from a lack of popular support, something that invariably helps the other side in a civil war. He was considered a fool by the general populace, which weakened his authority. During his reign, there were many charges of seditious libel to come before the courts (Storey, 34) and they usually dealt with someone slandering the king. Common people and yeomen were calling the king a lunatic , a child, and a fool (Storey, 35). For instance, one Sussex yeoman called the king a natural fool and said that the king was no person able to rule the land (Storey, 35). Evidently, if even the common people were slandering the king, they must have had some basis for it. The king did nothing to prove the people wrong, rarely going on progresses to smooth out his image. He stayed in the Home Counties for much of his reign, and even that did not improve his image with the people. Among the upper classes, he proved over and over again that he was not a good king. He rarely, if ever, participated in Parliament, and often did not attend sittings of the king s council. When the council sat at Westminster, Henry usually managed to be somewhere else (Storey, 35). These actions give a picture of a king who, though solicited for his opinions, did not want to get involved in the

Despite 2009 fluctuations in the solar industry namely for PV technology, the growth has been fuelled by Government incentives programs to encourage solar PV technology. • 10. Ralph Waldo Emerson s Analysis Should we listen to other people s ideas? Ralph Waldo Emerson argues that we should rely on ourselves, on our own philosophies, and that we believe that what is true for us is true for all (Emerson 88). David Bohm, on the other hand argues that we should instead be open to other people s ideass, as communication can lead to the creation of something new only if people are able freely to listen to one another, without prejudice, and without trying to influence each other (Bohm 13). I personally believe that Emerson is correct. I believe that if we do not stay true to our own ideas, but instead open up and take note of other ideas, our own principles will become convoluted. If denominations of Christianity start listening to each other too much, we shall have a gigantic mess of ideas. That is why denominations exist in the first place. Too much of anything is a bad thing, including the sharing of ideas. Oversharing could very well lead to a lost society, a society where people don t know what they believe anymore. As an example I will turn to our class discussion on David Brian Winter. While I personally believe that the Bible is God s word, the never changing truth, many of the others said that perhaps the Bible was open to interpretation. I strongly believe that this is false, and that the words spoken by God and recorded in the Bible apply very much the same way to our lives as they did to the lives of those who lived a thousand years ago. During the discussion I was tempted to lower my block and consider that it could be open to interpretation, but true to Emerson s advice, I stuck to my gut, to my heart. An additional time my beliefs were tested was in my Biology class, during the discussion of evolution, and the timeline of the earth. Though scientists have made these so called facts about the earth s age appear legitimate, I knew in my heart that they were in error, and that the story of creation, and the Biblical timeline of earth was the truth. At the time I was much younger and less sound in my biblical knowledge, therefore I did not argue for my beliefs. If I were to be put in that situation now, I would be more likely to argue for the Bible, which is the truth, just as I am prepared to argue for it in any other

The copy/paste function opens the possibility for fraud, medical error and risk for malpractice claims. Fraud could occur when a copy/paste function is used and than an insurance company is billed for the procedure/services 2 or 3 times. When in reality the procedure/service was only completed once. What impact can a hybrid record have on patient care? The hybrid record could have negative and positive effects on patient care. One negative effect would be that it would take longer to access and put together if a whole file is requested. Another negative would be just where exactly is all of these paper records being kept. A positive effect of the hybrid record is that if the computer system is compromised in some way there would be a paper record. 2. How might the hybrid record change health information management? The hybrid record would change health information management because you would have to have employees to care for all these records, as well as employees for the computer files thus creating more staff and costing more. There would of course have to be training on how to properly handle the hybrid record having thus an effect on the health information management team. Who would have to implement training, schedule personnel off to take the training find yet others to cover for that training. Again costing more money and time. 3. How might a hospital overcome some of the issues created by the hybrid record? To overcome some issues created by the hybrid record you would have to have good education/training in implementation of new data, new software and soft ware
  • 15. The Hydrological Cycle And Water Budget Equation Streamflow is one of the essential components to understand the hydrological cycle and water budget equation in earth system. Climate change can affect the streamflow in many ways. Periodic increases in winter and early spring streamflows as well as higher frequency of intense storms will produce increase amount of streamflow in river channels (Miller et al., 2003; Jha et al. 2004). Land use land cover change also affect the base flow and peak flow which can cause flash flood in urban areas (Rose and Peters, 2001, Shulenberger et al., 2008, Wang and Cai, 2009). On the other hand declination of snow pack and increases in the frequency and extent of droughts will reduce annual streamflows. In addition, some plants and animals (such as fish that migrate) depend on a particular pattern of streamflow as part of their life cycles (EPA, 2014). The measurement of quality and quantity of streamflow is important for various purposes. Reliable streamflow information is needed for flood warnings and forecasts, irrigation withdrawals, wastewater discharges and reservoir releases, preservation of aquatic habitats, water quality standards, infrastructure designs for bridges, dams, and levees and for scientific investigations of climate change impact on hydrological components (USGS, 2013). Stream temperature is an important variable affecting many in stream processes such as leaf decomposition and invertebrate life history (Webster Benfield 1986, Sweeney 1984, Paul and Meyer, 2001). In

There are numerous instances where I felt that he had either not supported his premises with valid information or had negated his support in later sentences. The essay begins by drawing forth images of Puritan punishment. He cites two instances of punishment, which were particularly torturous and radical in nature. He then draws a comparison between this inhumane punishment and imprisonment by stating with irony that, Now we practice a more enlightened, more humane way of disciplining wrong doers: we lock them up in cages. He successfully taunts us with images of defenseless animals locked within inhospitable quarters, and hopes that the image will fuel the readers probable fear of human rights violations. Another statement within the fourth paragraph, which I see as an attempt to fool people, is when he says, Crime is out of control, despite the deluded happy talk by some politicians. This sentence come out sounding as if it were a fact, when in actuality it is his opinion based on feelings rather than data. I also see an attempt to discount the authority of politicians by calling them deluded. Again there is an absence of support available for either of these two opinions. To add to this debauchery, he cites another misleading statistic in the last sentence of the paragraph. He declares, Fifty eight percent of all murders do not result in a prison term. Like wise 98% of all burglaries. What does this statement conjure up within your mind when you read it? It draws a picture of a convicted felon/murderer happily leaving the courtroom free to go. The following essay considers the practicality of prisons, particularly whether the foremost purpose of the legal system by prisoning the victims is to punish offenders or to preserve the public, to rehabilitate criminals. In particular, this essay will attempt to give a balanced argument both to support and against the imprisonment system. To begin with, Telegraph News has drawn attention to the fact that, with fewer than 15 open prisons in the UK, our system is focused on punishmentrather than rehabilitation. This indicates that, first and foremost reason of prisoning the criminals in United Kingdom is to punish them by evacuating from public for a while. Community sentences and programmes that are outcome focused are the most successful penal intervention at preventing reoffending and have the support of victims. By punishing offenders government reduces the crimerate, since victims will foresee the results of their actions and probably they will feel more embarrassed to repeat their actions. • 35. Persuasive Drunk Driving Drunk driving is a serious problem that continues to take thousands of lives each year. Drunk driving is highly illegal, highly dangerous, and 100% preventable. It must be put to rest. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving fatalities increased by nearly 5% from 2011 to 2012. This trend is moving in the opposite direction that it should be. The NHTSA also reports that, on average, somebody is killed in a drunk drivingaccident every 53 minutes. Every 2 minutes, somebody will be injured by a drunk driver. It is not uncommon that those injured are sober, and mere victims of another motorist s poor decision to drive under the influence of alcohol. My best friends father was driving home, sober, from a work function in May of 2007. A driver with a Blood Alcohol Content of .281 struck his vehicle. The legal limit for BAC is .08. The $30 spent on drinks at the bar suddenly turns in to thousands of dollars for things such as bail, fines, legal fees, the list goes on and on. These expenses could have been avoided by sparing a few bucks for a taxi, or maybe even no cost at all if a designated sober driver was assigned. My high school friend s father is constantly going on about the thousands of dollars he spent after getting busted for driving after a few too many drinks, which he labels as his biggest regret in life. The same father was also never permitted to drive students on field trips, or even teach his own children how to drive, for the same reason. To put it simply, driving drunk isn t worth

The best way I can relate to these topics is by talking about my personal experiences at Navy Boot Camp. The worst eight and a half weeks of my life. The Good Beginning My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago, destination Great Lakes, to become a sailor. At the airport, I was full of many different thoughts and emotions, being excited, but scared of what was to come. Arriving at the Chicago O Hare airport we were met by a group of Petty Officers who were a lot nicer than I thought they would be. Before we left the airport, we had to throw out anything we were not supposed to have, lip balm, lotions, soaps, we couldn t even keep our toothbrushes. That was fine, at least I wasn t getting yelled at. Then we loaded up onto a bus and headed to the base. The Start of the Worst Arriving on base, we pulled up to a building and quickly loaded off the bus and filed in one by one. There were three different people all yelling different directions. Sadly, the Petty Officers who picked us up from the airport, were not Recruit Division Commanders (RDC). My hope of everything continuing to go well was shot down very quickly. Just being there five
