2. Anna Karenina Juxtaposition
The juxtaposition of two characters helps depict the themes of the novel as a whole. In the novel
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, there are two dissimilar people with similar desires. Levin is a
young man ready to propose to the woman he is infatuated with; while Anna Karenina is a young
woman that realizes her marriage is dissatisfying after meeting her lover, Alexei Vronsky.
Throughout the novel, the two characters change their viewpoints in life and become different
people than what they once were. The juxtaposition of both characters explore the themes of
country versus city life, the importance of social status, and support in difficult times. At the
commencement of the novel, Levin is introduced as a young man anxious to marry. However, he is
rejected by Kitty he delves into his work in the countryside to distract himself. In the beginning
Levin, ...recalled the shame of having been refused..., (Tolstoy.179) he tries to persuade himself that
he will soon forget the situation. Sadly, ...three months had gone by and he had still not grown
indifferent... (179). Although Levin tries to consign to oblivion his image of a family with Kitty, he
cannot help but hold onto her. Furthermore, Levin is apprehensive because, He... Show more

The surrounding that Levin places himself in illustrates the healing effect of the countryside,
oppose to the chaotic city life that Anna walks into that creates a distortion in her life. Furthermore,
the contradistinction between Levin s decision to share a part of himself with Kitty, and Anna s
decision to not share her feelings with Vronsky give perspective as to why Anna feels alone. Finally,
the social status that Levin has makes him more approachable, than Anna s social status.
Interestingly enough, both characters have similarities as well, such as the thought of death. But
ultimately, it is their past decisions that either help keep fighting, or decide to give

3. The Negative Impacts Of Internet And Businesses Online And...
Everyone in the world is embracing the new trends in Internet and Businesses Online. It has
really changed most of our youth lifestyle as they are able to make money from all corners of the
world by selling products online from their computers and smart phones. You can now drop your
orders from home or work place and your products or services are delivered. Internet and
Businesses Online have both positive and negative impacts in our society. Some people are using
this mode of business for selling illegal products like illegal drugs.
A few days ago, a man faced multiple drug related charges after long a period of the police
investigation into illicit drug dealing via the Dark Web. The man has been dealing with drugs for
a long period but finally, the police were notified and took heed to arrest him. Drug trafficking is
an illegal act, whether done online or offline, it remains illegal.
The man involved in the dark web drug dealing was 43 years old. He was arrested by the police
after officers from the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police swooped on two properties in
Sydney s inner west on Thursday morning. The officers realized that the man was in Sydney and
they quickly communicated with their partners to ensure that the man did not escape. They arrived
early in the morning and arrested the man.
Police Officers from SFC investigated the properties at Wolli Creek and Tempe at 8 am where they
found cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), more than $12,000 cash,

4. American Imperialism Research Paper
Nationalism is the ideology based on the foundation that the individual s loyalty and devotion to the
selected nation is more important than other individual or group interests. There are many things
that people are able to relate to and identify as being that can include; their culture, homeland,
family, and/or religion. There is naturally a strong loyalty towards the place people were raised.
However, that tends to bring enemies too because not everyone is born in the same place and it
tends to bring competition on which place it better bringing rift to all around. Even though with all
of the negatives that come with strong nationalism, I believe nationalism brings more good than
bad in Europe, Japan, Russia, the United States. Europe s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

5. The Role Of Media In The Media
The media controls society, whether we agree with this or not. Their depiction of acts
constitutes our image of the world around us. They shape the public perceptions, and create
moral panics. Human by nature are attracted to violence, as proven [b]y age 18, it is estimated
that the average child will have seen approximately 200,000 violent acts and 16,000 murders on
television alone (Senate Committee on the Judiciary, 1999). This shows violence is a part of our
daily lives. This is entertaining to people and therefore the media picks up on this and reports it
religiously. Stanley Cohen (1972/1980), Goode and Ben Yehuda (1994) laid out the ways in which
the media captures our attention, and capitalizes on it in many instances to push their own agendas.
This and the cause of moral panics is a repercussion of the problem frame.
The media and its portrayal of crimes are based around one idea, which leads to other problems.
This idea is the problem frame, in which the media s primary concern is capital and in order to
make capital, they need to make the news entertaining. They proceed to present a story where it is
evident, who is correct and who is wrong with just a glance (Steeves and Milford, 2015). This
usually involves talking about violent incidents or groups, such as MS 13. This framing of crime
leads to many other problems, people continually view the world as a downtrodden and violence
ridden which leads to moral panics. Cohen talked about moral panics as when a

6. The Fall Of The House Of Usher Differences
The Fall of the House of Usher is a work that has gained notoriety as both a short story and a film.
The short story written by Edgar Allan Poe is considered one of his finest works. The film, written
by Richard Matheson, stars great actors of the 1900s such as Vincent Price. However, there are vast
differences between the short storyand the film. Unlike the short story, Roderick Usher and Peter
Winthrop, who does not have a name in the short story, are not friends in the film. In addition, the
film features a lovestory between Peter Winthrop and Madeline Usher. Yet, the film does retain
Poe s original description of Roderick Usher. Nevertheless, both the short story and the film are
great works of a frightening story. The first difference

7. 10.4 Disadvantages Of Cellular Layout
10.4 COMPARISON OF INFORMATION FLOW
In existing layout the production line is very long, starting from preparatory to the end of
assembly. Because of this, communication and information flow is difficult and for each and
every thing supervisor has to walk around the line frequently. In case of new layout (cellular
layout) the information flow is effective and quick. Because, the group of people who are in the
same cell, works in compact area where each operator is in direct contact with other operator of the
cell and they know each other s job inside the cell. This makes information flow fast and accurate.
Whereas this cannot be achieved in long assembly line; where one operator is in contact with only
two operators (one operator before and one operator after his operation) so neither he can give any
suggestion nor he knows the issues of other operation i.e. workers are not participating in each other
s work, rather working independently.
10.5 COMPARISON OF REWORK LEVEL
The rework level has been decreased by 80% over existing trends. In existing production, the
rework level is approximately 5% but after implementation of recommended layout the rework
level falls to 1%. The main reason for rework reduction is due to reduction in WIP and balanced
work cells. Due to low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So there is no arguing that someone is doing a difficult operation and others are working in
easier operations. On the other hand, this is not possible in batch production because of specific
allocated work for the whole day. Similarly, in case of new layout, operators are treated as a
group inside the cell so their combined effort is to do better and produce more. Likewise,
operators cannot work carelessly because they will be immediately caught by the next operator
inside the cell, so the combined result of all these factors motivates them to do better in each

warm because it reminds you of a sunset and helps people create a perfect fantasy . The way she
s looking at him makes you want to picture that perfect guy on a perfect date with the sun setting

more comfortable. The ad is warm, beautiful and full of happiness, so the people who look at the
ad will feel like they will have a chance to a warm and beautiful life that will resemble the
advertisement. Ethos is shown in this ad by it showing us that the male character is dominant by
blowing the cigarette smoke in her face. It shows men that if they start smoking these then you ll

10. The Conflict Between Religion And Science
Is there a conflict between religion and science, or are both items compatible? This question is
addressed in the debate that is written about in the book Science and Religion, Are they Compatible,
by Daniel C. Dennett and Alvin Plantinga. Alvin Plantinga thoroughly debates the topic by covering
the compatibility of Christianity and science. He continues his argument by stating the issue of
naturalist and science harbor the conflict not the theism. Plantinga goes into detail how some
scientific theories without the help of theism has conflict and should be considered falsifiable
because of the contradictions they possess. While Alvin Plantinga does make a prominent effort to
illustrate how religion and science are compatible, there are alsosome flaws in his well developed
debate between Daniel Dennett.
Alvin Plantinga begins his side of the debate by using Christianity to demonstrate the how science
and religion do not possess a problem together. The items that are used to illustrate the point that is
being made is the different doctrines used in the different types of Christianity, such as the Apostles
Creed. There is not a conflict between the scientific fields of chemistry, physics, or the religion
Christianity. He choose to use the theory of evolution to compare religion against because the theory
of evolution does not state whether it is a guided or unguided process of creation. Plantinga
creatively debates the comparison between the two by using different religious

Believed to have reached its height in popularity in 1890, the development of electric streetcar lines
had spurred new development interest in an adjacent section of the city, Inman Park. In 1903, over
a decade after the alleged height of the springs, 47 acres surrounding the mineral spring was
purchased by the Ponce de Leon Amusement Company. The amusement company began
construction immediately, re opening the mineral springs as Ponce de Leon Amusement Resort. A
theater was the first constructed element of the resort, followed by a merry go round, casino and
smaller buildings that included scores of modern mechanical games.
Thousands came to enjoy the grand opening of the amusement resort on June 7, 1903 and after just
a year in operation the resort had recorded over a million visits. The amusement resort was accessed
by a majority of Atlantans by streetcar, which ran from the city center along Peachtree Street and
then across Ponce de Leon Avenue. The amusement resort greeted streetcar passengers along a 600
foot platform, which overlooked the resort and offered brilliant sights after sunset. The resorts
developers subsequently opened amusement resorts in Montgomery, Alabama and other cities
across the country.

12. Lost Cultural Identity In An Unknown Girl By Moniza Alvi
An Unknown Girl was written by Moniza Alvi after her hand was painted with a peacock picture
by an unknown girl in a local market in India. She is stuck between two cultures and trying to
express her quest for her lost cultural identity. Moniza Alvi moved to England to seek for a better
life with her parents after living in Pakistan for a few months after she was born. Latterly, her
relationship with India became stronger than ever after returning to discover Indian cultureas a part
of her identity that seems to have been forgotten for long.
This poem is written in free verse and the rhythm is fluid, natural like as speech with some rare
rhymes which allows her to flow her thoughts freely. She also uses a variety of techniques to further
emphasize the idea of culture and identity in different ways. Moniza Alvi often uses enjambments
but she does not use punctuation a lot and also does not follow any rules so it makes her poem
seems much livelier. Thus, it creates a sense of nostalgia and makes the tone softer and smoother....

13. Annotated Bibliography On Database Security
What is a database? According to our book, it s an organized collection of logically related data.
The information collected in a database can be effortlessly administered and accessed. However,
with each database there is a concern of security. According to our book, the goal of database
security is to protect and prevent data from unintentional or deliberate threats to its integrity and
accessibility. The databaseenvironment has grown more complex, with distributed databases
located on client/server architectures and personal computers as well as mainframes. Access to data
has become more open through the Internet and corporate intranets and from mobile computing
devices. As a result, managing data securityhas become more difficult and time consuming. The
data collected and distributed in every organization is a very important resource; therefore, all
personnel in the organization must be aware of the security threats present and the measure to take
to prevent data breach or leak. Data leak can occur unintentionally or intentionally. For example, if
the employee is being careless with sensitive data and leaving it in the open for others to access it
this would be an unintentional data leak. An intentional leak would be when a disgruntled
employee gives sensitive information to other competitors. The responsibility for database
protection goes to the database administration. It s their task to develop the procedures and policies
to avert data breach. The database

14. The Doctrine Of The Church
There are going to be times in our lives when we disagree with what someone says or another
person s opinions on a particular matter. It s unlikely that we will agree and be content with
everything that happens in our lives as we do not live in a utopian world. It is also inevitable at one
time or another that we will disagree with what the Church is teaching us especially when it comes
to moral issues such as divorce, birth control, and abortion. This is called non reception. When non
reception ensues in the Church, the teaching in questionis ineffectively expressed or judged to be
unbelievable by a large population of good, faithful Catholics (Kennedy).
As Catholics, we should believe that the Church has been given the authority by God to make
decisions regarding moral issues. The Church teaches us that we should listen and follow the
teachings of our leaders, even when we do not understand. However, it is extremely difficult to
follow through with something that you don t understand. If you were given a task at work to
accomplish, and did not know how to effectively complete it, what would you do? I personally
would ask questions, a lot of questions, until I fully understood the task at hand. Speaking on the
topic of moral issues and divorce, there are a lot of questions that could be asked to fully
understand what divorce is in the Catholic Church. This topic could pose questions such as: Why is
divorce a sin? Are there certain circumstances where it is allowed? What

More, people are protected from infection with only 6% of the life years lost to premature death
being attributed to communicable diseases. Together, communicable diseases, maternal, perinatal,
and nutritional conditions account for only 7% of all deaths in the country. These can be attributed
to high levels of care for environmental and public health, which is also indicated by the fact that
roughly 100% of the Danish population has access to both clean water and improved sanitation,
both protective against communicable diseases.
Although Denmark has been remarkable in protecting its citizens from communicable diseases,
deaths resulting from injury, childhood deaths, and deaths connected to pregnancy, all people must
at some point die. As a result, 88% of life years lost to premature death in Denmark are the product
of long term, non communicable disease, which makes up 90% of all death in the country. Cancer
is the largest killer in Denmark, causing 32% of all deaths. This is followed by cardiovascular
disease, which leads to 26% of all deaths. Both can be at least partially attributed to relatively
high levels of obesity, with 18.7% of all men and 17.6% of all women being obese, with even
more being overweight. This is typical of developed countries as people become accustomed to
more sedentary lifestyles and high calorie foods.

16. Traditional And Modern Family
The modern family is a controversial topic that many disagree on. Some think that today s modern
family is bad and should be more traditional, with family values of the past, while, on the other
hand, some believe that the modern family, full of technology and evolving family values, is a
good thing and should be celebrated. These opinions about the modern vs traditional familystyle are
not as important as the four main components of a family. These components are the ability to
take the idea of marriage/a relationship serious when considering starting a family, a supportive
and beneficial parent child relationship, a financially stable standing, and the ability to allow
children to make their own decisions about things like political issues. I feel that if these four
parts of a family are not met, then the family will fall apart, which is what we see a lot of in
today s age. Whether it be financial situations that drive a couple apart, a hurtful parent child
relationship, over sheltering of a child so that they follow their parents beliefs and values without
question, or the couple does not take their marriage seriously when considering starting a family,
meaning they do not openly discuss all of the above situations, financial or how to raise a child.

17. Theme Of The Devil In The White City
In Erik Larson s essay, The Devil in the White City, (2003), he investigates the way that Holmes
used the World fair to lure in his victims. Erik larson establishes his ideas by developing the main
characters in separate plots. Larson explains how the World Fair ended up in Chicago and how it
was constructed and designed, in order to connect the fair to Holmes and show how he used it to
lure in his victims. This novel was intended for anybody interested in a historic crime depicted in a
narrative based mystery, and its intense, optimistic tone helps the audience picture the suspense
before and during the fair. This essay is going to analyze how Erik Larsonused a description of blue
eyes to create a theme, and develop the two main characters.
The theme of appearance vs reality is prominent throughout The Devil in the White City. The novel
was written in 2 storylines; one for the protagonist, Daniel Burnham, and another for the antagonist,
Dr. H. H. Holmes. During the 1800 s, Burnham and his partner Root were promising, young
architects trying to make a living for themselves in Chicago. On the other hand, Holmes was a
conniving murderer who had traveled throughout the east before seemingly settling down in
Chicago. When the prospect of the World Fair arose in Chicago, both men saw this as a huge
opportunity. Burnham became a considerable leader, builder, and organizer of the fair; at the same
time, Holmes used the fair to attract victims. Larson portrayed both men as having

18. Comparing Winter s Tale And My Brother, The Artist, At Seven
In Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s Tale, and Levine s poem, My Brother, the Artist, at Seven , the
characters grow spiritually, Rising Above themselves. The characters in both the novel and the
poem share this charactersistic. Rising above one s self is not only a figurative theme in the
characters, but also a literal theme. Beverly Penn, Peter Lake, and Cecile Mature in Helprin s novel,
as well as the young boy in Levine s poem, all show similiar traits of rising above. Beverly Penn
rises above herself in some very meaningful circumstances in Mark Helprin s novel, Winter s
Tale. One moment in the novel in which Beverly is shown rising above herself is when, Peter
Lake watches as she plays the piano. The novel states, He had unspeakable admiration for the
way she had risen from obvious weakness to court with such passion the elusive and demanding
notes that he had heard. She had done what Mootfowl had always argued. She had risen above
herself, right before his eyes she had risen, and then fallen back, weakened, vulnerable, alone

and conquered it. She was doing something that she loved and doing it strikingly well. This was

20. Robert Louis Stevenson Moral Obligation
For Stevenson moral disagreement is basically a disagreement in attitudes but often this
disagreement includes a disagreement in beliefs. Disagreements in beliefs can be solved with
knowledge and referring to empirical evidence but that is not the case for disagreements in
attitudes. Such a disagreements persists as long as any of the parties retains an attitude that is
contrary to the other.
In my opinion saying that expressivism basically claims that ethical statements express just
exclamative and imperative sentences like Hurra! or Be kind , is not a fair description of it.
Dreier intend to show that Stevenson s thesis, expressivism, fail to give an accurate account of
disagreement because they basically repeat the contextualist s fault. In my opinion Dreier s
argument does not succeed and it mixed what seems to be an ambiguity of linguistics with an
ambiguity of the mental states. A reconsidered version of Gibbard s hyperplan could be used to
solve the problem.

cases, can be determined. Anti realists like Stevenson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The questions discussed above lead, in my opinion, to the capital question of the purpose of moral.
I consider that Stevenson s main contribution with the inclusion of attitudes is to facilitate the
understanding of the aim of morality. Contrasting attitudes cannot be solved until one party accept
the other s attitude. The implication of this is clear, moral disagreement tends to create common
attitudes about certain aspects of the world, e.g. stealing or murder. It is not the case of to establish
the truth or falsehood of certain moral claims. It is a question of establishing in common attitudes.

21. Glucosamine Chondroitin
Glucosamine chondroitin has been used for decades to treat human osteoarthritis. Only recently has
this natural and safe supplement product been used to treat dog arthritis safely and effectively
without the risks of dangerous side effects. Because arthritis joint disease in humans is exactly the
same disorder as that found with dog arthritis, glucosamine chondroitin is also very affective for
treating this joint disease in canines.
Although there are many prescription medications which are often prescribed to treat dog arthritis,
many of them also have been shown to cause significant and often times very dangerous side
effects in canines. On the other hand, glucosamine chondroitin is 100% safe and offers virtually no
danger or side effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The supplement product comes in either pills and tablet form or a liquid version. Many people
prefer giving their animals the liquid version of glucosamine chondroitin because of how easy it
is compared to pills and capsules. Additionally, a single dosage of the liquid version of
glucosamine contains as much of the product as five or six pills and tablets. This makes it far
easier to give the recommended daily doses of the chondroitin to the animal without having to force
pills down his or her throat.
It is simply a matter of pouring the liquid glucosamine chondroitin over the dogs food at meal time
and allow him or her to ingest it along with the feed. There are no negative effects of mixing the
glucosamine with the food. Some research even shows that the supplement product is more easily
absorbed by the body when it is taken with food. Most pet owners simply give one dose a day of
the product. However, some believe that splitting the dose of glucosamine chondroitin and giving
their animals to doses each day is more effective.
Glucosamine chondroitin is a widely used supplement product for treating canine osteoarthritis
without the risks of negative side effects.

On Tuesday 06/20/17 at 1158 hours I was dispatched to a physical domestic which occurred in the
2800 block of D ST SE in the City of Auburn, King CO, WA. Dispatch stated the reporting person
was a school bus driver, Tamie Scholter, but she had relayed the information through her
transportation center. Dispatch stated a maleand femalewere in a physical fight on D ST SE near D

I located phone numbers for both Ward and Ramirez in a local database. I called the number for
Ward, and a male, who identified himself as Kevin, answered the phone. Kevin told me he did not
know who ward was.
I called the number for Ramirez, and there was no answer.
Officer Lindgren spoke to Simpson and asked her about Ramirez, and she told him
Ramirez was not involved and had not been there.
I called Scholter, and asked her what she saw. Scholter told me as she was driving by D ST SE in

25. Effects of Slavery on America
Effects of Slavery on American History
Andrew Avila

The U.S. Constitution is primarily based on compromise between larger and smaller states, and
more importantly, between northern and southern states. One major issue of the northern and
southern states throughout American history is the topic of slavery. Although agreements such as
the Three Fifths Compromise in 1787, and the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865 were adapted to
reduce and outlaw slavery, it took many years for slavery to be completely abolished and allow
blacks the freedom they had been longing for. The Three Fifths Compromise was a agreement
reached at the Constitutional Convention of 1787 in Philadelphia in which ... Show more content on

This prevented the bill from becoming an actual law. President Lincoln took active measures to get
the proposed bill on the Republican Party platform for the 1864 presidential election. After several
months of debate, the bill finally reached the two thirds vote on January 31, 1865, although the
signed amendment s archival copy states the bill was passed February 1, 1865[8]. After the
approval of the Thirteenth Amendment, Congress passed four statutes known as the Reconstruction
Acts. The Reconstruction Congress was required to pass two laws that implemented the Thirteenth
Amendment[9]. The first was the Civil Rights Act declaring that freed slaves were allowed to
enjoy the same rights as white people. This law made it a crime on the federal level to deprived
freed slaves of these rights. The second was the Anti Peonage Act of 1867 which made the holding
of any person as a slave unlawful[10]. The Thirteenth Amendment completed the abolition of
slavery in the United States. The process to abolish slavery began with President Lincoln s issuing
of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Although the Thirteenth Amendment outlaws slavery
and involuntary servitude, officials had to selectively enforce laws such as vagrancy forcing blacks
to be subject to involuntary servitude. The southern states attitudes towards abolition made it

26. Richard Plantagenet Essay
For this project I would like to research the public opinion and reception of the political reforms
made by Richard Plantagenet as both Duke of Gloucester and King of England. Upon his
brother Edward IV s regaining of the throne in 1471, Richard gained properties and offices in the
far north of England previously enjoyed only by lords of long standing families such as the
Percys. As Duke of Gloucester, Richard served as an extension of royal power and was charged
with constructing some semblance of order. Repeatedly, Richard used his close relationship with
the king to settle disputes between nobility and local governments in favor of the latter. This
suggests an affinity for the lesser classes that continued during his brief reign. In a previous
research project I discussed Richard s 1484 Parliament and how it sought to benefit the general
public over the nobility. While this argument was backed by fairly substantial evidence as to the
intent of the laws and amendments, the public reaction to them was not addressed. Unfortunately, it
is virtually impossible to follow up on the effects of these parliamentary statutes as, after his death
in 1485, many of Richard s reforms were eradicated or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

We conducted an analysis using data collected from 140 patients through an online health
assessment questionnaire. All of the participants in study were screened for a risk of them having a
particular disease and were assigned a personalized diagnostic plan based on their risk profile using
an algorithm. The average diagnostic cost came substantially lower than the tests recommended by
usual health preventive checkup plans. This could result in highly judicious utilization of
healthcare resources, money, and participant time without creating any significant compromise in
screening sensitivity.

29. The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards
For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a
negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across
the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are
traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local
currency, your credit cardcompany calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts
the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency
situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that
you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen
expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly
installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly
making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score
which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit
card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a
percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each
dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases
(Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card

The night in the city was going to be especially cold tonight. The sky had been overcast for almost

the Bronx outside the third story apartment window that Leonard Jefferson Bennings now looked
out were saturated from the July rainstorm and shone with a glimmer he remembered seeing from
his bedroom window in Massachusetts many years ago. He wondered if he would ever get to see

Some day, we ll make those Nazi bastards pay for every inch of land they have taken. She didn t

Without even acknowledging the presence of any other human being in the room, she walked
out toward the kitchen, probably either to get a drink of water, or to find Eric, the group leader.
Leonard had always wondered why it was that she was so consumed by hatred for the Germans.
Admittedly, few people in the world had any real reason to love the Nazis, especially with them
burning their way across half of New England and in control of or allied with most of rest of the
world. Still, Christina s hatred seemed much more personal than pure patriotism; even those in the
group who had lost family in the invasion didn t show the level of unbridled hate she did.
The only clue she had ever given as to the source of her rage was one she never spoke. On the
extremely rare occasions that she was seen without a full sleeved shirt (an oddity in mid July),
Leonard had seen scars, almost like whip marks across her back. She had never spoken of them, or
even acknowledged their existence, but Leonard had always suspected that perhaps she had been

31. Cost-Benefit Analysis
Sports is one of the largest recreational activities in canada, with over 2 million kids aged 5 to 14,
took part in sports. However, our government has decreased its funding over sports. From 2014
to 2015, 201.98 million dollars were funded but from 2015 to 2016, only 196.78 milion dollars
were funded on sports. Moreover, sports participation of kids is declining. Boys now are less
likely to regularly participate in sports than they were back in 1992 and those who do compete are
involved in fewer sports. The decline rate will continue unless our government promotes sports
heavily, through schools and community sportprograms. Our governent should dedicate more
money on these programs because sports are mainly promoted by such means, sports have heath
benefits and sports make us smarter. Firstly, kids develop physical literacy through schools and

In the speech given by Woodrow Wilson on the 150th anniversary of Princeton University, what
was to become the unofficial motto, Princeton in the Nation s Service and in the Service of All
Nations, was first recited. In that address, Wilson concluded that our most important contributions
to society s well being depend on the continued pursuit of fundamental truths and basic research. I
believe he was saying that while it is imperative that we remain aware of the needs and demands
of our own circle of influence and generation, truly meaningful service to society comes through
our passion for knowledge and the desire to advance mankind. Alan Turing who was a 1938
graduate of Princeton University, Computer Scientist and Cryptanalyst and Father of Artificial
Intelligence embodied this motto. Alan Turing was a mathematical genius and inspirational
visionary, famous today for his code breaking work during World War II that saved the allies from
the Nazis. His study of mathematical logic eventually led to the birth of the field of computer
science. Although Alan Turing undeniably changed the world for the better during a time when

was British disrespected indian cultures. They outlawed sati. Which was when a wife burns herself

34. Automated Patch Deployment
Automated Patch Deployment Automated Patch Deployment The advantages of automated patch
deployment are several. This study offers an insight in some of the most noticeable benefits of the
implementation of patches especially those relating to the enhancement of production levels in a
production setting. An organization stands the chance of increasing its productivity levels at the
individual level once automated patches are deployed. As a result, the entire productivity of the
organization increases (King, 2007). Another advantage of automated patch deployment is the
enhancement of the security levels within an organization. The risk of losing confidential
information concerning clients, employees and other resources of an organization are on the rise
across the globe. Such critical information could land in the wrong hands making it detrimental to
an organization. Through the patches, it is possible to fix security problems within an organization
s network. Attackers use these vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. An effective, automated patch
deployment will be able to minimize the risk of experiencing security breaches in a timely manner
(Godbout, 2007). Compliance with different regulations can be met through automated patch
deployment. These regulations are designed to enhance the public good, as well as, uphold best
practices regarding IT infrastructure. The enhanced productivity and security that come with the

Intent of the book is to show that USA has acted as a dishonest broker between Israel and the US,

Palestinian human rights, peace processes, and their right to self determination was not brought

According to the author of this obituary, what aspects of Faraday s life and work contributed to
his reputation? How does the picture presented in the obituary compare to the picture presented in
Book 1, Chapter 4? There are two questions to answer for this TMA. To answer the first question
one needs to know the definition of Reputation: the estimation in which a person or thing is

contributed to his reputation. The second question, one needs to understand what it means to

The following statement would indicate faraday s reputation in popularity, Faraday s lectures
were so popular that they had to have one way traffic near Albemarle street, (Falconer, DVD,
2008). It is therefore a tempting thought that Faraday was an early pioneer in teaching methods
and would not look out of place in schools and television today. However, chapter four comments
about other lecturers development of similar styles of teaching, or performing to entertain the
audience, (Falconer,James, 2008). Therefore, one can only imagine that there was much
competition and that Faraday was aware of that and would encourage him to find new ways to
attract the audience, which in many ways is like a competition between television networks
today. Dr Falconer, suggested in the DVD that Faraday had had elocution lessons it was a
realisation that he must have been conscience of how he sounded to other lecturers and this was
probable because of his poorer background and would prove his need to better his performance
for his reputation, (Falconer, DVD, 2008). The comparison between the passage in the

what Faraday was. These achieve the impression of the general public seeing Faraday, as a

In Flanders Fields the soldiers spend their lives fighting for something they believe in but they
never get to see the results of what they ve fought so hard to accomplish. In Memorial Tablet, the
soldier knew that there was more to his life than dying in a war and he s mad because he never
gets to experience the greater side of life which was taken away. Though there are two
perspectives that the soldiers had, they both ended up dying before getting to enjoy life. This
proves that the negative affects of war on soldiers are that they don t get to live a normal life
because it s taken away from them by death.
Another way that war has negative effects is on the safety of civilians. During war, airmen tend
to drop bombs on civilians without thinking of the damage they can cause. In Catching Faling

war, so they knew to expect danger. A siren rang warning them of an air raid so they hid in their

These are the Chora stage, the Abjection stage and the Narcissistic stage. The Chora stage covers
the first six months of an infant s life. It is a pre linguistic stage where the infant is dominated by
a chaotic mixture of acuities, feelings and needs. It is also a stage when the infant is oblivious
about the need to distinguish itself from its mother or the world around and is fully dependent on
its mother for the gratification of its desires. This stage is followed by the stage of Abjectionwhich
occurs from 4 8 months of age. The infant at this stage becomes conscious of the differences

itself from the mother. Kristeva refers to this act of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the child has a clear perception of the subject, object and the abject. The subject (child)
submits himself to the prevailing rules and customs of the society, the object (other) opposes the
subject and disturbs the smooth run of things whereas the abject threatens the very identity and
wholeness of the subject. Objects can lead to either or both fascination and repulsion. When an
object is on the verge of destroying the subject s existence, it becomes an abject i.e. something to
get rid of. In a similar manner an abject becomes an object, when it is no longer a serious threat to
the subject s hegemony over its own self. In the Symbolic realm or the linguistic stage the child is
further separated from a connection with the mother as language itself finds meaning within its
own internal logic of differences. For example the meaning of the word hot is understood only
when we deduce the differences while comparing it with the word cold . Expanding upon this

44. Vegetarian Experiment Summary
In this lab, we conducted multiple experiments on planarians and examined their reactions toward
variety of stimuli. First and foremost, we have to be able to identify the fundamental structure of
the planarians; especially the nervous system. Planarians are grouped into Class Turbellaria. They
have a central nervous systemthat consists of 2 to 6 ventral nerve cords and subepideral nerve net
also known as cephalization. Cephalization is more advanced because the system now has more
neurons, sense cells, larger ganglia compared to the simple nerve net system. The ventral nerve
cords are connected to ganglia that lay interiorly to the ventral epidermis that close to the midline
and run the length of the body (Scott, 2014, p. 54). The information... Show more content on

However, we still have not understood how planarians respond to food. One experiment was
conducted to observe the reactions of planarians toward food or chemical stimuli. When four
planarians were exposed to four different food source, 43% of the planarians moved to the first
location (squash baby food). 25% moved to the second location (chicken baby food), 2% moved
to the third location (control group), and 29% moved to the fourth location (mixture of squash and
chicken baby food). According to Inoue, planarians will release chemotaxis as a response when
they are exposed to chemical. In this case, planarians will operate the chemoreceptors to identify
the location of the food. When four planarians were placed in the middle, they quickly marked their
destinations. They would continue to move until they reach the place with high solute
concentration. In this experiment, we do not know if the all the planarians were hungry or full. For
some of the planarians that quickly moved away, we can determine that they were hungry. And
when they sensory cells detect the chemical, they quickly reacted. However, planarians references
of food are not important in this case. Despite the fact that all the foods are different, planarians
might tend to move toward to places that closest to them or sense the strongest chemical signal
from. As we know that planarians are carnivores, they prefer to feed on organic compounds and

45. The Theory Of The Scientific Method
If we understand how researchers separate fact from fiction perhaps we too can avoid some of the
pit falls of faulty reasoning and unwarranted conclusions in our everyday lives (Zimbardo, 2001). I
believe this is why scientists including psychologists think more logically rather than emotionally.
They need and/or want proof of a phenomenon and so they go looking for that proof. Until they
find an answer concerning that particular phenomenon, they will most likely not stop conducing
experiments. This is how hypotheses are formed. Someone asks a question and then figures out the
best way to get the answer to that question. It is a remarkable process. The part of that process that
I will be talking about is the hypothesis. To put it simply, a hypothesis is an educated guess; better
yet, it is a prediction. These predictions are drawn by logic and can be tested. Formulating a
hypothesis is the second step in the scientific method. If more and more hypotheses related to a
theoryturn out to be true, the theory gains in credibility (King, pg. 27). After you have formed a
hypotheses, you will need to test your predication. Depending on what the hypotheses is
concerning, you could test it in a case study, survey, or even a laboratory experiment. I hypothesized
that more men, rather than women, would say that having an affair was okay in certain
circumstances. I told my participants that the only thing they were to consider an affair was sexual
intercourse only. For

46. The Book Of Sand Essay
Jorge Luis Borges is a famous Spanish author, known best for his short stories. In this paper, I will
discuss several short stories written by Mr. Borges, what influenced him in his writings, and a brief
history of his place of origin, Argentina.
Borges The Book of Sand is the story of a man who is visited by a stranger trying to sell a
quot;holy book quot; called the Book of Sand. The narrator looks at the book and is unable to
see the first or last pages of it because, as the stranger explains, the number of pages is infinite.
The narrator is fascinated by the book and buys it, only to become obsessed with it, until the point
that it is all he thinks about. He eventually gets rid of it by mixing it up in a pile of many other

He claims that quot;man s quest for truth is an utterly vain task quot;.
Jorge Luis Borges was born August 24, 1899 to a financially comfortable family in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. His father was a writer, a professor of psychology, and modern languages. He learned
at home with a tutor until he was nine and began to learn English at home from his father, who
always encouraged him to write. He came from a very literate family, and shared much
cherished time with his father s books. Borges once said quot;for years I believed I had been
brought up in a suburb of Buenos Aires, a suburb of dangerous streets and conspicuous sunsets.
What is certain is that I was brought up in a garden, behind lanceolate iron railings, in a library of
unlimited English books. quot;(Here, he was referring to his father s library) He was also greatly
influenced by published poets and writers who were friends of the family and often visited.
In 1914, before World War I, Borges family went to Europe where they traveled until the war was
over. During these years of traveling, Borges, in his teenage years, depended a lot on the company
of his readings (mainly German philosophy and poetry).
When his family returned to Buenos Aires, they were greeted by a more economically flourishing
and modernized (due to European immigrants) home. Researchers note that many of Borges poems

47. How Does Chimpanzees Use Language
Can animals learn to use language or is it all a load of monkey business? Animals can not use
language because language is an exclusive skill that belongs to humans. Chimpanzees can
communicate with each other, but that doesn t qualify as language. One type of Chimpanzee is
learning in a laboratory, however, they are only learning simplistic symbols.
One reason why Chimps communicate but don t use language is they can be trained since birth, but
they still won t be able to communicate with the complexity level that humans do. Kanzi the
Bonobo learned 348 symbols at the age of 26 which is the equivalent 3,000 English words. Even if
animals could use a language they could very well not be able to speak clearly because of their
low count of known words. The Bonobo Kanzi is living in a 10 million dollar lab/ home complex.

skeptical scientists insist that when chimpanzees or other animals are taught to use words or signs,
more often than not they are performing a type of trick for a treat. This gives supporting evidence
that animals aren t improving their way of communication but doing a task for their exquisite food.
The animals that are learning at the 10 million dollar house laboratory are learning how to

they just poke buttons and the humans have to decrypt what they want to say. For example it says

Moreover, there has been a concerted effort to converge countries reporting standards. But despite
this effort substantial differences in countries reporting regulation and practices remain. This
paper explores these differences and the reasons why they exist as well as why they are likely to
persist in the foreseeable future. My analysis and comparison are conducted at a fairly high level to
emphasise that reporting regulation is a part of a country s broader institutional framework.
Throughout the paper, I give special emphasis to enforcement issues because of two related reasons.

49. Modern Day Self-Portrait
We started the day off by showing the students the slideshow on what is a self portrait. They
were extremely engaged answering questions as we moved through the slides. I started off
asking them questions about the first slide. Is there any artist they recognized? I snuck in one of
my own self portraits on the first slide to see if they could guess it was actually one I had
painted. In addition, some of the students were able to guess Van Gogh, Picasso, and Frida
Kahlo. One of the students pointed to my portrait and said it looked like me. It was fun because I
replied back, yes it was me. We then went into a discussion on what makes up a self portrait and
how one could express themselves through a self portrait. As we further discussed the self portrait I
continued through my slideshow. One of the topics was the difference between... Show more content

specific elements could we see in the self portraits represented on the slideshow. We continued to
discuss how the artists expressed who they were through their self portraits. Next the students and
I talked about how in order to improve on their artwork they would need to practice, practice,
practice. I showed them a self portrait I drew at their age and then one I painted not too long ago.
During this presentation, even though students were very engaged and surprisingly expressive with
their answers, I felt they were a little restless. I asked the students what could I improve upon with
the lesson and they suggested a worksheet they could use to follow along and remember the artists.
The approach I took by engaging the students in their educational environment is known as,
progressive education. According to Sadker and Zittleman (2012), The role of the teacher is to

On Saturday, the Rwandan government named 24 baby gorillas, as part of its annual Kwita Izina
naming ceremony that takes place in Rwanda s Volcanoes National Park every year. The event,
largely considered a popular tourist attraction, has been taking place for the past 11 years. This
year, in a scene The Guardian describes as reminiscent of Planet of the Apes, a dozen performers in
hairy gorilla suits took the place of the 24 baby gorillas, which were not present at the ceremony.
The naming ceremony pays homage to a Rwandan tradition celebrating the birth of a child. Aside
from its role as a tourist attraction, the event sheds light on the importance of conservation in the
country. Today, the World Wildlife Fund estimates that there are

52. The Effects Of Socialization In The Lost Boys Of Africa
Every being in their lives will experience the effects of socialization throughout their lives, and the
Lost Boys of Africa are no exception. In anything, the Lost Boys, in some ways, may have been
exposed to a greater number of sociological constructs than most American children their age. From
the effects of dependency theory, to ethnic discriminationand prejudice that began in their homeland
of Sudan and followed them to the United States, and experiencing problems with assimilation,
these boys have truly showed effects of socialization. Perhaps the first sociological construct
demonstrated in the film was the effects of Dependency Theory. Much of Africa has a history of
being colonized by Europe at some point in its history, and in the case of Sudan, it was largely
under British control. Under British rule, Sudan was essentially divided into Northern and Southern
regions. While the North continued to practice its traditions and language, Christianity and the
English language began to spread throughout the South. When the British left Sudan, the
superpower attempted to prepare the country for self government by establishing a parliament. The
problem was that this new government was established predominantly in the North with little
representation of Southern Sudan. After the British left, years of conflict quickly arose and
eventually lead to civil war. According to the conflict theory of dependency, Sudan was taken
advantage of, then eventually left on its own. One

4.List master teacher s rules for student behavior (in addition to procedures):
Students are required to listen to what the teacher says at all times. Before going to the teacher
with a problem with a fellow student, they have to work it out first. However, the younger grades
usually go to the teacher first; however, the teacher will tell them to work it out. This ends up
working the majority of the time, though there are times when the teacher needs to step in.

55. The Power Of Friendship In The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
Many people will walk in and out of your life but only true friends will leave footprints in your
heart Eleanor Roosevelt. What is true friendship, what is friendship for that matter? Webster
dictionary says friendship is a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual
affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations, the emotions or conduct of friends; the
state of being friends. But how powerful can this nine letter word really be? In The Kite Runner a
book written by Khaled Hosseini it shows the true power of friendship, all the ups and downs, and
how two friends battle love, trust, betrayal, and friendship. Amir is the son of a wealthy and well
known man in the northern area of Kabul. Amir develops a friendship with one of his servants
named Hassan. From the being you could see the love that Hassan has for Amir especially from his
first word, which was Amir.
Amir and Hassan enjoyed doing everything together. However, Amir never considered Hassan
and him as friends. The reasons for this in many ways are because Amir is a Pashtun and Hassan
is a Hazara. But, they were kids; they fed from the same breast and they learned to crawl together,
nothing was going to change that. Amir spent most of the first twelve years of his life with
Hassan. They used to play hide and seek, cops and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
