How does an author or their work get placed into an overall category theme such as
Romanticism? Is it based solely on the time period for which the author is published or is it
because of the style of their work? The reason for this puzzling question is because I originally did
not understand how The Legend of Sleepy Hollow would fit into the Romanticism period. The
Legend of Sleepy Hollowcontains suspense, a ghost story and a heroine with conflict but my

into the Romanticism period due to its eloquent descriptions and detail to the nature around the
village, the attention and focus on the main character and the addition of ghost stories and
