Pre Surgery Procedure
When deciding if a patient is a good candidate for surgery, a number of considerations need to be
taken. Can the patient safely undergo the surgery? Will the benefits of this surgery outweigh the
negatives? For instance, if a patient is elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical cost to
undergo the surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what precautions must
be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). In all cases, it is crucial to have a
detailed medical history of the patient. Several pre surgery precautions need to be followed in order to
minimize risk during surgery. The patient undergoing surgery should have an empty stomach. There is
a high risk of regurgitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A needle is used to
penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The needles most often used in this type of
surgery are curved. The curvature of the instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up the area
without intrusion of the underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the needle s
journey through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and insures proper
angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the suture are used to create a
proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug against the tissue, not too tight and not too
loose, so that proper healing is accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut with a suture scissor.
Sutures may either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted suture is the most universal
technique used for wound closure. Both absorbable and non absorbable sutures are routinely used in
oral surgery. Once the wound is fully closed, the patient s surgery is complete and the healing process
can begin. It is important that proper pain control medication is provided post operatively so the
patient is more comfortable during this time. The prescriber should be aware of the addictive
properties in opioids and prescribe the correct type of analgesic accordingly to the

Four Major Sects Of Judaism Essay
Judaism of the second temple period, from the fifth century BC to the first century AD, is key to
understanding Jesus life and work (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 25). Maintaining their identity, socially
and religiously, was intrinsic to their existence after their release from captivity. Core beliefs and
practices remained, but over time, varying understandings of how to live out their faith life became
evident among various groups. This essay will define the purpose of the synagogue in 1st century of
Judaism, describe the characteristics and beliefs of four major sects of Judaism, and describe their
expectations regarding the coming of the Messiah.
The purpose of the synagogue was a meeting place for worship that focused primarily on reading of
the Torah and prayer. During the time of the Babylonian exile, temple worship was not possible. ...

43). While there were a number of groups who fell into this category, true zealots were those
attributed to the Jewish War from 66 AD forward who were committed to violent revolution against
the Romans (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 43).
A number of pieces of literature exist that coincide with the awaited messiah as noted above. The
Pharisees anticipated a messiah of earthly king stature, and militarily he may purge Jerusalem from
nations that trample her down [Pss Sol. 17:23f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38). However, the Essenes
beliefs resonate closely with the following passage: They shall depart from none of the counsels of the
law to walk in the stubbornness of their hearts (...) until there shall come the Prophet and the Messiahs
of Aaron and Israel [1QS 9:10f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38).
Defined by their past, Jews in the 1st century fought to maintain their core identity. However, there
were differences in beliefs causing the formation of a number of dominant sects within

The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist
I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that
she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost.
Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side
through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his
funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with
insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart
attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they
were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of
his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was.
We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated
after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel
to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be
opposed because our society is highly conservative. In a country where marriage between same sex is
highly opposed, there is a small chance for the allowance of assisted suicide. Religious people may
believe that life is God s gift and we as human beings do not have any right to take it away. However,

Reality Changes From People Across The World
Reality changes from person to person. Whether something is real or not is determined through the
individual. One may think it s true whereas the other may believe differently. It is common to form
misconceptions on a subject that is relatively new and upcoming. Sports are generally one of the most
common ways we conquer boredom. This entertainment involves, according to the Oxford Dictionary,
physical exertion as well as brain stimulation. With technology emerging, the online gaming industry
has become a vast media culture. Connecting millions across the world, the online gaming world
provides users with an interactive database which engages both their body and their intellect. Gamers
learn to utilize their problem solving skills and are forced to come up with strategies that require quick
decisions. E sports encourage participants to train their brains so that they are able to deliver a rapid
response in certain situations. Gamers face a great deal of pressure as they conform to the world of
entertainment and competition. Therefore, E sports should be considered real as online gamers and
sports athletics both provide an audience with a source of entertainment as well as being competitive.
The entertainment industry provides its audience a way to release tension by showcasing various
talents that stimulate the brain. Audiences enjoy watching the players practice and so for online
games, such as the popular games known as League of Legends, gamers stream themselves training.

Examples Of Gerald In The Inspector Calls
In this play we can notoriously see that Gerald is a selfish person, who wants to marry Sheila not only
because of business, also because she is pretty. He does not care about other people; a clear example is
that he cheated on Sheila with Eva Smith. Gerald is not committed to his relationship, this is shown
when he unsuccessfully tries to hide that he had known Eva. In the end, his efforts make the revelation
ruder. He does not care about Sheila s feelings and he has not gained a new sense of social
responsibility, understanding that he, too, was part of the events that led Eva s suicide. This is why
Sheila is unsure whether to take back the engagement ring or not. Croft s family has a very high status
in society, and since being in business with the Birlings would not necessarily be good for their
company, Gerald is engaged to Sheila because he wants to. His parents are not happy as they think she
is not good enough for Gerald and because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can justify this not only because of what he says, but also because of his actions. He is the only
character in the play, not counting the Inspector, that tried to help Eva Smith or Daisy Renton and we
can see this when he says I did not ask for anything in return . Even Though Gerald gave her shelter,
food and took her out from the Palace, after some months he abandoned her and their love relation
broke Daisy knew it was coming to an end. So I broke it off definitely before I went . But on the other
hand he does not care about Sheila, who is his fiancee and who he cheated on her with Eva Smith and
all he had for her was at least it s honest . This shows us that Gerald did not care about how Sheila
would feel about him cheating on her and how it would affect her. He did not even feel guilty or told
her about his affair until the inspector s arrival. However, when Inspector Goole arrived, he wanted to
justify himself and his acted by saying that despite his affair he was being honest with

Salt cedar, otherwise known as Tamarix, is an invasive phreatophyte that has invaded the southwestern
parts of the United States and Mexico. Although, they are native to Eurasia and were brought to the
US to stabilize sand banks and to provide shade; salt cedar is like many invasive plants, extremely
harmful to the native species, such as: Fremont Cottonwoods, Salt Grass Meadows, and Gooding s
Black Willows. In addition, tamarix outcompetes and replaces the natives in Riparian ecosystems.
Another huge impact is, water conservation, salt cedar can absorb 200 gallons of water in just a day
and will choke the watercourse, eventually leading to flooding. However, several treatments have

Organizational Behavior ( Ob )
Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to
achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His
people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing
organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The
Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel
Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines
the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a
personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict
associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and
judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with
lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific
areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager.
Keywords: organizational behavior, Myers Briggs, ISTJ, personality, workplace

Organizational behavior (OB) can help organizations follow the covenant model God provided in the
Bible by creating healthy attitudes and processes and reducing conflict in the workplace (Fischer,

Titanium Cerium Ferrite ( Tcf ) Was Prepared By A Simple...
Abstract Titanium cerium ferrite (TCF) was prepared by a simple solvothermal method. The obtained
TCF was applied as magnetic adsorbent for the extraction of uranium ions from aqueous solutions.
The synthesized magnetic nanoadsorbent was characterized using FT IR, XRD, Raman, BET surface
area, VSM and TEM. Various parameters such as solution pH, initial concentration, sorbent dosage
and rate of adsorption were investigated using batch adsorption experiments. The optimum pH was
found to be 6.0 and the equilibrium was achieved in approximately 120 min. Kinetic studies indicated
that pseudo second order kinetic model best describes the adsorption behavior. The adsorption
isotherms were well fitted by Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the maximum adsorption capacity
was evaluated to be 555.555 mg/g at 55 ⁰C. The thermodynamic parameters calculated from the
adsorption data suggested that the adsorption of U (VI) onto TCF was a spontaneous and endothermic
nature of process. The highest values of uranium desorption was achieved using 0.1 M HNO3 as the
desorbing agent. The results indicate that TCF has potential as an adsorbent for sorption U (VI), using
a simple, fast separation method for removal of uranium ions from aqueous solution.

Beach Erosion in Southern California
Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the coast
and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience. Especially in
southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and environmental impacts on
our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to global warming melting our polar
ice caps, this erosion is having profound effects on coastal societies and has damaging effects on
infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have come up with various methods such as hard
and soft engineering in order to both prevent and mitigate the effects of beach erosion.
Introduction
There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The
erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink.
In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand
being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can happen for
a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive waves than
constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive waves erode and
constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches in southern
California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough sediment from the

Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they
have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in
the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this
time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return.
Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo
had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine
covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family
with not as much money as Juliet s. There was also a social class where the Duke and Duchess held
the most power and the peasants had the least power. Juliet s family ... Show more content on

One of those instances is at the end of the play when Juliet uttered, ...drunk all, and left no friendly
drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make die with
a restorative. . By uttering this, it shows how she was wanting so badly to be with Romeo that she
would take her life to do so. If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would
never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part
about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision
making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. Today, everyone is able in a way to
relate to Romeo and Juliet at some point, by going through the process of being in love . Love is able
to make your decision making impaired, since what you do is to please the love you have and share

Just Thinking about My Day
I sit down on the hard bench and eye the menu with all the disinterested acuity of a curator unpacking
artifacts. The restaurant is sparsely populated a blond couple by the window, two truckers at the bar in
denim and the company shirt, a party of and a small round clock that hangs on the wall to my right
shows 4:00 pm. It is Sunday afternoon, and I have been driving for seven hours . A customer comes in
and the noise of the bell on the door makes me turn to the window; a light drizzle falls here and there
on the turf in the parking lot and on the blacktop of the distant highway, from which the hum and
rumble of cars is still audible, still calling to me in the dimness . A strange familiarity invades my
senses at that moment, like the familiarity that comes to one in dreams when confronted with some
impossible landscape. Pale light filters down through the blotched rain clouds, eases through slits in
the half drawn shutters and falls listlessly on the table, a series of concentric circles, wan and
shimmering, like moonbeams on the surface of a rippling pond , textured by the shadow of sycamores
that lean and sway outside the window in the mist. I watch the changing patterns of light and shadow,
the shapes making and unmaking, and my imagination is tempted to new and unspeakable objects. I
have seen this all before. Where? The light and the shadow, the clock on the wall, the yellowed pages
of the menu no it was not these things that were familiar. It was something

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now a
concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and
technology. Many people believe that computers will become self aware or sentient and view
humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the technology
should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help catapult research and
the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the technology offers. The
complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren t obvious, but there are more benefits to
improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the negative effects people believe
will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial intelligence that many institutes and
companies believe in. However, they all share the same belief of a self aware, conscious, human like,
computer system, the type of AI people fear. Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone
or laptop, one must consider that if something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be
treated like one? And if not, is it discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery
treated people based on race or social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Some might argue

The Struggle Of Control And Women
Ah knows uh few things, and womenfolks thinks sometimes too! Aw naw they don t. They just think

one. Times and scenes like that put Janie to thinking about the inside state of her marriage. Time came
when she fought back with her tongue as best as she could, but it didn t do her any good. It just made
Joe do more. He wanted her submission and he s keep on fighting until he felt he had it. (Hurston 71)
(E) In this passage, Hurston effectively conveys the struggle of control and the roles of gender in a
relationship. The dominating figure of the relationship is the man, Jody, who oppresses her and
exercises his power over her in order to boost his social reputation and to retain the control in the
relationship. Men are capable of proving their dominance by belittling and disrespecting women, who
are deemed as the less stronger and more delicate ones in the relationship. These beliefs are held by
Jody, as he deems women less intelligent than men, because they see ten things and don t understand
one. Janie, opposing these traditional values set by their society, has a different viewpoint, believing
that women can be smart and ambitious. As much as she challenges him and invalidates his
arguments, Jody does not care about a fair argument, and he only retaliates further. In their
relationship, her verbal fight is no match against his physical dominance over her, which

How Effective Was Opposition To The Nazi Regime Between...
How effective was opposition to the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945?
Hitler s dictatorship of Germany reformed it into a totalisation state, which meant that the Nazi party
were the only party that held political importance and therefore other opposing parties were banned.
Opposition consisted of Germany s general public, Churches and religious followings, such as
Christian and Protestant, and anti Nazi groups. The control the Nazi party had in Germany made it
difficult for any opposition to be able to have an effect on the Nazi regime safely. That was because

and Frank Coppola s Apocalypse Now , while taking into consideration Heart of Darkness is a novella
and Apocalypse Now is a film. These differences and similarities can be seen in themes, characters,
events and other small snippets of information including anything from quoted lines to strange actions
of the main characters. Both pieces follow the same story line but they are presented in different
contexts, allowing for many differences as well as the ability to see how Conrad is able to write a
piece of literature that can be transposed to many different settings regardless the time period and still
convey the same message of colonialism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is similar, for the exception that in one they are on the ship in which the shelling occurs, versus
simply being a bystander. It shows how `fire happy these men were ready to fight and kill without a
motive.
Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now both embody the theme of madness and insanity. In Heart of
Darkness madness and insanity come as a result of imperialism, Africa is responsible for mental
disintegration as well as for physical illness. Madness, in Heart of Darkness, is the result of being
removed from ones normal environment and how each person adapts and then re adapts to society.
The same theme of madness and insanity can be seen in Coppola s Apocalypse Now. Many of the
soldier s are just kids, barely 18 or 19, and have little mental stability, since being thrown into a
context that is so foreign to them, where their life is on the line every minute. Men like Chef and
Lance are ready to snap at any moment because of the shock and realization of where they are, what
they are doing, and the fear of not knowing where they are headed. Coppola confronts the insanity of
war through Kurtz and the other young men, he is able to depict what it was like for these men, and
why so many men after serving in Vietnam suffered Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
One interesting event that is different is the endings of Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now. In
Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is dying of a slow death and indeed

Hepatitis A Essay
Introduction:
Hepatitis is caused by a virus that is targeted at the liver, one of your most important organs!!
Specifically, it causes inflammation and injury to the liver. Hepatitis comes in many different forms,
five to be exact. There is Hepatitis A, B, C, D amp; E. Hepatitis is caused mainly by viruses, all of
which are set on shutting down your liver. I will be specifically concentrating on Hepatitis A in this
report. Hepatitis A is also known as infectious Hepatitis, an extremely contagious viral infection that
often effects young children and young adults, especially those in large groups. It has been known to
break out in schools, summer camps and music festivals etc.
Hepatitis A is also very common in developing nations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This keeps up for a few days and you begin to feel a loss of appetite as well as nausea. A low grade
fever between 100 °f 102 °f is present. A pain and discomfort in the abdomen above the liver is also
common, due to enlargement of the liver. After a few days of torture, a person s urine becomes darker
than usual and then jaundice, (a yellowish discoloration of the skin) appears. Jaundice and the dark
urine indicate that liver is not functioning properly in removing a reddish yellow pigment called
bilirubin from the blood.
Treatment / Prevention:
There is no specific treatment for viral Hepatitis. Bed rest and preferably hospitalization is a necessary
step in the early treatment. Even though Hepatitis A is a highly contagious virus, isolation of the
patient to a single room is not necessary. However, proper prevention methods such as washing your
hand after handling the patient, careful handling of the body fluids and feces and wearing gloves when
drawing blood is important.
Prolonged bed rest is not essential for full recovery but patients feel better with restricted physical
activity. A high calorie diet is a good idea and because many patients have nausea late in the day, the
major caloric intake is best given in the morning. Intravenous feeding is necessary if the patient has
continuos vomiting. Isolation of the patient to a single room and bath room is unnecessary, however
the patient and other people in contact should be

The Role Of Jealousy In Othello
The Role of Jealousy in Othello.
The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus on
the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy.
The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story.
Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are:
a) The destructive power of sexual jealousy.
b) The jealousy of power and position.
Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic
occasions for characters in the play. Othello was made to be sexually jealous by Iago about the way
Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. For instance, when Iago told Othello Well, there you

In the first seen, Iago shows of his jealously was right at the beginning of the play, he said Mere
prattle without practice is all his soldier ship. But he sir, had th election (Shakespeare.1.1.26 27). This
helps to show Iago s jealousy towards Cassio as he wanted to be the Lutenant to Othello, for all his
service he has done for Othello.
Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It
cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth
(Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). This quote furthers shows how Iago was jealous for Othello and
Desdemona s love. Desdemona is the daughter of a well respected Senate, and she is much known for
her beauty, and it seems like all the men in Venice in one way wanted to her as their wife, and Othello,
who is a moor cannot just marry Desdemona.
Furthermore, Iago was jealous of Othello from the fact that he hated him, even if he was given the
position or not. For instance where Iago said Though I do hate him as I do hell pains, yet, for necessity
of present life, I must show out a flag and sign of love which is indeed but sign (Shakespeare (1.1.171
174). This quote helps to show how Iago will always hate Othello no matter what happens, he will
always seek pleasure going against

Being A Mental State Of Awareness
Conscious is thought to be a mental state in which we are able to process information and act on it.
However this term is used to describe a state of awareness while awake whereas there seems to be
varying levels of consciousness that describe most mental states. If information can be perceived
(knowing or unknowingly) then it is likely that you are conscious, e.g. even when in light sleep we can
dream and may even wake up on hearing a loud noise, therefore the brain still processes information,
however in deep sleep this is not the case. When looking at consciousness, there is what Levine
described as the explanatory gap (Levine, 1983). This states that in the present moment we are not
able to provide an explanation for the phenomena that is consciousness however as time goes on and
our knowledge of neuroscience increases this gap will close gradually until it is non existent (Block
Young, 1996). However despite this statement being made by Levine around 30 years ago, the
explanatory gap still remains although it is clearly beginning to close, we still have some way to go
before we can begin to understand what consciousness is. Consciousness is inherently a subjective
matter as there are many different meanings for the word which are seemingly thrown around without
much thought, there is no way to prove that one normal experience of consciousness is the same as
another (qualia) and we are unable to scientifically explain conscious experiences. Therefore before
we can

Ufos And Aliens Research Paper
For decades there has always been the world wide question, Do UFO s and Aliens exists? That
question has yet to be answered. Yukon, Canada has had multiple sighting around the same regional
area. The reported size of the semi spherical UFO is over a mile in diameter, or bigger than a football
stadium and light patterns that none of our aircrafts are seen to have. Only a handful of people have
laid their eyes on the magnificent mystery in the sky. This case involves over 30 eyewitnesses and
plenty of documentation of what appears to be a massive UFO that appeared over the Klondike
Highway in the Yukon Territory of Canada on December 11th, 1996. The Mothership has been seen in

meters away from him. Trudeau said, There were other beams emanating from the craft as well; a
greenish phosphorescent color beam shone horizontally out the front (right); two beams at the back
(left) rotated slowly to a horizontal position. All the beams could be seen clearly as there were ice
crystals in the air. PEL1 turned away from the UFO momentarily and ran across a small clearing .

other witnesses of the Pelly Crossing Incident were from four women taking a short break from

The Invention Of The Automated System
The constant invention of new technology has been important and beneficial in hospital settings, and
for healthcare providers. The invention of the automated medication system has been widely received
by health care providers. In the past, medication had been distributed through the use of extensive
human labor; which was prone to dangerous medical errors like medications mix up, delivering and
administering medication to the wrong patients. The invention of automated systems has helped in
combating these huge blunders. Automated systems have reduced labor intensive work, and reduced

places where health care is provided. This research attempts to expatiate on the history of automated
medication systems, core processes for the usage of the system, the pros and cons of the system, and
what the future holds automated medication systems and health care providers. It is important to note
that health care providers perpetually feel the need to improve patient s safety in hospitals and
pharmacies. This induced the exploration of a variety of strategies and technologies in order to attain
this goal. Before the application of unit based automated dispensing machines, hospitals have greatly
relied on the manual distribution systems, which includes the traditional floor stock and medication
carts that held a constant supply of a patient specific medications in individual patients holders.
According to Fung and Leung (2012), a floor stock system is flexible, but the pharmacy has little
control over inventory as it is considered as an inefficient drug distribution system because it is

Art And Art
What is Art? Art is the aesthetic experiences we encounter when we are exposed to new responses of
sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell (McGraw 2013). According to McGraw no society has lived
without some form of art in human history. (2013) We have the ability to create images that have
evolved and find a new relationship with each one. Art is composed of meaningfulness in every
aspect, from the artist perspective. The symbolism of art changes from era to era. Art is created by
individuals who have acquired traits of; sensitivity, flexibility, originality, playfulness, productivity,
fluency, analytical and organizational skills (McGraw 2013). We will later elaborate on these traits
individually through pieces of art. The shift of cultures has impacted the trait of art, through eras of
history, which impact artist mindset and modern culture.
The meaning of Art to me personally is something that you should have a connection with and or
understanding of what the artist is talking about by looking at the painting or drawing. The quality,
production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or
of more than ordinary . (dictionary) Referring to our textbook Living with Art refers to as Art being
simplified, fragmented and distorted. With that being said Art is needed to be natural and stylized in it
s own unique way.

Each of the men in the cause contributed in their own way, and they reach a common goal for justice.
Many innocents on both sides had died because they had the misfortune to get caught up in this war,
The author of Beneath a Sky of Porphyry hoped that this would draw attention to the war in Algeria in
hopes that something like this would never happen again. In the cinematic analysis that preceded over
the Algerian struggle for their independence from France exposed the ambiguous nature of Western
imperialism in an effort to combat the resistance and terrorism that followed. Judging by how the
filmmakers oriented the visuals throughout the movie, it was clear that they depicted the French as

Why Men Are More Talented At Design Than Women
There is no way to accurately measure the success rate of designers based on sex or sexual orientation,
or, somewhat speciously, to examine if men are more talented at design than women. As Valerie
Steele, the chief curator of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, said: There is no gay
gene for creativity.
But circumstantial evidence is making some designers wonder about the disparities. Of the young
American designers most embraced by retailers and celebrated in the fashion press in recent years, the
roll call is almost exclusively male: Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Mr. Som as well
as Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Their female contemporaries have
had a harder time breaking through, among them Behnaz Sarafpour, Alice Roi and Ms. Subkoff.
Gay men stick together like a band of brothers, Ms. Subkoff said in an interview. It s more common
for a man to bring up a younger assistant who is male and be proud of that, she added, whereas a
woman would be threatened to promote another woman.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America, a trade group that vets those who apply for
membership, is made up of 121 women and 156 men. Since 1986 its annual Perry Ellis awards for
young talent have been given to 8 women and 29 men (20 of them openly gay).

Social Responsibility And Business Ethics Essay
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to assess an article written by William Cohen (2009) which outlines Peter
Drucker s description of the role of social responsibility in business organizations and society. This
paper will compare similarities and differences between Cohen s perspective on social responsibility
to the social responsibility and business ethics theories of Drucker and Milton Friedman. Furthermore,
this paper will provide a frame of reference on corporate social responsibility and business ethics
presented in other research.
Social Responsibility Defined
Cohen, 2009 wrote in his article that Drucker defined social responsibility as the full responsibility of
every organization to assume its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whoever and
whatever it touches. In essence, business organizations should care about the internal and external
societal ecosystems where it exists. Other researchers such as (Halme, Roome, Dobers, (2009))
consider Corporate Responsibility as activities implemented by a company that contributes to a better
society including its environmental conditions. However, for the purpose of this paper, social
responsibility, as defined by Drucker is adopted.
Friedman (1970) presented another perspective of social responsibility in business. In consonance,
Friedman (1970) writes that the first step in understanding the social responsibility doctrine is to find
out what social responsibility implies for each entity

Enzymes and pH Concentration
Enzymes and pH Concentration
Abstract
Enzymes are high molecular weight molecules and are proteins in nature. Enzymes work as catalysts
in biochemical reactions in living organisms. Enzyme Catecholase is found on in plants, animals as
well as fungi and is responsible for the darkening of different fruits. In most cases enzymatic activities
are influenced by a number of factors, among them is temperature, PH, enzyme concentration as well
as substrate concentration (Silverthorn, 2004). In this experiment enzyme catecholase was used to
investigate the effects of PH and enzyme concentration on it rate of reaction. A pH buffer was used to
control the PH, potato juice was used as the substrate and water was used as a solvent.
The experiments involved PH buffers of different pH were added to potato juice, water, and the
enzyme catecholase. The mixture was then subjected to spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm
taking the absorbance readings. In the second experiment, a phosphate buffer of PH 7.0 was used in
different measures together with different measurement of potato juice and the enzyme catecholase
then subjected to the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm. The data collected inform of table
and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as line graph and later interpreted, showing that PH and
enzyme concentration do affect the rate of enzyme reaction

From the 13.000 ports installed in the digital switches, only 6.200 have been sold until end of 2005.
Six years after the implementation of the service in the network, and being in the company s product
portfolio, the number of customers using ISDN service is less than 1.2% from the total number of
customers. Although the company introduced the service almost at the same time as other telecom
operators in Europe, the number of users in others countries is significantly higher (28% in Slovenia,
10% in Hungary, 32% in Germany). The disproportion is evident. The sales of ISDN in the Company
are a problem.
Ron (2000) stated: Since ISDN is digital service and capable of high rates of speed over the same pair
of copper wires that service the POTS infrastructure, combining voice and data over a common
medium, results in improved service capacity and higher quality (p.70).
Although ISDN is a digital service and should result in higher quality, the perception of MakTel
customers of ISDN as a poor service quality is one of the biggest problems for increasing the sales.
According to the faults statistics for 2005, on existing 6200 ISDN subscribers were reported more than
2400 faults. In the previous years, the ratio between the number of subscribers and the faults reported

Kafka Utilize Shintoism
Before this discussion all I knew about Shintoism is that it is an ethnic religion of Japan and rather
than a unified religion, it is a collection of beliefs and mythology, which places emphasis on daily
ritual practices. After this discussion I learnt that the Shinto religion is the belief that gods and humans
are not separated by metaphysical boundaries. In Shinto, spirits and humans exist side by side, which
suggests that the spiritual world and the physical world are the same.
This helped me understand how Kafka utilises Shintoism, to link it to key concepts, themes and how
he applies it to symbols in the novel. For instance, there is a quote where Nakata asks are you a
foreigner? , this is because Johnny Walker is a western icon, but also spiritually he is more like a
Shinto spirit. As he stalks cats with flutes, these flutes (pan), the flute is one of the ritual instruments
used to pacify souls. He has a Japanese ideology, however he has a western appearance.
After this discussion, it makes me realise the purpose and reason of why Nakata and Hoshino together
carry out a mission Nakata is psychically compelled to complete. They must find the entrance stone
that separates this world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, before this discussion I did not understand in chapter 23, why he wakes up covered in
blood in a shrine. What makes this place a significant place for a dramatic death, however now I know
that it was Murakami making the connection to Shintoism, as rituals in this religion include Omairi (
shrine visit ). You can see a clear separation between the spiritual and psychical world. It is always
triggered by negative emotions. In this discussion I also learnt about the significance of the torii in
Shinto, that it is seen as the gateway, to symbolize a separation between the high vibrational energy
(sanctity) of the kami world and the lower vibration of the mundane

Tortilla Flat By John Steinbeck
Tortilla Flat, by John Steinbeck is a humorous novel about a group of friends called the paisanos.
Tortilla Flat is just one of Steinbeck s many successful novels. Indeed, Steinbeck is said to be one of
the most influential of the twentieth century American writers (Williams). Tortilla Flat was a best
seller, and was awarded the Gold Medal of the Commonwealth Club of California in 1935 (Williams).
Steinbeck s successful writing career did not end with Tortilla Flat as Steinbeck went on to win the
Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962, making him one of only six American writers to win the Nobel
Prize in Literature
(Williams). Tortilla Flat is focused primarily upon a group of friends known as the paisanos. The
paisanos is made up of Danny, Pilon, Pablo, Jesus Maria, and Big Joe Portagee and spend most of
their time thieving, drinking, and avoiding work. However, in the beginning of the novel, the paisanos
easy going lifestyle is interrupted when Danny learns of his grandfather s death. Now, care free, easy
going Danny is the owner of the two houses left to him by his deceased grandfather. Becoming the
owner of two houses has quite an effect on Danny. In his novel, Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck, without
directly saying so, portrays Danny as showing signs of depression.
Though the paisanos do not have much, they each value the unique bond of friendship that they share
with one another. The men all signed up for the military when World War One broke out, and all

  • 2. Pre Surgery Procedure When deciding if a patient is a good candidate for surgery, a number of considerations need to be taken. Can the patient safely undergo the surgery? Will the benefits of this surgery outweigh the negatives? For instance, if a patient is elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical cost to undergo the surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what precautions must be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). In all cases, it is crucial to have a detailed medical history of the patient. Several pre surgery precautions need to be followed in order to minimize risk during surgery. The patient undergoing surgery should have an empty stomach. There is a high risk of regurgitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A needle is used to penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The needles most often used in this type of surgery are curved. The curvature of the instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up the area without intrusion of the underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the needle s journey through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and insures proper angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the suture are used to create a proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug against the tissue, not too tight and not too loose, so that proper healing is accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut with a suture scissor. Sutures may either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted suture is the most universal technique used for wound closure. Both absorbable and non absorbable sutures are routinely used in oral surgery. Once the wound is fully closed, the patient s surgery is complete and the healing process can begin. It is important that proper pain control medication is provided post operatively so the patient is more comfortable during this time. The prescriber should be aware of the addictive properties in opioids and prescribe the correct type of analgesic accordingly to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Four Major Sects Of Judaism Essay Judaism of the second temple period, from the fifth century BC to the first century AD, is key to understanding Jesus life and work (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 25). Maintaining their identity, socially and religiously, was intrinsic to their existence after their release from captivity. Core beliefs and practices remained, but over time, varying understandings of how to live out their faith life became evident among various groups. This essay will define the purpose of the synagogue in 1st century of Judaism, describe the characteristics and beliefs of four major sects of Judaism, and describe their expectations regarding the coming of the Messiah. The purpose of the synagogue was a meeting place for worship that focused primarily on reading of the Torah and prayer. During the time of the Babylonian exile, temple worship was not possible. ... While there were a number of groups who fell into this category, true zealots were those attributed to the Jewish War from 66 AD forward who were committed to violent revolution against the Romans (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 43). A number of pieces of literature exist that coincide with the awaited messiah as noted above. The Pharisees anticipated a messiah of earthly king stature, and militarily he may purge Jerusalem from nations that trample her down [Pss Sol. 17:23f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38). However, the Essenes beliefs resonate closely with the following passage: They shall depart from none of the counsels of the law to walk in the stubbornness of their hearts (...) until there shall come the Prophet and the Messiahs of Aaron and Israel [1QS 9:10f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38). Defined by their past, Jews in the 1st century fought to maintain their core identity. However, there were differences in beliefs causing the formation of a number of dominant sects within ... • 4. The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost. Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was. We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be opposed because our society is highly conservative. In a country where marriage between same sex is highly opposed, there is a small chance for the allowance of assisted suicide. Religious people may believe that life is God s gift and we as human beings do not have any right to take it away. However, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reality Changes From People Across The World Reality changes from person to person. Whether something is real or not is determined through the individual. One may think it s true whereas the other may believe differently. It is common to form misconceptions on a subject that is relatively new and upcoming. Sports are generally one of the most common ways we conquer boredom. This entertainment involves, according to the Oxford Dictionary, physical exertion as well as brain stimulation. With technology emerging, the online gaming industry has become a vast media culture. Connecting millions across the world, the online gaming world provides users with an interactive database which engages both their body and their intellect. Gamers learn to utilize their problem solving skills and are forced to come up with strategies that require quick decisions. E sports encourage participants to train their brains so that they are able to deliver a rapid response in certain situations. Gamers face a great deal of pressure as they conform to the world of entertainment and competition. Therefore, E sports should be considered real as online gamers and sports athletics both provide an audience with a source of entertainment as well as being competitive. The entertainment industry provides its audience a way to release tension by showcasing various talents that stimulate the brain. Audiences enjoy watching the players practice and so for online games, such as the popular games known as League of Legends, gamers stream themselves training. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Examples Of Gerald In The Inspector Calls In this play we can notoriously see that Gerald is a selfish person, who wants to marry Sheila not only because of business, also because she is pretty. He does not care about other people; a clear example is that he cheated on Sheila with Eva Smith. Gerald is not committed to his relationship, this is shown when he unsuccessfully tries to hide that he had known Eva. In the end, his efforts make the revelation ruder. He does not care about Sheila s feelings and he has not gained a new sense of social responsibility, understanding that he, too, was part of the events that led Eva s suicide. This is why Sheila is unsure whether to take back the engagement ring or not. Croft s family has a very high status in society, and since being in business with the Birlings would not necessarily be good for their company, Gerald is engaged to Sheila because he wants to. His parents are not happy as they think she is not good enough for Gerald and because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can justify this not only because of what he says, but also because of his actions. He is the only character in the play, not counting the Inspector, that tried to help Eva Smith or Daisy Renton and we can see this when he says I did not ask for anything in return . Even Though Gerald gave her shelter, food and took her out from the Palace, after some months he abandoned her and their love relation broke Daisy knew it was coming to an end. So I broke it off definitely before I went . But on the other hand he does not care about Sheila, who is his fiancee and who he cheated on her with Eva Smith and all he had for her was at least it s honest . This shows us that Gerald did not care about how Sheila would feel about him cheating on her and how it would affect her. He did not even feel guilty or told her about his affair until the inspector s arrival. However, when Inspector Goole arrived, he wanted to justify himself and his acted by saying that despite his affair he was being honest with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, they are native to Eurasia and were brought to the US to stabilize sand banks and to provide shade; salt cedar is like many invasive plants, extremely harmful to the native species, such as: Fremont Cottonwoods, Salt Grass Meadows, and Gooding s Black Willows. In addition, tamarix outcompetes and replaces the natives in Riparian ecosystems. • 10. Organizational Behavior ( Ob ) Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact within groups and can be used to achieve a covenant relationship within organizations similar to the relationship that God has with His people. Personalities have a significant role in OB and personality tests create value by allowing organizations to determine ahead of time where potential conflict may arise between employees. The Jung Typology Test classifies people into one of the sixteen personality types determined by Isabel Briggs Myers and one of the four temperaments defined by David Keirsey. This discussion examines the effect of my ISTJ personality type and SJ temperament on myself and those around me on a personal and professional level. The analysis covers the strengths, weaknesses, and sources of conflict associated with each individual aspect of the ISTJ personality introverted, sensing, thinking, and judging as well as assessing the personality type as a whole. Lastly, the discussion concludes with lessons I have learned regarding the use of OB in workplace improvement efforts, as well as specific areas where I can use OB to enhance my performance as an employee, co worker, and manager. Keywords: organizational behavior, Myers Briggs, ISTJ, personality, workplace Project 1 Organizational behavior (OB) can help organizations follow the covenant model God provided in the Bible by creating healthy attitudes and processes and reducing conflict in the workplace (Fischer, 2012). • 11. Titanium Cerium Ferrite ( Tcf ) Was Prepared By A Simple... Abstract Titanium cerium ferrite (TCF) was prepared by a simple solvothermal method. The obtained TCF was applied as magnetic adsorbent for the extraction of uranium ions from aqueous solutions. The synthesized magnetic nanoadsorbent was characterized using FT IR, XRD, Raman, BET surface area, VSM and TEM. Various parameters such as solution pH, initial concentration, sorbent dosage and rate of adsorption were investigated using batch adsorption experiments. The optimum pH was found to be 6.0 and the equilibrium was achieved in approximately 120 min. Kinetic studies indicated that pseudo second order kinetic model best describes the adsorption behavior. The adsorption isotherms were well fitted by Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the maximum adsorption capacity was evaluated to be 555.555 mg/g at 55 ⁰C. The thermodynamic parameters calculated from the adsorption data suggested that the adsorption of U (VI) onto TCF was a spontaneous and endothermic nature of process. The highest values of uranium desorption was achieved using 0.1 M HNO3 as the desorbing agent. The results indicate that TCF has potential as an adsorbent for sorption U (VI), using a simple, fast separation method for removal of uranium ions from aqueous solution. 1. Beach Erosion in Southern California Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the coast and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience. Especially in southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and environmental impacts on our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to global warming melting our polar ice caps, this erosion is having profound effects on coastal societies and has damaging effects on infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have come up with various methods such as hard and soft engineering in order to both prevent and mitigate the effects of beach erosion. Introduction There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink. In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can happen for a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive waves than constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive waves erode and constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches in southern California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough sediment from the San ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return. Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family with not as much money as Juliet s. There was also a social class where the Duke and Duchess held the most power and the peasants had the least power. Juliet s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. It is Sunday afternoon, and I have been driving for seven hours . A customer comes in and the noise of the bell on the door makes me turn to the window; a light drizzle falls here and there on the turf in the parking lot and on the blacktop of the distant highway, from which the hum and rumble of cars is still audible, still calling to me in the dimness . A strange familiarity invades my senses at that moment, like the familiarity that comes to one in dreams when confronted with some impossible landscape. Pale light filters down through the blotched rain clouds, eases through slits in the half drawn shutters and falls listlessly on the table, a series of concentric circles, wan and shimmering, like moonbeams on the surface of a rippling pond , textured by the shadow of sycamores that lean and sway outside the window in the mist. I watch the changing patterns of light and shadow, the shapes making and unmaking, and my imagination is tempted to new and unspeakable objects. I have seen this all before. Where? However this term is used to describe a state of awareness while awake whereas there seems to be varying levels of consciousness that describe most mental states. If information can be perceived (knowing or unknowingly) then it is likely that you are conscious, e.g. even when in light sleep we can dream and may even wake up on hearing a loud noise, therefore the brain still processes information, however in deep sleep this is not the case. When looking at consciousness, there is what Levine described as the explanatory gap (Levine, 1983). This states that in the present moment we are not able to provide an explanation for the phenomena that is consciousness however as time goes on and our knowledge of neuroscience increases this gap will close gradually until it is non existent (Block Young, 1996). However despite this statement being made by Levine around 30 years ago, the explanatory gap still remains although it is clearly beginning to close, we still have some way to go before we can begin to understand what consciousness is. Consciousness is inherently a subjective matter as there are many different meanings for the word which are seemingly thrown around without much thought, there is no way to prove that one normal experience of consciousness is the same as another (qualia) and we are unable to scientifically explain conscious experiences. Why Men Are More Talented At Design Than Women There is no way to accurately measure the success rate of designers based on sex or sexual orientation, or, somewhat speciously, to examine if men are more talented at design than women. As Valerie Steele, the chief curator of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, said: There is no gay gene for creativity. But circumstantial evidence is making some designers wonder about the disparities. Of the young American designers most embraced by retailers and celebrated in the fashion press in recent years, the roll call is almost exclusively male: Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Mr. Som as well as Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Their female contemporaries have had a harder time breaking through, among them Behnaz Sarafpour, Alice Roi and Ms. Subkoff. Gay men stick together like a band of brothers, Ms. Subkoff said in an interview. It s more common for a man to bring up a younger assistant who is male and be proud of that, she added, whereas a woman would be threatened to promote another woman. The Council of Fashion Designers of America, a trade group that vets those who apply for membership, is made up of 121 women and 156 men. Since 1986 its annual Perry Ellis awards for young talent have been given to 8 women and 29 men (20 of them openly gay). • 34. Social Responsibility And Business Ethics Essay Introduction The purpose of this paper is to assess an article written by William Cohen (2009) which outlines Peter Drucker s description of the role of social responsibility in business organizations and society. This paper will compare similarities and differences between Cohen s perspective on social responsibility to the social responsibility and business ethics theories of Drucker and Milton Friedman. Furthermore, this paper will provide a frame of reference on corporate social responsibility and business ethics presented in other research. Social Responsibility Defined Cohen, 2009 wrote in his article that Drucker defined social responsibility as the full responsibility of every organization to assume its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whoever and whatever it touches. In essence, business organizations should care about the internal and external societal ecosystems where it exists. Other researchers such as (Halme, Roome, Dobers, (2009)) consider Corporate Responsibility as activities implemented by a company that contributes to a better society including its environmental conditions. However, for the purpose of this paper, social responsibility, as defined by Drucker is adopted. Friedman (1970) presented another perspective of social responsibility in business. In consonance, Friedman (1970) writes that the first step in understanding the social responsibility doctrine is to find out what social responsibility implies for each entity ... • 35. Enzymes and pH Concentration Enzymes and pH Concentration Abstract Enzymes are high molecular weight molecules and are proteins in nature. Enzymes work as catalysts in biochemical reactions in living organisms. Enzyme Catecholase is found on in plants, animals as well as fungi and is responsible for the darkening of different fruits. In most cases enzymatic activities are influenced by a number of factors, among them is temperature, PH, enzyme concentration as well as substrate concentration (Silverthorn, 2004). In this experiment enzyme catecholase was used to investigate the effects of PH and enzyme concentration on it rate of reaction. A pH buffer was used to control the PH, potato juice was used as the substrate and water was used as a solvent. The experiments involved PH buffers of different pH were added to potato juice, water, and the enzyme catecholase. The mixture was then subjected to spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm taking the absorbance readings. In the second experiment, a phosphate buffer of PH 7.0 was used in different measures together with different measurement of potato juice and the enzyme catecholase then subjected to the spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 420nm. The data collected inform of table and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as line graph and later interpreted, showing that PH and enzyme concentration do affect the rate of enzyme reaction Introduction Living cells are involved in a series of chemical reactions rapidly due to the participation of ... Six years after the implementation of the service in the network, and being in the company s product portfolio, the number of customers using ISDN service is less than 1.2% from the total number of customers. Although the company introduced the service almost at the same time as other telecom operators in Europe, the number of users in others countries is significantly higher (28% in Slovenia, 10% in Hungary, 32% in Germany). The disproportion is evident. The sales of ISDN in the Company are a problem. Ron (2000) stated: Since ISDN is digital service and capable of high rates of speed over the same pair of copper wires that service the POTS infrastructure, combining voice and data over a common medium, results in improved service capacity and higher quality (p.70). Although ISDN is a digital service and should result in higher quality, the perception of MakTel customers of ISDN as a poor service quality is one of the biggest problems for increasing the sales. According to the faults statistics for 2005, on existing 6200 ISDN subscribers were reported more than 2400 faults. In the previous years, the ratio between the number of subscribers and the faults reported was

  • 39. Kafka Utilize Shintoism Before this discussion all I knew about Shintoism is that it is an ethnic religion of Japan and rather than a unified religion, it is a collection of beliefs and mythology, which places emphasis on daily ritual practices. After this discussion I learnt that the Shinto religion is the belief that gods and humans are not separated by metaphysical boundaries. In Shinto, spirits and humans exist side by side, which suggests that the spiritual world and the physical world are the same. This helped me understand how Kafka utilises Shintoism, to link it to key concepts, themes and how he applies it to symbols in the novel. For instance, there is a quote where Nakata asks are you a foreigner? , this is because Johnny Walker is a western icon, but also spiritually he is more like a Shinto spirit. As he stalks cats with flutes, these flutes (pan), the flute is one of the ritual instruments used to pacify souls. He has a Japanese ideology, however he has a western appearance. After this discussion, it makes me realise the purpose and reason of why Nakata and Hoshino together carry out a mission Nakata is psychically compelled to complete. They must find the entrance stone that separates this world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What makes this place a significant place for a dramatic death, however now I know that it was Murakami making the connection to Shintoism, as rituals in this religion include Omairi ( shrine visit ). You can see a clear separation between the spiritual and psychical world. It is always triggered by negative emotions. In this discussion I also learnt about the significance of the torii in Shinto, that it is seen as the gateway, to symbolize a separation between the high vibrational energy (sanctity) of the kami world and the lower vibration of the mundane ... • 40. Tortilla Flat By John Steinbeck Tortilla Flat, by John Steinbeck is a humorous novel about a group of friends called the paisanos. Tortilla Flat is just one of Steinbeck s many successful novels. Indeed, Steinbeck is said to be one of the most influential of the twentieth century American writers (Williams). Tortilla Flat was a best seller, and was awarded the Gold Medal of the Commonwealth Club of California in 1935 (Williams). Steinbeck s successful writing career did not end with Tortilla Flat as Steinbeck went on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962, making him one of only six American writers to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (Williams). Tortilla Flat is focused primarily upon a group of friends known as the paisanos. The paisanos is made up of Danny, Pilon, Pablo, Jesus Maria, and Big Joe Portagee and spend most of their time thieving, drinking, and avoiding work. However, in the beginning of the novel, the paisanos easy going lifestyle is interrupted when Danny learns of his grandfather s death. Now, care free, easy going Danny is the owner of the two houses left to him by his deceased grandfather. Becoming the owner of two houses has quite an effect on Danny. In his novel, Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck, without directly saying so, portrays Danny as showing signs of depression. Though the paisanos do not have much, they each value the unique bond of friendship that they share with one another. The men all signed up for the military when World War One broke out, and all returned home to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
