Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety...
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder that is developed from
witnessing or exposure to traumatic events that is threatening or creates a horrific fear, horror and
sense of helplessness in a person. It is common among service men and women, especially those
returning from overseas, who have been actively engaged in combat operations overseas. Although
PTSD is not limited to solely service men and women, it can occur in children and civilians, who
encounter tragic circumstances, such as those related to sexual trauma, physical assault, serious
accidents and terrorist attacks, like the individuals who witnessed firsthand, the September 11th
terrorist attack on the world trade center. In any case,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
and have extreme difficulties integrating in a society that is not threating. This is one of the
biggest factors impeding in reintegrating in society, called turning it off which is simply trying to
transition from one extreme to the other after prolonged exposure. Many factors hinder the
transition, such as hyper vigilance; always scanning for threats and on the edge, anticipating
something negative is going to happen. There are many triggers that Veterans associate their
traumatic experiences with, and these include certain smells, sounds, sights, and so on. These
triggers act as a reminder of the horrific events that occurred in the past, and remind the person of
the event, and even re live the event as if it is taking place in real time. These are only a few
examples of what most Veterans experience and live with on a day to day basis, as the list and
conditions can go on and on. Because PTSD typically occurs soon after the traumatic event occurs,
early intervention needs to take place. A common means of early intervention for persons suffering
from PTSD is known as psychological debriefing (PD). PD attempts to lessen or prevent
psychological damage by utilizing specialized debriefing methods. This tries to target the triggers
causing PTSD to

Personal Reflection Of A Personal Experience At Multimension
The company I interned for this semester was MultiMension. It is a company founded and run by
my intern supervisor, Julie Hyunjoo Lee. MultiMension is an E learning company that produces
digital media tools for the various instructional needs of customers. These tools come in the form of
online courses, infographics, animations, and interactive tutorials that are tailors to target
audiences. The company has also been involved in mobile application design and development.
They recently released a new meal planner application, called Nuttri. This is the product I worked
exclusively with during my internship this semester.
Nuttri is a baby meal planner application for apple and android mobile devices. It is currently
designed for parents of infants who are between 4 to 24 months. The application provides
information on different foods and nutrients that parents can use to make decisions on what and
how parents plan for their baby s meals. The meals can be planned in the app calendar, with the
ability to record the child s opinion of the meal after. Information on seasonality and preparation of
ingredients help parents to prepare the right meals for a child during different periods of
development. Addition information and scientific references are available on the website for the
Nuttri application to allow parents to learn more on infant nutrition and development. My main role
in the development of the Nuttri application was a research intern. My majors are Human Biology

The Negative Impacts Of Rising Sea Levels
Over the past 100 years, global sea levels have risen at astounding rates and only now are
governments, business, and people beginning to understand just how negatively this will affect the
world, not only now, but in the future as well. For many ports the growing issue of how rising sea
levels, both locally and globally, is one that they do not have a plan in place to address it. The ports
face a negative impact from damage to both their own facilities and equipment, but also the
infrastructure in the areas surrounding the port. Financing any additions or upgrades to a port s
operations will be difficult for many reasons such as that the variability in the expected rise in sea
level for the over the next century makes it difficult for accurate planning to be done.
Rising sea levels has two main causes, increased glacier melt and the water itself expanding as it
gets warmer known as thermal expansion (U.S.). The increased heat in water that is causing
glaciers to melt and the water to expand is largely due to greenhouse gas emissions (U.S.). The
dependence on fossil fuels by many countries around the world means that there will be difficulties
in reducing continued damage to the atmosphere from greenhouse gasses ( Causes ). Another
reason that greenhouse gas emissions have had such negative effect stems from the destruction of
forests, particularly those in tropical locations ( Causes ).
Sea level is expected to continue to rise despite changes that have been or

Law of Writs
Law of Writs In common law, a writ is a formal written order issued by a body with
administrative or judicial jurisdiction. In modern usage, this body is generally a court. Writs
are extraordinary legal remedies offered to individuals who do not obtain adequate protection

others also. Writs under English law The origin of writs can be drawn from the English judicial
system. The law of writs has its origin from the orders passed by the King s Bench in England.
Writs were issued on a petition presented to the king in council and were considered as a royal

The Effects Of Radiation Exposure On Medical Radiation
Why is this a problem
About 15% of the ionizing radiation exposure to the people comes from man made sources and
almost all of these exposures are due to medical radiation, which is vastly from diagnostic and
therapeutic sources(9). Out of 3 mSv annual global per caput effective dose (2000), 2.4 mSv is
from natural background and 0.4 mSv from diagnostic medical exams(5,9). and since then many
new therapeutic and diagnostic methods have been implemented making the exposure dose due to
medical radiation to go up. The problem with this increase is that elevated risk of radiation related
cancers such as of the thyroid, salivary gland, central nervous system, skin, and breast as well as
leukemia.(1,6) because of these observed risks the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there are recommendations and guidelines they are modified by criteria where the patient
is at high risk for dental caries(9).
How to minimize dose
Dental X rays accounts for about 2.5 percent of the effective dose from all forms of medical
radiographs (75). As previously discussed, dental radiation exposure is low; but, it is the dentists
responsibility to follow the guidelines such as ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) and
ALADA (As Low as Diagnostically Acceptable) principles(3). Some of the ways that can that be
helpful in minimizing dosage are use of the fastest image receptor compatible with the diagnostic
task (F speed film or digital)(1), proper film exposure and processing techniques, collimation of the
beam to the size of the receptor, use of protective aprons and thyroid collars, (8) and limiting the
number of images obtained to the minimum necessary to obtain essential diagnostic information.
Frequency of exams
As previously mentioned Dental professionals need to carefully examine the patient health
history, oral clinical observation and caries risk assessment to determine if radiographs are
necessary and keep the exposure ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). When it comes to
determining caries, a (child/adolescent) patient with clinical caries and increased risk will need

Essay on The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Jr.
At the beginnings of the 1900s, some leading magazines in the U.S have already started to exhibit
choking reports about unjust monopolistic practices, rampant political corruption, and many other
offenses; which helped their sales to soar. In this context, in 1904, The Appeal to Reason, a
leading socialist weekly, offered Sinclair $500 to prepare an exposГ© on the meatpackingindustry
(Cherny). To accomplish his mission, Sinclair headed to Chicago, the center of the meatpacking
industry, and started an investigation as he declared I spent seven weeks in Packingtown studying
conditions there, and I verified every smallest detail, so that as a picture of social conditions the
book is as exact as a government report (Sinclair, The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And he writes of dishonest politicians and tricky real estate salesmen. At the core of the story,
Sinclair tells about the devastation and the falling apart of Jurgis s family as a result of the
ruthless, abusive, and oppressive nature of work and life in Packingtown. By the end, Jurgis
wanders alone, deprived of all dignity. He comes across a rally of political socialists, hears a
speech on socialism, and enthusiastically converts to that cause. In the last chapters of the novel,
Sinclair manifests arguments for socialism, in the form of speeches that Jurgis hears. The book
ends with an appeal of a socialist speaker to Organize! Organize! Organize! so that Chicago will be
ours! Chicago will be ours! CHICAGO WILL BE OURS! (Sinclair 372 73)
So, according to some critics, it becomes clear that The Jungle is a propaganda destined to
promote socialism over capitalism, and to reveal the hollowness of the American Dream, which
capitalists define it as being the ability for people to improve their lot and to attain their aspiration
for better lives through hard work. Throughout The Jungle, Sinclair portrays the American Dream
from a socialist vision, and illustrates it as being a mere fictitious fantasy by the capitalists in order
to keep the working class blind to the truth and under their everlasting hegemony.
In regards to the American capitalist system, in Sinclair s viewpoint,

Questioning the Sanity of Hamlet in Shakespeare s Hamlet,...
In William Shakespeare s tragedy, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, we, as readers, increasingly
question the sanity of the protagonist, Hamlet, as the play continues. His seemingly psychotic
banter with the other characters of the play begins to convince us that Hamlet is, indeed, insane.
Hamlet, however, states, How strange or odd soe er I bear myself, as I perchance hereafter shall
think meet to put an antic disposition on (1.5.171). He specifically tells Horatio and Marcellus that
he will be acting mad, as a front. Hamlethas an exceptional grasp on mental philosophy and the
uses and effects of logic, more so than the other characters of the play. Because of this, Hamlet
appears insane to others, but in fact remains true to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Horatio and Hamlet see each other for the first time in a long while, they immediately are
excited. Hamlet, with his sometimes sinister blunt remarks, goes on to tell of how close the
wedding and funeral are to each other. Thrift, thrift, Horatio. The funeral baked meats did coldly
furnish forth the marriage tables (1.2.179). However, on the opposite end of the spectrum of
Hamlet s commentary, his conversations with Polonius are rude and often pointed. In act 2 scene
2, Hamlet makes fun of Polonius for being old and for his long winded speeches, but does so with
such intelligence and awareness that Polonius fails to understand what Hamlet is saying at all,
thereby thinking Hamlet is simply mad. This differentiation between playful banter and slanderous
remarks show that Hamlet was incredibly mentally alert. More than just being aware of the logic
in a situation, Hamlet is mentally present enough to question even his own thought processes.
Hamlet is in the position of the professional philosopher who criticizes his thoughts while he is
thinking them (Davis 631). In Hamlet s to be or not to be soliloquy (3.1.58), he is questioning his
own thinking by debating with himself about whether or not people dream after death. It takes a
sane mind to be able to equally weigh the consequences of something as dark and intense as suicide.

Creatine Literature Review
Literature Review: Creatine Supplementation
Introduction
Creatine is a natural substance that occurs in the body, it is also a supplement that has been tested
by numerus athletes over the years to see whether it has a positive effect on performance. However,
there is anecdotal evidence that suggests creatine supplementation may be the cause of negative
side effects such as dehydration, the increase of muscle cramping and an increase in blood pressure.
One way the supplementation of creatine can improve performance is by aiding the resynthesise
ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate
) stores within the body in order to produce energy at a quicker rate
therefore the most common athletes to take creatine are high intensity power athletes who are
repeated actions multiple times. Such as those doing long distance events such as cycling,
swimming and running, it may also be used as a way of recovery for sprinters. A study carried out
by Kreider R.B et al. (1998) concluded that there were increases in the performance of isotonic
lifting and sprinting during agility after taking creatine supplements. Although creatine has been
believed to help recovery, research undertaken by Stroud et al. (1994), would suggest that there was
no difference in the recovery periods. This review of literature will examine as to whether creatine
should be recommended to athletes based on current research.

Jazz Music, Freedom and Women
Background of Jazz
Jazz is still considered as etymology obscure as the origin and the background of the music is still
unclear to the society. According to The Oxford Dictionary of Music, 2nd Edition by Kennedy
Michael (1994), page 445:
Jazz is a term which came into general use for a type of music which developed in the Southern
States of United States of America in the late 19th century and came into prominence at the turn of
the century in New Orleans, chiefly (but not exclusively) among black musicians
Jazz which was considered as America s classical music was developed during the late 18th

jazz was a combination of blues, American popular song, musical theatre, European classical

through the recording industry. Played by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1917, Livery Stable
Blues was the first jazz to be recorded.
During the beginning of dance boom in 1910, the early jazz was widely spread through the
country. As new couple dances such as trots and two steps being introduced to the young
generation, the natural swing of jazz had made it ideal for these dances as it has uneven rhythm.
This new music was then recognised as a symbol of rebellion and flock to speakeasies, cabarets

Anonimity on the Web
Internet is a network that can be used in many different ways and can be accessed from anywhere.
Internet is being used in schools, ministries, hospitals, etc. When people use the internet, many of
them choose to be anonymous. People choose to be anonymous to do everything they want without
the risk of exposing their identity. This paper will list how being anonymous can be a double
edged sword.
Anonymity on the web is the way of hiding your identity in order to do anything freely without
exposure to legal repercussions. Hackers are the most group of people that keep their identity
anonymous. For example, when hackers attempt to hit a target, the first thing they do is hiding their
identity with more than one way to keep them safe from being tracked by governments and
cybercrime organizations.
A group of hackers called themselves The Anonymous are one of the most powerful hacking group
that internet have ever witnessed. That group believes that people should have their rights of doing
anything without being infringed by governments. The Anonymous have attacked the most secret
and highly sensitive websites of governments. They have hit Israeli, American and European
government s websites and exposed secret information that can lead to war. That group is still free
because their identities are unknown.
Anonymity has also helped hackers in many other different ways. Hackers around the world

Similarities Between Frankenstein And Rappaccini s Daughter
Nature and Nurture in Frankenstein and Rappaccini s Daughter
One of the most popular disputes in the history of philosophy regards whether nurture of a human
being plays a more important role in the formation of its character than the genetic heritage that it
bears. As a natural result, the dispute echoes in many literary works, not always directly, but
sometimes taking the form of a pretext or a motif in a larger context. Such examples are
Frankenstein by Marry Shelley and Rappaccini s Daughter , by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Their authors
relate the evolution of at least two characters, the monster and Beatrice, throughout both writings,
with the way those characters were nurtured. Both authors use innocence as a common ... Show

Certain rumors spread into town characterize her as a highly educated young woman. We find
evidence in that sense from Doctor Baglioni, another character in the story: Rappaccini is said to
have instructed her deeply in his science, and that, young and beautiful as fame reports her, she
is already qualified to fill a professor s chair (Hawthorne 878). But the truth is that, as she
confesses later in the story, she knows nothing about the science of botany that her father is
involved in; actually, she is only familiar with the flower s hues and perfumes ( Hawthorne 883).
She practically knows as much as a child of small age would; her education also lacks any form
of interaction experience with the society. Hawthorne presents her father, Doctor Rappaccini, as
her only companion of life. Her reason for isolation is related to her father s overprotective
attitude towards his only child. Rappaccini raises her in the neighborhood of poisonous flowers,
making her immune to them, but also transforming her into a source of poison. Beatrice is aware
of the poison that she exudes; thus she becomes indirectly isolated from the rest of the world by
her father. The deadly attribute Beatrice possesses places a social safeguarding wall around her.
The similarity between the monster s isolation and Beatrice s isolation is thus obvious. The two
parents, Victor and Rappaccini, highly competent

Retirement Is An Important Life Transition
Retirement is recognised as being an important life transition (Szinovacz, 1980), associated with a
number of adjustments including social roles, income and daily routine adaption s (Pinquart
Schindler, 2007). Although there is no single definition of what retirement is within existing
literature (Denton Spencer, 2009), it can arguably be best understood as an subjective journey
involving a psychosocial transition rather than a single event of exiting work or an objective life
transition (Matour Prout, 2007, Kim Moen, 2002). Future retirees consider retirementto be a huge
decision where they envisage what their daily life would be after exiting the work force, as well as
the physical and emotional effort to make the transition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, due to the limited qualitative research, quantitative research has been supplemented to
provide an understanding of the retirement transition. Even though quantitative literature will be
reviewed, a critical stance is taken due to the different assumptions and philosophical underpinnings
which are highlighted throughout.
Firstly, retiree s can experience some losses during the retirement transition. It can be suggested
that work is more than just bringing home an income (Kleiber Linde, 2014). For example, many
individuals significantly identify with a work role which may have implications when adjusting to
retirement life. Osborne (2012) suggests during the retirement transition, individuals can
experience partial identity disruption. Identity refers to cognitive and effective meanings that an
individual attributes to one s self in a role (Reitzes Mutran, 2006, p. 336). One explanation of this
disruption is provided by role theory (George, 1993) which suggests individuals former roles
within employment may form an integral part of their identity (Price, 2003). Therefore, it is
suggested that psychological distress can occur due to the loss in retiree s previous work role
which may disrupt their identity (Kim Moen, 2002). However,

The Pros And Cons Of A Primary Election System
A primary election is where voters in each state votes for a presidential candidate by
political party. For instance, if you are a registered Democrat within your county, then you only
vote for one democrat candidate in the primary. According the Greenberg book, the primary
system is a related trend has involved more direct elections of government officials, replacing
the old indirect methods (Greenberg 2014, pg. 286). This system is still used today to create a
direct approach to determine which candidate from each party officially won in one state, in
which a state that pledge to a specific candidate from each political party. For example, one

But in today s system, there is such thing a party caucuses , or

and
continuously debating, thus creating delays for a solution, I basically have no opinion on that.
However, June primaries are official elimination round, in which one candidate from each party
will run for the November election, so I think that the primary system breaks down to several
candidates into one for each party. Ultimately, the primary system is to create a two party
election, whether it is countywide, statewide, or nationwide, created a major success in the

Summary Of Every Trip Is A Quest
1 3. The main idea of Chapter 1 Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) (pp.1 6) can be
concluded in the following sentence: every story is a quest that consists of a person that has a
reason to go to a certain place with challenges on one s way which then leads the particular
person (usually the main hero of a story) to the actual, or real, reason associated with self
knowledge, because the quest is always educational. 4. The next key words were identified in
the chapter and serve as an informal outline of the chapter. At the beginning of the chapter,
Foster gives a brief example of a quest: a knight (Kip), a dragon road (German shepherds), Holy

There are many similarities between Gottschall and Foster s ideas. At first, Foster talks about
The Crying of Lot 49 which he refers to as to one of the best examples of all quest tales; in The
Crying of Lot 49 the heroine meets scary and dangerous people, and involves herself into postal
conspiracies. This is why Foster calls it one of the greatest quest books it is entertaining,
mystifying and has a defined quest. Moreover, that is what Gottschall talks about in the first
chapter that humans are by nature story telling beings, and this is why we want to read, and
write stories in the most entertaining way (20). The second example can be compared to ideas
in Gottscchall s book in chapter 3. According to Gottscchall, if there is no knotty problem, there
is no story (49). That is exactly what Foster is claiming: every story has a quest which includes a
challenge and a task, a trip and a goal; whereas, Gottscchall refers to it as to a

Web or Mobile Application Paper
Web or Mobile Application Paper JP Morgan Chase Mobile Bank application is one of the most
important applications I have in my iPhone. Chase has created a new way of banking with their
application. It is user friendly, it offers amazing capabilities, it is a time and money saver, and it
has room for improvement. Chase has brought banking into our hands. The purpose of the
application is to make banking for their customers stress free. With this application customers can
deposit checks from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows Phone. All
they do is input the amount of the check, take a front and back picture of the check and click

Being able to have access to my account on the palm of my hand is amazing. Not having to set a
foot on the bank has saved me time, gas and money. Time is very important to me and the way I
spend it is written down in my planner. I do not have the time or the money to drive and wait in
line. In the time it would take me to drive to the branch and back home, I could watch a movie
with my family or do some homework. This application has really made my life a little easier In
a likely future that I want to see added to this application would have to be like a check balance
book. This feature would help me see where my money goes. Just by taping an icon I can see
how much did I spend on Tuesday, how much money do I have left in my account, when do I get
paid, am I getting closed to overdraft. I know this is my responsibility, but it would be nice to
have my own personal accountant. Another possible addition could be being able to send and
receive e mails to and from Chase. I think these two features can help Chase improve and be
ahead of other banks. JPMorgan Chase has yet again won a ranking of mobile banking apps. In

Essay about Changing the Culture at British Airways
Changing the Culture at British Airways
Changing the Culture at British Airways The British Airways case study was a very interesting
case to read. It proves that not all people can be leaders, especially the chairman, board and chief
executives of British European Airways (BEA) and British Overseas Airways Corporation
(BOAC.) According to the case study of British Airways, the life at the old British Airways was
bloody awful (Changing the Culture of British Airways, 1990, p. 1). There definitely was a crisis
happening in that airline. They didn t seem to have a cohesive culture and it seemed as if they
continued down this path they would no longer have a business either. British Airways had this
divide between BEA and BOAC. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

And another mindset was,
If you re providing service at no cost to the taxpayer, then you re doing quite well (Changing the

If you had to compare this philosophy to Kotter s book, The Heart of Change, this company was
in huge trouble. There was definitely no leadership just really greedy chairman, in my opinion.
There was definitely no sense of urgency and such a lack of vision. The unfortunate this was it still
remained the same even when reorganization occurred in 1976, by Sir Frank McFadzean.
According to the study, divisional loyalties prevented the carrier from attaining a common focus

It was not until February 1981, where things began to look up for British Airways. It was when
Sir John King became chairman. Sir King made radial steps by reducing staff significantly,
freezing pay increases, closing several airline routes, online stations, and engineering bases. In
addition, halting cargo only services, and selling the fleet, and inflicting massive cuts upon offices,
administrative services and staff clubs (Changing the Culture of British Airways, 1990, p. 4).

First Post Summary
In 2012, a tragic mass shooting occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown,
Connecticut. For weeks, after the shooting, articles and new reports surrounded the tragic incident.
Articles specifically about the shooter, Adam Lanza, began surfacing when it was discovered that
he had been diagnosed with Asperger s Syndrome (now referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder)
as a child. These reports not only perpetuated stigmatic ideas surrounding mental illness, but also
bolstered a fear of people with mental health conditions throughout the public. One source that
contributed to these articles, was an online news platform called, First Post. First Post is a news

By adding to the already numerous amount of headlines surrounding Adam Lanza s diagnosis,
First Post continued the cycle of linking mental illness with violence and tragedy. Even today, a
person is far more likely to read news headlines linking a person with a mental health condition to
a violent act or tragic event, rather than linking a person with a mental health condition to a
positive situation. One good aspect about this article, though, was the inclusion of information on
Asperger s Syndrome by psychologist Laugeson and psychologist Eric Butter. The article listed
poor social skills, repetitives behaviors and interests, and poor communication as common
symptoms of Asperger s Syndrome and general autism. They also stated that Asperger s Syndrome
differs from autism, as delays in mental development and speech are not typical in those with this
disorder. First Post gives an account from Lanza s former classmates of the type of behavior he
exhibited during high school. Whether the article meant to or not, as a reader, including this along

Pinocchio; A Story For Children Pinocchio is concidered an adventurous tale for children. The
original story was first published in 1881 by Carlo Collodi in Italy . Collodi published his
masterpiece as a serial story in a children s weekly paper, Giornale dei bambini, between 1881 and
1883 (Liukkonen, 2008). Collodi wrote the story to be a lively adventure for children and a very

They personify conscience and discipline, which Pinocchio lacks at first. The Blue Fairy is
illuminated in the pictures representing her magical and mystical qualities. Jiminy Cricket is the
annoying voice of discipline always warning Pinocchio to heed his advice.
The tale takes place in an Italian village, initially in Geppetto s workshop which is full of
wooden gadgets and chiming clocks, yet he does not know what time it is. The gentle
woodcarver is wishing upon a star for the puppet to come to life and to be his son. The Blue
Fairy brings the toy to life out of compassion for Geppetto who is a good man, but is lonely and
wanting someone to love. The puppet named, Pinocchio, is not yet a human boy. He must earn the
right to be real by proving that he is brave, truthful, and unselfish (The Walt Disney Company,
1992). It is not an easy world for the puppet. He must learn what it means to be a good person,
including: going to school, working hard, making friends and putting others needs before his own.
In the end, after learning some important life lessons, Pinocchio is transformed from the wooden
puppet into the real boy Geppetto has always wanted (The Walt Disney Company, 1992).
One important event in the story is when Pinocchio is confronted by the Blue Fairy about
skipping school to be in a puppet show. She asks him why he never went to school and he lies to
her and says that he was kidnapped by a

Why Cheer Is A Sport
Have you ever been seriously injured as an athlete due to wrong form, hard work, and intensity?
If the answer is yes, you understand the stress of a sport. You would also understand the passion
of the sport, and the respect and equality you know you deserve. Sports come with all kinds of
stress, enjoyment, building muscles, being sore, and it can shape you as a person. As people, we
love sports. People often argue what makes a sporta sport. Whether or not cheer is a sport is often
argued and questioned. It is usually thought of as a support team for other sports. Along with
cheering on the sidelines at games, most cheerleadingsquads participate in heated competitions to

Like any other sport, there are several injuries such as, concussions, sprains, strains, dislocations,
breaks, and stitches. Not only does cheer compare to other sports in injuries, it actually shows in
statistics that there are more injuries in cheer. Cheer is the leading sport in catastrophic injuries.
65.1% of catastrophic injuries in high school athletics is accounted by cheer itself ( Barton). The
injury rate only grows in college cheerleading. Furthermore, the evidence from livescience.com
confirms cheer is by far exceedingly dangerous than any other sport to females. These injuries
can result from several different aspects in cheer. Girls are tossed, they tumble, lift people their
own size, and requires a lot of flexibility. Cheer is in need of medical support and supervision,
simply like any other sport. Girls are being thrown up to 20 feet in the air. They should get the
same amount of medical treatment as any other athlete. This isn t recognized at all, which is
extremely dangerous. If cheer was supported and considered an official sport, it would be much
easier to receive the funding possible for the right equipment such as mats, springboards and
more to ensure safety among the cheerleaders. In todays world, they do not have the funding, so
they must use anything that they can. A myriad of times, you see schools having a cheer sponsor
rather than a cheer coach because they feel that it s not too salient or considered a true sport.
Cheer teams require several safety precautions, including an experienced coach to make sure the
athletes are safely trained (Delp). There is approximately 5,300 cheerleaders a year in the United
States that have to make a visit to the emergency room during football season. The physical contact
is dangerous without a coach to insure the right way to tumble, stunts, and pyramids. Most sports
are seen as very physical, and

As a result, those companies pay substantially less for health care and enjoy productivity levels

a fresh approach to controlling health care costs, they have to be open to looking at the facts
surrounding the problem in a new light. In other words, they have to experience a paradigm shift. A
paradigm shift isn t easy to accomplish. As human beings, we are creatures of habit, and we re

The Truth Behind The Collective Memory
Just after the end the First World War, a phenomenal fear emerged in many societies that
prevalent chaos and struggle to restore peace in politics, economics and the society itself, was
irrevocable consequence of men brutalized by the war cruelty. The hope that war was to end war
had been proven to be far from truth. Hence, it is ironic that the need to somehow legitimize war
experience, created what George L. Mosse calls the Myth of the War Experience. This myth looked
upon the war as a meaningful and even sacred event and generated a massive consent that brutality
was of vital importance to create a national destiny. The controversial brutalization thesis has

Such indifference was even more strengthen by the radical Rights which soon predominated
political arena. The political agenda of the Rights were decisively based on the Myth of the War
Experience, which legitimized (not only theoretically but also practical adjustment of the law) their
aggressive and racist politics which certainly embraced the dehumanization of the enemy. Such
view, based upon no matter whether a real or just presupposed threat, meant that foe was
stereotyped. For instance, Mosse recalls that pre existed tensions and dislike of Jews associated
with Bolshevism turned to become a massive hatred, imposing that they were the only to be blamed
for Germany s after war hardships. This contempt to the enemy was exposed through various forms
of propaganda which became inseparable contrast of the ideal of manliness. Manliness, together
with Camaraderie, Mosse suggests, was another part of the Myth of the War Experience which
exerted influence over the brutalization process. Upsurge of the warrior ideal the man of steel ,
indirectly encouraged barbarism within the society. Consequently, Mosse Draws a conclusion that
attitudes toward death which eventually generated a myth, were the cause for these symptoms of
brutality in the society and ultimate brutalization of politics, transporting the Great World War to
the inevitable WWII. As we can see, Mosse builds his argument by providing various

Seductive Advertising In Advertising
Weekend sports on TV have long been the prime time for beer, car, and entertainment advertisers
to bring out their most sexualized ads for the sport loving man, which is the majority of the
American male population (Craig 193). Like many industries, technology has also tried its hand
with a sexual ad that pushes the envelope of what is acceptable for the original geekbuyers and the
target mainstream buyer. Samsung aired their sexualized ad, Seductive Motion, in 2012 and
surprisingly achieved chart topping results with the mainstream buyer base. Shocking results are
not new for the ever changing technology industry but these related to Samsung s new

what transpired in Samsung s controversial ad that warranted a positive response from the

District 12 is the coal district, we mine coal from the mines, and send it to other districts and the

The woods are my second home, I learned everything I need to survive in the woods from my dad.
As long as you can find yourself, you will always survive, he used to say. He would of gone

The Differences Of Racial Profiling And Iron Triangles
Imagine that you are going on a plane to some far exotic country. You get to the airport, but you
notice people staring at you and give you disgusted looks and even looks of fear, almost like you
re a monster. You are going through security you look to the left of you and you see a curtained
box, suddenly you get nervous. You know what happens in those boxes what if they pull you out
of the line and make you go in there. There is no one to help you, there is no one to help you stop
them if they do. You are completely helpless. This is what it felt like going to the airport when I
was 12. Racial profilingis meant to serve a good purpose but there are other more accurate ways of
getting the same result without discriminating against an entire group of people. Iron triangles
are meant to help the public effectively communicate and participate more in their government
but the drawback of this method is that sometimes the iron triangle will begin to only care about
its components and not the public it is meant to serve. In this essay, I will explain what
happened to Shoshanna and how she was racially profiled on a plane. Then I will compare how
racial profiling and iron triangles are alike. Lastly, I will explain how iron triangles have the
power to change or institute policies and how that power can be used to end racial profiling.

Mindfulness And Drama Therapy Association
Mindfulness and Drama Jashuko Kwong Roshi states that original mindfulness is the
actualization of humanity s inherent basic goodness, it is creatively joined with the new
therapies and offers a stream of helping and compassionate services for something very old
(Rappaport, 2013, p.1). The North American Drama Therapy Association defines drama as the
intentional use of drama, and or theater process to achieve therapeutic goals (North American
Drama Association, 2016). Drama therapy is both experiential and active, this particular
approach to therapy can provide the context for the participants to tell their stories, set goals,
solve problems, express feelings or achieve catharsis unlike talk therapy, drama therapy gets
there at a rapid pace. Role playing, which allows one to act out issues and problems is reportedly
more effective than talking (Landy, 2016). Mindfulness Meditation serves as a compliment to
drama therapy, and many of the skills sets and approaches that are developed through the form
of art can actually be utilized in everyday life. Skills such as concentration, acceptance, openness,
and loving kindness are each contributors to the body of drama therapy work as well as the
overall effectiveness of the therapy (Rappaport, 2013, p. 27). Mindfulness can be used as a tool

unified description of the universe from subatomic particles to the movement of the planets. Like
in physics, the cognitive sciences can describe the brain at different levels of abstraction. For
example, neurobiologists study brain function at the level of neurons while psychologists look
for the laws describing behavior and cognitive mechanisms. Also like in physics, many in these
fields believe that it is possible that one day we will be able to understand complicated behaviors
in terms of neuronal mechanisms. Others believe that this unification isn t possible even in theory
because there is some metaphysical quality to consciousness that transcends neural firing patterns.
Even if consciousness can t be described by a Grand Unified Theory of the cognitive sciences, it
is apparent that many of our cognitive mechanisms and behaviors can. While research on the level
of neurons and psychological mechanisms is fairly well developed, the area in between these is
rather murky. Some progress has been made however. Cognitive scientists have been able to

Whole Town Research Paper
How Does One Religion Affect a Whole Town? Bergen County is a very densely populated
county, but I want to look closer, I want to look as a specific town within Bergen County; I want
to take a look at the Borough of Fair Lawn. The Borough of Fair Lawn in 2011 estimated to have
a population of 32,669 people. According to New York Times, municipal officials estimate that
they make up 33 to 40 percent of the population, and of the 21 houses of worship 8 of them are
synagogues. But this is not why I am writing this paper, I wanted to look deeper into the community
due to the fact that the borough of Fair Lawn has made it a point to accommodate the Jewish
community but with the growth of the town has not changed its ways to accommodate all of the
other religion that now... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, unlike most of the surrounding towns, the Fair Lawn school system has a
number of Jewish holidays off. On many occasions due to weather, those who celebrate other
holidays, such as Good Friday, needed permission from all teachers to have the day off from
school. This permission was only granted when the students grades where above specific letter
grade, if they had less then 7 absent days, and if all teachers agreed to sign the permission sheet;
therefore your ability to celebrate the holiday would be in your teachers hands. The town has
created such a large bond with its Jewish community, that some other religions needs have the
ability to be easily be forgotten. The town has created a very large bond with the Jewish
community that in order to accommodate those of the Jewish religion who attend Sabbath on
Saturday s, the town strung wire between telephone poles to surround nearly all of the borough
in what in Hebrew is called an eruv, an enclosure in which Orthodox Jews are allowed to use baby
carriages and carry objects like keys, canes and eyeglasses on the Sabbath. New York

David Seed starts off with discussing voyages into space and sea journeys that can be seen in
works such as Gulliver s Travels and Ender s Game. Many people enjoy reading novels on space

alien planets. Space travel has been seen in works by H.G. Wells and the late and great Edgar Allen
Poe. Space voyages has become and will stay one of the staple genres in science fiction.
Aliens are some of the world s most controversial and talked about creatures in the universe.
People from different cultures, religions, and parts of the world may call them different things,
they all share the same concept about the strange people or creatures from different worlds
visiting earth. Sightings of aliens and other extraterrestrial beings have been reported for
thousands of years, and are still present in today s day and age. According to David Seed the
concept of aliens in science fiction can be understood by three overlapping senses. According to

Theme Of Gender Identity In Suffragette
The themes of gender identity defined in all three movies remain quite typical. The women in the
films identify with mostly feminine traits and vice versa. Maud in Suffragette believes herself to
be a mere helpless housewife who can only excel at laundry and house chores until she s told by
differently by other suffragettes and Ms. Pankhurst.
Opportunity and resources may just be a once in a lifetime or never to happen events in a
marginalized person s lifetime. To define in one word, they just might mean everything to them. In
all three of these films we see how unfair and underprivileged these people s lives are.

power, they have all the hegemony. Men can own property, vote, and hold custody of children.
Women are meant to be nothing more than their wives;

Americans and life within their community. These statistics include, at least 56 percent of black
families headed by a woman, 45 percent of black children living below the poverty line, and black
unemployment generally tripling the rate of white unemployment. (Quart 197). It was these figures
that inspired the largest movements about African Americans since the 1970s. A couple of these

Great Recession Summary
The U.S. experienced a significant economic decline in December 2007. This was the Great
Recession. A recession is a huge drop in consumer spending that has a chain reaction of job lose,
and lower business income. It can be caused by an economic shock. And economic shock is
when products are priced more than their value. 8.8 million Jobs were lost within 2 years,
February 2008 2010. Unemployment was nearly 10% in October of 2010. Since 2012, GDP and
employment has made a very slow growth rate. The poverty rate increased to 12.5 % in 2007.
Many economists and even the Bureau of Economic Analysis had predicted the recession. The
confusion aspect of it was generally when the GDP lowers, one would assume a recession has
/will begin. In May 2008, the GDP was reported to be positive for the last two quarters. The

American banks gave uncontrolled credit to other companies and they played a role in this
scandal. On December 30, 2008, the home price index had its lowest drop in history. The increase
in foreclosure rates in the U.S. made a crisis in August 2008 for the subprime, collateralized debt

Phaedo Argument
Phaedo Argument Assessment The theory that philosophy is the practice for death and the proof of
recollection argument in the Phaedo is a well organized argument. In the Phaedo, Socrates argues
that knowledge is simply being reminded of something you already knew previously. He also
argues that philosophers practice for death by ignoring passions and bodily wants in order to better
the soulto guarantee a pleasant afterlife. Philosophers spend their lives seeking knowledge, which is
simply remembering what they knew in their lives before mortal birth. There is one excellent
argument...namely that when men are interrogated in the right manner, they always give the right
answer of their own accord, and they could not do this if they did not... Show more content on

The same is with recollection. In fact, the example given was a type of recollection. It is simply
being brought back to memory something you had once known before. Socrates says to Cebes and
Simmias that the soul knew everything before it was born, but they did not agree with him.
When did our souls acquire the knowledge of them? Certainly not since we were born as men.
Indeed no. Before that then? Yes (Phaedo, 76c). To prove the Theory of Recollection, if Cebes
and Simmias agreed that our souls didn t acquire knowledge at birth, then the soul must have
acquired it before birth, and therefore everything you recognize or know in your mortal
existence, came from knowledge you had before you were born. The Theory of Recollection
works and is a valid argument because we know that Socrates believes our bodies are imperfect
and always changing, and our souls are perfect and never changed. Since knowledge is a perfect
and unchanging thing, it could not have come to be during our mortal, changing, and imperfect
life. Knowledge had to have come from the soul before it was trapped inside our imperfect body,
which proves that knowledge came before we were born, and proves that everything we know in
our mortal lives is simply

The Characteristics Of A Machiavellian Leader
What makes a good leader? It requires honesty, integrity, and the love of your peers and
subordinates; or rather the contrary. Machiavelli s views tend to differ from the popular
opinion. In his writings, he gives a detailed idea of what it takes to be a powerful and successful
leader. To have success as a Machiavellian leader one must be prepared to do whatever it takes to
gain and stay in power, use their knowledge to their advantage. The guidelines set aside By
Machiavelli can be seen in many real life examples and throughout literature. These guidelines are
followed and displayed by Prosperoduring his resurgence of power in Shakespeare s The Tempest.
Machiavelli conveys many qualities and sets rules that a prince must possess to keep his power.
First, he makes it clear that in order to obtain and uphold power one must be willing to do anything
to preserve power. This includes tough decisions and choices that go against your moral compass.
Chapter fifteen of The Prince states that
A man that desires to be morally good at all times, will certainly come to a bad end because he
must live amongst so many who do not share his moral scruples. Thus, if a prince wants to keep
his position, he must learn to do bad things when necessary. (Machiavelli, page 133)
His assessment is that a prince must be ready to do things that are considered morally wrong to
stay on top. In the real world, there is an abundance of people that are immoral. They will act
against you, so you must be

Crime And Punishment, By Fyodor Dostoevsky
Crime and Punishment, written by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky; is a philosophical crime
fiction novel. The story is very powerful in that it goes beyond the book and into the lives of the
audience; making the audience feel some type of relation between themselves and the story.
Dostoevsky was brilliant in creating a fictional world where the characters seem to be found within
the audience, transitioning from a fictional story to a self help book. He employes many life
lessons in the story, which give the audience a new perspective on themselves. In the book Crime
and Punishment, I personally, see myself as Raskolnikov. I feel that his view of the world is
similar to mine in that we both are somewhat disgusted by our fellow man, and that we have little
faith in humanity. We are also similar in that we both feel as if we are alienated from society in a
way. I think that the book has given me an extensive understanding about myself, in that I now
realize that it is unhealthy to be prideful because you end up exploding with pent up emotions.
Raskolnikov has shown me that although we are set in our ways, there is always room to change
for the better. If I could meet Dostoevsky I would ask him what his inspiration for Crime and
Punishment was. Sometimes I wonder if the novelwas written to give us insight to how Dostoevsky
felt about the world. Maybe he is using the characterRaskolnikov to portray a part of him who feels
alienated from the world, and is torn apart

Global Market Forces Of Islamic Banking Essay
Abstract
It is undeniable fact that Islamic banking system has been flourishing for last few decades and
now has become the focus of global market forces. Pioneers of Islamic banking proclaim that
foundational principles of Islamic banking is allied with Shari ah guidance and their accounting
practices, policies and financial reporting mechanism is based on Sharai ah values. Consequently,
Islamic institutions have the responsibility to follow Islamic rulings in all their practices. The core
purpose of this study is to confirm that either current practices are align with Islamic ethical values
or just based on shari ah terminologies. However, author find that current practice of Modarbah are
not just contrary to its theoretical foundation of Islamic Banking but also to basic shari ah guidance
to some extent. It has been also identified that whenever an issue arises in Islamic banks they try
to make it shari ah compliant instead of resolving particular issue they are busy in just
manipulating or islamizing conventional banking products by using Shari ah terminologies to
capture the attention of Muslims who are thirsty for transparent ideal Islamic system. This
behavior of Islamic banks has made the practices of Islamic banks more controversial. Proper
implication of current study can make great contribution in the literature of Islamic banking as it
will help Islamic banks to review their practices in order to fulfill the basic ethical principles of
Islam.

The Possibly Detrimental Effects of Cardiac Arrhythmia
Cardiac arrhythmia is defined as, a condition in which the heart s normal rhythm is disrupted
(Scholarpedia). A heart usually beats anywhere from 60 to 100 times a minute. If there is a
palpation or a fluttering rarely, the person should usually be fine. If these occur more often or on a
frequent manner, this cardiac arrhythmia could be very severe (Hopkinsmedicine). The hearts
electrical system is what controls the speed and pace of the heartbeat (NHLBI,NIH). Sinoatrial
node or SA node is located in the right atrium and controls the rhythm of the heart. The SA node is
cardiac muscle cells, and it acts as a pacemaker. Sinus rhythm is the regular heart rhythm
(Scholarpedia). Atrial tachycardia is when the heart beats too fast. On the other hand,
bradycardia is when the heart beats too slowly. The heart can also beat irregularly
(Hopkinsmedicine). The electrical signal goes from the SA node to the left and right atria. This
allows the atria to pump and contract blood to the ventricles. Then, the signal goes to the
atrioventricular or AV node. The electrical signal slows down here, so the ventricles have time to
fill themselves with blood. After the AV node, the electrical signal goes to the bundle of His,
where the signal is eventually transported to the ventricles. In this phase, the signal causes the
ventricles to contract and pump blood to the lungs and the other parts of the body (NHLBI, NIH).
The reason I described this whole process was for the reader to

  • 2. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety... Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder that is developed from witnessing or exposure to traumatic events that is threatening or creates a horrific fear, horror and sense of helplessness in a person. It is common among service men and women, especially those returning from overseas, who have been actively engaged in combat operations overseas. Although PTSD is not limited to solely service men and women, it can occur in children and civilians, who encounter tragic circumstances, such as those related to sexual trauma, physical assault, serious accidents and terrorist attacks, like the individuals who witnessed firsthand, the September 11th terrorist attack on the world trade center. In any case,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... and have extreme difficulties integrating in a society that is not threating. This is one of the biggest factors impeding in reintegrating in society, called turning it off which is simply trying to transition from one extreme to the other after prolonged exposure. Many factors hinder the transition, such as hyper vigilance; always scanning for threats and on the edge, anticipating something negative is going to happen. There are many triggers that Veterans associate their traumatic experiences with, and these include certain smells, sounds, sights, and so on. These triggers act as a reminder of the horrific events that occurred in the past, and remind the person of the event, and even re live the event as if it is taking place in real time. These are only a few examples of what most Veterans experience and live with on a day to day basis, as the list and conditions can go on and on. Because PTSD typically occurs soon after the traumatic event occurs, early intervention needs to take place. A common means of early intervention for persons suffering from PTSD is known as psychological debriefing (PD). PD attempts to lessen or prevent psychological damage by utilizing specialized debriefing methods. This tries to target the triggers causing PTSD to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Reflection Of A Personal Experience At Multimension The company I interned for this semester was MultiMension. It is a company founded and run by my intern supervisor, Julie Hyunjoo Lee. MultiMension is an E learning company that produces digital media tools for the various instructional needs of customers. These tools come in the form of online courses, infographics, animations, and interactive tutorials that are tailors to target audiences. The company has also been involved in mobile application design and development. They recently released a new meal planner application, called Nuttri. This is the product I worked exclusively with during my internship this semester. Nuttri is a baby meal planner application for apple and android mobile devices. It is currently designed for parents of infants who are between 4 to 24 months. The application provides information on different foods and nutrients that parents can use to make decisions on what and how parents plan for their baby s meals. The meals can be planned in the app calendar, with the ability to record the child s opinion of the meal after. Information on seasonality and preparation of ingredients help parents to prepare the right meals for a child during different periods of development. Addition information and scientific references are available on the website for the Nuttri application to allow parents to learn more on infant nutrition and development. My main role in the development of the Nuttri application was a research intern. My majors are Human Biology and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Negative Impacts Of Rising Sea Levels Over the past 100 years, global sea levels have risen at astounding rates and only now are governments, business, and people beginning to understand just how negatively this will affect the world, not only now, but in the future as well. For many ports the growing issue of how rising sea levels, both locally and globally, is one that they do not have a plan in place to address it. The ports face a negative impact from damage to both their own facilities and equipment, but also the infrastructure in the areas surrounding the port. Financing any additions or upgrades to a port s operations will be difficult for many reasons such as that the variability in the expected rise in sea level for the over the next century makes it difficult for accurate planning to be done. Rising sea levels has two main causes, increased glacier melt and the water itself expanding as it gets warmer known as thermal expansion (U.S.). The increased heat in water that is causing glaciers to melt and the water to expand is largely due to greenhouse gas emissions (U.S.). The dependence on fossil fuels by many countries around the world means that there will be difficulties in reducing continued damage to the atmosphere from greenhouse gasses ( Causes ). Another reason that greenhouse gas emissions have had such negative effect stems from the destruction of forests, particularly those in tropical locations ( Causes ). Sea level is expected to continue to rise despite changes that have been or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Effects Of Radiation Exposure On Medical Radiation Why is this a problem About 15% of the ionizing radiation exposure to the people comes from man made sources and almost all of these exposures are due to medical radiation, which is vastly from diagnostic and therapeutic sources(9). Out of 3 mSv annual global per caput effective dose (2000), 2.4 mSv is from natural background and 0.4 mSv from diagnostic medical exams(5,9). and since then many new therapeutic and diagnostic methods have been implemented making the exposure dose due to medical radiation to go up. How to minimize dose Dental X rays accounts for about 2.5 percent of the effective dose from all forms of medical radiographs (75). As previously discussed, dental radiation exposure is low; but, it is the dentists responsibility to follow the guidelines such as ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) and ALADA (As Low as Diagnostically Acceptable) principles(3). Some of the ways that can that be helpful in minimizing dosage are use of the fastest image receptor compatible with the diagnostic task (F speed film or digital)(1), proper film exposure and processing techniques, collimation of the beam to the size of the receptor, use of protective aprons and thyroid collars, (8) and limiting the number of images obtained to the minimum necessary to obtain essential diagnostic information. Frequency of exams As previously mentioned Dental professionals need to carefully examine the patient health history, oral clinical observation and caries risk assessment to determine if radiographs are necessary and keep the exposure ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). • 7. Essay on The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Jr. At the beginnings of the 1900s, some leading magazines in the U.S have already started to exhibit choking reports about unjust monopolistic practices, rampant political corruption, and many other offenses; which helped their sales to soar. In this context, in 1904, The Appeal to Reason, a leading socialist weekly, offered Sinclair $500 to prepare an exposГ© on the meatpackingindustry (Cherny). To accomplish his mission, Sinclair headed to Chicago, the center of the meatpacking industry, and started an investigation as he declared I spent seven weeks in Packingtown studying conditions there, and I verified every smallest detail, so that as a picture of social conditions the book is as exact as a government report (Sinclair, The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And he writes of dishonest politicians and tricky real estate salesmen. At the core of the story, Sinclair tells about the devastation and the falling apart of Jurgis s family as a result of the ruthless, abusive, and oppressive nature of work and life in Packingtown. By the end, Jurgis wanders alone, deprived of all dignity. He comes across a rally of political socialists, hears a speech on socialism, and enthusiastically converts to that cause. In the last chapters of the novel, Sinclair manifests arguments for socialism, in the form of speeches that Jurgis hears. The book ends with an appeal of a socialist speaker to Organize! Organize! Organize! so that Chicago will be ours! Chicago will be ours! CHICAGO WILL BE OURS! (Sinclair 372 73) So, according to some critics, it becomes clear that The Jungle is a propaganda destined to promote socialism over capitalism, and to reveal the hollowness of the American Dream, which capitalists define it as being the ability for people to improve their lot and to attain their aspiration for better lives through hard work. Throughout The Jungle, Sinclair portrays the American Dream from a socialist vision, and illustrates it as being a mere fictitious fantasy by the capitalists in order to keep the working class blind to the truth and under their everlasting hegemony. In regards to the American capitalist system, in Sinclair s viewpoint, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Questioning the Sanity of Hamlet in Shakespeare s Hamlet,... In William Shakespeare s tragedy, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, we, as readers, increasingly question the sanity of the protagonist, Hamlet, as the play continues. His seemingly psychotic banter with the other characters of the play begins to convince us that Hamlet is, indeed, insane. Hamlet, however, states, How strange or odd soe er I bear myself, as I perchance hereafter shall think meet to put an antic disposition on (1.5.171). He specifically tells Horatio and Marcellus that he will be acting mad, as a front. Hamlethas an exceptional grasp on mental philosophy and the uses and effects of logic, more so than the other characters of the play. Because of this, Hamlet appears insane to others, but in fact remains true to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Horatio and Hamlet see each other for the first time in a long while, they immediately are excited. Hamlet, with his sometimes sinister blunt remarks, goes on to tell of how close the wedding and funeral are to each other. Thrift, thrift, Horatio. The funeral baked meats did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables (1.2.179). However, on the opposite end of the spectrum of Hamlet s commentary, his conversations with Polonius are rude and often pointed. In act 2 scene 2, Hamlet makes fun of Polonius for being old and for his long winded speeches, but does so with such intelligence and awareness that Polonius fails to understand what Hamlet is saying at all, thereby thinking Hamlet is simply mad. This differentiation between playful banter and slanderous remarks show that Hamlet was incredibly mentally alert. More than just being aware of the logic in a situation, Hamlet is mentally present enough to question even his own thought processes. Hamlet is in the position of the professional philosopher who criticizes his thoughts while he is thinking them (Davis 631). In Hamlet s to be or not to be soliloquy (3.1.58), he is questioning his own thinking by debating with himself about whether or not people dream after death. It takes a sane mind to be able to equally weigh the consequences of something as dark and intense as suicide. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Creatine Literature Review Literature Review: Creatine Supplementation Introduction Creatine is a natural substance that occurs in the body, it is also a supplement that has been tested by numerus athletes over the years to see whether it has a positive effect on performance. However, there is anecdotal evidence that suggests creatine supplementation may be the cause of negative side effects such as dehydration, the increase of muscle cramping and an increase in blood pressure. One way the supplementation of creatine can improve performance is by aiding the resynthesise ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate ) stores within the body in order to produce energy at a quicker rate therefore the most common athletes to take creatine are high intensity power athletes who are repeated actions multiple times. Such as those doing long distance events such as cycling, swimming and running, it may also be used as a way of recovery for sprinters. A study carried out by Kreider R.B et al. (1998) concluded that there were increases in the performance of isotonic lifting and sprinting during agility after taking creatine supplements. Although creatine has been believed to help recovery, research undertaken by Stroud et al. (1994), would suggest that there was no difference in the recovery periods. This review of literature will examine as to whether creatine should be recommended to athletes based on current research. Similarities Between Frankenstein And Rappaccini s Daughter Nature and Nurture in Frankenstein and Rappaccini s Daughter One of the most popular disputes in the history of philosophy regards whether nurture of a human being plays a more important role in the formation of its character than the genetic heritage that it bears. As a natural result, the dispute echoes in many literary works, not always directly, but sometimes taking the form of a pretext or a motif in a larger context. Such examples are Frankenstein by Marry Shelley and Rappaccini s Daughter , by Nathaniel Hawthorne. We find evidence in that sense from Doctor Baglioni, another character in the story: Rappaccini is said to have instructed her deeply in his science, and that, young and beautiful as fame reports her, she is already qualified to fill a professor s chair (Hawthorne 878). But the truth is that, as she confesses later in the story, she knows nothing about the science of botany that her father is involved in; actually, she is only familiar with the flower s hues and perfumes ( Hawthorne 883). She practically knows as much as a child of small age would; her education also lacks any form of interaction experience with the society. Hawthorne presents her father, Doctor Rappaccini, as her only companion of life. Her reason for isolation is related to her father s overprotective attitude towards his only child. Rappaccini raises her in the neighborhood of poisonous flowers, making her immune to them, but also transforming her into a source of poison. Beatrice is aware of the poison that she exudes; thus she becomes indirectly isolated from the rest of the world by her father. The deadly attribute Beatrice possesses places a social safeguarding wall around her. The similarity between the monster s isolation and Beatrice s isolation is thus obvious. Retirement Is An Important Life Transition Retirement is recognised as being an important life transition (Szinovacz, 1980), associated with a number of adjustments including social roles, income and daily routine adaption s (Pinquart Schindler, 2007). Although there is no single definition of what retirement is within existing literature (Denton Spencer, 2009), it can arguably be best understood as an subjective journey involving a psychosocial transition rather than a single event of exiting work or an objective life transition (Matour Prout, 2007, Kim Moen, 2002). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, due to the limited qualitative research, quantitative research has been supplemented to provide an understanding of the retirement transition. Even though quantitative literature will be reviewed, a critical stance is taken due to the different assumptions and philosophical underpinnings which are highlighted throughout. Firstly, retiree s can experience some losses during the retirement transition. It can be suggested that work is more than just bringing home an income (Kleiber Linde, 2014). For example, many individuals significantly identify with a work role which may have implications when adjusting to retirement life. Osborne (2012) suggests during the retirement transition, individuals can experience partial identity disruption. Identity refers to cognitive and effective meanings that an individual attributes to one s self in a role (Reitzes Mutran, 2006, p. 336). One explanation of this disruption is provided by role theory (George, 1993) which suggests individuals former roles within employment may form an integral part of their identity (Price, 2003). Therefore, it is suggested that psychological distress can occur due to the loss in retiree s previous work role which may disrupt their identity (Kim Moen, 2002). However, ... So why haven t more businesses adopted this highly effective approach? PARADIGM SHIFT Before business leaders or HR professionals can even contemplate a fresh approach to controlling health care costs, they have to be open to looking at the facts surrounding the problem in a new light. In other words, they have to experience a paradigm shift. A paradigm shift isn t easy to accomplish. As human beings, we are creatures of habit, and we re accustomed to thinking in established patterns. Moreover, the current way of thinking about health care costs ВЇ that they re a huge problem individuals can t possibly address in a meaningful way ВЇ is reinforced by what practically everyone else says about the issue, from politicians to CEOs to union leaders. The Truth Behind The Collective Memory Just after the end the First World War, a phenomenal fear emerged in many societies that prevalent chaos and struggle to restore peace in politics, economics and the society itself, was irrevocable consequence of men brutalized by the war cruelty. The hope that war was to end war had been proven to be far from truth. Hence, it is ironic that the need to somehow legitimize war experience, created what George L. Mosse calls the Myth of the War Experience. Such view, based upon no matter whether a real or just presupposed threat, meant that foe was stereotyped. For instance, Mosse recalls that pre existed tensions and dislike of Jews associated with Bolshevism turned to become a massive hatred, imposing that they were the only to be blamed for Germany s after war hardships. This contempt to the enemy was exposed through various forms of propaganda which became inseparable contrast of the ideal of manliness. Upsurge of the warrior ideal the man of steel , indirectly encouraged barbarism within the society. Many physicists have faith that at some point a Grand Unified Theory will be developed which will provide a unified description of the universe from subatomic particles to the movement of the planets. Like in physics, the cognitive sciences can describe the brain at different levels of abstraction. For example, neurobiologists study brain function at the level of neurons while psychologists look for the laws describing behavior and cognitive mechanisms. Also like in physics, many in these fields believe that it is possible that one day we will be able to understand complicated behaviors in terms of neuronal mechanisms. Others believe that this unification isn t possible even in theory because there is some metaphysical quality to consciousness that transcends neural firing patterns. In the Phaedo, Socrates argues that knowledge is simply being reminded of something you already knew previously. He also argues that philosophers practice for death by ignoring passions and bodily wants in order to better the soulto guarantee a pleasant afterlife. Philosophers spend their lives seeking knowledge, which is simply remembering what they knew in their lives before mortal birth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same is with recollection. In fact, the example given was a type of recollection. It is simply being brought back to memory something you had once known before. Socrates says to Cebes and Simmias that the soul knew everything before it was born, but they did not agree with him. When did our souls acquire the knowledge of them? Certainly not since we were born as men. Indeed no. Before that then? Yes (Phaedo, 76c). To prove the Theory of Recollection, if Cebes and Simmias agreed that our souls didn t acquire knowledge at birth, then the soul must have acquired it before birth, and therefore everything you recognize or know in your mortal existence, came from knowledge you had before you were born. The Theory of Recollection works and is a valid argument because we know that Socrates believes our bodies are imperfect and always changing, and our souls are perfect and never changed. Since knowledge is a perfect and unchanging thing, it could not have come to be during our mortal, changing, and imperfect life. The story is very powerful in that it goes beyond the book and into the lives of the audience; making the audience feel some type of relation between themselves and the story. Dostoevsky was brilliant in creating a fictional world where the characters seem to be found within the audience, transitioning from a fictional story to a self help book. He employes many life lessons in the story, which give the audience a new perspective on themselves. In the book Crime and Punishment, I personally, see myself as Raskolnikov. I feel that his view of the world is similar to mine in that we both are somewhat disgusted by our fellow man, and that we have little faith in humanity. We are also similar in that we both feel as if we are alienated from society in a way. • 56. The Possibly Detrimental Effects of Cardiac Arrhythmia Cardiac arrhythmia is defined as, a condition in which the heart s normal rhythm is disrupted (Scholarpedia). A heart usually beats anywhere from 60 to 100 times a minute. If there is a palpation or a fluttering rarely, the person should usually be fine. If these occur more often or on a frequent manner, this cardiac arrhythmia could be very severe (Hopkinsmedicine). The hearts electrical system is what controls the speed and pace of the heartbeat (NHLBI,NIH). Sinoatrial node or SA node is located in the right atrium and controls the rhythm of the heart. The SA node is cardiac muscle cells, and it acts as a pacemaker. Sinus rhythm is the regular heart rhythm (Scholarpedia). Atrial tachycardia is when the heart beats too fast. On the other hand, bradycardia is when the heart beats too slowly. The heart can also beat irregularly (Hopkinsmedicine). The electrical signal goes from the SA node to the left and right atria. This allows the atria to pump and contract blood to the ventricles. Then, the signal goes to the atrioventricular or AV node. The electrical signal slows down here, so the ventricles have time to fill themselves with blood. After the AV node, the electrical signal goes to the bundle of His, where the signal is eventually transported to the ventricles. In this phase, the signal causes the ventricles to contract and pump blood to the lungs and the other parts of the body (NHLBI, NIH). The reason I described this whole process was for the reader to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
