How Great Of An Honor Is It At Host An Event Such As The...
How great of an honor is it to host an event such as the Olympics? According to Stefan Szymanski,
the hosting of major sporting events has become the subject of intense competition among nations.
Governments will make large financial commitments in order to win the bidding competition. The
regression of big time sporting events have changed immensely, from firstly being about showing
who the best athlete was, to now a way of nations being able to bring fame and possible fortunes
to their doors for just hosting such huge events. 2000 2015 has been a time span where the
conversation about the Olympics, it s events, and it s policies have changed.
The Olympic games originated in ancient Greece, about 3,000 years ago (8th century B.C. to 4th
century A.D.) (A+E Networks, 2015). The games took place in Olympia located in the western
Peloponnese peninsula. At first the Olympic games were used as a religious festival in honor of
the ruler of gods, Zeus. After many years the Olympic games were re introduced in the 19th
century, which was done to bring countries back together as one and participate in this world
wide competition of olympians. The games as a whole have changed the way of how people see
the athletes. In the beginning of it all, the athletes competed for their religious believes, now the
race to be the best is at its highest, with the 28 sports to participate in. According to the author, the
number of professional has increased by approximately 10,500 professional

David Garlands On The Concept Of Moral Panic
Australia is known for its cultural consumption of alcohol, to levels such as binge drinking. The
growing epidemic poses serious health risks to the affected populous as well as associations
between violence, misdemeanours and binge drinking which are acts that are in violation of the
law and punishable by the law (Rush 2003, p4). Which effectively justifies the public s growing
concern. David Garlands article On the concept of moral panic highlights that society will always
be subject to numerous forms of moral panic. The intensity and effect of the panic depends on the
threat and the way it is delivered as well as by whom. Identifying a moral panic, Garland
summarises five elements that help classify a social reaction. There are prompts

Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League
Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their
respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National
Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college
eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants
in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility
maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide
an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of
commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially
constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the
opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision
making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction
framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this
decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that
the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences
and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases
chronologically, delving into the

The Impact Of Payroll Tax
Oct 3, 2014 The Impact of Payroll Tax
Payroll taxes are the federal tax and the state tax contributed by the employer and employee to
finance health care, pension, benefits for disability and compensation for the injured employee.
Pay roll tax falls under two categories: one deduction from the employee s wage and another is
based on employee s wage paid by the employer. In the first kind of payroll tax, employer reserve
certain fraction of their employee s earning s. It is also known as pay as you go tax (PAYG) or
pay as you earn tax (PAYE). One the other hand, in the second kind the employer s pays the tax
from his/her own fund and is directly related to employing a worker. The sum paid by the
employer normally covers the employer s finance of the social security system, Medicare, and
other insurance programs. The US government charges two distinct payroll taxes in labor wage.
The first tax is a 12.4 percent to fund the social security in which the first dollar an individual
earns in income up to a cap of $117,000 in 2014. Each year the cap is adjusted to the change in
the wage. Both the employer and employees share the equal burden in the tax i.e. 50 percent
from each side out of total 12.4 percent. The second tax funds the Medicare which is 2.9 percent
payroll tax and is also levied from the first dollar of income but has no cap. This tax is also divided
equally between employers and

Cultural Values And Its Impact On Identity
People has been trying to find their own identity throughout their lives. Identity, in fact, is a
changing subject that are influenced by many different experiences and circumstances. Identity is
the product of varieties of sources and is hard to return to its original shape. The society and the
environment that people grow up in play major roles in impacting their identity. Changes in these
environments create an ever lasting changes in these identity. Identity slowly becomes concealed in
order to help people better survive in their society. People s real identity becomes hidden so that
they can better cope with the changes in culture, learning experience, society s expectations, and,
stereotype. Sometimes, people have to hide their concerns and identity in order to obey cultural
changes and avoid being culturally excluded. Culture impacts people s background and values.
Their culture plays a major role in determining who they are. Cultural practices and values may
change as the culture goes through different experiences. However, there are times that these
cultural values and practices become incorrect as they are changed. Yet, it is difficult for people to
question these values and beliefs. For example, Terry Tempest Williams states that in The Clan of
One Breasted Women that obedience is revered, and independent thinking is not (546). Independent
thinking are eliminated in order to avoid differences in opinions within the culture. Cultures
appreciate obedience

Midway, the Battle That Ultimately Doomed Japan in WWII
By: John King Could a loss at Midway have cost America the Pacific, and led to WWII ending in a
different way? The Battle of Midway is know as the turning point of the war in the Pacific. It turned
the tables and put the United States into an offensive position. Midway was one, if not the, most
important battle of World War II because of the background, strategies, battle tactics, and most
importantly the outcome and effects of this battle. Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 a date which will
live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air
forces of the Empire of Japan. These words were spoken the day after the bombing of Pearl ... Show

The U.S. lost one aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington, and the USS Yorktown was severely
damaged, but would make it back to port for repair. These Pacific battles were what led to the
Japanese Empire trying to deliver a finishing blow to the U.S. Navy. The Japanese commander,
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was in command of the Japanese Pacific Fleet. The Japanese plan
was very simple. First, they would create a diversion by launching an attack on the Aleutian
Islands. Then, they would send three groups of ships to Midway. One was a group of soldiers to
invade the island. The second group was battleships, the heavy gun power. One of these happened
to be the largest battleship in the world, the Yamato. And finally, the third group contained four
big aircraft carriers and their battle task force. The carriers held a combined 248 planes. They
planned to attack and destroy the U.S. base. This attack would make the U.S. send their carriers to
the island to try and save the island. They would ambush the U.S. carriers and destroy them once
they got there. To the Japanese, their plan was unstoppable because they had three times more ships
than the U.S. and the element of surprise.
Unfortunately for Japan, they made the mistake of under estimating the U.S. intelligence agency. In
Pearl Harbor, where the war started, the U.S. deciphered the code the Japanese were using to
communicate. They were able to learn very important details that would help incredibly in their

The Reasons that Led to the Attack on the World Trade Center
I was only 6 years old at the time when the 9/11 happened, and I didn t find out until a few weeks
later when my parents showed me the video. I have never seen anything like that but in movies, so
the first thought that came up in my mind when I saw the video was what movie is that. My
parents tried to explain what was happening, but at the time, I couldn t process what had happened
or really understand what they explained. 12 years later I m 18 now, during that period of time I
immigrated to the United States, in school on the extended date of September 11 we always have
the moment of silence, and I didn t understand why we do the moment of silence, so I did some
research about 9/11. Now I clearly understand that the United States encounter the largest terrorist
attack in history, and the reason why the United States is involved in war with Afghanistan.
United States involvements in Afghanistan is one of the longest wars in our history. Rajiv
Chandrasekaran editor of the Washington post, describes the involvement as we ve asked them
to do a lot more, in a smaller serving force, in some of the longest wars in our history (2014. Para.
14). U.S. involvement in Afghanistan has been going on for many years, and for the first time
ever, our involvement was a mistake. The main reason why U.S. is involved in Afghanistan it s for
the attack on 9/11. As the Unite Nations charter s collective security frame work in the 21st century

Lifting A Truck Essay
When we think of the word big trucks you think of monster trucks first but it actually can also
mean the big tall lift of a truck and that is how monster trucks came to be. Lifting a vehicle over
the legal height is not allowed on the streets because of how big the vehicle is when modified
and can run the risk of running people off the road or over their car. When lifting a vehicle
started out it was for the everyday man or woman who was interested in mudding there vehicle to
the max and now it has became much more popular because people love the thrill of riding higher
than everyone else and can still mud in their everyday driver. The method of lifting a vehicle was
first used by the military and when the wars were over... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lifts were starting to go into the favor of the law again and when it did the changes were
starting to make people upset and tired of all the law changes. In Illinois you can t lift the body
from the chassis more than 3 inches. In terms of bumper height, a GVWR(gross vehicle weight
rating) of 4,500 pounds or less and your front bumper can t go higher than 24 inches. GVWRs
between 4,501 and 7,500 pounds determine the maximum height of 27 inches at the front and 29
inches at the rear. Finally, if your truckis between 7,501 and 9,000 pounds, the allowable
alteration is a maximum height of 28 inches in front and 30 inches in back. The laws of lifting
were made to help keep the safety of the road and not to make everybody run off the road
because of a big lifted truck heading down the road. When the lift wasn t enough the tires
became the next big thing and the tries acted as a lift kit as well. The big tires added as much as
a three inch lift if you ordered big tires and some were just adding only one inch but with the big
tires you could lift your truck without installing a bigger lift

The Ambivalent Nature Of The Uncanny
The notion of the uncanny is the key term for psychoanalysis and the psychoanalytical approach for
interpretation of the art. The uncanny effect is ingrained not by something unfamiliar or something
frightening but because it conveys something that has been lived through and exuded to the sphere
of an unconscious. Freud s 1919 essay of the same name The Uncanny has been written for literary,
psychoanalytic, critical, however not art purpose at all. It has erupted into aesthetics discourse
(Walsh 21). The notion of the uncanny constitutes an inevitable part of Freudian theory of
repression. This notion exemplifies eruption of the retrospect events in the actual time, whereas
mnemonic representation has been perplexed by fragments. Thus,... Show more content on

An important insight is the understanding of the background, of the era at the beginning of the 20th
century. Freud s thought evolves on a specific background around it, during the process of
industrialization, development of the technologies from photo cinematic inventions to the
mechanisms applied in war. Visual arts such as painting, motion pictures, photography were aimed
at mirroring an uncovered epoch and life in it, together with the military conflict and further
militarization which aligned a human being to a machine, an automaton (Freud 227), as a result
these aspects threaten an ordinary, habitual way of life and trigger the inceptives of the uncanny
sensations. Regardless the above mentioned foray of cutting edge machinery, Freud, nevertheless,
derives the instances of sensus numinis from literary studies, namely Romantic and Gothic
literature. These are the instances such as the opposition between being animate or inanimate which
evokes intellectual uncertainty (Freud 221) whether the events or the objects that are presented to
the intended reader by the writer are legitimate or fictitious, in other words, whether the situation is
real or imaginary . A further source of the uncanny feeling that is delivered by Freud from
psychoanalytical experience is anchored to the fear of castration (Freud 231). Freud refers this
example to the

Myths About Nudism
Myths about Nudism
Nudism also knew as naturism is cultural as well as political movement practicing defending and
advocating personal and social nudity. It mostly takes place on private property. It can also be
used to refer to a personal, social or family based lifestyle. Nudism is the actual act of being naked
while naturism is the lifestyle that at times embraces the respect of other people, self respect, nature,
the environment, a healthy eating, healthy living through exercise and nudity. Because of the
different stereotypes, people have towards the culture of nudism, over time, they have developed
false assumptions and myths about nudism perpetuated by the media which are listed and
explained below.
Nudists are always naked
So many factors contradict the claim of nudists going naked all the time such as the weather, the

Nudism cannot be about sex, but it is insincere to say it is asexual. Human beings, a large
percentage of them, are sexual beings and that includes nudists, it is not as if when someone
becomes a nudist, their sexuality is stripped off them. Just like any other normal human beings,
nudists experience sexual attraction and have sex. They express affection in public regardless of
them being naked or with clothes. There may be a strong association between nudity and sex in
today s culture, but that is not the case. In nudist settings, people will behave sexually as people on
a textile beach setting; they will all act in the same manner, talk about stuff, do skinny dipping, flirt,
sunbathe and laugh about stuff. It does not mean that when people are all naked, they cannot
control themselves because they can do that whether they are naked or

Diversity In Literature
On October 18 I attended Dr. Ramona s star lecture Justice for All. Dr. Ramona discussed how
justice plays a role in children and young adult literature. She shows how important it is to not
only show differsity in books but also how important it is to make sure that everyone can read
and has access to books. She spoke on how importance of main characters that have similar
backgrounds am you, but also to be able to see people with different backgrounds doing the same
everyday activities as you.
In this paper, I will argue that having different cultures represented in children s books is an
important part of children s literature. I will argue this by showing how it influences our views, and

realize that everyone goes through similar things, and no one is better than anyone else. Diverse
characters in children s literature have been used for many years to introduce children to a variety

Performance Appraisals and Employee Performance
Performance Appraisals and Employee Performance: Performance appraisals are constantly
viewed as burdensome tasks that employers would like to avoid despite understanding the
significance of evaluating the performance of employees. This consideration is further fueled in
organizations and companies with minimal pay raises and bonuses as well as those with
downsized compensations. Organizations that take similar initiatives to deal with current
economic challenges also experience difficulties in task of conducting performance appraisals of
employees. However, there is need to ensure that the performance appraisal process remains a
priority for the employers through focusing on its advantages and effect on increasing employee
performance. While the effectiveness of performance appraisals is influenced by various problem
areas, effective performance appraisals enhance employee performance. Performance Appraisal
Process: The process of conducting performance appraisals plays a crucial role in helping
employee to meet job related objectives. This process can largely be conducted through informal
and formal settings but is mainly dependent on communications. Actually, the effectiveness of the
performance appraisal process is dependent on communications to a large extent. The informal
performance appraisal process is carried out in the daily operations of an organization since
informal discussions take place and offer immediate performance feedback (Richman, 2011). On the

Obergefell V. Hodges Case Study
Introduction:
The United States is considered a great nation by some. It is a nation filled with monumental
success, wealth, prosperity, opportunity, and in general, one of the most impressive nations in the
world. But, the United States is also filled with hate, discrimination, disparity, and a history riddled
with grotesque treatment of those of a varying nature known today as minorities. A minority, is a
culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct group that coexists with but is subordinate to a more
dominant group. In the United States, there are a wide array of minorities like African American,
LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender), and Women of any race or ethnicity. Although,
this a small few of the minority members in the United States, these groups have faced very large
troubles from the majority, which is classified as upper class, white males. African Americans were
made slaves, women couldn t vote, LGBT couldn t marry one another in the early years of this
nation. With the changing times more and more advances in the equal treatment of minorities come
to pass. Of all the groups mentioned, the one that has made a more recent stride is the LGTB
community, which recently has recently obtained the right to marry in every state thanks to the
Obergefell v. Hodges case.
Historical Timeline:
The decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges case is a monumental victory considering the poor
treatment of the members of this minority. Historically, the LGTB community has

Culture As Common Practices And Knowledge
When describing culture, I feel it is different in all places of the world, but has the same meaning.
I define culture as common practices and knowledge held by a group of people in a fixed area.
Most areas have their own individual culture, but they can connect to each other in some way.
Learning about a different cultureis something I did with my own experiences. Having done this, I
see culture as civilizations having their own look on life individually.
With culture being practices and knowledge held by groups in certain areas, I have witnessed this
in person. In the summer of 2015, I had the most amazing opportunity of my life so far to come
my way. My youth group was going on an international mission trip, and I had the possibility to go
to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Getting this news for the first time, I felt butterflies in my stomach,
warmth rushing throughout my body, and the urge to jump out of my seat. You can certainly say I
was excited for my new adventure to begin. This would be a completely new experience for me
because I had never even been out of the United States.
To start off the trip, I had to wake before dawn, and when the stars were still twinkling in the
night sky. My brother and I were the two from our family to embark on this trip and we both
woke up with dark bags under our eyes, but we were ready for the long plane ride ahead of us.
This being my first international trip, it was also my first plane ride. We got on the plane and I did

Age 12
Eunah met Jungkook through her cousin Yuki. Jungkook happened to be Yuki s cousin as well.
Eunah was Yuki s third cousin Yuki s mother and Eunah s mother were cousins. Eunah was her

the weekends, Yuki s parents drove them down a couple of streets away to spend time with their
other relatives. It was one fateful day when Eunah got asked if she wanted to go with them and

and Eunah met at the age of twelve.
It was during Yuki s last summer in the country before they moved to Japan that Eunah had spent
every single night with Yuki and her other cousins down at Jungkook s place. Being kids and new
to the whole area of liking the opposite gender, Eunah developed a crush on Jungkook and she was

Negative Visualization Oliver Burkeman Summary
In Oliver Burkeman s essay, The Benefits of Negative Visualization , he discusses how Negative
Visualization is more likely to make people happier than positive visualization. Burkeman supports
his argument by describing Ottogen s experiment and how one spends more time in thinking how
well things will go instead of achieving one s goal due to one s lack of motivation.
Unlike positive visualization, Negative visualization is more likely to make someone happier as
Burkeman argues. Not only does negative visualization make one happier, but it is also some
beneficial to one s happiness. The first benefit he is Hedonic adaption. Hedonic adaptation is
temporarily happiness that is created until one is reminded of the loss. Burkeman then later

One other good thing about digital money would be it would continue to collect interest up until
the moment it is spent, instead of the instant it leaves the bank. Perhaps the best feature of digital
money is it could end all money based crime. Because the person could cancel their old number

Computers have revolutionized meteorology, allowing us to predict with good accuracy how the
weather will behave in the near future. They also allow us a generalized prediction of changes in
the climate farther down the road.
Some scientists think they have discovered reason to believe the polar ice cap is going to melt
soon. These scientists scraped up volcanic ash and other debris from the land areas surrounding
the ice and ran tests on it with a computer. They seem to think that only three million years ago
there was a warm period and some of the cap melted off (Livermore 38 43). This is totally different
from conventional thinking which says the cap has been there for fifteen million years.

Counter Identification
But so far this account has been too descriptive. What are the reasons why counter identities as a
subversive emancipatory tactic are not enough on the long run? An explanation is necessary, and it
can be encountered in Foucault s own writings. Towards his later work Foucault realizes that the
mechanisms of exclusion or separation (Madness and Civilization) and of surveillance or correction
(Discipline and Punish), although still a way for the power of the state to exercise sovereignty over
the subjects, were not the predominant mechanism of domination of the modern state. Since the
eighteenth century, the construction and isolation or punishment of alterity gives way to a new
mode in which the sovereign exercise his right over the people:... Show more content on

We tried to get outside identification and we encountered that counter identification did not solve
it, now we go outside them both and we encounter life; it will be appropriate to suspect that
beyond life lies another big problem waiting for us. But it is even worse, for we cannot get
outside of life, literally and also in Foucault s schema. And his affirmation that there is no outside
of power takes a more deep meaning when we are talking about biopower. Death is the only
outside. We have to work within life, resistance can only take place where power, subjections,
strategies of liberations and the logic of transformations are interwoven (Revel 49). Butler in a
similar vein expresses: The juridical structures of language and politics constitute the
contemporary field of power; hence, there is no position outside this field, but only a critical
genealogy of its own legitimating practices (GT 8). However, although she recognizes our
incapacity to move outside of power, her argument is too tied to language, only one realm of
life; nevertheless, she points at a crucial way of resisting power from within in the body of
incoherent or discontinuous gendered beings who appear to be persons but who fail to conform to
the gendered norms of cultural intelligibility by which persons are defined (23). With this notion
of the incoherent and discontinuous she attacks the ideas of stability, permanence, personhood and
everything that both identity and counter identity entail. The basis for these arguments is
Foucault, who, in order to resist biopower, looked for modes of subjectivation that could attempt
to escape the objective frame of power and allow non selfsame (non identitaire) subjectivities to
emerge (Revel 47). This resistance is defined by Foucault as a way of life , meaning a mode of
living (since we cannot escape biopolitics) that can generate its own possibilities, a positive
resistance which not only says

Essay on The Dualism of Joe Christmas
William Faulkner s protagonist, Joe Christmas trajectory and immoral decisions become the
Siren s song that tip him over the stern of the boat that is his life. Christmas path takes turns and
twists that create a taciturn man who has been brought into the world unwanted; then, he
ruthlessly moves forward looking back at his past in order to make decisions for his future.
Light In August parallels Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken , when Joe finds that he has
reached a fork in the road and has to plan for kind of life he wants to lead, contradicting factors

abridged by the decisions he makes. Joe hung a chair, his murder weapon, over his head. At that

My Childhood Memories Of My Family
Beginnings I was born on June 13, 2005, in Peoria IL. I have five family members. My dad s name
is Mike, my mom s name is Amber, my brother s name is Andrew, and my twin sister s names are
Macy and Mariah. I currently live in Goodfield, Il, in a subdivision called Lakes at Oak Valley. We
live by a big pond that is great for fishing and swimming. We have hosted many big events at my
house and it is perfect for familyget togethers or swim parties. For my family vacations, I have
been to the following places/states: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Alabama,
Connecticut, Oregon, Canada, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Haiti, Florida, Arizona, New
Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Michigan. I have had
many childhood memories, but my favorite is probably a vacation whenever I went on the
longest road in the U.S. It goes from Chicago to Los Angeles. The road is called Route 66. We
drove on most of it but near the end we headed toward California and went camping in Sequoia
National Park. We camped with some friends and even saw a bear trying to eat some of our food.
I always have a great relationship with all of my family members and I can always count on them
for help.
Obstacles
I haven t had too many obstacles throughout my life until recently. Just recently I found out that me

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Love Song Lyrics
Romance song lyrics are the most popular subject matter for songwriters because they are easily
relatable and bring up nostalgic memories. Often, love song lyrics are written from experience
about lost or unrequited love and trigger sentimental feelings that make listeners want to put them
on replay. The common written genre I am analyzing is songlyrics for lovesongs. It is important to
pay attention to this genre because a significant number of people listen to musicevery day but most
likely do not know the true message of the songs. They are often simple enough for the audience,
often teenagers or young adults who can relate more to these lyrics, to know every word even
middle schoolers can understand the lyrics. Love song lyrics give a personal opinion on the
composer s love life: Sam Smith reveals his confession and unrequited love in Leave Your Lover
and Adele examines the acceptance stage of a breakup in Someone Like You . By analyzing
Adele s and Sam Smith s choices of words, tone, and expression in their songs Someone Like You
and Leave Your Lover, I will discuss the specific topics, structure, and diction of song lyrics in
romance songs, and then use Adele s and Smith s lyrics to talk about the rhetorical situations to
show how people employ these pieces of writing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Necessary And Proper Clause Essay
Necessary and Proper Clause: Defined In Article 1 and section 8 of the Articles of the
Constitution the necessary and proper clause is defined. This clause is many times referred to as
the elastic clause as well. Its inclusion was to grant Congress the power and authority to carry out
the enumerated powers. The implied powers that Congress also possess, were granted with this
clause as a basis, these implied powers are required for Congress to execute the enumerated
powers. Some examples include, the power to collect and levy taxes and revenue, the authority to
also regulate currency and its value, as well as coining money. Without these specific powers, our
government doesn t have the authority or power to charter a bank, regulate the national currency or
the power to tax. The enumerated powers were clearly expanded with the inclusion of the implied
powers. (Janda, Berry, Goldman, 2012) One of the basic principles of our Constitution,... Show

The Patriot Accuracy
Is The Patriot accurate or not? This is a controversial question. I think the movie is partially
correct because some events did happen and some were made up. Even some of the characters
were made up in this movie. This movie is somewhat accurate because some events were real
and some were made up, some characters were not real and some where real, and some of the

movie is somewhat accurate because some events were real and some were made up. Like , the

left this battle unnamed. Another example is when the redcoats locked the screaming women,

The Works of Christina Rossetti
There comes a time in life, when one realizes what is important. To some, the most important
things in life come in a diamond embedded suitcase filled with the grand jewels of life: money,
love, and leaving legacies. People seem to have one simple thought, that having money and love is
the most important thing in life. However, that is not the case for Christina Rossetti. Her views on
life are very realistic and matter of fact. She believes earthly gifts and human emotions are not
important because none of it is permanent. She does not need money or love, and she does not care
if she is remembered. Rossetti reveals what is most important to her her relationship with God, not
her relationship with humanity. Rossetti displays what is important to her through her humble
plea in Song . In the poem, she is neither depressed, nor joyful; she simply states what she
believes. She believes that memorials and placing flowers on graves are not for the ones who are
deceased, but for those they leave behind. She asks them not to show her any special attention, she
will be dead and in death, one cannot feel, hear, speak, or think; therefore she will not be able to
acknowledge their gestures. Her lack of sympathy towards her loved ones shows her detachment
to material items as she rejects the love she will receive at the time of her death. Keeping the
memory of a lost loved one is a way for the living to keep the deceased alive. When thinking of
death, most are afraid that no one

Assessment Of Mental Health Counseling
Assessment in Mental Health Counseling
Starting from the day that we come into the world, we begin to develop personal pieces of a
puzzle and as we grow we try as we might to fit these pieces into our own individual and unique
puzzle. As this time progresses, we sometimes find that some of the pieces will fit, but we also
find at times that no matter how hard we try, some pieces never fit, , even when we try to force
them in place. In fact, some people say that when we try to force these pieces into the puzzle, it
can result in a challenge(s) that can last a very long time unless we seek someone who can help us
fit these pieces into the puzzle instead of trying to place by ourselves.
Luckily, there is someone who can help, and that someone is trained to assess a client correctly in
order to gain enough information to help a client turn their lives around. Having a solid
understanding of the client s background is a must if a counselor is to help that client with his/her
issues. There are certain times in a person s life when they need some help finding the pieces they
may have lost along their personal journey. A good counselor who is well trained and understands
the assessment role of mental health counseling can seek out information that is needed in order to
help a client find a piece, or pieces of the puzzle, that the clients been missing.
The assessment process can be the most important role of the counseling that will take place when

The Causes And Impacts Of World War II
World War II was a worldwide war that happened from 1939 to 1945. It involved the majority of
the world s countries including which eventually formed the two opposing military alliances the
Allies and the Axis. It was the largest war in history, and involved more than 100 million people
from over 30 countries. The major countries threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific
capabilities behind the war effort. World War II has had the most fatalities and injuries of any war
in human history, accumulating 50 million to 85 million fatalities, with most being civilians in the
Soviet Union and China. World War 2 had events such as the genocide of Jews orchestrated by
Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party, bombings, starvation, disease and the use of nuclear weapons on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki which was the first use of nuclear weapons in history.
During the war the royal navy had noticed that aircraft carriers were becoming the ultimate ships
for naval warfare, and that the royal navy s former naval superiority in terms of their battleships
had become irrelevant. The royal navy had noticed that battleships could no longer fulfil their
roles in a cost effective manner. They were too big, too expensive to build and maintain, and their
crews too large. Due to this the royal navy was an early innovator in aircraft carrier design,
introducing armoured flight decks, in place of the battleships. This then meant that the royal navy
focused more on building aircraft carriers and

The Principles Qualities Of A Good Teacher
In contrast, the type of inquire based approach that is taught in some of the SKE lessons at
University of Sussex allows the student to understand why a method works and encourage a
comprehension of the mechanics behind the steps taken to solve a problem. Personally, I have
noticed that as I gain confidence in my mathematical ability, these sessions become more
enjoyable. Still, to achieve confidence and be able to follow these lessons, I need to familiarize
myself with a method beforehand. For me this is most effectively achieved by solving series of
example problems by a given sequence of steps before embarking on a journey of understanding
the reasoning behind each step. These inquiry based lessons, therefore, are most valuable when
preceded by lessons with more direct instructions and teacher led demonstrations. Thus, this
supports my vision that since all students have their own preferred method for learning, even if
they are not aware of it, the ability to explain a topic in a number of different ways is one of the
principle qualities of a good teacher.
Interestingly, as part of the SKE course I was given the opportunity to spend some time in a college,
observing and assisting in lessons to students that needed to retake their GSCE exams. The main
method of teaching in these classes was purely instrumental, with the goal to equip the students with
the knowledge to pass their GSCE exams but without any deeper understanding of the methods. No

Transcendentalism In Emerson And Henry Thoreau And Emerson
I did not wish to live what was not life. (Thoreau 175) Is the life you are living the one you were
meant to live? Or are you caught up in the whirlwind of societal expectations, worries, and doubts?
Our ability to engage with life can seemingly drown in social expectations and burdens of life,
moreso now than ever. Fearing the possibility of not truly living, Henry Thoreau and Ralph
Emerson spearheaded a new philosophy and way of thinking, Transcendentalism. This approach to
life believes that a person can transcend the mundane and repetitive through living life fully
awake, achieved by: simplifying one s life, becoming self reliant and independent, and
communing with nature. Thoreau desired, to live deep and suck out the marrow of life, to live
so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that was not life, (175) and the aim of one s life is
to remain fully awake. Thoreau and Emerson had marginal differences in their approaches to the
main facets of Transcendentalism, simplicity, self reliance, and nature. While these facets hold
some value for Christians, wholeheartedly buying into this perspective can be dangerous as
simplicity becomes the road to salvation rather than Christ; self reliance becomes selfish and
arrogant; and nature is given God like qualities. Simple living. The ascetic lifestyle. Such a life
does not even occur to most people, but for Emerson and Thoreau, simplicity facilitates a higher
thought process, something necessary to be fully aware

In the past, the global mining industry has experienced many catastrophic breaches of the tailing

In an event of tailings dam breach, a huge mass of water and sediments, associated with toxic
chemicals will be released, resulting in disastrous environmental and socio economic impacts. For

Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration
Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve
vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those
include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to
vertical integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a
partnership with the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming
industry and, therefore, decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this
would decrease cost to Netflix and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the
viewer and increase customerloyalty and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved
when collaborating with supply companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company
when making strategic decisions. This improves the ability to effectively market products, and
improves distribution of products to the consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Increased efficiency and
control over quality are pros to vertical intergration for Netflix.
The biggest disadvantage to vertical integration would be cost to the company. It is expensive ...

bacteria, parasites, heat and even some forms of medication may cause skin rashes. There are also
some fairly common skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, and dermatitis that can
result in a rash. There are many natural essential oils that are tailor made for treating skin
conditions. If you have a skin rash you should look for essential oils that have antiseptic, anti

Even though that is true, experts have gone further by trying to find the roots and explain why
conflicts emerge in the first place. Two experts, Samuel P. Huntington and John R. Bowen, present
two different approaches towards the cause of conflicts in 21st century. Although there is a
difference between their approaches, both of them share the common believe that a conflict may
occur when one puts pressure on the other; but the reason why this pressure takes place, varies
among the two theories. In his article, The Clash of Civilizations , Huntington points out that in the

When it comes to this case, according to Huntington, the Western are accused by the Eastern for
double standard, one standard to their kin countries and a different standard to others (373). The
second key point that Huntington makes, is that the over pressure of a Western towards the non
Western creates allies between different cultures on the Eastern civilization. As he stated, the divine
line is not always sharp , hence civilizations may go through a cultural meltdown and states may
overpass their traditional and religion values. But this overlap creates even deeper division in the
foreign affairs where there are only two sides: The Western and the Rest. This was clearly evident
with Arabian countries in the post Gulf War period, when they switched sides and adapted a
Western policy against Sadam, who preferred an Anti Western policy. Moreover, the obstacles that
are created by the Western towards the non Western, brings the non Western civilization to a cross
road, where they either join the Western civilization, or create alliances among other non Western,
thus competing with the West by developing their own economic, military and political power
(376). For example, even though Japan is consider as an Eastern civilization, with a geographic

Self Reflection
Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school
essays were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy
grades. Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been
challenged yet to demonstrate my full writingability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a
writer. Throughout this course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside
of me and because of this, I was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written
throughout the WRC 1013 course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills,
communication skills and personal responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in
proofreading and learning how to receive more revisions from my peers.
After going through my essays, one self reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather
was my growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in
my first paper Behind the Screen VS. The Real World , my annotation and gathering information
from sources was very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of
what Rita Dove was trying to say in her piece Loose Ends . I state that, As you can see, this is

William Baker not only explains the physical aspects of the games , but the relationship between

which was, Virtually everyone knows that the modern Olympics are patterned on the Olympic

the Greek game s schedule, and the events that were planned for each day in order. the duration
of the festival was set at five days, with only two and a half days devoted to the games

  • 2. How Great Of An Honor Is It At Host An Event Such As The... How great of an honor is it to host an event such as the Olympics? According to Stefan Szymanski, the hosting of major sporting events has become the subject of intense competition among nations. Governments will make large financial commitments in order to win the bidding competition. The regression of big time sporting events have changed immensely, from firstly being about showing who the best athlete was, to now a way of nations being able to bring fame and possible fortunes to their doors for just hosting such huge events. 2000 2015 has been a time span where the conversation about the Olympics, it s events, and it s policies have changed. The Olympic games originated in ancient Greece, about 3,000 years ago (8th century B.C. to 4th century A.D.) (A+E Networks, 2015). The games took place in Olympia located in the western Peloponnese peninsula. At first the Olympic games were used as a religious festival in honor of the ruler of gods, Zeus. After many years the Olympic games were re introduced in the 19th century, which was done to bring countries back together as one and participate in this world wide competition of olympians. The games as a whole have changed the way of how people see the athletes. In the beginning of it all, the athletes competed for their religious believes, now the race to be the best is at its highest, with the 28 sports to participate in. According to the author, the number of professional has increased by approximately 10,500 professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. David Garlands On The Concept Of Moral Panic Australia is known for its cultural consumption of alcohol, to levels such as binge drinking. The growing epidemic poses serious health risks to the affected populous as well as associations between violence, misdemeanours and binge drinking which are acts that are in violation of the law and punishable by the law (Rush 2003, p4). Which effectively justifies the public s growing concern. David Garlands article On the concept of moral panic highlights that society will always be subject to numerous forms of moral panic. The intensity and effect of the panic depends on the threat and the way it is delivered as well as by whom. • 6. Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases chronologically, delving into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each year the cap is adjusted to the change in the wage. Both the employer and employees share the equal burden in the tax i.e. 50 percent from each side out of total 12.4 percent. The second tax funds the Medicare which is 2.9 percent payroll tax and is also levied from the first dollar of income but has no cap. This tax is also divided equally between employers and ... Identity, in fact, is a changing subject that are influenced by many different experiences and circumstances. Identity is the product of varieties of sources and is hard to return to its original shape. The society and the environment that people grow up in play major roles in impacting their identity. Changes in these environments create an ever lasting changes in these identity. Identity slowly becomes concealed in order to help people better survive in their society. • 9. Midway, the Battle That Ultimately Doomed Japan in WWII... Midway, the Battle That Ultimately Doomed Japan in WWII By: John King Could a loss at Midway have cost America the Pacific, and led to WWII ending in a different way? The Battle of Midway is know as the turning point of the war in the Pacific. It turned the tables and put the United States into an offensive position. Midway was one, if not the, most important battle of World War II because of the background, strategies, battle tactics, and most importantly the outcome and effects of this battle. Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. The U.S. lost one aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington, and the USS Yorktown was severely damaged, but would make it back to port for repair. These Pacific battles were what led to the Japanese Empire trying to deliver a finishing blow to the U.S. Navy. The Japanese commander, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was in command of the Japanese Pacific Fleet. The Japanese plan was very simple. First, they would create a diversion by launching an attack on the Aleutian Islands. Then, they would send three groups of ships to Midway. One was a group of soldiers to invade the island. The second group was battleships, the heavy gun power. One of these happened to be the largest battleship in the world, the Yamato. And finally, the third group contained four big aircraft carriers and their battle task force. The carriers held a combined 248 planes. They planned to attack and destroy the U.S. base. This attack would make the U.S. send their carriers to the island to try and save the island. They would ambush the U.S. carriers and destroy them once they got there. To the Japanese, their plan was unstoppable because they had three times more ships than the U.S. and the element of surprise. Unfortunately for Japan, they made the mistake of under estimating the U.S. intelligence agency. In Pearl Harbor, where the war started, the U.S. deciphered the code the Japanese were using to communicate. They were able to learn very important details that would help incredibly in their ... The uncanny effect is ingrained not by something unfamiliar or something frightening but because it conveys something that has been lived through and exuded to the sphere of an unconscious. Freud s 1919 essay of the same name The Uncanny has been written for literary, psychoanalytic, critical, however not art purpose at all. It has erupted into aesthetics discourse (Walsh 21). Freud s thought evolves on a specific background around it, during the process of industrialization, development of the technologies from photo cinematic inventions to the mechanisms applied in war. Visual arts such as painting, motion pictures, photography were aimed at mirroring an uncovered epoch and life in it, together with the military conflict and further militarization which aligned a human being to a machine, an automaton (Freud 227), as a result these aspects threaten an ordinary, habitual way of life and trigger the inceptives of the uncanny sensations. Regardless the above mentioned foray of cutting edge machinery, Freud, nevertheless, derives the instances of sensus numinis from literary studies, namely Romantic and Gothic literature. An explanation is necessary, and it can be encountered in Foucault s own writings. Towards his later work Foucault realizes that the mechanisms of exclusion or separation (Madness and Civilization) and of surveillance or correction (Discipline and Punish), although still a way for the power of the state to exercise sovereignty over the subjects, were not the predominant mechanism of domination of the modern state. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We tried to get outside identification and we encountered that counter identification did not solve it, now we go outside them both and we encounter life; it will be appropriate to suspect that beyond life lies another big problem waiting for us. But it is even worse, for we cannot get outside of life, literally and also in Foucault s schema. And his affirmation that there is no outside of power takes a more deep meaning when we are talking about biopower. Death is the only outside. We have to work within life, resistance can only take place where power, subjections, strategies of liberations and the logic of transformations are interwoven (Revel 49). Butler in a similar vein expresses: The juridical structures of language and politics constitute the contemporary field of power; hence, there is no position outside this field, but only a critical genealogy of its own legitimating practices (GT 8). However, although she recognizes our incapacity to move outside of power, her argument is too tied to language, only one realm of life; nevertheless, she points at a crucial way of resisting power from within in the body of incoherent or discontinuous gendered beings who appear to be persons but who fail to conform to the gendered norms of cultural intelligibility by which persons are defined (23). With this notion of the incoherent and discontinuous she attacks the ideas of stability, permanence, personhood and everything that both identity and counter identity entail. The basis for these arguments is Foucault, who, in order to resist biopower, looked for modes of subjectivation that could attempt to escape the objective frame of power and allow non selfsame (non identitaire) subjectivities to emerge (Revel 47). This resistance is defined by Foucault as a way of life , meaning a mode of living (since we cannot escape biopolitics) that can generate its own possibilities, a positive resistance which not only says ... To some, the most important things in life come in a diamond embedded suitcase filled with the grand jewels of life: money, love, and leaving legacies. People seem to have one simple thought, that having money and love is the most important thing in life. However, that is not the case for Christina Rossetti. Her views on life are very realistic and matter of fact. She believes earthly gifts and human emotions are not important because none of it is permanent. She does not need money or love, and she does not care if she is remembered. Rossetti reveals what is most important to her her relationship with God, not her relationship with humanity. Rossetti displays what is important to her through her humble plea in Song . In the poem, she is neither depressed, nor joyful; she simply states what she believes. She believes that memorials and placing flowers on graves are not for the ones who are deceased, but for those they leave behind. She asks them not to show her any special attention, she will be dead and in death, one cannot feel, hear, speak, or think; therefore she will not be able to acknowledge their gestures. The major countries threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort. World War II has had the most fatalities and injuries of any war in human history, accumulating 50 million to 85 million fatalities, with most being civilians in the Soviet Union and China. World War 2 had events such as the genocide of Jews orchestrated by Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party, bombings, starvation, disease and the use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which was the first use of nuclear weapons in history. During the war the royal navy had noticed that aircraft carriers were becoming the ultimate ships for naval warfare, and that the royal navy s former naval superiority in terms of their battleships had become irrelevant. The royal navy had noticed that battleships could no longer fulfil their roles in a cost effective manner. They were too big, too expensive to build and maintain, and their crews too large. Due to this the royal navy was an early innovator in aircraft carrier design, introducing armoured flight decks, in place of the battleships. This then meant that the royal navy focused more on building aircraft carriers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Principles Qualities Of A Good Teacher In contrast, the type of inquire based approach that is taught in some of the SKE lessons at University of Sussex allows the student to understand why a method works and encourage a comprehension of the mechanics behind the steps taken to solve a problem. Personally, I have noticed that as I gain confidence in my mathematical ability, these sessions become more enjoyable. Still, to achieve confidence and be able to follow these lessons, I need to familiarize myself with a method beforehand. For me this is most effectively achieved by solving series of example problems by a given sequence of steps before embarking on a journey of understanding the reasoning behind each step. These inquiry based lessons, therefore, are most valuable when preceded by lessons with more direct instructions and teacher led demonstrations. Thus, this supports my vision that since all students have their own preferred method for learning, even if they are not aware of it, the ability to explain a topic in a number of different ways is one of the principle qualities of a good teacher. Interestingly, as part of the SKE course I was given the opportunity to spend some time in a college, observing and assisting in lessons to students that needed to retake their GSCE exams. The main method of teaching in these classes was purely instrumental, with the goal to equip the students with the knowledge to pass their GSCE exams but without any deeper understanding of the methods. No emphasis was put on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Transcendentalism In Emerson And Henry Thoreau And Emerson I did not wish to live what was not life. (Thoreau 175) Is the life you are living the one you were meant to live? Or are you caught up in the whirlwind of societal expectations, worries, and doubts? Our ability to engage with life can seemingly drown in social expectations and burdens of life, moreso now than ever. Fearing the possibility of not truly living, Henry Thoreau and Ralph Emerson spearheaded a new philosophy and way of thinking, Transcendentalism. This approach to life believes that a person can transcend the mundane and repetitive through living life fully awake, achieved by: simplifying one s life, becoming self reliant and independent, and communing with nature. Thoreau desired, to live deep and suck out the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan like as to put to rout all that was not life, (175) and the aim of one s life is to remain fully awake. Thoreau and Emerson had marginal differences in their approaches to the main facets of Transcendentalism, simplicity, self reliance, and nature. While these facets hold some value for Christians, wholeheartedly buying into this perspective can be dangerous as simplicity becomes the road to salvation rather than Christ; self reliance becomes selfish and arrogant; and nature is given God like qualities. Simple living. The ascetic lifestyle. Such a life does not even occur to most people, but for Emerson and Thoreau, simplicity facilitates a higher thought process, something necessary to be fully aware ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Hypothetical Tailing Breach In the past, the global mining industry has experienced many catastrophic breaches of the tailing dams, most recently, failure of the Mount Polley tailings dam in British Columbia in 2014. This has contributed to the publics skepticism over management and safety of oil sands tailing ponds. In an event of tailings dam breach, a huge mass of water and sediments, associated with toxic chemicals will be released, resulting in disastrous environmental and socio economic impacts. For the particular case of Alberta oil sands, PI s recent study of hypothetical tailing breaches showed that spill of tailing materials into the nearby waters (e.g., Athabasca River) will have a multi year effect on the water quality and ecosystem several hundred kilometers ... • 37. Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to vertical integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a partnership with the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming industry and, therefore, decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this would decrease cost to Netflix and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the viewer and increase customerloyalty and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved when collaborating with supply companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company when making strategic decisions. This improves the ability to effectively market products, and improves distribution of products to the consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Increased efficiency and control over quality are pros to vertical intergration for Netflix. The biggest disadvantage to vertical integration would be cost to the company. It is expensive ... • 39. The Clash of Civilizations Essay examples Ernest Hemingway stated that, In modern war ... you will die like a dog for no good reason ! Even though that is true, experts have gone further by trying to find the roots and explain why conflicts emerge in the first place. Two experts, Samuel P. Huntington and John R. Bowen, present two different approaches towards the cause of conflicts in 21st century. Although there is a difference between their approaches, both of them share the common believe that a conflict may occur when one puts pressure on the other; but the reason why this pressure takes place, varies among the two theories. In his article, The Clash of Civilizations , Huntington points out that in the 21st century, conflicts will not occur based on ideology of a state or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to this case, according to Huntington, the Western are accused by the Eastern for double standard, one standard to their kin countries and a different standard to others (373). The second key point that Huntington makes, is that the over pressure of a Western towards the non Western creates allies between different cultures on the Eastern civilization. As he stated, the divine line is not always sharp , hence civilizations may go through a cultural meltdown and states may overpass their traditional and religion values. But this overlap creates even deeper division in the foreign affairs where there are only two sides: The Western and the Rest. This was clearly evident with Arabian countries in the post Gulf War period, when they switched sides and adapted a Western policy against Sadam, who preferred an Anti Western policy. Moreover, the obstacles that are created by the Western towards the non Western, brings the non Western civilization to a cross road, where they either join the Western civilization, or create alliances among other non Western, thus competing with the West by developing their own economic, military and political power (376). For example, even though Japan is consider as an Eastern civilization, with a geographic position near the Communist country China, and feared from the Communist pressure influence that may occurred within Japan, managed to establish a unique position for itself as an associate member of the ... • 40. Self Reflection Coming into a college writing course, I did not expect it to be easy. Throughout high school essays were very easy to write due to teachers cutting way too much slack and handing out easy grades. Writing has always been difficult for me, but I feel this is because I have not been challenged yet to demonstrate my full writingability. I had yet to develop my own voice as a writer. Throughout this course, I was met with many challenges to bring out the true writer inside of me and because of this, I was ultimately able to grow as a writer. The essays that I have written throughout the WRC 1013 course demonstrate that I have developed better annotation skills, communication skills and personal responsibility skills; however, I still need to improve in proofreading and learning how to receive more revisions from my peers. After going through my essays, one self reflection throughout my papers I was able to gather was my growth in developing good annotation throughout my chosen sources. For example, in my first paper Behind the Screen VS. The Real World , my annotation and gathering information from sources was very poor. This is shown in the essay where I completely stated the opposite of what Rita Dove was trying to say in her piece Loose Ends . I state that, As you can see, this is one of many reasons as to how so much screen time can have a negative influence on people which is what Rita Dove is implying in her article ( Behind the Screen Vs.
