Ansel Adams Half Dome
I have decided to do my essay on one of Ansel Adams most famous photographs from his long
and successful career titled Half Dome. The photograph of Half Dome medium of the photograph
is black and white. Ansel Adams in my opinion is one of the greatest photographers of all time. I
believe his photographs are a work of art. Ansel Adamswas a true visual genius with a camera, he
went to a location set up his camera and the end result was always perfect. When I look at a
photograph that was taken by Ansel Adams I feel at ease. It is almost like taking a short vacation
in front of a photograph. The way Ansel Adams uses black and white in his photographs is amazing
to me. The one thing that amazes me the most about Ansel Adams is even... Show more content on

I also believe that Ansel Adams takes what he is given; I do not believe that he waits for the
clouds to show up at a current spot in the sky before he takes a picture. In the case of Half Dome
Ansel Adams is using pure straight photography meaning that when he takes a photograph he
wants to make it look as realistic as possible, this also means that Ansel Adams did not use any
kind of manipulation software to edit his pictures in any way. In the photograph of Half Dome
Ansel Adams uses no staged light sources in the photograph of Half Dome. The only light source
that is used in the photograph of Half Dome is from the setting sun, or the sun that is beginning to
set. Because of that I believe in the photograph of Half Dome Ansel Adams uses pure/straight
lighting. The pure lighting comes from the sun setting. Ansel Adams also does not use any diffuse
or direct lighting in the photograph of Half Dome. Ansel Adams uses black and white as his
medium in his photographs. Because of the white that stands out in his photograph of Half Dome, I
believe Ansel Adams uses cool colors. Ansel Adams also uses a complementary harmony in the
photograph of Half Dome, black and

Psoriasis
Most of the time when a person is nervous or sad, they become sensitive when other people are
aware of these feelings and quickly try to learn to hide their emotions. Many ways you can
determine this nervousness is a person may breathe heavily, stumble on their words, and avoid eye
contact during a presentation. All of these may be true, but the most obvious factor of nervousness
affects the body s largest organ the skin. When a person blushes, it is easily exposed that the
person is nervous. The linkage between skin and psychology plays an important factor in life and
may be the root of all acne, eczema, trichotillomania. These days, dermatologists are much more
accepting of the field now known as psychodermatology, which addresses the interaction... Show

It is a common dermatologic disorder that often goes undetected and untreated where the body
does not shed their excess skin cells, but instead the skin cells pile up on the surface of the skin,
causing thick red plaques covered with silvery scales. Psoriasis may look contagious, but it s not.
When the immune system functions properly, the system protects the body against any invaders
that might make you sick, such as bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. But in people with
psoriasis, the immune system goes into action even without these invaders. Instead, the immune
system fights the body s own tissues. Although it is a genetic condition, stress can have an
impact on the immune system as well and doctors have long suspected a link between stress and
psoriasis. According to Psychodermatology: A Guide to Understanding Common
Psychocutaneous Disorders, stress has been reported in 44% of patients prior to the initial flare
of psoriasis, and recurrent flares have been attributed to stress in up to 80% of individuals. Early
onset psoriasis before age 40 may be more easily triggered by stress than late onset disease, and
patients who self report high levels of psychologic stress may have more severe skin and joint

Importance Of Spring Festival Essay
Spring Festival Festivals and traditions are important part of human cultural. Many countries has
their special festivals and traditions: People in Thailand celebrate Water Sprinkling Festival at
April every year. They splash water to each other and believe they can start a new year with
beauty and purity; Indian splash colorful powder to each other at March to express their best
wishes; Spanish celebrate Carnival to show their love for freedom and peace. China, which is a
strong country with five thousand year history, has their own festivals as well and Spring Festival
is them. There are many unique traditions in this festival like lucky money and couplets. I believe

This festival includes knowledge and belief of Chinese for the last four thousand years. Through
celebrating this festival, people can more comprehensively understand Chinese culture,
especially for children. They can learn some knowledge about history and culture and be proud
of their country. As the same time, it offers people a chance to reunite with their family. Many
parents have to leave their children because they have to work in other places. Spring Festival is
almost the only chance that they can get along with their children face by face and enjoy the
company with their families. They can create many happy memories with their children by
playing firecrackers and telling the story behind this festival to them. Children will understand
the love and hard working from parents. It is also an important period for people to refresh their
mind and release their soul so that they have energy and passion to face new challenges next
year. Moreover, it creates a big market and promotes consumption. Before the festival, people
purchase food for reunion dinner and new clothes for their family. Firecrackers, couplets and other
festival mementos are not only essential for people to express good wishes to the new year, but
also a big market to sell

Essay On The Middle Ages
England in the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th
century to the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the
period and lack of written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ageswas a time
of tremendous historical, social and linguistic changes.
Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the
province of Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into
a number of independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and
the Normal Conquest, the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of
political power. The medieval period on England can be dated from the arrival in Kent of Anglo
Saxon troops led by the legendary Hengest and Horsa. Subsequently the Brythonic, Celtic powers
were conquered by Jutes, Angles and Saxons Germanic tribes, from the contemporary Angeln and
Jutland areas of northern Germany and mainland Denmark. ... Show more content on

From a political point of view, the Norman Conquest of England divides medieval Britain in two
distinct phases of cultural and political history. From a linguistic point of view the Norman
Conquest had only a limited effect, Old English evolving into Middle English, although the Anglo
Norman language would remain the language of those that ruled for two centuries at least, before
mingling with Middle English. At the height of pre Norman medieval English power, a single
English king ruled from the border with Scotland to the

Summary Of Don t Let Me Be Lonely By Claudia Rankine
Inequality
In the book Don t let me be lonely by Claudia Rankine, Politics, racism, and loneliness happened
to appear with several situations she mentions in her book. These topics don t just affect one
person but many because with politics a whole country can be affected by the decisions that
happen and actions. Racism also takes part of this reading with the attack of Louima by police
while being incarcerated, the attack affected him emotionally and mentally because of the abuse
he put up with. The attack not only affected Louima but the people that heard about his attack got
angry at the discrimination he faced during the time he was in jail. Loneliness can be in either
passages because when Louima was asked how it felt to be rich Louima answered that he was
only grateful to be alive he felt lonely in this situation because others were worried about how he
would spend the money instead of his health and with Princess Diana the people were weeping
because they loved her and losing her impacted the people, in my opinion they were lost and
confused about who would be there for them.
When reading Don t let me be lonely by Claudia Rankine. The passage I came across on was
(Rankine 39) the way people mourned for Princess Diana and how they addressed their grief
towards her death was the way that I ve have mostly commonly seen which would show people
weeping and being there for one another. The citizens would leave flowers and candles on the
palace to show respect and

Would you like to have the US drill near your community? The United States is planning to drill
for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) located in Alaska. Being a US citizen I
believe we should not drill for oil in Alaska because it would affect the economy, the
environment, and the Alaskans. Drilling for oil in ANWR can be beneficial in some ways, but
this is why it is unreliable. Of course the cost of the drilling should already be making you agree
with me, but just in case here is some real information. A study from the US Energy Agency

Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT)
Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is derived from the mesenchymal precursor cell which also seems to
give rise to muscle . BATis located mainly around the neck, paravertebral sites, kidneys and large
blood vessels of the thorax. As previously mentioned above, Marcus (1988), demonstrated that TSH
induced lipolysis in BAT from newborns and infants but this declined with age. Recent studies have
profiled different layers of BAT in adults, particularly in the neck and between the shoulder blades
(Nedergaard, 2013). BAT contains multilocular lipid droplets and a high mitochondrial content. Its
primary function is to liberate energy as heat via the consumption of stored energy. This is
mediated by the uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp 1), which embeds in the inner mitochondrial membrane
and produces heat by dissipating the proton electrochemical gradient over the inner mitochondrial
membrane space without generating ATP. The energy in BAT? is stored as perilipin coated lipid
droplets and glycogen granules. Upon temperature stimulation glucose and fatty acid uptake is
rapidly increased to replenish its supplies (reviewed in Sanchez Gurmaches, 2013).
BRITE adipose tissue occurs within WAT tissue depots, in response to chronic cold exposure.
Beige adipose tissue has the characteristics of both white and brown adipocytes. They appear to be
like WAT in basal states but upon cold stimulation, they behave like BAT by becoming multilocular
and expressing the brown fat marker UCP1. However, they are

The War Of The Civil War
The most successful war seldom pays for its losses, said Thomas Jefferson. On the eve of the
American Civil War, a struggle whose death toll surpassed 600,000 troops, it is easy to imagine
that many citizens would have agreed with the founding father. And, loss of life was not the only
problem caused by the fight. In the wake of the Civil War, Americans of all races faced the
assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, crippling personal debt, ambiguity regarding the
redistribution of southern land, and a divisive political conflict over which branch of the federal
government processes the most authority. However, a litany of problems also served as impetus for
the American Civil Warwith slavery, disagreement regarding division of new territory, dispute
over the precedence of federal or state government, and the overarching inability of politicians to
compromise topping the list. When examining the merit of the Civil War, the question becomes:
Did the Civil War create more problems than it solved? No. When compared side by side, a list
of post war problems may be longer, but the Civil War ended the country s practice of slavery.
Slavery is the egregious and eternally unjustifiable act of keeping human beings as belongings and
forcing them into labor. Slavery is evil. The American Civil War freed slaves, making it a struggle
of exceptional merit and benefit.
The first problem great problem to follow the Civil War came four days after the surrender of the

INTRODUCTION 3.1 Project Details: WHAT IS JDK? пѓ The Java Development Kit (JDK) is a
software development environment used for developing Java applications and applets. It includes
the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), an interpreter/loader (java), a compiler (javac), an archiver
(jar), a documentation generator (javadoc) and other tools needed in Java development. WHY JDK
SELECTED ? пѓ IT IS OPEN SOURCE : one perk of using an open source system is that you do
not have to pay any money for it. whereas some closed source systems will sap you for cash, there
are bigger advantages to using open source software like jdk. пѓ EASE OF USE: Some things
may be difficult to figure out; thankfully JDK is not one of those things. The coding language is
simple which means that it is easy to learn even without prior programming knowledge.
пѓ DYNAMIC WEB PAGES : There is posting, photo browsing, a search bar, liking and
commenting options, etc. Each of these functions could be served by JDK, but gains a technical
advantage due to its compatibility with C++. JDK has been described by users to be a dynamic

The Baroque Period Of Music
Unlike the Baroque period of music with its flourish and embellishments, the Classical period of
music had a more structured and formal format to its music. Music of this time period, which
lasted from 1750 to 1820, is distinguishable by its high spirited and fast paced style. The most
popular forms of musicat this time were sonatas, symphonies, and string quartets. Although opera
was still immensely enjoyed, it did not maintain the stamina it had gained in the Baroque period.
Advances were being made in concertos, pieces where a soloist played the main melody while
accompanied by an orchestra, and also gained popularity. Also the piano was being used more and

22 in E flat, Third Movement. This piece demonstrates the classical model of structure and fluidity.
The pianist gracefully moves through the pieces with recurring themes playing trills and cadenzas.
The second man who defined the Classical period and also began the Romantic period of music
was Ludwig van Beethoven. Born and raised in Solzburg, Germany, Beethoven was also an
accomplished musician at a young age. However it was not under the caring supervision that
Mozart s father granted, but the harsh beating of Beethoven s father who would treat him
violently during music lessons after coming home late from a night of drinking at a tavern.
Despite this, Beethoven s passion for music was not diminished and he moved to Vienna at age
22 where after Mozart himself praised Beethoven s skills as a musician. In Vienna, he became
very popular for his emotional works of art. Composing did not come as naturally to Beethoven as
he was very self critical and would spend months dwelling on one piece. Additionally, he was not a
very personable man as he was passionate, emotional, and temperamental. These personality traits
showed through his music and were only increased when he became deaf. But he did not let it
inhibit his composing skills. Beethoven s Symphony No 5, First Movement clearly depicted his
frustration at the onset deafness that he had developed. This piece is one of his most famous as it
is unpredictable and emotional. Eventually, in 1817, he had

For many Hindu s in the world, carving sacred images and figurines was an art form in itself. This

Hindu religion, which is evident in sculptures and architecture.
Hindus believe art is a very important aspect of salvation. Art is the ultimate release that is

In Hindu temples the three exterior walls are sculpted with images that show aspects of the deity

temple walls can show foliage, pictures of women, or mithumas, which love couples.

Economic Integration Is Defined As An Economic Adjustment
Economic integration is defined as an economic disposition between different divisions that are
associated together through the synchronisation of fiscal and monetary policies as well as the
reduction or elimination of barriers to entry for trading. The sole aims of economic integration are
to succour both consumers and producers, by minimising costs, and also to maximise trade between
the countries which are involved.
In total, there are 8 stages in the economic integration operation, starting from a highly loose
alliance of countries in a preferential trade area, to a completely economically integrated coalition,
whereby all the economies of the member countries in the union are thoroughly integrated. The first

The EU is also a politico economic union comprising of 28 different countries as of 2013 that are
located primarily in Europe.
The United Kingdom has long been a part of European Union, since 1973, and the European Union
membership has always had a strong influence on the United Kingdom s economy in numerous
ways. The effects which are most important emerges through a programme of economic
integration in which EU s four freedoms the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital
and people are reassured, known as the Single Market. The impact of EU s membership to the UK
is not only felt in the economic sector, but can also be felt in the areas of its policies too.
First and foremost, the most fundamental economic benefit that the United Kingdom experiences
would be the positive effect of free movement of goods and services across and between European
countries. The free movement of their goods and services should be able to prompt and increase
its trade, with the barriers of entry being stripped away. Theoretically, all Member States in the
European Union are able to benefit from this because it grants them the opportunity to specialise in
those goods and services that they are proportionately more coherent at producing.
Furthermore, domestic producers

Characteristics Of Martin Luther King Jr. And Adolf Hitler
Before this semester I always knew there were many characteristics and deferent types of
leaders. Typically when I thought of a leader, I would think of a team leader. A leader that
involves the creation of a vivid picture of its goals, where it is heading and what it will stand for.
The vision inspires and provides a strong sense of purpose and direction. In the easy sense when I
thought of a leader I would think of a quarterback for a football team, commander in the army, and
or a bossof a company. I also knew there was a visionary leader because that s what type of leader I
am. When I think of whose a good leader I think of two people, Martin Luther King Jr. and Adolf
Hitler. These two people were two totally different leaders but they were both great leaders.
Martin Luther Kind JR. led the Civil Rights movements in the United States. He used
nonviolent, or peaceful, protest to try to get equal rights for African Americans. He aroused
white and black alike to protest racial discrimination, poverty, and war. He would give amazing
speeches such as I have a dream in front of 250,000 people. Hitler was a good leader but
obviously was a terrible person. Hitler turned hundred of thousands of people into Nazis. Some key
areas that Hitler was good at was his vision, change management, compassion, charisma, and
develop the team and making the team better.

Enterprise Resource Planning ( Erp ) Systems Attempt
Introduction
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems attempt to combine data and processes in
organizations. The data is centralized as a single database. This database functions as a hub that
stores, shares, and circulates data from within the different organizational units and business
functions. ERP systems are one of the most adopted information technology (IT) solutions in
organizations. Besides the possible cost savings, one of the main drivers for an ERP adoption
would be the technical and operation integration of business functions to complement the

Essay on Compare and Contrast Two Leadership Styles
Leadership can be defined as the ability to lead a group of people successfully in an organization.
Hall, et al (2008) have mentioned that an effective leader has to be visionary, motivating and
responsible in order to successfully run a business organization. In business the two key leadership
styles, which are widely used in today s corporate world are autocratic leadershipand democratic
leadership (Johnson, n.d.). Autocratic leadership may be explained as a leadership style where the
manager sets objectives, allocates tasks and insists on obedience (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 401).
Conversely, democratic leadership encourages participation in decision making (Hall, et al 2008
p.g 402). Whilst many people would consider autocratic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leader must be able to explain ideas clearly to employees and understand any feedback they
receive (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 402). Though rate of production with a democratic style of leadership
might be slower than in an autocratic due to low supervision, it could be disputed that workers can
work more freely as there is less stress to perform.
A further aspect of leadership, which can also be believed to have a direct link with communication,
is decision making. Both leadership styles are similar in the way that ideas need to be stored
before making a business decision. In an autocratic work place decisions are made independently
with little or no input from the rest of the group (Riley, 2012 n.p.). However, in a democratic
society employees have greater involvement in decision making (Riley, 2012 n.p.). Both these
types of leadership have their benefits and disadvantages with respect to decision making. In his
research on different types of leadership, Joseph, (n.d.) stated that autocratic leadership style could
be effective in a business environment as decisions can be made quickly without consulting with
workers. According to Cherry, (n.d.) this type of leadership would be advantageous in situations
such as the military where decisions need to be taken quickly. Though quick decision making can
be beneficial, it could be argued that it can lead to a demotivated workforce. Employees motivation

A Research Study On Conservation Genetics
Introduction
Conservation genetics is actually a recent evolutionary theory and practise of genetics on
species in order to reduce their risk of extinction. Some relevant studies improve the role of
conservation genetics in specific type of species. There are so many long lived species
worldwide, either amphibians or mammals which nowadays are limited and also distributed in
certain areas. Most of them can be found into small, fragmented isolated populations due to
pollution, invasion of exotic species, over exploitation and most important due to habitat loss
(Frankham et al 1999). Their amazing long life span shows both advantages and disadvantages.
More living diverse species means more stable ecosystem and regular flow of the food ... Show

Bears
The carnivorous Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos L.) is a North American subspecies of the brown
bear and is nowadays the most widely distributed ursid. Nielsen et al (2006), likens the Grizzly
bears as keystone species suitable for discovering conservation habitat modelling from a survival
and occupancy framework. During the past century their population have declined noticeably
throughout much of North America, mainly due to susceptibility from low density, high trophic
level, low reproductive rates and late maturation. Also, the increased illegal human access causes
the mortality of most of the grizzly bears. Their demographies has also been changed; the brown
bear in the lower 48 states has been reduced to 1% of its original area. The estimated population
size has fallen from 100,000 in the early 19th century to 1000 in 1986 (Waits et al 1998).

African American Communities Case Study
Environmental disasters are often pushed into regions with a higher rate of marginalized groups;
relating to class, gender, and race. The dangerous environmental issues that these groups face hinder
their process in the fight for equality, oppressing them and hurting the environment even more.
Areas with a higher black population are forced into poverty for various reasons that African
Americancommunities with environmental problems are forced into poverty and forced into
having more health problems as a result. The town of Convent, Louisiana had an 83.7% African
American population, with a rate of 2,277 lbs. of air pollution produced per person annually,

The chemical plants were being placed in Convent because they already had a high rate of
pollution the general consensus between the corporations and the government being that it
makes more sense to put them into a town that already has astronomical rates of pollution than
putting them in one that doesn t have issues with it. Convent was known for being a town that
had a rate of higher poverty (CITE SOME SHIT), which made it easier to build the chemical
plants there. Media and general public tend to care less about health and environmental issues
when a town lives in poverty, so it was harder for the townsfolk to gain awareness for the
corporations they were fighting against. This is still evident in places such as Flint, Michigan,
where the residents are being forced to drink water that has highly elevated levels of iron and
lead. Media attention was high for a while, but soon Flint faded out of the spotlight, being left
with lead and iron poisoned water. In the city of Flint, 40% of the population lives below the
poverty line, and has a majority black population. (CITE CNN ARTICLE). This contrasts with the

Invasive Species Invasive Species
An organism that is non native to an ecosystem can be defined as an invasive species. Animals,
plants, and fungi can all be considered invasive, exotic, or alien species if they are not originally
from that habitat. These intruders alter the pathways of native organisms by competitive exclusion,
niche displacement, hybridization, introgression predation, and in severe cases extinction (Mooney
2001). Invasive speciescan severely and adversely affect populations of native species. Foreign
organisms can be studied around the globe and dedicated ecologists have the responsibility of
studying how these non native species are impacting ecosystems. There are many ways that a
species may become introduced into a new ecosystem. Human activity has long played a role in
the translocation of many types of plants and animals. Throughout time humans have transported
species across land, sea, and sky for recreational purposes, medicinal purposes, and aesthetic
purposes. Though the human species is largely responsible for species translocation, we are not
the only cause. Abiotic forces like the wind and sea play a large role in transporting various
organisms and seeds to new and far lands. Not all introduced speciesare bad and some have proven
to be quite beneficial to new ecosystems. Though there are beneficial introduced species, more tend
to hurt existing ecosystems rather than help it. When introduced species exploit a specific species
trait or fill a vacant niche in an

Evaluate the Role of Chemical Transmitters in Explaining Behavioural Disorders
All behaviour is provided by the nervous system from a blinking eye to talking. Everything we do
relies on the integration of numerous processes within the body, which is controlled by the nervous
system (Atkinson et al. 1990). It wasn t until the late 19th Century with the development of stronger
magnifying lenses and staining techniques that the nervous system could be looked at in detail
(Wickens, 2005). The integrating units of the nervous system are specialized cells called neurons.
There are approximately 1 billion neurons in a human brain. What makes them more astonishing is
that each single neuron is connected with around 10,000 others (Wickens, ... Show more content on

Furthermore Parkinson s disease, which is associated with a depletion of dopamine display
behaviours characteristic of schizophrenia when given too much L DOPA, a dopamine stimulant
(Gershon, Angrist, and Shopsin, 1977 as cited in Kalat, 1992). In addition if schizophrenics are
given drugs such as L DOPA their symptoms are heightened. (Kalat, 1992).
On the other hand there are problems with the dopamine hypothesis, as it suggests that
schizophrenics have an excess of dopamine in their brains. Deakin, 1988, as cites in Wickens,
2005, found little evidence for this following post mortems of schizophrenics. However a
number of studies have found that schizophrenics have an increase of dopamine D 2 receptors
(Jaskiw and Kleinman, 1988 as cited in Wickens, 2005) therefore it may be that increased uptake
by receptors is responsible rather than an excess of dopamine. This gives rise to cause and effect,
as is the schizophrenia caused by an increased number of receptors or is the increased number of
receptors a result of antipsychotic drugs.
The main criticism of an imbalance of neurotransmitters being the cause of schizophrenia is the
finding that antipsychotics block receptors within a day or two, although it takes several weeks for
them to take full affect (Wickens, 2005). This suggests that the key factor in improvement is not the

The figurative language both of the poets use shows a difference in their views of death; one poet
uses figurative language to fight against death, while the other uses figurative language to show
that death is unavoidable. In Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night Thomas describes death as
something that can be fought when he says Rage. Rage against the dying of the light. He uses

The Effects Of Violent Media On Children And Youth
Essentially since media is more violent than ever, and children and youth are getting more
attracted to violent media. Studies on violent media shows a clear evidence that violence on media
rises the possibility of aggressive behaviors in both short term and long term situations (Rowell
Huesmann, Moise, Podolski, Eron, 2003). Most researchers agree that aggressive behaviors are
more disposed to the harmful impact of violenceon media. The negative effect is much larger for
younger children because they are not able to to differentiate the imaginary from reality. In
addition, Bushman (1995) argued that only particular type of children and youth were negatively
influenced by violent media these are labelled as high aggressive personalities. Aggressive minded
individuals fascinate by aggressionmore than non aggressive personalites. Children who heavily
exposure to violent media are more likely to act in an aggressive way toward others. Violent media
is a risk factor that put children and youth in a high risk of developing aggressive behaviors that
may last into their adulthood (Rowell Huesmann, Moise, Podolski, Eron, (2003). Therefore, parents
have wanted to understand the negative impact of violent media, particularly on children,
adolescents, and youth. Thus, this paper underlines some negative effects of violent media on
individuals.

Abraham Lincoln Qualities
In temper, he was earnest, yet controlled, frank, yet sufficiently guarded, patient, yet energetic,
forgiving, yet just to himself; generous yet firm, wrote J. T. Duryea of the U.S. Christian
Commission, which met frequently with President Abraham Lincoln. His conscience was the
strongest element of his nature. His affections were tender warm. His whole nature was simple and
sincere he was pure, and then was himself. (Guelzo) Abraham Lincolnwas possibly considered the
best US President, as he was able to successfully communicate his goals and his vision, he was
honest, and he was resilient.
One of the key traits for a leader, is to be able to successfully communicate their goals and
visions, in order to explain how things are supposed to change. You have to be able to explain
what you want in order for it to be carried out and accepted. This was a trait held by Abraham
Lincoln, our 16th president, who held office from March 1861 to his assassination in April 1865.
Kearns Goodwin stated that Lincoln had a remarkable ability to communicate his goals to his
countrymen. He made concepts simple and communicated with an understanding of the concerns of
the citizens. (Moreton) Lincoln wished to bring the country together after the way ended, focusing
on healing the nation, rather than hold grudges, and continue to fight with malice, as addressed in
his second inaugural speech. Lincoln spent many hours in the White House telegraph office
communicating with military and state government leaders. He could be found routinely visiting
the battle fields to confer with leaders and talk to groups of soldiers, conveying his strategy to
insure clarity and alignment. All of his speeches, oral and written, conferences with his cabinet, and
meetings with Congressional groups were all designed for him to listen, learn and reinforce his
positions.
Another key trait that Lincoln possessed was honesty. People, who are naturally skeptical to the
government, enjoy being able to put their trust in someone and count that their interest is in helping
them rather than lying for their own benefit. It allows for trust in the government and trust helps to
stifle internal troubles. I hain t been caught lying yet, and I don t

The Success Of A Company
INTRODUCTION
Defining a successful organisations is a difficult task with a lot of variables that have to be
considered. The outcome of a company s strategies targeting to achieve specific goals cannot
always be translated and be acknowledged as being successful. This paper is focusing on what
success is for a company, the different areas that a company can achieve success, regarding the
goals that are set, and through Coca Cola s sustainability report will try to demonstrate which and
how performance indicators are used to form a successful organisation.
DEFINE SUCCESS
To define or measure success, firstly the organisational purpose must be decided. The purpose of
a company is not always to become more profitable. Profit provides the organisation with the
capability to compensate stakeholder s expectations. As the corporations operates within society it
should be also be concerned with societal issues and become more social responsible. Many argue
that, financial success of an organisation benefits society, by providing new placements, upgrading
the status of the area they operate and paying more taxes accordingly to their profit. As Milton
Friedman argues, the purpose of an organisation is to maximize profit, and through the company s
financial success show social responsibility, as society can also be benefit from it. Therefore
employees should focus their efforts according to the owners interests and not acting in the interest
of someone other like society.

The Cash Flow Of The Free Cash Flows ( Fcf )
Firm Valuation
As shown in Exhibit 4, in order to value a company we first started by calculating the free cash
flows (FCF) year by year. In order to do so, we decided to use the forecasted revenue numbers from
Capital IQ and calculate all the other metrics by using the trends we saw in last three years
(Exhibit 3). The company can allocate free cash flow in several ways, including but not limited to:
repurchasing stock, reinvesting for growth and paying out dividends.
After calculating the free cash flows, we had to calculate the terminal value of the company.
Doing so required us to estimate a terminal growth rate. We decided that 3.1% growth rate was
suitable for Kimberly Clark. This rate was integrated by 2% expected inflation growth per year
in the US (Federal Reserve), in addition with a 1.1% expected growth of the population (World O
Meters). As a team we believe that since KMB is in a personal care industry, it can be perceived
as a commodity, thus the population growth should directly affect our sales. Necessary goods will
still have relevance in the future.
After terminal value was calculated, we proceeded by valuing KMB using the entity approach.
As shown in the Exhibit 5, the value of the assets is $55,128.44. This was calculated by
discounting all the unlevered cash flows and the terminal value by our WACC of 6.8257%. For
the total value of debt we used the market value of $7064.3 million. After the value of the equity
was calculated, we got the implied debt

not all explorers of the Pacific Northwest were sailors, all of them deserve to be honored because of
the contribution their expeditions made to WA. The first non Indians that came to the Pacific

European explorers and later, American explorers who traveled for many reasons like to find the

famous explorers of the Pacific Northwest include Lewis Clark, who were sent by Thomas

Herbert Hoover is one of America s most forgotten presidents and is at the bottom of the list

Definitions Paper
What are creativity, innovation, and design, and how are these concepts important to meeting the
objectives of an organization? To understand these concepts they must first be defined. Webster s
dictionary (http://www.merriam webster.com) defines creativity as the Ability to produce
something new through imaginative skill, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or
device, or a new artistic objects or form. The term generally refers to a richness of ideas and
originality of thinking. Psychological studies of highly creative people have shown that many have

New sciences have also contributed to technology, as in the theoretical preparation for the invention
of the steam engine. In the 20th century, innovations in semiconductor technology increased the
performance and decreased the cost of electronic materials and devices by a factor of a million, an
achievement unparalleled in the history of any technology.
I would define innovation as the ability to apply this creative thinking to an existing product,
solution or approach that improves the outcome of a solution to a problem or usefulness of a
product. Innovation is the ability to put creative thoughts to use in a way that is beneficial to a
person, product, object, problem or situation. .
Design is defined by Webster as to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to plan; to
conceive and plan out in the mind; to have as a purpose; to devise for a specific function or end; to
conceive or execute a plan; or to draw, lay out, or prepare a design.
I would define design as taking these creative thoughts and ideas, or applying an innovative concept,
and putting them into a plan of action. Design is the point at which creativity and innovation
become a useful part of a solution. It is the ability to take creative thoughts and manifest them into
a tangible object or cohesive solution, and incorporate that into a plan of action to solve a

Cause And Effect Essay On Climate Change
What is climate change? Climate change is the seasonal changes for a period of time in the world.
These climate patterns play an important role in shaping natural ecosystems, and the human
economies and cultures that depend on them. The changes in climate can affect how people, plants
and animal live, such as food production and health risks. The world is now worried about the
changes that are occurring today and how it has been speeding up and seriously affecting human s
lives. In 2007, scientists from the International Panel on ClimateChange (IPCC) predicted that
warming oceans and melting glaciers due to global warmingand climate changecould cause sea
levels to rise 7 23 inches by the year 2100. Have you ever noticed how the Earth s temperature
has been rising over these past years? In the future, climate change will have a significant impact
on every aspect of our daily lives. The climate changes in our Earth are affecting our lives
psychologically, physically and emotionally. Most of these climate changes are due to small
variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy the planet receives

  • 2. Ansel Adams Half Dome I have decided to do my essay on one of Ansel Adams most famous photographs from his long and successful career titled Half Dome. The photograph of Half Dome medium of the photograph is black and white. Ansel Adams in my opinion is one of the greatest photographers of all time. I believe his photographs are a work of art. Ansel Adamswas a true visual genius with a camera, he went to a location set up his camera and the end result was always perfect. When I look at a photograph that was taken by Ansel Adams I feel at ease. It is almost like taking a short vacation in front of a photograph. The way Ansel Adams uses black and white in his photographs is amazing to me. The one thing that amazes me the most about Ansel Adams is even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also believe that Ansel Adams takes what he is given; I do not believe that he waits for the clouds to show up at a current spot in the sky before he takes a picture. In the case of Half Dome Ansel Adams is using pure straight photography meaning that when he takes a photograph he wants to make it look as realistic as possible, this also means that Ansel Adams did not use any kind of manipulation software to edit his pictures in any way. In the photograph of Half Dome Ansel Adams uses no staged light sources in the photograph of Half Dome. The only light source that is used in the photograph of Half Dome is from the setting sun, or the sun that is beginning to set. Because of that I believe in the photograph of Half Dome Ansel Adams uses pure/straight lighting. The pure lighting comes from the sun setting. Ansel Adams also does not use any diffuse or direct lighting in the photograph of Half Dome. Ansel Adams uses black and white as his medium in his photographs. Because of the white that stands out in his photograph of Half Dome, I believe Ansel Adams uses cool colors. Ansel Adams also uses a complementary harmony in the photograph of Half Dome, black and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a common dermatologic disorder that often goes undetected and untreated where the body does not shed their excess skin cells, but instead the skin cells pile up on the surface of the skin, causing thick red plaques covered with silvery scales. Psoriasis may look contagious, but it s not. When the immune system functions properly, the system protects the body against any invaders that might make you sick, such as bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. But in people with psoriasis, the immune system goes into action even without these invaders. Instead, the immune system fights the body s own tissues. Although it is a genetic condition, stress can have an impact on the immune system as well and doctors have long suspected a link between stress and psoriasis. According to Psychodermatology: A Guide to Understanding Common Psychocutaneous Disorders, stress has been reported in 44% of patients prior to the initial flare of psoriasis, and recurrent flares have been attributed to stress in up to 80% of individuals. Early onset psoriasis before age 40 may be more easily triggered by stress than late onset disease, and patients who self report high levels of psychologic stress may have more severe skin and joint ... Essay On The Middle Ages England in the Middle Ages The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th century to the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the period and lack of written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ageswas a time of tremendous historical, social and linguistic changes. Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the province of Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into a number of independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and the Normal Conquest, the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of political power. • 7. Summary Of Don t Let Me Be Lonely By Claudia Rankine Inequality In the book Don t let me be lonely by Claudia Rankine, Politics, racism, and loneliness happened to appear with several situations she mentions in her book. These topics don t just affect one person but many because with politics a whole country can be affected by the decisions that happen and actions. Racism also takes part of this reading with the attack of Louima by police while being incarcerated, the attack affected him emotionally and mentally because of the abuse he put up with. The attack not only affected Louima but the people that heard about his attack got angry at the discrimination he faced during the time he was in jail. Loneliness can be in either passages because when Louima was asked how it felt to be rich Louima answered that he was only grateful to be alive he felt lonely in this situation because others were worried about how he would spend the money instead of his health and with Princess Diana the people were weeping because they loved her and losing her impacted the people, in my opinion they were lost and confused about who would be there for them. When reading Don t let me be lonely by Claudia Rankine. The passage I came across on was (Rankine 39) the way people mourned for Princess Diana and how they addressed their grief towards her death was the way that I ve have mostly commonly seen which would show people weeping and being there for one another. Drilling for oil in ANWR can be beneficial in some ways, but this is why it is unreliable. Of course the cost of the drilling should already be making you agree with me, but just in case here is some real information. A study from the US Energy Agency (March 2004) shows it would reduce US imports by 4%... states the Arctic Wildlife Organization (Document C). Recent studies have profiled different layers of BAT in adults, particularly in the neck and between the shoulder blades (Nedergaard, 2013). BAT contains multilocular lipid droplets and a high mitochondrial content. Its primary function is to liberate energy as heat via the consumption of stored energy. This is mediated by the uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp 1), which embeds in the inner mitochondrial membrane and produces heat by dissipating the proton electrochemical gradient over the inner mitochondrial membrane space without generating ATP. The energy in BAT? is stored as perilipin coated lipid droplets and glycogen granules. Upon temperature stimulation glucose and fatty acid uptake is rapidly increased to replenish its supplies (reviewed in Sanchez Gurmaches, 2013). BRITE adipose tissue occurs within WAT tissue depots, in response to chronic cold exposure. Beige adipose tissue has the characteristics of both white and brown adipocytes. They appear to be like WAT in basal states but upon cold stimulation, they behave like BAT by becoming multilocular and expressing the brown fat marker UCP1. However, they are ... • 10. The War Of The Civil War The most successful war seldom pays for its losses, said Thomas Jefferson. On the eve of the American Civil War, a struggle whose death toll surpassed 600,000 troops, it is easy to imagine that many citizens would have agreed with the founding father. And, loss of life was not the only problem caused by the fight. In the wake of the Civil War, Americans of all races faced the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, crippling personal debt, ambiguity regarding the redistribution of southern land, and a divisive political conflict over which branch of the federal government processes the most authority. However, a litany of problems also served as impetus for the American Civil Warwith slavery, disagreement regarding division of new territory, dispute over the precedence of federal or state government, and the overarching inability of politicians to compromise topping the list. When examining the merit of the Civil War, the question becomes: Did the Civil War create more problems than it solved? No. When compared side by side, a list of post war problems may be longer, but the Civil War ended the country s practice of slavery. Slavery is the egregious and eternally unjustifiable act of keeping human beings as belongings and forcing them into labor. Slavery is evil. The American Civil War freed slaves, making it a struggle of exceptional merit and benefit. The first problem great problem to follow the Civil War came four days after the surrender of the Confederate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, he was not a very personable man as he was passionate, emotional, and temperamental. These personality traits showed through his music and were only increased when he became deaf. Hall, et al (2008) have mentioned that an effective leader has to be visionary, motivating and responsible in order to successfully run a business organization. In business the two key leadership styles, which are widely used in today s corporate world are autocratic leadershipand democratic leadership (Johnson, n.d.). Autocratic leadership may be explained as a leadership style where the manager sets objectives, allocates tasks and insists on obedience (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 401). A further aspect of leadership, which can also be believed to have a direct link with communication, is decision making. Both leadership styles are similar in the way that ideas need to be stored before making a business decision. In an autocratic work place decisions are made independently with little or no input from the rest of the group (Riley, 2012 n.p.). However, in a democratic society employees have greater involvement in decision making (Riley, 2012 n.p.). Both these types of leadership have their benefits and disadvantages with respect to decision making. In his research on different types of leadership, Joseph, (n.d.) stated that autocratic leadership style could be effective in a business environment as decisions can be made quickly without consulting with workers. According to Cherry, (n.d.) this type of leadership would be advantageous in situations such as the military where decisions need to be taken quickly. Though quick decision making can be beneficial, it could be argued that it can lead to a demotivated workforce. Employees motivation decreases ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Animals, plants, and fungi can all be considered invasive, exotic, or alien species if they are not originally from that habitat. These intruders alter the pathways of native organisms by competitive exclusion, niche displacement, hybridization, introgression predation, and in severe cases extinction (Mooney 2001). Invasive speciescan severely and adversely affect populations of native species. Foreign organisms can be studied around the globe and dedicated ecologists have the responsibility of studying how these non native species are impacting ecosystems. There are many ways that a species may become introduced into a new ecosystem. Human activity has long played a role in the translocation of many types of plants and animals. Throughout time humans have transported species across land, sea, and sky for recreational purposes, medicinal purposes, and aesthetic purposes. Though the human species is largely responsible for species translocation, we are not the only cause. Abiotic forces like the wind and sea play a large role in transporting various organisms and seeds to new and far lands. This gives rise to cause and effect, as is the schizophrenia caused by an increased number of receptors or is the increased number of receptors a result of antipsychotic drugs. The main criticism of an imbalance of neurotransmitters being the cause of schizophrenia is the finding that antipsychotics block receptors within a day or two, although it takes several weeks for them to take full affect (Wickens, 2005). Most researchers agree that aggressive behaviors are more disposed to the harmful impact of violenceon media. The negative effect is much larger for younger children because they are not able to to differentiate the imaginary from reality. In addition, Bushman (1995) argued that only particular type of children and youth were negatively influenced by violent media these are labelled as high aggressive personalities. (Guelzo) Abraham Lincolnwas possibly considered the best US President, as he was able to successfully communicate his goals and his vision, he was honest, and he was resilient. One of the key traits for a leader, is to be able to successfully communicate their goals and visions, in order to explain how things are supposed to change. You have to be able to explain what you want in order for it to be carried out and accepted. This was a trait held by Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, who held office from March 1861 to his assassination in April 1865. Kearns Goodwin stated that Lincoln had a remarkable ability to communicate his goals to his countrymen. He made concepts simple and communicated with an understanding of the concerns of the citizens. (Moreton) Lincoln wished to bring the country together after the way ended, focusing on healing the nation, rather than hold grudges, and continue to fight with malice, as addressed in his second inaugural speech. Lincoln spent many hours in the White House telegraph office communicating with military and state government leaders. He could be found routinely visiting the battle fields to confer with leaders and talk to groups of soldiers, conveying his strategy to insure clarity and alignment. All of his speeches, oral and written, conferences with his cabinet, and meetings with Congressional groups were all designed for him to listen, learn and reinforce his positions. Another key trait that Lincoln possessed was honesty. People, who are naturally skeptical to the government, enjoy being able to put their trust in someone and count that their interest is in helping them rather than lying for their own benefit. It allows for trust in the government and trust helps to stifle internal troubles. I hain t been caught lying yet, and I don t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Success Of A Company INTRODUCTION Defining a successful organisations is a difficult task with a lot of variables that have to be considered. The outcome of a company s strategies targeting to achieve specific goals cannot always be translated and be acknowledged as being successful. This paper is focusing on what success is for a company, the different areas that a company can achieve success, regarding the goals that are set, and through Coca Cola s sustainability report will try to demonstrate which and how performance indicators are used to form a successful organisation. DEFINE SUCCESS To define or measure success, firstly the organisational purpose must be decided. The purpose of a company is not always to become more profitable. Profit provides the organisation with the capability to compensate stakeholder s expectations. As the corporations operates within society it should be also be concerned with societal issues and become more social responsible. Many argue that, financial success of an organisation benefits society, by providing new placements, upgrading the status of the area they operate and paying more taxes accordingly to their profit. As Milton Friedman argues, the purpose of an organisation is to maximize profit, and through the company s financial success show social responsibility, as society can also be benefit from it. Therefore employees should focus their efforts according to the owners interests and not acting in the interest of someone other like society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Cash Flow Of The Free Cash Flows ( Fcf ) Firm Valuation As shown in Exhibit 4, in order to value a company we first started by calculating the free cash flows (FCF) year by year. In order to do so, we decided to use the forecasted revenue numbers from Capital IQ and calculate all the other metrics by using the trends we saw in last three years (Exhibit 3). The company can allocate free cash flow in several ways, including but not limited to: repurchasing stock, reinvesting for growth and paying out dividends. After calculating the free cash flows, we had to calculate the terminal value of the company. Doing so required us to estimate a terminal growth rate. We decided that 3.1% growth rate was suitable for Kimberly Clark. This rate was integrated by 2% expected inflation growth per year in the US (Federal Reserve), in addition with a 1.1% expected growth of the population (World O Meters). As a team we believe that since KMB is in a personal care industry, it can be perceived as a commodity, thus the population growth should directly affect our sales. Necessary goods will still have relevance in the future. After terminal value was calculated, we proceeded by valuing KMB using the entity approach. As shown in the Exhibit 5, the value of the assets is $55,128.44. This was calculated by discounting all the unlevered cash flows and the terminal value by our WACC of 6.8257%. For the total value of debt we used the market value of $7064.3 million. After the value of the equity was calculated, we got the implied debt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Argumentative Speech About Hawaiians How are you doing? I m doing okay. I m sorry for not sending you a letter sooner, but the days have been super busy lately. I have gotten ill on the journey to Hawaii, but luckily the illness went away shortly after we arrived. My body figure has noticeably gotten skinnier from my usual buff posture because of famine during the voyage. I also haven t been able to trim my hair, so now it is very long and untamable. He seems to be quite fond of us and our mission. I am currently sheltered in a hotel room provided by the king himself, Liholiho. Most of the Hawaiians have taken a liking to our way of life, too. They are quite peculiar. Can you believe that the Hawaiians wear loincloths and mini dresses on the daily? I find that to be very obnoxious and offensive. I thought that it was blatant knowledge to not show skin. Some Hawaiians, however, have tried to protest against us. Maybe they re just biased. We ll convert them soon enough. Regardless, I just wanted to inform you that so far, our mission to convert the Hawaiians has been going quite well. Their economy is a lot different from the economy that we have back in England. First of all, the Hawaiians don t have many schools. Our teachers and some of the missionaries are working with the Hawaiians to try and get schools created. Second of all, the Hawaiians have a kapusystem, which is pretty similar to our law system, but theirs is a lot more strict. Isn t it ridiculous how one of their kapu states that men and women ... Some famous explorers of the Pacific Northwest include Lewis Clark, who were sent by Thomas Jefferson, Vitus Berling, which proved that Asia America were separate continents, and Robert Gray who claimed the Oregon territory; explorers like these their expeditions helped shape Washingtoninto what it is today. Herbert Hoover Herbert Hoover is one of America s most forgotten presidents and is at the bottom of the list when it comes to polls ranking chief executives of the United States. Herbert Hoover was born on the 10th of August 1874 in West Branch, Iowa. He grew up in Oregon and was one of the first students to attend Stanford University when it opened in 1891. Hoover graduated from Stanford with a major in geology and utilized his education to start a career as a mining engineer. People do not easily remember Hoover and he is often overlooked when it comes to U.S. history textbooks. When people speak of Herbert Hoover, they most likely remember him as an economic Satan , as his Presidency occurred during the first four years of the Great Depression. Hoover served as the thirty first president of the United States from 1929 to 1933. Before becoming President, he married Lou Henry, on February 10, 1899. The couple honeymooned in China where Hoover ended up taking a job as a mining consultant. Shockingly enough, Hoover built a successful career as lead engineer for a private mining corporation that worked for the Chinese emperor. For a month of time that the Hoovers lived in China, their settlement was under heavy fire during the Boxer Rebellion. During this rebellion, Hoover helped his local community by building barricades around their city and even risked his life by saving Chinese children. I would define innovation as the ability to apply this creative thinking to an existing product, solution or approach that improves the outcome of a solution to a problem or usefulness of a product. Innovation is the ability to put creative thoughts to use in a way that is beneficial to a person, product, object, problem or situation. . Design is defined by Webster as to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to plan; to conceive and plan out in the mind; to have as a purpose; to devise for a specific function or end; to conceive or execute a plan; or to draw, lay out, or prepare a design. I would define design as taking these creative thoughts and ideas, or applying an innovative concept, and putting them into a plan of action. Design is the point at which creativity and innovation become a useful part of a solution. It is the ability to take creative thoughts and manifest them into a tangible object or cohesive solution, and incorporate that into a plan of action to solve a particular problem or take a product to market, ... • 40. Cause And Effect Essay On Climate Change What is climate change? Climate change is the seasonal changes for a period of time in the world. These climate patterns play an important role in shaping natural ecosystems, and the human economies and cultures that depend on them. The changes in climate can affect how people, plants and animal live, such as food production and health risks. The world is now worried about the changes that are occurring today and how it has been speeding up and seriously affecting human s lives. In 2007, scientists from the International Panel on ClimateChange (IPCC) predicted that warming oceans and melting glaciers due to global warmingand climate changecould cause sea levels to rise 7 23 inches by the year 2100. Have you ever noticed how the Earth s temperature has been rising over these past years? In the future, climate change will have a significant impact on every aspect of our daily lives. The climate changes in our Earth are affecting our lives psychologically, physically and emotionally. Most of these climate changes are due to small variations in Earth s orbit that change the amount of solar energy the planet receives (NASA,2017). It can cause lots of affects for the growth of crops. If icecaps melt and areas flood as it is predicted, our entire population will be forced to move to higher ground. All these massive hurricanes for example, hurricane Harvey in Texas, are a great demonstration of how we are putting are planet in danger. The disappointing thing about all this topic ...
