Theban Trilogy, Oedipus At Colonus By Sophocles
Thousands of years after its origin, the dramatic tragedy remains one of the arts most popular
forms, combining the potent elements of love, hate, revenge, ambitions, and the human condition.
Sophocles, took place to be one of the greatest tragedy writers of his time. Sophocles has written
many plays over the course of his lifetime; his plays are one out of three tragedywriters whose plays
survived. The Theban Trilogy, one of many plays Sophocleshad written, composed of 3 different
plays, Oedipusthe King, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone. Oedipus the King, a tragedy that shows
the role of fate, chance and pride inside of a family and community. Oedipus at Colonus, dramatizes
the end of a tragic hero s life, Oedipus, and his importance to Athens. Antigone, the last play in the
trilogy, shows the empowerment of Antigone after she decides to choose her own path in life. The
chorus, the voice of a greater society, plays three major roles in the trilogy; mediating, directing and
dramatizing. Throughout the trilogy we are introduced to the chorus, and their importance in the
plays.
Mediating, one of the most important roles the chorus plays in the trilogy. The chorus mediates in
the sense of space and understanding, such as comments and making known certain ideas and
themes that developed in the dramatic world. The chorus had made comments on the fall of
Oedipus, about his greatness, weakness and fate and frailty of man, the commentary also sets and
creates the mood and aura

Bartleby The Scrivener Response Essay
In nearly all situations of life, we find ourselves faced with the familiar face of a blank wall:
Ominous, judging, begrudging walls. Some tend to be symbolic; others tend to be quite literal, both
cases leaving us puzzled at how to get around such an obstruction. In Herman Melville s short story
Bartleby, The Scrivener, the title character faces quite a similar dilemma. All throughout the
story, Bartleby faces an assortment of walls, most notably a blackened brick wall right outside
his office window. This wall becomes a preoccupation for him, leaving him in what one can only
call a dead wall reverie (Melville 17). By the end of the story the walls go from an enclosure to,
quite literally, a tomb for the distraught writer. Over the years,... Show more content on

They are a common theme in Bartleby , from the walls themselves being given a grim
description This view might have been considered rather tame, than otherwise, deficient in what
the landscape painters call life (Melville 2). To Bartleby s own implicit demise. Whether it be a
result of being pushed away from human contact, rejecting the concept of socialization, or an
inability to relay what must be said to others, Bartleby s situation lead to his descent into
hopelessness and death. Such points are addressed in Steven Ryan s interpretation, in which he
states: ...one could easily understand the...logic that would see within Bartleby s dead wall
reverie as...a recognition of the cosmic void (death, isolation...limitations) (Ryan 42). For hours
upon hours, Bartleby stands and stares aimlessly at the wall outside his window and at the walls
of the prison. He refuses to work, as he also refuses to work. In the end, we alongside Bartleby
realize there is no true escape for him except prison or his own inevitable death. By rejecting all
basic necessities of life, Bartleby seems to come to his own acceptance of the latter, but is
prepared to face the former with the same motives; and that he does. The office walls and prison
walls are essentially the same to him, as he knows that both will do the same thing to keep him
contained. In the same manner, the walls of approaching

The War Between The Civilized And Barbaric World
President Bush described his holy war against the so called terrorism as a war between the
civilized and barbaric world. But his government committed more barbaric acts than the terrorists
themselves. I can name tons of war crimes that Bush s government is involved in. (Mohamedou

His tragic experience was later written and published as the novel known as GuantГЎnamo Diary.

The Pros And Cons Of A Hero
Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world
with a superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower.
All people have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero
are inside each and every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world.
These heroes are created in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take
saving the world to be a hero. A hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a
hero is someone who makes a positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges.
To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the
hero within us is revealed. This quote proves how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats
these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there are many examples of heroes in the
modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular people like you and me. The only
difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a footprint in the world. To make
this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in the word that help bring out
these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of heroes. People from all
different backgrounds became a hero saving others lives or having a positive impact in a random
stranger s life. One hero during this troublesome time in

as the Great Leap Forward and the Great Cultural Revolution, which left indelible effect on Chinas

When the Guangdong Provincial Secretary, Xi Zhongxun, wished Central government to transfer
more power to the local government, which would help Guangdong have more flexibility in foreign
economic activities, Deng Xiaoping agreed with this idea, and chose four cities, which just small
county towns at that time, became Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
In the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Deng charged that the Central
government was overconcentration of power in the hands of an individual or of a few people ,
which undeniably damaged democracy and incompatible with socialism (Deng Xiaoping, 1978).
Therefore, after 1980, the Regulation on Special Economic Zones in Guangdong Province been

Essay On China s Emergence As A Global Power
China s emergence as a global power has coincided with a somewhat heavy handed foreign policy
towards its neighbors. Internal disputes have included a political crisis in Hong Kong over the right
to vote, minority oppression in Inner Mongolia, and unhealthy air quality. China s rise has changed
the Asian power dynamic. Chinese foreign policy towards North Korea, protective in nature, has
drawn criticism. Worried about instability in Korea driving untrained refugees into China, its
leadership opposes any transformative actions in the region. China s policy towards Japan
increasingly features hostile rhetoric, as the two countries struggle for influence in the region.

International Law does not support China s claims. The principle of effective occupation was
established by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Island of Palmas in 1928. Effective
occupation entails an ability and intention to exercise continuous and uninterrupted jurisdiction,
which is distinguished from conquest. China has occupied the Paracel Islands, an archipelago of
thirty islands between China and Vietnam, but it has not occupied the Spratly Islands, an
archipelago off the coasts of the Philippines and Malaysia. It once occupied nine islands between
1988 and 1992, but the islands are now occupied by various other claimants. China s claims are
also disputed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Under UNCLOS, claims to
resources are based on exclusive economic zones and continental shelves. China s claims far surpass
its exclusive economic zones and continental shelves, overlapping with the legal claims of other
ASEAN states. China s claims rely on historical interests, which carries no weight under
international law.
Another problem stems from the natural resource potential of the sea. Estimations of oil in the
region present varied statistics, but everyone agrees that the area has oil. According to the
Ministry of Geological Resources and Mining of the People s Republic of China, the sea may
contain 17.7 billion tons of crude oil. The United States Energy Information Administration

The beginnings can be traced back to the introduction of the Harlequin frame in 1940. That year,
Lord Taylor, a famous department store in New York City, presented a design award to Altina
Sanders for designing an eyeglass frame shaped much like a theatrical harlequin mask.
The cat eye frame sold exclusively in a few New York City fashion boutiques, but set off a craze for
upswept frames that was widely copied over the next 30 years.
In 1955, American Optical enticed an internationally recognized dress designer named Madam
Schiaparelli to design the first designer frame. It was a rimless mounting sold only in exclusive
optical shops. The exclusivity focused pair of events launched the trend for brand names on frames.
Today, hundreds of frame collections carry brand names. Some are well known designers, some
carry names of celebrities, and some even use names connected with motorcycles or athletic shoes.
The connection between the name and the product may sometimes seem tenuous, but the brands
have been successful. Brand names have dominated the frame market for the past 20 years.
Lenses. It took longer for brand names to impact ophthalmic lenses. Two of the earliest lenses to
earn recognizable brand names were introduced nearly 70 years ago. One was Polaroid sunglasses
and the other was Ray Ban sunglasses. Both brands still exist.
In the mid 1960 s, Corning introduced photochromic glass lenses that became a

Technology vs Organic Essay example
Humanity s timeline illustrates the past, present and future of human beings; commencing nearly
200,000 years ago when Homo sapiens first diverged from its ancestors (Evans,1998). For the next
188,000 years humans were content to forge and live within the constructs of a hunter gatherer
societal organization. Approximately 12,000 years ago agricultural systems began appearing in
various places around the world. An astonishingly short period of time later the Agricultural
Revolution transformed human ecology, social organization, demography, culture, and religion
(Fagan: 2007). Man wholeheartedly embraced the sweeping changes bought on by agricultureand

The pronounced change from hunting and gathering to agriculture and domestication can be
simplistically designated the Agricultural or Neolithic Revolution (Pringle:1998). The catalytic
developments of the Neolithic Revolution mark a major turning point in the history of humankind.
The resulting animal and plant domestication established the foundation on which modern
civilization was built. Agriculture is a uniquely human activity and is perhaps the п¬Ѓrst activity
for which humans developed technology. Technology, understood as the use of farming tools and
techniques, is an indispensable component in agriculture. In the most general sense, technology
permits humans to increase the capture and efficient utilization of solar radiation that drives
primary plant production that is the basis of the human food and п¬Ѓber chain (Porter, Rasmusen:
2009). The steadfast characterization of human nature can be viewed as a historical constant,
while the prevailing woes and dilemmas facing humanity can be viewed as a contemporary
variable. Similarly to an algebraic equation, clever manipulation of the variable and constant
portion can lead to discovering the value of the variable or as in the case of humanity; it can

Plato s Dialogue, Republic, And The Claims Of The Modern...
Philosophers are commonly viewed as useless and foolish in the modern world. Some people see
philosophers of the past as people who attempted to understand important aspects of human nature,
different ideologies, and social problems only to fail or not provide universal answers or solutions.
However, there are others who see the importance of philosophers and how they have become to
understand aspects of life and human nature before anyone else; Platois a person who sides with the
argument that philosophers play an important role in society. In Plato s dialogue, Republic, he
attempts to discover justiceand to convey the importance philosophers possess in ensuring a just
society. The main argument that will be addressed in this essay is that philosophers are useful and
are essential to guarantee a truly just city. In this paper I will use Plato s dialogue, Republic, and
the claims mentioned throughout to support and build my agreement with Plato in arguing that
having philosophers in rule ensures a just and honest society. The main question presented in,
Republic is what is justice; both in the individual and in the city. These concepts of justice need to
be addressed before determining that by having philosophers in rule, the city will be truly just. By
providing Plato s definition of justice in the individual and the city it will be easier to understand
why philosophers are the only people who understand justice and how to implement it into a society.

Decalcification Of Teeth Lab Report
1.Introduction
1.1.General introduction and context
Studies show that the bacteria in your mouth uses the sugar in drinks as nutrients and releases acid
as a waste product. It is this acid, in conjunction with the acids already present in most drinks(
Phosphoric acid, citric acid and tartaric acid) that erodes the enamel on your teeth. Erosion and
decay is caused by the decalcification of teeth. The loss of enamel weakens teeth and leaves the
more susceptible to chipping and staining. Typically, kids and teenagers are at a higher risk of
tooth decay because their enamel is not fully developed (Anon, 2015) and they typically consume
much more sugary drinks than adults. However, other research has also indicated that it is the

decaying and staining them, while coffee and coke zero will only stain but not decay them and

the drinks.
1.4.Scope
All the wisdom teeth and false teeth that were to be used in the experiment were rinsed
thoroughly to prevent any interference during experimentation. In order to achieve results, they
were weighed on an extremely sensitive scale that is able to pick up very tiny changes in mass

ensure that they were sterile and that there was no formalin remaining on them. Each tooth and
artificial tooth was left placed in it sown container with the applicable liquid for the predetermined

The Hybridization Of Baroque Art
The Baroque period of the 1600 and 1750s began in Europe and defined the art of the time
(Stechow 111). Spain s quest for the unity and assimilation to Spanish culture of its subjects in the
Americas led to the systematic suppression and destruction of the indigenous cultures of the
regions, such as the Aztecs and the Incans. Baroque art was only supposed to be another aspect of
Spanish culturefor the indigenous population to assimilate to (Gauvin 4, 33 34). However, the
Baroque period created an atmosphere in the Americasthat led to a blending of the Spanish and
indigenous cultures. The subsequent art and architecture that was created was a hybrid formed
from the cultures coinhabiting the area. This hybrid form has been characterized as a hidden
inscription of difference within the fictional sameness of official culture, as rebellious graffiti
camouflaged in the forest of baroque symbols (Salgado 317 318). It provided a place for the people
of Latin Americato subtly celebrate and preserve their heritage that Spain was threatening. To
understand the significance of the cultural impact that the hybridization of Baroque art had on
culture in the Spanish colonies of the New World, we must first define what hybridization of an art
form means. Then we will investigate what constitutes baroque art and why it was so conducive to
being hybridized. To further the understanding of the hybridization, we will examine the painting

Delaney s racism has only escalated from the beginning of the novel to the end of part one, so

Muhammad Ali instilled a program in his everyday life. His sub goals to achieve what he had
planned for the day and if it was not done he would not give up and continue. Training in a gym
was not enough he trained on the streets, he was said to be a fast runner. Before he took upon his
career in boxing he used to play football and basketball. He was awarded with a scholarship
although he was an excellent athlete he had a lot of anger and was violent (Robert Peter 1995,
page266). This was when he found interest in boxing and made a name for himself. Champions
aren t made in gyms; champions are made from something deep inside them a desire, a vision, a

The Effect Of Hydration Of Copper Chloride Hydrates
Purpose Hydrates are inorganic salts that lose water when heated and undergo a color change.
The loss of water makes the hydrate anhydrous. Copper chloride hydrate is what will be used in
the lab to show what happens when a hydrate is heated which can lead to a better understanding of
hydrates as a whole and their reactions that can be observed to discover things about the
environment they re in. After the removal of water from the copper chloride hydrate, the solid ,when
reacted with aluminum and filtered, produces elemental copper. Through the understanding of the
process used to achieve this, the experiment can be recreated for another hydrate to isolate a
different element. By determining the amount of water and copper in the... Show more content on

The molecular formula is the actual amount of atoms of in each molecule but is not used in this lab.
Empirical formulas can be found by converting the grams of each substance within a compound to
moles using their molar mass then dividing each value by the smallest value calculated. That results
in the molar ratios which are multiplied so that they are all whole numbers. Those numbers can be
plugged into the formula as subscripts to obtain the empirical formula which is the simplest form of
the formula. The empirical formula of copper chloride hydrate will be found by completing
experiment and using the masses of the reactants and products. The mass of chlorine is not measured
during the experiment but can be found through the masses of water and copper that are measured
in the experiment. By adding the masses of water and copper together the mass of chlorine can be
determined and used in finding the mole ratios which can then lead to the formation of the
empirical formula. The empirical formula of the hydrous compound will be found and is different
than the anhydrous formula. The anhydrous version won t contain water. How the empirical
formula is written is also important. The compound in the experiment contains water and instead of
distributing the mole ratio of water to each subscript, the number comes before it. This is because
the empirical formula is the smallest

History
The museum of flight is a nonprofit organization that opened in 1965 at King County National
Airport in Seattle. It is the largest private air and space museum in the world, and it also hosts the
largest K 12 educational programs in the world. The museum is visited by four hundred or more
people every year. It also serves more than 140,000 students a year. The Museum of Flight goes
back to the Pacific Northwest Aviation Historical Foundation that was funded for the excavation
and restoration of the 1929 Boeing 80A 1, that was fund in a Alaskan landfill in Anchorage. The

Emergency Department Staffing
In a hospital, the Emergency Department is the most crucial area (Girija Bhat, 2013). With many
challenges, the Emergency Department must operate efficiently in an effort to deliver quality care
in a timely manner while meeting the patient demand based on volume size (Richard Jarvis, 2016).
If there is an unbalanced match with the patient demand with the Emergency Department capacity
and staffing to deliver care within a timely manner, it can reflect on the patient flow and can create
crowding and long throughput times (Richard Jarvis, 2016). As a result, it can lead to poor quality
of care and patient outcomes (Richard Jarvis, 2016). On the other hand, the shortest throughput time
while operating efficiently with the needed staffing can lead to good patient satisfaction and better
outcomes (Richard Jarvis, 2016).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this goal, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital created a fast track team consisting of a nurse
practitioner, nurse, and a tech for signage at the entrance to reduce throughput time (McHugh, Van

Department treatment area that can help to reduce additional excessive throughput time.
To improve the Emergency Department patient flow with having sufficient staffing without the

ABSTRACT
Our society is constantly changing and these changes have an impact not only on our buying habits
and consumption but also on the hotel companies that must constantly adapt to meet new customer
requirements. When performing market research to determine customer loyalty strategy, hotel
marketers are often faced with questions that require application of both quantitative research
methods and deep knowledge coming from unstructured qualitative approaches. Subsequently, the
quantitative approach is used to design and test an instrument for web based service quality ... Show

Assata Shakur Response Paper
Assata Shakur has the most direct commentary out of all of the activists that we have
discussed. One can sense her urgency for the unity of black people and how her past experiences
shaped her into the person she is today. In Assata: An Autobiography, some of her most
intriguing comments were the comments about self hatred in the black community. She is
adamant about addressing and fixing the self hate among black people. However, though
attempts have been made by organizations such as the BPP, activists like Malcolm X, and an
array of others to spread African Americanpride, the self hate and jokes continue even today.
Shakur discusses and describes the hatred that blacks have within by mentioning the ... Show more

For instance, her involvement
with the Republic of New Afrika, and her violent mentality was a bit too extreme for me.
However, analyzing Shakur made me realize that there was a difference among the activists from
the 19th and early 20th century and the ones from the mid 20th century. Compared to the older
activists we have discussed, there seems to be a push for self worth, not just how to achieve
equal rights or make whites accept black people. Malcolm X pushes for this belief in self worth
and unity among black people as well.3 This becomes important in my opinion because black
people have struggled for centuries attempting to gain equality and during its duration have
naturally endured identity issues. I feel that W.E.B Du Bois idea of double consciousness comes
into play here. His idea that African Americans have basically two identities or thought
processes, one being Black and the other being American or through the eyes of white people
could have possibly created divisions among blacks, causing some to despise themselves. 4
What intrigues me most about not only Assata Shakur, but even Martin Luther King and
Malcolm X, is that there seems to be a move from just equality, but to equality and love. While
each of the three activists expresses their ideas of what love means

Standardized Testing Is Necessary For Education
Assessment, assessment, assessment, it is not fun and no student in their right mind would argue
otherwise but testing is necessary. This one word has become the centerpiece of education not only
in the United States but in the entire westernized world. Standardized testing has been used to
measure teacher quality and student achievement since the mid 1800s. Within the last two decades
standardized testing has taken on an important role in educationin all 50 states since its mandate by
President Bush s No Child Left Behind Act. The use of standardized testing to measure progress,
identify strengths and weaknesses, and help professionals reach competency in their careers are
critical to improvement of the educational system. There are many facts about standardized
achievement testing: the public wants it, other nations may do it better, and many critics offer no
viable alternatives to it (Haladyna, 2006).
President George W. Bush signed No Child Left Behind into law on January 8, 2002, thus re
authorizing six more years of Johnson s historic Elementary and Secondary Education Act initiative.
The No Child Left Behind Act aims to reform education by improving academic standards, with
goals such as: holding states more accountable for results, creating greater flexibility at the state and
local levels, expanding options and choice for parents, emphasizing teacher quality and effective
teaching methods, and confirming states progress (Fritzberg 2004, p. 11). It expanded the

my father who had been walking into his room wheel around on one of his rubber booted heels
and look at her with his blue eyes flashing like clearest ice beneath the snow that was his hair. His
usually ruddy face was drawn and grey, reflecting the exhaustion of a man of sixty five who had
been working in those rubber boots for eleven hours on an August day, and for a fleeting moment I
wondered what I would do if he killed my motherwhile I stood there in the porch with those three
foolish mackerel in my hand. Then he turned and went into his room and the radio blared forth the

When Macleod talks about the father s blue eyes flashing like clearest ice beneath the snow that
was his hair (228) the reader has a picture painted in their mind. This sentence uses imagery to
put emphasis behind the glare of the father s eyes. The word ice also has a second effect as it
can refer to the cold heartedness and fuming temper of the father in the passage. Imagery
continues to be used by Macleod as he continues on the reader is told that the father s usually
ruddy face was drawn and grey (228). The father s face was mentioned on a few occasions
throughout the story as the reader hears mention of his sunburnt face (230) just a couple pages
later on. The reiteration of a small detail like this brings emphasis back to the original passage.
In order for his face to look drawn and grey circumstances must be dire. Imagery is in many forms
of writing and when used correctly, as in this passage, it elevates the writing and draws emphasis
to specific parts of the story that could be easily missed without it. Imagery clearly shows the tense

The Effects Of Social Inequality In The United States
Seyedeh Elnaz Mirza Hosseini

Sociology 1 Professor Hoshiar
Living in a society that does not help its people to live comfortably and provide facilities for them
to achieve their demands, is harmful. One of these harmful affections is social inequality in each
diverse society. Social inequality occurs when resources in each society are distributed unevenly,
typically through norms of allocation, that engender specific patterns along lines of socially defined
categories of persons. The United States contains one of the most common social inequalities for its
population and that is social stratification and mobility and the government should strictly
investigate this social inequality for people who are living in the United States.
Sociologists use the term social stratification to describe the system of social standing. Social
stratification refers to a society s categorization of its people into rankings of socioeconomic tiers
based on factors like wealth, income, race and education (Griffith et al., 2016 p.187). In the United
States IQ is also one of the characteristics of social stratification in terms of personal skills,
achievements, and athletic abilities. People consider that social stratification in the United States
contains social classes such as upper class, middle class, and lower class. People who are
categorizing in upper class not only have power and control over their own lives but also their
social status gives them

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Being A Gay Teenager
Dad overhears son saying he wants to come out, writes him a letter that goes viral ( removed
HTML ) It isn t easy being a teenager. Teenagers are halfway to adulthood and are working on
figuring out who they are and what kind people they re going to be. That inner battle surfaces
when they act out and when they get emotional. We ve all been there. What s harder than being a
teenager, however, is being a gay teenager. Gay teenagers have all of the regular teenage issues
that they have to go through and then they have a little something extra to work out. Firstly, they
can be trying to sort out if they are indeed gay. If they are then they have to figure out how to
come out to people and if it s safe for them to do so. Will their parents reject them? It s a real
possibility, unfortunately. How will their friends and neighbors treat them? These are all
questions that they have to wrestle with, and that s a lot for anyone, let alone a teenager. This
Dad s response after overhearing his son saying he wants to come out is the response that every
gay kid should receive. Meet Nate Nate is a teenager who is dating a boy named Mike. We don t
know too much about Nate, except that he s scared to come out to his parents and that he s on
the phone with Mike discussing this. He s worried about his parents response and what he ll do
if the conversation ends up going south. This is a fear that s all too real for most gay kids and it
shouldn t be. Kids should be loved because they re perfect just how they are. There s nothing
wrong with being gay. Nate s Dad reminds him of this with his perfect response via a written
letter that s since gone viral. ( removed HTML ) Dad s response Nate s Dad overhears part of
Nate s conversation with Mike and he knows that Nate wants to come out to him and his wife.
He also knows how anxious Nate is about the whole thing, as well as how afraid he is, so he

A Note On Different Relation Of Function
Recursions with Folds
Apart from using the recursion directly, fold is available to occur recursion scheme, which applies a
function to data structure/Functor to manipulate its contents. Figure 1
The above illustrates the summary of different relation of function. Below we will focus on further
explaining of how to isolate the recursions from the code in order to gain the benefit of
convenience, which is easier to control, repair and further develop the code.
In (inception) Fix (fixpoint)
The whole idea if In and Fix is all about where the recursion of code performs in the data type,
which isolate the recursion to a single spot, usually represented by parameter k.
First of all, we would have a simple code with direct recursions and ... Show more content on

The idea of writing the value of type fix List a is shown as below:
As compared with List a and List a. we can make a assumption of:
List a в‰… List a k в‰… (Fix (List a))
By applying the assumption into Empty and Cons,
Empty :: List a k
Empty :: List a (Fix(List a))
Cons :: a k List a k
By substituting an integer, 20, into a and Empty into k,
Cons 20 Empty :: List Int (List a k)
Instead of this presentation, we want to make this in one level deeper via In,
Cons 20 9In Empty ) :: List Int (Fix (List a))
In Cons 20 (In Empty ) :: Fix (List a)
Thus, applying this idea into the case, we can conclude that In is a function to construct a new value
of type Fix f giving the functor of f.
Data Fix f = In(f (Fix f)) 1
In :: f(Fix f) Fix f Here is another example for using Fix, In to isolate the recursion: data Fix f = In
(f (Fix f))
data List a k = Empty | Cons a k toList :: [a] Fix (List a) toList [] = In (Empty ) toList (x:xs) = In
(Cons x (toList xs))
Applying 1 to this, data Fix List [a] = In ((List a)k) where k is the parameter for recursion size.
toList = foldr f k where Foldr:
Foldr :; (a b b) b [a] b
In order to abstract from f(Fix) to Fix f, k :: Fix (List a) k = In (Empty )
f :: a Fix (List a) Fix (List a) f x ys =

Archetypes In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Archetypes reveal something of wherever or whomever they came from, and these can be
significant cultural values of that area or civilization. Most religious stories and mythologies have
some sort of similar root, some sort of global archetypes. Maynard James Keenan. The Ancient
Middle East have cultural values that are reflected in their stories. These cultural values are

In Gilgamesh, Genesis and Adoration of the Disk, the archetype of the bird represents migration
and transformation. In Gilgamesh, there are three birds sent out in The Story of the Flood, a
raven, dove and swallow. All but the raven returns, in the Sumerian ancient epic of Gilgamesh,
as She saw the waters had retreated, she ate, she flew around, she cawed, and she did not come

contrasts the flood story in Genesis where the dove that is sent out returns back after finding land.
This is not hopelessness, but the positivity of the returned hope after the flood. Adoration of the

except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many
problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the
public is not protected even if they take a case to court and the counselor is found guilty. What is
to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with.

The Perils Of Obedience By Stanley Milgram
In The Perils of Obedience, Stanley Milgram introduces us to his experimental studies on the
conflict between one s own conscience and obedience to authority. From these experiments,
Milgram discovered that a lot of people will obey a figure in authority; irrespective of the task
given even if it goes against their own moral belief and values. Milgram s decision to conduct
these experiments was to investigate the role of Adolf Eichmann (who played a major part in
the Holocaust) and ascertain if his actions were based on the fact that he was just following
orders; as most Germans accused of being guilty for war crimes commonly explained that they
were only being obedient to persons in higher authority. Obedience to people in authority is a
deep rooted trait that we all possess by virtue of our upbringing, and as Milgram put it, it is only
the person dwelling in isolation who is not forced to respond, with defiance or submission, to the
commands of others (Milgram 1974). This trait is exhibited every day in family circles,
workplace and school. People are most likely to obey instructions from people they perceive their
authority to be legal or moral. We see people obeying their pastors, leaders in various societies and
other people they see as higher to them; and they obey anything they are being told even if it
involves killing another human being. They justify their actions, however wrong, on obedience to
authority. After the conclusion of the experiments and its

DIY Holiday Wreath Demonstration Speech
Title: Wreath DIY
Specific purpose: To demonstrate to my audience how to make a holiday wreath
Thesis: To show my audience how easy and inexpensive it is to make your own holiday wreath at
home
I. Introduction A. Attention Material: I m sure many of us have walked into a grocery store, and
have thought to ourselves... ahhhh... that smell!! . Always wanting to start new projects, this when
I got inspired to create a wreath. I went home, did my research, and found out that the process was
low cost and so simple to make! I invited my siblings to help me get the supplies, and to make the
wreath together. With all the many ways of making a wreath, we all contributed, making it our very
own.

2. You will also needfloral wire or some sort of string.
Instead, I am using twine to secure the branches onto the hanger. You can find twine in most
convenience stores. They re usually under 10 dollars.
3. Lastly, you will need embellishments;
a. The fun thing about making wreaths is that you can personalize it to your liking.
b. Buying artificial plants and flowers will make your wreath everlasting, which can be bought
from Michaels, Walmart, or even Dollar Tree, only a few miles away from Milpitas High.
c. If you really want to make your wreath even more unique, you can add small photos, items from
a trip, or even foliage and branches from a nearby park.
[Transition: Once you have all the materials that you need, you can move on to picking out the
different items to start beautifying your wreath.] B. Your second step is to obtain a frame. For
this demonstration, I have a wire hanger here with me. The reason why it has to be a wire
hanger is because you want to be able to reshape it. Most of you can find this in your closet. 1.
Start by pulling down the middle of the bar of the hanger, creating a square 2. Transform the
square into a circle by pulling the wire outwards between each angle of the square 3. Make sure to
make any adjustments as necessary to make your hanger into a shape of a circle.
[Transition: Now that the wire frame is a circle, you are just about ready to start embellishing.

Robots Will Be The Biggest Job
Robotic Technology is the most beneficial means to the future of industries because they will
create more jobs. John Tammy states Robots will ultimately be the biggest job creators simply
because aggressive automation will free us up to do new work by virtue of it erasing toil that
was once essential ( why Robots Will Be The Biggest Job Creators In World History par.3). This
quote shows that robots will be the biggest reason why lots of people have jobs because. Robots
will create a lot of jobs for employees that will free them from doing hard labor. When labor is
hard and it can cause employees to be exhausted which results from them to slow down
production which is bad the company. Without robots, employees are stuck with doing hard and
even time consuming labor which can slow down production. Industrial robots can help a lot of
companies make labor less harsh. Bill Lydon states Automation has allowed us to compete on a
global basis and it has created jobs in Southwest Michigan. If it had not been for automation we
would not have beaten our Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican competitors ( IFR press release 1).
This quote shows that robots not only help companies create more employment, they can also help
companies beat competitors. Which are very beneficial to them because it can help companies build
a good reputation because of the quality and popularity of their products. Without robots to help
companies beat their competitors, they could be beaten by them and

The Oregon Trail is one of the most famous of the pioneer trails and is the largest land migration

As we take a look closer look at the struggles pioneer women faced during their migration it

Effectiveness Of Phonological Awareness Interventions On...
Only one third of students in the U.S. are scoring at proficient levels on reading assessments. The
data from 2013 to 2015 has remained relatively unchanged with one exception children with
intellectual disabilities reading scores have actually dropped (National Report Card, 2015). The
purpose of this study was to determine if evidence based readinginterventions from the Florida
Center for Reading Research (FCRR) would increase phoneme blending and segmenting skills in
children who have intellectual disabilities. Two 1st grade special education students, ages 6 and 7,

IDEA also stated that any alternate assessment must be aligned to grade level standards (Towles
Reeves, Kleinart Muhomba, 2009). The research is expanding in the area of evidence based reading
interventions to include children who have intellectual disabilities. Phonological awareness is
gaining support as a critical element in reading instruction as shown in student performances using
targeted intervention measures that align to the student s instructional level and to reading
standards (Lemons, Mrachko, Kostewicz, Paterra, 2012). Without explicit instruction in
phonologicalawareness, a student will fall short in being able to understand the critical elements
needed to read and will only be able to learn by memorization (Shankweiler Fowler, 2004). Based on
these statistics, evidence based reading interventions including phonological awareness must be
included in reading instruction. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of evidence based
reading interventions that align with students instructional level and their achievement in literacy
performance for first grade students who have intellectual disabilities (ID). The information
presented focused on early literacy development, phonological awareness, intellectual

Scariest Moment In My Life
Since I was six years old, I lived my life in a constant fear of having to get deported back to my
home country, Mexico. I lived in Mexico for six years in a small town called Chupicuaro.
Sometimes I think back and ask myself how my life would have been if my parents had not
decided to come to the U.S. Would I have been living in the streets? Would I have to start
working at the age of eleven like many of my cousins did when they were that age? Would I have
just received up to the middle school of education? All these thoughts are scary to even think
about, and I cannot imagine how my family members manage to live through all that back in
Mexico. Somehow they ve achieved it and can stay happy. The spontaneous moments that my
mom, my brother and I had to go through still run crawling through my head. The scariest
moments of my life, as well as the most grateful moment in my life, awaited us. Never in a
million years did I bare to think that a shift was to occur in our lives ten years later.I don t
remember much, but the things I do remember I imagine them precisely in my head. As I grew
older, the images that once floated in my head started to fade away slowly like morning beauty
fades away from her grievous day. As the years passed, I remembered less and less about the long
journey we had to experience. But one thing I can never forget is the day we left that minty color
house. In which then made our way to the municipal busstation. That morning everyone was at my

In my position at a Level II Trauma Center as a Transfer Center Coordinator, communication has
been a key theme over the last year in particular. As I have previously mentioned, the Transfer
Center and our office cohort has a new Director and the growing pains have been great. Before our
new Director, gossip was rampant. With the new director, the group is learning a lot about
communication, the value of downward and upward communication and the form that
communication is received. The most recent source of growing pains was from the change of the
type of staff for the mid shift; staff was changing from non licensed staff to registered nurses. The
Director announced the changes to the group in June, however the pilot project was not yet approved

Unfortunately, my office setting does not vary from those classic lyrics. The text calls the
grapevine informal, yet important source of information (Robbins Judge, 2009). There are two
misconceptions I had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the
grapevine is true information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors
(Robbins Judge, 2009). The interesting part of the grapevine that is particularly applicable to the
situation I described is that rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us,
when there is ambiguity, and under conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The
mid shift change of staff announcement was particularly ill timed because the project was not
approved, nor were dates set for the approval; the pilot project announcement was ambiguous.
This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme with my co workers was rumors around who
was keeping his/her job and who was being let go, with many people speculating who was being
fired. This rumor was damaging not only to my co workers who were considered the outgroup
(Robbins Judge, 2009), but also to respect for the

Descriptive Essay About Fascinating Town
The Unknown
What don t people know? People don t know or understand many things. People first make a
judgment about someone or something. They then decide whether they like or not like someone
or something. People judge, people stare, people are rude, people are mean. You wish that
everyone in the world was nice and that the world was a safe place with no bad guys . Soon you
will wake up and realize the truth, the truth about the world and the people.
The Fascinating Town
My grandparents live in Italy. I have visited them there three times know. I love it there it is so
different from here. They live in the cutest town where there are no tourists and everyone knows
each other. The town is on a slant it almost feels like you are walking down a staircase. The main
part of town has three of the best Italian places I have ever been to. In the main part of town,
there is also an old fashioned parlor shop it makes me feel like I m in a scene in an old movie. This
town is so interesting and different and that s why I love it.
THe House of all Houses My grandparent s house in Italy is also wonderful. They live just twenty
minutes away from the town. They live way up on this mountain with only four other houses up
there. To get to their house you have to take a windy dirt road while going through a ton of trees.
Normally at night instead of deer crossing, there are chinchillas which are basically wild pigs
crossing. Their house has two parts to it a guest house and their house. The houses are made of
gray stone and covered with green moss. To get to the entrance you have to go through almost
like a tunnel of flowers. Inside it is old but also modern at the same time. The original part of the
house is over 600 years old. Outside they have a garden full of different vegetables, and five acres
of grape vines and olive trees. They also have a rose garden full of beautiful red, pink, and violet
roses.
The Time I went Far Away The last time I went to Italy was the summer going into 8th grade.
Normally when we go to Italy we take a different trip either within Italy or somewhere close. My
grandparents are very active and love traveling so they want us to be able to experience different
places. So they

Ponyboy Curtis In The Outsiders
The Outsiders, is a book about love, hate, loss and mistakes. These things are causes for many
events. Over the course of the book the identity of the narrator, Ponyboy Curtis changes. His
identity goes from an outsider in the group of greasers. Most greasers are hoods, criminals and
they all have a specific look. While Pony looks like them, he is different. He grows more like
them throughout the story. At the end it s almost like a repeating cycle. He becomes the kid he
use to be again. In the beginning, of The Outsider Ponyboy was an average kid with good grades
and could run really fast. He wasn t like the other kids in the group of greasers. They robbed gas

He kind of shuts down after that. His grades drop, he gets sick and just isn t the same. Though he
is slowly getting over it. His identity is a kid who is upset but slowly finding his way back to
how he normally is. After talking to his teacher about grades, he finds out he has to write an
essay. He is inspired to write his story. He is on his way to becoming the person he used to be.
An innocent kid at the top of his class. In the book his very close friend, Johnny speaks his last
words, Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold... The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died.
Earlier in this story we learned that gold is a way of saying someone is pure and innocent.
Johnny didn t want Pony to be a criminal or anything so he said this to make him act innocent
again and it worked. Johnny had hope that Pony would get over this and he did. In the text Zebra
a kid who loves to run gets so injured that he can t ever run again. In this book, Pony s grades
were so bad he thought he should just drop out, he didn t think they would ever go back up. In
Zebra the boy kept hope and was able to run again, One or two additional operations were still

Theme Of The Seventh Seal
Undoubtedly, one of the greatest masterpiece ever made, The Seventh Seal, Ingmar Bergman s
finest analogy about the human condition, seems quiet timeless and deeply familiar with the
world that it takes place in. Set during the Middle Ages during the Black Death (plague) era, The
Seventh Seal begins with a narrator s voice that reads from the Book of Revelations from the
bible: And when the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of
half an hour. The said silence in heaven or rather the silence of God in the world is Bergman s
major theme, along with death. This film sets a high level of ambition by using a theme that is
mainly universal, which is the quest for the meaning of life.
The movie begins as Antonius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the dominant element used to explore the philosophical theme can be found in
the setting of the movie. For instance, deserted villages are everywhere; and every town they
run into appears to have been destroyed by the Black Plague. No set pieces are nice or lively in
a way to suggest that the world they live in is dark and disturbing, or anything but a land for the
dying. The gloomy tone of the film is mainly emphasized by a simple use of grayscale, as it really
accentuates the setting where an almost desolate land caused by the plague. The scoring of the
music is also strengthening the gloomy tone of the film. On the whole, the film is aesthetically
beautiful and philosophically brilliant, which is still become a relevant topic even after half of the
century passed. Thanks to those elements, Ingmar Bergman was able to help clarify one of the most
questionable human thought, which is the meaning of life itself. Following Bergman s creation of
Antonius Block, it can be seen that all roads lead the

What Is The Structure Of Araby
Araby Summary
This scholarly article named The Structure of Araby written by Jerome Mandel, and published by
Modern Language Studies in 1985 states that Araby, which was written by James Joyce is set up
as a medieval romance. The genre of medieval romance is what Araby is modeled off of Araby has
all of the common themes that are associated such as the aspects of a youth experiencing childhood,
lovers that are unable to be together because of social differences, and a quest to find themselves. In
the scholarly article, Mandel stated that at the beginning of the story, Araby, there were many ways
that James Joyce showed how the unnamed boy in the story was developing through his childhood

way to trying to complete his quest such as his family not having much extra many to give, his
uncle that forgets that he wanted to go to the bazaar. The boy in Araby does not show the
characteristics of a knight, the boy was expected to overcome obstacles that would prevent him
from going to the bazaar and buying his lover something, and complete the quest. Joyce mentions
the successful and the unsuccessful quest, while the boy is unsuccessful in his quest, and he fails
to get the girl anything, but this failure made him realize who he is as a person. He was once
driven by vanity, and his love for the girl, the story was most likely written from the narrator s
perspective of him in the future looking back at his adolescence. The narrator finds that when he

Characteristics Of Entrepreneurship
Maki of Japan is a restaurant in Opry Mills Mall. In 2015, the business was not going so good.
The food was not selling as it had to and this was not good for the company nor the employees.
The owner, however was creative. This was his personal characteristic. As the entrepreneur
himself, he slowly changed the menu around. He changed prices, plates, and added more food. He
replaced things that didn t sell to new ones. Example be that he stopped selling cheese wantons to
sell plantains that the customers seemed to like more. Gradually, the business started doing great
again and this was a good sign. As the entrepreneur, he took control and found a way to fix the
situation by his trait.
Entrepreneur motivation can come from a person s life experience. Past jobs, a person s family
business, or education is an example of this. Life experiences can motivate someone to open a
business because the person has already experienced it and knows what they are doing. They
have seen what it is the business will need in order to be successful. This is beneficial for the
business because if the leader knows what they are providing for the customers, the business will
go well.
Previous jobs are a good example of life experiences that can motivate an entrepreneur. If someone
has worked in a job that relates to the business they want to open, it gives that person an advantage
in comparison to another that has not worked too and experienced what they did. For example, if a
person has started

Symbolism In A Young Goodman Brown
Nathaniel Hawthorne creates a story based around real events that took place during the
seventeenth century. Goodman Brown is exposed to the real world and what may be the true
identity of the people around him. After seeing the truth, Goodman Brown does not know who he
can truly trust. Although Brown loves his wife and is strong in his faith, he begins to question
himself and everything around him. This story is written with foreshadowing, symbolism, and
point of view. In the story, A Young Goodman Brown
, Nathanial Hawthorne uses true events to
portray how life can sometimes be confusing and a lie.
Nathanial Hawthorn was born on July 4th 1804 and he died on May 19th 1864. His home life
helped him create this great story. His father died and left him and his siblings with his
stepmother. Nathanial took life events and created a beautiful story making people question do
you really know a person. This story really never tells if the vision Goodman Brown has is true or
just a nightmare.
Many of the characters have small roles that are very significant to the end of the story. Nathanial s
characters are flat, with little to no detail. The information given about the characters was not a
great amount. Faith is one of the first characters shown in the short story. She is a very important
key to the story because Goodman Brown loves her so. Hawthorne based A Young Goodman
Brown on many true events. The Salem witch trails is said to begin, In January 1692, two girls

Compare And Contrast The Election Of 1824 And 1828
The elections of 1824 and 1828
Main idea: Adams and jackson introduce new ways of campaigning in the elections of 1824 and
1828
1. The election of 1824 had three candidates that were favorite suns or candidates supported by their
home state rather than by their national party. These candidates were Henry Clay, John quincy
Adams, and Andrew jackson.
2. Jackson had the most votes but less than a majority of a plurality. Since no one had a majority
then the house of representatives had to choose the next president of the united states but before the
houses had voted on the president adams and clay had made a deal that clay would use his
influence as house speaker to defeat jackson and make sure that he didn t win.

The tariff debate
Main idea: the fight over tariffs divided the nation and raised the question of states rights versus the
rights of the federal government.
1. Many Americans had disagreed on the subject of tariffs or a fee paid by merchants who
imported goods out of country. In 1828 congress had passed a tariff that had placed a higher fee
on imported goods from britain which had benefitted america because a lot of goods were imported
from britain. Tariffs had split the nation in two one side being against and one side supporting it.
Most Americans from the northwest had supported the tariff on britain because it had benefited
them.
2. Southerners called the tariff the tariff of abominations because the tariff had resulted in products
being higher priced then they were before the tariff on

  • 3. Bartleby The Scrivener Response Essay In nearly all situations of life, we find ourselves faced with the familiar face of a blank wall: Ominous, judging, begrudging walls. Some tend to be symbolic; others tend to be quite literal, both cases leaving us puzzled at how to get around such an obstruction. In Herman Melville s short story Bartleby, The Scrivener, the title character faces quite a similar dilemma. All throughout the story, Bartleby faces an assortment of walls, most notably a blackened brick wall right outside his office window. This wall becomes a preoccupation for him, leaving him in what one can only call a dead wall reverie (Melville 17). By the end of the story the walls go from an enclosure to, quite literally, a tomb for the distraught writer. Over the years,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are a common theme in Bartleby , from the walls themselves being given a grim description This view might have been considered rather tame, than otherwise, deficient in what the landscape painters call life (Melville 2). To Bartleby s own implicit demise. Whether it be a result of being pushed away from human contact, rejecting the concept of socialization, or an inability to relay what must be said to others, Bartleby s situation lead to his descent into hopelessness and death. Such points are addressed in Steven Ryan s interpretation, in which he states: ...one could easily understand the...logic that would see within Bartleby s dead wall reverie as...a recognition of the cosmic void (death, isolation...limitations) (Ryan 42). For hours upon hours, Bartleby stands and stares aimlessly at the wall outside his window and at the walls of the prison. He refuses to work, as he also refuses to work. In the end, we alongside Bartleby realize there is no true escape for him except prison or his own inevitable death. By rejecting all basic necessities of life, Bartleby seems to come to his own acceptance of the latter, but is prepared to face the former with the same motives; and that he does. The office walls and prison walls are essentially the same to him, as he knows that both will do the same thing to keep him contained. In the same manner, the walls of approaching ... • 6. The Pros And Cons Of A Hero Superman, Batman, Ironman, Hulk, Thor, etc. These superheroes were all heroes in the world with a superpower; however, in reality a hero is much more than having an amazing superpower. All people have the potential to become a hero, and the traits and actions that make up a hero are inside each and every one of us. Heroes are all around us in both the modern and past world. These heroes are created in many ways, but it doesn t take a risky moment, or it doesn t take saving the world to be a hero. A hero isn t always the strongest human being that risks their life, a hero is someone who makes a positive impact in someone else s life and overcomes challenges. To begin, Bob Riley said, Hard times don t create heroes. It is during the hard times when the hero within us is revealed. This quote proves how a hero faces hard times, and a hero defeats these obstacles that face him or her. In addition, there are many examples of heroes in the modern world. These unique heroes in the world are regular people like you and me. The only difference is, these unique heroes take an extra step and make a footprint in the world. To make this print, there were, and are many situations and natural disasters in the word that help bring out these heroes. For example, during the 9/11 attacks there were dozens of heroes. Internal disputes have included a political crisis in Hong Kong over the right to vote, minority oppression in Inner Mongolia, and unhealthy air quality. China s rise has changed the Asian power dynamic. Chinese foreign policy towards North Korea, protective in nature, has drawn criticism. The principle of effective occupation was established by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Island of Palmas in 1928. Effective occupation entails an ability and intention to exercise continuous and uninterrupted jurisdiction, which is distinguished from conquest. China has occupied the Paracel Islands, an archipelago of thirty islands between China and Vietnam, but it has not occupied the Spratly Islands, an archipelago off the coasts of the Philippines and Malaysia. It once occupied nine islands between 1988 and 1992, but the islands are now occupied by various other claimants. China s claims are also disputed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Under UNCLOS, claims to resources are based on exclusive economic zones and continental shelves. China s claims far surpass its exclusive economic zones and continental shelves, overlapping with the legal claims of other ASEAN states. China s claims rely on historical interests, which carries no weight under international law. Another problem stems from the natural resource potential of the sea. Estimations of oil in the region present varied statistics, but everyone agrees that the area has oil. According to the Ministry of Geological Resources and Mining of the People s Republic of China, the sea may contain 17.7 billion tons of crude oil. That year, Lord Taylor, a famous department store in New York City, presented a design award to Altina Sanders for designing an eyeglass frame shaped much like a theatrical harlequin mask. The cat eye frame sold exclusively in a few New York City fashion boutiques, but set off a craze for upswept frames that was widely copied over the next 30 years. In 1955, American Optical enticed an internationally recognized dress designer named Madam Schiaparelli to design the first designer frame. It was a rimless mounting sold only in exclusive optical shops. The exclusivity focused pair of events launched the trend for brand names on frames. Today, hundreds of frame collections carry brand names. Some are well known designers, some carry names of celebrities, and some even use names connected with motorcycles or athletic shoes. The pronounced change from hunting and gathering to agriculture and domestication can be simplistically designated the Agricultural or Neolithic Revolution (Pringle:1998). The catalytic developments of the Neolithic Revolution mark a major turning point in the history of humankind. The resulting animal and plant domestication established the foundation on which modern civilization was built. Agriculture is a uniquely human activity and is perhaps the п¬Ѓrst activity for which humans developed technology. Technology, understood as the use of farming tools and techniques, is an indispensable component in agriculture. In the most general sense, technology permits humans to increase the capture and efп¬Ѓcient utilization of solar radiation that drives primary plant production that is the basis of the human food and п¬Ѓber chain (Porter, Rasmusen: 2009). The steadfast characterization of human nature can be viewed as a historical constant, while the prevailing woes and dilemmas facing humanity can be viewed as a contemporary variable. Some people see philosophers of the past as people who attempted to understand important aspects of human nature, different ideologies, and social problems only to fail or not provide universal answers or solutions. However, there are others who see the importance of philosophers and how they have become to understand aspects of life and human nature before anyone else; Platois a person who sides with the argument that philosophers play an important role in society. In Plato s dialogue, Republic, he attempts to discover justiceand to convey the importance philosophers possess in ensuring a just society. The main argument that will be addressed in this essay is that philosophers are useful and are essential to guarantee a truly just city. In this paper I will use Plato s dialogue, Republic, and the claims mentioned throughout to support and build my agreement with Plato in arguing that having philosophers in rule ensures a just and honest society. The main question presented in, Republic is what is justice; both in the individual and in the city. These concepts of justice need to be addressed before determining that by having philosophers in rule, the city will be truly just. By providing Plato s definition of justice in the individual and the city it will be easier to understand why philosophers are the only people who understand justice and how to implement it into a society. Decalcification Of Teeth Lab Report 1.Introduction 1.1.General introduction and context Studies show that the bacteria in your mouth uses the sugar in drinks as nutrients and releases acid as a waste product. It is this acid, in conjunction with the acids already present in most drinks( Phosphoric acid, citric acid and tartaric acid) that erodes the enamel on your teeth. Erosion and decay is caused by the decalcification of teeth. The loss of enamel weakens teeth and leaves the more susceptible to chipping and staining. Typically, kids and teenagers are at a higher risk of tooth decay because their enamel is not fully developed (Anon, 2015) and they typically consume much more sugary drinks than adults. Spain s quest for the unity and assimilation to Spanish culture of its subjects in the Americas led to the systematic suppression and destruction of the indigenous cultures of the regions, such as the Aztecs and the Incans. Baroque art was only supposed to be another aspect of Spanish culturefor the indigenous population to assimilate to (Gauvin 4, 33 34). However, the Baroque period created an atmosphere in the Americasthat led to a blending of the Spanish and indigenous cultures. The subsequent art and architecture that was created was a hybrid formed from the cultures coinhabiting the area. The Effects Of Social Inequality In The United States Seyedeh Elnaz Mirza Hosseini Los Angeles Pierce College Sociology 1 Professor Hoshiar Living in a society that does not help its people to live comfortably and provide facilities for them to achieve their demands, is harmful. One of these harmful affections is social inequality in each diverse society. Social inequality occurs when resources in each society are distributed unevenly, typically through norms of allocation, that engender specific patterns along lines of socially defined categories of persons. Teenagers are halfway to adulthood and are working on figuring out who they are and what kind people they re going to be. That inner battle surfaces when they act out and when they get emotional. We ve all been there. What s harder than being a teenager, however, is being a gay teenager. Gay teenagers have all of the regular teenage issues that they have to go through and then they have a little something extra to work out. Firstly, they can be trying to sort out if they are indeed gay. If they are then they have to figure out how to come out to people and if it s safe for them to do so. Will their parents reject them? It s a real possibility, unfortunately. How will their friends and neighbors treat them? These are all questions that they have to wrestle with, and that s a lot for anyone, let alone a teenager. This Dad s response after overhearing his son saying he wants to come out is the response that every gay kid should receive. Meet Nate Nate is a teenager who is dating a boy named Mike. We don t know too much about Nate, except that he s scared to come out to his parents and that he s on the phone with Mike discussing this. A Note On Different Relation Of Function Recursions with Folds Apart from using the recursion directly, fold is available to occur recursion scheme, which applies a function to data structure/Functor to manipulate its contents. Figure 1 The above illustrates the summary of different relation of function. Below we will focus on further explaining of how to isolate the recursions from the code in order to gain the benefit of convenience, which is easier to control, repair and further develop the code. In (inception) Fix (fixpoint) The whole idea if In and Fix is all about where the recursion of code performs in the data type, which isolate the recursion to a single spot, usually represented by parameter k. The Perils Of Obedience By Stanley Milgram In The Perils of Obedience, Stanley Milgram introduces us to his experimental studies on the conflict between one s own conscience and obedience to authority. From these experiments, Milgram discovered that a lot of people will obey a figure in authority; irrespective of the task given even if it goes against their own moral belief and values. Milgram s decision to conduct these experiments was to investigate the role of Adolf Eichmann (who played a major part in the Holocaust) and ascertain if his actions were based on the fact that he was just following orders; as most Germans accused of being guilty for war crimes commonly explained that they were only being obedient to persons in higher authority. Obedience to people in authority is a deep rooted trait that we all possess by virtue of our upbringing, and as Milgram put it, it is only the person dwelling in isolation who is not forced to respond, with defiance or submission, to the commands of others (Milgram 1974). This trait is exhibited every day in family circles, workplace and school. People are most likely to obey instructions from people they perceive their authority to be legal or moral.
