Camp Ford And Elemira Prison Essay
The civil war was a big part of The United States history. The country was split into two sides, The
North and The South. Within these sides, there were many different prison camps. Two of these
prison camps were called Camp Ford and Elmira Prison. These two camps had many similarities
and differences. Whereas Camp Ford and ElmiraPrisonare different such as their location and
their beliefs, they are also similar because of their conditions, prisoners inside the camp and, the
effect they have today. Camp Ford was located in Texas while, Elmira Prison was located in New
York. The Elmira Prison was established in May 1864. It was a Union prison Consequently,
Camp Ford was established in August 1863. This was a Confederate prison. The Elmira Prison
was built by the Chemung River. This river caused lots of sickness. Camp Ford was the largest

Elmira Prison is located close to Elmira Correctional Facility. This is a maximum security prison
for males. Camp Ford has added a park for its guest to play or eat while they learn about the
historical site. Both of these camps are a thriving business and have visitors from all over the
world every day. Outside of the camps, there are tombstones with the name of each prisoner as
well as their position that has died there. In conclusion, Camp Ford and Elmira Prison have made
a big impact on American history. These prison camps had caused distress for many people
involved in the civil war. It is amazing to see how similar prison camps are, even though they are
on different sides of the war. They are very similar but also very different. Whereas Camp Ford

Safety In The Giver
Measures are always being taken to ensure the safety of the people which makes the society in
which Jonas lives very safe. These measures are what makes the community a safe place to live
in. In the Giver written by Lois Lowry the society that is being shown is taking safety to another
level. The leaders of this society are doing everything they can to protect the citizens. When a jet
flew over the town the leaders did not hesitate to bring everyone to shelter. All of the citizens
were ordered to go to the nearest building and stay there (Lowry 2). This is just a jet and if we saw
one in the society we live in, nothing would be done to protect the citizens because it is not a big
deal. So we can already state this place is ten times safer

The Horror Of Horror Movies Essay
Horror isn t a Single Genre You re sitting in a dark room with your eyes glues to the television
screen, bowl of popcorn sitting loosely in your lap. On the screen is a dark shadowy figure
chasing a woman throughout a house and watching this scene is making your heart pound out
of your chest. This is the feeling you get when you typically watch a horror movie, you feel like
you re about to explode due to the tension on screen. There are many subgenres of horror movies
and it seems like most people lump them all in to one category, but today we won t be doing
that. We will be touching on various subgenres of the horror universe: slasher films, body horror,
giallo, and zombie films. Slasher films are frightfully delicious and when the genre comes to
mind all I can think about is a super predictable good time! Slasher films are, as said by Sarah
Trencansky, those horror movies that consist of a monster or maniac stalking and/or killing a
succession of people, usually teenagers (64). I couldn t have said it better myself. The slasher
genre is also riddled with a countless number of series such as the Hellraiser series, Nightmare
on Elmstreet, and the most notable, The Halloween series. A great example would be from
Halloween II when Michael Myers is on a killing spree inside of a desolate hospital late on
Halloween night. One of the nurses goes out in the parking lot to leave only to discover that every
vehicles tires have been slashed. The nurse then runs inside the

The Presentation Of The Team Members Who Come From...
Teamwork was a really grateful process and significant experience in my Managing Organizations
and People course study. The teamwork training was very memorable. After more than two weeks
of running, there are many impressive events that happened. From those events, I felt change and
also helped develop myself in some areas. In this reflection essay, the main purpose is to find out
whether I was suitable to my other three team members who come from different cultures and
backgrounds, whether I have good leadership skills and teamworkskills and my individual
performance reflective. Like Levi (2007) has said that work in today s society has become more
complex and includes more unconventional features and interdependence, it produced teamwork
out. So I will use the Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988) which incorporates description, feelings, evaluation,
analysis, conclusion and an action plan to discuss how our teamwork reflected on the case study,
prepare the group presentation and my individual performance reflective.
Description
Our team case context was provided by the classroom structure and professor. When we just got
our case topic, the boys of our team were really excited, but for girls who do not understand
football is really big bad news. At our first meeting, there were lots of difficulties occurring within
our team. I had no idea about what I can do; even I don t know the problem of the case, because
each of us was lack of communication, understanding and planning.

Humbert s The Hotel Mirana
At one of the darkest moments in Lolita, after Humbert s outburst of rage and violence toward
Lolita, the name of his father s hotel appears, causing Humbert to interrupt the description of his
and Lolita s sensual reconciliation with a parenthetical exclamation (Mirana!) (227). This decision
might strike the reader as strange due to its emphasis of a seemingly irrelevant detail. However, the
influence of Humbert s childhood home on his life in America is significant, though often subtle. In
the midst of the darkness of his remorse, hopelessness, and sobbing atonement after striking Lolita,
the two of them happen to stay at a motelof the same title as the HotelMirana. The name of the
Mirana generates a flash of light that offers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At a hobby museum in Mississippi, Humbert finds a collection of European hotel picture post
cards that happens to contain a photograph of the Mirana (155). While every other mention of
the Mirana is found in Humbert s mind or narration, subject to his fantasies and potentially faulty
memory, the idea of a photograph suggests a real world representation of the original, unaltered
Mirana Hotel. However, the colored photo is less authentic than it seems at first. The word
colored indicates an editing of the original photo (it didn t originate as a color photo ), and the
photo depicts retouched palm trees ; already, the credibility of this photograph is in doubt. In
addition, Humbert only gives a few details about the hotel in the picture: it has striped awnings
and a flag flying above the aforementioned palm trees. The combination of the editing of the photo
and this generic description casts doubt on its authenticity is it even the Mirana? Humbert s hot
wave of pride is no clear indication of the photo s validity; his mental perception of and fascination
with the Mirana is so strong that he could be projecting his unreal fantasy onto a photograph of
another European hotel. Though at first it has an intrinsic legitimacy, the photograph s accuracy is
quickly subverted and eroded by Humbert s distortion of reality. As a result, the

Impact Of Globalisation On Higher Education
Globalisation is the evolution of society which affect human life, education is one of those,
especially in postgraduate degrees which receive the most influence from globalisation. The
development in technologies and communication have produced a shift in learning system which
affect cultures and national economic growth. Higher educationsystems has been transformed by
globalisation, which is the widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness
(Held et al., 1999, p.14). When examining the impact of globalisation on higher educationall over
the world, the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon have been widely mentioned. Some
writers argue that globalisation has the destructive effect to the postgraduate system in developing
nations and non English speaking developed nations (Marginson, 2006). Although the downsides of
globalisation to higher education remain highly controversial, the occurrence of this phenomenon
could significantly encourage national universities and governments to develop their standard of
higher education which will benefit to students (Damme, 2001). Globalisation could increase
cultural exchange and multicultural reality as well. This article sets out to analyse critically the
overview of globalisation and how it has valuable effects to higher education in long terms.
There are a large number of definitions for Globalisation which could have different meaning for
different people. According to Knight (2001), it

Sch 31: Promote communication in health, social care or children s and young people s settings.
1.2 Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting. Communication plays a
massive part once building a relationship in the work setting. By regularly keeping effective
communication between practioners, parents/careers and children makes a positive working
environment. The relationships are mostly based on the type of communication between one
another, communication is not just by verbally but also the body language we show, facial
expressions and our gestures. Communication with children and young people is very important.

Not only do you talk to them but also the child will response, or even approach you first to
communicate; either for a general conversation or to ask a question. All children are different,
either it is by the way they re brought up, their culture, have different beliefs, and in the way they
communicate for example; English is an additional language. If you had a child in the nursery who
had English as a second language, and knew few words, verbally communicating with this child
wouldn t be the first thing you would do. There are loads of different ways to do this for example;
using picture cars with words, not only will this technique help communicate but also help build the
childs English vocabulary. Another being demonstrating, for example; in an activity, lets say gluing
and sticking, show the child what to do by demonstrating the activity for them to then copy your
actions. Communication is very important, not only with the child/ young person but also their
parents/ careers. Parents and careers need to be kept updated with everything that happens with
their child/children and information that they need to know about the nursery itself. The stronger
the relationship between the practioners and the parent/ career the stronger the trust the parents
/ careers have with their child/ children in your care. Information should be shared on a day to day
basis between the practioner and the parent/ career abpout everything that happens in the nursery.

Gun Autobiography
When I was born My step grandpa denny was a huge gun collector like his dad .I was the
grandson he had never had. When he found out he had stage 4 cancer. He decided put all his guns
except for two 44.magnum revolvers that went to his sons.
My parents decided since I was 1 year old that they would take three guns and put the rest in
storage. The guns they took were his most prized possessions. One of them was his dad s lever
action 22. Caliber winchester rifle. Another one was a rare golden browning auto 5 12 gauge
shotgun that could sell for a couple grand and last is his grandpa s old 12 gauge pump shotgun.
When I was a little older than five I went upstairs in the attic to play. One of my toys went under
the guest bed I looked underneath for the toy and saw two cases. I pulled one out that had the 22.
Caliber in it and decided to play with it. When my mom came upstairs to get me for lunch she saw
the gun screamed what are you doing. She than took the gun put back in it s case and put it back
under the bed. She said don t mess with these until you re older. So the next day I go back into
the attic and this time I get out the shotgun case out and take out the browning 5 auto and play

The 18th Century And Colonial America
The 18th Century in colonial America was a time of change, both within the continent of North
America and from the Old World that was Europe. Ever since the establishment of some of the first
colonies, colonists viewed themselves as such: colonists. However, as the 17th Century passes into
the 18th, and as the new century went on, colonists viewed themselves as something else:
Americans. These Americans developed new beliefs that alienated themselves from their fellow
Europeans, and as war escalated between France and Great Britain, this feeling was reaffirmed
when these Americans came together to defend their colonies. Nonetheless, this sense of unity and
self identity would not stop after the conclusion of the Seven Year s War, but it

These changes in basic language between the people of England shows that Americans in general
were changing from their origins as they adapted to America, and these developments made the
colonists develop a sense of difference and identity. Major reasons for those to make the journey to
the New World was for them to make a fresh start and gain material wealth through land, an option
not available for those in Europe. North America was seen as a goldmine for making vast fortunes,
and it attracted so many to its shores. Everyone saw this as an equal chance to make a living, for
North America and the colonies promoted a sense of egalitarian and individualistic values in
emigrating Europeans. Edmund Burke, an English Whig, was able to recognize these changing
traits and values in colonists. In a desperate expression to halt the Stamp Act, he said to
Parliament Is there a single Trait of Resemblance between those few Towns, and a great and
growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe. This politician was able to recognize that
Americans in general were vastly different from Englishmen, for this can be contributed to their
new views of equality and an individual being able to change their life for the better (Document B).
Another thing that colonists Americanized was their government. Although their assemblies and
governors could be seen as nearly exact replicas of the English, the

Melting Temperature Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment is to observe what happens when heat is taken away from pdB
and added to it, and to determine the melting/freezing points of the pdB. Our group did this by
heating up the pdB in a bunsen burner until it completely phase changed into liquid. Then, we
placed the test tube containing liquid pdB in cool tap water recording the temperatures of both the
water and the pdB every 30 seconds until they were within 3В°C of each other. After, we placed a
test tube containing frozen solidpdB in hot tap water recording the temperatures of the pdB and
the water every 30 seconds until they were within 3В°C of each other. To finish the experiment,
we graphed our data in one graph. The graph showed, and also what we observed in the lab, that
when the water and the pdB were close to being within 3В°C of each other, there were signs... Show

This means that the solid pdB and the liquid pdB phase changed at 330 to 420 seconds because
during a phase change, the temperature of the substance always remains constant, thus why melting
point and freezing point is the same temperature. Although temperature remains constant in a phase
change, it does not necessarily indicate one; the water day #1 curve had the temperature (x)
remained constant the whole experiment, but there was no phase change when we observed it in
the lab. The graph makes us able to estimate the time when the pdB and the water reach temperature
equilibrium, which is when two different temperature substances touch each other and the hotter
one (heat source) releases its heat into the cooler one (heat sink) until the temperatures become the
same (the total heat released from from heat source should equal the total heat gained by the heat
sink). When the temperature of the two day #1 curves or the two day #2 curves intersect is when
they have reached temperature equilibrium; their temperatures will be the

Kiss Research Paper
I chose to do my review on the most entertaining band to ever perform on stage. Even today it
still shocks me every time I watch one of their old performances on YouTube. This band is Kiss
no one can entertain the way Kiss did in the 70 s. As a band they brought a great amount of
energy and excitement to the crowd. I chose to review them to learn more about their history and
style that they used. Kiss is a hard rock band that formed in 1973 by Paul Stanley and Gene
Simmons. The band started in New York City, New York. They started the band because the two
were both working dead end jobs and wanted to change up their life. They found this change in

To His Coy Mistress And To The Virgins
Carpe diem is when the author makes the reader understand that they are trying to tell them to
live to their fullest. In both To His Coy Mistress and To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time the
author mentions how they should live like it s their last day and to make the best out of it. Also
beauty takes a big role in both poems and how one day it will fade, so for them to take advantage
of it now before it fades. In To His Coy Mistress it s about a guy trying to conquer the loveof a
mistress. He tells her how much time he will wait for her and his love will endure forever as
long as she is with him. Later the tone changes and it s when carpe diem takes place. He starts to
say that they don t have all the time in the world and that one day all this will end. He points out
that beauty one day will end and that she should take the advantage of being with him now that
she is young and beautiful and not waiting till she s old and wrinkly. Also he mentions her
virginity and says that she should have sexual intercourse before she dies because if she dies as
a virgin it s the same thing as doing it while being alive because worms will still get inside her
and eat all her remains. He wants to be with her, and would ve waited a long time to get what he

Business School At Washington University Essay
Describe your interest in entrepreneurship. Please include any past experiences in innovation and
entrepreneurship:
Ever since I was a young child I always wanted to create the next newest and biggest invention.
For example, when I found out the creator of Jibits for crocs (those small plastic accessories that
go into the holes of crocs sold her company to crocs for millions of dollars. It was such a simple
idea, but also so creative and innovative. I was hooked on the idea of creating a product and
starting my own company from that point forward.
While I have not had any success yet in creating my own company, I hope to in the future. This past
summer I studied abroad in Israel through Olin Business School at Washington University in St.
Louis program. This program, Israel Summer Business Academy was a six week program
focused entrepreneurship and innovation. While in Israel, we took classes from both American
and Israeli professors. Within groups during the second half of the program, we created a product
to pitch to the rest of the class. This pitch had to include a minimum viable product, budget
decisions and adverting decisions among a multitude of things. While we were creating our own
products, we visited various Israeli startup companies like wix.com or ReWalk. We also visited
incubators and venture capital firms that fund various startups in Israel. Being that Israel is known

According to the article entitled Pleasure and Happiness by Aristotle, there are several points of

article happiness as belonging to the class of activities which are desirable in themselves and not

Joshua was the successor of Moses chosen by God, and God definitely knew what he was doing
with Joshua! While Joshua is not the most famous part of the Bible, most people know he fought
the Battle of Jericho. Thanks to his devotion and obedience towards God, he won the battle and
claimed the Promised Land. Joshua did great things for the glory of God, so he should always be
remembered as the hero he was. Joshua was born in Egypt prior to Exodus, in the year 1355 BC.
Joshua was very similar to Mosesthroughout his life. When he was born, he was hidden to hide

Library Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
According to Metzger. M.C (2006), Academic Libraries continually adapt to the technological
advances and administrative challenges that follow . The staff plays an important role between the
information and the users. The staff being professional, or paraprofessional should possess the
knowledge of online databases, knowledge of all web features etc. Besides that, the systems may
get updated, replaced regularly and hence learning new or upgraded online resources must be an
integral part of every position in the library (Eells. L.L, Jaguszewski, J.M, 2008). I would like to
take Academic libraries as the Library setting.
There are many disadvantages that arise when the Librarians are not aware of the technical
knowledge in the academic libraries. In 1994, though there are computers, Librarians used to
function without the basic understanding of computers in the campuses. The presence of the
internet on campus was not supported by training programs or manuals. Along with the
technological advancements, Library staff came to know the importance of adapting themselves to
technology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Economic Aspects Associated With Globalization
Quoted by the Financial Times as the integration of economies, industries, markets, cultures and
policy making around the world , globalisation has thrived in recent years owing to developments
in communication, transportation and trade, accompanied by the enhancement and increased use
of information technology. Whilst at first glance this could be regarded as beneficial, it has
nonetheless provoked a number of high profile and often violent protests of late. Notably the
biggest anti globalisation demonstration ever experienced was in Seattle in 1999 involving 40,000
activists (BBC News). Globalisation has a multitude of different facets, ranging from the worlds of
research and health, to media and technology. This essay however, will look at the economic

protests. Contrastingly, it will also look at the benefits of this increase in interconnectivity
examining how a rise in business wealth will allow others to share the benefits. One of the
obvious benefits of globalisation is the increase in free trade throughout the world and the affect
this has on consumers. Temin (1999) recognised that when the General Agreement on Tariffs and
Trade (GATT) was initiated, it proved to be the initial trigger in the reduction and removal of
barriers to trade. With increasing market access as a result of globalisation, Countries have taken

Theme Of Conformism In Fahrenheit 451
Correspondingly, in Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury notably brings out the hybrid character in Montag
during his transformation from a conformist to a non conformist. Assuming his role as a conformist
at the initial part of the story, Montag became a hybrid when he started to think, an action that was
strictly banned by the Government. However, his pursuit for knowledge and books resulted in the
eventual loss of his job, wife and friends , and himself being hunted down by the authorities.
Nevertheless, his depart from the society allowed him to join forces with the intellectuals to rebuild
and create a more equalitarian society where knowledge could exist, eliminating the initial societal
divide between intellectuals and ignorant that caused... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The future dystopian society was controlled by Skynet and robots and humans had to go into hiding
for safety. Superiority and inferiority due to unequal power distribution is evidently seen through
the cleanliness of their home environment. Robots resided in high rise buildings where advanced
technology ensured that everything was in neat and order. On the contrary, humans lived in
underground shelters where sanitation was at its worst state. Society of the past is much similar to
the current society where human race existed. As a robot, Guardian was supposed to stay in the
future society where its race was dominating, but it existed in society of the past, where there was
only acceptance of human identity. Due to cultural hegemony of the society where only human
race existed, Guardian was masked by a human skin to gain acceptance by the society. The fact that
Guardian was masked off from its original identity shows the initial rejection of its identity in
society of the past. In addition, Guardian continued to face rejection in the future society when it
lived differently from other robots. Unlike other robots that resided in clean environment, Guardian
lived in a dirty, polluted

The Effects of the Female Characters Departure in both A...
In both A Doll s House and Like Water for Chocolate Henrik Ibsen and Laura Esquival

While Gertrudis in Like Water for Chocolate leaves her house in her own endeavor to escape
Mama Elena s repression. Bothe Ibsen and Esquival make use of a variety of literary devices and
styles in order to show to the readers/audience the effect the departure of Nora and Gertrudis has on

She points out to Torvald that their marriage was a clear failure when she questions Torvald,
How could you ever teach me to be a proper wife? Your wife? (Ibsen 82). To this question Torvald
is unable to provide a reasonable answer hence proving Nora s point about the failure of their
marriage. Further, the sudden change in Nora s behavior during the second half of the play is
significant as it symbolizes her clear intent to depart from the house in search of her inner self.
The egression of one of the female protagonists from each of the works has a profound effect of
the other characters and their development. The departure of Gertrudis is met with both extreme
anger and sadness opposite emotions. Mama Elena s reaction to Gertrudis elopement is one of
absolute outrage. She in a way almost disowns Gertrudis by burned [burning] Gertrudis birth
certificate (Esquival 55) and claiming that she didn t want to hear her name mentioned ever
again. (Esquival 55) The diction of the sentence and the usage of the word ever are significant as
it shows the extent of Mama Elena s rage and disavowal towards Gertrudis. At the other end of
things, it is clearly evident to the reader that Tita is sad and dissolutioned by Gertrudis exit as Tita
saw Gertrudis rebellious tendencies towards her mother as a fulfillment of her own desires to rebel
against her tyrannical mother. On the other hand, in A Doll s House, the reaction of Torvald varies

The And Public Health Policies
For years, it has been assumed by the vast majority of health care experts that everyone knows the
guiding principle of ethics in healthcare. Everyone agrees that this guiding principle has the solid
endorsement of the majority of the population. These presumptions are accepted with almost no
contention or debate. In Justice in Medicineand Public Health, Rosamund Rhodes argues that no
single conception of justice explains the array of broadly endorsed medical and public health
policies. This thought challenges the classical approach of defining or defending one accurate
view of justice in medicine. There are many different views of justice in health care that have
been developed and debated. However, it is clear that no one view of the distribution of the scarce
resources and services fits every situation. Aristotle defined justice as giving each his due. While
this thought has its fans, others prefer a more idealistic view of justice in the field of health care.
One of these philosophies, utilitarianism, defines justice as policies and procedures that produce the
best outcomes. During times of emergency, it is acceptable for health professionals to practice
triage medicine. The practice of triage medicine represents the goal of avoiding the worst outcomes
and not the utilitarian view of the best possible outcome. Furthermore, the aim of public health
research is to collect information that may or may not be useful. The quest to gather information

A Day To Remember November 22, 1963
A Day to Remember November 22, 1963 started off as any other day in the Simon household:
Mary Ann got up, went to feed the animals and grab some breakfast before heading to work at
the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service Office. A normal day at work consists of
working with farmers. She would have to record which fields had corn, soybeans, wheat, or
nothing. She would also record how many acres of each crop was planted in which field. Around
noon, she took her thirty minute lunch break and came back to an unimaginable scene on the TV.
She and her coworkers saw a scene on TV that can t be unlived. The scene she saw was the
shooting of the beloved President John F. Kennedy. At 12:30 p.m., c.s.t., the president s limo

She thought that Lee Harvey Oswald did the whole act alone, but it is also a big conspiracy

someone else somewhere in this tragedy. The main person of interest at the time was Lee
Harvey because of his troublesome past as well as five very convincing pieces of evidence. The
rifle used was purchased under Oswalds name, his palmprint was on the rifle, the fibers from the

Drug Addiction Is A Huge Problem Essay
Over the recent years, we have seen a sharp incline of drug related overdose here in Flordia.
Although we have heard about some new and still developing preventative approaches, treatments,
legislations and the possibility of drug consumption facilities here in Florida addiction is still a
huge problem. Especially with stronger drugs such as fentanyl being used to cut heroinor sold as
heroin. Furthermore, there s a need to address the underlying issues from addictionsuch as
depression, A.D.H.D, and chronic pain. Ultimately addiction can happen to anyone; a person does
not just wake up one day and decide to do drugs. Something happens to them whether its an
accident and the person is prescribed prescription drugs for pain, peer pressure or many other ways
it can happen to anyone. Which is there is a need for strengthening interventions with the aim of
reducing deaths caused by drug overdose in Florida
Drug addiction rehabilitation centers are a huge money maker here in the United States. Sadly,
when a user is trying to get clean, the doctors prescribe addicts other drugs to help them detox.
However, how often do these addicts stay off drugs? Even worse, how many die from a drug
overdose because all the treatment just doesn t work? There is a need for strengthening
interventions with the aim of reducing deaths caused by drug overdose in Florida. There is no

A simple intranet consists of an internal email system and perhaps a message board service. More
sophisticated intranets include Web sites and databases containing company news, forms, and

An extranet is a computer network that allows controlled access from the outside for specific

the company to conduct any number of tasks behind a password protected area. A common
application of an extranet is a partner area where partners and resellers can download sales

Antigone And Creon Analysis
The dramatic play Antigone that Sophocles had formulated, carries out a complex and increasingly
suspenseful plot. Creon, the king of Thebes, establishes a law that deprives Polynices, one of the
two brothers that had died fighting for his rightful seat on the throne, a proper burial due to the
attack of his own city. In response, Polynices sister Antigonedefies this law behind Creons back and
is as a consequence, sentenced to death. Yet, Creon s judgements ultimately lead to his downfall as
he loses all things significant to him in life. Thus, the characters of Antigone and Creon within
Sophoclesplay find themselves in a conflict between their own conceivement of the law, which
mirror the conflict between the divine and state. What Sophocles intends to convey within the
tragic conclusion of both characters is the individuality of law and the correlating misconception
that a wrong or right can be established within its definition.
In constructing the mindsets of Creon and Antigone, whose complexity becomes a backbone to the
intricacy of the play as a whole, Sophocles utilizes both their actions and the dialogue of the
mediators to reveal the treatment and perception of their own preconceived laws. According to
Sam Meisner from the fishbowl discussion, Antigone s sister and Creon s son Haemon acted as the
voices of reason within the plot as both worked to reveal the hidden faults of the favored laws, thus
dubbing them the mediators between the two extremes of the

Women In Vietnamese History
I have always admired the women in Vietnamese history that stood up for the right of the country.
Although Vietnam has always been a paternal country ever since the beginning of time, there has
been many cases of women in dynasties before that fought for the independent like Hai Ba Trung
sisters. These women were inspirational to both my grandmother and me. Grandma was born to a
middle class familyin Hue, the old capital of Vietnambefore the Anti France Resistance War. She
was protective of her family even at a young age, my great grandfather, a kindergarten teacher,
being taken away by the French. She took care of both her siblings and brought food to jail

Women had been involved in the war, for the most part, such as carrying and transporting heavy
weapons to the remote frontline, they also were imprisoned, tortured, murdered by the enemies. My
grandmother told me about the time where she could not be able to do anything about her friend s
situation. She was executed in front of my grandma for taking a stand against the French soldiers. It
imprinted on her mind of how cruelty the war were. The liberation force created programs for
educating women, liberating women, and making them warriors during the war. My grandmother
was one of the former youth volunteers in northern Vietnam. Her patriotism is the main reason she
chose to volunteer to go to war. A young womanat age 21 took to the jungle and joined the
guerrilla struggle, specializing in mixing acid, alcohol, and a few other ingredients to make
gunpowder. She did tasks that were meant for men, her empowerment and her knowledge got her to

Separation Of Church And State In The Middle Ages
Throughout time the relationship between church and state has been changing. Church and state
should have absolute separation. In the middle ages, the pope was essentially the king, and that
ended in drama between popes and actual kings, as well as the line between politics and religion
being blurred. Church should not be involved in state because the church leader is then at
significant risk of devaluing one or the other, and state should not be involved in church as it was
during Charlemagne s time.
In the middle ages the church and the state were very much related. The church was less related to
religion than it was to government. Religion in the middle ages was related to politics, so rather
than the leader of a faith, the pope was more like a king; he supposedly possessed the power to
send people to hell by excommunicating them if they displeased him. The pope was the leader of
the church, and also the leader of essentially everything else; he had the final say in all matters.
There was a conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mixing the two never works because they are meant to stay separate. John 18:36 says, My
kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight,
that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. The pope, or
any other church leader is an official appointed by God through his children to lead his kingdom
on earth. God s Holy Bible clearly states that earth is not God s kingdom; earth is fallen and
wicked; the world is the devil s kingdom. Therefore God s appointed officials should not try to
rule Satan s kingdom. This does not mean, however, that it is sinful to get involved in politics,
instead that Ministers and Holy men should not attempt to occupy both positions for risk of losing
track of the line that separates religion and politics and slip back into a papic dictatorship as in the

Essay on William Shakespeare s Henry IV
William Shakespeare s Henry IV
In Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 2, the brilliant playwright introduces us to several complex and
intricate themes, clever language, and a fascinating cast of multifaceted characters, including the
thief Jack Falstaff, who may be as wise as his belly is big, and the young Prince Hal, who
conceals his shrewd mind and physical prowess beneath a soiled reputation for unthrifty behavior.
Perhaps the most dynamic character of the play is Hotspur, or Henry Percy, the idealistic rebel
warrior, and Hal s rival for power, glory, and the throne. Although the public perceives him to be just
an intense, hotheaded he man, Hotspur actually has many different dimensions to his personality.

how to pinch and gall this Bullingbrook , and as for Prince Hal I would have him poisoned with a

with battle and revenge, but Hotspur s father refers to his attitude, his rashness and inability to

stereotypical warrior man. Prince Hal s opinion of Hotspur, and thus of his macho image, takes
the idea of masculinity to its extreme. Hal sees him as a skilled warrior, yet also one who is too
intense, serious, and arrogant, and who seems to care primarily about himself, the very epitome of
masculinity in its negative form. Hal projects this public image he has of Hotspur onto the man s

If you answered yes to more than three of these questions then leasing may be for you. But

negative to leasing is that at the end of your lease term you must decide whether to turn in the

decision because neither decision is easy. If you turn it in, you have to get it inspected for any

I think I am a very patient person, and to me I think patience is extremely important when it
comes to teaching someone knowledge, especially if they find it challenging or boring. I also
have the passion of energy to teach, which is also important as if the teacher is excited to teach,
then the student wouldn t be bored. A recent example if my teacher my friends sister maths. At
the start, I became very annoyed and irritated as it was my first time, but as I gave her more and
more lessons, the initial sense of annoyance became a passionate and proud feeling. Every time
she did well in a maths test, I would also feel really good as I think that i have contributed to her

The Automatic Millionaire Book Report
Alan Haynes
Mr. Millard
Economics
November 5, 2014
The Automatic Millionaire Book Report In David Bach s book The Automatic Millionaire, he
reveals to readers a plan that could help them prosper in life financially and retire early without
any financial stress. In the first chapter of his book his introduces to us the McIntyres, a normal
married couple looking to retire early. After talking to the couple, Bach discovers that this is no
regular couple financially. He finds out that this couple owns two homes without any mortgages,
have absolutely no debt and have a net worth of almost two million dollars. He then investigates
why this is so. He finds that the McIntyres have some guidelines that help them. They have goals
instead of budgets, they pay themselves first, watch their latte factor or spending and make their
savings automatic. Chapter 2 describes the latte factor. The latte factor is a term that is used to
describe the unnecessary spending habits that everyone does. Over time these small purchases add
up. Bach gives some tips on how to control it; write down what you spend for a week and see what
you can eliminate from your purchases. With those purchases, instead of spending your money on
them, use the money to put into a savings account. Five dollars a day in a good money market
account with a 10% annual return would add up to $339,073 in 30 years. The latte factor is to help
people realize that they make enough to spend. In chapter 3, Bach gives us

1. Michael J Saylor was the Chairman of MicroStrategy had committed fraud in reporting profits
when the company was actually losing money. Mr. Saylor settled the civil charges that were filed
in federal court in Washington without admitting or denying them and agreed to pay $8.3 million
to shareholders and a $350,000 penalty to the S.E.C. I think that 8.3 million dollars to the
shareholders is a lot of money to be paid. I do not agree with this price. Since he was the
Chairman of the company, I think he should have not committed fraud. I know he did not want his
company to collapse, but he still should have not committed fraud. I do agree with the 350,000
penalty to the S.E.C. I think that price is not too bad.

I do not agree with this sentence. I think Houvan should have served time for this crime because
35,000 is a lot of money also Houman forged signatures to get the money. So, I think Houvan
should at least get 2 years in prison for this crime.
4. Kathryn Harmon was owner, president, CEO, financial aid director, bookkeeper, and medical
instructor for the college of Allied Health. In the Case involving Harmon and Case, an
investigation showed that the College of Allied Health received allocations of more than 1.7
million in Pell Grant funding to distribute to its students. The investigation revealed that more
than 1.4 million had been fraudulently obtained by the school. Harmon, Case and other Co
conspirators forged and created documents and submitted fraudulent grant applications to the US
department of education for non existent or non eligible students. A portion of the 1.4 million
was used to pay salaries and operating expenses and the rest was used for their own personal use.
Some of the funds were spent on jewelry, real estate, furniture, and an automobile. Harmon and
Case was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 250,000 in fines. I do not agree with this sentence, I
think they should have gotten 10 years for what they had done because 1.4 million is a lot of
money to be stolen. Also, they were not supposed to use the money to pay salaries and operating
expenses that money was supposed to go to the students enrolled

Essay On Ports And Terminal
3.3 Port and Terminal A port is defined as an area on both land and water, whether on the sea or
river, that provides facilities for shipping vessels to load and unload their cargo. This area,
contained within port limits , will have been established over years of increasing or declining
trade patterns and therefore is defined as the human set limits . There may be several harbors and
/or terminals within the port limits. While a terminal is defined as a single man made facility that
may have several berths, that handles vessels and possibly more than one type of vessel or cargo.
The rapid growth of international and local trade in Maritime sector underline the importance of
ports and terminal in connecting the ship with the land to move the people or cargo. Ports and
terminal are recognized as vital contributors in facilitating Malaysias trade. Since Malaysia is a
nation surrounded by a sea area much larger than its land mass, development towards ports and
terminal is essential in providing an excellent infrastructures and facilities to traders.

era as a maritime power in the 15th century, with the port in Melaka becoming a focal point for

Towards meeting this objective, the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister s
Department commissioned a study in 1987 to draw up a blueprint for a national port policy. The
study, outlining policy recommendations and action plans to enhance the growth and development
of ports in the country, set the pace for rapid port development in the country. Central to the policy
was port privatization and the establishment of a national load centre featuring modern terminal

King Lear Nature
The concept of nature has become layered with many complexities due to the numerous ways the
word can be interpreted. It could mean anything from the inherent character or basic constitution of
a person or thing to the external world in its entirety to a spontaneous attitude (Merriam Webster).
However, despite its many forms, in its essence, nature as a concept implicates powerlessness for
individuals. It will always be something that is beyond human control, whether it be the forces that
work around people such as weather or animals, or the innate and uncontrollable characteristics
within one s personality. Nature has control over the world, and one can decide to either fight this
authority or succumb to it. This idea is seen very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this play, words function as a mask that characters hide behind, while actions show their true
intentions. Accordingly, after the daughters who have no deep love for their father profess their
affection for him in a mendacious display of emotion, the daughter that loves Lear most,
Cordelia, refuses to compliment him, claiming she cannot heave [her] heart into [her mouth]
(1.1.88 89). She decides to rely on the actions of her past to reveal her affections, however, Lear
has yet to accept the value of honesty, so he rails against his youngest daughter exclaiming Let it
be so! Thy truth then be thy dower ...here I disclaim all my paternal care, propinquity and
property of blood, and as a stranger to my heart and me hold thee from this forever. (1.1.110
115). Both Lear s strong reaction and his rejection of truth and honesty reflect his own
insecurities and inability to divulge his genuine nature. Having lived his whole life like a
performance on stage, he feels threatened by Cordelia s rejection of a false grandeur which Lear,
whether he realizes it or not, sees as a personal attack against his own fabricated identity.
Consequently, lashing out from his jealousy for Cordelia s ability to remain true to herself, Lear
acts against his better judgment by banishing her, and foreshadows the ironic trajectory of this story.
As the play progresses, King Lear transcends from a point of supreme power to the lowest and most

Unemployment During The Great Depression Essay
Unemployment Unemployment during the Great Depression was severe. In as early as 1933, the
fourth year of the Great Depression, the unemployment rate was almost 25 percent, which means
more than eleven million people were out of work. The unemployment rate was lower in states like
Michigan and Ohio, which had plenty of jobs dependant on massive industries. However,
Washington was hit hard, where one third of Washington was unemployed in early 1933. Some
factors that also caused unemployment were the collapse of the stock market, drought conditions
which destroyed agriculture, and deflation in prices. Businesses shut down and Government
guarantees did nothing, and unemployment increased since alternative job sources were not
available.

18 million people were already assisted by private charities from state governments and local
governments. However, in 1933, when 13 million people were thrown out of work, state and
local governmental charities could no longer provide even the bare minimum for people. Food
riots erupted, husbands and fathers began abandoning their families, and 20% of the nation s
children had poor housing, poor medical care, and were malnourished. Franklin Delano Roosevelt
expanded federal responsibility for all American people, and in 1935, signed the Social Security
Act, a national welfare system, which promised a third of the total amount spent by states would
go to dependent children under 16. Additional federal welfare was provided to the elderly and
crippled. During the great depression, this welfare helped the less fortunate. Since the great

Cortical Dementia
There are categories of brain dementia, which are cortical and subcortical. Subcortical dementia is
marked by motor disruption. An example of subcortical dementia would be parkinson s disease.
On the other hand, Alzheimer s is an example of cortical dementia, which as previously
established is marked by memory loss. Although Alzheimer s is classified as cortical dementia, it
eventually destroys cells in all four lobes of the brainthus resulting in motor disruption as well. The
ventricles, the fluid filled spaces in the brain begin to enlarge as the disease develops. The
symptoms of memory loss and impaired cognitive functioning in Alzheimer s disease can be
attributed to damage in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. The earliest detection

England. When the Pilgrims landed their ships at Plymouth Rock in the year 1621, they needed the
help of the neighboring Native Americans to learn how to plant crops and grow food. After they
had completed their first harvest, the Pilgrims had a feast with the Indians (Native Americans) to
celebrate their friendships. This was called The First Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is still celebrated
every year on the fourth Thursday of November, usually with a feast of turkey, stuffing, corn,
mashed potatoes and other foods. A favorite

African American Males And Capital Punishment
African American Males and Capital Punishment We simply cannot say we live in a country that
offers equal justice to all Americans when racial disparities plague the system by which our society
imposes the ultimate punishment. (Senator Russ Feingold, 2003). It has been proven that death
sentencing across the USA is determined by the raceof the victim and race of the defendant. In
1990, there was a report from the General Accounting office which concluded that those who
murdered whites were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks.
(Focus, 2003) This injustice amongst us are because people are scared and don t know. They don t
know whether a black man is pulling out a gun, their phone, wallet, etc. So just to remain safe, they
retaliate by killing our men. Society has grown to function on the fear of black men. Capitalism and
the imprisonment of black peoplehave become profitable. They ve made a big business to just
imprison black men. Black men are inheritably a threat to the capitalist structure of America, it
protects their money, their politics, and their society. James Eagan Holmes, a 26 year old male
from San Diego California, is the accused perpetrator of a mass shooting that killed 12 and
murdered 70 people at a Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, on July 20, 2012 during the
midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises (Wikipedia, n.d.) On March 12, 2013, a Colorado
judge entered a plea of not guilty when Holmes s attorney

These measures are what makes the community a safe place to live in. In the Giver written by Lois Lowry the society that is being shown is taking safety to another level. The leaders of this society are doing everything they can to protect the citizens. When a jet flew over the town the leaders did not hesitate to bring everyone to shelter. All of the citizens were ordered to go to the nearest building and stay there (Lowry 2). This is just a jet and if we saw one in the society we live in, nothing would be done to protect the citizens because it is not a big deal. So we can already state this place is ten times safer ... • 4. The Horror Of Horror Movies Essay Horror isn t a Single Genre You re sitting in a dark room with your eyes glues to the television screen, bowl of popcorn sitting loosely in your lap. On the screen is a dark shadowy figure chasing a woman throughout a house and watching this scene is making your heart pound out of your chest. This is the feeling you get when you typically watch a horror movie, you feel like you re about to explode due to the tension on screen. There are many subgenres of horror movies and it seems like most people lump them all in to one category, but today we won t be doing that. We will be touching on various subgenres of the horror universe: slasher films, body horror, giallo, and zombie films. Slasher films are frightfully delicious and when the genre comes to mind all I can think about is a super predictable good time! Slasher films are, as said by Sarah Trencansky, those horror movies that consist of a monster or maniac stalking and/or killing a succession of people, usually teenagers (64). I couldn t have said it better myself. The slasher genre is also riddled with a countless number of series such as the Hellraiser series, Nightmare on Elmstreet, and the most notable, The Halloween series. A great example would be from Halloween II when Michael Myers is on a killing spree inside of a desolate hospital late on Halloween night. One of the nurses goes out in the parking lot to leave only to discover that every vehicles tires have been slashed. The nurse then runs inside the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Presentation Of The Team Members Who Come From... Teamwork was a really grateful process and significant experience in my Managing Organizations and People course study. The teamwork training was very memorable. After more than two weeks of running, there are many impressive events that happened. From those events, I felt change and also helped develop myself in some areas. In this reflection essay, the main purpose is to find out whether I was suitable to my other three team members who come from different cultures and backgrounds, whether I have good leadership skills and teamworkskills and my individual performance reflective. Like Levi (2007) has said that work in today s society has become more complex and includes more unconventional features and interdependence, it produced teamwork out. So I will use the Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988) which incorporates description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan to discuss how our teamwork reflected on the case study, prepare the group presentation and my individual performance reflective. Description Our team case context was provided by the classroom structure and professor. When we just got our case topic, the boys of our team were really excited, but for girls who do not understand football is really big bad news. At our first meeting, there were lots of difficulties occurring within our team. I had no idea about what I can do; even I don t know the problem of the case, because each of us was lack of communication, understanding and planning. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Humbert s The Hotel Mirana At one of the darkest moments in Lolita, after Humbert s outburst of rage and violence toward Lolita, the name of his father s hotel appears, causing Humbert to interrupt the description of his and Lolita s sensual reconciliation with a parenthetical exclamation (Mirana!) (227). This decision might strike the reader as strange due to its emphasis of a seemingly irrelevant detail. However, the influence of Humbert s childhood home on his life in America is significant, though often subtle. In the midst of the darkness of his remorse, hopelessness, and sobbing atonement after striking Lolita, the two of them happen to stay at a motelof the same title as the HotelMirana. At a hobby museum in Mississippi, Humbert finds a collection of European hotel picture post cards that happens to contain a photograph of the Mirana (155). While every other mention of the Mirana is found in Humbert s mind or narration, subject to his fantasies and potentially faulty memory, the idea of a photograph suggests a real world representation of the original, unaltered Mirana Hotel. However, the colored photo is less authentic than it seems at first. The word colored indicates an editing of the original photo (it didn t originate as a color photo ), and the photo depicts retouched palm trees ; already, the credibility of this photograph is in doubt. In addition, Humbert only gives a few details about the hotel in the picture: it has striped awnings and a flag flying above the aforementioned palm trees. The combination of the editing of the photo and this generic description casts doubt on its authenticity is it even the Mirana? Humbert s hot wave of pride is no clear indication of the photo s validity; his mental perception of and fascination with the Mirana is so strong that he could be projecting his unreal fantasy onto a photograph of another European hotel. Though at first it has an intrinsic legitimacy, the photograph s accuracy is quickly subverted and eroded by Humbert s distortion of reality. As a result, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Impact Of Globalisation On Higher Education Globalisation is the evolution of society which affect human life, education is one of those, especially in postgraduate degrees which receive the most influence from globalisation. The development in technologies and communication have produced a shift in learning system which affect cultures and national economic growth. Higher educationsystems has been transformed by globalisation, which is the widening, deepening and speeding up of worldwide interconnectedness (Held et al., 1999, p.14). When examining the impact of globalisation on higher educationall over the world, the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon have been widely mentioned. Some writers argue that globalisation has the destructive effect to the postgraduate system in developing nations and non English speaking developed nations (Marginson, 2006). Although the downsides of globalisation to higher education remain highly controversial, the occurrence of this phenomenon could significantly encourage national universities and governments to develop their standard of higher education which will benefit to students (Damme, 2001). Globalisation could increase cultural exchange and multicultural reality as well. This article sets out to analyse critically the overview of globalisation and how it has valuable effects to higher education in long terms. There are a large number of definitions for Globalisation which could have different meaning for different people. According to Knight (2001), it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Communication plays a massive part once building a relationship in the work setting. By regularly keeping effective communication between practioners, parents/careers and children makes a positive working environment. The relationships are mostly based on the type of communication between one another, communication is not just by verbally but also the body language we show, facial expressions and our gestures. If you had a child in the nursery who had English as a second language, and knew few words, verbally communicating with this child wouldn t be the first thing you would do. There are loads of different ways to do this for example; using picture cars with words, not only will this technique help communicate but also help build the childs English vocabulary. Ever since the establishment of some of the first colonies, colonists viewed themselves as such: colonists. However, as the 17th Century passes into the 18th, and as the new century went on, colonists viewed themselves as something else: Americans. These Americans developed new beliefs that alienated themselves from their fellow Europeans, and as war escalated between France and Great Britain, this feeling was reaffirmed when these Americans came together to defend their colonies. These changes in basic language between the people of England shows that Americans in general were changing from their origins as they adapted to America, and these developments made the colonists develop a sense of difference and identity. Major reasons for those to make the journey to the New World was for them to make a fresh start and gain material wealth through land, an option not available for those in Europe. North America was seen as a goldmine for making vast fortunes, and it attracted so many to its shores. Everyone saw this as an equal chance to make a living, for North America and the colonies promoted a sense of egalitarian and individualistic values in emigrating Europeans. Edmund Burke, an English Whig, was able to recognize these changing traits and values in colonists. In a desperate expression to halt the Stamp Act, he said to Parliament Is there a single Trait of Resemblance between those few Towns, and a great and growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe. This politician was able to recognize that Americans in general were vastly different from Englishmen, for this can be contributed to their new views of equality and an individual being able to change their life for the better (Document B). Another thing that colonists Americanized was their government. Although their assemblies and governors could be seen as nearly exact replicas of the English, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Melting Temperature Lab Report The purpose of this experiment is to observe what happens when heat is taken away from pdB and added to it, and to determine the melting/freezing points of the pdB. Our group did this by heating up the pdB in a bunsen burner until it completely phase changed into liquid. Then, we placed the test tube containing liquid pdB in cool tap water recording the temperatures of both the water and the pdB every 30 seconds until they were within 3В°C of each other. After, we placed a test tube containing frozen solidpdB in hot tap water recording the temperatures of the pdB and the water every 30 seconds until they were within 3В°C of each other. The graph makes us able to estimate the time when the pdB and the water reach temperature equilibrium, which is when two different temperature substances touch each other and the hotter one (heat source) releases its heat into the cooler one (heat sink) until the temperatures become the same (the total heat released from from heat source should equal the total heat gained by the heat sink). M.C (2006), Academic Libraries continually adapt to the technological advances and administrative challenges that follow . The staff plays an important role between the information and the users. The staff being professional, or paraprofessional should possess the knowledge of online databases, knowledge of all web features etc. Besides that, the systems may get updated, replaced regularly and hence learning new or upgraded online resources must be an integral part of every position in the library (Eells. The Economic Aspects Associated With Globalization Quoted by the Financial Times as the integration of economies, industries, markets, cultures and policy making around the world , globalisation has thrived in recent years owing to developments in communication, transportation and trade, accompanied by the enhancement and increased use of information technology. Whilst at first glance this could be regarded as beneficial, it has nonetheless provoked a number of high profile and often violent protests of late. Notably the biggest anti globalisation demonstration ever experienced was in Seattle in 1999 involving 40,000 activists (BBC News). Globalisation has a multitude of different facets, ranging from the worlds of research and health, to media and technology. This essay however, will look at the economic aspects associated with globalizationand will seek to explore some of the reasons behind these protests. Contrastingly, it will also look at the benefits of this increase in interconnectivity examining how a rise in business wealth will allow others to share the benefits. One of the obvious benefits of globalisation is the increase in free trade throughout the world and the affect this has on consumers. Temin (1999) recognised that when the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) was initiated, it proved to be the initial trigger in the reduction and removal of barriers to trade. Theme Of Conformism In Fahrenheit 451 Correspondingly, in Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury notably brings out the hybrid character in Montag during his transformation from a conformist to a non conformist. However, his pursuit for knowledge and books resulted in the eventual loss of his job, wife and friends , and himself being hunted down by the authorities. Superiority and inferiority due to unequal power distribution is evidently seen through the cleanliness of their home environment. Robots resided in high rise buildings where advanced technology ensured that everything was in neat and order. On the contrary, humans lived in underground shelters where sanitation was at its worst state. Society of the past is much similar to the current society where human race existed. As a robot, Guardian was supposed to stay in the future society where its race was dominating, but it existed in society of the past, where there was only acceptance of human identity. Due to cultural hegemony of the society where only human race existed, Guardian was masked by a human skin to gain acceptance by the society. The fact that Guardian was masked off from its original identity shows the initial rejection of its identity in society of the past. In addition, Guardian continued to face rejection in the future society when it lived differently from other robots. Everyone agrees that this guiding principle has the solid endorsement of the majority of the population. These presumptions are accepted with almost no contention or debate. In Justice in Medicineand Public Health, Rosamund Rhodes argues that no single conception of justice explains the array of broadly endorsed medical and public health policies. This thought challenges the classical approach of defining or defending one accurate view of justice in medicine. There are many different views of justice in health care that have been developed and debated. However, it is clear that no one view of the distribution of the scarce resources and services fits every situation. Aristotle defined justice as giving each his due. While this thought has its fans, others prefer a more idealistic view of justice in the field of health care. One of these philosophies, utilitarianism, defines justice as policies and procedures that produce the best outcomes. During times of emergency, it is acceptable for health professionals to practice triage medicine. The practice of triage medicine represents the goal of avoiding the worst outcomes and not the utilitarian view of the best possible outcome. • 31. Antigone And Creon Analysis The dramatic play Antigone that Sophocles had formulated, carries out a complex and increasingly suspenseful plot. Creon, the king of Thebes, establishes a law that deprives Polynices, one of the two brothers that had died fighting for his rightful seat on the throne, a proper burial due to the attack of his own city. In response, Polynices sister Antigonedefies this law behind Creons back and is as a consequence, sentenced to death. Yet, Creon s judgements ultimately lead to his downfall as he loses all things significant to him in life. Thus, the characters of Antigone and Creon within Sophoclesplay find themselves in a conflict between their own conceivement of the law, which mirror the conflict between the divine and state. What Sophocles intends to convey within the tragic conclusion of both characters is the individuality of law and the correlating misconception that a wrong or right can be established within its definition. In constructing the mindsets of Creon and Antigone, whose complexity becomes a backbone to the intricacy of the play as a whole, Sophocles utilizes both their actions and the dialogue of the mediators to reveal the treatment and perception of their own preconceived laws. According to Sam Meisner from the fishbowl discussion, Antigone s sister and Creon s son Haemon acted as the voices of reason within the plot as both worked to reveal the hidden faults of the favored laws, thus dubbing them the mediators between the two extremes of the ... In the middle ages, the pope was essentially the king, and that ended in drama between popes and actual kings, as well as the line between politics and religion being blurred. Church should not be involved in state because the church leader is then at significant risk of devaluing one or the other, and state should not be involved in church as it was during Charlemagne s time. In the middle ages the church and the state were very much related. The church was less related to religion than it was to government. Religion in the middle ages was related to politics, so rather than the leader of a faith, the pope was more like a king; he supposedly possessed the power to send people to hell by excommunicating them if they displeased him. He finds out that this couple owns two homes without any mortgages, have absolutely no debt and have a net worth of almost two million dollars. He then investigates why this is so. He finds that the McIntyres have some guidelines that help them. They have goals instead of budgets, they pay themselves first, watch their latte factor or spending and make their savings automatic. Chapter 2 describes the latte factor. The latte factor is a term that is used to describe the unnecessary spending habits that everyone does. Over time these small purchases add up. Bach gives some tips on how to control it; write down what you spend for a week and see what you can eliminate from your purchases. With those purchases, instead of spending your money on them, use the money to put into a savings account. Five dollars a day in a good money market account with a 10% annual return would add up to $339,073 in 30 years. The latte factor is to help people realize that they make enough to spend. Michael J Saylor was the Chairman of MicroStrategy had committed fraud in reporting profits when the company was actually losing money. Mr. Saylor settled the civil charges that were filed in federal court in Washington without admitting or denying them and agreed to pay $8.3 million to shareholders and a $350,000 penalty to the S.E.C. I think that 8.3 million dollars to the shareholders is a lot of money to be paid. I do not agree with this price. Since he was the Chairman of the company, I think he should have not committed fraud. I know he did not want his company to collapse, but he still should have not committed fraud. In the Case involving Harmon and Case, an investigation showed that the College of Allied Health received allocations of more than 1.7 million in Pell Grant funding to distribute to its students. The investigation revealed that more than 1.4 million had been fraudulently obtained by the school. Harmon, Case and other Co conspirators forged and created documents and submitted fraudulent grant applications to the US department of education for non existent or non eligible students. A portion of the 1.4 million was used to pay salaries and operating expenses and the rest was used for their own personal use. Some of the funds were spent on jewelry, real estate, furniture, and an automobile. Harmon and Case was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 250,000 in fines. I do not agree with this sentence, I think they should have gotten 10 years for what they had done because 1.4 million is a lot of money to be stolen. • 44. King Lear Nature The concept of nature has become layered with many complexities due to the numerous ways the word can be interpreted. It could mean anything from the inherent character or basic constitution of a person or thing to the external world in its entirety to a spontaneous attitude (Merriam Webster). However, despite its many forms, in its essence, nature as a concept implicates powerlessness for individuals. It will always be something that is beyond human control, whether it be the forces that work around people such as weather or animals, or the innate and uncontrollable characteristics within one s personality. Nature has control over the world, and one can decide to either fight this authority or succumb to it. This idea is seen very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this play, words function as a mask that characters hide behind, while actions show their true intentions. Accordingly, after the daughters who have no deep love for their father profess their affection for him in a mendacious display of emotion, the daughter that loves Lear most, Cordelia, refuses to compliment him, claiming she cannot heave [her] heart into [her mouth] (1.1.88 89). She decides to rely on the actions of her past to reveal her affections, however, Lear has yet to accept the value of honesty, so he rails against his youngest daughter exclaiming Let it be so! Thy truth then be thy dower ...here I disclaim all my paternal care, propinquity and property of blood, and as a stranger to my heart and me hold thee from this forever. (1.1.110 115). Both Lear s strong reaction and his rejection of truth and honesty reflect his own insecurities and inability to divulge his genuine nature. Having lived his whole life like a performance on stage, he feels threatened by Cordelia s rejection of a false grandeur which Lear, whether he realizes it or not, sees as a personal attack against his own fabricated identity. Consequently, lashing out from his jealousy for Cordelia s ability to remain true to herself, Lear acts against his better judgment by banishing her, and foreshadows the ironic trajectory of this story. As the play progresses, King Lear transcends from a point of supreme power to the lowest and most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. African American Males And Capital Punishment African American Males and Capital Punishment We simply cannot say we live in a country that offers equal justice to all Americans when racial disparities plague the system by which our society imposes the ultimate punishment. (Senator Russ Feingold, 2003). It has been proven that death sentencing across the USA is determined by the raceof the victim and race of the defendant. In 1990, there was a report from the General Accounting office which concluded that those who murdered whites were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks. (Focus, 2003) This injustice amongst us are because people are scared and don t know. They don t know whether a black man is pulling out a gun, their phone, wallet, etc. So just to remain safe, they retaliate by killing our men. Society has grown to function on the fear of black men. Capitalism and the imprisonment of black peoplehave become profitable. They ve made a big business to just imprison black men. Black men are inheritably a threat to the capitalist structure of America, it protects their money, their politics, and their society.
