Qin Dynasty Research Paper
If people would like to know Chinese history, the Qin Dynasty is absolutely necessary! The Qin
Dynasty is the first big dynasty in the Chinese history. The Qin Dynasty existed was 221 BC to
207 BC. The Qin Dynasty located in Southeast of China. It also had a famous and brutal emperor
Qin Shi Huang, and he was the first emperor of China. Because the Qin Dynasty had good
geography with a lot of resource, there was a high risk of war from outsiders. Therefore, the Qin
built and made strong government to protect and keep the people together.
Qin Dynasty government and inventions were a very important part of the Qin Dynasty. Qin
Dynasty invented the seal script (Theobald). Qin unified the nation, but the national language tense

The Qin Dynasty had really big area, and also had Huns came into the Qin area to invade, so if
they wanted to rule a big country, they needed a perfectly strict legal system. Firstly, the Qin
emperor needed to rule the thought. So the Qin government burned books. In the Qin Dynasty,
they had a philosophy called legalism. Legalism is the belief in a strong government with
complete control over every aspect of the people s lives(Peralta). So Qin Shi Huang made the people
burn books that disagreed with him and made everyone obey the Qin emperor. Secondly, they had
administrative division(Peralta). They divided the place using mountains and nevers, and named
each area, this helped Qin Dynasty to control and manage the area. Thirdly, the Qin Dynasty made a
new land system (Wu). This system made the people have their own land, and the Qin Dynasty had
good land, so people can plant almost whatever they want. This agricultural production supported
foreign wars. Therefore, it helped improve the Qin Dynasty economy. Fourthly, the Qin Dynasty s

Saco-Casco Bay Model Analysis
The Saco Casco Bays, in the southern Maine are susceptible to coastal inundation due to the
influence of winter storms. High resolution storm surge modeling based on Finite Volume Coastal
Ocean Model has been setup for the Saco Casco Bays for conducting ensemble hindcast
simulation of winter storm Juno. The model is one way nested with the Northeast Coastal Ocean
Forecast System (NECOFS) and driven by high resolution NECOFS/WRF and moderate
resolution NAM WRF to understand the impact of wind speed and direction on predicting the
surge. The low pressure system causes a maximum surge of 0.662m at Portland on 27th Jan 2015

Macon Museum of Art Essay
Macon Museum of Art
Macon Museum of Art, a not for Profit Corporation, is facing major financial problems since 2000
and up till 2002. Actions were needed to stop this cumulative loss and to achieve some profit for
2003.
After reviewing the case at hand, one can see through the brief history of the museum that it was
founded since 1925. In 1998, its name changed into the Jonathon A . Macon Museum of Art, the
major benefactor whose endowment helped expending the facility in the district. The Macon
Museum has different collections which are displayed periodically due to space limitations, but
each collection is set in its building architecture that accents the display. This fact makes it
impossible for someone to visit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Board of Trustees had to make several projections which led that
2003 is not likely to bring no more than 1.6 million in county appropriations, low interest rates
which will make investments remain flat or decline, fewer contributions than 2002 and less
membership revenues. Yet there was a positive rolefor auxiliary activities which were intended to
produce profit.
The museum image, as explained by the director and Ms. Mercer and based on their marketing
research, reflected two images:
1 non image at all
2 The museum is for specific people.
Therefore, this issue is a serious one, if people cannot find the museum interesting from the first
place how would they want to visit it? The museum offered different educational programs and
special exhibitions, and made lots of effort in promotion especially through press relations and local
media. Even though the attendance increases, yet the attendees would be non MMA members.
Nevertheless, such exposure helped in the annual membership solicitation.
Memberships provide the largest chare of the museum s revenues. As they are divided into two
categories, statistics showed that in 2002, personal memberships accounted almost 80% of
membership revenue. Thus the market of the business consists mainly of personal membership
more than corporate. Yet, the estimated cost of member benefits provided exceeded $ 1 million per
year, and the principle costs items were:

Geo Located Asset Management at UOS
Abstract With the development of the GIS technology inventories and tracking of items has been
made much easier than before. University of Sharjah has tapped into this advancement in
technology and employed GIS is security its property in general as well as using t to track the
movement of their non fixed assets.
Purpose
The research uses a number of methodologies like assessing existing system of asset management at
UOS, interviewing fixed asset managers, carrying out literature review of GIS systems for asset
management, studying the possible methods of interfacing this data with database maintained as
GIS maps. Open Source Quantum Geographical System software was finally used to draw GIS
maps of the UOS Women campus and UOS main building. GIS can be used be used in managing
outdoor infrastructures, natural resources, and assets like cables and piping system installations
and vehicles. In construction planning, GIS can be used by facilities and property managers to
prevent costly construction delays by knowing the location of utility lines, where environmental
clearances or special permits are required, and other projects being facilitated in such locations.
With GIS, maintenance staff and ground keepers can work efficiently with an access to an
informed operational picture.

Juliek Violin Quotes
This illustration shows Juliek playing the violin, in a barrack, in Gleiwitz. The next day when Eli
woke up from his sleep, he saw that Juliek was dead with his violin crushed into pieces. In the
future, when Eli hears the Beethoven piece; he gets sucked into darkness, and he flashes back to
the time where he sees Juliek giving a concert too many dying men.
I . . . I m afraid . . . They ll break . . . my violin . . . I . . . I brought it with me. This quote shows that
the violin is very important to Juliek. Juliek brought his violin with him because it s like his
hope, it s the only item he has that will make him feel better. The book states, Those were my
thoughts when I heard the sound of a violin... Who was this madman who played the violin, here
at the edge of his own grave? Or was it a hallucination? It had to be Juliek. He was playing a
fragment of a Beethoven concerto. Never before had I heard such a beautiful sound. In such
silence. When Juliek was playing the violin, it was his hope or his life. Juliek was still alive and his
violin was still in one piece. The violin is like his hope because when he plays the violin it seems to

Japan Under The Shoguns Research Paper
History Speech Today I am going to convince you that Japan Under the Shoguns was a more
important society than that of the Vikings. I will talk to you about Japan s daily life and the wars
they fought the warriors and the weaponry. The houses in the city had to be long and narrow so
they could fit into the narrow streets of the city. But the farmers had houses that were adapted to
their conditions. Some farmers had rooms in their houses to store animals. The more wealthy
peoples houses were typically built in the centre of a large garden and the house was symmetrical.
The long hallways connect the rooms. This showed their skills in design and planning. There were
many theatres in Japan where they hosted all kinds of different plays.

Examples Of Invasive Species In Ontario
Introduced species are seldom a positive addition to an ecosystem as they cause great stress and
harm to the populations of native species. Many introduced species become invasive as they have
no natural predators in their new environment, therefore they thrive, and crowd out all other
animals. Some examples of invasive speciesin Ontario waters include the round goby, zebra
mussels, eurasian ruffe, goldfish, northern snakehead, rainbow smelt, and rudd, to name a few. A
great example to show how destructive an introduced fish can be is the asian carp, this species
spreads very aggressively and it is considered the greatest threat to aquatic ecosystems in Ontario.
These fish grow to be very large in size, up to 40 kg and 1 meter long. The asian

Essay about The American Revolution and the Institution of...
Introduction The American Revolution is defined as the political turbulence that took place
towards the end of eighteenth century when thirteen colonies in America united to attain freedom
from the British Empire (Clifford, 2005). The union of the thirteen colonies is now known as the
United States of America. According to Clifford (2005), the American Revolutionoccurred because
of a series of political, intellectual, and social transformations in the American government and
society, which is known as the American Enlightenment. The American Revolution created a
variety of opportunities for the American slaves to attain freedom (Waldstreicher, 2004). Slaves

An approximate of three thousand slaves escaped from their masters in 1781 when the British
invaded Virginia (Blumrosen Blumrosen, 2006). About five thousand and twenty thousand slaves
in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively, were freed from bondage as a result of the American
Revolution (Clifford, 2005). The Revolution s natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to
request the state legislatures to get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade
(Waldstreicher, 2004). Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that
living conditions were better in the North than in the South. Unfortunately, they experienced
many problems in the North, such as lack of jobs, insufficient food, and lack of housing, which
forced many of them to go back to the south to work on the cotton plantations for wages
(Clifford, 2005). In the South, the freed slaves were assured of food and housing. Therefore, the
population of slaves started to grow again in the 1790s and spread into other lands that became the
cotton belt (Clifford, 2005). At round 1793, cotton cultivation expanded into large scale as a result
of the invention of gin. The slaves in the southern states were used as laborers in spite of the
American Revolution s natural rights philosophy (Clifford, 2005). According to Clifford (2005),
the slave owners started to improve the lives of their slaves on the cotton plantations after a

Reflective Personal Reflection
It is quite fascinating the shifts our minds can create, how frequently we experience behavioral
changes and how much of an impact theses alterations can have on our lives. To me this is how
reflective psychology is in our development as humans. And for a very long time, my interests
have been drawn into the field of care and mental health. In particular, I have fixated my
attention into the growth and development of children. From a very young age, it has been an
interest of mine to understand the complex behavior certain children possessed. I mean the
smallest of tantrums I saw being displayed by my own siblings to me were quite interesting. I
would encounter the bullying of other children because of lack of understanding of the English
language. While at the same time, I would be so drawn and pleased with those who understood
my struggle and tried to educate me. To me, part of my childhood was certainly an amazing
experience. I mean I lived in a Caribbean country where I felt free to play and enjoy life at any
time. Then I migrated with my parents to the United States and I felt like I was segregated from
my own people because of my language barrier. It is so interesting how much a single move can
in a sense traumatize the brain of a child. Even though I am exceptionally pleased with the
arrangements taken by my parents to move us here, in order to give us a brighter future. I felt very
disconnected and confused as to why I had to encounter such a harsh period, when I was

Khepera Mobile Robots For Search And Rescue Operation
Khepera Mobile Robots for Search and Rescue Operation
Keywords: Mobile Robot, Explore Unknown Map with Obstacles, Gas Detection, V rep, Khepera
III, Albers Algorithm.
Abstract: Nowadays, using robots instead of humans in risk operations is an interesting point in
the field of robotics. In this paper we introduce an integrated approach for search and rescue
operation of detecting gas sources in large areas; e.g. houses, factories, and labs. This aims at
saving people s lives at bottlenecks resulting from gas leak and ignition of fires. Experiment is
performed using master Khepera robot supplied with gas sensor circuit to search map, in addition
to two slave Khepera supplied with gripper to take the best path to clinch the victim.
Moreover, this paper proposes an improvement of Albers exploration algorithm to reduce the time
required to explore unknown map with different polygon obstacles. The proposed approach aims to
minimizing the overall exploration time, making it possible to localize fire sources in an efficient
way, as demonstrated in
Vrep simulation as well as real world experiments with Khepera III robot. A comparison among
different algorithms has showed the effectiveness of the proposed one where the percentage of
performance speedup is about 30% to 57% depending on size of the map and number of obstacles.

How Did Roman Architecture Influence Architecture
It s inconvertible that Roman s legacy can still be felt nowadays in our daily lives and it had an
elegance impact on modern buildings. Romans took architecture to a greater level by creating lots
of masterworks that the purpose from them was to solve problems. Actually, their creativity in
solving particular problems inspired and it s still inspiring modern society. They started with
constructing complicated road system which is connecting all the places and countries to each
other and all of them led you to the capital. In addition to the public places like bathes which were
open to the whole city. Then they started to construct columns, arches, and domes with lots of

development in W.S. in New York City. The Pantheon, a Roman place for worship and the
Catholic capitol St. Peter s Basilica reflected it by using designs and materials from it. Not only
these examples, there is also Trajan s column in Italy, Rome which was a structure built by a
romans and Napoleons column reflected it in France. In addition to The Maison Carree a Roman
temple in Nimes was the inspiration of the British museum in England. In the other hand, Arches

American Exceptionalism Research Paper
The topic of American Exceptionalism is a very contentious one. Over the past several years, news
pundits have brought up the subject repeatedly and some on both the right and the left frequently
use it as a litmus test for ideological purity. Generally speaking, there are two lines of thought that
dominate the discussion of this topic.
One line of thought holds that American Exceptionalism is very real and has had a profound
impact on the United States. There are two related threads involved in this argument. First is the
idea that because the United States was created as, what one might call, the first new nation,
emerging out of an explosive revolutionary event that severed all connections between America and

A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Local color by definition is the customs, manner of speech, dress, or other typical features of a
place or period that contribute to its particular character. Any given location has its own local
color, but that of the southern region of the United States is especially prominent. The local color
of this region is demonstrated in the short stories A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and A
Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor. Although different aspects of local colorare
expressed, both authors capture the local color of the south in their short stories. The south is most
well known for drawling accents, pre (and post) civil war racism and large states with even larger
plantations and farms. These are only generalizations however,... Show more content on

Miss Emily refused to pay her taxes because she believed she was pardoned from them due to the
fact that Colonel Sartoris had once loaned money to their hometown. Nobody in her town
challenged her on this, or the matter that she still had a negro servant that attended to her in her
old fashioned home that she refused to update. The local color of the era Miss Emily wished to
live in is particularly apparent. Her home is even described as once being part of the best
neighborhood in town, another reason Miss Emily was stuck in the past. Another example of
local color in A Rose for Emily is the oddity that even though Miss Emily is an outsider in town,
nobody bothers to challenge her because she has an Old South social standing. This means that in
previous times social standings in the south were taken more seriously than the present time of
the story, even though Miss Emily still regards herself with the same old standard. Nobody in the
town wanted to go against her and challenge a lady to the point where they unknowingly allowed
her to poison her Yankee husband to be. This is ironic because nobody in the town believed they
would have been married anyways due to the fact that he was from the north and she was from the
south, which is yet another example of local

The Effect Of Heat Transfer Fluids Essay
1.3Heat transfer fluids
Based fluid will meet your system s thermal requirements, you can choose between Heat transfer
fluids are those fluids which allow the heat to transfer through itself. This work surveys the veriety
of heat transfer fluids and the systems in which they are used .The fluids considered are those found
in process and energy application: water(vapour and liquid), gases, organic fluids, moltan salt, and
liquid metal. Refrigrents are not included. For completeness, the basic concept of heat transfer and
thermodynamics that apply are also presented along with pertinent relationship, table aur data and a
few illustration examples. these can be used in various forms gasous or liquid , mixture or simple
solution.Heat transfer fluid selection can involve complication, multi dimensional decisions where
factors such as thermal stability, pumpability, pressure requirements, and more must be weighed
in an effort to achieve the optimum balance of performance and economy in your particular
system. However, you may be able to narrow your range of options with a few basic decisions.
First, choose a synthetic organic fluid, a silicone fluid or an inhibited glycol based fluid based on
your temperature requirements. If your heat transfer application has a maximum use temperature
requirement above 175ЛљC (350ЛљF), consider a synthetic organic or silicone fluid. For
temperatures lower than 175ЛљC (350ЛљF), or if you need freeze protection for a water based

Texas Constitution
Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions
The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of
similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However,
what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and
how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far
more timeless and living document. This paper will be comparing and contrasting these four
provisions from the U.S and Texas Constitutions: The Bill of Rights, amending the constitution, the
legislative branch, and the executive branch. The Bill of Rights is one of the many provisions ...

The Executive branch is seen as the head of all three branches and is the one that we believe
holds the most power. The Texas Constitution and the U.S Constitution give the powers that this
branch obtains. In this branch both the Governor of Texas and President of the U.S are given
powers, such as minimal removal powers, military powers, message powers, and of course veto
powers. Both of the executive bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when
either the Governor of Texas or the President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to
the contrast found in the constitutions when it comes to impeachment, in the National government
there are very specific reasons to why the President would be impeached, for example treason
would be one of those. The Texas Constitution gives the power to impeach the Governor but there
are no written out reasons as to what is an impeachable offense, the House of Representatives
decide what is impeachable. Adding on to the differences between the two the executive body
leaders have different qualifications when it comes to running for that position, to become

Essay on Commonality of Synesthesia Induced by Serotonin
The study of synesthesia has grown exponentially over the past few decades and as a result there
is some level of ambiguity as to the scope of what defines it. Gail Martino and Lawrence Mark
propose that synesthesia can be categorized into strong or weak. The former refers to those who
experience a vivid image in one sensory in response to stimulation in another , whereas the latter is
characterized as cross sensory correspondence[s] expressed through language, perceptual similarity
and perceptual interactions during information processing (Martino and Marks, 2001). This view
implies that even the subtlest forms of cross modal interactions that take place in the individual,
albeit associating certain sounds to sight, deserve some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, the administration of melatonin allowed for a subject to experience grapheme color
synesthesia, in which S1 activation was lowered allowing for the dis inhibit[ion] of S2a receptors
leading to synesthesia (p. 903). These conclusions thus support the notion that the uptake of
serotonin in the S2a receptors has some correlation to synesthetic experience, yet it is unclear
which S2a receptors were specifically looked at. Berit Brogaard recently conducted a study that
looked at Brang and Ramachandran s serotonin hypothesis across drug induced and acquired forms
of synesthesia. Brogaard states that it has been shown in several studies that psychedelic
hallucinogens that function primarily as serotonin agonists, such as LSD, often induce auditorial
visual synesthesia . It is believed that this form of drug induced synesthesia is a result of an
alternation of functional brain connectivity caused by the binding of serotonin to S2a receptors (p.
5). In regards to acquired synesthesia following brain injury research has shown that necrosis
following tissue damage leads to local neurotransmitter flooding caused by an excessive release of
serotonin and glutamate (Brogaard, 2013). Damaged tissue requires the cells in the brain to shift to
anaerobic glycolysis, which quickly depletes the ATP levels present and ultimately causes the
membrane ion

Examples Of Figurative Language In The Great Gatsby
In the novel, The Great Gatsby, the author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, employs different types of figurative
language to construct representations of the motifs and to help enhance them. F. Scott Fitzgerald
wrote novels and short stories during the Jazz Age in American History. He had led a tough life
and gone through two relationships prior to his wife, Zelda. Both Zelda and Fitzgerald started
falling apart when they turned to drinking and partying and eventually, she was admitted to an
insane asylum. Shortly after, he decided to write, The Great Gatsby, which was staged around his

For example, while Nick is at Gatsby s party, he starts to describe what he sees. Most of the
things that Nick says are examples of symbolism. In this example, Nick states, In his blue
gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and
the stars. (Fitzgerald, 39). Since a simile is the comparison using the words like or as , the
example present is comparing the man and the girls who enjoy Gatsby s party, much like moths
enjoy the light. This is a quote describing the people because it means they didn t show up to
meet with Gatsby, but, in fact, they are only present for the party. In the next example,
Fitzgerald is developing the character, Jay Gatsby, by showing his wealth through the narrator,
Nick Carraway. Again, Nick Carraway is describing what he sees which is Gatsby s station
wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains. (Fitzgerald, 39). The example
displayed above indicates how similar a station wagon is to a brisk yellow bug and how alike they
behave. To summarize, Fitzgerald incorporated similes as a type of figurative language in The
Great Gatsby to describe both the setting and the characters throughout the

Ceruloplasmin
Ceruloplasmin is a serum ferroxidase that carries more than 90 % of copper in plasma and plays
an important role in iron homeostasis as well as antioxidative functions [105]. Ceruloplasmin best
known as copper binding protein, found in the plasma of vertebrate species, and is mainly
synthesized by the liver [106]. After ceruloplasmin was originally isolated from plasma by
Holmberg and Laurell [107], this proteinquickly became the subject of many investigations
concerning its function, molecular structure and the physical properties of the copper ions bound
to it [106, 108 111]. The ceruloplasmin gene was identified on the human 3q25 chromosome with
a molecular weight of ~132 kDa [112]. The molecule is composed of six compact domains, with
large loop insertions, and is characterized by the presence of three types of spectroscopically
distinct copper sites.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ceruloplasmin protein contains more than 90% of copper in the plasma, but rather than strictly
functioning in copper metabolism, its main function appears to be a modulator of iron efflux via
oxidation [106, 108, 109]. Ceruloplasmin has been known to possess ferroxidase activity, the
ability to oxidize ferrous to ferric iron. This activity is required for its function in iron homeostasis
and is thought to reduce oxidative stress by inhibition of the Fenton reaction which uses Fe2+ to
generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) [106, 110]. Ceruloplasmin has also been demonstrated to
function as an acute phase protein activated by the host immune system during stress conditions

Applying Certificate Iv Of Training And Assessment
Applying Certificate IV in Training and Assessment to work in assisting youth towards market
demand in Timor Leste
Introduction
Timor Leste received independence on 30 August 1999 after a majority of the population voted for
pulling out of Indonesian occupation of the country. Life was not easy after getting the light of
independence as many sectors were destroyed to the ground by the militias. An enormous
responsibility rested on people to exert efforts to reorganize everything from the ground up. The
education system was highlighted as a core sector to be improved both in quality and service within
the country. Education and training are some of the main tools being used to wipe away the tears of
victims, who suffered much during the conflict. Technical vocational educationand training
(TVET) is believed to be a key area which will assist in restoring many devastated sectors which
totally paralyzed the country. In early 2010, the TVET system was formally established in a
national strategic plan with a particular function in assuring, formulating and establishing the
national qualification framework (NQF) (PATVET, 2011). It has been tremendously effective
through its system of competence based training and competence based assessment in working
towards market needs. This TVET system has evolved smoothly in Timor Leste as it is culturally
appropriate to local beliefs and is flexible in its approach. The role of the TVET System in
producing competent and qualified

Black Dynamite
Black Dynamite Movie and its Camp aspects
The Movie Black Dynamite, released in 2009, is an action comedy film and a parody of the 1970
s blaxploitation genre. The film is mainly about a character, named Black Dynamite, a former CIA
agent, who spends the majority of his free time policing inner city streets, and protecting prostitutes
from their abusive pimps. When mysterious forces kill his brother, Black Dynamite roars back into
action, battling evildoers on an epic quest that takes him from the mean streets of L.A. to Kung Fu

The Black Dynamite film is full of frivols and exaggerated scene from the crack addicted orphan
children begging for a fix to a limitless supply of flamboyance. The acting is stiff, the dialogue
painfully self conscious, action sequences choreographed, and edited to look as cartoonish as
possible (Scott). Black Dynamite is always referred to by his full name. He is unbeatable with
exaggerated masculine, fighting ability, chevron mustache, and a vigilante. The actor cream corn
female impersonation, high hill, doing nail, for mocking purpose; and the decorative style of drug
dealers, prostitutes and Black Dynamite himself are all considered to be camp aesthetics. The
Main character seriousness, but failure to achieve that seriousness in the eyes of the beholder and
all the above points contributed for this film to be viewed as campy. Above all, Camp taste is,
above all, a mode of enjoyment, of appreciation, not judgement. Camp is generous. It wants to

Similarities Between Luxembourg And The United States
Luxembourg is known to have the best health care system in the world. In Luxembourg, every
citizen has health care insurance and each member is protected by basic medical coverage.
Citizens in Luxembourg have health care taxes taken out of each check which is on average 5.44
percent of gross income (Health Management, 2017). Dependents are covered under their
guardians who pay health care taxes. Another perk of the Luxembourg health care system is that
students are covered for free until the age of 27. The insurance pays for any basic procedure or
treatment that is medically necessary, if someone chooses to have an elective procedure one must
self pay. Options are given to the citizens to have private health insurancein case one was to become
severely ill or next an extensive procedure (Health Gov, 2012).
The United States has several different insurance options for citizens such as insurance via an
employer, insurance purchased privately or free health care provided by the government.
Individuals qualify for free medical care if they are of low income or over the age of 65. The
different insurance companies can pick and choose what they want to cover and which doctor the
patient must use. Also, the physicians can refuse to take a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A Marvelous Journey of Return in The Kingdom of This World...
A Marvelous Journey of Return
The Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpentier is the author s journey of return to his Latin
American root. He tries to decipher the myths and complexity of African identity and achieves it by
opening up a new realm of interpretation and representation through literature work.
In the novel, there are elements that can only come as a result of his experience of observing,
questioning and criticizing, among which I think several are very noteworthy. First is Carpentier s
reflection of his own identity search in the novel, second is his application of magic realism in the
writing that shows the juxtaposition between fiction and history and lastly, his depiction of a
repeating cycle of the Haitian history in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carpentier himself is a very representative individual to illustrate his perspective of being part of
the culture but not the entirety of it due to his mixed background.
Carpentier s literature represents a type of root seeking nature of his race. By exploring the blended
culture of Latin America on the Haitian island, Carpentier does not deny the legacy of some
Western civilization, but more importantly, he defines how the native culture coexists with exotic
cultures on the island based on a multiculturalism view. The reality in his novel demonstrates a
special relationship between Black people s culture and the French culture. The two cultures
coexist, collide and oppose each other at times and they become a cultural juxtaposition in an
atemporal state.
Overall, I think Carpentier really initiated a unique way of returning and finding authentic
identity of the people on his homeland in the form of literature work. His good control of the
pace and timing of the travel can be seen as a counterbalance to the disorder of time and space
embedded in the story. While deliberately displacing and altering between historical facts and
fictional plots, I think Carpentier takes control of the display of his ideas in a very subtle way.
There exists a parallel relationship between the developments of the story in the novel to the actual
history. Instead of creating random

The Theme Of Democracy In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
Heming Chen
American Literature
Ms. Crowl

I Could Be You
The word democracy has its roots in the ancient Greek combination of dД“mos, meaning the
people, and kratГa, meaning power or rule: literally translating as the rule or power of the people .
To simplify the term further, Democracyis an arrangement in which individuals have similar
equality in power. First conceptualized and adopted by the Athenians in fifth century B.C,
democracy has made itself to be known as a powerful and popular government model today, in use
by over 60% of modern day countries. Walt Whitmanutilizes the theme of democracy in his poem,
Song of Myself, not only encouraging it as a system, but also as a way of life, seeking unity in all.
Although Whitman uses the seemingly singular pronoun I in his poems, he is not using the
pronoun to signify only himself but also the rest of humanity as a unified entity. Whitman opens
his poem with the words I celebrate myself, and sing myself, / And what I assume you shall
assume, / For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (1 3). The first line, its meaning
initially seeming rather cryptic, becomes more discernable once the universal I is employed. It then
becomes evident that Whitman is intending his poem to be a celebration of humankind.
Interestingly enough, the usage of sing in such context almost brings the reader back again to the
classics, reminiscent of the epics of old. While all definitions of assume apply for the

Transportation On Pennsylvania State Campus
Transportation on Pennsylvania State campus, via bicycle, has always been an option for students
and faculty since 1855. However, the university 150 years ago was different considering the size of
the campus and student body. In 1863, and later years, the classes totalled a measly 64
undergraduates, while in 2016 more than 40,000 students make up each undergraduate level. Every
year this number increases making university parka more crowded area in every regard from
housing to congestion of sidewalks. Regulations provided to students available online outline the
basic conditions for riding a bike on campus and highlight provisions made by the university.
However, as a student who has been on campus for a summer and two thirds of a fall semester, I
feel the rules are not only impossible to follow, but fail to ensure safety to students and faculty.
There must be action to improve the current state of transportational means on campus for students
and one of the best and simple means in doing so is through the revision of roadways on campus.
Firstly, providing safety to students who are seeking high education is known to be high priority by
the administration of Penn State. Programs such as auxiliary student police and emergency phone
lines provide students with safety during troublesome times at night, but what about safety during
broad daylight? College campuses are no stranger to vehicular accidents and cycling accidents

Transgender In The Military
Transgender in the Military
Being a part of the United States military is easier said than done. To become a part of the military,
it takes extreme levels of strength both physically and mentally. Each member must be at their
highest potential in order to effectively complete each mission. Each member of the military should
have no medical or mental distractions, because this may harm the effectiveness of the mission, or
even the member.
There are countless factors that may disqualify a person from being a part of the United States
military due to mental or physical conditions. Each member is greatly appreciated for their service
to this country regardless of their race, religion, or sexual preferences, but are transgender
individuals mentally and physically fit to fight?
When arriving to basic military training in hopes to become a part of the military, each person is
first separated into groups based on whether they are a male or female. These are the groups that
each person will spend the entirety of their time in basic military training with. With these groups,
they will eat, sleep, shower, work out, and complete numerous other activities. It is not easy to get
used to showering and changing in front of fifty other people, even if they are the same gender. If a
transgender individual was placed into the mix, this would make those activities even more
uncomfortable for others, and that same individual would feel out of place. Recruits in basic

Ethnic groups are made up people who share a unique social and cultural background. Society
has put in our minds that we need ethnic identifications to feel part of a certain group of people.
These feelings of belonging or attachment to a certain group of people is a normal thing for us

Mexican Americans can all come in different types of coloring. There are the typical
stereotypical remarks like, You need to be brown to be Mexican, and if you are darker skinned
then they assume you come from Mexico and are illegal. If a light skinned Mexican goes to
Mexico then they think you are gringos or American, so basically neither side will accept you
for what you truly are. People just need to accept that there are light and dark skinned people in
every ethnicity. If you are a light Mexican, people judge you for it since you fooled them. If a
person looks white but then they start speaking Spanish, others consider it as unacceptable and
assume that person must be an immigrant. Practically all Mexican laborers are of a racial

A Social Psychological View of the Help
The movie, The Help, is based on the book written by Kathryn Stockett. It was released in 2011
and directed by Tate Taylor (Taylor, 2017). The Help is set in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960 s,
and it is about the experiences black women had as maids for white families. These women
decided to risk it all and tell their stories in an effort to show what is was really like for them
(Taylor, 2011). The Help illustrates how these women fought racismand prejudice by becoming
unified with one another. This paper will address how prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, and

told Minny, They made me stand there like I was the vacuum salesman (Taylor, 2011). This is just
one example in the movie of prejudice that is bordering on discrimination.
Discrimination
Aside from being prejudice toward anyone different from herself, Hilly Holbrook also exemplified
discrimination in the story. Discrimination is similar to prejudice, but it is defined as behavior
directed against persons because of their membership in a particular group (Kassin, Fein, Markus,
2014). Hilly was prejudice toward Celia, mainly through her own negative beliefs about her. She did
not demonstrate many acts of discrimination toward Celia, but she did when it came to the maids.
In the beginning of the movie, she was shown in her bathroom marking the toilet paper with a
pencil (Taylor, 2011). That was her way of making sure that her maid, which was Minny at the
time, did not use their bathroom inside of the house. She had a separate outhouse for Minny to use.

Abstract
Flat organizational structure is agencies model with few or (much of the time) no levels of middle
administration between the administrators/executives and the staff level workers. It was outlined
with the possibility that learned and very much prepared employers will be more gainful when they
are straightforwardly required in the basic leadership procedure of the association, instead of being

At that point, obviously, flat organizational structure is for everybody. New businesses and little
business ought to weight its advantage and disadvantage before choosing to execute it in their own
particular business.
Advantages of Flattening Chart
1.Cost Effective
In this flat organizational structure, there are less (or no) supervisor layers between the official
executives and the staff people. This implies there are less wages, incidental advantages to pay for
administration. Compensation related costs are lessened, empowering the organization to save
amount and additionally give better pay to its specialists.
2.Promotes Rapid Decision Making
Another point of preference around a flat organizational structure is there are few decision making
hoops. Fewer individuals must be counseled around a choice, permitting the administration to give
quick reaction to any issues or concern. It makes an immediate correspondence line between the
individual sitting behind the work area (CEO) and the general population on the cutting edge (the
specialists/workers).This faster decisions make this structure very beneficial.
3.Helps for Clear Communication
What generally happens when data is gone on through a progression of ears and mouths is that it
wound up either contorted, puffed up, or emptied. At the point when communication is gone

Compare And Contrast Nude Vs Nude
Nakedness and Nudity are often used interchangeably. In Nude versus Naked, John Berger
separates them and finds distinguishable differences between them both. He had said that to be
naked is to be natural without clothes and pure in oneself and seen as such, while nude is to be
naked but not to be seen as one s self. All that is nude consequently, is considered naked but not all
that is naked can be nude.
Nakedness is the natural form of undress to be seen as is; while Nudity brings about implications
and accordingly suggests numerous underlying factors that add on to the view of the spectators on
the art presented to them. As we understand the view of art and in determining how one is Nude
and the other Naked, It is of necessity to understand a bit of background on art, how it is regarded

Pros and Cons of Installing Closed-Circuit Television...
Installation of surveillance camera systems as a way to deter crimes or criminal acts has gained
traction in recent years. In some countries, surveillance camera systems also known as closed
circuit television (CCTV) cameras have also installed in educational institutions as a security
measure to address fears for the safety of the students (Hope, 2004; Corpuz, 2011). The trend,
however, did not stop. From halls and corridors, some education institutions have started to install
cameras inside the classrooms as a means not just to monitor the teachers, but also to address
classroom misbehavior (Shepherd, 2009). This paper seeks to cover the possible positive and

Grant (2004) said educators want video cameras in classrooms to address the issue of violence in
schools. Often teachers who are attacked have no way of proving their claims because pupils who
witness the incidents fail to back up their stories. Video camera footage could be used to
substantiate teachers versions of events as well as to deter pupils from launching the attacks
(Grant, 2004). In the Philippines, the installation of cameras inside the classrooms is seen in a
similar light. As cited in Grafil (2011), University of Santo Tomas security chief Joseph Badinas
said the cameras can be used to track people who are doing something suspicious. The reason
behind the installation of CCTV systems in the classrooms can be attributed to the triadic
reciprocality principle of the social cognitive theory (Bandura, 1986). Under this principle, human
life is consisted of a perpetual series of interactions among the environment, their individual
behavior, and personal cognitive variables like thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions. These three
constructs interact and influences each other reciprocally. Applying the

problem. Recently this has been a hotbed topic, within the media but I have been aware of this
problem for sometime now. Many of my close friends have expressed their concerns about the

I like the way the authors went about explaining the problem and the examples that were given
throughout the article. I also thought it was useful to show that multiple groups can come together

that are wheelchair bound can not reach the tampon dispensers within the bathrooms. Also, I never
noticed that with the gender neutral bathrooms that there are not tampons/pad dispensers which is
very peculiar to me because they should be in there. Those are two aspects of this informative

Mass Migration to America During the 19th Century
This essay will address the reasons as to why there was mass migration to the United States of
America during the nineteenth century. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was
due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to
America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are
primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to
emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin
country. With all of this considered, this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and
employment and living standard in the decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during
the nineteenth century. The potential reach of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by
identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America. In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants
can be broken into two periods, the early part of the century, and the later half of the century. In the
first half of the century, the migrants were primarily farmers and artisans from rural areas, who
traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle permanently, whereas, in contrast, the
migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from urban areas with nonagricultural
occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically unskilled and young, whom had
limited schooling and training (Hatton,

Powerful Learner
I am a powerful learner. I am an open minded learner. I know everyone is different and they like or
do different things. I don t like when people make other people do something they don t like or try
to make someone be just like them. I believe we are all equal and have the same rights. I don t
believe that If someone is famous and they manage to be pulled over that they can sustain getting
away with it, but if I get pulled over I don t get away with it. I made goals for myself this year.
Most people make goals for themselves but never achieve it or do it. Me being one of those people
that do that. One of the goals I made is that I want to be more well balanced. I don t try as hard as I
should in gym class or I never exercise. My other goal is to collect a 4 or more in my classes. I
want to try harder this year than I have ever tried in any of the other grades. My last goal is to be
more of a risk taker. Every time someone tells me to try something new I hesitate and don t try. I
think too much about what could happen. I am caring. I love to see people happy or excited about
something. I hate seeing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mein Kampf Book Report
Mein Kampf, a book, which in the eyes of many adults, elders and adolescents who I have
observed around me, is a novel replete with hate and inhumane ideas. It spread disrespect and
segregation amongst the population, during the Second World War. they claim. This kind of
writing should have been forbidden by law , I have heard many adults say. After the war, in 1945,
this book that brought war upon the globe, has retired from being published and sold in stores all
across Germany. This practice had been reconsidered, though, in January 2016. According to Mein
Kampf, Hitler s Manifesto, Returns to German Shelves, published on January 8th, 2016 in The
New York Times, a new annotated version of Adolf Hitler
s Mein Kampf has begun to fill book
stores in Germany. Many german intellectuals believe that this event will not affect the
perception of the citizen towards the groups targeted in this novel. However, many jewish
organizations like the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany are against the
release of Adolf Hitler s controversial work. This event had left me wondering, if Mein Kampf was
published in 2016, would it be accepted by freedom of speech and expression, or rejected by law?

He segregated and separated specific groups of people from his ideal Arian race. This head of Nazi
Germany, in his piece, Mein Kampf, has countless times discriminated identifiable groups like Jews,
Homosexuals and anyone not associated to the caucasian Christian group of people. For example,
Hitler mentions: The Jews were responsible for bringing negroes into the Rhineland, with the
ultimate idea of bastardizing the white race which they hate and thus lowering its cultural and
political level so that the Jew might dominate. In this case, this leader selects two identifiable
groups, Jews and African Americans, and brings hate upon

Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report
Introduction:
Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main
change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those
connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed.
It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when
bonds are formed.
Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed
by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are
observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in
which the chemical energy changes.
In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance
into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is
correct.
Aim:
To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions.
Hypothesis:
It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or
absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or
endothermic reaction.
Materials: solid ammonium chloride, solid calcium chloride, 100 ml beaker, water, thermometer.
Method:
Add 30 ml

What Is The Purpose Of Shifting Speech Patterns In...
Introduction Throughout the course of political campaigns, candidates travel throughout a set
district in order to gain the support of various constituents. In doing so, speech patterns may be
dependent upon the audience being addresses and by how concerned a candidate is with winning
that group s approval. Such changes unconsciously manifest, while others could be deliberate
alterations to one s speech. For this project, I would be examining this idea by analyzing modern
political campaign tactics and speeches; particularly, President Barack Obamawould be the focal
point of my analysis. President Barack Obama emerged as a charismatic figure of the American
political scene. In 2004, then Senator Obama delivered a hopeful message during... Show more

Through in depth analysis of his political career, an answer will manifest. If so, are these
changes voluntary or involuntary? In addition, the purpose of shifting speech patterns will be
investigated. For answering the first question, my data, a collection of speeches made by
President Barack Obama, will allow me to analyze how a national politician may speak when
going across the country. Analysis would involve deep looks into the speeches and transcribing
of speech patterns. Such patterns may include changes in tone and pitch, hand gestures, selective
vocabulary, etc. These processes are similar across the board as all of these questions would
require the same looks into my data. To hypothesize, based on previous work in this course, I
believe that the results will show a deliberate change of speech with Barack Obama s speeches. In
order to gain votes from the people, one must pretend to be among the people.
Significance
Politicians compete every year for some level of power and authority. Voters grant such authority
through a democratic system of elections. Simply, elections are popularity contest as voters look
for the person who embodies the values they hold dear. Therefore, a politician fights to earn every
vote which he/she possibly can. One of the most distinct ways to make connect with people is to
speak the region s common language, whether that be a dialect or entirely different language than
before. This idea leaves

important point they can try to renegotiate. In the Alpha term sheet the founders have a percentage
ownership of 34% if the revenues hurdle of $500,000 is met. The founders hold 32.6% if the
revenue hurdle is not met. Mega has no such revenue hurdle thus, with the number of shares
outlined in the term sheet, the founders own 37.5%. Negotiation: In the Alpha term sheet a higher

The negotiation with Mega would be to outline the voting rights. In particular I would want to
outline common voting rights for approval on (1) any merger or acquisition of the company
irrespective of whether state corporation law grants them such a right; (2) the creation of any
new securities senior to or on a parity with their preferred stock; (3) any amendment to the
articles of incorporation that would affect the rights of the preferred stock; or (4) changes to any
of the rights and preferences agreed to in the preferred stock sale. These basic voting rights
should be agreed upon before the closing documents are outlined. If possible, I would also want
Mega to outline any other possible voting rights they want included in the contract as we are
negotiating the term. I prefer to negotiate this term now rather than leave it for the closing.
Board Composition Alpha and Mega both outline boards with 5 members. Alpha: 2 VC, 1 CEO,
2 Co, and last board seat goes to VC if the company does not meet the performance hurdle. Mega:
2 VC, 1 CEO, 2 Co (1choice, 1 board). Negotiation: Given the assumption we will meet our hurdle
with Alpha, both VC s offer agreeable terms for the board composition. I would negotiate to have
the last board member under Alpha appointed by Trendsetter but agreeable to all.

How Nutrition Affects Our Mental Health
Introduction In the modern era of medicine, doctors have been making discoveries about how
nutrition affects our mental health. They are making connections between the diet of an
adolescent and how it affects their moods. An example that has been sweeping the nation, is
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a brain diseases. Commonly found in
children in their adolescent stages. In a classroom of 30 children, 1 3 of them will be diagnosed
with ADHD, and a quarter the of children with ADHD have serious learning disabilities such as:
oral expression, listening skills, reading comprehension and/or math difficulties. (Ryan, 2010).
Those children that are diagnosed with ADHD are usually prescribed psycho stimulant medications,
such as methylphenidate , otherwise known as Ritalin , as the primary method of treatment.
(Chandler, 2010). But a few questions arise are children misdiagnosed with a mental disorder,
when there is simply a diet flaw that could be changed? Are children eating highly processed foods
with too much sugar, being diagnosed with ADHD, but in actuality they have a surplus of sugar
or a bad diet? Parents are searching for answers, on what are the best ways to treat their children.
Some doctors believe that changing a child s diet, by eliminating processed foods can help
alleviate symptoms. However, there are doctors, who believe this is untrue. Presented, in this paper,
are the many sides of the argument can changing a child s diet

Competitive Cheerleading Research Paper
Competition is a key component of sports. For something to truly be considered a sport, it must
involve competition against others. Says Varsity.com. This is all for competitive cheerleading.
They do dangerous things like throwing people in the air and lots of tumbling. They practice for
long hours to get every move right and remember the whole thing without messing up. They have
to have a decent amount of strength to lift people. They must be very flexible. It s easy to get hurt

As the stunts get more complicated, the risks and dangers increase. Says Elisabeth Sherman To help
maintain safety in the sport, the American Association of CheerleadingCoaches and Administrators
has implemented some rules that members must follow. The AACCA publishes safety guidelines to
prevent injuries. Some guidelines include ensuring that spotting is mandatory for all squads during
stunts, that no cheerleader is allowed to engage in a stunt with the intention of being caught or
landing in an inverted position and that all stunts must be approved by a trained coach. Says
Elisabeth Sherman. Cheerleaders work just as hard as all the other sport players with training.
Sports require athleticism, as does cheerleading. There is no question that competitive cheerleading
is a physically demanding sport. Teams incorporate elements of dance, tumbling and gymnastics to
create performance routines. Says Kristi Dosh. Competitive cheerleading is directed by a coach,
much as other team sports are directed by a coach or coaching staff. In order to gain and maintain
those athletic qualities, a competitive cheerleader must train as hard as any other athlete. Collegiate
level cheerleaders report spending as much time practicing as their peers in other varsity sports Says

Evaluation Of A Patient Observation
Critical assignment
Introduction
In January 2015 a patient observation was conducted on an inner city psychiatric male admission
ward commencing at 10.30 am and concluding at 11.30am. The observation was carried out by the
ward manager and the patient advice liaison service (PALS) manager.
The managers from the position of observer were critically analyzing differences of service
provision between a service and patient s perspective. The ward manager by reviewing the findings
will make recommendations for the service which builds on the positives and address any issues
which impact upon the patient care provided.
The staffing levels were fully established with the three qualified nurses, three health care support
workers, and one occupational therapist.
Analysis of patient experience
Nurse patient relationship
Acute psychiatric inpatient nursing is primarily focused on the assessment and treatment of patients
admitted in times of crisis. To effectively assess a patients needs a nurse requires an overview of the
patient s interactions with their external internal environment. Fundamental to this been successful
is the nurse patient relationship, forming a trusting relationship and maintaining this throughout the
patient s care. The nurse s ability to listen, talk and understand are identified as key to positive
patient experiences of feeling supported and cared for (Gilburt et al 2008).
During the observation it was noted that the majority of patient interactions

Growth Disorder Analysis
Growth disorder affects thousands of people across the world. Some are diagnosed with
excessive tallness while others are diagnosed with familial short stature (Peak 6). In one case a
boy was diagnosed at eleven years old, and he had to inject himself with a biosynthetic growth
hormone everyday (Torres 25). He grew up and became the highest goalscorer in Barcelona s
history, Leo Messi (Caioli 34).
There are many details on growth disorder. For instance, people with growth disorder face many
physical challenges. One example is, it interferes with normal activities. It would be very hard for
a person with growth disorder to go grocery shopping, drive a car, or turn on lights. Another
example is, society is designed for average height (Peak 61). ... Show more content on

won the Golden Shoe for being the top scorer in the FIFA World Youth Championship. He also
became the first player ever to win the Ballon d Or, an award for the Soccer Player of the Year, four
times in a row (Torres 36). Leo won a golden medal for Argentina s men s soccer team in the 2008
Olympics, and he won the Copa del Rey Top Goalscorer in 2010 and 2011 (45). Although Leo has
received many awards, he has also accomplished a lot. For example, he makes $128,000 a day
(Prayank). Leo was also debuted on La Liga, and his #10 jersey has become the world s best selling
(Morreale 21). Leo has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most goals scored
in one year (41).When Leo was first signed to Barcelona, his contract was on a napkin (Torres 29).
Leo has many influences and inspirations. For instance Diego Maradona, a former great
Argentinian soccer player, is a big inspiration to Leo (Logothetis 7). Another inspiration is Leo s
grandmother Celia. She put Leo in his first youth soccer club when he was only five years old
(Morreale 9). Every time Leo scores a goal, he puts two fingers to the sky in honor of his
grandmother (37).
In conclusion, growth disorder affects many people, but Leo Messi did not let that stop him from
becoming one of the greatest soccer players in history. Leo wants to give back, not only to those

Plate Tectonic Analysis
The plate tectonic theory states that rigid plates slowly ride on the molten mantle. The boundaries
between the plates are known to serve as an important mineral resource. Three types of tectonic
plate exist: convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. A convergent boundary represents two
plates moving towards each other mostly forming a subduction. When two plates move away from
each other, a divergent boundary is formed. In transform boundaries, the plates move laterally past
each other (Mission, 2016).
Within the mid ocean ridges forming a divergent boundary, a zone of low pressure is formed
allowing magma to rise to the surface. Potentially valuable metals are present in the hot magma.
The valuable deposits are further concentrated by leaching of metals from water permeating the
rocks (Mission, 2016). The water circulating through the rocks is heated by the magma forming
hydrothermal fluids. The hot hydrothermal fluids form black smokers covering the sea floor and
are rich in sulfur containing minerals, for instance, galena, a lead sulfide, and pyrite, an iron sulfide
(Mission, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The volcanoes heat up water percolating through the rocks and the dissolved minerals are carried
to surrounding rocks. This kind of deposit represents the majority of world s copper supply
(Mission, 2016). Mineral veins and pegmatite are formed once the magma cools. An example of a
mineral vein is the Mother Lode of the Sierra Nevada containing gold deposits. Once volcanic
mountains from subduction erode, portions of silver, gold or other metals may flow into streams
and their accumulation forms placer deposits. Other resources are the Ophiolites, a rich source of
chromium which is formed from portions of oceanic crust emplaced on continents after subduction
events (Sharma,

Gender Harassment And Sexual Harassment Essay
Bennett Alexander Hartman (2015) mentions that sexual harassment is based on gender and does
not Involve sex, requests for sexual activity, comments, or anything similar (Bennett Alexander
Hartman, 2015, p. 423). The non sex requirement is the reason that the term gender in sexual
harassment is discussed meaning whether if the individual is male or female that is filing a sexual
harassmentclaim. Although, Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964 mentions that individuals should
not be discriminated on the basis of gender, sex, ethnicity, race, religion, etc it does not specify an
individual s sexual orientation. This writer will be discussing a case where a male employee files
a sexual harassment claim against the employer as the male employee identifies as being gay. He
also is filing discriminationon the basis of his gender and alleges retaliation as he was terminated
after he had complained about his female coworker. Apparently, the male employee alleged that a
female employee while at a dinner and concert after work hours grabbed his privates. It is
important to note that the male employee s performance prior to the incident was declining and
was counseled on several occasions by his employer about his declining production. Furthermore,
this writer will be discussing whether if the facts could result in liability to the employer for sexual
harassment or gender discrimination. Also, this writer will be integrating and referring to various

A Myth In Washington Irving s Short Story Rip Van Winkle
Samantha Rockefeller Mrs. Patrick ENG 303 Sec 8 October 2, 2015 Rip Van Winkle Have you
ever wondered what makes Rip Van Winkle a myth, or if the story even is a myth? In Washington
Irving s short story Rip Van Winkle he uses 3 characteristics to present an authentic mythic theme.
He creates a world for his story just beyond the realistic. The remarkable event of Rip sleeping for
twenty years reminds the reader that time is very valuable, which is a theme in the short story.
Every answer puzzled him, too, by treating of such an enormous lapse of time, and matters of
which he could not understand: war Congress Stony Point; he had no courage to ask after any of
his friends. (Irving 75) Rip could not comprehend all the events that he had missed while he was
sleeping; he was lost in this new world. He could not bear to ask about his friends and family
after seeing all that had changed. Time passed right before him without him even knowing it.
These are the consequences that Rip is facing because he did not value time. It is not possible for
a human being to sleep for twenty years, allowing the reader to understand that the short story is a
myth. Rip s story was told, for the whole twenty years had been to him but one night. (Irving 76)

Yet there was a positive rolefor auxiliary activities which were intended to produce profit. The museum image, as explained by the director and Ms. Mercer and based on their marketing research, reflected two images: 1 non image at all 2 The museum is for specific people. Therefore, this issue is a serious one, if people cannot find the museum interesting from the first place how would they want to visit it? The museum offered different educational programs and special exhibitions, and made lots of effort in promotion especially through press relations and local media. Even though the attendance increases, yet the attendees would be non MMA members. Nevertheless, such exposure helped in the annual membership solicitation. Memberships provide the largest chare of the museum s revenues. As they are divided into two categories, statistics showed that in 2002, personal memberships accounted almost 80% of membership revenue. They ll break . . . my violin . . . I . . . I brought it with me. This quote shows that the violin is very important to Juliek. Juliek brought his violin with him because it s like his hope, it s the only item he has that will make him feel better. The book states, Those were my thoughts when I heard the sound of a violin... Who was this madman who played the violin, here at the edge of his own grave? Or was it a hallucination? It had to be Juliek. He was playing a fragment of a Beethoven concerto. Never before had I heard such a beautiful sound. In such silence. When Juliek was playing the violin, it was his hope or his life. Juliek was still alive and his violin was still in one piece. Introduction The American Revolution is defined as the political turbulence that took place towards the end of eighteenth century when thirteen colonies in America united to attain freedom from the British Empire (Clifford, 2005). The union of the thirteen colonies is now known as the United States of America. According to Clifford (2005), the American Revolutionoccurred because of a series of political, intellectual, and social transformations in the American government and society, which is known as the American Enlightenment. The American Revolution created a variety of opportunities for the American slaves to attain freedom (Waldstreicher, 2004). An approximate of three thousand slaves escaped from their masters in 1781 when the British invaded Virginia (Blumrosen Blumrosen, 2006). About five thousand and twenty thousand slaves in Georgia and South Carolina, respectively, were freed from bondage as a result of the American Revolution (Clifford, 2005). The Revolution s natural rights philosophy inspired the freed blacks to request the state legislatures to get rid of slavery and Congress to terminate the slave trade (Waldstreicher, 2004). Many of the freed slaves moved to the North because they believed that living conditions were better in the North than in the South. Unfortunately, they experienced many problems in the North, such as lack of jobs, insufficient food, and lack of housing, which forced many of them to go back to the south to work on the cotton plantations for wages (Clifford, 2005). In the South, the freed slaves were assured of food and housing. Therefore, the population of slaves started to grow again in the 1790s and spread into other lands that became the cotton belt (Clifford, 2005). At round 1793, cotton cultivation expanded into large scale as a result of the invention of gin. The slaves in the southern states were used as laborers in spite of the American Revolution s natural rights philosophy (Clifford, 2005). • 10. Reflective Personal Reflection It is quite fascinating the shifts our minds can create, how frequently we experience behavioral changes and how much of an impact theses alterations can have on our lives. To me this is how reflective psychology is in our development as humans. And for a very long time, my interests have been drawn into the field of care and mental health. In particular, I have fixated my attention into the growth and development of children. From a very young age, it has been an interest of mine to understand the complex behavior certain children possessed. I mean the smallest of tantrums I saw being displayed by my own siblings to me were quite interesting. I would encounter the bullying of other children because of lack of understanding of the English language. While at the same time, I would be so drawn and pleased with those who understood my struggle and tried to educate me. To me, part of my childhood was certainly an amazing experience. I mean I lived in a Caribbean country where I felt free to play and enjoy life at any time. Then I migrated with my parents to the United States and I felt like I was segregated from my own people because of my language barrier. It is so interesting how much a single move can in a sense traumatize the brain of a child. Even though I am exceptionally pleased with the arrangements taken by my parents to move us here, in order to give us a brighter future. Khepera Mobile Robots For Search And Rescue Operation Khepera Mobile Robots for Search and Rescue Operation Keywords: Mobile Robot, Explore Unknown Map with Obstacles, Gas Detection, V rep, Khepera III, Albers Algorithm. Abstract: Nowadays, using robots instead of humans in risk operations is an interesting point in the field of robotics. In this paper we introduce an integrated approach for search and rescue operation of detecting gas sources in large areas; e.g. houses, factories, and labs. This aims at saving people s lives at bottlenecks resulting from gas leak and ignition of fires. Experiment is performed using master Khepera robot supplied with gas sensor circuit to search map, in addition to two slave Khepera supplied with gripper to take the best path to clinch the victim. Moreover, this paper proposes an improvement of Albers exploration algorithm to reduce the time required to explore unknown map with different polygon obstacles. The proposed approach aims to minimizing the overall exploration time, making it possible to localize fire sources in an efficient way, as demonstrated in Vrep simulation as well as real world experiments with Khepera III robot. A comparison among different algorithms has showed the effectiveness of the proposed one where the percentage of performance speedup is about 30% to 57% depending on size of the map and number of obstacles. 1 INTRODUCTION Autonomous Robots are meant to perform searching operations inside buildings, mines and caves , which are considered extremely serious. Any given location has its own local color, but that of the southern region of the United States is especially prominent. The local color of this region is demonstrated in the short stories A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor. Although different aspects of local colorare expressed, both authors capture the local color of the south in their short stories. The south is most well known for drawling accents, pre (and post) civil war racism and large states with even larger plantations and farms. These are only generalizations however,... Miss Emily refused to pay her taxes because she believed she was pardoned from them due to the fact that Colonel Sartoris had once loaned money to their hometown. Nobody in her town challenged her on this, or the matter that she still had a negro servant that attended to her in her old fashioned home that she refused to update. The local color of the era Miss Emily wished to live in is particularly apparent. Her home is even described as once being part of the best neighborhood in town, another reason Miss Emily was stuck in the past. Another example of local color in A Rose for Emily is the oddity that even though Miss Emily is an outsider in town, nobody bothers to challenge her because she has an Old South social standing. This means that in previous times social standings in the south were taken more seriously than the present time of the story, even though Miss Emily still regards herself with the same old standard. Nobody in the town wanted to go against her and challenge a lady to the point where they unknowingly allowed her to poison her Yankee husband to be. This is ironic because nobody in the town believed they would have been married anyways due to the fact that he was from the north and she was from the south, which is yet another example of local ... Refrigrents are not included. For completeness, the basic concept of heat transfer and thermodynamics that apply are also presented along with pertinent relationship, table aur data and a few illustration examples. these can be used in various forms gasous or liquid , mixture or simple solution.Heat transfer fluid selection can involve complication, multi dimensional decisions where factors such as thermal stability, pumpability, pressure requirements, and more must be weighed in an effort to achieve the optimum balance of performance and economy in your particular system. However, you may be able to narrow your range of options with a few basic decisions. First, choose a synthetic organic fluid, a silicone fluid or an inhibited glycol based fluid based on your temperature requirements. If your heat transfer application has a maximum use temperature requirement above 175ЛљC (350ЛљF), consider a synthetic organic or silicone fluid. Texas Constitution Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However, what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far more timeless and living document. This paper will be comparing and contrasting these four provisions from the U.S and Texas Constitutions: The Bill of Rights, amending the constitution, the legislative branch, and the executive branch. The Executive branch is seen as the head of all three branches and is the one that we believe holds the most power. The Texas Constitution and the U.S Constitution give the powers that this branch obtains. In this branch both the Governor of Texas and President of the U.S are given powers, such as minimal removal powers, military powers, message powers, and of course veto powers. Both of the executive bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when either the Governor of Texas or the President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to the contrast found in the constitutions when it comes to impeachment, in the National government there are very specific reasons to why the President would be impeached, for example treason would be one of those. The Texas Constitution gives the power to impeach the Governor but there are no written out reasons as to what is an impeachable offense, the House of Representatives decide what is impeachable. Essay on Commonality of Synesthesia Induced by Serotonin The study of synesthesia has grown exponentially over the past few decades and as a result there is some level of ambiguity as to the scope of what defines it. Gail Martino and Lawrence Mark propose that synesthesia can be categorized into strong or weak. The former refers to those who experience a vivid image in one sensory in response to stimulation in another , whereas the latter is characterized as cross sensory correspondence[s] expressed through language, perceptual similarity and perceptual interactions during information processing (Martino and Marks, 2001). This view implies that even the subtlest forms of cross modal interactions that take place in the individual, albeit associating certain sounds to sight, deserve some... Conversely, the administration of melatonin allowed for a subject to experience grapheme color synesthesia, in which S1 activation was lowered allowing for the dis inhibit[ion] of S2a receptors leading to synesthesia (p. 903). These conclusions thus support the notion that the uptake of serotonin in the S2a receptors has some correlation to synesthetic experience, yet it is unclear which S2a receptors were specifically looked at. Berit Brogaard recently conducted a study that looked at Brang and Ramachandran s serotonin hypothesis across drug induced and acquired forms of synesthesia. Brogaard states that it has been shown in several studies that psychedelic hallucinogens that function primarily as serotonin agonists, such as LSD, often induce auditorial visual synesthesia . It is believed that this form of drug induced synesthesia is a result of an alternation of functional brain connectivity caused by the binding of serotonin to S2a receptors (p. 5). In regards to acquired synesthesia following brain injury research has shown that necrosis following tissue damage leads to local neurotransmitter flooding caused by an excessive release of serotonin and glutamate (Brogaard, 2013). Damaged tissue requires the cells in the brain to shift to anaerobic glycolysis, which quickly depletes the ATP levels present and ultimately causes the membrane ion ... Scott Fitzgerald, employs different types of figurative language to construct representations of the motifs and to help enhance them. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote novels and short stories during the Jazz Age in American History. He had led a tough life and gone through two relationships prior to his wife, Zelda. Both Zelda and Fitzgerald started falling apart when they turned to drinking and partying and eventually, she was admitted to an insane asylum. Shortly after, he decided to write, The Great Gatsby, which was staged around his life. In this novel, Fitzgerald parallels himself around two of the main male characters, Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway. He tells about his life and of his closest acquaintances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, while Nick is at Gatsby s party, he starts to describe what he sees. Most of the things that Nick says are examples of symbolism. In this example, Nick states, In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars. (Fitzgerald, 39). Since a simile is the comparison using the words like or as , the example present is comparing the man and the girls who enjoy Gatsby s party, much like moths enjoy the light. This is a quote describing the people because it means they didn t show up to meet with Gatsby, but, in fact, they are only present for the party. In the next example, Fitzgerald is developing the character, Jay Gatsby, by showing his wealth through the narrator, Nick Carraway. Again, Nick Carraway is describing what he sees which is Gatsby s station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains. (Fitzgerald, 39). The example displayed above indicates how similar a station wagon is to a brisk yellow bug and how alike they behave. In the novel, there are elements that can only come as a result of his experience of observing, questioning and criticizing, among which I think several are very noteworthy. The reality in his novel demonstrates a special relationship between Black people s culture and the French culture. The two cultures coexist, collide and oppose each other at times and they become a cultural juxtaposition in an atemporal state. Overall, I think Carpentier really initiated a unique way of returning and finding authentic identity of the people on his homeland in the form of literature work. His good control of the pace and timing of the travel can be seen as a counterbalance to the disorder of time and space embedded in the story. While deliberately displacing and altering between historical facts and fictional plots, I think Carpentier takes control of the display of his ideas in a very subtle way. The Theme Of Democracy In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself Heming Chen American Literature Ms. Crowl 1 December, 2017 I Could Be You The word democracy has its roots in the ancient Greek combination of dД“mos, meaning the people, and kratГa, meaning power or rule: literally translating as the rule or power of the people . To simplify the term further, Democracyis an arrangement in which individuals have similar equality in power. First conceptualized and adopted by the Athenians in fifth century B.C, democracy has made itself to be known as a powerful and popular government model today, in use by over 60% of modern day countries. Walt Whitmanutilizes the theme of democracy in his poem, Song of Myself, not only encouraging it as a system, but also as a way of life, seeking unity in all. Although Whitman uses the seemingly singular pronoun I in his poems, he is not using the pronoun to signify only himself but also the rest of humanity as a unified entity. Whitman opens his poem with the words I celebrate myself, and sing myself, / And what I assume you shall assume, / For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (1 3). The first line, its meaning initially seeming rather cryptic, becomes more discernable once the universal I is employed. It then becomes evident that Whitman is intending his poem to be a celebration of humankind. Interestingly enough, the usage of sing in such context almost brings the reader back again to the classics, reminiscent of the epics of old. While all definitions of assume apply for the ... • 41. Compare And Contrast Nude Vs Nude Nakedness and Nudity are often used interchangeably. In Nude versus Naked, John Berger separates them and finds distinguishable differences between them both. He had said that to be naked is to be natural without clothes and pure in oneself and seen as such, while nude is to be naked but not to be seen as one s self. All that is nude consequently, is considered naked but not all that is naked can be nude. Nakedness is the natural form of undress to be seen as is; while Nudity brings about implications and accordingly suggests numerous underlying factors that add on to the view of the spectators on the art presented to them. As we understand the view of art and in determining how one is Nude and the other Naked, It is of necessity to understand a bit of background on art, how it is regarded and seen, and its exhibition in the Philippines Art in the Philippines is often seen as a privilege to only those who are wealthy enough. The creation of these objects was a way of life rather than just something made for the pleasure of viewing or admiring. With the arrival and influence of Spanish culture, the need for a venue wherein artworks may be exhibited was finally introduced. • 42. Pros and Cons of Installing Closed-Circuit Television... Installation of surveillance camera systems as a way to deter crimes or criminal acts has gained traction in recent years. In some countries, surveillance camera systems also known as closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras have also installed in educational institutions as a security measure to address fears for the safety of the students (Hope, 2004; Corpuz, 2011). The trend, however, did not stop. From halls and corridors, some education institutions have started to install cameras inside the classrooms as a means not just to monitor the teachers, but also to address classroom misbehavior (Shepherd, 2009). This paper seeks to cover the possible positive and negative effects of installing CCTV systems inside the classrooms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grant (2004) said educators want video cameras in classrooms to address the issue of violence in schools. Often teachers who are attacked have no way of proving their claims because pupils who witness the incidents fail to back up their stories. Video camera footage could be used to substantiate teachers versions of events as well as to deter pupils from launching the attacks (Grant, 2004). In the Philippines, the installation of cameras inside the classrooms is seen in a similar light. As cited in Grafil (2011), University of Santo Tomas security chief Joseph Badinas said the cameras can be used to track people who are doing something suspicious. The reason behind the installation of CCTV systems in the classrooms can be attributed to the triadic reciprocality principle of the social cognitive theory (Bandura, 1986). Under this principle, human life is consisted of a perpetual series of interactions among the environment, their individual behavior, and personal cognitive variables like thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions. These three constructs interact and influences each other reciprocally. Applying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Bathroom Revolutionaries Summary In this week reading, Calling All Restroom Revolutionaries , by Simone Chess, Alison Kafer, Jessi Quizar, and Mattie Udora Richardson they expressed three main points throughout the article. The first main point in this article is that bathrooms are easier to access for some of us than for others. This is an issue that some people don t know about or don t even think is a problem. Recently this has been a hotbed topic, within the media but I have been aware of this problem for sometime now. Many of my close friends have expressed their concerns about the bathroomsituation well before this became a newsworthy topic. In addition, this topic has always bothered me because it is a bathroom and people mostly use the bathroom for two purposes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I like the way the authors went about explaining the problem and the examples that were given throughout the article. I also thought it was useful to show that multiple groups can come together for a common cause even with their different visions. I never thought about the fact that individuals that are wheelchair bound can not reach the tampon dispensers within the bathrooms. Also, I never noticed that with the gender neutral bathrooms that there are not tampons/pad dispensers which is very peculiar to me because they should be in there. Those are two aspects of this informative reading that I did not even slightly think about before this article. I am unsure about what actions to take on this article because I feel like there should be access to tampons and pads within the gender neutral bathrooms but unsure on how to start that process. I know that it took awhile to even have gender neutral bathroom on campus so I am unsure on how to start raising awareness of this issue. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. With all of this considered, this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard in the decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America. In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the century, and the later half of the century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton, ... It spread disrespect and segregation amongst the population, during the Second World War. they claim. This kind of writing should have been forbidden by law , I have heard many adults say. After the war, in 1945, this book that brought war upon the globe, has retired from being published and sold in stores all across Germany. According to Mein Kampf, Hitler s Manifesto, Returns to German Shelves, published on January 8th, 2016 in The New York Times, a new annotated version of Adolf Hitler s Mein Kampf has begun to fill book stores in Germany. • 47. Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report Introduction: Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed. It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when bonds are formed. Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture. Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture. Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in which the chemical energy changes. In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is correct. Aim: To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions. Hypothesis: It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or endothermic reaction. Introduction Throughout the course of political campaigns, candidates travel throughout a set district in order to gain the support of various constituents. In doing so, speech patterns may be dependent upon the audience being addresses and by how concerned a candidate is with winning that group s approval. Such changes unconsciously manifest, while others could be deliberate alterations to one s speech. For this project, I would be examining this idea by analyzing modern political campaign tactics and speeches; particularly, President Barack Obamawould be the focal point of my analysis. Through in depth analysis of his political career, an answer will manifest. If so, are these changes voluntary or involuntary? In addition, the purpose of shifting speech patterns will be investigated. For answering the first question, my data, a collection of speeches made by President Barack Obama, will allow me to analyze how a national politician may speak when going across the country. Analysis would involve deep looks into the speeches and transcribing of speech patterns. Such patterns may include changes in tone and pitch, hand gestures, selective vocabulary, etc. These processes are similar across the board as all of these questions would require the same looks into my data. To hypothesize, based on previous work in this course, I believe that the results will show a deliberate change of speech with Barack Obama s speeches. In order to gain votes from the people, one must pretend to be among the people. Significance Politicians compete every year for some level of power and authority. Voters grant such authority through a democratic system of elections. Simply, elections are popularity contest as voters look for the person who embodies the values they hold dear. Therefore, a politician fights to earn every vote which he/she possibly can. • 54. Plate Tectonic Analysis The plate tectonic theory states that rigid plates slowly ride on the molten mantle. The boundaries between the plates are known to serve as an important mineral resource. Three types of tectonic plate exist: convergent, divergent and transform boundaries. A convergent boundary represents two plates moving towards each other mostly forming a subduction. When two plates move away from each other, a divergent boundary is formed. In transform boundaries, the plates move laterally past each other (Mission, 2016). Within the mid ocean ridges forming a divergent boundary, a zone of low pressure is formed allowing magma to rise to the surface. Potentially valuable metals are present in the hot magma. The valuable deposits are further concentrated by leaching of metals from water permeating the rocks (Mission, 2016). The water circulating through the rocks is heated by the magma forming hydrothermal fluids. The hot hydrothermal fluids form black smokers covering the sea floor and are rich in sulfur containing minerals, for instance, galena, a lead sulfide, and pyrite, an iron sulfide (Mission, 2016). ...
