Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon
In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with
creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land, and the bird returns with an olive
branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how
to repopulate the Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the
Pelasgians , the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so he decided to punish them.
Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an
unspoiled, harmonious wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his
oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon the burning

They chastised and rebuked Salih, whom they had once adored. The poor and needy of the
community became His only believers. This caused the others to mock His efforts even more.
Salih asked that the rich stop oppressing the poor, and adopt a more virtuous behavior. A few
more people accepted His words. Not surprisingly, most of them refused to heed His warning,
and instead began to harass Him to cause a miracle as proof of the Power of God. Salih kept
telling them to look around and remember the numerous miracles God had already bestowed
upon them. He reminded His people of the countless castles and palaces they had built, and of
their rich farm fields, and technical superiority. He also reminded them of the fate of the Ad, and
how they were destroyed for their similar, unrepentant sins. Produce a camel from the rocks , they
shouted. Still, He exhorted them to worship One God, and be thankful to the One from whom all
blessings flow. There was still time to turn from idolatry to monotheism. Even a few of His
believers turned away, because most people wanted proof that God was all

Donatello s Accomplishments
Born Donato di NiccolГі di Betto Bardi in 1386, Donatello was one of the most influential
sculptors of fifteenth century Italy, his work was a stepping stone for the rebirth of art. Although
his work is almost 600 years old, it is still held in very high esteem today (Funk and Wagnalls).
Some of his defining pieces include The Feast of Herod, his bronze statue of David, and
Gattamelata; these pieces made such a big impact on the Renaissancethat we can still feel tremors
today, making Donatelloone of the best artists of all time. In 1427, Donatello crafted The Feast of
Herod; it was a relief for the baptismal font in the Siena Cathedral in Italy, where it is still housed
today. The Feast of Herod is a bronze relief that depicts a slave of Herod s presenting the severed
head of John the Baptist to Salome (World Biography). The piece is amazing and had a big
impact on the Renaissance because Donatello created a very dramatic scene on such a shallow
space. In the foreground, we have the severed head being presented and the people reacting with
very deep emotion; while in the background people are just going on oblivious to what has just been

The statue was a portrayal of Erasmo da Nami who was a military hero in Padua, where the
statue was created and remains today (Funk and Wagnalls). Gattamelata was a stepping stone for
sculpting. It was not only the first equestrian statue of the Renaissance, but also an amazing
sculpture because it was done in bronze and was such a big project. It took Donatello nearly 3
years to complete and nearly another 3 to get it displayed in the public. It took so long to get
displayed, because bronze equestrian statues used to be reserved for Roman nobility, and it took
time to break the tradition (A Guide to Italian Renaissance Art and Architecture). The statue is
considered to be the basis for every equestrian military portrayal after

Difference Between Traditional Marketing Vs. Traditional...
What is the Difference between Traditional Marketing vs Digital Marketing?
Every business organization knows that great marketing helps find and retain customers. In
general, most recognize that there are several ways to market their products or services. Now more
than ever, people spend more time online than they spend reading books, or watching TV? For this
reason, digital marketing continues to grow and provides a way for companies to market to their
consumers where consumers are spending their time! Traditional Marketing
Traditional marketing has been around forever. Common examples include TV, magazine,
newspaper, radio, business cards, flyers, and trade shows. Traditional marketing methods are very
familiar and generally easy to understand. For that reason, many companies continue to include

In June 1995, GNN was acquired by AOL for an estimated $11 million.
It was closed in 1996, and all the subscribers were moved to AOL s dial up service.
However, it was in October 1994, when the team at Hotwired the first commercial web magazine
deliberated on ways to pay their writers and the idea came in the form of selling ad spaces in large
quantities and the term banner advertising was coined. The plan was to create special sections on
the website for the banners to be displayed on. The idea was not entirely new though. AT T was
one of the first companies to buy ads on Hotwired.
You see, internet is now one of those things that is taken for granted. It s hard to imagine a life
without it. But before the internet, when people wanted to get connected online they had to opt for
different measures. You could use a Bulletin Board System to stay connected locally unless the
system operator was connected to a network like Wildcat, or to stay connected on a nationwide
level, you had to use a paid service, like

The Cultural Impact Of Globalization
Global Progress In an age in which people, business, and organizations can communicate even
while residing on different sides of the world, globalization has played a major role in the
progress of today s global society. As globalization continues to extend its reach to different parts of
the world in different ways, it is clear that it has left a positive mark on the world both culturally and
economically while improving international relationships. One of the most prominent ways in
which globalizationhas improved society is through cultural integration. As globalization
increases, the spread of works, ideas, and beliefs from different cultures extends its reach to new
parts of the world. As more people from different areas are able to become familiar with each
others beliefs and cultures, people around the world become more accepting of integration.
Therefore, as people migrate to different countries they are better able to become part of society
without having to feel ostracized. Simultaneously, international relationships between different
countries become stronger as there is more interaction between them. For example, when
European traveler Marco Polo visited China, he brought back Chinese artifacts and wrote a book
to explain to fellow Europeans the beliefs and ideas that the people from this foreign country had.
As a result, as the people of these two areas of the world became more familiar with each other,
and there was an increase in both trade and migration

Significance Of Silence In Obasan
Writers often employ recurring events to show significance. In Joy Kogawa s, Obasan, a novel
about the Japanese persecution during World War 2, silence is used repeatedly to show
protection. The silence of events in the book serves as a portrayal of love and protection from
whatever it may be that is kept a secret. The silence in the novelshapes Naomi s life in that it leads
her to question the silence and suppress it.
First, a significant event takes place in Naomi s life in which she portrays silence. At the simple
age of 4 years old, Naomi is repeatedly raped by Old Man Gower. The next door neighbor, Old
Man Gower, begins to undress me. I do not resist. As an innocent child, Naomi keeps silent about
these events because she wants to protect her relationship with her mother; furthermore, Naomi
states, If I tell my mother about Mr. Gower, the alarm will send a tremor through our bodies and I
will be torn from her. In an attempt to keep the love and shelter her relationship, Naomi remains
quiet about these horrid incidents. At the young age of 4, Naomi learns to believe that silence will
guarantee no problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

keeps the kids calm and comforts them in that they will be okay. This silence is again used to
protect the kids from rude comments and thoughts of being removed. Although it has a good

Mutual Aid Agreements Are Essential For Allocating Resources
Mutual Aid Agreements Brian H. Doyle Saint Leo University Abstract Mutual aid agreements are
essential for allocating resources, equipment, and personnel between jurisdictions through
intrastate, interstate, private organizations, and nongovernmental organizations agencies in the
event of an emergency situation that exceeds the capabilities of the local agencies. Intrastate
agencies mobilized by a mutual aid agreement consist of resources within the state that can provide
support to the requesting department. During catastrophic events, interstate sources activated
through a mutual aid agreement are comprised of resources from other states that are able to
support the operations required when state resources are incapable of providing adequate aid.
Private sector organizations, nonprofit organizations, and nongovernmental organizations provide
additional support in times of crisis when the organization has necessary resources to sustain
operations. Emergency situations that may arise and benefit from the resources established in an
existing mutual aid agreement include mass casualty incidents, fire and law enforcement situations,
natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes, and terrorist attacks. Mutual Aid Agreements
provide for increased capabilities during natural disasters, terrorist events, and other emergency
situations by enabling organizations at all levels to leverage resources in their favor when the
situation exceeds the capabilities of the local

The Global Economic Crisis Of The Middle Of 2007 And...
Introduction
The finаnсiаl crisis of 2007/2008 was not а саsе of markets failing. Instеаd, it shows
how markets ultimately rесtify their internal shоrtсоmings. The global economic crisis
started in the middle of 2007 and lasted about five years. The crisis was triggered by the bursting
of a housing bubble (Mishel, Bivens, Gould, Shierholz, 2012). It was characterized by massive
withdrawal of investors from markets as a result of reduced confidence, volatile world stock
markets and reduced liquidity for banks which were unable to offer or obtain credit. Some financial
institutions were facing the risk of collapse. Governments around the world rushed to save these
institutions and cushion their economies from the economic crunch through what were popularly
referred to as economic stimulus programs. This essay discuses the causes, results and exists of the
financial crisis regarding financial market, financial institution, and central bank (monetary policy)
of Greece or Ireland and Europe from 2007 2009.
Causes of the Financial Crisis
A country s trade balance depicts differences in income generation and domestic consumption. If a
country s imports value exceeds its exports value, it means that the country is living beyond its
means . To make up for the excess spending, the country must borrow funds from abroad. Similarly,
if finance investment spending exceeds domestic saving, foreign savings must be spent to fill the
deficit. The amount of money a country borrows is

Light In The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby, includes many symbolic elements in his novel
that represent certain themes throughout the book. One of these themes is the struggle to achieve
one s dreams. Many characters in this novel each have their own American Dream, but something
gets in the way that prevents them from fulfilling their dreams. The theme of not achieving one s
dream is depicted throughout the novel by the green light, the Valley of Ashes, Gatsby s letter to
Daisy, the broken clock, and the fruit rinds and dead flowers. The green light is one of the most
important symbols in The Great Gatsby, since it portrays the novel s theme excellently. The reader

Feeling Like A Role Model
Feeling like a role model was an amazing sensation. Working as a customer experience
representative was emotionally validating in itself. Yet when combined with an audience, the work
became doubly fulfilling. In some ways, it boosted her self esteem and drove her to become the best
version of herself. She noticed that when her daily life was made transparent, her words and actions
became happier, more altruistic, and more intellectually interesting. She had been told that this
would be a positive effect of going transparent, but she had not anticipated other changes. She had
not anticipated that being transparent would actually redirect some of her less than perfect habits.
The camera s influence caused her to think more carefully about the way she presented herself.
When she thoughtof her viewers seeing her choices, she felt pressured to make healthy choices.
Thus, she abstained from sugary foods, and consumed socially acceptable levels of alcohol.
When she thought of the camera catching her consuming aspirin, she was ashamed of the image
that this might project and rerouted her behavior. Thus, she entered a life where she abstained
from the parts of her life that she found imperfect. Being watched was a way to curb bad
behavior. Mae found this freeing, and she was revered as a role model for this projected
perfection. This in turn gave Mae the responsibility of bringing light to the lives of her viewers.
This was a duty that kept her going day to day.

Little Women, By Louisa May Alcott
Louisa May Alcott was born and raised in Massachusetts from a financially struggling family,
which will soon change due to Louisa s writing talents. Louisa was homeschooled the majority of
her childhood, which sparked her writing career. Many of her life experiences influenced her
writing but the main one, that got her started, was her father, Amos Bronson Alcott, a philosopher
and teacher. As she grew older, she befriended abolitionists, she soon becomes a part of, which
greatly influence her later works. Alcott s most famous work, Little Women, was published in
1868, and was read by many young girls even today. Evolving from a struggling family to a world
renowned author, Louisa May Alcottinspired her era and eras beyond by her writing talents in her
some of her works such as My Contraband, Little Women, and Jo s Boys (Boston Women s
Heritage Trail). My Contraband is a rich short story that demonstrates just how profound Louisa s
short experience as a nurse during the Civil War was. This short story is obviously going to be
very alluring to people during that time because they wanted, and liked, to know what was going
on in the Civil War. Also, Alcott has the special writing talent of imagery and showing women
strength to be able to effectively connect with her audience. It is still very popular due to this
presence of strong, inspirational women and spiritual righteousness. First off, it is narrated by Faith

Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard...
Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian
Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons
that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into
three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries.
In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly
(UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is
enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel.
For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state
solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for
Arab (El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the
population of Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides,
Jews claim that they have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and
they maintain there is a tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their
historic homeland (Gans 2008: 101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there
were only 1/4 of Jews lived in Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can
compete the land (Lorimer and Malloy 2002: 7). Besides, Palestinian thought the UNGA Resolution

To successfully establish effective classroom management strategies, teachers must have a well

Case Study Of Colgate-Palmolive Case
The rejection of this patent by the European Patent Office comes as a major milestone in the
Intellectual Properties legal space. There are direct short term and long term implications on the
future of international patenting laws and the related stakeholders.
1.13Impact on Colgate
For a start, Colgate Palmolive are struck with quite a blow, losing their chance to patent the
formula, which has a direct impact on their product and market strategy. The company s plan had
been to ride on the success of the mouthwash formula to gain a competitive advantage over other
players, which has been foiled now. Colgate Palmolive will now have to think of some alternative
and innovative strategy to keep its hold over the mouthwash segment of the oral care market. This
patent if granted would have allowed Colgate to introduce some new variety to its mouthwash
product portfolio and cater to the increasingly health conscious consumers.

and a U.S territory. It is east from the Dominical republic. The capital is called San Juan with 77

around August, averaging about 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Puerto Ricooffers many cultural

entertainments are holidays, architecture and arts crafts. There are many holidays in Puerto Rico
a few of them are New Year s day, Three Kings Day, Christmas and more. According to

What Does Sin Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne emphasizes symbolism using elements of nature that represent good vs. evil,
sin, and continual rebellion against Puritan society. The basis of Nathaniel s writing style is
symbolism and allegory, (where concrete objects usually have a hidden meaning). The symbolism
found most importantly throughout the novel so far would be light, darkness, and the rose bush,
all found in nature. Symbolism is present throughout the entire novel. The author uses light as a
symbol of good or evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those
who have not sinned. The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty.
A true example of showing that Hester no longer remains in the sin free light is, Her prison door
was thrown open and she came forth into the sunshine, which, falling on all alike, seemed, to her
sick and morbid heart, as if meant for no other purpose than to reveal the scarlet letter on her...

For the characters in the novel, they seem to separate the town into two main areas. One being
the Puritan community town, tight knit and connected, free of sin, and the other being the
forest. The forest is dark and has major characters of sin in it such as the Devil, Roger
Chillingworth (spending years in the forest with Native Americans), and now holds the residence
of Hester Prynne, all symbols of darkness. A quote that is important to represent the dark forest is
when Hester and Pearl are leaving the governor s hall. It shows the importance of what the forest
truly represents stating, Wilt thou go with us tonight? There will be a merry company in the
forest; and I well nigh promised the Black Man that comely Hester Prynne should make one, said

Social Presence Theory Paper
The rise of technology and, consequently, social network sites have popularized a new method of
socialization known as computer mediated communication (CMC) communication between two
or more people that occurs and is contained on electronic devices. With this phenomenon
spawned several theories that researchers have been trying to answer, including the social
presence theory. This theory examines how CMC replaces physical face to face interaction and
the consequences of this communicative exchange. CMC allows a variety of communicative
mediums which each have their own level of physical salience, or social presence. For instance,
video messaging a friend may seem more personal than text messaging because video message
allows the message sender to actually see and hear the receiver s voice. This makes it easier to
notice and pick up on the emotions, expressions, and nonverbal cues during the conversation. The
social presence theory argues that CMC with higher feelings of social presence will be more
personal and intimate whereas CMC with lower feelings social presence are considered detached

The Importance Of Political Socialization
The main task of political socialization is to shape an individual s political orientation, attitudes,
and behaviors so that they fit into a particular political system (Lee Zhan, 1991). Existing
literature assumes one s most important political attitudes are shaped relatively early in life, and
that they remain stable in subsequent phases of life (Quintelier Hooghe, 2011). As political
participation is a habit shaped early in life (Valentino, Gregorowicz Groenendyk, 2009; Aldrich,
Montgomery, Wood, 2011), political socialization should be studied at the phase in which it
develops, namely adolescence (Youniss Yates, 1997; Campbell, 2006). Flanagan (2004) and others
have argued that a civic identity can develop relatively early in... Show more content on

basic education, despite its enhanced presence at the college level in recent years, and do not
explain why China has not stressed political socialization at an early age. Moreover, due to China s
massification of higher education since the 2000s, the divide between basic education s and higher
education s approaches to political education has sharpened. Therefore, this study aims to determine
how the difference in how Marxist political economy is taught in basic and higher education in
China impacts university students political education learning. This article first reviews the
literature on political education in basic education and higher education in China, especially the
divide in approaches to Marxist ideology education, and describes the design and implementation of
the study. The major patterns of its findings are presented next, after which some possible
explanations for these patterns are proposed, specifically in terms of: the importance of political
education in the earlier stages of life; the role of formal and informal university political education
in shaping students positive attitudes toward Marxist political economy and informing their
political participation;

Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System
Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative
dispute resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make
decisions about evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding
(Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more
arbiters selected by both sides, or a third selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed
are often very similar to that of a court room. In contrast, mediation is generally conducted before
a single mediator who does not judge the case but helps facilitate a discussion and eventual
resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law).
Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that parties which select
mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous, given that they
are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can be reached
that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will not
necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be
embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in
dialogue before conflicts get out of hand. And in some disputes, such as divorce, there are often
many grey areas, with no clear, single person who is in the wrong or right.

What Is The Movie Selma
Selma is the story of the movement. The film talks about the three month in 1965, when Dr.

Johnson decides to sign the Voting Rights Act of 1965. One of its memorable scenes is Bloody
Sunday the attack by police armed with clubs and tear gas on the peaceful protesters as they

the national government to pass the Voting Rights Act. I learn that Selma is not just the history of

The Role Of SMAP In Rocket Science
Who knew that SMAP would relate to rocket science? If I didn t know better, I would ve
assumed that it was onomatopoeia for a unique type of snapping maybe even snapping with your

like NASA. When we approach the problem from as many angles as we can, eventually we will
find the right combination of actions to solve the crisis on our hands. Unfortunately, SMAP does
not solve any problems by itself, nor, in my opinion, do anything efficiently. The real issues here
are finding out what places are the driest right now, and how can we those areas water. While
SMAP does the former, I think there are better ways to do so. I m no expert, but I think

The Election Of The United States
None of the Above
For the election of the President of the United States of America there should be an option of No
Confidence or None of the Above as a selection on the ballot because the voters should have the
right to indicate that the listed candidates are unacceptable, then the National parties should find
and present new candidates that are more acceptable to the American public if neither can win a
majority vote.
I will explain how the current system for a presidential election is flawed in that if the political
parties present candidates for the election which a voter finds unacceptable, the voter is reduced to
voting for the candidate that they dislike the least or voting for a third party candidate which
they know can t win. In other words, in a two party system, they are voting for the lesser of two
evils, or throwing away their vote as a protest on a third party candidate. An option of None of the
Above could paint a clear picture of growing voter dissatisfaction and encourage the parties to clean
up their acts or even force them to present better candidates in new election.
In the current system a voter can write in None of the Above but few do. They just choose to
vote for one of the third party candidates as a protest or a display of dissatisfaction for the
candidates presented by the two major parties. This is not only a vote that is thrown away, but is
also misrepresents the true voting percentages. For example, let s say that the election shows

How Did Stephen Covey Become Successful
Andrew Allen Professor Mike Maggio ENG 112 02/14/2015 Stephen Covey, the Genius of
Success A philosopher of success and mentor known to many, Stephen Covey, was one of the
most influential people in the world. He was born on October 24, 1932 and died on July 12,

Covey believed in principle centered leadership and taught that it was the key to happiness and
success. Covey showed a great deal of commitment to his teachings and hoped they would help
others find success and meaning in life. The way he approached his principles was empowering
because it related to all types of students whether they were looking to learn about religion,
politics, philosophy, or lifestyle, and the list goes on. This inspired humans, not only in America
but across the globe as well, to read and learn about his insightful and powerful teachings. He
portrayed a clear message to achieving success not by luck, but with the power of universal
principles. Stephen Covey traveled to many different countries, and he taught people different
values like, For true success and meaning in life, we must be principle centered in all areas of life,

Analysis Of The Ruined Maid And One Perfect Rose
Women have been the victim of unfair stereotypes and placed at different standards than men since
the beginning of time. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy
Parker take an in depth look at how women are viewed by the opposite gender. Although they take a
different approach and have contrasting poetrystyles, the theme that is portrayed is prominent for
both. Hardy s poem portrays a woman living in the Victorian Era where the norm was to be
married and faithful. The character Melia lives in an individualistic way and is not only
unmarried, but has participated in sexual activities before marriage. With this liveliness comes
riches and prosperity, but also social backlash. One Perfect Rose tells the story of a woman who
receives a rose as a gift from her love interest. The unnamed persona is displeased with this rose
because it is typical and thoughtless. The classic gift that men give to women is a rose, which is
looked at as a romantic gesture. This poem s purpose is to show the audience that not every girl s
dream gift is a perfect rose. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy
Parker explore how two women break away from typical stereotypes and long for a more
unconventional way of life.
Throughout the course of both of the works of poetry, symbolism is repeatedly presented. When
Parker reads the line One Perfect Rose she is symbolizing how this is a stereotypical gift that
women receive and it holds little meaning

Overcoming The Challenges Of Corraditional Family And...
Nontraditional families have become more and more common today, these include stepfamily and
blended family systems, single parent families, and same sex couples. It is hard enough to cope
with the challenges however, when you add the military culture it can become even tougher to deal
and overcome these challenges. We will explore the nontraditional familyand some of their
challenges.
Stepfamilies
Divorced spouses subsystem can impact the entire family in a positive or negative manner. For
the positive effects, we can see that these couples that tend to support each other are able to
really act as civilized adults and move on. This is generally because of the commitment to the
child(ren), by years of common history and/or friends, or genuine concern for each other (Hall,
2016, p.123) . When the positive effects occur, one can see healthy relationships built with each
other, the child(ren), and the new partner as well. This allows for the child(ren) to get the proper
discipline and guidance that is very much needed in children today. On the flip side of this the
negative effects can be caused by revenge, distrust, or anger (Hall, 2016, p.123) . This can cause
tension among the ex couple, family, friends, child(ren), or even the new relationship. This makes it
very difficult for the child(ren) involved to adjust to their new found lifestyle. Another challenge
here is when the military member lives some distance from the child(ren) home; if the member lives

A Formal Definition Of Franchising
Introduction and Overview
In the business world there are many routes businesses can take to try to ensure a successful
venture. There are sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability partnerships, corporations,
limited liability corporations, S corporations, and then there is franchising. A formal definition of
franchising is a continuing relationship in which a franchisor provides a licensed privilege to the
franchisee to do business and offers assistance in organizing, training, merchandising, marketing and
managing in return for a monetary consideration (Franchising, n.d.). In simpler terms, franchising is
paying someone for their business, marketing, and operations strategy, as well as the use of their
name (Obringer, n.d.). Discussed next are the important roles in franchising.
Two Roles of Franchising
There are two important roles in franchising are the franchisor and the franchisee. The franchisor
is the owner of the brand, product, or service, while the franchisee is the party that pays for the
right to use the brand, product, or service. Usually the franchisee pays a one time franchisee fee
plus a percentage of sales revenue as royalty (What is..., n.d.). Unfortunately the franchisee fee
does not include all of the necessary start up costs. There are many other fees and costs to be
expected in order to successfully start up a franchise. These costs are worth it to franchisees though,
because once the fees are paid they gain immediate name recognition,

Sociological Explanations Of Gender Differences
Sex is categorized on biological grounds for example male and female and it is as a result of nature
while gender elaborates sex on social grounds. (West and Zimmerman 1987) define gender as
something people learn to do through social pressure and one is not born with it.it is learned over
a period of time . A person s sex does not necessarily correspond with his or her genderand hence
division into various gender categories for example transgender, gay men, lesbians, bisexuals,
intersex and gender queer. Gender categories are created when a male or a femaledo not match with
their specific sex roles in the society. Human sex differences in humans are between males and
females and they are determined by presence or absence of Y chromosomes.... Show more content

doing jobs considered to be done by women and women are entering in male dominated fields. This
has brought about people being comfortable being in the position of the other sex.
In separation of sexes, boys play with boys and girls with other girls from a very young age. This
makes them become comfortable with each other and hence room for gender a category that is
gayism or lesbianism. Human sexes by developing desires, they then make themselves desirable by
those in the other sex .they do this by making themselves physically attractive. People looking for a
lesbian or gay relationship specify that candidates should be in the same gender category as
theirs.(Livia 2002). Through convention people do learn to do things they want without having a
legit reason behind their decision. This gives liberty to act in whatever manner they wish to and
hence defining their gender.
As years pass by, the society does change and some of the gender categories gain importance while
some loose importance. Also the way they are looked at from our different institutions for example

Freed. The 1900s was a time in which African Americans were oppressed and were still thought of
as inferior compared to whites. However, it was also during this time... Show more content on

One technique I used was beatmatching. After importing all the tracks I wanted to use into
Audacity and ordering them in a specific way, I decided which 2 tracks each I would mix.
Therefore, in order to beatmatch, I had to choose which parts of the tracks I wanted to
transition. Also, in order to transition from one track to another, I had to align the specific
basses. In other words, I had to align where the start of the beat in one track occurred to the last
beat of the other track. This is to allow both tracks to have the same beat, therefore beatmatching.
I also used fading in and out effects to smoothly transition. I used this technique for a majority of
the track. Another DJ technique I used was fast cutting. Because some songs had a faster bpm, I
used fast cutting to quickly transition into another track while also keeping the same beat. I
deleted certain parts of the songs to quickly change the song, but in a way so that the beat does
not change. Lastly, I downloaded a hip hop/R B sound effect and repeated it throughout the
mixtape so it wouldn t be as plain. I decided to make a mixtape containing only R B songs because,
in my perspective, it is a type of genre in which anybody can relate to and sing along to as well.
Therefore, just as other DJs have a purpose, my purpose is to allow the audience to sing along to
throwback R B tracks. This is to create

My Racist Values
species to control our own emotions. This self reflection led me to closely examine the origin of
my racist values and the environment which shaped them. As I reflect on my own family and
upbringing, I am astonished by certain remembered dialogues of my past pertaining to the
belittlement of minorities. I vividly remember my first introduction to White Castle burgers when
I was a child. I came home with my mother and explained to my grandmother where we had come
from. My grandmother had remarked to me that I shouldn t eat from that restaurant as that s where
all the black go . It is necessary to note that these ideologies are mutual among all of my
grandparents. My grandparents (all of which originate from Queens and Brooklyn) revel in... Show

Obviously, there is nothing wrong with interracial marriages, culturally or scientifically. My
closest friends who I ve fought in war with have gone on to marry white women and I ve even
danced at their weddings. What is most troubling to me is why I sometimes still feel that instant
aggression when seeing strangers in public. Feelings which I have to immediately curtail and
address within my mind and resultantly leave me feeling very shitty and self loathing for the rest of
my day. I think the best approach to deal with this problem is to continue questioning myself during
those moments and training my mind through repetition. I don t have a strong racist identity and I
consider myself aggressively anti racist but the road to expelling the taught racist values which
have been instilled into me is long and challenging.
Another event which needs to be addressed
is the feelings of imminent danger I feel when browsing a convenience store and a hooded black
man walks in. I believe this feeling is another result of my society s demonization of black males as
criminals. This is obviously not the case for all black males wearing hoodies. However, as of now,

Characteristics Of The Romantic Era
One must be true to themselves, to obtain human happiness. The Romantic era was a period that
expressed the importance of breaking away from society, and finding one s inner love. This period
dates during the years of 1790 1900 s. Its key characteristics included emotion, love, and
imagination. Until this point, truth was defined by the Neoclassicists as something transmitted by a
tradition derived from the philosophy, art, and literature of the Greek and Romans. In contrast, the
Romantics rejected these assumptions and emphasized the uniqueness of the individual because all
human beings are not made of the same stuff. It s safe to say, individualism and nature were the top
values to obtain human happiness during the Romanticismera.
Before the Romantic era, society played a huge role in how individuals were accepted, viewed,
and should construct themselves. Decisions were made by society and society inputted
restraints of social institutions. Everything was viewed in a mechanistic, perfectionist aspect. In
reality, life is imperfect, wild, and uncontrollable. The Romantic era was a time that one focused
on self instead of society s views. This period made it feasible to break away from social
restraints to express your own human values. Value is defined as things you care about and was
expressed using feelings. You owned the authority to find feeling in life and emotion. Freedom
was achievable and life became a reality because one was viewed as an individual instead of a
majority.
Nature is a major factor of the Romanticism era. The Romanticism era changed the mechanized
world into the natural world. Before this period, salvation was found through the heaven, a social
institute. One had to have faith using a philosophic mind to achieve salvation. In contrast, the
Romantics state that nature is not salvation, but instead an aspect used to achieve salvation by
being present in nature. Life consist of responding to nature by imagining. Soon as you stop
imagining, salvation is lost. Life is a non rational process and one never knows where it ll go.
Being present is what contributes to human happiness and one s values.
Casper David Friedrich s work Wander Above the Sea of Fog expresses the Romanticism values in

  • 2. Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land, and the bird returns with an olive branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how to repopulate the Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the Pelasgians , the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so he decided to punish them. Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an unspoiled, harmonious wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon the burning altar.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They chastised and rebuked Salih, whom they had once adored. The poor and needy of the community became His only believers. This caused the others to mock His efforts even more. Salih asked that the rich stop oppressing the poor, and adopt a more virtuous behavior. A few more people accepted His words. Not surprisingly, most of them refused to heed His warning, and instead began to harass Him to cause a miracle as proof of the Power of God. Salih kept telling them to look around and remember the numerous miracles God had already bestowed upon them. He reminded His people of the countless castles and palaces they had built, and of their rich farm fields, and technical superiority. He also reminded them of the fate of the Ad, and how they were destroyed for their similar, unrepentant sins. Produce a camel from the rocks , they shouted. Still, He exhorted them to worship One God, and be thankful to the One from whom all blessings flow. There was still time to turn from idolatry to monotheism. Even a few of His believers turned away, because most people wanted proof that God was all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Donatello s Accomplishments Born Donato di NiccolГі di Betto Bardi in 1386, Donatello was one of the most influential sculptors of fifteenth century Italy, his work was a stepping stone for the rebirth of art. Although his work is almost 600 years old, it is still held in very high esteem today (Funk and Wagnalls). Some of his defining pieces include The Feast of Herod, his bronze statue of David, and Gattamelata; these pieces made such a big impact on the Renaissancethat we can still feel tremors today, making Donatelloone of the best artists of all time. In 1427, Donatello crafted The Feast of Herod; it was a relief for the baptismal font in the Siena Cathedral in Italy, where it is still housed today. The Feast of Herod is a bronze relief that depicts a slave of Herod s presenting the severed head of John the Baptist to Salome (World Biography). The piece is amazing and had a big impact on the Renaissance because Donatello created a very dramatic scene on such a shallow space. The Cultural Impact Of Globalization Global Progress In an age in which people, business, and organizations can communicate even while residing on different sides of the world, globalization has played a major role in the progress of today s global society. As globalization continues to extend its reach to different parts of the world in different ways, it is clear that it has left a positive mark on the world both culturally and economically while improving international relationships. One of the most prominent ways in which globalizationhas improved society is through cultural integration. As globalization increases, the spread of works, ideas, and beliefs from different cultures extends its reach to new parts of the world. As more people from different areas are able to become familiar with each others beliefs and cultures, people around the world become more accepting of integration. Therefore, as people migrate to different countries they are better able to become part of society without having to feel ostracized. Simultaneously, international relationships between different countries become stronger as there is more interaction between them. For example, when European traveler Marco Polo visited China, he brought back Chinese artifacts and wrote a book to explain to fellow Europeans the beliefs and ideas that the people from this foreign country had. As a result, as the people of these two areas of the world became more familiar with each other, and there was an increase in both trade and migration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Doyle Saint Leo University Abstract Mutual aid agreements are essential for allocating resources, equipment, and personnel between jurisdictions through intrastate, interstate, private organizations, and nongovernmental organizations agencies in the event of an emergency situation that exceeds the capabilities of the local agencies. Intrastate agencies mobilized by a mutual aid agreement consist of resources within the state that can provide support to the requesting department. During catastrophic events, interstate sources activated through a mutual aid agreement are comprised of resources from other states that are able to support the operations required when state resources are incapable of providing adequate aid. Private sector organizations, nonprofit organizations, and nongovernmental organizations provide additional support in times of crisis when the organization has necessary resources to sustain operations. Emergency situations that may arise and benefit from the resources established in an existing mutual aid agreement include mass casualty incidents, fire and law enforcement situations, natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes, and terrorist attacks. Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries. In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel. For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. The author uses light as a symbol of good or evil. In the Puritan community, it may be believed that light will shine on those who have not sinned. The others not in the light are certainly sinners and should not have beauty. Social Presence Theory Paper The rise of technology and, consequently, social network sites have popularized a new method of socialization known as computer mediated communication (CMC) communication between two or more people that occurs and is contained on electronic devices. With this phenomenon spawned several theories that researchers have been trying to answer, including the social presence theory. This theory examines how CMC replaces physical face to face interaction and the consequences of this communicative exchange. CMC allows a variety of communicative mediums which each have their own level of physical salience, or social presence. For instance, video messaging a friend may seem more personal than text messaging because video message allows the message sender to actually see and hear the receiver s voice. This makes it easier to notice and pick up on the emotions, expressions, and nonverbal cues during the conversation. As political participation is a habit shaped early in life (Valentino, Gregorowicz Groenendyk, 2009; Aldrich, Montgomery, Wood, 2011), political socialization should be studied at the phase in which it develops, namely adolescence (Youniss Yates, 1997; Campbell, 2006). • 22. Role of Arbitration and Mediation in the Legal System Part1: Arbitration and mediation In general, arbitration is a more formal method of alternative dispute resolution than mediation. Arbitrators generally act similar to a judge and make decisions about evidence and give written opinions, which can be binding or non binding (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). There may be one or more arbiters selected by both sides, or a third selected by the mutual arbiter. The methods deployed are often very similar to that of a court room. In contrast, mediation is generally conducted before a single mediator who does not judge the case but helps facilitate a discussion and eventual resolution of the dispute (Mediation versus arbitration versus litigation, 2008, Find Law). Mediation has a high success rate, but this may be due to the fact that parties which select mediation tend to be less polarized. Both forms of ADR can be advantageous, given that they are less costly and also can keep the anger involved to a minimum. A compromise can be reached that is mutually advantageous to both sides, and alternative solutions can be found that will not necessarily be allowed in a more formal jury system. Mediation and arbitration can also be embarked upon more quickly than a lawsuit, which enables the parties involved to engage in dialogue before conflicts get out of hand. And in some disputes, such as divorce, there are often many grey areas, with no clear, single person who is in the wrong or right. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Election Of The United States None of the Above For the election of the President of the United States of America there should be an option of No Confidence or None of the Above as a selection on the ballot because the voters should have the right to indicate that the listed candidates are unacceptable, then the National parties should find and present new candidates that are more acceptable to the American public if neither can win a majority vote. I will explain how the current system for a presidential election is flawed in that if the political parties present candidates for the election which a voter finds unacceptable, the voter is reduced to voting for the candidate that they dislike the least or voting for a third party candidate which they know can t win. In other words, in a two party system, they are voting for the lesser of two evils, or throwing away their vote as a protest on a third party candidate. An option of None of the Above could paint a clear picture of growing voter dissatisfaction and encourage the parties to clean up their acts or even force them to present better candidates in new election. In the current system a voter can write in None of the Above but few do. They just choose to vote for one of the third party candidates as a protest or a display of dissatisfaction for the candidates presented by the two major parties. This is not only a vote that is thrown away, but is also misrepresents the true voting percentages. For example, let s say that the election shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Analysis Of The Ruined Maid And One Perfect Rose Women have been the victim of unfair stereotypes and placed at different standards than men since the beginning of time. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker take an in depth look at how women are viewed by the opposite gender. Although they take a different approach and have contrasting poetrystyles, the theme that is portrayed is prominent for both. Hardy s poem portrays a woman living in the Victorian Era where the norm was to be married and faithful. The character Melia lives in an individualistic way and is not only unmarried, but has participated in sexual activities before marriage. With this liveliness comes riches and prosperity, but also social backlash. One Perfect Rose tells the story of a woman who receives a rose as a gift from her love interest. The unnamed persona is displeased with this rose because it is typical and thoughtless. The classic gift that men give to women is a rose, which is looked at as a romantic gesture. This poem s purpose is to show the audience that not every girl s dream gift is a perfect rose. The Ruined Maid by Thomas Hardy and One Perfect Rose by Dorothy Parker explore how two women break away from typical stereotypes and long for a more unconventional way of life. Throughout the course of both of the works of poetry, symbolism is repeatedly presented. When Parker reads the line One Perfect Rose she is symbolizing how this is a stereotypical gift that women receive and it holds little meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nontraditional families have become more and more common today, these include stepfamily and blended family systems, single parent families, and same sex couples. It is hard enough to cope with the challenges however, when you add the military culture it can become even tougher to deal and overcome these challenges. We will explore the nontraditional familyand some of their challenges. Stepfamilies Divorced spouses subsystem can impact the entire family in a positive or negative manner. For the positive effects, we can see that these couples that tend to support each other are able to really act as civilized adults and move on. This is generally because of the commitment to the child(ren), by years of common history and/or friends, or genuine concern for each other (Hall, 2016, p.123) . When the positive effects occur, one can see healthy relationships built with each other, the child(ren), and the new partner as well. This allows for the child(ren) to get the proper discipline and guidance that is very much needed in children today. On the flip side of this the negative effects can be caused by revenge, distrust, or anger (Hall, 2016, p.123) . This can cause tension among the ex couple, family, friends, child(ren), or even the new relationship. This makes it very difficult for the child(ren) involved to adjust to their new found lifestyle. In addition, I used various DJ techniques, such as beatmatching, to create an hour long mix of R B tracks through Audacity. Although most of the songs were from the 90s and 00s, there are cultural aspects in DJ culture that my mixtape relates to. By the early 1950s, the creation of Rhythm and Blues first existed as black music for black people. Furthermore, with the presence of R B, personality DJs began to emerge, such as DJ Jack Gibson and Alan Moondog Freed. The 1900s was a time in which African Americans were oppressed and were still thought of as inferior compared to whites. However, it was also during this time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One technique I used was beatmatching. After importing all the tracks I wanted to use into Audacity and ordering them in a specific way, I decided which 2 tracks each I would mix. Therefore, in order to beatmatch, I had to choose which parts of the tracks I wanted to transition. Also, in order to transition from one track to another, I had to align the specific basses. In other words, I had to align where the start of the beat in one track occurred to the last beat of the other track. This is to allow both tracks to have the same beat, therefore beatmatching. I also used fading in and out effects to smoothly transition. I used this technique for a majority of the track. Another DJ technique I used was fast cutting. Because some songs had a faster bpm, I used fast cutting to quickly transition into another track while also keeping the same beat. I deleted certain parts of the songs to quickly change the song, but in a way so that the beat does not change. Lastly, I downloaded a hip hop/R B sound effect and repeated it throughout the mixtape so it wouldn t be as plain. I decided to make a mixtape containing only R B songs because, in my perspective, it is a type of genre in which anybody can relate to and sing along to as well. • 45. Characteristics Of The Romantic Era One must be true to themselves, to obtain human happiness. The Romantic era was a period that expressed the importance of breaking away from society, and finding one s inner love. This period dates during the years of 1790 1900 s. Its key characteristics included emotion, love, and imagination. Until this point, truth was defined by the Neoclassicists as something transmitted by a tradition derived from the philosophy, art, and literature of the Greek and Romans. In contrast, the Romantics rejected these assumptions and emphasized the uniqueness of the individual because all human beings are not made of the same stuff. It s safe to say, individualism and nature were the top values to obtain human happiness during the Romanticismera. Before the Romantic era, society played a huge role in how individuals were accepted, viewed, and should construct themselves. Decisions were made by society and society inputted restraints of social institutions. Everything was viewed in a mechanistic, perfectionist aspect. In reality, life is imperfect, wild, and uncontrollable. The Romantic era was a time that one focused on self instead of society s views. This period made it feasible to break away from social restraints to express your own human values. Value is defined as things you care about and was expressed using feelings. You owned the authority to find feeling in life and emotion. Freedom was achievable and life became a reality because one was viewed as an individual instead of a majority. Nature is a major factor of the Romanticism era. The Romanticism era changed the mechanized world into the natural world. Before this period, salvation was found through the heaven, a social institute. One had to have faith using a philosophic mind to achieve salvation. In contrast, the Romantics state that nature is not salvation, but instead an aspect used to achieve salvation by being present in nature. Life consist of responding to nature by imagining.
