Essay On Popular Culture
Writing an essay on the topic of popular culture can be both intriguing and challenging. On one
hand, popular culture is a vast and dynamic field, encompassing a wide range of phenomena
such as music, fashion, movies, television, social media, and more. This breadth offers a plethora
of material to explore and analyze, providing ample opportunities for creativity and engagement.
However, the expansive nature of popular culture also poses a challenge. With so many facets to
consider, it can be overwhelming to decide where to focus and how to structure the essay
coherently. Additionally, the ever-evolving nature of popular culture means that staying current
with the latest trends and phenomena is crucial, adding a layer of complexity to the research
process.
Crafting a successful essay on popular culture requires not only a deep understanding of the
subject but also the ability to critically analyze and synthesize information. It involves delving
into the cultural significance of various elements, exploring their impact on society, and
deciphering the underlying messages and trends.
Moreover, navigating the balance between being insightful and avoiding common clichГ©s can
be tricky. It's essential to provide a fresh perspective on well-known aspects of popular culture
while avoiding superficial analysis.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on popular culture offers an exciting exploration of
contemporary society, it also demands a thoughtful and nuanced approach. It requires a keen eye
for detail, a thorough understanding of cultural dynamics, and the ability to present ideas
cohesively. Despite the challenges, successfully navigating this terrain can result in a compelling
and relevant piece of work that reflects the multifaceted nature of popular culture.

Similarities Between Billy The Kid And Jesse James
Billy the Kid and Jesse James are famous for being robbers, murders and just a plain
nuisance. Jesse James and Billy the Kid had only met once or twice in their life, but
how much were they alike?
In the early years of Jesse s life, he was brought up by a very strong willed and
independent woman named Zerelda Elizabeth Cole James. Zerelda married Robert
James on December 28, 1841. Zerelda and James built a cabin in the Centerville area
of Clay County, Missouri. Zee who stood 6 foot tall, worked hard to build a
homestead. On September 5, 1847, Jesse James was born.
Just like Jesse, Billy the kid was born into a great family also, but, he left no trace of
his early childhood. Kid was thought to have been born in between 1860 61. In 1870,

The Importance Of Women s Rights
Human rights which include the right to life and liberty as well as freedom that
belong to all human beings inherently despite of their statuses without discrimination
(United Nations, 1948). Among issues of human rights, women s rights could be one
of the most serious ones. In the 1990s, women s rights were not generally accepted as
human rightsand suffered various violations (Bunch, 1990). Despite women s rights
have been improved so far in most regions that female have almost equal
employment opportunities and enhanced status in society, the issues of female rights
need to be considered because they still have inferior positions compared with men
in workplace and society due to a lot of factors.
The most vital reason for improving women s rights is the perpetuate violations of
women s rights in some regions. Certainly, women s positions in society have been
enhanced a lot since the public has attached importance to female and their rights.
According to Wadesango, Rembe and Chabaya (2011), members of Southern African
Development Community (SADC) have taken measures to prohibit traditional
practices which are harmful to women. However, lack of capacity, resources and
commitment among the implementers make these legislations be pale in protecting
female (Wadesango et al, 2011, p.121). Therefore, detrimental cultural practices
include female genital mutilation, marriage by abduction, child marriages and
virginity testing still bring women physical and mental injuries in
Oil Crisis
It was devastating this past week to begin to understand the detrimental
environmental and economic effects of oil companies focusing production in the
Global South. The extent of pollution of natural resources essential to basic
survival and livelihood is the result of large extranational companies being able to
exercise corporation sovereignty in the context of nations and communities with
little infrastructure and economic support in place. However, it was also inspiring
to realize the efforts to combat this crisis, which have stemmed from both large
policy enforcing bodies, as well as grassroots groups of local women. For instance,
as Terisa E. Turner and Leigh Brownhill discuss in Towards a Global Economy of
Commoning: A Gift to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an idea that many feminists have critiqued in the past, as it conforms to
potentially problematic gendered attitudes and reinforces oppressive standards for
women. However, perhaps we must look to understand these forms of activism in
the context under which they occur. As both Turner and Brownhill and the film
discuss, the women in the Niger Delta were driven to use their nakedness as a last
resort. Trying to enact change in a society where women are not seen as having a
place in government or in leadership, they used the power that society actually did
afford to them as women expected to be responsible for child rearing and mothering.
Upon further analysis we can see such that methods of strategic essentialism have
been undertaken by local women s movements in other national and cultural contexts.
For instance, during the military dictatorship and subsequent Guerra Sucia in
Argentina from 1976 to 1983, it is estimated that tens of thousands of citizens
disappeared or were taken and murdered. These citizens became know as los
desaparecidos. In response, the Madres de Plaza de Mayo, a group of mothers in
Argentina whose children and other dependants had
Insecurity In Richard III Essay
Everyone knows the feeling of insecurity. It can cause us to do unexplainable things,
some people shut themselves out, and others experience strong emotions. All and
all, everyone experiences it in a unique way. In Richard III, Richard s own insecurity
motivates his actions. The insults and verbal abuse that s directed to him regarding
his deformity causes him to take evil out back on others. His use of charisma and
confidence to win over women in the text is influenced by his insecurities. Lastly, he
turns to villainy as a distractionfrom deeper problems relating to his self confidence
issues.
Richard is a victim of bullying throughout the play, and this causes him to do
harmful things to others. His deformity is something that he is very insecure
about, and when characters in the play insult him, it leads to him getting revenge
on them. Anne, when Richard is talking to her as a potential love interest, insults
him, Blush, blush, thou lump of deformity (1.2.58). As Richard is trying to be
charming, Anne strikes his insecurity, which upsets him, and causes him to hurt
her later. Queen Margaret calls Richard names as well, Thou elvish marked,
abortive, rooting hog (1.3.228). This is especially hurtful to Richard, because he
is trying to be especially desirable to win over her daughter, yet he is still called
rude names. Later in the play, Richard implies that he is going to kill Anne, Come
hither; Catesby. Rumor it abroad / That Anne my wife is very grievous sick; / I
will take order for keeping close (4.2.50 52). This is awfully suspicious and
implying that he is going to kill her, which is his revenge for her calling him a lump
of deformity, as well as allowing him to proceed in his plans to take the throne. He is
insecure about the insults, but he still tries his best to be kind to the women in the
play.
His use of charisma to allure women is rooted in his insecurities. All his life he has
been bullied and called names, and so he tries to use charm to win over the women in
the play. His confidence is shocking considering his insecurity. In an attempt to
seduce Anne, he compliments her, Your beauty was the cause of that effect, / Your
beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep (1.2.124 125). Here,
Those Winter Sundays
Those Winter Sundays, by Robert Hayden, is a beautiful poem. Hayden s poem
tells a grown man s perspective of his father. In the poem it is clear that there is
distance between them and little communication. But it is discovered at the end of
the poem, that love is actually present. Although it is only a 14 line poem, it packs
remarkable power into each line. The very unrythmed poem begins with a very
simple line letting you know what tone and mood the poem is set in. The title
Those Winter Sundays , also lets you know that it s cold because its winter and that
its Sunday. Also, that the events in the story took place in the past. As the speaker s
father is introduced, I am lead to believe that he is the he will be a main... Show more

This developing tone of regret is also aided by the poet s illustration of his father
with the auditory image of cracked hands and the sensory term ached , both of
which indicate that the father s struggle with the harsh coldness (line 3). Similarly,
Hayden references his father in relation to the breaking and splintering cold to
prove that his father experienced discomfort in battling the uncomfortable
conditions, yet still triumphed (line 6). His repeated use of harsh auditory and cold
sensory imagery, culminating with a sequence indicating his father s success over
these images, represent Hayden s pensive recollection of his tough past and his
regret that he never thanked his father for taming the uncomfortable elements.
While expressing pensive regret, the poet also reveals the admiration and respect
he gained for his father over the years with the use of active and warm images.
After noting the breaking of the cold, Hayden writes that his father would call him
when the rooms were warm (line 7). In establishing this connection, the poet
effectively equates warmth with his father s efforts and presence. Hayden further
exposes his admiration for his dad when he refers to him not as his father, but rather
as the man who had driven out the cold (line 11). His emphasis on the active image,
driven , magnifies focus on the efforts of his
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Group Project

Factors And Positive Impacts Of Calcium Hydroxide
Calcium Hydroxide
Calcium Hydroxide, or simply known as hydrated lime serves many functions like
reducing the acidity in soil or lakes, an additive in cement, a raw material for mortar,
cleaning agents.
Controlling the pH of soil pH is a measure of how acidic or alkali a substance is.
The acidity or alkalinity of soil is important because it influences how successfully
plants take up nutrients from the soil. Nutrients are essential for the growth of the
plants. The pH range from 6.0 to 7.5 is considered to be most suitable for nutrients to
dissolve (Rodale Inc., n.d.). Absorption of nutrients by the plant may not be possible
if the soil solution the mixture of nutrients in the soil and water, is too acid or alkaline.
The effects of poor development and fruiting from crops may be exhibited if the soil is

Hydrated lime is not a hazardous substance to human beings or to the environment. It
is also significantly inexpensive than Sodium hydroxide that is why it is commonly
used. However, it is more difficult to handle.
Negative Impacts
Using too much of the calcium hydroxide will make the soil too alkaline, then it may
not be the best level of pH for plants to grow in. It has been shown from the
Singapore gardening society that most nutrient disorder in plants grown in soils with
more than 20% of hydrated lime is chlorosis because of the bicarbonate
concentration (Singapore Garden Society, 2009). Limestone is a non renewable
source as there is only a finite amount on earth but as liming has already been done
for many years in many countries around the world. Lime is a semi liquid mixture,
meaning that it will rapidly separate from the solution. Continuous agitating and
chemical delivery lines must be kept in motion inside the storage tank otherwise the
lime will separate from the
The Misanthrope Antigone Analysis
Sophocles Antigone and MoliГЁre s The Misanthrope both feature protagonists
who challenge the conventions of their respective societies. Antigone lays her life
on the line to properly honor her fallen brother, who was ostracized from Thebes.
Meanwhile, Alceste passionately expresses his disgust for the unctuous French
salon culture, much to the horror of his community. Although both of these
characters are typified as heroic outcasts, Antigone s role is more captivating, even
bordering on exasperating at times. Antigone is structured as a series of debates,
allowing Antigone s skill as a direct, powerful speaker to shine. Kreon asks her if
she buried her brother and her response is: I did it. I deny nothing (541). Moreover,
Antigone admits she was aware of Kreon s order, stating, I was. / I couldn t avoid
it when it was made public (547 548). This simplicity adds to Antigone s appeal;
she does not lie to escape her punishment nor does she muddle her purpose with a
longwinded plea for forgiveness. Readers recognize that she is so faithful to her
mission that she is willing to die for it, an incredible feat by their standards. They are
compelled to continue their study of the novel, curious to discover if Antigone will
genuinely commit to death in order to honor her values. Additionally, the morals she
houses serve as a source of engagement for the audience. Kreon demands to
understand why she knowingly defied his commandment, to which she replies:
...because I did not believe that Zeus was the one who had proclaimed it; neither did
Justice, or the gods of the dead whom Justice lives among. (550 553)
Antigone respects divine laws more than those of the land; since she believes Kreon
s rule is in direct violation of the gods will for Polyneices, she ignores it.
Furthermore, Antigone esteems her family more than politics. Although her brother
is considered an enemy of the city, they still share the same blood, inducing her
fierce affection for and loyalty to him. These are themes that readers cling to, being
that they excellently represent the shared values of humankind. Most people exalt
the morals of a higher power or some supernatural force over those of fallible
bureaucrats. Familial bonds

Technology vs Organic Essay example
Humanity s timeline illustrates the past, present and future of human beings;
commencing nearly 200,000 years ago when Homo sapiens first diverged from its
ancestors (Evans,1998). For the next 188,000 years humans were content to forge and
live within the constructs of a hunter gatherer societal organization. Approximately
12,000 years ago agricultural systems began appearing in various places around the
world. An astonishingly short period of time later the Agricultural Revolution
transformed human ecology, social organization, demography, culture, and religion
(Fagan: 2007). Man wholeheartedly embraced the sweeping changes bought on by

The pronounced change from hunting and gathering to agriculture and domestication
can be simplistically designated the Agricultural or Neolithic Revolution
(Pringle:1998). The catalytic developments of the Neolithic Revolution mark a major
turning point in the history of humankind. The resulting animal and plant
domestication established the foundation on which modern civilization was built.
Agriculture is a uniquely human activity and is perhaps the п¬Ѓrst activity for which
humans developed technology. Technology, understood as the use of farming tools
and techniques, is an indispensable component in agriculture. In the most general
sense, technology permits humans to increase the capture and efficient utilization
of solar radiation that drives primary plant production that is the basis of the human
food and п¬Ѓber chain (Porter, Rasmusen: 2009). The steadfast characterization of
human nature can be viewed as a historical constant, while the prevailing woes and
dilemmas facing humanity can be viewed as a contemporary variable. Similarly to
an algebraic equation, clever manipulation of the variable and constant portion can
lead to discovering the value of the variable or as in the case of humanity; it can
provide valuable insight on complex problems based on the past experiences of
people who are innately

position or a position they are defending. These systems make enemy forces think
twice before engaging. One of the air defense systems used by Great Britain today is
the starstreak high velocity missile. With the capability to engage threats from low
flying aircraft. The weapon has the capability to engage targets from over five
kilometers away. Another defense system that Great Britain uses today is the
guided multiple launch rocket system. This guided missile system can engage
targets up to seventy kilometers away. The guided missile launch rocket system is
currently operating in the southern region of Afghanistan. Working alongside the
American forces also operating in the same region. It carries twelve missiles that
can fire all twelve rounds in just forty seconds. All rounds delivering a two hundred
pound warhead ready to take out any target necessary. The three man crew does
not even need to leave the cab of the vehicle to release destruction upon its target.
This next air defense weapon in use by Great Britain soldiers today is the rapier. A

and cruise missiles. The rapier is a mobile weapon system with the capability of
targeting two targets at once. Being a compact missile system makes it easy for this
weapon to deploy for worldwide operations. With a range of just over eight

betrothed Scottish queen to their beloved French prince. The clanging of royal
carriages and horses hooves beat the ground as they pull into the entrance of the

welcome the anticipated arrival of Mary Queen of Scotts. Servants align the walkway
to receive the royal French family, Mary, and her Ladies, finally, she makes her

While watching these shows I ve learned terminologies such as royal court, the queen
mother, king consort, and lady in waiting. One term stands out...can you guess? Give
up...lady in waiting. From watching these shows I gained a basic understanding of
what a lady in waiting encompassed. They were noble women who attended to the
queen, princess, or higher ranking noble women while waiting to be arranged for
marriage (actually some were married). After delving through the bottomless pit of
information on Google I learned their primary purpose was to serve and be a
companion to the queen. In addition, to being a companion, they had to be abreast
about the latest in fashion and dances, arrange masques, participate in political
aspects (only the highest ranking lady...yes it gets hierarchical), and lastly, engage in

Analysis Of The Basque-American Indian Pidgin
The Basque American Indian pidgin found in the north eastern part of North America
was first documented in the early seventeenth century. Although it is believed to have
first been used in the sixteenth century, this was the first time that there was recorded
documentation of someone experiencing the pidgin. The pidgin was created between
the Basque peopleof Spainand France and the American Indian people of North
America. The pidgin is believed to be composed from a lot of Basque words and
influence and the different languages the native people spoke. The native people
spoke variations of the Algonquian language, and their influence is also seen in the
pidgin. The pidgin was mostly spoken between the Basque people and the native
people, although the native people also used it when speaking to visiting
Frenchmen. The Basque people were mostly seafarers and sheepherders, while the
native people were mostly hunters and farmers. When these the two groups met it
was usually to conduct trade of some sort. The Basque American Indian pidgin was
a pidgin used to help the Basque people and the native people to communicate.
Before going into the linguistic portion of the analysis, we need to talk about the
pidgin itself and how it came to be. That is; what the superstrate and the substrate of
the pidgin are. Based on my analysis of the phonology, morphology, and lexicon I
have come to the conclusion that the superstrate of the pidgin was the Basque
language. This
Theme Of Illusion In The Great Gatsby
When Love is Based on Illusion
Have you ever wanted something so desperately that when it came true there was
much of a disappointment? We ve all been through a time when we envisioned
something or someone as the perfect one we wanted it to be, despite the fact that it s
the opposite, and that s the kind of love depicted by F. Scott Fitzgerald in his book,
The Great Gatsby, in which the main character, Jay Gatsby s love and obsession on
Daisy was predicted on reciprocal illusions.
Who Jay Gatsby truly loved wasn t the real Daisy Buchanan but instead the Daisy

Conspiracy Theories In David Irving s The Destruction Of...
Conspiracy Theories have always played a deceptive role in history. Conspiracy
theorists have skewed proper historical inquiry in order to back up their political
agenda. One famous conspiracy theorist, David Irving, known for his holocaust
denial conspiracy theorist is no stranger to this phenomenon. Irving s famous works
such as, The Destruction of Dresden and the infamous case that surrounded it show
how Irving s thinking in terms of using facts and material from the past are used in
order to fit his agenda of denying the holocaustand promoting his neo Nazism. Due to
his methods of historical inquiry through his works over the years, Irving does not
contribute to the established scholarly works in the field of holocaust research.
In order to understand what drives a denier to engage in this sort of activity, we
must look to their past. Irving grew up in Essex County, England. His father was a
commander in the Royal Navy and the author of several books about naval history ...

Guttenplan had met all the prominent players, but most importantly focused on the
two most important people for the defense, Evans and Anthony Julius, Lipstadt s
solicitor. Julius was able to acquire Irving s diaries and other papers. These papers
incriminated Irving as a racist, a neo facist and a Holocaust denier. One document

My Family Has Always Been A Decade Last Year
My family has always been. Out there, so to speak. We never stayed in one place
for too long. Due to the bread winner of the family having a falling out with his
company, everyone was laid off. We moved a total of four or five times our whole
life, with a sixth move sometime soon. Pomona is the one city we ve lived in for
the longest time, it s been a decade last year. When we look at our home, it wasn t a
house at first, it was more like an abandoned garage with an extra room. An eight
year girl was forced to look at the atrocity that was the garage like house, and
instantly like it and claim it as if it was her own castle, but in a very disturbing
pink color. Mama and Papa, they thought that this house was the one, even though
it wasn t pretty. They would go off and say that, the walls will need to be pained
and we have to clean everything. Mama would go off and send me, my brother,
and sister to my Tia s house so we wouldn t bothered them, but I would just be on
the floor looking at the ceiling, rotating my head with the fan for hours, and hours.
I didn t have anyone to play with either. To be honest, I never had good enough
friends to try to call. Papa would go up to us and would say that this was for the best
and we have to keep moving on, well, he said it in Spanish, but you get the point. A
garage home for possibly my whole life. Help. I was a shy girl, I didn t have many
friends because I didn t like the same things as the rest. Like, music, shows, games
etc. I

Electronic Technology In Marshall Mcluhan s The Medium
Is...
The major advances in civilization are processes that all but wreck the societies in
which they occur (A.N Whitehead). Marshall Mcluhan, the author of The Medium
is the Massage, would agree to this and add that electronic technology is reshaping
and restructuring patterns of social interdependence and every aspect of our
personal life (McLuhan, 8). He would argue that society has always been shaped
by the medium of the media affecting everything from government to family,
leaving no part of us untouched. Using the alphabet for example, is a technology
which is absorbed at a very early age in a completely unaware manner. Words and
the meaning of words predispose the child to think and act automatically in certain
ways (McLuhan, 8). McLuhan would add that electronic technology does this in
the exact same way, as it encourages unification, involvement, and commitment. As
we grow to learn more about each other, [w]e have become irrevocably involved
with, and responsible for, each other (McLuhan, 24). If we don t conform
McLuhan believes we will eventually enter into an Age of Anxiety , where we ... do
today s job with yesterday s tools with yesterday s concepts (McLuhan, 9). This
causes us to live in a rear view mirror society, and McLuhan says one must use tools
of the present to make sense of the present. George Orwellauthor of 1984 would have
a lot to say about this particular topic for instance, Who controls the past controls the
future. Who controls the
Banning Concealed Carry
There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding
1,870 (MST). Guns are not a bad thing, it s the people carrying them. That is why I
think there should be Gun control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully
armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they should not violate the Second
Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry in all states,
while banning open carryof guns. Why should open carry should be banned?
Because it could be considered flourishing a gun. For example, Texas is now
allowing open carry. Patrik Jonsson, a staff writer at Student Issue Research (SIR),
reports that Police are discouraged from even asking about someone s holstered gun.
If they do,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing
your gun for everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed
carry, you re required to provide a permit showing you are legally carrying,
However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for your gun permit, but
can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist to
walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people.
Concealed carry is not visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could
be snatched out of a open holster. In a state that allows concealed carry, who s
going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense, not toys to
flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why
we should have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed
carry should be allowed in all states. In addition, all states should have carry rules
and open carry should be banned. We can try stop mass shootings, but not by
restricting the average person s gun rights. We can stop some of the killing, but let s
not make the righteous
The Limits Of Trash-Talking On The Field
Trash talking is part of many sports where the team indulges in verbal sparring or
verbal jousting with their rivals to gain a psychological advantage over them. They
speak some nasty things to each other on the field. It can be innocuous to a degree.
Trash talk happening on the field is acceptable and it is considered as part of the
sport. It involves belittling, passing demeaning comments, degrading opponents and
other vilifying remarks targeted at the opponents. However, it is a professional sport
and there are certain limits. They are employed legally and paid by their employers.
They have the obligation to conduct themselves with dignity and respect in public.
They cannot trash talk in public. Trash talk can cause emotions to run high.
Badger Descriptive
Standing outside of 610 Main St, I was reluctant to head inside. The tannish brown
brick building stood four stories. Its rectangular frame was plain in design; riddled
with standard rectangular windows, you would expect to see in a building from
the early nineteen hundreds. Street side there was a set of standard aluminum
framed glass doors with a brown plaque above them. The brown rectangular plaque
was pressed, allowing for its brass material to protrude out, giving it a three inch
border. Mimicking the border in design, the name Badger was centered on the
plaque. If I hadn t seen the twelve by twelve sign that had Image Management s
logo on the side of the building, I wouldn t have had a clue this was a design studio.

Intimidation In Frankenstein
Mary Shelley was a woman of substantial creativity. The story Frankenstein was the
breakthrough novel of how she felt. She was only nineteen years old and had just
given birth six months prior to the novel and 3 months post the novel. Her thought
process of creation then furthered because she had created life herself. Although
Mary Shelley became very familiar with the parenting lifestyle, creating the monster
of Frankensteinwas an outlook on the intimidation, resentfulness, and disgust she
felt for her own life. Intimidation arose in Mary Shelley because she was a new
mother, not only to one child, but, to two children. Because she was only nineteen
years old, she had never had experience with raising children or tending to their
needs. Mary Shelley did not even know her own mother, so how was she expected
to raise her children without having a motherly figure in her own life. Her mother
died giving birth. Although not exactly how Victor s mother Caroline died, it was
still a vacant absentee for a motherly figure.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She resented her children, just as Victor resented Frankenstein. Because she was so
young, she did not fully get to live her life. Although women did not have much
freedom anyway, and it was very common to marry at an early age, but that is not
what every girl wanted to do. Her husband as well as the children s father was the
poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. He was twenty four years old. Because he was quite
older than her, he got to experience life a little more than she did. She had deep
regret for having children and getting married at such a young age because it took
away the little freedom she did have. Raising two newborn babies was onerous for
Mary Shelley, that stress, is what pushed her to create
Analysis Of Grendel And The Novel The Land Of Stories
When the lens created by the anglo saxon society is removed the main antagonist
in the classic Beowulf, Grendel, is revealed to be a tortured beast who is targeted by
a religion crazed society. As stated by Chris Colfer in his novel The Land of Stories:
The Wishing Spell A villain is just a victim whose story hasn t been told, yet for
many this lesson falls on deaf ears (9). For many Grendelis a thing of nightmares, a
beast straight from hell that no villain can match. But when the society that
villainizes Grendel is examined more closely one realizes that Grendel is really just
an animal who is poked and prodded by an unrelenting society of savages. This
savagery is seen in the way that the society calls the animal an anthropomorphic...

Grendel s visual hallucinations could be a result of schizophrenia, migraines, or
Charles Bonnet syndrome, but whatever the cause of his hallucinations it is clear that
Grendel needs help (WebMD). Instead of ripping the arm off of schizophrenics, a
common treatment is therapy (Mayo Clinic). Rather than outcasting those with
Charles Bonnet syndrome most doctors instead treat the syndrome by encouraging
patients to spend time outdoors (Mayo Clinic). In one of the causes of Charles
Bonnet syndrome is social isolation (Mayo Clinic). Perhaps if the anglo saxon society
gave an attempt to accept Grendel and teach him their societal norms than they would
realize that Grendel is just an injured animal that needs help.
Not only did the anglo saxon society cause Grendel to develop Charles Bonnet
syndrome and treat Grendel as a social outcast, but they also torment the already hurt
beast. When hunting, most hunters aim for the quickest and most painless kill, but
when Beowulf hunts Grendel he chooses one of the longest and most painful
methods to kill Grendel. It is stated that Grendel let out horrible shrieks of pain and
defeat, (Raffel 17). Beowulf was meant to serve as an exterminator, but instead he
becomes the devil of Grendel s personal hell. He causes tears [to tear] out of
Grendel s taut throat, a ferocious beast who is known for being tough is brought to
tears by a man who was simply there to get Grendel away
Determining The Marginal Tax Bracket Essay
If I had a friend who did not want to move up the tax bracket and take the raise, I
would insure him that they would still be making more money with the raise. To
explain the marginal tax bracket to my friend, I would first show them the chart.
Even though their pay would move them to a greater bracket, they only have to
pay a partial percentage of the dollar amount they bring in for income. Everyone
pays a percent of each income bracket range they are in this is different from
someone paying the highest percentage on their total income. For example, if my
friend was making 85000 and has now been offered a raise to 95000 dollars they
would be switching taxbrackets. They would go from paying 25 percent of 85000 to
28 percent of 95000. Where they might be confused is if they look at the tax
bracket and see that their new raise places them in the income range of 89,351
186,350. The important thing for him to take from the marginal tax bracket is that
they are only being taxed on the additional amount of money he is earning, not the
full 28 percent of 95000. To sum up the example in words, a marginal tax rateis when
a person is taxed on percent increments of their income based on the ascending tax
bracket. The tax rates in the United States are designed to be marginal because our
tax code is written to be progressive (Mitchel, 2016). If our tax system was not
marginal, there would be people who earn more money, but make less than those in a
lower tax bracket after taxes have

Bangsamoro in the Philippines
The legal characteristics of a state defining the existence of statehood without the
need of laying down International Legislation in the formation of a state and the
issues in the creation of the Bangsamoro in the Philippines. This chapter deals with
identifying the legal characteristics which can qualify an entity as a sate and the act
of recognition. It considers the norms constituting the statehood criteria and their
relationship with the act of recognition. It is important to note the capacities
associated with the legal personality of states. These includes the capacity to make
international agreements, capacity to bring international claims in cases giving rise
to state responsibility or breach of international law or in engaging in privileges and
immunities with respect to national jurisdiction. Statehood The traditional Statehood

provides: The State as a person of international law should possess the following
qualifications: (a) a permanent population; (b) a defined territory, (c) government;
and (d) capacity to enter into relations with other states. These are considered as
customary international law. There is no minimum requirement of the area or a
minimum number of population in the criteria of a permanent population and a
defined territory. The enumeration uses the word permanent , the Montevideo
Convention does not specify the threshold of permanence. Going

Objective:
We will determine the acceleration of the weights of an Atwood s Machine, both
experimentally and theoretically. We will attempt to verify Newton s Second law
which is a mathematical statement relating force, mass, and acceleration. Newton s
Second law states that acceleration, a, is directly related to net force, F, and inversely
related to mass, m. Naturally this give F=ma. Using the Atwood s Machine
experimental acceleration data (for 10 different runs with 10 different combinations
of masses) will be gathered and compared to the theoretical acceleration which is
predicted by Newton s Second Law using a modified version of F=ma. The only two
variables in this system system that we will control are the the two masses. We ...

The inversely proportional relationship between total mass and acceleration is also
shown in our graph. I took the liberty of plotting the non constant mass by F vs.
aexp. Which clearly showed that with an increase in total mass resulted in a
gradual decrease of the acceleration of the system. There were several sources of
error in our experiment. But none affected the ability for a relationship between
mass, acceleration, force to be drawn. The largest error was the one mentioned
above. But its source was the easiest to account for. We mis imputed the value of
the spoke length into DataStudio. Luckley this mistake was easily remedied due
to the design of the pulley. The electronic eye was recording a time that was
exactly half of what it should have been. This time data produced an acceleration
that was exactly double what it should be. Therefore this was issue was easily
remedied by dividing the times by 2. Other sources of error were due to the
frictional forces in the pulley system, also the masses of the weights might not have
been perfect. Air resistance was a major player when the difference in masses was
large, therefore acceleration was high. The weights could have been verified to
eliminate that error, and more advanced physics could have been used to take into
account the friction of the pulley and the air resistance.

Instead, you used your power to destroy everything created. Welcome to Animal
Farm. Animal Farm by George Orwell is about a group of animals in England that
have strived to take over the farm that was previously led by humans. When the
day was right, the animals had war and succeeded in getting the barn then
immediately starting their own democracy. Eventually throughout the years, the
animals have owned the farm they realize that by the end, corruption has been
created and compared to when the humans were ruling, everything was the exact
same. Therefore showing that the theme is power corrupts and absolute power
corrupts absolutely . The theme power corrupts and all absolute power corrupts

parts of the passage. According to George Orwell, Twelve voices were shouting in
anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of
the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and
from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which. In
other words, George Orwell in the story is stating how now (by the end of the
book), there was no difference between man and pig. The pigs eventually adapted to
the ways man have ran the farm. Since there were no difference, and
Analysis Of Walter Benjamin s The Work Of Art In The
Age...
Walter Benjamin s work on the concept of aura has clarified and elucidated why art
and other media are perceived the way they are. Benjamin s The Work of Art in the
Age of Mechanical Reproduction provides an in depth insight as to the
transformation of art in this new modern world. Benjamin s concept of aura explains
why the new age of technological mass reproduction has had such an effect on
contemporary and classic art. He argues that with easily accessible methods of
replication, the artwork simply loses its uniqueness and individuality. When
investigating how aura would be applied to the modern method of sharing images
through a site such as Twitter, an interesting conversation emerges. Twitter is a 21st
century social networking site used by millions in which users share ideas, images,
news, etc. with one another. The way in which Twitter users sabotage aura through
the utilization of images and content is in alignment with the way Walter Benjamin
felt about reproductions. Walter Benjamin, a German Jew who lived during the
early 20th century, often combined elements of Marxism, German idealism, Jewish
theory, and aesthetic principles into his work. One of his most famous essays, The
Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, focused on discernment of art
with the introduction of technological methods of rapidly reproducing it. Benjamin
used the idea of aura to center his arguments around. Aura, as defined by Benjamin
is A strange tissue of space and time: the unique apparition of a distance, however
near it may be (Benjamin 23) The somewhat cryptic description of this term exhibits
its quite enigmatic meaning. Aura, in simple terms, is the way in which something
is perceived in relation to its environment and its character. A social networking site
that exemplifies the evolution of aura is Twitter. Twitter is a 21st century website
and app that allows users to handle content in any way they desire. Users can simply
read others content, share their own, comment their ideas, or just merely read and
absorb. The unique aspect about Twitter is its retweet function. To retweet someone
is to simply share their post on one s own profile. The purpose is to share the

How The Cold War Changed The Emergence Of Marvel
Comics
The Superhero comics and storylines has always been an integral part of the world s
cultural history and the combination of historical events with fantasy themes has
made them irresistible to comic book readers of various generations.
Starting from the Great Depression in Europe, characters like Superman and Batman
laid the foundation for the liberal superhero tradition which is still prevalent. That
was followed by the Second World War where the superheroes assumed far greater
roles the fighter for their country and a source of inspiration for the Americans back
home. This was also the beginning of patriotic propaganda in the storylines which
became a trend in the wartime editions of major superhero comic books.
The end of World War II was not good news for the publishers as it served as their
primary storyline for a very long time, and as a result, the focus shifted to horror
stories which were designed to appeal to the more mature audience. But, the
beginning of the Cold War saw an attack against the comic book industry by Dr.
Fredric Wertham and the United States government on the topic ... Show more content

The stories were created to depict the tension and political struggle of the on going
Cold War which was reflected through the anxiety of the superheroes for their
country. This era was also famous for the introduction of the flawed superheroes who
were much more human and as a result, more relatable to the general audience. The
storylines were not only restricted to large than life characters and as a result, a lot of
social issues were captured by the artists of this generation through the comic books.
Thus, established superheroes like Batman and Green Lantern started tackling social
issues like gang violence and drugs where were considered to be taboo till that

Mcteague Character Analysis
Reverting Back to a Greedy Animal In the novel McTeague by Frank Norris, the
author touches on various themes throughout the novel. Many of the characters
exhibit animalistic qualities, greediness, and/or both. Characters are often compared
to as animals, while others let their greed overcome them. Some characters McTeague
and Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of being. Of all the themes
noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof the
characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage
on page 323 of the novel. One of the main significance of the passage on page 323
is the mention of animalist characters. For example, the main character, McTeague,
is depicted as having a strange sixth senses, that obscure brute instinct that was
warning him of something that was about to happen (Norris 323). A sixth sense is
an inborn instinct that most animals have. It acts a warning that something is about
to happen or someone will appear. It is this instinct that causes McTeague believe
someone or something is coming for him and to flee from the mine. Also, McTeague
is often described as a brute, which is another term for a savage animal. The
reference to a brute is seen various times throughout the novel and describes the
innate nature of McTeague. Frank Norrisdepicts McTeague as a draft horse,
immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Draft horses were often used for labor

Essay about The Anthropology of Terrorism
Since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11,
2001, terrorism has been a word that every American has used daily. It has been
eleven years since these attacks, and our country is still at war, and we use terms
like acts of terror to justify our invasion of their civilian space. Personally, I do not
care much for conspiracy theories, but I was interested to know a little bit more about
the Islamic culture that these terrorists stem from. While the majority of the
population of Iraq and Afghanistan are practicing Muslims, they can not all be
defined as terrorists. In all actuality, a lot of them may define Americans and other
westernized countries with seemingly unlimited war powers as terrorist ... Show more

( Various Definitions of Terrorism)
The United States has many different definitions of terrorism in almost every
government organization s code. In Federal Criminal Code Title 18 of the United
States defines terrorism and lists the crimes associated with terrorism. In Section
2331 of Chapter 113(B), defines terrorism as: ...activities that involve violent... or life
threatening acts... that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of
any State and... appear to be intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to
affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping;
and...(C) occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States...

property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian
Dred Scott Case
Dred Scott was born a slave in the state of Virginia around the 1900s or the
nineteenth century. Dred Scott spent his whole childhood has a save. He served
the family of Peter Blow and then as a young adult moved with them to Louis,
Missouri. Then, in the early 1830s, he was sold to Dr. John Emerson. Dr. John was
an army surgeon. Due to his profession, Emerson had to travel frequently and was
appointed to various military posts. Well, Emerson took Scott with him to Fort
Armstrong, Illinois in 1833 and Fort Snelling in Wisconsin in the year 1836. To
emphasize, both of these forts were on free soil or slavery was prohibited. To add,
Illinois was free under the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 and Wisconsin was free
under the Missouri Compromise... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, the last way left for them to get back their freedom was to take their case to
the U.S. Supreme Court. So, Dred Scott and his wife took their case to the U.S.
Supreme Court. Then, the nine justices of the Supreme Court heard the case in the
month of February 1856.Well, as the beginning, the chances of winning the case
were little or no. To add, some of the justices (seven) were appointed by pro slavery
presidents and the rest (five) of them were from slave owning families. Well, Dred
Scott s lawyers argued their clients or (Dred Scott and his wife) have lived in a free
state or territory and they should be considered to be permanently free. Well, on the
other hand, the opposition side threw a new tactic or said that the Scotts will never
be considered to be free because the Northwest Ordinance and the Missouri
Compromise were declared unconstitutional. Also, they mentioned that the congress
didn t have the power to completely abolish or put an end to slavery. In the end, the
decision of the court was made on March 6, 1857. Well, seven of the nine judges
ruled against Dred Scott. The chief justice, Roger B, Taney explained that the Scotts,
first of all, didn t have the right to petition because they were African Americans (the

The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) Essay
Growing up in Florida, the sunshine state, all my years of schooling was practically
determined in the months of February and March, by the Florida Comprehensive
Assessment Test, most commonly known as the F.C.A.T. The Florida department of
education (2005) presents (to parents and guardians of the students), the F.C.A.T. as
a test given to Florida students to measure what they know and are able to
accomplish in reading, writing, mathematics, and science. This test is a part of
Florida s plan to improve student s achievement. It measures challenging content
standard, called the Sunshine State Standards. The F.C.A.T. is said to be made up of
two types of test. One of the tests is a criterion referenced test or CRT, the other type
of test is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this, they clarify some questions parents, guardians, and teachers may wonder;
one of these issues challenges FCAT fairness for ESE and LEP students. The
question is, if there are adjustments for these students, they respond by saying that
they do have different measures of accommodations for these students. Discussing
with one math professor he told me While all teachers have different grading and
teaching styles the FCAT, is a unique way of testing the entire student population
and the teachers all equally (Anonymous, 2010) this to me put a new perspective
the FCAT; I always thought of this test in an indifferent manner. Perhaps, this is a
fair way to evaluate what the students learned as well as how the teachers are
teaching. Being once a student of the public school system in Florida, I was never
fond of the FCAT. During my younger school years teachers would make us
practice, and practice, the test taking formation in preparation for the FCAT. In my
experience the FCAT is not a bad standardize test. I do think that we should have a
standardize test to know how the students are doing in the different subject matters.
However, the emphasis that teachers and faculty put on the test is the part that gives
FCAT my negative feelings. If they make the test, a test like any other in our regular
classrooms, I would suppose more students would be more relaxed and consequently

Coca-Cola in India
Coca Cola in India 1. What aspects of U.S. culture and of Indian culture may have
been causes of Coke s difficulties in India?
Something that could have been a problem right from the start is communication.
Countries have different ways of communication, and something could be translated
completely opposite of what was meant. Communication problems could have been a
cause of the problems in India. Also, the different styles of communication could
have been an issue because the United States and India do not use the same styles.
Another big problem is that something could be accepted in India and be completely
wrong in the United States. What some people don t understand is that every culture
has their own way of doing things, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think if Coca Cola would have responded this way they wouldn t have lost as
many sales as they did. Coca Cola also said that if you target a MNC you are going
to get more publicity and more attention from other consumers. Coca Cola just
should have ensured everyone that they were going to test the water and fix the
product immediately so they would not lose any sales. Pesticides may be in
everything in India, but this is not something a MNC should be bringing up. The
only business of matter is that their company is being targeted and they need to fix
the problem as soon as they could. 3. If Coca Cola wants to obtain more of India s
soft drink market, what changes does it need to make?
One big change that needs to be made is pesticide free water in the Coca Cola
products. Indians have a lot of trouble with making sure their food and water is
contaminated, and things like this aren t going to help Coca Cola s business
because they aren t going to want to risk their health. Indian s need to feel safe and
trustful of Coca Cola that their products are safe for themselves. Coca Cola made
also need to use less Indian water in their products if that problem cannot be fixed.
Whatever it takes for Indian s to understand that Coke s products are pesticide free
is what Coca Cola needs to do. The future of Coke in India is in the hands of
M. C. Escher Art Works
M.C. Escher Mr. M.C. Escher known for being one of the world s most famous
graphic artiest. His art is easily being enjoyed by millions around the world today.
He was born on the 17th of June 1898, in the Holland. Mr. Escher became famous
for his impossible constructions, for instance: Ascending and Descending,
Relativity. Then for his Transformation Prints, for example: Metamorphosis l,
Metamorphosis ll, and Metamorphosis lll, Sky Water l, and Reptiles. During his
life time he made 448 lithographs, woodcuts and wood engravings, and more then
200 sketches and drawings. He was also left handed, which only 8 to 15% of people
are left handed. What is a tessellation? Did Escher use this in his art work? A
tessellation is a shape used repeatedly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Eight Heads created in 1922, by Escher would be an example of this. There
are, of course eight heads, four facing to the north and four facing to the south.
Another used in his work was reflection. Reflection meaning a translation that
creates a mirrored image, its like looking into the mirror, put your hand on your
right should its going to appear in the mirror as if it was on your left. The Wild
West created in 1920 is an example, people are facing another as if they were being
reflected. Another being rotation, a figure that is turned about a fixed point. It can
be in the process or in the act of turning, or even circling around a fixed point. Lizard
created in 1942, Escher used several colors to show change and movement in this
painting. The are moving from at least and 90 degree fixed pointed a 180 degree
fixed point. Last but not least, Dilation. Is a the same figure as the original, but a
different size, if the dilation creates a larger image then it is known as a
enlargement. Thinking Outside the Box is a perfect example. In the image a man
is holding a larger dox while the floor is based pattern is smaller box. Mr. Escher
later died in 27 March of 1972, in the Neverland s. After losing his battle to cancer,
died at the age of 72. Giving the world three sons,
Pessimism In Herman Hesse s On The Suffering Of The
World
In Herman Hesse s novel Steppenwolf, Harry Haller struggles with knowing the
meaning of life and ultimately causes him to believe in fatalism. Fatalism is when
one is dead set on what going to happen in their life and no amount of pleasure is
going to alter that. In Schopenhauer s On the Suffering of the World , he discusses
how pessimism causes one to view happiness as only temporary because pleasure is
caused from the absence of pain and individuals are fated to suffer. Although some
argue that Harry is an optimist because he views sufferingas beneficial, I claim that
Steppenwolf is a pessimist because he views happiness as only temporary and his
fate in life is to suffer. It is important to discuss Harry Haller s view of suffering
because viewing happiness as something that is supposed to be short lived is not
healthy because it causes a lack of gratitude for the limited amount of pleasure one
gets from a world that is already full of suffering.
One distinction that shows Steppenwolf is a pessimist because of how views his love
with Maria: temporary and frivolous. This is shown when Harry explains, it was
happiness that I experienced...I was bathed in joy like a rippling pool. And yet that
was only the shell within all was significant and tense with fate (157). This quote
shows that Harry s love can only last for a short amount of time because his fate is
to ultimately suffer in his life and being in love will not change his life sentence.
Hesse specifically uses the
Daniel Bernoulli
Daniel Bernoulli (Groningen, 8 February 1700 Basel, 8 March 1782) was aDutch
Swiss mathematician and was one of the many prominent mathematicians in
theBernoulli family. He is particularly remembered for his applications of
mathematics to mechanics, especially fluid mechanics, and for his pioneering work
in probability andstatistics. Bernoulli s work is still studied at length by many
schools of science throughout the world.
In Physics :
He is the earliest writer who attempted to formulate a kinetic theory of gases, and he
applied the idea to explain Boyle s law.[2]
He worked with Euler on elasticity and the development of the Euler Bernoulli beam
equation.[9] Bernoulli s principle is of critical use inaerodynamics.[4]

By multiplying with the fluid density ПЃ,equation (A) can be rewritten as:
or:
where: is dynamic pressure, is the piezometric head or hydraulic head (the sum of
the elevation z and the pressure head)[8][9] and is the total pressure (the sum of the
static pressure p and dynamic pressure q).[10]
The constant in the Bernoulli equation can be normalised. A common approach is in
terms of total head or energy head H:
The above equations suggest there is a flow speed at which pressure is zero, and
at even higher speeds the pressure is negative. Most often, gases and liquids are
not capable of negative absolute pressure, or even zero pressure, so clearly
Bernoulli s equation ceases to be valid before zero pressure is reached. In liquids
when the pressure becomes too low cavitation occurs. The above equations use a
linear relationship between flow speed squared and pressure. At higher flow speeds
in gases, or for sound waves in liquid, the changes in mass density become significant
so that the assumption of constant density is invalid
Simplified form
In many applications of Bernoulli s equation, the change in the ПЃ g z term along the
streamline is so small compared with the other terms it can be ignored. For example,
in the case of aircraft in flight, the change in height z along a streamline is so small
the ПЃ g z term can be omitted. This allows the above equation to be presented in the
following simplified form:
where p0

Essay On Popular Culture

  • 1. Essay On Popular Culture Writing an essay on the topic of popular culture can be both intriguing and challenging. The Importance Of Women s Rights Human rights which include the right to life and liberty as well as freedom that belong to all human beings inherently despite of their statuses without discrimination (United Nations, 1948). Among issues of human rights, women s rights could be one of the most serious ones. In the 1990s, women s rights were not generally accepted as human rightsand suffered various violations (Bunch, 1990). Despite women s rights have been improved so far in most regions that female have almost equal employment opportunities and enhanced status in society, the issues of female rights need to be considered because they still have inferior positions compared with men in workplace and society due to a lot of factors. The most vital reason for improving women s rights is the perpetuate violations of women s rights in some regions. Certainly, women s positions in society have been enhanced a lot since the public has attached importance to female and their rights. • 6. Insecurity In Richard III Essay Everyone knows the feeling of insecurity. It can cause us to do unexplainable things, some people shut themselves out, and others experience strong emotions. All and all, everyone experiences it in a unique way. In Richard III, Richard s own insecurity motivates his actions. The insults and verbal abuse that s directed to him regarding his deformity causes him to take evil out back on others. His use of charisma and confidence to win over women in the text is influenced by his insecurities. Lastly, he turns to villainy as a distractionfrom deeper problems relating to his self confidence issues. Richard is a victim of bullying throughout the play, and this causes him to do harmful things to others. His deformity is something that he is very insecure about, and when characters in the play insult him, it leads to him getting revenge on them. Anne, when Richard is talking to her as a potential love interest, insults him, Blush, blush, thou lump of deformity (1.2.58). As Richard is trying to be charming, Anne strikes his insecurity, which upsets him, and causes him to hurt her later. Queen Margaret calls Richard names as well, Thou elvish marked, abortive, rooting hog (1.3.228). This is especially hurtful to Richard, because he is trying to be especially desirable to win over her daughter, yet he is still called rude names. Later in the play, Richard implies that he is going to kill Anne, Come hither; Catesby. Rumor it abroad / That Anne my wife is very grievous sick; / I will take order for keeping close (4.2.50 52). This is awfully suspicious and implying that he is going to kill her, which is his revenge for her calling him a lump of deformity, as well as allowing him to proceed in his plans to take the throne. He is insecure about the insults, but he still tries his best to be kind to the women in the play. His use of charisma to allure women is rooted in his insecurities. All his life he has been bullied and called names, and so he tries to use charm to win over the women in the play. His confidence is shocking considering his insecurity. In an attempt to seduce Anne, he compliments her, Your beauty was the cause of that effect, / Your beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep (1.2.124 125). Here,

His repeated use of harsh auditory and cold sensory imagery, culminating with a sequence indicating his father s success over these images, represent Hayden s pensive recollection of his tough past and his regret that he never thanked his father for taming the uncomfortable elements. While expressing pensive regret, the poet also reveals the admiration and respect he gained for his father over the years with the use of active and warm images. After noting the breaking of the cold, Hayden writes that his father would call him when the rooms were warm (line 7). In establishing this connection, the poet effectively equates warmth with his father s efforts and presence. Hayden further exposes his admiration for his dad when he refers to him not as his father, but rather as the man who had driven out the cold (line 11). • 10. The Misanthrope Antigone Analysis Sophocles Antigone and MoliГЁre s The Misanthrope both feature protagonists who challenge the conventions of their respective societies. Antigone lays her life on the line to properly honor her fallen brother, who was ostracized from Thebes. Meanwhile, Alceste passionately expresses his disgust for the unctuous French salon culture, much to the horror of his community. Although both of these characters are typified as heroic outcasts, Antigone s role is more captivating, even bordering on exasperating at times. Antigone is structured as a series of debates, allowing Antigone s skill as a direct, powerful speaker to shine. Kreon asks her if she buried her brother and her response is: I did it. I deny nothing (541). Moreover, Antigone admits she was aware of Kreon s order, stating, I was. / I couldn t avoid it when it was made public (547 548). This simplicity adds to Antigone s appeal; she does not lie to escape her punishment nor does she muddle her purpose with a longwinded plea for forgiveness. Readers recognize that she is so faithful to her mission that she is willing to die for it, an incredible feat by their standards. They are compelled to continue their study of the novel, curious to discover if Antigone will genuinely commit to death in order to honor her values. Additionally, the morals she houses serve as a source of engagement for the audience. Kreon demands to understand why she knowingly defied his commandment, to which she replies: ...because I did not believe that Zeus was the one who had proclaimed it; neither did Justice, or the gods of the dead whom Justice lives among. (550 553) Antigone respects divine laws more than those of the land; since she believes Kreon s rule is in direct violation of the gods will for Polyneices, she ignores it. Furthermore, Antigone esteems her family more than politics. Although her brother is considered an enemy of the city, they still share the same blood, inducing her fierce affection for and loyalty to him. These are themes that readers cling to, being that they excellently represent the shared values of humankind. Most people exalt the morals of a higher power or some supernatural force over those of fallible bureaucrats. Familial bonds

That is why I think there should be Gun control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry in all states, while banning open carryof guns. Why should open carry should be banned? Because it could be considered flourishing a gun. For example, Texas is now allowing open carry. Patrik Jonsson, a staff writer at Student Issue Research (SIR), reports that Police are discouraged from even asking about someone s holstered gun. If they do,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing your gun for everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed carry, you re required to provide a permit showing you are legally carrying, However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for your gun permit, but can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist to walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people. Concealed carry is not visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could be snatched out of a open holster. In a state that allows concealed carry, who s going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense, not toys to flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why we should have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed carry should be allowed in all states. In addition, all states should have carry rules and open carry should be banned. We can try stop mass shootings, but not by restricting the average person s gun rights. We can stop some of the killing, but let s not make the righteous

Its rectangular frame was plain in design; riddled with standard rectangular windows, you would expect to see in a building from the early nineteen hundreds. Street side there was a set of standard aluminum framed glass doors with a brown plaque above them. The brown rectangular plaque was pressed, allowing for its brass material to protrude out, giving it a three inch border. Mimicking the border in design, the name Badger was centered on the plaque. She was only nineteen years old and had just given birth six months prior to the novel and 3 months post the novel. Her thought process of creation then furthered because she had created life herself. Although Mary Shelley became very familiar with the parenting lifestyle, creating the monster of Frankensteinwas an outlook on the intimidation, resentfulness, and disgust she felt for her own life. Intimidation arose in Mary Shelley because she was a new mother, not only to one child, but, to two children. Because she was only nineteen years old, she had never had experience with raising children or tending to their needs. As stated by Chris Colfer in his novel The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell A villain is just a victim whose story hasn t been told, yet for many this lesson falls on deaf ears (9). For many Grendelis a thing of nightmares, a beast straight from hell that no villain can match. In one of the causes of Charles Bonnet syndrome is social isolation (Mayo Clinic). Perhaps if the anglo saxon society gave an attempt to accept Grendel and teach him their societal norms than they would realize that Grendel is just an injured animal that needs help. Not only did the anglo saxon society cause Grendel to develop Charles Bonnet syndrome and treat Grendel as a social outcast, but they also torment the already hurt beast. • 26. Determining The Marginal Tax Bracket Essay If I had a friend who did not want to move up the tax bracket and take the raise, I would insure him that they would still be making more money with the raise. To explain the marginal tax bracket to my friend, I would first show them the chart. Even though their pay would move them to a greater bracket, they only have to pay a partial percentage of the dollar amount they bring in for income. Everyone pays a percent of each income bracket range they are in this is different from someone paying the highest percentage on their total income. For example, if my friend was making 85000 and has now been offered a raise to 95000 dollars they would be switching taxbrackets. They would go from paying 25 percent of 85000 to 28 percent of 95000. Where they might be confused is if they look at the tax bracket and see that their new raise places them in the income range of 89,351 186,350. The important thing for him to take from the marginal tax bracket is that they are only being taxed on the additional amount of money he is earning, not the full 28 percent of 95000. To sum up the example in words, a marginal tax rateis when a person is taxed on percent increments of their income based on the ascending tax bracket. The tax rates in the United States are designed to be marginal because our tax code is written to be progressive (Mitchel, 2016). If our tax system was not marginal, there would be people who earn more money, but make less than those in a lower tax bracket after taxes have

These are considered as customary international law. There is no minimum requirement of the area or a minimum number of population in the criteria of a permanent population and a defined territory. We will attempt to verify Newton s Second law which is a mathematical statement relating force, mass, and acceleration. Newton s Second law states that acceleration, a, is directly related to net force, F, and inversely related to mass, m. Naturally this give F=ma. Using the Atwood s Machine experimental acceleration data (for 10 different runs with 10 different combinations of masses) will be gathered and compared to the theoretical acceleration which is predicted by Newton s Second Law using a modified version of F=ma. The inversely proportional relationship between total mass and acceleration is also shown in our graph. I took the liberty of plotting the non constant mass by F vs. aexp. Which clearly showed that with an increase in total mass resulted in a gradual decrease of the acceleration of the system. There were several sources of error in our experiment. But none affected the ability for a relationship between mass, acceleration, force to be drawn. The largest error was the one mentioned above. But its source was the easiest to account for. We mis imputed the value of the spoke length into DataStudio. Luckley this mistake was easily remedied due to the design of the pulley. The electronic eye was recording a time that was exactly half of what it should have been. This time data produced an acceleration that was exactly double what it should be. Therefore this was issue was easily remedied by dividing the times by 2. Other sources of error were due to the frictional forces in the pulley system, also the masses of the weights might not have been perfect. Air resistance was a major player when the difference in masses was large, therefore acceleration was high. The weights could have been verified to eliminate that error, and more advanced physics could have been used to take into account the friction of the pulley and the air resistance.

  • 37. Analysis Of Walter Benjamin s The Work Of Art In The Age... Walter Benjamin s work on the concept of aura has clarified and elucidated why art and other media are perceived the way they are. Benjamin s The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction provides an in depth insight as to the transformation of art in this new modern world. Benjamin s concept of aura explains why the new age of technological mass reproduction has had such an effect on contemporary and classic art. He argues that with easily accessible methods of replication, the artwork simply loses its uniqueness and individuality. When investigating how aura would be applied to the modern method of sharing images through a site such as Twitter, an interesting conversation emerges. Twitter is a 21st century social networking site used by millions in which users share ideas, images, news, etc. with one another. The way in which Twitter users sabotage aura through the utilization of images and content is in alignment with the way Walter Benjamin felt about reproductions. Walter Benjamin, a German Jew who lived during the early 20th century, often combined elements of Marxism, German idealism, Jewish theory, and aesthetic principles into his work. One of his most famous essays, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, focused on discernment of art with the introduction of technological methods of rapidly reproducing it. Benjamin used the idea of aura to center his arguments around. Aura, as defined by Benjamin is A strange tissue of space and time: the unique apparition of a distance, however near it may be (Benjamin 23) The somewhat cryptic description of this term exhibits its quite enigmatic meaning. Aura, in simple terms, is the way in which something is perceived in relation to its environment and its character. A social networking site that exemplifies the evolution of aura is Twitter. Twitter is a 21st century website and app that allows users to handle content in any way they desire. Users can simply read others content, share their own, comment their ideas, or just merely read and absorb. The unique aspect about Twitter is its retweet function. That was followed by the Second World War where the superheroes assumed far greater roles the fighter for their country and a source of inspiration for the Americans back home. This was also the beginning of patriotic propaganda in the storylines which became a trend in the wartime editions of major superhero comic books. The end of World War II was not good news for the publishers as it served as their primary storyline for a very long time, and as a result, the focus shifted to horror stories which were designed to appeal to the more mature audience. Some characters McTeague and Trina also return to a previous place and/or state of being. Of all the themes noted in McTeague, the animal like qualities, the greed, and the reversionof the characters are major reoccurring themes that can be found in the selected passage on page 323 of the novel. One of the main significance of the passage on page 323 is the mention of animalist characters. For example, the main character, McTeague, is depicted as having a strange sixth senses, that obscure brute instinct that was warning him of something that was about to happen (Norris 323). A sixth sense is an inborn instinct that most animals have. It acts a warning that something is about to happen or someone will appear. It is this instinct that causes McTeague believe someone or something is coming for him and to flee from the mine. Also, McTeague is often described as a brute, which is another term for a savage animal. The reference to a brute is seen various times throughout the novel and describes the innate nature of McTeague. Then, the nine justices of the Supreme Court heard the case in the month of February 1856.Well, as the beginning, the chances of winning the case were little or no. To add, some of the justices (seven) were appointed by pro slavery presidents and the rest (five) of them were from slave owning families. Well, Dred Scott s lawyers argued their clients or (Dred Scott and his wife) have lived in a free state or territory and they should be considered to be permanently free. Well, on the other hand, the opposition side threw a new tactic or said that the Scotts will never be considered to be free because the Northwest Ordinance and the Missouri Compromise were declared unconstitutional. Also, they mentioned that the congress didn t have the power to completely abolish or put an end to slavery. In the end, the decision of the court was made on March 6, 1857. Well, seven of the nine judges ruled against Dred Scott. The chief justice, Roger B, Taney explained that the Scotts, first of all, didn t have the right to petition because they were African Americans (the African Americans were no considered to be
  • 45. The Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) Essay Growing up in Florida, the sunshine state, all my years of schooling was practically determined in the months of February and March, by the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, most commonly known as the F.C.A.T. The Florida department of education (2005) presents (to parents and guardians of the students), the F.C.A.T. as a test given to Florida students to measure what they know and are able to accomplish in reading, writing, mathematics, and science. This test is a part of Florida s plan to improve student s achievement. It measures challenging content standard, called the Sunshine State Standards. The F.C.A.T. is said to be made up of two types of test. One of the tests is a criterion referenced test or CRT, the other type of test is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this, they clarify some questions parents, guardians, and teachers may wonder; one of these issues challenges FCAT fairness for ESE and LEP students. The question is, if there are adjustments for these students, they respond by saying that they do have different measures of accommodations for these students. Discussing with one math professor he told me While all teachers have different grading and teaching styles the FCAT, is a unique way of testing the entire student population and the teachers all equally (Anonymous, 2010) this to me put a new perspective the FCAT; I always thought of this test in an indifferent manner. Perhaps, this is a fair way to evaluate what the students learned as well as how the teachers are teaching. Being once a student of the public school system in Florida, I was never fond of the FCAT. During my younger school years teachers would make us practice, and practice, the test taking formation in preparation for the FCAT. In my experience the FCAT is not a bad standardize test. I do think that we should have a standardize test to know how the students are doing in the different subject matters. However, the emphasis that teachers and faculty put on the test is the part that gives FCAT my negative feelings. If they make the test, a test like any other in our regular classrooms, I would suppose more students would be more relaxed and consequently do
  • 46. Coca-Cola in India Coca Cola in India 1. What aspects of U.S. culture and of Indian culture may have been causes of Coke s difficulties in India? Something that could have been a problem right from the start is communication. Countries have different ways of communication, and something could be translated completely opposite of what was meant. Communication problems could have been a cause of the problems in India. Also, the different styles of communication could have been an issue because the United States and India do not use the same styles. Another big problem is that something could be accepted in India and be completely wrong in the United States. What some people don t understand is that every culture has their own way of doing things, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think if Coca Cola would have responded this way they wouldn t have lost as many sales as they did. Coca Cola also said that if you target a MNC you are going to get more publicity and more attention from other consumers. Coca Cola just should have ensured everyone that they were going to test the water and fix the product immediately so they would not lose any sales. Pesticides may be in everything in India, but this is not something a MNC should be bringing up. The only business of matter is that their company is being targeted and they need to fix the problem as soon as they could. 3. If Coca Cola wants to obtain more of India s soft drink market, what changes does it need to make? One big change that needs to be made is pesticide free water in the Coca Cola products. Indians have a lot of trouble with making sure their food and water is contaminated, and things like this aren t going to help Coca Cola s business because they aren t going to want to risk their health. Indian s need to feel safe and trustful of Coca Cola that their products are safe for themselves. Coca Cola made also need to use less Indian water in their products if that problem cannot be fixed. Whatever it takes for Indian s to understand that Coke s products are pesticide free is what Coca Cola needs to do. The future of Coke in India is in the hands of

He was born on the 17th of June 1898, in the Holland. Mr. Escher became famous for his impossible constructions, for instance: Ascending and Descending, Relativity. Then for his Transformation Prints, for example: Metamorphosis l, Metamorphosis ll, and Metamorphosis lll, Sky Water l, and Reptiles. During his life time he made 448 lithographs, woodcuts and wood engravings, and more then 200 sketches and drawings. He was also left handed, which only 8 to 15% of people are left handed. What is a tessellation? Did Escher use this in his art work? A tessellation is a shape used repeatedly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Eight Heads created in 1922, by Escher would be an example of this. There are, of course eight heads, four facing to the north and four facing to the south. Another used in his work was reflection. Reflection meaning a translation that creates a mirrored image, its like looking into the mirror, put your hand on your right should its going to appear in the mirror as if it was on your left. The Wild West created in 1920 is an example, people are facing another as if they were being reflected. Another being rotation, a figure that is turned about a fixed point. It can be in the process or in the act of turning, or even circling around a fixed point. Lizard created in 1942, Escher used several colors to show change and movement in this painting. The are moving from at least and 90 degree fixed pointed a 180 degree fixed point. Last but not least, Dilation. Is a the same figure as the original, but a different size, if the dilation creates a larger image then it is known as a enlargement. Thinking Outside the Box is a perfect example. In the image a man is holding a larger dox while the floor is based pattern is smaller box. Mr. Escher later died in 27 March of 1972, in the Neverland s. After losing his battle to cancer, died at the age of 72. Giving the world three sons,
  • 48. Pessimism In Herman Hesse s On The Suffering Of The World In Herman Hesse s novel Steppenwolf, Harry Haller struggles with knowing the meaning of life and ultimately causes him to believe in fatalism. Fatalism is when one is dead set on what going to happen in their life and no amount of pleasure is going to alter that. In Schopenhauer s On the Suffering of the World , he discusses how pessimism causes one to view happiness as only temporary because pleasure is caused from the absence of pain and individuals are fated to suffer. Although some argue that Harry is an optimist because he views sufferingas beneficial, I claim that Steppenwolf is a pessimist because he views happiness as only temporary and his fate in life is to suffer. It is important to discuss Harry Haller s view of suffering because viewing happiness as something that is supposed to be short lived is not healthy because it causes a lack of gratitude for the limited amount of pleasure one gets from a world that is already full of suffering. One distinction that shows Steppenwolf is a pessimist because of how views his love with Maria: temporary and frivolous. This is shown when Harry explains, it was happiness that I experienced...I was bathed in joy like a rippling pool. And yet that was only the shell within all was significant and tense with fate (157). This quote shows that Harry s love can only last for a short amount of time because his fate is to ultimately suffer in his life and being in love will not change his life sentence. Hesse specifically uses the

He is particularly remembered for his applications of mathematics to mechanics, especially fluid mechanics, and for his pioneering work in probability andstatistics. Bernoulli s work is still studied at length by many schools of science throughout the world. In Physics : He is the earliest writer who attempted to formulate a kinetic theory of gases, and he applied the idea to explain Boyle s law.[2] He worked with Euler on elasticity and the development of the Euler Bernoulli beam equation.[9] Bernoulli s principle is of critical use inaerodynamics.[4] Daniel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By multiplying with the fluid density ПЃ,equation (A) can be rewritten as: or: where: is dynamic pressure, is the piezometric head or hydraulic head (the sum of the elevation z and the pressure head)[8][9] and is the total pressure (the sum of the static pressure p and dynamic pressure q).[10] The constant in the Bernoulli equation can be normalised. A common approach is in terms of total head or energy head H: The above equations suggest there is a flow speed at which pressure is zero, and at even higher speeds the pressure is negative. Most often, gases and liquids are not capable of negative absolute pressure, or even zero pressure, so clearly Bernoulli s equation ceases to be valid before zero pressure is reached. In liquids when the pressure becomes too low cavitation occurs. The above equations use a linear relationship between flow speed squared and pressure. At higher flow speeds in gases, or for sound waves in liquid, the changes in mass density become significant so that the assumption of constant density is invalid Simplified form In many applications of Bernoulli s equation, the change in the ПЃ g z term along the streamline is so small compared with the other terms it can be ignored. For example, in the case of aircraft in flight, the change in height z along a streamline is so small the ПЃ g z term can be omitted. This allows the above equation to be presented in the following simplified form: where p0
