In like manner, this minority was underrepresented. The Anglos representing for Mexican
Americans were just representatives in name. The inequalities and unjust treatment were evident
for these citizens in Texas. The unfairness resulted in emerging of some Mexican American leaders
who sought for reforms. These few among the many have seen the poverty, and inequality
conditions of their own people. They understood that some measures must be done to improve the
lives of Mexican Americans. The early Mexican American leaders began to form organizations.
Also, the civil rights movements were instrumental for calling equal access to economic, social,
and political aspects for Mexican Americans. As a start, they used their number as a leverage for...

3. What Are The Similarities Between Cahokia And Native...
The Cahokia are a tribe I have never heard of before, but I have heard of other Native American
tribes such as the Cheyenne or the Cherokee. What surprised me that the Cahokia and other Native
American tribes used up so many of the trees when they were building homes and setting up camps.
I thought that Native Americans were usually very connected with nature and used skins of the
animals they hunted and minimal wood for camps. I think that the Europeans had misconceptions
that Native Americans were peaceful land dwellers. The Native Americans were actually in fact
very hostile towards other Natives especially rival tribes. I think the Europeans were very shocked
when they found out that the Native Americans would actually perform human sacrifice. The
Native American tribes were part of a civilized culture because they figured out how to build their
own small cities and provide for themselves. I also read that the Native Americans also felt very
civilized with the things that they owned.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. Theseus And The Labyrinth In Greek Theatre
The myth of Theseus and the Labyrinth can be transformed into an Athenian tragedy because there
is not an abundance of characters, there is a unity of action, and a unity of time. To adapt this myth
of Theseus into an Athenian tragedy, a few changes would have to be made. One drastic change
that I would implement is something completely new to the Athenian theatre; I would use the
audience as part of the play. Constructing and displaying a labyrinthon the stage would be
incredibly difficult to pull off therefore I would have the audience seated in a labyrinth type
structure in addition to having a small section that leads to the back of the stage as this is where the
minotaurwould be. In addition to using the audience as a labyrinth, the composition of the chorus
would contribute to the importance of Theseustask of killing the minotaur.... Show more content on

The chorus would be composed of the seven men and women sent into the labyrinth every year to
feed the minotaur. Choosing the sacrificed people to serve as the chorus further intensifies the
importance for Theseus to kill the minotaur because if he fails, the cycle will continue and
countless people will have to be sacrificed to feed the beast. In Agamemnon by Aeschylus, the
chorus consists of old men whom are citizens of Argos (Aeschylus Agamemnon 1. 40 43). The
chorus in Agamemnon serves as a wise voice to the audience whereas the chorus of this play
would be slightly sinister and foreboding, however, it would still serve the purpose of explaining to
the audience the importance of the task at

Regular mattress cleaning in Audenshaw can prolong the life of your mattress. Many of us don
t give our mattresses a second thought. We regularly change the bed linen and when the
mattress is covered with a clean sheet, we assume it is clean. On the outside, it looks freshly
cleaned, but it is not enough to keep it safe for us to sleep on. Even if you cover your mattress
with a dust mite cover, it won t stop the dust particles, dead skin cells and dust mites from settling
on the surface. If your pet is allowed to sleep on your bed, their dander also becomes part of the
bedding.

6. Egyptian Art Vs Byzantine Art
Throughout history, man has used several mediums to record the world they live in, whether it is
through writing or art. These mediums have also served not only as a way to represent the events
in history but also provide as a way to convey certain messages with hopes to teach, influence or
convince the viewers. Three periods in history, the Egyptian, the Roman, and the Byzantine, are
examples of cultures that used art as a mean to relate the earthly world with their religious beliefs.
With their art, the Egyptian aimed to paint the rulers as god kings, the Roman cultures represented
their gods and goddesses with humanlike actions, and lastly, the Byzantine period presented a
heavenly realm on earth.

For instance, in the Hagia Sophia Church created by Justinian during his reign, multiple windows
surround the base of the central dome, making the illusion that it is as if it was floating. The
windows appear as a golden chain from Heaven . With this innovative yet smoothly executed
iconography in the architecture of the church, worshipers were presented with a spiritual setting in
which they could bask in. Byzantine art established the churches as the second heaven.
However, the Byzantine not only created the image of heaven in their architectural structures, but
also in their mosaic paintings. The painting of Justinian, Bishop Maximianus, and attendants, is a
good example of how the Byzantine period set the scene against a golden background, a style
that has started in Late Antiquity to show that an event occurs in a heavenly place or a paradise
not bound by time or location. This gives the effect that the emperor is regarded as having the
ability to dwell not only on earth as a ruler but also participate in spiritual rites as favored by

8. Essay On Judgement In To Kill A Mockingbird
Beneath the Skin
There will always be that one person that gets hate and one that everybody loves. Living up to
other s expectation is an intricate way to fit in with society. Judgement isn t the only problem in
this generation; judging somebody by their actions and appearances cause people to be outcasted
which makes an impact on society. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the narrator, Scout Finch,
sums up what has happened in her preteen years, along with her brother, Jem Finch. As they are
growing up, they face conflicts throughout their hometown, Maycomb. Maycomb is a small little
town in Alabama full of judgemental racist hypocrites. One day, their dad, Atticus Finch, is set off
to handle a case about an African American, Tom Robinson, being framed for raping a young
white girl, Mayella Ewell, daughter in of the lowest families. As a lawyer, Atticus was up with
Tom. After losing the case against Mayella s dad, Bob Ewells, Scout, and Jem have lost their
social issues. In a city like Maycomb, residents and citizens are making critiques while being
prejudice when it comes to segregation and racism. Furthermore, the novel explains that people like
to judge and reject the unfamiliar.
Judgement is one of society s biggest conflict. In chapter 9, Atticus tries to explain to the
housekeeper, Calpurnia, about why he wants the kids to grow up in the right direction saying, Why

12. Social Changes During The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution caused many changes. The three main changes that are quite noticeable
are technological, social, and economic changes. Great examples of theses changes can be found
within a variety of sources, but mainly coming from my history textbook. Massive technological
changes in machines, energy use, and transportation (technological). It resulted in rapid
urbanization, and it created different social classes (social). This led to the development of Laissez
Faire capitalism, socialism, utilitarianism, socialism, and communism (economic). To start,
technological changes were one of the main changes during the Industrial Revolution. It all started
with the substitution of mechanical devices for human skills, then everything changed. Machinery
was applied first in coal mining and textiles. The new machines, methods, and techniques quickly
spread into other industrial areas. For example, the use of steam engines in transportation led to the
railroad system, vastly increasing the speed, reliability, and amount of goods moved over long
distances, converting the nation into one unified market. This led to a plethora of other technical
changes, with iron, steel, bridge building, organization, and communication.... Show more content

This case study has presented multiple issues concerning converting paper medical record to
electronic medical records. The first concerns are the inefficiencies of the paper medical records
and the steps needed to convert the current records to digital records. A second concern was that
the medical staff would have to change their work habits to adjust to using the electronic
medical records and the training that would be needed to implement the electronic record
software. Another concern would be the various formats of software programs and the ability to
complement each other. The final concern was the security of the electronic records, misuse of
the information or problems accessing the information due to unforeseen circumstances. As the
case stated paper records are cumbersome, bulky and difficult to access. As you read through the
case it does make one think about how your own medical records are maintained within the

how therapists work with clients. I will summarise both the existential psychology approach and
the mindfulness approach and how they work with helping understand fear and sadness. I will

Mindfulness has been an integral part of Buddhism for 2500 years. Mindfulness has the intention to
accept and be non judgmental, but rather to focus your attention on the emotions, thoughts and
sensations happening at the present moment. For example have you ever been driving somewhere
and got to your destination only to realise you can t remember anything about your journey? The
practice of mindfulness is experiencing what we are going through right now without attaching a
load of past baggage to it, or trying to figure out ways to make it different , (Barker, p.177). When
practised, mindfulness helps you stay in the present moment, not to drift of in your mind about past
experiences, as this can build up your anxieties and fears and make things seem worse than they are.
Mindfulness meditation can become a mental position for being able to separate a given experience
from an associated emotion, and can help facilitate a skilful or mindful response to a specific
situation. Meditation starts with introducing body focussed mindfulness of the breath. This
involves noticing the body sensations associated with breath and breathing which in turn, when
practised, allows thoughts, feelings, emotions to emerge, and it can feel such a relief not to have to

Layne Greeson
Introduction
North America is known around the world for its excellent professional sports. Athletes from
around the world come to the North America with the dream of becoming a professional athlete
in their respective sport. Organized professional baseball in North America was developed in
1876 with the creation of the American League (AL). In 1901 the National League (NL) was
formed in order to compete with the AL hence Major League Baseball (MLB) was born. From 1901
till now Major League Baseball has grown into a multi billion dollar industry consisting of 30
MLB teams residing primarily in the United States with one team in Canada. The AL consists of
15 teams split into three separate divisions. The NL also consists of 15 teams split into three
separate divisions. MLB teams compete in a 162 game season in order to determine which 10
teams, five from each league, will compete in an end of the season tournament and have a chance
to win a World Series which is the most prestigious award an MLB team can accomplish. With this
goal in mind MLB teams attempt to hire world class athletes in order to produce a winning team
which in turn generates revenue.
Baseball is statistical driven sport more than any other because the game is structured in a way that
allows for easy comparison of players performance through the use of statistical aspects. Baseball

Social Stigmas of Asian Parenting are True
Just walking through the courtyard of Brigham Young University, you are surrounded by
outstanding, intelligent students who were leaders in their communities and are firm in their faith.
Students hail from all four corners of the world from the diverse United States to blissful Asia; yet,
only 1.4% of BYU students are of Asian ethnicity. The Asian population may be small at the
university; but, Asian stereotypes continue to permeate all forms of media coloring our perception
of our classmates from the East. Have you ever wondered why are they so smart at math? How do
all of them know how to play the piano? Why does receiving anything less than an A grade brew
feelings of failure? Many Asians attribute these stereotypes to their upbringing and parents
expectations. In The Wall Street Journal article Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior , Amy Chua
presented her viewpoint that the Asian parenting style to raise successful children outranks the
Western ideals for parenting. But, are Asians really more superior than Westerners at parenting?
Through personal vignettes and poignant diction, Chua builds logos, pathos, and ethos to write a

parent?

smartphone users were observed over a one week period. The study shows that 97 percent of usage

through video or voice calls. Less than 50 percent make up music, podcasts, and navigation. This
survey concludes that smartphone users spend most of their usage time through communicating

through smartphones is convenient, helpful, creative, fun, and accessible when it comes to
communicating with friends and family and also long distance relationships. Smartphone
communication features can benefit, rather than harm, how society communicates with one another.
Smartphones are built with user size preferences in mind, so many smartphones have a sleek and

They also fit into the palm of a hand, making it simple to use the touch of a thumb to navigate

24. The Process and Factors of Wound Healing
Introduction
The skin, the biggest organ in the human body, has several vital functions, including sensation,
thermoregulation, protection and synthesis of vitamin D. Nurses would like to be knowledgeable
concerning what is thought of to be healthy skin (Pringle and Penzer2002). This is very important,
as the condition of the skin might typically be a sign of underlying disease (Casey 2002). Changes
within the skin may be one among the first indicators of an underlying health downside. Injury of
either the epidermis or the dermis can cause systemic infection, increased morbidity, increased value
of care, and negative psychosocial consequences (Schindler, Kuhn, Christopher, Conway, Ridling
Simpson; 201one).
Wound healing is a dynamic, interactive method involving soluble mediators, blood cells,
extracellular matrix, and parenchymal cells. Wound healing has three phases: the inflammatory
section, the proliferative part, and the maturational or transforming phase. These phases could
overlap in time (Porth, 2011).
Inflammatory Phase
The inflammatory part starts at the time of injury with the formation of a blood clot and therefore
the migration of phagocytic white blood cells into the wound web site. The primary cells to arrive,
the neutrophils, ingest and take away bacteria and cellular debris. When twenty four hours, the
neutrophils are joined by macrophages, that still ingest cellular debris and play a necessary role in
the production of growth factors for the

25. How Did Aristophanes Make Lysistrata A Crude Comedy
Aristophanes
Aristophanes was a comic writer who lived between 450 and 385 BC and composed about forty
plays in his lifetime. His plays were all comedies, which usually addressed very serious political
and social issues in a direct and crude manner, which, like much of today s comedy, is what made
them funny for the audience to watch and appreciate. Many of the comedies would even go as far as
mocking members of the audience or making personal attacks upon contemporary political
personalities. Aristophanes Lysistrata is no exception to this crudecomedy, ridiculing what he thinks
is the absurdity of the Peloponnesian War. The comedy is a brilliantly constructed piece with an
extremely profound underlying message encouraging a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city state built blockades to resist occupation by the Athenian army and sparked revolt
elsewhere in the area, in Chalcidice and Bottiaea. Since negotiations failed, the Athenians sent
troops into the region by ship. However the Athenians also had their hands full with the
Macedonians in the same region and had difficulty suppressing the revolt. When Athens finally
made a treaty with Perdiccas, the Macedonian leader, she found herself betrayed as the
Macedonians joined alongside the Corinthians, who had come to the defense of the Potidaeans. In
spite of all of this, the Athenians were able to recapture control of most of the region with the
arrival of reinforcements. Seeing that their own citizens were now trapped, Corinth called a
meeting of the Peloponnesian assembly at Sparta. During this meeting the complaints against the
Athenian Empire reached their peak. After another meeting a month later the Peloponnesian
assembly decided that war was in order. However, it was winter and war did not begin immediately.
In fact the Spartans sent three different ambassadors to Athens over the course of the winter in an
attempt to secure peace. The Spartans demanded that the Athenians withdraw from Potidaea and
that all the city states in northern Greece be given their freedom. Pericles response to this demand

that means celebrating with barbeques, fireworks and good music. Here are the top ten songs
about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that
on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The
Muffs, off of the 1995 soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of
her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) Lyrics
include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling everywhere / I don t want
to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new wave coming I warn you / we re the kids
in America / everybody live for the music go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply
seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also
mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would
become very prevalent in the music scene. Number Nine: American Woman by The Guess Who.

throw dollar bills and hope to be saved / the poshest scarf on the warmest day / it s enough to

Errors with Barcode Medication Administration

Abstract
Medication errors are among the most significant cause of patient injury in all types of medical
errors (Johnson, Carlson, Tucker, amp; Willette, n.d). In the nursing profession, medication
administration errors occur 34% of the time, second only to physician ordering errors (Gooder,
2011). The introduction of information technology, such as the Bar Code Medication
Administration (BCMA), offers new opportunities for reducing medication administration errors.
BCMA was developed by the Veteran s Affairs Medical Center in 1998 to help improve the
documentation of medication administration, decrease medication errors and provide ... Show more

The nurse must verify the physician s medication order, including the dose and time, and then the
pharmacy is responsible for their own checks and balances via the BCMA system in order to
complete the dispensing phase of the medication (Gooder, 2011). The nurse enters the BCMA
system with a login and password and is able then to see a list of the virtual due list for a specific
patient. The computer on wheels is then taken to that patient s room and the five rights of
medication administration begin. As nurses, we are taught to use the five rights of drug
administration are (1) right patient (2) right medication (3) right dose (4) right route and (5) right
time. By scanning the barcode on the patient s hospital identification band, the nurse then asks for
the patient to verbally state their name and date of birth, which can be verified by the nurse on the
virtual due list and then choses the medication that are due for administration at that time. The
medication is dispensed and the nurse is able to scan the barcode on the medication, the scanning
triggers the automatic documentation of the medication given (Kelly, 2012).
According to pharmacist T. Perryman, the errors he sees the most in the pharmacy setting occurs
when hospital made barcodes are being added to the medication rather than the medication having
factory barcodes already present. The process of standardizing all pharmaceutical drug

The Canadian Food Guide has changed over time due to fit the needs of Canadians as more
scientific research and information has been found about nutrition and how to achieve overall
health. For example in 1982, the Canadian Food Guide implemented a statement which encouraged
Canadians to limit fat, sugar, salt and alcohol as a method to combat diet related diseases (Canada,
n.d). The food guide has also been altered over history to incorporate individuals with different
diets based on culture, religion, and preferences. This was demonstrated in 1977, where they

Concerning the physical addition of showing Canadians to reduce the intake of sugary drinks,
this is verified by Quebec Health Groups, in which they state soda cans will come with a
warning that drinking them may lead to obesity, diabetes and cavities (Quebec, n.d.). The Senate
has even put forth the motion to tax sugary foods and drinks (Zimonjic, 2016). This makes it an
even more crucial to include it on the actual food guide. This reinforces the idea for the food
guide to have a stricter stance on high calorie and high sugar foods like soda. Many dieticians have
also agreed that drinking fruit juice does not have many benefits compared to eating fruits or just
water, because of low fibre, high sugar and high calorie counts (Needs, 2016). Therefore, I think the
food guide should remove juice from their suggestion list. A research finding that supports my
recommendation for the reduction in consumption of red meat is from the National Post, they
suggest in their article that For decades, governments and scientists in the U.S. and Canada have
warned of the harmful effects of saturated fat on the heart and cardiovascular system, urging
consumers to shun butter, eggs and red meat (Canada, n.d.). Another study from Harvard School of

30. Schizophrenia; An Open Book
From J.D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye comes forth the timeless protagonist,
Holden Caulfield. To some, the perplexing anomalies of his character remain a
captivating mystery, but to others, such as psychoanalysts, Holden Caulfield is an open
book. By carefully observing his social quirks and inward thoughts, psychoanalysts can
make a conclusion about his psyche. Specifically, through his lack of social contact,
occasional mood swings, and paranoia among other things, anyone looking through a
psychoanalytic lens could conclude that Holden Caulfield is schizophrenic.

using this lens, psychoanalysts observe the special behaviors of a ... Show more content on

Meanwhile, Holden believes that the world is completely bisected into the
innocent and the corrupted, this is apparent in his obsession with phonies . Furthermore,
he also believes that he can prevent grey areas from occurring; affectively preventing
children from becoming adults by catching them as they fall from a perilous cliff
(Salinger 173). Holden has molded his life around this fantasy and fails to realize that
nothing can prevent children from one day becoming adults. These thoughts that seem
realistic and attainable to him are merely the products of his schizophrenic psyche.
Holden s obsession with the theme of innocence versus corruption connects to
schizophrenia in more ways than one. Ronald D. Laing s theory proposes that
schizophrenia is not an illness per say, rather it is a logical reaction of an individual to a
corrupted society. Holden s lament of his obviously corrupted world is further indication
to his schizophrenia, even if it is a rational reaction and not a disease.

Hollywood today spends more money on movies than ever before, with an average budget of
$140 million per movie. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; the most expensive movie
ever made; cost approximately $378.5 million and that was five years ago. This isn t surprising
since history is witness to a rising trend in money spent on movies, even after adjusting for
inflation, however, their impact on the industry isn t as large as their budgets. Over the years,
lower cost productions like B Movies have played a major role in carrying the industry forward
by keeping it stable, moving and profitable in times of trouble. B Movies came to be the need of
the hour after The Great Depression and World War II. Money was tight everywhere and
Hollywood could not continue making extravagant movies therefore they turned to low budget
commercial films. These movies not only have an economical significance in Hollywood, they
have made more than one contribution to the industry. These low risk movies provided
directors, writers and producers with a wide scope for experimentation and led to the creation of
many a genres and sub genres. The origins of B Movies are humble but over the years that they
grew in Hollywood, they became more significant and successful, yet their progress from Rags to

This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most important poem
in Old English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character, Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who
fought the deadliest monster that no other man was willing to take on. He was considered the
strongest of all warriors so he was called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can
be seen when Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the
monster (Raffel 48). Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because Grendel
would not be using a sword either. This shows how prideful he is of his strength and his
capabilities of being able to kill the monster with his bare hands. After Beowulf kills the monster
Grendel, kennings describe him as the mighty protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride
in Beowulf ). Although there is pride shown in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In
the epic, it is stated that Grendel, his mother, and other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are
descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts (Raffel
44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who murdered his own brother Abel, shows
how Christianity affected the literary works of the pagan culture. The church s influence can also
be seen when it is stated he [Grendel] never dared to touch king Hrothgar s glorious throne,
protected by God (Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of pride is strongly seen in
Beowulf, the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God and the Bible located

A Comparison of November, 1806 (Wordsworth) to the Men of Kent (Wordsworth), Drummer
Hodge (Hardy), and The Charge of the Light Brigade (Lord Alfred Tennyson)
The themes in November, 1806; To the men of Kent; The Charge of the Light Brigade; and
Drummer Hodge are all war based. They all contain the themes of death, war and some sense of
victory in that in both of Wordsworth s poems, it is directly about the victory in a battle. In
Drummer Hodge, it is that his family shall never forget him. In The Charge of the Light Brigade, it
was about the bravery and gallantry of the British Cavalry.

They are brave because they are riding into a line of infantry and the infantry are covered very
well by artillery. It is very jingoistic as it calls the light brigade noble and it says that we should
honour the light brigade because of the wild charge they made .
In Drummer Hodge, the only reference to a mood of the character is unknowing as he never
expected to die so quickly or be buried in the middle of nowhere with no real grave.
In To The Men of Kent, there is distinct mood of being proud in the men of Kent. This poem is
also jingoistic about Britain, this gives the poem a possible purpose of recruitment as it makes
people feel a duty to their country, calling Kent the Vanguard of Liberty .
In November, 1806, the mood is that the narrator is nervous about the fact that Napoleon has been
able to defeat Prussia and he might now come and try to invade England. The moods are therefore
very different for each poem, each one having a different mood entirely.
There is quite a lot of imagery in the four poems. in The Charge of the Light Brigade, there is a
constant reference to biblical imagery. In lines three, seven, and sixteen there is the repeated
image of the valley of death from psalm twenty three ( Lo should I walk through the valley of

Children start thinking about what they want to be, a doctor, nurse or a police. What college we want

to work when we finish school, a hospital, private company, or even a bank. Later, we may start

Superstition Within Petronius The Satirycon
Written during the 1st century A.D., the Satyricon is often referred to as the first Roman novel.
The novel has only survived for us in fragments, and for this reason it is impossible for the modern
reader to reconstruct its plot completely. However, the Satyriconserves as an invaluable source of
information about the daily life and language of the Roman populace. Petronius deliberately
reproduces plebeian language and slang, offering a rare insight into everyday Roman life, which
polished and refined works leave absent. Petronius focuses on the large social gap between the
freed slaves and scholars of the time and how superstition can show that gap. The main scene that
superstition is shown is during Trimalchio s Feast.
The scene in the novel titled as Trimalchio s feast, describes an elaborate dinner party hosted by
Trimalchio, a businessman and immigrant who gained riches in Rome without any elegance or an
education fit for an aristocrat of the time. This section has been preserved more completely than
some of the more fragmented chapters of the novel, its themes and motifs are able to develop more
fully and be more closely understood as Petronius had originally intended. It could be interpreted
within different chapters and scenes of the feast as focusing on the large social gap between Rome
s freed slaves, and the well educated scholars whom they aimed to mimic. Although, this

I enjoy watching movies on it, because the screen is a decent size and it is also portable. So I could
download a few movies and be able to take it when my family goes places. I can watch movies on
my phone but, the kindle s bigger screen takes the experience to a whole new level. Another thing I
like is that it allows me to play some of my favorite games on a bigger screen which can make it
easier to work with. The Kindle is better for reading as well. There is a reason that the first Kindle
started as a reading device. It allows me to be able to read basically all of the books I want in a
device that is almost the size of a regular book. With the Samsung I can read books however the
smaller screen makes it difficult to get that reading experience that I absolutely love.
Though there are many differences between the Samsung and the Kindle they also have many
similarities. They are both able to access the internet so I can do research for an essay or just get
on Facebook to connect with friends I have not seen in a long time. They also both have the ability
for me to listen to music, something that is good because I need music like I need my

44. The Allowance For Loan Losses
Allowance for Loan Losses The Allowance for Loan Losses (ALL) represents an estimate of
losses that have been incurred on loans in the portfolio that are considered to be impaired as of the
balance sheet date, based in part of review of individual loans and in party on high level analytics of
groups of loans sharing common risk characteristics ( 0081_REP_Sacher_interior.indd
243_Sacher_Loan_Losses.pdf, n.d.). This report will cover the accounting standards of the ALL,
the common errors that credit unions make, the challenges that face credit unions today, and the
Christian worldview on the ethical side of the ALL accounts.
Accounting Standards Over the past few years the delinquency ratio has increased significantly
which has led many credit unions down the road of exceeding the national peer group averages.
The ASC states, The allowance for credit losses shall be established at a level that is adequate but
not excessive to cover probable credit losses related to specifically identified loans as well as
probable credit losses inherent in the remainder of the loan portfolio that have been incurred as of
the balance sheet date. Impairment shall not be recognized before it is probable that impairment
has occurred, even though it may be probable that impairment will occur in the future. The
measurement of credit losses in a portfolio of loans and receivables consists of two parts:
reviewing specifically identified loans and estimating credit losses in the remaining

45. The Themes Of Teamwork In Lord Of The Flies By William...
One time when I was playing soccer in my yard, I wondered how far I could kick the ball, so I
kicked it but if flew off and landed on the roof. I couldn t reach it, it was just too far. I had lost my
soccer ball on top of my roof, my only soccer ball. So my brother put my other brother on his
shoulders, then I got on his shoulders and they lifted me up and I got my soccer ball back. In the
story Lord of the flies by William golding, it is a storyabout a group of kids that crash landed on a
tropical island where they had to survive, but they couldn t work together. People ended up
forming different alliances to take control of the island, and some died in the process. But in the
end, they were rescued by a naval officer. One of the main characters Piggy, died within the book,
but that wouldn t have happened if they just worked together, that is why a theme for the book
lord of the flies would be, teamwork makes the dream work.
In the story Lord of the Flies by William Golding it says, Almost too heavy. Jack grinned back.
Not for the two of us. This shows how teamwork makes the dream work is the best theme for
Lord of the Flies because they are all working together and because of that they got what they
wanted. Therefore relates to the claim because in the quote they are cooperating with each other to
get things done. According to the text it states, We closed in The first blow had paralyzed its hind

47. The Effect of Ionic Strength on the Solubility of an...
Title of Experiment 12:
The Effect of Ionic Strength on the solubility of an Electrolyte
Aim:
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the thermodynamics variable of enthalpy, ∆H
for the dissolution reaction of boric acid in water. The solubility of boric acid was measured over a
range of various temperatures by finding out at what temperature crystallization began for solution
of different molarities. A graphical relationship between the natural logarithm of molal concentration
and the inverse of the temperature gave a linear plot to determine the enthalpy changes associated
with the reaction.
Methodology:
The procedure was carried out as follows in the CHEM2210 Laboratory Manual from page 58 to 59.

49. A Cold, Brittle Wind Blew The Front Door Open
The chill of a cold, brittle wind blew the front door open just as the two gentlemen and
gentlewoman approached the front walk. The men were all of a leisurely persuasion and the
young lady was a stray sort even after all this time. Time had cut through the hardness and
briskness of their demeanor. This was a grand occasion as they had been invited to dine with one
of their colleagues. The home was legend in their world and was owned by a one Nathaniel
Hawthorne, a prolific author. Hawthorne gave The Wayside the name by which it is still known.
The Wayside built in 1714 is a typical New England two story wood frame house, in Concord,
Massachusetts. Before Hawthorne bought it, the house belonged to the Alcott family, who names it
Hillside. Here, Louisa May Alcottand her sisters lived much of their childhood described in Little
Women. With that much literary history in the home, it was the perfect place to hold a dinner party.
Mr. E. A Poe, his proud and beautiful head erect, his dark eyes flashing with the elective light of
feeling and of thought, a peculiar, an inimitable blending of sweetness and hauteur in his
expression and manner, greeted his guests into the front parlor as they waited for the dinner to
commence. The gentlemen were attired in a black frockcoat with a shite shirts and black cravats,
tied somewhat loosely. There were a certain cool, stale smell about the room but this did not seem
to discern the guests. As they glided into the front room a single card

Paulo Freire, author of the chapter excerpt The Banking Concept of Education written in 1968,
believed that the education system in place was flawed and this corresponded with the capitalistic
system of society. Paulo Freire s preferred method of education is the problem posing method. This
method students and teachers are liberated from the oppression of the power structure. Paulo Freire
s method of problem posing and the inferior method of the banking concept set the plot for Peter

51. Annalee Newitz sWhen Will White People Stop Making Movies...
In the 21st century, movies have become a platform for ideas and themes to be conveyed through a
screen. Themes of change, environmental crisis, love, and death are all only a few of the most
common themes that circulate through the Hollywood film industry. According to Annalee Newitz
in her essay When Will White People Stop Making Movies Like Avatar
? , a recurring theme she s
noticed is the theme of white guilt. In her essay, Newitz depicts the movie Avatar as nothing more
than a colorful rehash of this (apparently) common white guilt scenario. This is where the main
white protagonist leaves the oppressive (white) side to join the oppressed native side upon seeing
the error of his ways. Some Americans, including Newitz, believe that movies like Avatar possess
an underlying motive, which includes keeping the white guilt fantasy alive and trying to promote
the idea of leading people of color from the inside rather than from the outside (Newitz). The true
question is whether or not there really is that underlying motive, or if it is just a fabrication based
upon personal bias. The first point I noticed Newitz bring up was that, in white guilt fantasies, the
main white character always seems to become the leader of the indigenous group they join. While
Jake Sully the main character of the filmdid eventually become the leader of the Na vi (the native
blue aliens that inhabited the moon Pandora before the humans came to infiltrate it), this has
absolutely nothing to do

52. Psychological Analysis On Ava s Communication Skills
At the end of 8 years of age heading into 9 years of age, I received a psychological analysis on Ava.
Based on these results, I think I did well in the areas that involved Ava s communication skills,
language skills, as well as her memory skills. I believe this to be true because Ava s scores have
proven to be average or above average in these particular areas. Ava s psychological analysis was
performed by a highly trained psychologist. Ava took the verbal portion of the Wechsler
Intelligence Scale for Children. To explain these tests a little further, a score of 7 is one standard
deviationabove the mean, 10 is the mean, and 13 is one standard deviation above the mean. In
information and comprehension Ava scored a 9. Both of these scores are almost the mean score.
Ava also scored an 8 in vocabulary and similarities. Then her scores in math concepts, math
application problems, and math computation tests were in the average range. Lastly, Ava s scores
on tests of visual spatial ability (spatial rotation, copying of designs, etc.) were above average.
When Ava was younger I took advantage of her natural born talent to read and write by giving
her books to read. I would make each book increasingly more challenging for her vocabulary. I
would also encourage her to improve her writing by practicing every day. The results in her report
reflect this choice benefitted Ava because she is above average in ...word reading, reading fluency,
phonological awareness, and spelling

53. Francisco Goya The Third Of May Essay
For my writing assignment, I chose to discuss The Third of May, by Francisco Goya. On May 2,
1808, hundreds of Goya s countrymen rebelled against the French. On May 3, these Spanish
freedom fighters were rounded up and put to death by the French. Francisco Goya was in a
tough position because he had supported the French Revolution, but the slaughter of his
countrymen and the horrors of war made him change his tune and had a profound effect on the
artist. This painting is acclaimed as one the great paintings of all time and has even been called
the world s first modern painting. The work of art itself is in the early hours of the morning
taking after the uprising and spotlights on two gatherings of men: a firing squad, and a scattered
gathering or hostages held at gunpoint. There is a row of French soldiers aiming for a Spanish
man, who puts his arms up in accommodation both to the officers and to his sure demise. There is
a slope/hill behind him that represents an executioner s wall. There is a heap of grisly dead bodies
that lie at his feet, painting the territory with their gushing blood. On his other side, you can see a
line of his fellow countryman that can be seen extending out of the scene. You can see that they
cover their eyes to abstain from watching the butcher of their kindred Spaniard, and they realize that

Goya s painting presents us with an anti hero, pervaded with genuine emotion that had not seen
since, the ancient Roman sculpture of The Dying Gaul. Goya s main figure is not dying heroically
in battle but rather slaughtered on the side of a road like an animal. Both the scene and the dress of
the men are non descriptive, making the artistic creation an immortal bit of workmanship. This is
unquestionably why this piece of work remains emotionally charged

55. To What Extent Is Tartuffe A Comedy Of Manners
Moliere wrote Tartuffe in 1664, almost immediately followed by it s first performance the same
year, which was quickly censored by King Louis XIV who ruled France during this time. This
was believed to be because of the play s suspected attacks on the catholic church. A Comedy of
Manners is a play which is concerned with satirizing society s behavior and manners. A manner is
the way in which individuals perform everyday duties. It suggests a polite and agreeable behavior.
Comedyof Manners is known as high comedy since it includes a sophisticated wit and talent in the
composition and writing of the script. In this sense it is both academic and but opposite of
slapstick, which requires little ability with the script and is to a great extent

The Underdogs
Second Examination (Part I)
Mariano Azuela s The Underdogs tells the story of a dauntless Indian farmer who almost
unintentionally rises to a generalship in Pancho Villa s rebel army during the Mexican Revolution
of 1910. Though the events that occur throughout the book are not actual events that took place
during the revolution, Azuela is able to paint a very realistic picture of the revolution and leaves a
bitter taste in the mouth of the reader as one witnesses the failure of the rebels. This novel is a great
teaching tool that reveals truths of the revolution that would not have been given justice through
the traditional historical scholarship. Through fictional characters, Azuela s The Underdogs... Show

Other character is the novel represent those who were faithful follower of these great leaders.
These characters include: Manteca, Quail, Pancracio, Meco, Serapio, Antonio, and Venacio.
These are all characters who fought and died along side Demetrio and showed faith in their
commander in chief. Azuela shows the readers how some followers lost sight of what they were
fighting for as the revolution drug on. Furthermore, he also shows how some of the rebels could
be ruthless and would subject innocent citizens to mistreatment, as the reader clearly sees
through Blondie when he shoots bear bottles off the head of a waiter. The reader is also forced
to question the goals of some of the followers as they seem to still where ever they go. Luis
Cervantes was a character who portrayed those people who were well educated about the
revolution and knew exactly what they were fighting for. Because he was so knowledgeable, he
could be looked at as Demetrio s right hand, as many leaders had trustworthy people they turned
to in the wake of the revolution. However, he abandons Demetrio and his men towards the end of
the book. This makes the reader wonder if he was tired and gave up on the cause, as many
followers of the revolution did, or if he foresaw the defeat of Demetrio and got out while he could.
