Math Experience In My Life
At an early age, I was bad at math, yet I knew it would be my passion. Throughout elementary
school, I gave into the idea that I lacked intelligence enough to pursue mathematics seriously in
school, and later on in my life. Nonetheless, math found itself back into my life during my middle
school years and solidified its presence within my life.
I was the dumb kid in class, unable to add and subtract, unable to memorize the multiplication
table. Before, I found joy in knowing. To this date I remember what seemed like witchcraft as my
father, on one of his rare visits home from work, showing me how squares worked when I was
five. The Japanese education system in my first and second grade placed value in the ability to
memorize rules and tables. The better one was at memorization, which felt to me the mindless
recounting of multiplication and division and the ability to just know the answer, was needed for
success. I wanted to know why the number four was four. What it really meant. What does it mean
that there are two less from six? Why were Eight things divided by two equal the same as the
square of two? I was interested in the hows and the whys of numbers, not just its identity. For this
reason, I was not deemed successful and was not seen as a student with prospects. Despite my
seeming lack of talent in the mathematical field, I knew, I knew somehow that math was my
passion. I was successful in the math classes in the elementary school in America. All that was

Macbeth Moral Psychology Essay
The principles of one individual is different from moral code of someone else. Moral psychology
plays a role because the reality in life is that there are norms, especially societal norms, showing
different perceptions of what is good and what is evil (Taylor 1).
For instance, bad influences can alter the ego of a well rounded human being. As a result, his or her
standpoints can change the way he or she thinks. This alteration in personality is caused by the
environmental factors rather than biological factors. In other words, someone can plague the
psychological thoughts of another person. This is an implication that good and evil actions from
someone is not the result of heredity or decisions made by oneself (Taylor 1).
Greed is a major setback in Macbeth. In the beginning of this tragic play, Macbeth is initially the
most trusted nobleman of King Duncan. His role is to protect the king rather than killing him.
He originally does not want to murder King Duncan because he promoted Macbeth, who dislikes
the new position he was in after killing a traitor. The situational irony of it all is that Macbeth
becomes the new traitor. The driving force of his greed in power is his wife, Lady Macbeth. After
the success of the plan, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lady Macbeth starts to express emotional regret. Prior to this reaction, she organizes a plan to
make Macbeth king by murdering King Duncan. After the execution of King Duncan, the
ambition of Lady Macbeth slowly faded away. ( Guilt of 1) Her guilt is best represented by this
quote: Had he not resembled. My father as he slept, I had done t (Shakespeare Act 2, Scene 2,
Lines 12 13). In this quote, she compares King Duncan with her father, in which she shows a
feeling of remorse. Since she cannot get them out of her mind like she expects, she is now in a
hazardous mental state of mind and commits suicide. ( Guilt of

America Needs To Preserve Natural Resources
Natural Resource Conservation In 1964, at the signing of the final Wilderness Act, President
Lyndon B. Johnson said, If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than
contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology (Famous Quotes).
The Wilderness Act started with Theodore Roosevelt in 1901, who conserved 230 million acres of
public land. The Act created the National WildernessPreservation System (NWPS), which protects
wilderness areas designated for preservation in their natural condition. Even though well planned
programs of preservation could cease the usage of nonrenewable natural resources, the conservation
of the wilderness and natural resources through laws and National/State Parks is the best approach
to saving the land. Since 1964, the NWPS believe that preservation, not conservation, is the best
approach to saving natural resources. According to David Newton, a specialist in life sciences, if
the government prevent the cutting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pipelines, similar to the Keystone Pipeline, stretch for miles under the earth s surface. Oil is
toxic to living things and if leaked, can destroy crops and like the oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico
in 2010, contaminate fresh water springs, causing life forms to either get sick or die. If the
government had a better handle over the entirety of its land, the country would become a
considerably better place to live. The debate over preservation and conservation of the natural
resources has been going on for almost a hundred years, with little conclusion. The government of
the United States, along with advocates from each state, need to reach a consensus to provide
methods of conservation to the country that prevents wasteful usage of nonrenewable and natural
resources and leaves wilderness for later generations to

Essay on What Is Really Behind Advertisement
Many people are in the debate whether companies use persuasion or manipulation in their
advertisements to get people to buy a certain product. In the Innocent ones advertisement the
Stop the Abuse organization shows a picture of a sad, abused little boy. The advertisement only
shows half of his face, but the color in his face has been lightened so it has a gray tint. To the
right, where the other half of his face should be, there is a stop sign. The stop sign is bright red,
and below the stop sign are big bolded words that read, I am Not a punching bag. The word not is
underlined to bring the significance of the advertisement to end child abuse. The advertisement is
placed a a pitch black background to the picture stand out more. The... Show more content on

And then there are some people who look at it and their heart will break and they will donate
immediately. The picture can only be counted as unfair if it invoked the same emotion in everyone
no matter who viewed it. Another reason the advertisement is not manipulative is because even
though the way the advertisement was structured was skillful, it was more on the creative side.
The creativity is shown by the content of the advertisement. With the use of a stop sign to replace
half of a child s face, big bolded words, color scheme, and half of a child s face the company used
creativity in designing the advertisement. The only skill that was used was the structure of the
advertisement. With the child s face to the left, the stop sign to the right, and the bolded words
underneath the stop sign it made the advertisement very easy to follow. However, that was the only
skill used in the advertisement which is why it was more creative than skillful. The advertisement
that the Stop The Abuse organization has recently came out with is persuasive and not
manipulative because even though the advertisement is sad and may touch the emotions of some
people, the fact of the matter is that it is only an advertisement and it is strictly the person s, who is
watching the advertisement, choice on whether to donate to the advertisement. The whole purpose
of why the organization used the advertisement is in an attempt

Analysis Of The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner Essay No one is born evil, the environment in which one is raised influences
what kind of person they will be. The Kite Runner, a historical fiction novel written by Khaled
Hoesseni, follows a young Afghani boy named Amir. Amir makes some regrettable decisions in
his youth and the guilt haunts him throughout his life as he searches for a way to redeem himself.
Amir also grew up with his friend/servant named Hassan. Hassan is a Hazara boy that lived in the
mud shack behind Amir s house. Amir is a very selfish and cowardly character, but he was not born
with these character traits, some factors can be attributed to Amir s selfishness or cowardice. Baba,
Amir s father, would always treat Hassan with the same amount of love and respect as he would
Amir, if not more. This angered Amir as he wanted Baba all to himself. In addition, Amir is
somewhat of a shy person that likes to keep his thoughts and emotions bottled up inside, which is
not positive for anyone. Finally, the juristic difference in social classes in Afghanistanthat separate
Amir and Hassan also contribute to Amir s cowardice. Amir s upbringing and the society he lived
in directly attribute to Amir s cowardice. Baba treated Hassan as if he were his own child and this
proves to be harmful to Amir. During the winters in Kabul kite running was a staple activity and a
family tradition for most. The tradition is no different with Amir, every year he would fly kites with
Hassan and Baba. Amir notes that,

Analysis Of Thomas David And Tiffany Michelle
She savored a sip of the sweet red wine every time she changed the picture on her computer
screen, the deep cherry color staining her lips. It was a beautiful ring, shining at every angle. In
the center was a large glistening diamond with four smaller diamonds surrounding it to represent
the four years they spent together before he asked the inevitable question. She looked up from
the computer screen and caught a glance of the invitation, Please join us in celebrating the

background. Below the writing was a picture of the happy couple standing on an old wooden
bridge, Tommy wrapping his calloused hands around his bride s petite waist. The photo
captured the whole scenery so perfectly; blossoming flowers created a frame around their upper
body, with large, unique rocks surrounding them on both sides. What was not visible was the
aged oak tree with TD + MH = FOREVER carved into the side or the small hideout beneath the
bridge where the Tommy and Margaret shared their first kiss. Suddenly the door screeched open
and Margaret quickly shut the lid of her laptop just as Mark walked in. He kissed her on the

Identity Is Something We Search Essay
Identity
Identity is something we search for, something we want to find out about ourselves. We want to
know what we are here for and what s our purpose. Identity is the way one sees themselves and
our identity is all we have that s why we protect it and always are trying to make ours better than
the others. I believe college is a time where we find our identity, maybe we have an idea on what it
is going to be and sometimes it takes us many years to figure it out. In Daniel Marks experience
his identity is going to take awhile for him to find if he doesn t change his ways. Daniels before
was very rough, he was in trouble a lot. He said he felt like a failure to his father s standards. He
enjoys partying very much, this has lead to him being a poor student with a GPA below a 2.0.
His study habits are very poor but he is planning on going to college. His advisor told him he
would fail out if he didn t change his ways. After hearing all about daniel s story I would
categorize him into the Diffusion area. This is because he is just simply doesn t care, he lacks
motivation and is only doing enough to barely get by. I can avoid all of these things by sticking
to the things I ve been doing and to adjust and use the strategies we have learned in U100. In
Monica s story you hear about a lot of the things she was going through in her first semester so it s
pretty relatable. She tells us about how her parents did not attend college, but she really wants to.

An inspector calls. Essay
An inspector calls. I am going to write about how J. B. Priestley builds up tension and suspense
within An Inspector calls . The play was written in 1945 due to the divide at that time between
Capitalists and Socialists. Given the fact that J. B. Priestley was a socialist (felt that everyone
should have equal amounts of money), he was criticizing the ways of capitalists (they felt that
you got what you earned). The play is set in 1912, a time just before a lot of dramatic incidents
happened, e. g. World War 1, The Titanic sinking. All of the play takes place in the Birling s
dining room, they are celebrating. Each of the characters in this play (except inspector Goole and

Sheila is stated to be a pretty girl in her early twenties . We would certainly not call someone in
their twenties a girl , the word is used because Sheila has not grown up mentally. Gerald is an
attractive chap , meaning that he s just a little big headed, but generally well mannered. Eric is
said to be not quite at ease . I do not think that Eric really fits in to the Birling family, he is quite
different. The tension between Arthur Birling and the audience begins when Birling speaks of
labour trouble and stating that we ve passed the worst of it when the first World War was just
about to start or had already started. What we must remember is that people who are watching
this play are still very angry and upset about the second World War. So, Mr Birling strikes them
as a total idiot and the audience dislike him. A certain amount of tension amounts between
various family members also. The occasions on which these things happen are: В· Sheila and
Gerald Gerald told Sheila that he had been working the previous summer when he hardly went

it was all in her head. She finds out that Gerald was being untrue when he was being interrogated.

BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
CASE STUDY MINI CASE: BP GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL
CASE SUMMARY
1.In a narrative format, summarize the key facts and issues of the case.
In the case of the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill, we examine the effects of an organization not being
prepared for this particular crisis. The world scrutinized the actions, inactions, and the human
decisions made by BP that led to a major catastrophic crisis. The organization was not prepared for
a crisis of this magnitude. Our text stated that this type of negligence has been coined the term
sloppy management. They were oblivious to the issues pertaining to the deep waters, the ocean
wildlife and the habitats of those marine animals. They were not knowledgeable of several things,
along with their initial conundrum of frantically searching for a way to stop the continued spilling
of the oil into the ocean. One article quoted an official saying, We knew how to respond to a
surface spill, but this is completely different. (Bond, D. 2013).
With the modern technology we have, and the easy access, also known as, information age , the
media and social media only seemed to intensify the effects of the crisis (Crandall, W, Parnell, J.
Spillan, J. 2013). This broadened the awareness of certain environmental issues and caused a panic
among the populations. The elite scientists were faced with new issues due to the oil spill that they
too had never intended. After these type of major crises, it creates a learning opportunity for

Rise Of Rome Research Paper
The Great Rise of Rome and Latin In the ancient Italian peninsula, numerous languages were spoken
in many different regions. The most influential, extending to modern times, is Latin. Latin was the
vernacular of the region of Latium; the same region that gave rise to the remarkable city of Rome.
Rome was perhaps the greatest empire to have taken shape in history, exerting an infinite amount of
influence in politics, medicine, civilization, military, and language. While Romespread her borders,
Latin would soon become the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world and beyond. The war
against the vast Carthaginian Empire that enabled the Romans to rule the known world and
establish their long lasting influence will be examined.

Ceterum autem censen Carthaginem esse delendum! or Carthage will be destroyed! said Cato the
Elder (Nardo pg. 32). By this time, Carthage had largely lost all her influence in the
Mediterranean, and was reduced to North Africa, until the final Punic war, when the Romans took

Finally, the Romans decisively gathered one last force, and breached Carthage s city walls. What

Daisy s Idea Of Social Breakdown In The Great Gatsby
He had discovered...made him physically sick. (Fitzgerald CH7). The feeling that George
Wilson had when he saw Daisy with another guy made him realize how much Daisy meant to
him and seemed to be a common feeling within the characters in the story. In this story, many
people fell in love with someone and had all the feelings in the world for them, but the other
person either didn t know or may not feel the same way. This also happens in the real world with
many people and many people end up upset over it because they like the person so much which
helps support Fitzgerald s idea of social breakdown and how the feeling happens in the story and in
the real world now and back then. The modernistic characteristic teaches us that Fitzgerald could...

And what s more, I love Daisy...and in my heart I love her all the time. This quote shows that
Tom felt no shame in what he did and takes advantage of Daisy s love for Tom. Tom relates to
people in the real world that don t feel shame after cheating on their spouse. Many people see it
as if it is alright to cheat on someone and don t think about the decision they ve made. As the
story went on and Daisy found out more and more about the cheating, she got tired of dealing
with it and ended up killing Myrtle which is very ironic because her husband was cheating on
her with Myrtle. This is an example of social breakdown because in society it s wrong to kill
somebody. Daisy killed her out of anger and jealousy which still would never make it right to
kill somebody. She should ve left Tom and let him go on with life with Myrtle. At the beginning
of the story, Nick realizes quickly how wrong Tom and Daisy s marriage is. When Tom has his
mistress call him during dinner Jordan is caught by surprise when Nick did not know about his
affair. From this example, it is easy to assume that Tom at this point in the story became infamous
among his colleagues because of his

It is a practice of stealing people s organ through surgery under the influence of drugs or from a

Russia. WHO has estimated that one fifth of the 70,000 kidneys that are transplanted every year
come from the black market through a widespread organtrafficking networks. In my opinion, organ

It is truly important to remember what had occurred in labor camps from 1933 to 1939. In Nazi
Germany, concentration camps were where people were sent to work. Jews and other groups of
people such as gypsies were sent to these camps. If someone was unable to work, they would be
killed. The camps in Nazi Germany were cruel, and inhumane because people who were unable to
work were killed, many caught deadly diseases, people were marked with wrong symbol, got

Childhood Development Through Active And Participatory...
Childhood can be explained as an early stage of life in which there is the existence of development
through active and participatory socialization. The stage of childhood only began to exist post
fifteenth and sixteenth century; children used to be considered miniature adults (James, p. 16).
Once children were removed from the adulthood designation, the attitudes of parents also began to
change; they began coddling their children. Prior to the fifteenth century, children were expected to
perform hard labour. As formal education grew in popularity within society, it added an extra
component to the socializationof children. In the book Constructing and Reconstructing Childhood,
(2004, p.13) Shildkrout concludes that in the traditional approach of socialization, child culture is
seen as a rehearsal for adult life and socialization consists of the process through which, by one
method or another, children are made to conform, in cases of successful socializations or become
deviants in cases of failed socialization . This brings forth the ideology that children develop and
are socialized on a universal spectrum that has only successful or deviant outcomes. Although there
are advantages of recognizing the importance of the traditional approach on childhood socialization,
it is vital to use the childhood perspective to gain a complete understanding of the socialization of
children. The childhood perspective on socialization is an approach that is strictly understood from

Compare And Contrast 16th And 17th Century Absolutism
Absolutism
Absolutism can be linked to many terms, but the most prominent and influential examples of
absolutism of the 16th and 17th centuries, were absolute monarchies. An absolute monarchy is
when a ruler has complete control and power over their land, with no system or agency, in
opposition, to keep them in check. During the 16th and 17th century, absolutism and absolute
rulers had a strong hold over Europe. Many kings governing their lands across the continent; all
claimed to be wielding the power of god. Also a habit formed where monarchs felt as though they,
and they alone ,knew what is best for their subjects. While at the same time when that power is

One of the best known absolute monarchs was Peter the Great. Peter earned his title through
years of patience and also through proving himself more than worthy in the eyes of the public.
His reign is one of the most important of Russian history, one of his greatest achievements was
removing the untrust worthy Streltsy who were in place as the military, and creating a new
standing army. That army would, by the end of Peters rule be accompanied by Russias first navy.
He created a navy out of nothing, leaving behind him a fleet of forty eight ships of the line and
many smaller vessels. (Document 8) .Another case was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He was
in complete control of the men in place around him, and through that kept his empire running as
smoothly as he could. Unlike the Russian rule (pre Peter the Great) the sultan was blind to the

The Evil Character Of Iago
Evil has been portrayed throughout time in many ways. In Christian theology, it has been shown
through the character of Satan and his various sins. In Stephen King novels, it is portrayed
through the imagery provided by monsters and humans with cruel intentions. All these characters,
though different in many ways, all hold a similar trait, that they are aware of the evil nature and
how they represent a different nature to seem a certain way to others. They may portray
themselves as kind, caring, and honest when they are in fact, quite the opposite; cruel, dishonest
and malevolent. They also all have the power to be destructive, even if they do not have a direct
reason to, only their own desire to do so. While good is self producing and improving, evil is self
destructive and can only create evil. Iago, as an evil character, holds many similarities to other
wicked figures, and is sometimes seen as a satan like figure. Shakespeare uses the character of Iago
to display the different forms evil can take on such as being hidden behind false intentions, turning
into an image of good, and its destructive nature resulting into its own end.
In the beginning of the play, Iago is seen by other characters as a wholesome character, often
called Honest Iago due to his seemingly kind nature, though it is merely a mask his wickedness is
hidden behind. Iago, when speaking to Rodrigo about his honorable position, he reveals his true
intentions behind what he does in his position by saying,

Prostate Cancer And Its Effects On African Americans
Prostate Cancer in Brooklyn
Chandra Tameshwar
Nursing 304
Professor Dr. McDuffie
Prostate cancer originates in the male prostate gland. Cancers in this gland are the most common
malignancies, which grow very slowly, and can have minimal effect on a man s quality of life.
However, a tumor in the prostate gland can be problematic for men, especially black men, even
though it is only about the size of a walnut. Located below the bladder and in front of the rectum,
the prostate provides the fluid that nourishes and protects sperm cells in the semen. Researchers are
still debating the cause of this disease, although certain risk factors such as age, ethnicity, culture,
environment, diet, and family history, increase the chance of getting it. Prostate cancer affects
African American men and early screening and detection are the key factors that can be used to
prevent mortality and reduce morbidity, especially in the Brooklyn area. Prostate cancer is the
second leading cause of cancer death in African American men and has the highest reported
mor¬tality rate, which is 2.4 times higher than in Caucasian men or any racial or ethnic group in
the United States, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC; 2014).
African American males, including those from Jamaica, a Caribbean Island, have the highest
prostate cancer incidence rates worldwide. The reason for this is not clear, but may reflect genetic
factors that vary in populations

Summary Of The Cosmological Argument
In critiquing the article written by William Lane Craig title The Cosmological Argument let me
first define how some define the cosmological argument. In reading about the cosmological
argument it is basically an argument that begins with the existence of the universe and tries to
prove God s existence. Thomas Aquinas said it this way, (1) everything in the universeis moved by
something else. Unless we can go back in time forever, with things being constantly moved by

Paper #1
Joan Didion Analysis
Within writing, authors have to find a way to hook and interest the reader in many ways. Many
authors use rhetorical appeals when writing. Rhetorical appeals are logos, pathos, ethos, and kairos.
These appeals help one to appeal to character, logic, emotion, time and more. When writing, the
author has to consider the writer, the reader, the medium, and the text for the work in which they
would like to create. When considering all of these concepts, the author is able to create a good
persuasive writing. The author Joan Didion uses many rhetorical appeals such as, pathos, logos
and ethos. Didion s main purpose for writing this passage is to persuade people ... Show more

Didion uses logos to tell her reader about the condition itself. The statement, Migraine gives
some people mild hallucinations, temporarily blinds others, shows up not only as a headache
but as a gastrointestinal disturbance, a painful sensitivity to all sensory stimuli, an abrupt
overpowering fatigue... (Didion). This statement gives many facts about the pain of migraines.
This statement can also be considered pathos because Didion uses many descriptive words to
allow the reader to feel the pain of a migraine. Another example of logos is when Didion begins
to talk about former presidents Thomas Jefferson and Ulysses S. Grant. While she is talking
about these two presidents she states the fact that they both suffered from migraines which is a
proven fact. Didion calls her migraines a physiological error which can be a fact about why
migraines occur. Didion also uses logos when she states, The chemistry of migraine, however,
seems to have some connection with the nerve hormone named serotonin, which is naturally
present in the brain (Didion). This quote from the passage is an example of logos because it
states the facts and reasons as to why migraines may occur and how it connects to the brain.
Within the fourth paragraph of Didion s passage are many other examples of logos. This
paragraph gives an in depth explanation if how the actions of a migraine may occur. Finally,
another example of logos is used when she considers

Rat Population Explosion, Attack Of Rats
Rats are sometimes very dangerous creatures to learn about. These articles will help us learn more
about the rats, than we know why they do these things. We know is that they are disgusting rodents,
but they are very interesting creatures if you think about it. The sources that the evidence came
from were Floods see RatPopulation Explosion, Attack of the Rats, and Rats! Rodent populations
proliferate in some parts of Texas.
In the first article Floods see Rat Population Explosion, this article explains why the rats
(rodents) go into people s houses and garages. The reason why the rodents go into people s
houses and garages are because of the cold weather, rainy downfall, and because of floods. The
rodents go up to the houses in order to get warm and dry areas in the house where they may have
their young at. The sewers were also flooded so the rats had nowhere to go so they go into people s
houses and garages.
According to the second article Attack of the Rats, the rats attacked India. Some people said that it

Research Methods
Prof. Fernando Linhares
Introduction This paper is being submitted for research methods at Kean University for the fall
2015 semester to discuss factors of homicide suicide. The variables I will be using in the discussion
will be, male perpetrators, male victims, female perpetrators, female victims, marriage victims and
marriage perpetrators. Murder suicide is defined as a homicide that is followed by the suicide of
the perpetrator within one week, sometimes a max of two weeks in some cases. The definitions
of the variables are as follow. A male perpetrator is a male that has committed the act of homicide
on another human being, than in return take his life within a week of the killing. A female
perpetrator is a female that has committed the acts of homicide on another human being, than in
return takes her life within one week of the killing. A male victims is a male who is the victims of
the homicide. A female victims is a female who is the victimof the crime. Marital status is the
status in which both the perpetrator and the victim are in which each other. It can be classified as
married, separate, divorced or single. Homicide Suicide rates are a growing number in the United
States and the countries around. They were once something that rarely occurred but then they
became the front news of every media and news outlet. Many different things can lead to the result

INTRODUCTION
Christ is the central person in Christian discipleship. Without Christ, Christianity would not exist
and there would be no followers of Christ. To be true followers of Christ, believers must be
willing to learn of the ways and teachings of Christ. Christ is central to Christian discipleship

God disciplines those whom He loves and uses those whom follow His commandments. Jesus
was hanged on a cross and crucified so that we would have the opportunity to be saved. He
suffered for us, so we should take up our cross on a daily basis and follow Him. Christians must
submit to Christ in order to be used by Christ. When a person submits to Christ, the Holy Spirit
will empower him to be used of God. If a person does not submit to Christ, then the Holy Spirit
will be quenched and the Christian will be disciplined by God. Disciples of Christ do not receive
salvation because they obey God, but they obey God and submit to Christ because they have
salvation (Rogers, Adrian, 2005). Jesus told the disciples that if they call him Lord they must
do what he commands (Matthew 7:22). To be a disciple of Christ, we must submit to Jesus and
trust that He is our Lord and Savior. We must have faith in Him and look to Him as our guide.
Disciples of Christ should obey Jesus because God is not a man, but a sovereign God who has
every right to command His disciples. Christ is not just a sovereign God, but also a saving God
who suffered on a cross so that humans could receive salvation. Disciples of Christ who are
saved by grace are not their own, but bought with a price that Jesus paid on the cross. Dietrich
Bonhoeffer: The disciples are called blessed because they have obeyed the call of Jesus.2 To be a

The criminal justice system is always changing to help secure and protect society. Even though
many times areas of law enforcement are over looked due to changes, the facts still remain that
the number one priority of law enforcement is to see that the streets that we walk during the day

of law enforcement. So in this paper I will focus on evaluate a few areas that have to deal with the

But with every positive there is a negative the same technology the law enforcement use to catch the
criminals, the criminals are using that same technology to avoid being caught, which also goes
back to the point that if law enforcement didn t abandon the relationship that they once had with the
community that the community would be willing to talk and help them out because with every crime
committed there is always somebody watching.
Moving forward when looking at the future trends of law enforcement it can be said that it ll
probably be better than present day law enforcement because they would be able to see what they
did wrong and try to improve on it. The reason why is because with progression there is always
improvements made on things that were done wrong. For instance law enforcement losing touch

A Comparative Analysis of the Concepts of Science and...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark and Rappaccini s Daughter both address the concepts of
science and nature and the conflicts that the two typically generate. The protagonists in both
stories feel that it is essential for them to do something in order to improve the persons they love.
Moreover, they appear to consider that they actually want to help the persons they love instead
of actually helping themselves by doing so. The women in the two stories focus on being as
good as they can possibly be in order for their lovers to appreciate them, but these men want
science to interfere and remove any type of problems that they discover in the women that they
love. Aylmer, the protagonist in The Birthmark was a successful scientist and philosopher
previous to marrying Georgiana, as he preferred to abandon his background in order to provide
his wife with everything she needed in order to feel loved. Science actually seemed to be worth
nothing when compared to Georgiana, and even though Aylmer paid great respect to his
background, he would rather focus on his wife. His love for his young wife might prove the
stronger of the two; but it could only be by intertwining itself with his love of science, and uniting
the strength of the latter to his own (Hawthrone). While it seems that Aylmer is happy with his
condition consequent to marrying Georgiana, it is gradually revealed that he is unable to abandon
his love for science. He encounters a significant problem as he comes

North Dakota Pipeline Analysis
In North Dakota, oil is a great source of revenue. Since the oil boom, transporting that oil has
been done through pipelines as well as rail cars. Recently, the Dakota Access pipeline has
attracted attention from celebrities and other civilians that are not even residents of the
Dakotas, such as Shailene Woodley, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jane Fonda, and Mark Ruffalo.
Pipelines can be both efficient and dangerous. The efficiency can be read in the ability to
transport the oil to other states, while the danger can be read in the environmental damage of an
oil spill in a river that people depend on for water in the case the Dakota Access pipeline could
damage the Missouri River. No matter all the perks of a pipeline such as Dakota Access, it can be...

Those for the pipeline say that it will help the economy, and that it will be much safer than

it will not be swell for the environment. The gases that will be released from burning those gases
from cars and other sources will help advance climate change, and is ultimately bad for the

Fate vs Free Will in Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare
The hubris of rich, powerful, or politically connected men creates a false sense of security that
often leads to their fate being a horrific downfall. Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare exposes
the conflicting ideas that exist between fate and free will by showing the relationship between
Caesar, Brutus, and their wives, and how the decisions Cassius makes effect his fate. Conflicting
ideas existed between the spouses and as well as the decisions Cassius make and how they affect
him. Fate gives Brutus a chance to change his decision that he made of his own free will about
killing Caesar by having Portia, who is Brutus s wife, encourage him to change his mind. First,
Portia gives Brutus a sign of fate by revealing that when the men left her house they hid their
faces even from darkness (II, i, 905). Brutus decides to ignore Portia s warning about men who
hide their faces, which is one of the events that leads up to Brutus s, and also Portia s suicidal act
of [swallowing] hot coals , fated suicide (Salem Press). Next, Portia reminds Brutus that she is not
weak because she is well reputed and a woman that Brutus saw fit to marry (II, i, 923). Even
knowing and being sufficiently reminded that Portia is not of lesser intelligence than he is; Brutus
still continues on with his decision to betray Caesar. Also, Portia reminds Brutus that he can trust
her to help him make the right decision and that she will not disclose his secrets to others (II, i,
926). Brutus at this

Foreign Exchange Risk Management
REVIEW 1 The survey of foreign currency risk awareness and management practices in Tanzania
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Foreign exchange risk management
Foreign currency exchange risk is the additional riskiness or varience of a firm s cash flows that
may be attributed to currency fluctuations (Giddy, 1977, Brigham and Ehrhardt, 2005). Normally,
foreign currency risk exists in three forms; translation, transaction and economic exposures.
Foreign currency risk management involves taking decisions which aim at minimizing or
eliminating the negative effects of currency fluctuations on balance sheet and income statement
values, a firm s receipts and payments arising out of current transactions, and on long term future
cash flows of a firm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using a unique set of data containing complete foreign currency spot and derivatives positions of
Korean exporting firms, we empirically find that currency position squaring firms have significantly
higher firm value. We also find evidence that these firms time the currency market when they
manage their currency cash position. Meanwhile, firms time the credit market when they determine
the use of foreign currency debts. Strikingly, firms still time the market even when they conduct
derivatives hedging and synthetic hedging. Our findings are consistent with the market timing
theory of capital structure.
The second essay examines what determines banks‟ exposure to foreign currency risks, their
management of these risks, and the relationship to the probability of bank failures. Using a unique
data set of Korean banks with detailed information on their foreign currency risk exposures and
hedging positions, we find that banks‟ foreign currency position mismatches, maturity
mismatches, and debt roll over risks are significantly attributed to their dollar carry lending strategy,
which is stimulated by market timing of corporate firms, short maturity dollar borrowings, real
estate market booms, and dollar interest rate tightening. We also find that banks‟ foreign
currency exposures significantly increase their financial distress likelihood through dollar carry

The essence of gratitude is acknowledging and appreciating the good in your life and doing so
surfaces endless benefits that contribute to well being. While this hypothesis seems rather
indisputable there is evidence and research to further convince the sceptics. Emmons and
McCullough garnered their conclusions through an experiment in which different groups
documented their lives in different manners. Through daily and weekly journals the participants
were asked to record negative occurrences, neutral events, or things they were grateful for
respectively. The findings were conclusive; the group that kept tabs on things they were grateful
for consistently reported a greater sense of well being (Sansone and Sansone, 18 22). The
methods Emmons and McCullough used to conduct this experiment were very professional and
free of any bias. By tailoring the experiment to allow for as much participant control as possible
there is little room for influence on their part. Additional research from Froh and Sefick in
partnership with Emmons echoes these sentiments. The trio conducted a study in which 221

Authorship Of Hebrews
The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by
the author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is.
With that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews
followed Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church
fathers believe that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the
reason that Hebrews seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex
language. There are other suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to
support. Pricilla is one example, it would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her
being in Paul s inner circle and the book having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look

Apollos as the author of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as,

Examples Of Nihilism In Macbeth
A Look at Nihilism in Madame Bovary and Macbeth
Nihilism
Nihilism which comes from the Latin word, Nihil means nothing, to destroy completely, as seen in
it being the base of the annihilation. Nihilism is the idea that all beliefs and ideals are without
foundation and that nothing can truly be identified or known. Every belief, every considering
something true, is necessarily false because there is simply no true world (Nietzsche). Nihilism
tends to be related to skepticism and pessimism by many people. A person who was truly a Nihilist
would have no desire or belief and anything, they would probably be led by a compulsion to destroy.

Nihilism. Ethan is having an emotional affair with Zeena s cousin, which he has convinced himself
is fine because Zeena is dying. Then he and Mattie decide that the only way they can be together is

Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Internal Revenue Service. The federal agency responsible for administering and enforcing the
Treasury Department s revenue laws, through the assessment and collection of taxes, determination
of pension plan qualification, and related activities.
he 1980s saw a revamping of the IRS. A bipartisan commission was made with a few commands,
among them to build client benefit and enhance collections. Congress later sanctioned the Internal
Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998.
As an aftereffect of that Act, the IRS now works under four noteworthy working divisions: Large
Business and International division (LB I), the Small Business/Self Employed (SB/SE) division,
the Wage and Investment (W I) division, and TaxExempt and Government Entities (TE/GE)
division. Compelling October 1, 2010, the name of the Large and Mid Size Business division
changed to the Large Business and International (LB I) division. The IRS additionally incorporates a
criminal law implementation division (IRS Criminal Investigation Division). While there is some
proof that client administration has enhanced, lost assessment incomes in 2001 were over $323

Different Types Of Media That Can Be Used For Connect...
What are the different types of media that can be used to connect different computers together into a
computer network?
There are four basic types of connection media that are used for connecting separate computers
together on the same computer network. Both categories are copper cabling, fiber optic cabling,
wireless signal, and infrared signals. The first two types of connection media on our lives are
known as bounded network media because they both use wire of some sort in order to connect or
bound one computer to another on a network. Copper cables are the most commonly used of the
four types of network connection media. Copper cabling sends data in binary format from one
computer system on a network to another through the use of electrical signals. Fiber optic
cabling follows copper cabling when it comes to frequency of use. Fiber optic cable has a
completely different configuration for transferring binary data across the network from one
computer system to another computer system. Unlike copper cable fiber optic cable does not use
electrical signals when encoding binary data instead it transmits the data as pulses of light. Fiber
optic cables transmit the binary data as light pulses in a similar fashion to the way copper cables
use electrical pulses to transmit binary data. The next two types of connection media are known as
unbounded network media due to the fact that they do not use any type of physical wiring to
connect the different computer systems on a

Examples Of A Memorable Experience Essay
Memorable Moments
First, my memorable and valuable experience in college has allowed me the chance to be able to
sharpen my study skills in my chosen field. There have been opportunities for me to learn and
improve my skills through my time in college, which I am very thankful and happy about. For
example, at my school, in the Writing Center, I have learned some writing tips that I didn t even
know existed, and had this not been a part of my experience I would still be unaware. Because of
this, despite what I was thinking, I still had quite a bit to learn; but this has given me the chance
to improve my craft more through attending school, as well as give me a lot more confidence in
the area that I plan to study towards. And as a result, some day I will have a rewarding career from
this memorable and value experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Learning about religion has been a privilege, and all the parts of the world I was
unfamiliar with, religions of Islam and Buddhism, that beforehand I had no knowledge of. From
this experience, I have learned a lot of things about these cultures that were very interesting and
how the religions are followed. Also, learning about all the different practices and ideas of the
religions in different parts of the world, such as worshipping multiple deities, reincarnation, and
meditation, has been memorable to me because of its value, and all the misconceptions that are
cleared up now that I once had, which has enabled me to understand the topic better and be less
ignorant. It has also helped me understand traditions and beliefs of others more clear, no matter
where in the world of their origin. This has made my time as a student a lot more memorable,

Analysis Of The Satirical Street Art That Sends Messages...
Introduction Known for his satirical street art that sends messages of awareness of the corrupt
society, Banksy, has remarked that a recent survey or North American males found 42% were
overweight, 34% were critically obese and 8% ate the survey. With the rising awareness and
prevalence, obesity has become an epidemic. In the United States alone, one of every five
Americans are overweight, and one of every five are obese. Among the younger ages of
childhood and adolescence, the National Health and Nutrition Examination reported that 17% of
kids age six through nineteen are obese. This problem, of course, is not limited only to America.
Studies performed by the United Nations have reported that in the year 2000, the number of
people suffering from overnutrition a billion had officially surpassed the number suffering from
malnutrition 800 million. An estimated 2.5 people are added to the global population each
second, and one of them will be deemed obese or overweight. Currently, estimates have shown
that 33% of the world population of 7.08 billion (2.26 billion) are overweight. In the United
States alone, 17% of children and adolescents are obese, and a majority will remain overweight as
adults.Furthermore a rising problem faced, revolves around comorbid conditions historically
linked among obese adult patients only, but are now seen in childhood. One disease in particular,

Philip II of Macedonia Essay
Philip II of Macedonia became king when he was 23 years old in very dire situations in 359
B.C.E. (Sekunda 4). There were threats from barbarians north of Macedonia, and threats from
the cunning Greek southern cities (4). Philip had to act quickly to gain control so he needed to
create an army (4). He had spent time in Thebes as a hostage and gained military knowledge from
the work of Epaminondas, one of the greatest generals of the day ( Philip II ). He armed his
military with a sarissa, a pike that, at about 16 feet long, had a greater reach than Greek weapons (
Philip II ). This weapon made his army very powerful and allowed his phalanxes to strike first (
Philip II ). In 338 B.C.E., Philip defeated Chaeronea, one of the Greek... Show more content on

Philip and Cleopatra soon have a daughter and name her Europa (34). Philip is preparing for his
invasion, and without a male heir to the throne, everyone is concerned about what will happen
to the empire if he is killed in battle (35). Philip follows the advice of Demaratus and sends for
his son Alexander (35). Soon after Alexander returns, Philip is offered a proposal of marriage
between his mentally handicapped son, Arrhidaeus, and the daughter of the Carian throne (35).
Alexander goes behind his father and sends the famed actor, Thessalus, to negotiate the marriage
with him instead (35). Philip finds out and tells Alexander that he has showed little hope for
being a worthy king (36). Alexander has just returned to the empire and does not want to create a
new rift with Philip so he readily admits he had behaved imprudently (36). With all of the family
distractions, Philip tries to focus on his plans for the invasion. He does have one other family
matter to take care of before he leaves. Philip fears that Olympias brother, Alexander of Epirus,
will not keep his allegiance with him since he divorced Olympias (36). He arranges the marriage
of his daughter Cleopatra to Alexander to secure his allegiance (36). Philip knows he will be
gone in battle for a long while, so he invites many friends, dignitaries, and ambassadors from all of
Greece and beyond to the wedding ceremony (36).

Nothing says beauty pampering like kicking your heels back with a cold glass of lemonade, a
good book, and a nice, skin enriching face mask. There are a lot of facial products available on
the market, but if you want to save a little bit of money, creating a homemade facial mask is as
easy as finding a facial mask recipe, and setting aside a few minutes to create the mixture. You
could use a lot of different ingredients, and you can find most of them in your kitchen. With an
open mind and a few moments of your time, making something like an oatmeal facial or even a
kitty litter facial mask, can cost you absolutely nothing.

The Infamous Kitty Litter Facial
The thought of smearing your face with the same stuff the cat does its business in might be a little
tough to swallow at first, but as it turns out, pure clay varieties of kitty litter are made from
bentonite the same kind of clay used for facial masks in high priced spas.
Bentonite clay is great for all skin types and is full of nutrients and minerals that both
exfoliate, hydrate, and nourish the skin. If you re going to buy this stuff at beauty stores though, it
s likely to cost a bit of a pretty penny. When you make your very own kitty litter facial though, you

The Quick Service Food Industry
Americans love efficiency, and they love to eat, thus, the reason for the quick service food industry
(QSR). The restaurant industry has been slightly unstable as the economy climbs out of recession,
and families slowly gain income to allow for a night to dine out. As a whole, the restaurant industry
everything from full service to fast foodaccounts for 47% of this year s fooddollar share, while
supermarkets claim the majority, accounting for 53%. Within the restaurant industry, fast food
restaurants were the only sub industry to show positive guest traffic in the first quarter with a .8%
increase, as compared to 2013.
Because QSR is an oligarchy industry a few companies dominate the market: McDonald s, Chick

Of the companies that have experimented with this concept, they have found success in
frequently changing the deals offered. Moreover, these deals offered by the restaurants
encourage the consumer to purchase more while at the store; same store sales in fast food
restaurants increased 1.6% in January of 2014, and 3.2% by April. Still, the industry is
experiencing pressure from lack of sales, and to counteract this, McDonalds CEO, Donald
Thompson, and CFO, Peter Bensen, announced in April 2014 that the company will be cutting
costs in factors of production, but no specifics were released. Yum! Brand doesn t feel the heat
with their worldwide sales growth of 4% in the 1st quarter of 2014; their brands include KFC, Taco
Bell, and Pizzahut. Other chains are searching for alternatives to expand their companies and
increase profit. Panera Bread and Chipotle have ventured into the catering industry, which at the
fast food level has few competitors. They now offer their products in large quantities for events,
and Chipotle even offers a customizable option no salsa on your burrito, no problem. Chipotle
implemented this idea in January of 2013; as of May 2014 they ve seen comparable sales grow
13.4%. Some chains took an alternative approach to increase sales by selling branded goods; for
example, Dunkin Donuts sells their brand of coffee, as does Starbucks.
Many companies are still healing from the blow of the 2008 recession.

Negative Images Of African Americans
I would argue that most of the images in which society has provided the African American
community with are negative images of African American women. For example, on VH1 there
are shows like Basketball Wives, and Love and Hip Hop in which from the surface appears to be
a group of friends that like to hang out, shop and party however, as you watch the show the ladies
are depicted as hypersexual, sex objects, violent, hostile, aggressive and use derogatory terms when
referring to each other. This is a problem due to the fact African American
adolescents do not have
enough positive images in which they can utilize in assisting them in developing a positive self
image, self esteem or just a general idea of self worth. With there being a lack

College Cost Analysis
Do you know how much college costs? In the academic year 2005 2006 to go to a 4 year public
school it was 5,492 per year. Now in the academic year 2015 2016 the cost has risen to 9,410 per
year (Dickler). The price has nearly doubled. College never used to cost that much but then it
started to become more popular and the costof it has started to go up. This trend is going to
continue. The cost of collegeis rising and it is becoming more popular.
As the cost of college continues to rise it was not always like that. In the 1870s the cost of
college was $150. Today that equals $2,685.64 (Writers). College started to become more popular
when people were able to make more money per hour if you attended college. The first college
opened in 1636 that was Harvard University. The acceptance rate was 6% (Niche). Many students
were not able to get into college. More colleges began to open and so more students were accepted.
Then, everyone started to go to college so people felt expected to go. In 2008, tuition fees increased
439% since 1982, while income has only gone up 147% (Writers). People are then not able to
afford it since income is not increasing as fast as college. In an article written by Jessica Dickler
it is reported that 57% of graduates said that they regret taking out as many loans as they did, and

college. That was the same result in the survey. The outcome of the survey and the research were
very similar. These results support that the cost of college is rising and it is becoming more

Prozac ( Fluoxetine ) And Suicide
PROZAC (FLUOXETINE) AND SUICIDE
What are the risks?
Since the early 20th century millions of people have suffered with some form of depression,
which is categorized as either Major Depression, Clinical Depression or Major Depressive
Disorder. However it s categorized, the symptoms include severe sadness, inability to cope with
day to day issues, and a general lack of interest in family, friends and/or life in general. Over the
years that astounding number has been both a boon to the economy and a ray of hope for sufferers
in the form of antidepressants. One of the first medications introduced as a treatment in the United
States in 1998, was Prozac (Fluoxetine), which is an SSRIs or Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, which
works to balance out the feelings of pleasure and emotions, which is why it was dubbed the
Happy Pill . It was widely touted to be the solution for the masses, however for many who
suffered with severe depression, it was not such a ray of hope. Prozac soon became associated
with aggression and suicidal tendencies by the media. This paper will support the evidence that
Prozac, while very effective for mild depressive symptoms is linked to aggression and suicide in
both adult and minors who suffer from major depression.

French Revolution Dbq Research Paper
During the late 18th century, France was divided into two different social classes of people. One,
were the first and second estate who were very wealthy and yielded political power. They consisted
of the clergy, nobles, and royalty. The rest of the population of France, the 97%, were poor common
people that had poverty and high tax imposed on them, and they were known as the third estate. The
third estate wanted democracy, and the first and second estate wanted a monarchy, which caused
the French revolution. Napoleon Bonaparte, a returning general of Francefrom a successful military

He provided equality for people in the Napoleonic Code written in 1804. Every Frenchman shall

that were men, which excluded people in French colonies as well as women. Women s rights
was fought for during the French revolution, so by decreeing this in the code, Napoleon betrays
one of the ideals of the French revolution. Also in the Napoleonic code, Napoleon betrays another
ideal that was pushed for during the French revolution. The laws are executory throughout the
whole French territory, by virtue of promulgation thereof made by the first Consul. (Source F).
Napoleon, being the first consul of France, gives himself a significant amount of control over
France by forcing any laws that he decrees to be followed by all citizens in France. Ironically he
gives rights to some, but forces all to obey him and his laws. One of the main reasons the French
revolution commenced was because the people of France believed in a government where all had
rights and political power, rather than only the rich. The decades fought and the bloodshed was for
a democracy, but here, Napoleon returns France back to a constitutional

WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice
Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants
will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong
Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to
prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus
(American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of
unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after
discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an
infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment
of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will
have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit
and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware
of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the
first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of
phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian
race (AAP, 2004).
Recommendations for laboratory evaluation with a TB include every infant who is jaundiced in the
first 24 hours after birth,

Today, with the consumers who are perpetually connected to internet and prefer real timeservices,
businesses need to have shorter time to market and provide seamless multichannel experience to
allow consumers to shift effortlessly from one channel to another. The businesses also need to rely
of big data analytics and automation to serve customers efficiently. Thus, the nature of enterprise IT
is driven by business demand to improve core business processes and bring innovation in the way
the business is conducted.
Changing role of IT in business over the period of time
Earlier, enterprises required technology updates which were limited to overhaul of network
architecture, hardware, software and data storage. Such IT transformation was common when
information technology was more to do only with the computers, software and networks. However,
with the increased business emphasis on data collaboration and flexibility, digitization is using
cloud, social media and analytics to enable business innovation. The digital transformation is not
only enhancing the consumer experience, operational processes and business models, but also
changing the company s underlying IT operating model and processes.
Currently installed enterprise architecture is constrained with the ability to respond quickly to the
evolving business needs. With the era of digital disruption and tech savvy

  • 3. Math Experience In My Life At an early age, I was bad at math, yet I knew it would be my passion. Throughout elementary school, I gave into the idea that I lacked intelligence enough to pursue mathematics seriously in school, and later on in my life. Nonetheless, math found itself back into my life during my middle school years and solidified its presence within my life. I was the dumb kid in class, unable to add and subtract, unable to memorize the multiplication table. Before, I found joy in knowing. To this date I remember what seemed like witchcraft as my father, on one of his rare visits home from work, showing me how squares worked when I was five. The Japanese education system in my first and second grade placed value in the ability to memorize rules and tables. The better one was at memorization, which felt to me the mindless recounting of multiplication and division and the ability to just know the answer, was needed for success. I wanted to know why the number four was four. What it really meant. What does it mean that there are two less from six? Why were Eight things divided by two equal the same as the square of two? I was interested in the hows and the whys of numbers, not just its identity. For this reason, I was not deemed successful and was not seen as a student with prospects. Despite my seeming lack of talent in the mathematical field, I knew, I knew somehow that math was my passion. I was successful in the math classes in the elementary school in America. All that was required of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Macbeth Moral Psychology Essay The principles of one individual is different from moral code of someone else. Moral psychology plays a role because the reality in life is that there are norms, especially societal norms, showing different perceptions of what is good and what is evil (Taylor 1). For instance, bad influences can alter the ego of a well rounded human being. As a result, his or her standpoints can change the way he or she thinks. This alteration in personality is caused by the environmental factors rather than biological factors. In other words, someone can plague the psychological thoughts of another person. This is an implication that good and evil actions from someone is not the result of heredity or decisions made by oneself (Taylor 1). Greed is a major setback in Macbeth. In the beginning of this tragic play, Macbeth is initially the most trusted nobleman of King Duncan. His role is to protect the king rather than killing him. He originally does not want to murder King Duncan because he promoted Macbeth, who dislikes the new position he was in after killing a traitor. The situational irony of it all is that Macbeth becomes the new traitor. The driving force of his greed in power is his wife, Lady Macbeth. After the success of the plan, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lady Macbeth starts to express emotional regret. Prior to this reaction, she organizes a plan to make Macbeth king by murdering King Duncan. After the execution of King Duncan, the ambition of Lady Macbeth slowly faded away. ( Guilt of 1) Her guilt is best represented by this quote: Had he not resembled. My father as he slept, I had done t (Shakespeare Act 2, Scene 2, Lines 12 13). In this quote, she compares King Duncan with her father, in which she shows a feeling of remorse. Since she cannot get them out of her mind like she expects, she is now in a hazardous mental state of mind and commits suicide. ( Guilt of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. America Needs To Preserve Natural Resources Natural Resource Conservation In 1964, at the signing of the final Wilderness Act, President Lyndon B. Johnson said, If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology (Famous Quotes). The Wilderness Act started with Theodore Roosevelt in 1901, who conserved 230 million acres of public land. The Act created the National WildernessPreservation System (NWPS), which protects wilderness areas designated for preservation in their natural condition. Even though well planned programs of preservation could cease the usage of nonrenewable natural resources, the conservation of the wilderness and natural resources through laws and National/State Parks is the best approach to saving the land. Since 1964, the NWPS believe that preservation, not conservation, is the best approach to saving natural resources. According to David Newton, a specialist in life sciences, if the government prevent the cutting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pipelines, similar to the Keystone Pipeline, stretch for miles under the earth s surface. Oil is toxic to living things and if leaked, can destroy crops and like the oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico in 2010, contaminate fresh water springs, causing life forms to either get sick or die. If the government had a better handle over the entirety of its land, the country would become a considerably better place to live. The debate over preservation and conservation of the natural resources has been going on for almost a hundred years, with little conclusion. The government of the United States, along with advocates from each state, need to reach a consensus to provide methods of conservation to the country that prevents wasteful usage of nonrenewable and natural resources and leaves wilderness for later generations to ... • 6. Essay on What Is Really Behind Advertisement Many people are in the debate whether companies use persuasion or manipulation in their advertisements to get people to buy a certain product. In the Innocent ones advertisement the Stop the Abuse organization shows a picture of a sad, abused little boy. The advertisement only shows half of his face, but the color in his face has been lightened so it has a gray tint. To the right, where the other half of his face should be, there is a stop sign. The stop sign is bright red, and below the stop sign are big bolded words that read, I am Not a punching bag. The word not is underlined to bring the significance of the advertisement to end child abuse. The advertisement is placed a a pitch black background to the picture stand out more. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And then there are some people who look at it and their heart will break and they will donate immediately. The picture can only be counted as unfair if it invoked the same emotion in everyone no matter who viewed it. Another reason the advertisement is not manipulative is because even though the way the advertisement was structured was skillful, it was more on the creative side. The creativity is shown by the content of the advertisement. With the use of a stop sign to replace half of a child s face, big bolded words, color scheme, and half of a child s face the company used creativity in designing the advertisement. The only skill that was used was the structure of the advertisement. With the child s face to the left, the stop sign to the right, and the bolded words underneath the stop sign it made the advertisement very easy to follow. However, that was the only skill used in the advertisement which is why it was more creative than skillful. The advertisement that the Stop The Abuse organization has recently came out with is persuasive and not manipulative because even though the advertisement is sad and may touch the emotions of some people, the fact of the matter is that it is only an advertisement and it is strictly the person s, who is watching the advertisement, choice on whether to donate to the advertisement. The whole purpose of why the organization used the advertisement is in an attempt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Kite Runner The Kite Runner Essay No one is born evil, the environment in which one is raised influences what kind of person they will be. The Kite Runner, a historical fiction novel written by Khaled Hoesseni, follows a young Afghani boy named Amir. Amir makes some regrettable decisions in his youth and the guilt haunts him throughout his life as he searches for a way to redeem himself. Amir also grew up with his friend/servant named Hassan. Hassan is a Hazara boy that lived in the mud shack behind Amir s house. Amir is a very selfish and cowardly character, but he was not born with these character traits, some factors can be attributed to Amir s selfishness or cowardice. Baba, Amir s father, would always treat Hassan with the same amount of love and respect as he would Amir, if not more. This angered Amir as he wanted Baba all to himself. In addition, Amir is somewhat of a shy person that likes to keep his thoughts and emotions bottled up inside, which is not positive for anyone. Finally, the juristic difference in social classes in Afghanistanthat separate Amir and Hassan also contribute to Amir s cowardice. Amir s upbringing and the society he lived in directly attribute to Amir s cowardice. Baba treated Hassan as if he were his own child and this proves to be harmful to Amir. During the winters in Kabul kite running was a staple activity and a family tradition for most. The tradition is no different with Amir, every year he would fly kites with Hassan and Baba. It was a beautiful ring, shining at every angle. In the center was a large glistening diamond with four smaller diamonds surrounding it to represent the four years they spent together before he asked the inevitable question. She looked up from the computer screen and caught a glance of the invitation, Please join us in celebrating the marriage of Thomas David and Tiffany Michelle was written in baby blue across a rustic brown background. Below the writing was a picture of the happy couple standing on an old wooden bridge, Tommy wrapping his calloused hands around his bride s petite waist. The photo captured the whole scenery so perfectly; blossoming flowers created a frame around their upper body, with large, unique rocks surrounding them on both sides. What was not visible was the aged oak tree with TD + MH = FOREVER carved into the side or the small hideout beneath the bridge where the Tommy and Margaret shared their first kiss. Suddenly the door screeched open and Margaret quickly shut the lid of her laptop just as Mark walked in. He kissed her on the cheek, Drinking already sweetheart? It s only six o clock . • 10. Identity Is Something We Search Essay Identity Identity is something we search for, something we want to find out about ourselves. We want to know what we are here for and what s our purpose. Identity is the way one sees themselves and our identity is all we have that s why we protect it and always are trying to make ours better than the others. I believe college is a time where we find our identity, maybe we have an idea on what it is going to be and sometimes it takes us many years to figure it out. In Daniel Marks experience his identity is going to take awhile for him to find if he doesn t change his ways. Daniels before was very rough, he was in trouble a lot. He said he felt like a failure to his father s standards. He enjoys partying very much, this has lead to him being a poor student with a GPA below a 2.0. His study habits are very poor but he is planning on going to college. His advisor told him he would fail out if he didn t change his ways. After hearing all about daniel s story I would categorize him into the Diffusion area. This is because he is just simply doesn t care, he lacks motivation and is only doing enough to barely get by. I can avoid all of these things by sticking to the things I ve been doing and to adjust and use the strategies we have learned in U100. In Monica s story you hear about a lot of the things she was going through in her first semester so it s pretty relatable. She tells us about how her parents did not attend college, but she really wants to. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. An inspector calls. Essay An inspector calls. I am going to write about how J. B. Priestley builds up tension and suspense within An Inspector calls . The play was written in 1945 due to the divide at that time between Capitalists and Socialists. Given the fact that J. B. Priestley was a socialist (felt that everyone should have equal amounts of money), he was criticizing the ways of capitalists (they felt that you got what you earned). The play is set in 1912, a time just before a lot of dramatic incidents happened, e. g. World War 1, The Titanic sinking. All of the play takes place in the Birling s dining room, they are celebrating. Each of the characters in this play (except inspector Goole and Edna), are partly responsible for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sheila is stated to be a pretty girl in her early twenties . We would certainly not call someone in their twenties a girl , the word is used because Sheila has not grown up mentally. Gerald is an attractive chap , meaning that he s just a little big headed, but generally well mannered. Eric is said to be not quite at ease . I do not think that Eric really fits in to the Birling family, he is quite different. The tension between Arthur Birling and the audience begins when Birling speaks of labour trouble and stating that we ve passed the worst of it when the first World War was just about to start or had already started. What we must remember is that people who are watching this play are still very angry and upset about the second World War. So, Mr Birling strikes them as a total idiot and the audience dislike him. A certain amount of tension amounts between various family members also. The occasions on which these things happen are: В· Sheila and Gerald Gerald told Sheila that he had been working the previous summer when he hardly went near her. She had suspicions that Gerald was being untrue to her. She was assured, however, that it was all in her head. She finds out that Gerald was being untrue when he was being interrogated. • 12. BP Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill CASE STUDY MINI CASE: BP GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL CASE SUMMARY 1.In a narrative format, summarize the key facts and issues of the case. In the case of the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill, we examine the effects of an organization not being prepared for this particular crisis. The world scrutinized the actions, inactions, and the human decisions made by BP that led to a major catastrophic crisis. The organization was not prepared for a crisis of this magnitude. Our text stated that this type of negligence has been coined the term sloppy management. They were oblivious to the issues pertaining to the deep waters, the ocean wildlife and the habitats of those marine animals. Rome was perhaps the greatest empire to have taken shape in history, exerting an infinite amount of influence in politics, medicine, civilization, military, and language. In this story, many people fell in love with someone and had all the feelings in the world for them, but the other person either didn t know or may not feel the same way. This also happens in the real world with many people and many people end up upset over it because they like the person so much which helps support Fitzgerald s idea of social breakdown and how the feeling happens in the story and in the real world now and back then. Many people see it as if it is alright to cheat on someone and don t think about the decision they ve made. As the story went on and Daisy found out more and more about the cheating, she got tired of dealing with it and ended up killing Myrtle which is very ironic because her husband was cheating on her with Myrtle. This is an example of social breakdown because in society it s wrong to kill somebody. Daisy killed her out of anger and jealousy which still would never make it right to kill somebody. She should ve left Tom and let him go on with life with Myrtle. At the beginning of the story, Nick realizes quickly how wrong Tom and Daisy s marriage is. • 17. Childhood Development Through Active And Participatory... Childhood can be explained as an early stage of life in which there is the existence of development through active and participatory socialization. The stage of childhood only began to exist post fifteenth and sixteenth century; children used to be considered miniature adults (James, p. 16). Once children were removed from the adulthood designation, the attitudes of parents also began to change; they began coddling their children. Prior to the fifteenth century, children were expected to perform hard labour. As formal education grew in popularity within society, it added an extra component to the socializationof children. In the book Constructing and Reconstructing Childhood, (2004, p.13) Shildkrout concludes that in the traditional approach of socialization, child culture is seen as a rehearsal for adult life and socialization consists of the process through which, by one method or another, children are made to conform, in cases of successful socializations or become deviants in cases of failed socialization . This brings forth the ideology that children develop and are socialized on a universal spectrum that has only successful or deviant outcomes. Although there are advantages of recognizing the importance of the traditional approach on childhood socialization, it is vital to use the childhood perspective to gain a complete understanding of the socialization of children. • 19. The Evil Character Of Iago Evil has been portrayed throughout time in many ways. In Christian theology, it has been shown through the character of Satan and his various sins. In Stephen King novels, it is portrayed through the imagery provided by monsters and humans with cruel intentions. All these characters, though different in many ways, all hold a similar trait, that they are aware of the evil nature and how they represent a different nature to seem a certain way to others. They may portray themselves as kind, caring, and honest when they are in fact, quite the opposite; cruel, dishonest and malevolent. They also all have the power to be destructive, even if they do not have a direct reason to, only their own desire to do so. While good is self producing and improving, evil is self destructive and can only create evil. Iago, as an evil character, holds many similarities to other wicked figures, and is sometimes seen as a satan like figure. Shakespeare uses the character of Iago to display the different forms evil can take on such as being hidden behind false intentions, turning into an image of good, and its destructive nature resulting into its own end. In the beginning of the play, Iago is seen by other characters as a wholesome character, often called Honest Iago due to his seemingly kind nature, though it is merely a mask his wickedness is hidden behind. Cancers in this gland are the most common malignancies, which grow very slowly, and can have minimal effect on a man s quality of life. However, a tumor in the prostate gland can be problematic for men, especially black men, even though it is only about the size of a walnut. Located below the bladder and in front of the rectum, the prostate provides the fluid that nourishes and protects sperm cells in the semen. Researchers are still debating the cause of this disease, although certain risk factors such as age, ethnicity, culture, environment, diet, and family history, increase the chance of getting it. Prostate cancer affects African American men and early screening and detection are the key factors that can be used to prevent mortality and reduce morbidity, especially in the Brooklyn area. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in African American men and has the highest reported morВ¬tality rate, which is 2.4 times higher than in Caucasian men or any racial or ethnic group in the United States, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC; 2014). In reading about the cosmological argument it is basically an argument that begins with the existence of the universe and tries to prove God s existence. Thomas Aquinas said it this way, (1) everything in the universeis moved by something else. Unless we can go back in time forever, with things being constantly moved by something else, there must be a point where movement started. (Godwin) Aquinas goes on to say, there must be a Prime mover that began movement in the Universe, when there was nothing, and this is God. In support of the cosmological argument, the author states, to suggest that things just pop into being uncaused out of nothing is to quit doing serious metaphysics and resort to magic. In reading the material, the author highlights how God in all of his wisdom and power set the earth in perfect motion in such a way that the laws are perfectly balanced not only for human life but for coexistence of plants and animals and all living organisms. Many authors use rhetorical appeals when writing. Rhetorical appeals are logos, pathos, ethos, and kairos. These appeals help one to appeal to character, logic, emotion, time and more. When writing, the author has to consider the writer, the reader, the medium, and the text for the work in which they would like to create. This statement can also be considered pathos because Didion uses many descriptive words to allow the reader to feel the pain of a migraine. Another example of logos is when Didion begins to talk about former presidents Thomas Jefferson and Ulysses S. Grant. While she is talking about these two presidents she states the fact that they both suffered from migraines which is a proven fact. Didion calls her migraines a physiological error which can be a fact about why migraines occur. Didion also uses logos when she states, The chemistry of migraine, however, seems to have some connection with the nerve hormone named serotonin, which is naturally present in the brain (Didion). • 34. Fate vs Free Will in Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare The hubris of rich, powerful, or politically connected men creates a false sense of security that often leads to their fate being a horrific downfall. Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare exposes the conflicting ideas that exist between fate and free will by showing the relationship between Caesar, Brutus, and their wives, and how the decisions Cassius makes effect his fate. Conflicting ideas existed between the spouses and as well as the decisions Cassius make and how they affect him. Fate gives Brutus a chance to change his decision that he made of his own free will about killing Caesar by having Portia, who is Brutus s wife, encourage him to change his mind. First, Portia gives Brutus a sign of fate by revealing that when the men left her house they hid their faces even from darkness (II, i, 905). Brutus decides to ignore Portia s warning about men who hide their faces, which is one of the events that leads up to Brutus s, and also Portia s suicidal act of [swallowing] hot coals , fated suicide (Salem Press). Next, Portia reminds Brutus that she is not weak because she is well reputed and a woman that Brutus saw fit to marry (II, i, 923). Even knowing and being sufficiently reminded that Portia is not of lesser intelligence than he is; Brutus still continues on with his decision to betray Caesar. Also, Portia reminds Brutus that he can trust her to help him make the right decision and that she will not disclose his secrets to others (II, i, 926). Brutus at this ... Foreign Exchange Risk Management REVIEW 1 The survey of foreign currency risk awareness and management practices in Tanzania REVIEW OF LITERATURE Foreign exchange risk management Foreign currency exchange risk is the additional riskiness or varience of a firm s cash flows that may be attributed to currency fluctuations (Giddy, 1977, Brigham and Ehrhardt, 2005). Normally, foreign currency risk exists in three forms; translation, transaction and economic exposures. Foreign currency risk management involves taking decisions which aim at minimizing or eliminating the negative effects of currency fluctuations on balance sheet and income statement values, a firm s receipts and payments arising out of current transactions, and on long term future cash flows of a firm. ... Using a unique set of data containing complete foreign currency spot and derivatives positions of Korean exporting firms, we empirically find that currency position squaring firms have significantly higher firm value. We also find evidence that these firms time the currency market when they manage their currency cash position. Meanwhile, firms time the credit market when they determine the use of foreign currency debts. Strikingly, firms still time the market even when they conduct derivatives hedging and synthetic hedging. Our findings are consistent with the market timing theory of capital structure. The second essay examines what determines banks‟ exposure to foreign currency risks, their management of these risks, and the relationship to the probability of bank failures. Using a unique data set of Korean banks with detailed information on their foreign currency risk exposures and hedging positions, we find that banks‟ foreign currency position mismatches, maturity mismatches, and debt roll over risks are significantly attributed to their dollar carry lending strategy, which is stimulated by market timing of corporate firms, short maturity dollar borrowings, real estate market booms, and dollar interest rate tightening. We also find that banks‟ foreign currency exposures significantly increase their financial distress likelihood through dollar carry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The essence of gratitude is acknowledging and appreciating the good in your life and doing so surfaces endless benefits that contribute to well being. While this hypothesis seems rather indisputable there is evidence and research to further convince the sceptics. Emmons and McCullough garnered their conclusions through an experiment in which different groups documented their lives in different manners. Through daily and weekly journals the participants were asked to record negative occurrences, neutral events, or things they were grateful for respectively. The findings were conclusive; the group that kept tabs on things they were grateful for consistently reported a greater sense of well being (Sansone and Sansone, 18 22). The methods Emmons and McCullough used to conduct this experiment were very professional and free of any bias. By tailoring the experiment to allow for as much participant control as possible there is little room for influence on their part. Additional research from Froh and Sefick in partnership with Emmons echoes these sentiments. The trio conducted a study in which 221 adolescents were tracked and those who routinely counted their blessings experienced enhanced life satisfaction and overall well being. (Froh, J., Sefick, W. • 38. Authorship Of Hebrews The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by the author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Pricilla is one example, it would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her being in Paul s inner circle and the book having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look past the strong presence of the authors masculine self reference.... One thing that had changed at that time was that his father shifted the course of their conversation and started to talk with a serious tone that Zaid never had heard from his father before, so he was shocked little bit. His father sounded like he wanted to open zaid s eyes to something. He asked him, Son, what are your expectations for your life? . Zaid was not sure why he asked him that. There are four basic types of connection media that are used for connecting separate computers together on the same computer network. Both categories are copper cabling, fiber optic cabling, wireless signal, and infrared signals. The first two types of connection media on our lives are known as bounded network media because they both use wire of some sort in order to connect or bound one computer to another on a network. Copper cables are the most commonly used of the four types of network connection media. Copper cabling sends data in binary format from one computer system on a network to another through the use of electrical signals. Fiber optic cabling follows copper cabling when it comes to frequency of use. Fiber optic cable has a completely different configuration for transferring binary data across the network from one computer system to another computer system. Unlike copper cable fiber optic cable does not use electrical signals when encoding binary data instead it transmits the data as pulses of light. Fiber optic cables transmit the binary data as light pulses in a similar fashion to the way copper cables use electrical pulses to transmit binary data. The next two types of connection media are known as unbounded network media due to the fact that they do not use any type of physical wiring to connect the different computer systems on a ... WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus (American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after discharge home will now be discussed.
