Thurgood Marshall s Influence
Thurgood Marshall s impact and influence started at a young age with the development and
guidance from his parents, William and Norma. They taught both he and his brother the
importance of education and to think and learn. It was his father that exposed Thurgood and his
brother to the aspects of the courtroom and the bases and practices of law. Their father would
often get both of them engaged in discussions concerning cases observed in the court and
promoted the need to debate their case. Both their parents were engaged in the boys lives an
ensured education was a priority ( Thurgood Marshall, n.d.). Nevertheless as with any young boy in
school, Thurgood did challenge some of his teachers and found himself disciplined and having to...

The fact he was a minority faced with discrimination his path to fight for equal rights was
inevitable. He became one of most successful equal rights leaders and as one of the pioneers and
catalysis in the civil rights movement. His success and ability in the courtroom along with his
knowledge was noticed by many throughout the world to the point he was asked to assist in the
development of two countries constitutions, Ghana and Tanzania ( Thurgood Marshall Biography,
n.d.). Thurgood Marshall may not have been the most popular civil rights leader, but his work in
the courts proved he set the groundwork for other leaders like Martin Luther King and Malcolm
X to reach audiences vocally across the country in keeping the movement alive and moving
forward. We continue to see what he has done for equal rights and no matter your ethnicity, we all

Hospice Care Description of the Organization
Care designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and focus
on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure. The goal is to enable patients to be comfortable
and free of pain, so that they live each day as fully as possible. Aggressive methods of pain control
may be used. Hospice programs generally are home based, but they sometimes provide services
away from home in freestanding facilities, in nursing homes, or within hospitals. The philosophy of
hospice is to provide support for the patient s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reason I Chose this Agency
Hospice care differs from other forms of medical care in that when the patient is dying, hospice
works hard to relieve needless suffering. Normally, a patient is approved for hospice care if his
or her life expectancy is 6 months or less. Hospice workers treat the person, rather than the
disease. They aren t trying to cure a disease, but rather, they are trying to make the patient as
comfortable as possible. Family and friends are encouraged to gather round and engage with the
hospice patient. Many people have the misconception that the dying want to be left alone, but why
would they want to be abandoned? Hospice is good for families, because they educate them on the
dying process. Hospice care can be rendered in the family home, a nursing home, or in a hospital.
Normally the majority of care is given by the family in the family home, or by nursing staff in a
nursing home or hospital; however there are also private in house hospice facilities for those that
may not have the family support. In the home, nursing home and hospitals the hospice workers
come at specified times to work with the dying patient. They spend take vital signs, offer
palliative care, and also offer support for family members. If you were to be admitted to hospice
care you would find a great team of doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, home healthcare
assistants,

Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease
Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a
congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells
in the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension.
Also known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly
of a very vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise
healthy babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital
heart defects. Functional outcomes, thanks to contemporary medical advances, are generally
successful. As medical professionals, nurses play a significant role in helping patients achieve
therapeutic goals. Therapeutic goals also include a level of psychological wellness in living with
persistent bowel dysfunction after Hirschsprung surgery but few, if any, studies have addressed
this likelihood. Focusing on the results after definitive surgical repair of Hirschsprung disease, the
journal article, An example of psychological adjustment in chronic illness: Hirschsprung s disease
by Athanasakos, Starling, Ross, Nunn, and Cass, identifies outcomes in terms of psychiatric
health. The primary aim of this study was to report overall outcomes after Hirschsprung surgery
and to address the impact of the disease on the optimism for a normal life. Fecal soiling was

Proto-Industrialization And Proto-Industrialization
NK TSHEBI 213509655 ECHS 209 TUT 1 According to Ogilvie (1993), proto industrialisation
refers to the process that took place in Europe during the 16th and 19th century, this process
involved domestic industries which produced goods for international markets. The local producers
for the proto industries included peasants which worked on farmers and still managed to do
manufacturing. Pastoral Farming was labour intensive and as such they could dedicate some of
their time to manufacturing, corn farmers spent their time on manufacturing during the slack
periods. Proto industrialisation often took place in areas with unproductive soils or places which
had few residents or small farming land,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proto industrial workers grew insufficient food to even cover their own basic food needs and this
was due to farms being too small in size or the soils were unfertile. Farming productivity also
decreased because the peasant manufacturers ended up neglecting their farms since manufacturing
was expanding. The peasants who neglected farming ended up depending on the wages paid by the
merchants. Rural manufacturing made minimal demands for fixed capital since no special industry
premises were needed and the machinery used was rather not expensive, poor farmers could also
own these machine since they were affordable (Sewing

The Oppression of the Lower Class by the California...
The Oppression of the Lower Class by the California Department of Motor Vehicles
High traffic fees and fines quite often cause financial difficulties for the lower class. Transportation
has become a necessity over the past one hundred years. Unfortunately with the constant
improvements in vehicle technologies the cost of owning and maintaining a vehicle has constantly
increased. Going hand in hand with these vehicle improvements the California Vehicle Code (CVC)
has become extensive, covering every possible driving mistake with a traffic infraction. Following
these changes the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has constantly grown to cover
the needs of the 27 million vehicles (DMV update 1998, 3) owned in the state with ... Show more

With a suspended license, the driver is forced to find another means of transportation to and from
work. For some this problem may result in a driver continuing to drive, risking additional
citations and larger fines. According to the Law SB 833 by Sen. Quentin Kopp, San Francisco.
The Police can immediately seize and impound a vehicle involved in a traffic accident if the driver
is operating the vehicle with a suspended or revoked license. (NewsBank News File, web site)
There is another way a driver can lose their license. The DMV keeps a driving record on all
drivers with a running point tally, accumulating every moving violation a licensee receives. The
points, either one or two are given according to the type of offense committed. Any driver
accumulating four points in one year will be considered a negligent operator and may have their
license suspended. Six points in two years or eight points in three years results in the same
punishment. (CA DMV, web site)
With escalating fines the hypothetical driver can encounter an even greater problem trying to renew
registration and have his/her suspension expunged. In the California Vehicle Code, 14911.
When a notice of failure to appear or failure to pay a fine is recorded on the department records
pursuant to Sections 40509 and 40509.5, the fine and any penalty assessments shall be a lien upon

Chaucer And The Roman Catholic Church
Chaucer and the Roman Catholic Church
In the years of the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church reigned. It not only influenced
people s lives, but in some ways led them. From what they believed, how they treated women,
how they worked, and how they prayed, the Roman Catholic Church obviously had a large
influence. We know this today by simply reading the reading the literature from that period,
whether it is simple poems like Beowulf or Dream of the Rood, or bigger stories such as Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight. These stories are riddled with Catholic teachings and mentions,
whether they re brought up in a good light, or a negative one. Oddly enough, we rarely see the
latter. One of the few stories that do show Roman Catholic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As the Wife explains, she used her sexual power to dominate her husbands. In an essay put out
by Portland state University, it says that In the Middle Ages, many members of the Church
began to see sex and lust as a sin created by The Fall. This is further shown in Scripture itself in
many places, one of them being 2 Corinthians 12:21: I am afraid that when I come again my God
will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not
repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. 2 Corinthians
12:21
Another, shorter verse, would be Ephesians 5: 3: But among you there must not be even a hint of
sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God s holy
people. Ephesians 5:3
The Wife of Bath, though she was of the Roman Catholic Church herself, went against this. Her
argument in justifying herself is simply this: there are plenty of people in the Bible that used their
sexual power to dominate others, such as David, Solomon, and many others. If they could do it,
why couldn t she? Giving such an argument, she twists the very Scripture that the Church teaches.
The question then is, if she was in the Catholic Church, why was she allowed to continue with her
sexual dealings? With this character, Chaucer hints at a small corruption in the Church, that there
were people who as members of it, were allowed to live in horrid sins

Feeling Sympathy for Malvolio Essay
Feeling Sympathy for Malvolio
Malvolio plays the role of Olivia s self admiring butler. He takes advantage of his position in the
house to abuse of those lower ranked in the house than him. These people are Sir Toby, Maria and
Fabian, (Sir Andrew doesn t work in the house). These people have got fed up of this and decide to
get their own back throughout the play. The dispute is that may be they went too far.
Malvolio is smart in appearance and well dressed. Apart from this, Malvolio is pompous, vane,
arrogant and has a lack of forgiveness.
Malvolio s first entrance is in 1.5 l.2 and his first line of speech is in 67. If acted and spoken well it
gives you a really strong idea of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tells Cesario not to come back to eliminate him as competition by saying Olivia doesn t want
Cesario:
She returns the ring to you. You might have saved me my pains to have taken it away yourself.
She adds, moreover, that you should put your lord into a desperate assurance: she will none of
him. And one thing more, that you be never so hardy to come again in his affairs, unless it be to
report your lord s taking of this. Receive it so.
2.2 l.4 9
The text above which is in bold is the bit I think that Malvolio added to get Cesario to back off
and never come back. The rest he says I think he is trying to say, Your peevish attempt to get my
lady to love you hasn t worked, she has rejected you. A few lines after Malvolio drops the ring on
the floor and walks off. This, in my opinion, is a very arrogant and horrible way to leave. It s like
after insulting someone, spitting on them and then walking off. At this part of the play I thought
Malvolio was the most horrible person on the planet and I would have no sympathy at all for him
if he was put in a cage and bound up. I would laugh at him and say, Have a taste of your own
medicine.
Later on in act 2.3 Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Feste and Maria are having a party in the middle of the
night.

Persuasive Essay On Home Ownership
The American dream is a phrase which evokes a different meaning depending on whom you ask.
However, there are some similar concepts that run throughout most interpretations. Most
Americans envision being able to live a happy life if they work hard enough. This would most
likely include a stable income, fulfilling career, and a place to live. In recent years, I believe the
thought of an ideal living situation has evolved. As living costs continue to increase, many
Millennials are finding it harder to move out on their own and be able to support themselves. The
vision of a big house with a white picket fenceis no longer the ultimate goal, because many young
people just don t find it realistic in today s economy. Home ownership is a big deal and comes
along with many advantages and freedoms. Being able to own propertyunder your own name is a
privilege that not everybody gets. Having a house eliminates many hassles that renters face on a
daily basis. Dealing with annoying roommates, tight living quarters, and landlords are no longer
a concern once you move into your own house. You have your own privacy and space to call
your own and decorate as you want. Many people view buying a house as a superior choice,
because it is an asset and goes up in value over the years. On the contrary, when you rent, you are
paying monthly just to live in a space that belongs to someone else. Owning your own home also
comes with some cons, as does everything else. There are many more

Cultural Awareness and a Global Mindset Management in Practice is a very special module for
me because it provides me a chance to study with international friends and study in a diverse
environment. After studying for two semesters, I have gradually established cultural awareness
and a global mindset which are extremely important when I graduate and start working. In today
s modern society we have to work with people from diverse background such as personality,
nationality and culture thus it is essential to understand these differences and Belbin test is very
helpful in this situation. Knowing your Belbin s team roles and others make it a lot easier to get

which consisting of verbal, numerical and diagrammatic reasoning tests (practiceaptitudetests). It
is very crucial when applying for jobs. Apart from making me know myself, this module allowed
me to be a leader as a coordinator of a group. According to Bennis (1989), ...leaders do not seek to

What Are Iago s Evil Deeds
In Shakespeare s tragedy Othello, the antagonist Iago serves as a wicked puppeteer, manipulating
the strings of each involved character. His spite and cruelty leads to the tragic downfall of not
Othello, Desdamona, Rodrigo, and himself. He looked down on others, especially women, and
shaped himself into a cloaked figure who pulled strings for his own gain. Iagoproves that when ill
will and means to spread it come into contact, misery will follow. Iago is a spiteful, manipulative,
and cunning tactician who nearly found a means to reach an end that suited him. He sounds like a
monster, yet Iago may be the most human of all the characters. Iago s spite opens a Pandora s
Chest brimming with the world s evils; if we look back to the beginning of the play, his motives
were to punish Othellofor awarding the position of lieutenant to Michael Cassioand not himself. We
can prove this with a quote, told in a malicious tone: I have already chose my officer. And what
was he? ...Michael Cassio... that never set a squadron in the field, nor the division of battle knows...

He devises a plan, one he could only pull it off were he manipulative and had the spite to see

own misguided conclusions. I told him what I thought, and told no more than what he himself
was apt and true. (5, 2, 3513 3514). Iago explains that the entire time, he told Othello fabricated
truths in order to make the Moor draw misaligned conclusions. Iago s only true crime the entire
time was stabbing Cassio; had he not done so, there would be little to charge him with. He told
Othello truths and opinions, yet no lies left his lips. Iago s dastardly plan nearly

Each float is crafted differently that no float looks the same as the other. Floats travel slow
because of the weight of the flowers and the frame to hold the flowers, but beyond that is the
reason that each float flaunts the beauty and intricacy of the art. With this unhurried pace,
everyone has the chance to take a photo with the float utilizing the front cameras of the

Fluoride Conspiracy By Laurie Higgs
Fluoride has been used by people for many decades. The most common use is in toothpaste.
Fluoride was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works
by protecting the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking
water. It was added to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating
whether or not this is truly safe. In the essay, The FluorideConspiracy , by Laurie Higgs, she talks
about the use of fluoride drinking waters and dangers it brings by using logos, pathos, and ethos.
Higgs explains in her essay that the use of fluoride has been used in water for some time now
and that it is used to help prevent tooth decay as stated in her citations. She further explains that
when brushing ones teeth and swallows an x amount of toothpaste that that one should called
poison control, so why would one be able to drink it? About sixty percent of homes contain
fluoride added water and an average person is suppose to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water
each day, while the amount of fluoride in each glass contains more than twice the amount (to be

Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The essay
says that hypothyroidism can lead to depression, fatigue, weight gain, muscle and joint pains,
increased cholesterol levels and heart disease (as qtd. in Higgs par.5). The author uses human

Qing made slight changes to Ming culture when they conquered China in 1644. Allowing for more

To stay united as one the Qing Dynasty adopted the Ming Dynasty political system in order for
them to stay strong. Although they adopted the Ming government platform they still made slight
changes in the government that would suit their dynasty. The Ming dynasty ran by Emperor

Essay about The Death Railway of World War II
Abstract
The saying of, Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it is one that deserves more focus.
One might ask, Why? The answer is the fact that countless events in history have been overlooked
and forgotten. Such is the case of the Thai Burma Railway also known as the Death Railway , a
line between Bang Pong and Thanbyuzayat. This, in and of itself is a tragedy. The inhuman
conditions of thousands of POW s as they labored in the Thai Burma jungle during World War II is
something that should never be forgotten. Those who survived and those who did not deserve
commendation for their strength, and reverence as heroes. Thus, why does no one know their story,

What was to be done with them? In the eyes of the Japanese, they were a disgrace to mankind. A
Japanese man would rather die than be humiliated with the charge of giving up. They were taught
to never surrender and fight until death for their Emperor (Lee, 1998).
This concept baffled the Japanese. The idea of prisoners had not occurred to them. These men
were dishonorable, and the thought of feeding and taking care of the dishonorable repulsed the
Japanese (Pitt Mason, 1993). For a while, the issue was not dealt with, and the POW s were left
alone. Unfortunately, that was not to be their permanent state of being. Soon, an inspiration gave
light to the issue. The Japanese discovered they held in their hands a free work force. In these
dishonorable men, lay the path to accomplishing the new goals being set for a nation at war (La
Forte Marcello, 1993).
The Death Railway was one of these new goals . Its intent was to join two pre existing railroads;
one, running from Singapore to Ban Pong and Bangkok, the other from Ye on the Andaman coast
to Rangoon. The plan was to unite these two railroads by building a line from Ban Pong to
Thanbyuzayat, a small village 50 miles north of Ye (La Forte Marcello, 1993).
The Railway had three major purposes and desirable attributes for Japan. First, the Railway was to
provide supplies and reinforcements as Japan was fighting the British in northern Burma at the
time. The Japanese were also

Nowhere in the country is he more popular than in Seattle, where he is considered the savior of

Chromatin Case Study Essay
Lessons Learned Chromatin Eric Lee January 21, 2015 Chromatin made a pivot from a pure
biotechnology company to a mixed model that combines both biotechnology and traditional
breeding pipelines. Thinking broadly (not just Chromatin), what challenges and opportunities does
making a strategic pivot present for an entrepreneurial company? The decision to pivot from a
biotechnology company to a more vertically integrated seed company was likely one of the most
important decisions in the history of Chromatin. By inserting itself into the multi billion dollar
market for sorghum, the company vastly increased its potential for profit. However, the leaders of
Chromatin certainly did not take the decision likely. As Prof. Copenhaver outlined in his January 14
lecture, a vast number of factors needed to be taken into account before transitioning into
Chromatin s current business model. In the case of scientific ventures, operating as part of a
university offers an array of benefits: they can rely on its well maintained laboratories, its legal and
bureaucratic expertise, and its established relationships with insurers, bankers, and licensing
agencies. However, in order to use these services, scientific entrepreneurs must give a portion of
their equity to the university, which can diminish the profitability and... Show more content on

Copenhaver and the leadership of Chromatin evidently felt that the company was capable of
functioning without university resources. Although the pivot presented numerous new
organizational issues, personnel changes, and procedural learning curves (essentially making

transition. Looking back, Chromatin s transition represents a successfully executed strategic pivot;
it considerably broadened the scope of the company s capabilities and redefined its target market, all

James Farmer, 19
James Farmer was one of the Big Four of the civil rights movement era of the nineteen hundreds,
he called for racial harmony through non violence. James Farmer helped shape civil rights

The Beauty Myth, By Naomi Wolf
THE TRUTH BEHIND BEAUTY
As a woman, have you ever faced a mirror, gazed at your reflection and scrutinized the craters on
your face, the excess flab in your stomach, the scars on your legs? Did you recognize yourself, or
did your reflection show you a stranger a monster? Did you turn green in jealousy when you turned
the television on or rummaged through the magazines glossy pages as you stared at the flawless
and picture perfect models?
On the other hand, if you are a man, have you ever fixed your eyes longingly to some lady and
mumbled to yourself, Wow, she is beautiful ?
Women of today are fortunate because they are recognized and are more powerful compared to
what they have to go through years ago. They are empowered and successful because they fought
for their rights. However, writer and feminist Naomi Wolf, author of The Beauty Myth: How Images
of Beauty Are Used Against Women, is troubled. Her nonfiction book states that as women gain

Lord of the Flies illustrates man s capability of evil which is revealed by acts of savagery by the
boys on the island. Nature of evil is developed throughout the story by contrasting the characters.
Jack, in particular, represents violence and evil. He is manipulative and power hungry, and his
personality is contrasted with Simon and Piggy s personalities. Simon embodies good while
Piggy represents rationalism. The idea of having both good and evil characters provokes the

The Causes And Historical Origins Of The Gulag Archipelago
Most of books especially those written by survivors about the experience of holocaust have
mainly two purposes. The first one is to record the full horror of the historical crimes such as
holocaust, labor forced camps, and etc. The second one is detailed explanation and description of
the causes and historical origins of that experience. The GulagArchipelago is a three volume non
fictional book written by a famous Russian historian, novelist, story writer, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
between 1958 and 1968; however, it was published in 1973 in the West. His book is about the
USSR s forced labor camp system, which is another great holocaust in the history of humanity
and its narrative relies on the eyewitness testimonies such as evidence from more than 200 fellow
prisoners, his own captivity and exile experiences when he served as a prisoner in one of Gulag
labor camps, and other primary research material, mostly during Stalin s rule from 1929 to 1953.
One of the main sources is the eyewitness testimonies of 227 other survivors related to
Solzhenitsyn. The author has recreated the history between the 1918 and 1956. Archipelago refers

George Washington Code Of Honor Essay
George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of
respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes.
When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said
because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made
him a successful general and an even more successful President of the United States.
On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington
inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). Not part of the

including stars, asteroids, nebulas, and black holes. One of the rarest interstellar creations are black
holes, of which are only found in three forms. These three forms include stellar, supermassive, and

They are scattered throughout the galaxies. A stellar black hole is the product of the death of a
giant star such as a pulsar or a neutron star. Black holes in general are very rare because most
stars are not massive enough to create them. When a star stops producing fusion energy, the
equilibrium of the star no longer exists. Without the star producing any fuel, there is no pressure
created that can hold the star in place. The pressure that a star creates is used to prevent the
gravity from crushing the core. Now that there is no pressure pushing outward, the gravity
becomes so violent that it crushes matter to the point that it is completely destroyed. At this
point, black holes are born. Black holes are created in rare occasions. During the death of most
stars, they slowly dim out or explode into trillions of microscopic particles. For example, the sun,
which is a red dwarf, will slowly die out. Eta Carinae on the other hand, located 8,000 light years

Liberal Election Victory Of 1906 Essay
The Reasons for the Liberal Election Victory of 1906
The Liberal election victory of 1906 was due to key issues that the Liberals manipulated to their
favour whereas the exhausted Conservatives barely defended their actions. This election victory
was on the back of Unionist dominance that had spanned a decade driven by three key issues: the
crown, the church and the constitution. After the Second Boer Warin South Africa, everything
began to go wrong for the Unionists who then found their own leader, Balfour, losing his seat in his
own constituency of Blackpool.
The key areas of victory are the Tory blunders and the Liberal successes. The decline of the
Unionists seemed to begin after the 1900 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The public would now see the Unionist government as not being able to cope with the situation in
South Africa and therefore they would think that they wouldn t be able to cope with the situation at
home.
Combined with this was the strength of the Liberal party. In these difficult times, the Liberals
readily attacked the Unionists and it appeared to the British public that they had the moral high
ground. It was Campbell Bannerman and Lloyd George especially who attacked the Unionists
on every issue that they were weak on and the Boer War was a good example of this. They were
excellent campaigners and orators. Lloyd George, as it can be seen on the video, was good at
rallying crowds and was good at gaining supports in key areas such as Lincolnshire and London,
where their votes increased dramatically up to 15%. The Liberals were very well organized.
Instead of trying to get a huge majority in already Liberal strongholds they expanded out to areas
where they were weaker. The British public would be able to see the strength of the Liberal
candidates compared to the lackluster Unionist candidates and this would perhaps persuade them
to vote for the Liberals ahead of the Unionists. This upped their overall average and this was
therefore a major factor for their victory.
Another key area where the Tories were weak was the economy.

have no factual evidence of her presence there. I question if the person seen just looked familiar? Or
was there confirmation on her identity that I am unaware about? The questions only continue from
not only Earhart but also the location and the actions that were considered to be going on there.
Amelia Earhart s disappearance remains unsolved and will continue this trend if investigations and
research aren t conducted. Others that have analyzed and developed their own conspiracy theories.
Some say that the government was planning on Earhart s mission failing and that they didn t want a
woman breaking another record. This was a huge advancement, that society might not have been

Popcorn During The Great Depression
The Encyclopedia Popcornica, put together by The Popcorn Board, has a great deal of
information all about popcorn. Their discoveries found that the corn used to make popcorn has
been around for 4,000 years. Popcorn was very popular in the 1890s until the Great Depression.
During this time street vendors would walk around with their poppers through parks, fairs, and
expositions. Popcorn during the Great Depression was a real treat and one of the few things that
families could afford. This was the time for popcorn to take off with business because it was cheap
and other businesses could not stay open. Unfortunately, when the television came around many
people stopped going to the movies, which causes sales in popcorn to decrease as well until... Show

Matured popcorn kernels are made up of protein, oils, and carbohydrates. The percentage of each
of these components varies from kernel to kernel based on its genetics and growing environment.
Compared to normal corn, popcorn typically has similar starch and oil contents but higher protein
content. Also, the starch found in popcorn tends to have lower gelatinization temperatures, peak
temperatures, and pasting temperatures than normal corn starch. All of these differences allow the
popcorn to pop to 30 times the volume of the original kernel (Sweley, Rose, Jackson, 2013). These
percentages also vary depend on how the kernel is

Anthrax Case Study
Bioterrorism threat such as anthrax infection is technically and fundamentally different from other
potential attacks like nuclear, explosives, or chemical weapons. Considering the nature of
bioweapons, it requires a different strategy of preparations that will prepare and comfort individuals
in the location (Jaton Greub, 2014). Meaning full progress regarding the threat will range from
understanding the disease context to adhering to community beliefs that guide their faith in case of
any life threatening circumstances. This paper discusses the relevant actions that will respond to
the attacks in regard to faith of the Jewish community and the regulation that prevail in the heath
domain.
Jews believe that God assists those who assist themselves, and so should look for alternative
measures to curb potential threats (The Hallowed Path, 2011). In this case, the Jews will strive
hard to acquire a cell free anthrax vaccine. There are no doubts that Anthrax vaccine exists in small
quantity and are only available for military individuals. The healthcare personnel will, therefore,
collaborate with state and local health departments to avail the immunization or opt for oral
preventive measures that are readily available such as ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, or
levofloxacin (Bower et al., 2015). The action will comfort the depressive encounter since they will

Four Key Theories Of Organisational Culture
Organisational culture is the shared values, beliefs, assumptions and morals which govern the
behaviour of people in an organisation. This paper is focused on providing insight on four key
theories of organisational culture and the analysis on the differences and similarities exists between
the theories. This paper also aims at elaborating the importance and usefulness of these theories for
individuals and line managers.
Organisation Culture
Organisational Culture refers to a system where the employees of an organisation share same
assumptions, values, beliefs and certain practices (Lee, et al., 2008).These shared values bears
important implications on the employees as they provide guidelines for dressing, individual attitude
and actions that are related to their job performances. Every organisation maintains and builds its
own culture in order to provide guidelines to its employees for their behaviour and for maintaining
and sustaining status quo (Milne, 2007).
Analysis of the Theories
Researchers have adopted various frameworks to define the organisational cultures. The models
that have been developed by some researchers to describe various indicators of organisational
culture are as follows. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Karl Marx, A German Philosopher And...
Karl Marx, a German philosopher and economist born in 1818, had a profound impact on and
revolutionised politics, economics and intellectual thought (Calhoun, 2002, pp. 23 24) when he
emerged as a revolutionary thinker who denounced the economic and political elites (the
Bourgeoisie) and argued Communism was the inevitable destination for society. His abstract view
of human history led many to adopt his ideas and led to the formation of self declared Communist
states across four continents. Stalin was a far more divisive figure. He could be seen as a power
hungry, egotistical dictator who was apathetic towards the suffering of his own people, or the
pragmatic statesman who effectively translated Marxisminto a political system, which adopted the
core principles but not the unnecessary elements of Marxism deemed too Utopian or in other
words, unattainable.
What first must be down before addressing the question is set out what Marxism actually was. The
ten planks of the Communist Manifesto were as follows: the abolition of private property in land
and the utilisation of all rent for public purposes, a heavy progressive or graduated income tax,
abolition of all rights of inheritance to ensure equality of opportunity, confiscation of the property
of all emigrants and rebels, centralisation of credit in the hands of the State by means of a national
bank with an exclusive monopoly, centralisation of communication and transport in the hands of the
state, extension of

Ideological Bias
Many researchers have attempted to determine whether the media in the United States has an
ideological bias; however, the topic is still up for debate and is likely to stay that way because
the answer lies under a huge never ending pile of data that takes a lot longer than a week to
collect. Learning about the ideological bias that is or is not present in American media is important
in understanding the impact that the news has on people and policy change. In the report evidence
has been collected during a week long content analysis of two prominent national news outlets that
does little to support the idea that media has an ideological bias, rather it provides information that
may prove the opposite, that the media s ideological bias is exaggerated and possibly non existent.
The small data set demonstrates significance; however, further research is necessary.
Throughout the course of Mass Media and Politics we have learned about how the news is made,
who makes the news, why certain things are news, and how the news impacts the public. One
underlying question that remains is about the bias that the news presents or if there is a bias at all.
The debate about the bias in national news is a pressing one that many may not be aware of;
however, its importance is crucial to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Los Angeles Times tends to cover issues that are more social while the Washington Post is
known for more thorough coverage of political topics, at least that was my initial expectation. On
opposite sides of the country, these news outlets may have different geography and choices in

terms of age and gender. There is an obvious discrepancy with household income and based on

The Importance Of Professional Development
Engaging teachers in a learning community, fosters professional growth by developing relationships
among peers (Schramm, 2006). Learning communities provide professional development that is
implemented to improve the learning of students and professionalism of teachers. Teachers within
learning communities are organized in order to collaborate on addressing goals that are aligned
with expected school and district outcomes. Effective leadership is a key factor in effective
implementation of professional development within a school (Schramm, 2006). In order to
maximize the benefits of professional development opportunities, school leaders need to provide
staff development that is focused on improving the learning of students. Focused professional
development requires skillful school leaders who are knowledgeable and capable of guiding
teachers and the school in continuous instructional improvement. Providing teachers with access to
resources that support the strategies learned during professional development is imperative for
effective implementation (Schramm, 2006). Increasing teacher exposure to educational resources,
benefits both the teacher and the student. However, in order for resources to adequately meet the
need of the teacher and student, professional development must be provided on effective use and
implementation. Professional development that provides teachers with the tools and knowledge to
effectively use data is necessary for improving student outcomes

Their father would often get both of them engaged in discussions concerning cases observed in the court and promoted the need to debate their case. Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells in the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension. Also known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly of a very vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise healthy babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital heart defects. Functional outcomes, thanks to contemporary medical advances, are generally successful. As medical professionals, nurses play a significant role in helping patients achieve therapeutic goals. Therapeutic goals also include a level of psychological wellness in living with persistent bowel dysfunction after Hirschsprung surgery but few, if any, studies have addressed this likelihood. Focusing on the results after definitive surgical repair of Hirschsprung disease, the journal article, An example of psychological adjustment in chronic illness: Hirschsprung s disease by Athanasakos, Starling, Ross, Nunn, and Cass, identifies outcomes in terms of psychiatric health. • 7. Chaucer And The Roman Catholic Church Chaucer and the Roman Catholic Church In the years of the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church reigned. It not only influenced people s lives, but in some ways led them. From what they believed, how they treated women, how they worked, and how they prayed, the Roman Catholic Church obviously had a large influence. We know this today by simply reading the reading the literature from that period, whether it is simple poems like Beowulf or Dream of the Rood, or bigger stories such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. These stories are riddled with Catholic teachings and mentions, whether they re brought up in a good light, or a negative one. Oddly enough, we rarely see the latter. In an essay put out by Portland state University, it says that In the Middle Ages, many members of the Church began to see sex and lust as a sin created by The Fall. This is further shown in Scripture itself in many places, one of them being 2 Corinthians 12:21: I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged. 2 Corinthians 12:21 Another, shorter verse, would be Ephesians 5: 3: But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God s holy people. Ephesians 5:3 The Wife of Bath, though she was of the Roman Catholic Church herself, went against this. Her argument in justifying herself is simply this: there are plenty of people in the Bible that used their sexual power to dominate others, such as David, Solomon, and many others. If they could do it, why couldn t she? Giving such an argument, she twists the very Scripture that the Church teaches. The question then is, if she was in the Catholic Church, why was she allowed to continue with her sexual dealings? With this character, Chaucer hints at a small corruption in the Church, that there were people who as members of it, were allowed to live in horrid sins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Home Ownership The American dream is a phrase which evokes a different meaning depending on whom you ask. However, there are some similar concepts that run throughout most interpretations. Most Americans envision being able to live a happy life if they work hard enough. This would most likely include a stable income, fulfilling career, and a place to live. In recent years, I believe the thought of an ideal living situation has evolved. As living costs continue to increase, many Millennials are finding it harder to move out on their own and be able to support themselves. The vision of a big house with a white picket fenceis no longer the ultimate goal, because many young people just don t find it realistic in today s economy. Home ownership is a big deal and comes along with many advantages and freedoms. Being able to own propertyunder your own name is a privilege that not everybody gets. Having a house eliminates many hassles that renters face on a daily basis. Dealing with annoying roommates, tight living quarters, and landlords are no longer a concern once you move into your own house. You have your own privacy and space to call your own and decorate as you want. Many people view buying a house as a superior choice, because it is an asset and goes up in value over the years. On the contrary, when you rent, you are paying monthly just to live in a space that belongs to someone else. Owning your own home also comes with some cons, as does everything else. In almost 150 years baseball history, only the great Willie Mays can match Ken Griffey Jr. in these statistical categories. However, despite these extraordinary stats, Ken Griffey Jr. may be the ultimate What Could Have Been player. An incredibly promising career was derailed in the latter half by chronic injuries that robbed him of hundreds of games. If not for these injuries, Griffey was well on his way to becoming the Home RunKing (Stark, 2010) and possibly the greatest player ever. Chromatin Case Study Essay Lessons Learned Chromatin Eric Lee January 21, 2015 Chromatin made a pivot from a pure biotechnology company to a mixed model that combines both biotechnology and traditional breeding pipelines. Thinking broadly (not just Chromatin), what challenges and opportunities does making a strategic pivot present for an entrepreneurial company? The decision to pivot from a biotechnology company to a more vertically integrated seed company was likely one of the most important decisions in the history of Chromatin. By inserting itself into the multi billion dollar market for sorghum, the company vastly increased its potential for profit. However, the leaders of Chromatin certainly did not take the decision likely. As Prof. Copenhaver outlined in his January 14 lecture, a vast number of factors needed to be taken into account before transitioning into Chromatin s current business model. In the case of scientific ventures, operating as part of a university offers an array of benefits: they can rely on its well maintained laboratories, its legal and bureaucratic expertise, and its established relationships with insurers, bankers, and licensing agencies. Black holes in general are very rare because most stars are not massive enough to create them. When a star stops producing fusion energy, the equilibrium of the star no longer exists. Without the star producing any fuel, there is no pressure created that can hold the star in place. The pressure that a star creates is used to prevent the gravity from crushing the core. It was Campbell Bannerman and Lloyd George especially who attacked the Unionists on every issue that they were weak on and the Boer War was a good example of this. They were excellent campaigners and orators. Lloyd George, as it can be seen on the video, was good at rallying crowds and was good at gaining supports in key areas such as Lincolnshire and London, where their votes increased dramatically up to 15%. The Liberals were very well organized. Instead of trying to get a huge majority in already Liberal strongholds they expanded out to areas where they were weaker. • 45. A Brief Note On Karl Marx, A German Philosopher And... Karl Marx, a German philosopher and economist born in 1818, had a profound impact on and revolutionised politics, economics and intellectual thought (Calhoun, 2002, pp. 23 24) when he emerged as a revolutionary thinker who denounced the economic and political elites (the Bourgeoisie) and argued Communism was the inevitable destination for society. His abstract view of human history led many to adopt his ideas and led to the formation of self declared Communist states across four continents. Stalin was a far more divisive figure. He could be seen as a power hungry, egotistical dictator who was apathetic towards the suffering of his own people, or the pragmatic statesman who effectively translated Marxisminto a political system, which adopted the core principles but not the unnecessary elements of Marxism deemed too Utopian or in other words, unattainable. What first must be down before addressing the question is set out what Marxism actually was. The ten planks of the Communist Manifesto were as follows: the abolition of private property in land and the utilisation of all rent for public purposes, a heavy progressive or graduated income tax, abolition of all rights of inheritance to ensure equality of opportunity, confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels, centralisation of credit in the hands of the State by means of a national bank with an exclusive monopoly, centralisation of communication and transport in the hands of the state, extension of ... • 46. Ideological Bias Many researchers have attempted to determine whether the media in the United States has an ideological bias; however, the topic is still up for debate and is likely to stay that way because the answer lies under a huge never ending pile of data that takes a lot longer than a week to collect. Learning about the ideological bias that is or is not present in American media is important in understanding the impact that the news has on people and policy change. In the report evidence has been collected during a week long content analysis of two prominent national news outlets that does little to support the idea that media has an ideological bias, rather it provides information that may prove the opposite, that the media s ideological bias is exaggerated and possibly non existent. The small data set demonstrates significance; however, further research is necessary. Throughout the course of Mass Media and Politics we have learned about how the news is made, who makes the news, why certain things are news, and how the news impacts the public. One underlying question that remains is about the bias that the news presents or if there is a bias at all. The debate about the bias in national news is a pressing one that many may not be aware of; however, its importance is crucial to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
