The Pros And Cons Of Being A Registered Nurse
What exactly is a nurse? A nurse covers a lot of ground in a day, but is always there when you re
in need. Nursing is a selfless profession. It is a career where they give special assistance to
patients in areas related to their expertise. Not only do they affect the patient, but also the lives of
their families and friends.
A registered nurse is one of the many types of nurses. To be a registered nurse, you have to have
at least a bachelor of science degree in nursing and pass the NCLEX RN certification program.
Some of the colleges in Arkansas that offer a registered nursing program are: University of Central
Arkansas (UCA), Arkansas State University Jonesboro, and Arkansas Tech University. The average

The Case Of State V. Evans
In the case of State v, Evans, he was a stalker who stalked Arnold. In the case their was a couple
of incidences where he raned into her on purpose, so he was charged with stalking . In the case I
will give the facts, issues, and court holding.
Facts
Evans a photographer with a foot fetish ask Arnold a young nursing student to could he take
pictures of her feet. Evans told Arnold that he took pictures for a New York magazine and he
helped other women become models. Arnold decline evans offer, and after that it kept being
incident where he called or bumped into Arnold. On the second incident, he called Arnold house
and left a message with her father in 1989. Also, he called again and the father told him not to
call anymore. In 2000 Evans spotted Arnold in a drugstore parking lot, and he asked her agak
could he take pictures of her feet. Evan made a derogatory statement by stating he would like her
legs bare and apart. This upset Arnold, and she answered no. Arnold runned out the store. On
August 7, 2001 Evans called and left a message with Arnold s Mother, but Arnold did not return
the message worried he would find out where she lived. Arnold later called police , and he was
charged with harassment. The harassment charges did not stick because the jury did not find him
guilty. Another incident happened, on August 31, 2001 Evans came by Arnold house and ask her
if she wanted to be in a picture he was producing about Dred Scott, and Arnold told him he was a
weird guy. Even

Complications and Prevalence of Diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic disease where in there is high sugar level in blood either due to insufficient
insulin production or to the inability of cells to respond to insulin. Diabetes can cause a lot of long
term complications that affect different parts of the body. It can cause eye complications such as
glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and blindness. Foot complications that can lead to
amputation can also result from uncontrolled diabetes. Skin infections and disorders are more
common to people with diabetes. It also causes heart problems, ischemia, stroke, kidney failure,
and nerve damage. Diabetes during pregnancy can also cause birth defects (Nordqvist, 2010).

The most studied plant families for their hypoglycemic effects are Leguminoseae, Araliaceae,
Liliaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Moraceae, Asteracea, Rosaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and Lamiaceae
(Chauhan, 2010). Bioactive drugs isolated from different plants having hypoglycemic effects
showed antidiabetic activity. Most of these plants are more potent than known synthetic oral
hypoglycemic agents (Chauhan, 2010). Therefore, herbal plants have potential hypoglycemic
activity that should be studied in order to produce diabetes drugs that are safe, economical, and
effective. Gynura Procumbens Gynura procumbens (Lour.) Merr. belongs to the family
Asteraceae. It is locally known as Sambung Nyawa or Sabungai. It is an evergreen shrub with
medicinal properties widely distributed in South East Asia. The leaves of Gynura procumbens are
ovate elliptic or lanceolate. Leaf size ranges from 3.5 to 8 cm long and 0.8 to 3.5 cm wide. The
flowering heads are panicled, narrow, yellow, and 1 to 1.5 cm long (Sekar, 2014). It has been used
by rural communities in Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippines to treat various ailments including
diabetes. This plant is reported to be useful for hypertension, anti inflammation, anti herpes simplex
virus, prevention of rheumatism, and treatment of eruptive fevers, kidney troubles, colon cancer,
hemorrhoids and diabetes. The leaves of this

George Miller s Mad Max Franchise
Mad Max: Road Fury has been consider one of the best movies of the summer. It is the fourth
installation in George Miller s Mad Max franchise. The most interesting thing about this release,
however, is that although it is the fourth movie of the series, it come almost thirty years after the
release of the last movie in the franchise. The development, financing, and eventual production of
Fury Road is incredibly interesting because although almost everything went wrong, it still
became a successful movie, both critically and in the box office. A decade after the release of the
third installment of the Mad Max franchise, Beyond the Thunderdome, Warner Bros. began to
develop a Mad Max TV show. However, at the time, the 90s, a TV show that violent would never
have been aired, and as such, they began to focus on a fourth Mad Max movie, set for the late
90s. (Meslow) In 2001, 9/11 derailed the movie for financial reasons. In Miller s own words,
Everything closed down, shipping closed down, insurance closed down and most of all the
American dollar collapsed by about 25% within a few weeks. Additionally, the studio decided
that such bleak times called for happier movies, because of this, Miller decided to work on
Happy Feet instead. (Bravin) By 2003, the Mad Max movie was set to begin filming in Namibia.
However, the location was determined to be a security risk, causing it to be delayed once again. By
2006, Mel Gibson began to distance himself from the movie, thinking that it

Soteriology
Soteriology The Doctrine of Salvation and Discipleship Sirs, what must I do to be saved? No
question is more important or more debated than this one presented by the Philippian jailer in Acts
16:30. The answer to this important question is found in the basic aspects of the faith. This is why
the doctrine of salvationis so important. No doctrine of the faith is more fundamental than this
doctrine. The essence of the gospel message is that God has achieved eternal salvation for all who
will receive JesusChrist as Lord and Savior, believing that He died on the cross of Calvary as the
sin bearer of the world. Salvation was accomplished for men by the substitutionary atonement of
Jesus Christ. This is what we call Soteriology , or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan of salvation required the sacrifice of a perfect representative to mankind, providing the
atonement of the whole humanity s sin and appeasing God s wrath. Such representative was to
be a pure and perfect human being with no relationship to sin. Since the whole mankind have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23), no human was capable to perform such
duty. He who was to be our Mediator should be very God and very man. Thus, it was necessary
for the Son of God to become our Emmanuel, the God with us in the human form of Jesus. Paul
demonstrates this truth when he set forth Christ as the Mediator and distinctly declares Jesus to
be man ( one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus 1st Timothy 2:5). The
suffering of the Savior accomplished many things. Jesus was sacrificed in our place to make us
righteous before God (Substitution 2nd Cor. 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, Galatians 3:13; Isaiah 53:6).
Also, God Himself paid as a ransom the price of human sin and purchased sinners to Himself
through the death of Christ (Redemption 1 Peter 1:18 19). Furthermore, God satisfied His own
righteousness and His own wrath in Jesus sacrifice (Propitiation Romans 3:25 26; 1 John 2:2 and
4:10). Jesus also positioned men back on friendly terms with God and now we are no longer under
the supervision of the law (Reconciliation

The Social Problem Of The Video Separate And Unequal Is...
The social problem shown in the video Separate and Unequal is poverty and racism. This video
focuses specifically on Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and
some of the student s experiences and difficulties in this school due to poverty in this town.
Jackson Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High Schoolis 100% black students. Everything started
to go downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and
went to a more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jacksondue to
how run down the community and school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel
is a student at Lanier High School. He does not have a father figure and his mother is not in
good condition due to her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his
grades and authority from the teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with
his coach because he is not used to male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up
failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets with his buddies and his mom is very worried he ll
end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime example of how poverty in his family and
community affect him directly. Alicia is a teen mom at Lanier High School. She is raising her
baby with the help of her mother because the father is in jail. She struggles in school due to

Touch Reaction Times
Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times
Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018
Introduction:
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using
different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body.
When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to
recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which
your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is
carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018).
There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally
visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the
fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli
was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an
average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest
reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176
seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006
seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the
slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was
the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When
gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the
movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals
were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment
could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was
most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also,
test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in
the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to
several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test
subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment could have been
improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global and

I Am A Liberal Conservative Is More Open Minded Than Some...
I am a Liberal. A Liberal is more open minded than some other political ideologies. They believe
we should all be equal and have the same opportunities in life. The government should help us so
we can all be financially stable. Things like health care and food stamps are important because
the government should help all of us, if we cannot do that for ourselves. Although liberals want
help from the government they don t believe they should control what we do in our personal
lives. They are very big advocators for women s rights for this reason. Focusing on actual
government, a big belief is that federal government should have more say over citizens instead of
letting state government have control over what we do. Along with having laws they believe
more laws will help us. It is a way to keep people in line and provide equal opportunity for
everyone. I identify as a liberalbut I don t hold all the same beliefs as the typical liberals. I come
from a big Hispanic Catholic family; I am one of five children. Growing up I would stay with
my grandmother most weekends because my house was always so hectic. I obviously was taken
to church every Sunday with her, where we would meet with the rest of my family. I would attend
my Communion classes before we went to mass. I remember my teachers always telling us how
loving and accepting God is. We would sing and color all through class, everything just seemed
perfect. When the priest would preach during mass he would say how forgiving

Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium
INTRODUCTION
Photography is a culture, not just a medium. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an
explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a
shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations
and comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality.
There is no one meaning in a photograph. The intrinsically challenging task was to provide points
of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing counter
narratives and alternative readings to exist.
THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS
Working with an established collection like The University of AucklandArt Collection, curators
need to work creatively in order to produce an exhibition that is both innovative and adequately
represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140
photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range
to choose from, we approached the task in a practical way. We initially surveyed the works and
found a broad theme emerging images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations
housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the
venue in time, and from these, we selected a more specific theme.
The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and

Summary Of The Histroy Of Hoovervilles
The three excerpts, separately written by Janet Hutchison, Gail Radford, and Kenneth Jackson,
altogether describe the progression of the United States housing system, and the contexts
surrounding it, through the first half of the 20th century. Hutchison argues that the efforts of
Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United Statesas well as a former Secretary of Commerce,
in reforming the housing policy are largely overlooked, partly because his name evokes the image
of Hoovervilles ; however, under his leadership, the suburban ideal, a whimsical notion that
permeated nationwide during the interwar period, became an integral aspect of the American
identity, and this in turn helped the subsequent leaderships cement federal programs that

A Brief History of the Berlin Wall Essay
The Berlin Wall
Walls are one of man s oldest defenses; physical barriers that are erected to keep people out, or,
in some cases, to keep them in. Walls are physical fortifications that create tension and distain
among people on both sides. This is what the Berlin Wall, or der Mauer in German, was; a
physical barrier created in Berlin, Germany during the Cold War. It was created by the East
Germans in an attempt to stop East German citizens from immigrating to Western Germany.
However, the Berlin wall was a crude attempt to separate the political and social variances in
Germany during the Cold War, because, while it created a physical barrier, it still was unable
separate people in an ethic manor.
Notably, before the walls creation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physically it was a 13ft high wall topped with barbed wire which extended 27 miles through the
center of the city (Raichelle). This large barrier came equipped with guards, and only had a
small gate termed Checkpoint Charlie, which was reserved for military and diplomatic use between
the two sides (Tucker). The wall was the tall divider of people; of families and friends, as it was
created to keep people from leaving.
After its construction, The Wall separated the two sides, but also created more issues than it
solved. For instance, between 1961 and 1989, the East German guards shoot to kill order against
refugees resulted in about 250 300 deaths ( Berlin Wall ). Those killed were most likely the
artisans who desired to leave in the first place, or the people who were separated from their
families in the initial construction of the Wall. Seeing as it also stretched through the center of
the city, anyone caught on the wrong side was trapped there. They were stuck, forced to spend
their days separated. If they attempted to leave, they could become part of the 200 people who
were shot dead while attempting to scale the wall (Raichelle). However, despite this, thousands of
East Germans still managed to escape across the barrier ( Cold War ). They left East Germanyfor
the West; as the West had different ideals that allowed these citizens to have more freedoms.
However, on November

The Importance Of Freedom In The United States
Since this country s inception, America has been a haven of freedom for all its citizens. Beginning
with the Pilgrims, who came to this new world in an effort to escape persecution for the
fundamental aspects of their cultural identity. The Pilgrims show, that these freedoms existed even
before this country decided to build its country foundation upon them. The men who founded this
great nation, looked back in history as they penned what is now known as the Constitution. This
unprecedented unionВґs law code was not brought to bear based entirely upon newly created
principles. Rather, they employed principles from many other historical documents, including the
Magna Carta, and George MasonВґs 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights. Shortly after the
foundation of the country, the requisite for an iron willed leader arose. A retired general was called
to the forefront of the newly created Union. General George Washingtonreluctantly accepted the
power of the newly created office. In truth, he created the powers afforded to the vocation now
known as president, it has even been said he had to decline the title of king. The first president
served this country honorably, before stepping down after the conclusion of this second term. He
had declined the title of king in name, and would now also decline the role of a despot by staying
in power for more than two terms. This set a long precedent of self imposed term limits for
presidents to come, a precedent that would last until the modern era of the presidency with
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This Union was tested again during the Civil War. A time
when slavery divided this country greatly. When, a single issue, threatened to break the bonds of
patriotism. For it was Benjamin Franklin, who, when asked what type of government the nation
would now have after the valiant victory years before in the American Revolution, he said, ВЁA
republic, if you can keep it.ВЁ Though, for once in the nation s history, there was a legitimate fear
that the bonds of our shared heritage could not save the republic from those that expressed an
inclination to exacerbate the minimal contempts between the two factions. President Lincoln, in his
Gettysburg Address, said, ВЁNow we are

Unorganized Sports
Introduction Youth participation in sport has become increasingly popular as time progresses,
whether it is in an organized fashion (sports teams) or unorganized (playing outside at recess).
There is approximately forty four million girls and boys currently [participating] in organized
youth sport programs across the United States (Albrecht, 2010) and that number is probably only
higher today. That is not even accounting for all the children that get together with their friends
and head to a local park to play a game of touch football or their time at recess during the school
day. Both unorganized play and organized sports are important for children to participate in
because it allows them to grow as human beings by developing character... Show more content on

Without an adult, the game was left up to the children to decide. They had to decide whether the
ball was in bounds or not; they would often make a fair call rather than trying to boost their own
team. Unorganized sports allows them to learn fairness and equality because if they end up
making the game unfair, the children would lose their friends to another game on the playground.
The unorganized sports at recess had more laughter involved compared to the organized sports
because the children were often playing with who they wanted to play with at recess (i.e. their
best friends). The unorganized sports were more fun to the children because there was no pressure
from their parents or coaches to be the best or to win; it was just for fun and to be active with their
friends. The children were not forced to focus on what they were doing; they could take a break
from the game and mess around with each other. Another thing that I noticed during unorganized
sport observations was that the children made up rules as they went and as they needed the rules
to be put in place instead of discussing all the rules at the beginning. With them making up rules
as they went, it did cause problems because some of the children would say that is not how they
play the sport being on an organized sports team. A majority of the children would talk about
playing on a sports team, while they were playing at recess, so the rules of both would cause
conflict. When conflict arrives, the children would have to problem solve himself or herself

Customer Behavior Relations And Smartphone Essay
Customer Behavior in Relations to Smartphone
Connie Grimes
Liberty University Customer Behavior in Relations to Smartphone
Smartphone is the trending portable phone with improved mode of operation in the market.
Smartphones have features such as cameras, video app, song app, document storage, and recording
events. There are different types of smartphones that have succeeded by the OLED technology. This
technology entered the market in 2013 by the Samsung group. The improvement continued in 2014
with the incorporation of Quad HD screens technology and WI FI network. Nonetheless, Android
and I phone technologies have also been introduced making smartphones to be better option for
customers.
Smartphones have become part of life for many people across the world. Khan, Abid, Muntaha,
and Jamal (2016) assert that in a country where 90% owns phones, approximately 64% have
smartphones. The majority of the Smartphone owners are people who range between 18 29
years compared to people between 30 49 years old then 50 64 in descending order (Khan et al.,
2016). The few percentage of the older group who has Smartphones finds it difficult to use and
maintain. This is because of the multiple app available on them. The movable device is liked by
the young age people, because they use it for learning, listening to music, and share files. On
education level, approximately 87% of people who have gone to high school and above are likely
to have Smartphones (Kang, Hur, Son, 2014). The

My Core Philosophy And It s Ongoing Development
In formulating this essay I will give a descriptive account of my core philosophy and it s ongoing
development. I will evidence my way of working in context to counselling theory, relating this to the
course s guidelines. Giving reflections on personal, intrinsic values and beliefs, their application in
practice within a placement setting.
There are many emerging influences that shape both my professional and personal development as
a practitioner. Accessing a vast array of life experiences, contributes richly to the evolution of my
individual approach. Aptly noted as Counsellors and therapists are influenced by their own
experience or story as they develop or adopt their theoretical stance (Milner and Palmer, 2001, P.
17)). Ongoing instruction at college and engagement with fellow students continue to prompt
further learning, allowing for openness and shared knowledge. This facilitates an atmosphere of
mutual exchange which often flows spontaneously. In addition personal research undertaken
around theoretical subject matter expands and enhances understanding. Attending training and
workshops in Transactional Analysis, Emotion Focused Therapy, Neurobiology of Anxiety and
Trauma and Seren work with the survivors of sexual abuse, have promoted exploration,
development and growth. Discovering scientific aspects of neurobiology and its positive affects,
affirm the effectiveness of the therapeutic engagement in counselling. Details consolidating these

Analysis Of The Film Memento
The film Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2001) uses the set of depth of field and angles to enhance
the film s connection to the audience. The use of cinematography works through the film using
narration, camera motions, and angles to show to the uniqueness and differ from other films.
Memento s organization of scenes and use of close ups give the audiencetheir own idea and thought
the process to create a relation to the character and to try to understand him.
At the start of the film, the story is shown to be presented backward as one scene is color and
another in black and white, and narrated in two different ways. In the beginning scenes, there is an
introduction of a Polaroid fading back to white and blood running up the walls which correlates to
Leonard s memory and how the fading polaroid relates to his fading memories. There is a close up
on these scenes showing that the film is concentrating on this intensely, which captures the attention
of the audience. Memento s editing structure connects to Leonard s personality by showing
close ups of his tattoos and polaroids. This relates to the plot as important information is
revealed from his mini notes on each picture, such as the Don t believe his lies or He s the one,
kill him which ultimately lead to Teddy s death. What Leonard wrote regarding Teddy stains the
relationship they have and causes Leonard to misunderstand his relation with Teddy. Other close
ups are the shots of tattoos, where one was Remember Sammy Jankis which shows as a constant
reminder of his situation and medical condition, but also give the audience a sympathetic feeling
toward his past. The little notes Leonard gives himself convinces him that he is on the right path,
however, as the audience, we can tell that the information he is receiving is skewed. The constant
reminder from the close ups shows Leonard s reasoning of the motivations for his actions,
although his constant need for his notes and living the way he does gives off the idea that he is
unstable. Leonard s close up in the mirror of the reflection of his tattoo John G. raped and
murdered my wife shows the audience what his motive and desires are without needing Leonard s
narration for this. The use of the

Summary Paper Ctenophora and the Warty Comb Jelly The phylum Ctenophora is very intriguing,
and o ur research was focused mainly on the species Mnemiopsis, otherwise known as the Sea
Walnut. This species of Comb Jellies is found in freshwater and saltwater all throughout the world.
They move through their habitat with cilia attached to comb rows. The Sea Walnut is thought to be
one of largest organism to move with cilia. This may be because it is not the most advanced
organism. Its highest level of organization is tissues. But do not mistake that for this organism
being boring, it has many redeemable qualities, like bioluminescence (http:/

But their bioluminescence is also special, because they glow with rainbow colors. This is in part
possible and useful because of the depth they live in. They tend to live in shallower waters, so the
colors they project would still be visible. Another fun fact is that the Sea Walnuts, when invasive
are very capable of terminating ecosystems. They destroyed an immense number of fisheries on the
Black Sea due to their voracious appetites, and caused economic downturn by the destruction of
these fisheries by eating gargantuan amounts of plankton (https://faculty.washington.edu/cemills

Furthermore, to be successful as a student in the Public Safety master s program the following
skills are required: develop a sense of necessity, work hard, understand, analyze, prove and explain
ideas and research in depth, predict where the research is heading, manage time well, establish and
maintain a working relationship with peers and instructors, discuss research projects with peers,
develop professional contacts, write compressed and pinpointed papers and read with an analytical

Overall to be successful in graduate school, the student should be motivated, a creative thinker,

When The Housing Market Collapse
When the housing market collapse occurred I was much younger and not fully aware or advised
of how serious the situation really was. Several of my family members owned homes then, but
looking back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this
day I do not know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize
my situation could have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a
homesomeday like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a
growing society its citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same
outcomes and flourish.
Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from:
First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into
everything you can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be
able to expand your research with two different points of views and get more results. Don t depend

Analysis Of The Movie Star Wars Script
Paper #4
What concept has fueled numerous wars and conflicts throughout history, and even in present
day? It is the oversimplification of the perception of good and bad which has sparked these
battles, as well as worked to handicap young people s ability to come to a true understanding of
world events. Gardner writes about this concept when he says, most five year olds have developed
a Star Wars script. Life consists of a struggle between Good and Bad forces, with the Good generally
triumphant (627). Through their entertainment children construct an internalized script which can
mislead them to think the concept of good and bad is much less complex than in reality. I believe
that this is still true, and that the Star Wars script is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toward the end of the fable, Harry learns that Voldemort is trying to steal the Sorcerer s Stone
which can be used grant immortality. Harry determines that he must find the stone first. This leads
to a final struggle between Harry Potter and Voldemort, while he inhabits the body of one of the
professors at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry Potter, representing the good
side , ends up winning the battle, saving the professor, and stopping Voldemort from his evilplans.
The storyline used is a perfect example of the Star Wars script that Gardner was referring to.
Harry Potter represents the good side in this plot, while Voldemort represents the bad. Children
who grow up observing the aforementioned plot can then construct a misguided perception of
what defines good and evil . Children internalize these types of scripts and use them to interpret
major historical or present day events. Gardner explains that Most historical events or works of
literature, however, prove far more complex; to understand the causes of World War I or the U.S.
Civil War, or to grasp the thrust of a novel by Hawthorne or Austen, one must weigh and integrate
multiple factors and nuances (627). By using the Star Wars script children fail to grasp the
complexities of the events that have, or are, taking place. It can lead to them using an erroneous
way of thinking by believing that historical wars are this grand battle of good and bad. The

Rosalind Franklin Research Papers
Rosalind Elsie Franklin was a very hard working woman in science who worked in discovering
of the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). She was born on July 25, 1920 in London,
England, and she was a chemist as well as a biologist. She helped in discovering the structure of
deoxyribonucleic acid (Vanderpool 2009). Because of her work, we can understand the component
of DNAtoday. Even though she was an outstanding woman in science, her works were not

Voting Age Voting
In the most recent election in 2016 only 59% of Americans voted. Many people today see this as
a major issue; however, a major argument has risen on how to solve this problem. One of the
solutions that have been considered is lowering the voting age to 16 to get younger Americans
votes. However many Americans think that this is crazy to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote.
The clear and only answer to this contentious question is that 16 and 17 year olds should not be
able to vote. As stated before 16 and 17 year olds should not be allowed to vote because sixteen
and seventeen year olds are not mature enough, their opinions can be easily swayed or changed
based on what others think, and they are not educated enough on politics in order to vote. To begin,
Americans under the age of eighteen should not be allowed to vote because they aren t mature
enough. Headcount.org points out that, Minors, according to current laws are not mature enough to
take part in consuming alcohol, [or] tobacco... is votingany different? (Debanno n.pag.) In other
words, if sixteen year olds are not old enough to handle these substances then they are clearly not
mature enough to vote. In the article For and Against: lowering voting age, it states that, 18 year
olds may think that they know everything but they really do not. (Blacklock n.pag.) In other
words, what this article is saying that if some 18 year olds are not mature enough to vote then we
shouldn t even be considering lowering our voting

Persuasive Essay On Losing Weight
According to the Center for Disease Control over 70% of adults over the age of 20 are
overweight, and 38% of the population are classified as obese (cdc.gov). Every day we are sold
by the idea of The magical cure all , some supplement or diet that will somehow fix every issue
for you. The idea that we can literally change nothing about our lives and drop weight is seductive
and tempting, but ultimately it s utterly false. At its most basic level, losing weight is a math issue
and nothing more. There is no magical pill or supplement that will somehow make you burn all
the extra calories you re intaking everyday. So, with that said we are left with one of two options;
diet, or change your lifestyle. Dietingis defined as restricting oneself to small amounts or special
kind of food in order to lose weight. Instantly with that definition you receive such a negative
connotation to the idea of fat loss. The idea that a person has to Restrict themselves is almost
offensive to the average adult, it simply implies that they have this supreme lack of willpower and
have to force themselves into an uncomfortable position. In 2012 twenty billion dollars was spent in

Underage Drinking In America
Underage drinking is a very eminent problem for Americans today. Some may not know that the
human brain continues to develop until the age of twenty five. Underage drinking can weaken
neurological development, which could cause minors to make bad decisions, have memory loss,
slower thought processes, and even acquire irreversible brain damage. Drinking when your body
and mind are not fully developed can leave damaging effects on a person s social abilities,
neurological abilities, and overall health.
A youth s social abilities can be destroyed by underage drinking. Socialization skills are key when
a minor is growing up. A minor struggles to find their own independence and find themselves,
therefore creating a distance from family relationships and creating new bonds with peers. The
youth tend to try to be similar to each other to fit in with the rest, and as a result, children may be
pressured into drinking alcohol. When these minors start to drink heavily and frequently, they
may develop self esteem issues, depression, disorders, antisocial behavior, and anxiety. This
makes underage drinkers more withdrawn from their peers and families than their peers who
choose not to drink. Peers who don t drink do not tend to associate and be friends with the group
of people that do drink. This can lead to isolation and also disdain from those who do ... Show more

Regionalism allows for some voters to have more power with their votes, particularly Ontario and
Quebec over other provinces thus furthering regional tension and divide.
Voters in areas with a lesser impact on the Election outcome may feel a sense of voter apathy and
will be less likely to engage with political discourse.
Potentially wasted ballots on small fringe parties with no chance of winning or in electoral districts
with a strong partisan leaning.
Parties that have a diffuse national support may be underrepresented in House of Commons, The
New Democratic Party and in some historical instances the Conservative Party have been negatively
impacted by this.
The inverse of the prior problem occurs as well, parties with a concentrated regional support
become over represented in the House of Commons; The Bloc Quebecois have traditionally been an
example of this.
Strategic voting may occur to ensure a party is removed from power, voters will vote for an
opposing party with a good chance of winning versus a party with lesser support but whose
platform they agree with.
On Election Day a winner can be determined before polls across Canada close, once the Maritimes,
Quebec and Ontario are counted, a winner can be determined before the polls close out West.

Discuss Inventory Management (Chapter 20) from the perspective of cost, customer satisfaction
and profitability. What is the Wal Mart approach to Inventory Management? Inventory costs are
basically categorized into several different elements, but the elements that are typically derive the
most impact to the bottom line are ordering costs and carrying costs. However, costs associated to
shortages or stock outs, the cost of replenishment, cost of logistics, and cost associated with loss,
pilferage, shrinkage and obsolescence are significant to profitability too.
Ordering costs are based on two different factors including the ordering of excess inventory or not
enough. In some instances, procurement departments are challenged with purchasing decisions
whereas vendors will offer better buying prices if they tend to order in larger quantities. Initially,
the cost savings may seem beneficial up front, however, far too often the actually savings is not
ever realized because the inventory becomes obsolete and written off as excess. On the contrary,
ordering insufficient amount of inventory can result in stock outs and loss of sales ultimately

Definition Essay On Patriarchy
Guess What? You re a Feminist! Feminism is not a radical movement or a fringe movement or
an embarrassment or a fraud. Feminism is simple. The patriarchy does exist. To identify as a
feminist is to acknowledge that women are people, and, as such, women deserve the same
social, economic, and political rights and opportunities as other styles of people (i.e., men
people). To be a feminist is also to acknowledge that the world is not, currently, a fair and just

Life in Southern Mill Villages, 1900s
The Industrial Revolution in America began to develop in the mid eighteen hundreds after the Civil
War. Prior to this industrial growth the work force was mainly based in agriculture, especially in the
South ( Industrial Revolution ). The advancement in machinery and manufacturing on a large scale
changed the structure of the work force. Families began to leave the farm and relocate to larger
settings to work in the ever growing industries. One area that saw a major change in the work force
was textile manufacturing. Towns in the early nineteen hundreds were established around mills,
and workers were subjected to strenuous working conditions. It would take decades before these

For a small income these women would sometimes produce a product for a company out of their
homes. These cottage industries were all that was needed at the time.
After the Civil War, the South did not want to rely upon the North for all their textile needs despite
the North being the major textile manufacturer at that time. More and more factories were built in
the South. Cotton mills were built along rivers for their hydropower, usually in rural areas (Glass
14). Mills were also commonly located near railroads to send their finished products throughout the
states (Ulrich 15).
Mill owners did not rely slave labor for their work force. The price of purchasing enough slaves
to fill the many factory positions was too high. This objection also had racist undertones as well
as economic ones. It was believed by some at that time that slaves were not smart enough to
learn even the simplest of tasks. Also it was illegal to teach a slave a trade, even one as simple as
spinning yarn (Glass 19). Factory owners were forced to rely on the poor people in the
surrounding areas for their workforce, especially women and children.
While the new textile industry was growing, the agricultural economy at the time was stagnant. It
became harder and harder for farmers to pay off their debts. Many farmers lost their land and had
to find a new means to support themselves and their families. The factories and

The Era Of The 19th Century
Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires,
which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and
Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to
rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution
was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large
industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile
manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased
due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the
invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of
scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the
emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and
Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts,
such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory.
One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and
formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of
disease. As all theories at the time, Pasteur s work faced significant contention from his

Public Sphere As A Place Open
I define a public sphere as a place open to all people, where important topics can be discussed,
opinions can be heard, and organization of action can take place. Over the last several years the
social media phenomenon has led to expansion of the public sphere, with Twitter and Facebook
becoming key components of the contemporary public sphere. These expansions of the public
sphere still have several advantages but due to barriers, algorithms, and government
intervention, the social media public sphere is shrinking. In this essay I will be focusing on two
online public spheres, Twitter and Facebook, as journalism has been increasingly moving online
(Hayes, 2013). To begin I will clarify why I believe the contemporary public sphere is entirely
online. Every person in this world belongs to several groups, as groups can be based on
anything; religion, family, class, status, age, gender, occupation race, interest, or geographic
location. As stated by Bernays, these groups teach us to accept a standardized code of social
conduct to which we conform most of the time. Groups shape our opinions on what we see as
important (Bernays, 1928). Due to homophily, which states that we spend most time with like
minded people, many of the people we have strong ties with have the same opinions as us because
they fall into the same groups (Steenson, 2014). Public spheres are spaces that allow people to
come together to identify and discuss societal problems and impact political

Analysis Of Black Music By Amiri Baraka
Jazz was born in New Orleans and has been with us for more than half a century (Helm 1). Jazz
has grown popular in the eyes of critics. This makes it easy for many people to have access to it
and have their own views tainted by the opinion of others. Amiri Baraka, formerly known as LeRoi
Jones, wrote about the negative sides to having white critics write on Jazz. This is important because
in his writing Jones discussed musiccritics not understanding the true meaning of the song. Amiri
Barakas theory of music critics is correct because it sheds light on how music critics have had a
hand in changing Jazz. In his writing Black Music, Amiri Baraka feels as the Jazz critics are
missing the true meaning of the lyrics and are only viewing one side of the piece and not the
deeper meaning. In his writing, Jazz, the Critics, and American Art Music in the 1920s, Mary
Herron Dupree states agree with Baraka when she states, The discussion of jazz and its
relationship to art music began slowly in periodicals in 1921 and by 1924 was intense (288). In
other words, Jazz has seen an increase in popularity as the years have gone by. While the
popularity began to increase Jazz culture also began to see new faces. Amiri Baraka disagrees
with the cultural expanding of Jazz music because he feels as though ...the sub cultural attitudes
that produced the music as a profound expression of human feelings, could be learned and need
not be passed on as a secret blood rite (Baraka 13). In other

Empowerment Theory
Empowerment as a goal in feminist therapy is achieved by reframing and reconceptualizing
psychopathology as an external patriarchal social structure. The concept of psychopathology is
generally avoided in feminist therapy. Instead, feminist therapy uses the terms distress (subjective
experience of misplaced well being) and dysfunction (ways of being that created life difficulties;
Brown, 2010). Shifting the blame to uncontrollable forces can be empowering for the client. The
experience of powerlessness and disempowerment are central to occurrence of distress and
dysfunction. Brown (2010) conceptualized power existing across four domains of human
experience: (1) somatic/biological power body is accepted and experienced as safe place; (2)
intrapersonal/intrapsychic power thoughts and feelings are known, intuition trusted; (3)
interpersonal/social contextual power boundaries and relationships are healthy; and (4) spiritual
/existential power meaning making systems can respond to existential challenges. Issues of
empowerment (or disempowerment) can occur within and across these various domains. Repeated

These four axes of power provide opportunity for clients to explore and break their trance of
powerlessness. Therapists invite clients to examine and identify where and how they can access
greater power and to explore tools and strategies within and through the therapeutic relationship.
Additionally, the empowerment models can be targeted at any of the 4 axes of power depending
on the goals of the client. Power is reconceptualized as a continuous rather than discrete variable
which can be gained. Distress and dysfunction are reframed as empowering, reflecting the
motivation to take those steps to be a powerful individual. The metaphor of symptom as resistance
offered by Brown (2010) connects clients to their agency in attempting to address

Cola Wars Memo
The existing concentrate business is largely controlled by Coca Cola Company (Coca Cola) and
PepsiCo (Pepsi), together claiming a combined 72% of the U.S. carbonated soft drink (CSD)
market sales volume in 2009. Refer to Exhibit 1 for an illustration of the CSD industry value chain.
For more than a century, Coca Colaand Pepsi have maintained growth and large market shares
through mastering five competitive forces, shown in Exhibit 2, that drive profitability and shape
the industry structure.
Entry Barriers: Both Coca Cola and Pepsi have strong entry barriers for new competitors, especially
in high end markets like the US. Because of the two companies sizes, market maturity, and good
market position, many barriers exist for new entrants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, all risk in price fluctuations in the raw materials market is transferred and paid for by
the bottling business. Supplier power of the concentrate business is also exerted over the bottling
business by the threat of acquisition and vertical integration the concentrate business supports its
bottling business through providing suggestions for operational improvement. While this support
can be viewed positively, both Coca Cola and Pepsi have acquired its bottling franchises due to
their dissatisfaction over the operational effectiveness of its bottling business. Through the last few
decades, Coca Cola and Pepsi have oscillated between acquiring and re franchising its partner
bottling businesses.
Rivalry: The rivalry between Coca Cola and Pepsi is extremely high; however, both companies
continue to remain profitable. Prior to the 1980s, pricing wars negatively affected profitability for
Coca Cola and Pepsi. After Coca Cola renegotiated its franchise bottling contract and both
companies increased concentrate prices, the rivalry began to focus on differentiation and
advertising strategies. Through creative advertising campaigns, such as the Pepsi Challenge where
Pepsi ran blind taste tests to demonstrate that consumers

Buser V. Corpus Christi Independent School Case Study
All parents and/or guardians are awarded due process in the United States court system. IDEA gives
parents the opportunity for a child with a disability the rights to examine their personal records,
participate in meetings such as, IEPs and ARDs with the respect to the identification, evaluation,
and educationof the child s placement and also free public education (Osbourne Russo). Although
most of the due process rights in the IDEA are for the benefit of children, the Supreme Court ruled
that parents have rights of their own independent of those of their children (Osbourne Russo, p.
96). In this paper it will analyze the court case of Buser v. Corpus Christi Independent School
District, 1995; the parties involved, issues brought to court, disagreements, how and when the case

How Do Person-Centred Counsellors Use the Therapeutic...
How do person centred counsellors use the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change and in what
way (s) does person centred therapy differ from other helping relationships? word count: 2,495
Person centred counselling originated and was evolved on the ideas of American psychologist Carl
Rogers. The influences on Carl Rogers and he s conceptualisation of Person centred counselling
are numerous, from his early family life living on a farm, his interest and involvement in theology
and his formative professional career. One incident which appears to have had a particular impact
on Carl Rogers was when working in his first job as a psychologist, at Rochester New York, for an
organisation for the prevention of cruelty to children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These correct conditions which are required within person centred therapy in order that the client
can achieve self actualisation and personality change were outlined by Carl Rogers and he believed
that if this 6 conditions were met, it would facilitate change within the client: Two persons are in
psychological contact both client and counsellor are present physically and psychologically. The
client is in a state of incongruence, (which will be discussed in more detail) the communication of
the counsellor s empathetic understanding and unconditional positive regard is met at a minimal
level. The last condition mentioned involves 3 other conditions, which are essential attitudes and
qualities necessary for the counsellor to posses for successful therapy; empathic understanding,
unconditional positive regard and congruence. (Rogers C, 1957).
Before looking at the latter 3 in more detail, it is important to understand Carl Rogers s view of
the person and perhaps what is ultimately bringing the client to therapy. Carl Rogers believed that
there is incongruence between the self that is the actualisation part, that has a desire to grow, is
open to experiencing in the moment and ultimately psychological well being and the actual
experience of the self. He believed this effect was caused

Student Diversity At Our School
When I went on stage during our weekly assembly and announced the start of affinity groups at
our school, I was oblivious to the reaction of the hundreds of students in the audience. I was
focused on speaking clearly and getting through my short speech, excited by what I was
announcing. I didn t know that the few sentences I read off a piece of paper would change my
perception of my school, my friends, and myself. Almost as soon as I got out of the assembly,
before I even got to my next class, I began hearing people criticizing affinity groups. Many people
were saying that this was segregating students, that we were being reverse racists , that there was
no need for the groups or any discussions about race, that SDLC (the diversity club I... Show more

The only people who had had any experience with these groups were the people who had
attended the SDLC conference, where we participated in our respective affinity groups. Soon
after we announced the start of the groups, other students confronted me about the groups. Many
people had an almost visceral reaction against the concept of the groups, having been taught for
so long that it is wrong to single out people for their race. I understand why it was hard for
people to acknowledge the need for these groups, as it meant acknowledging that our whole
system had flaws; that there was still racism and prejudice within our community. This is not
something people were comfortable discussing. My school s motto is Excellence and Honor and
many students are incredibly smart and high achieving. We pride ourselves not just on our
academic strength but on our honor code and ethical behavior. This made people particularly
hesitant to pop the bubble of excellence and perfection by discussing things like racism. I d like to
think that I am naturally an open minded and accepting person, but perhaps if I hadn t been to the
SDLC conference and participated in the affinity groups there, I too would have been skeptical of
the program. The introduction of something so new and unfamiliar was

Introduction. The Lungs Are One Of The Most Vital Organ
Introduction The lungs are one of the most vital organ in the body. Without the lungs, the body will
not be able to oxygenate the organs needed to sustain life. Oxygen is the primary driving force that
living organisms need to oxidize food, produce adenosine triphosphate and metabolize energy.
Despite the importance of this organ, millions of Americans acquire pneumonia which ultimately
leads to injury and damage of this vital organ. Although, there are treatments for pneumonia,
education is the most critical aspect we can teach our patients. Through education, we can enhance

Just to name a few, here are the most influential pathogens for CAP: haemophilus influenza,
mycoplasma pneumoniae and viral pneumoniae (adenovirus, varicella zoster). Lastly, VAP occurs
in the hospital setting and typically involves patients who underwent endotracheal intubation or
received mechanical ventilator support. Methicillin drug resistant bacteria is the main pathogen
responsible for VAP. In order, to understand pneumonia, it is imperative to recognize the
pathophysiology behind this disease. The development of pneumonia is influenced by internal and
external factors. Intrinsic factors that increase your chances of developing a respiratory infection
include loss of gag reflex, altered level of consciousness and strokes. Loss of gag reflex allows the
pathological agents to enter the lungs freely with no resistance. On the other hand, extrinsic factors
include pulmonary irritants, parenchymal injury and exposure of the pathogenic agents (fungi,
bacteria, parasites, viral). Internal and external factors all enhance the possibility of respiratory
infection, damage and failure. The manifestation of pneumonia is not the same for every patient.
Early signs and symptoms for a viral infection include: coughing with yellowish green mucus, high
fever, chills, sweating and blue lips. A late manifestation of viral pneumonia includes: muscle pain,
shortness of breath and severe pounding headache.

The American Of The Canadian Empire
Once considered the gem of the Canadian Crown Corporations, Air Canada was afflicted by a
storm of financial problems in the early nineties. This onslaught of financial difficulties, which
had been created largely by the Gulf War and the Canadian recession, increased Air Canada s
losses increased at worrisome rates. Then, after suffering losses upwards of $218 million in 1991,
the Board of Directors recognized the need for a corporate overhaul and consequently appointed
Hollis Harris as the Chief Executive Officer the following year. Harris, a 37 year veteran in the
highly competitive American airlineindustry, was given the challenging task of returning the
struggling airline to profitability. When he was appointed, many Canadians were outraged that an
American would lead a privatized Canadian company and feared this decision to be a step towards
the impending Americanization of the Canadian culture. Others speculated that Harris was
appointed for the sole purpose of training and mentoring Air Canada s future leader . However,
these individuals were all proven wrong when Harris transformed the reeling airline into a leading
competitor in the global airline industry. His American background, which was condemned by
many, played a significant role in the expanding Air Canada s international reach. His experience in
the aviation sector combined with his extraordinary leadership skills, helped reduce costs and
placed Air Canada on the path to financial recovery. Finally,

Edmund Iago And Richard III Character Analysis
Shakespeare created the new style of villains he shows the battle between the good and evil side
of human soul. Shakespeare gave more human qualities to a villain than it was already shown in
sixteen century s plays. Shakespeare s villain like Edmund, Iago and Richard iii express their
intentions and motives in the soliloquy effectively. Soliloquy helps them to build a connection
with audience while explaining their motives (Jones, 2010) Edmund was the brother of Edgar,
he goes onany heights to achieve his goals and also deceived his father and brother. He is strong
and had a great mind which can easily analyse the situations (Lofgren, 2010). His extreme
egoism compels him to use his social disadvantage as an excuse for honorable self
advancements. His plot was motivated by his egoism and his thirst for power. Edmund was the
cold blooded opportunist and wouldn t miss a chance to manipulate Lear political issues in his
favor. He had no family feeling that s why he gets rid of his brother firstly and then deceived his
father. The show of sympathy and nobility in the end of play was rather hypocrisy by Edmund
(Sadowski, 2015).Like all the villains Edmund had a common trait of unchangeable character and

The Biological Basis Of Personality Approach
This essay will give a description of Personality before critically analysing the biological basis of
personality approach. The biological basis approach tries to account for the mechanisms between
genes and personality by looking at various different brain structures whilst the biochemical
approach looks at the impact of hormones and neurotransmitters. The majority of our
understanding of personality from a biological perspective focuses on the three main behavioural
systems; the reward system, the motivation system and the punishment system. Within this essay
I will be discussing the three main theories that have come from these ideas, Eyenck s three
factor model, Gray s reinforcement sensitivity theory (RST) and Cloningers model of personality.
Human DNA is composed of roughly 30,000 genes composed of around 3 million base pairs and
99% of these are universally identical for everyone meaning they cannot be the source of
personality differences in people. This suggests that the remaining genes are genetic mutations or
polymorphisms, which have an influence on personality, and the biological approach uses three
main methods to try and determine what % of individual differences in a trait can be attributed to
genes and what % is a response to the environment. Family studies are a commonly used method as
they correlate the degree of genetic overlap between family members with the degree of similarity
in personality traits. In personality research they are generally used to

  • 5. George Miller s Mad Max Franchise Mad Max: Road Fury has been consider one of the best movies of the summer. It is the fourth installation in George Miller s Mad Max franchise. The most interesting thing about this release, however, is that although it is the fourth movie of the series, it come almost thirty years after the release of the last movie in the franchise. The development, financing, and eventual production of Fury Road is incredibly interesting because although almost everything went wrong, it still became a successful movie, both critically and in the box office. A decade after the release of the third installment of the Mad Max franchise, Beyond the Thunderdome, Warner Bros. began to develop a Mad Max TV show. However, at the time, the 90s, a TV show that violent would never have been aired, and as such, they began to focus on a fourth Mad Max movie, set for the late 90s. (Meslow) In 2001, 9/11 derailed the movie for financial reasons. In Miller s own words, Everything closed down, shipping closed down, insurance closed down and most of all the American dollar collapsed by about 25% within a few weeks. Additionally, the studio decided that such bleak times called for happier movies, because of this, Miller decided to work on Happy Feet instead. (Bravin) By 2003, the Mad Max movie was set to begin filming in Namibia. However, the location was determined to be a security risk, causing it to be delayed once again. By 2006, Mel Gibson began to distance himself from the movie, thinking that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Soteriology Soteriology The Doctrine of Salvation and Discipleship Sirs, what must I do to be saved? No question is more important or more debated than this one presented by the Philippian jailer in Acts 16:30. The answer to this important question is found in the basic aspects of the faith. This is why the doctrine of salvationis so important. No doctrine of the faith is more fundamental than this doctrine. The essence of the gospel message is that God has achieved eternal salvation for all who will receive JesusChrist as Lord and Savior, believing that He died on the cross of Calvary as the sin bearer of the world. Salvation was accomplished for men by the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ. This is what we call Soteriology , or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plan of salvation required the sacrifice of a perfect representative to mankind, providing the atonement of the whole humanity s sin and appeasing God s wrath. Such representative was to be a pure and perfect human being with no relationship to sin. Since the whole mankind have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23), no human was capable to perform such duty. He who was to be our Mediator should be very God and very man. Thus, it was necessary for the Son of God to become our Emmanuel, the God with us in the human form of Jesus. Paul demonstrates this truth when he set forth Christ as the Mediator and distinctly declares Jesus to be man ( one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus 1st Timothy 2:5). The suffering of the Savior accomplished many things. Jesus was sacrificed in our place to make us righteous before God (Substitution 2nd Cor. 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, Galatians 3:13; Isaiah 53:6). Also, God Himself paid as a ransom the price of human sin and purchased sinners to Himself through the death of Christ (Redemption 1 Peter 1:18 19). Furthermore, God satisfied His own righteousness and His own wrath in Jesus sacrifice (Propitiation Romans 3:25 26; 1 John 2:2 and 4:10). Jesus also positioned men back on friendly terms with God and now we are no longer under the supervision of the law (Reconciliation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This video focuses specifically on Jackson, Mississippi. This video takes a look at Lanier High School and some of the student s experiences and difficulties in this school due to poverty in this town. Jackson Mississippi is 70% black and Lanier High Schoolis 100% black students. Everything started to go downhill for this community after integration occurred. Black students left their school and went to a more diverse school. But no one chose to come to Lanier High School or Jacksondue to how run down the community and school was. Therefore the community only suffered. Manuel is a student at Lanier High School. He does not have a father figure and his mother is not in good condition due to her stroke, so he has to take care of her. He struggles in school with his grades and authority from the teachers. He plays on the basketball team but always fights with his coach because he is not used to male authority. He is kicked off of the team and ends up failing tenth grade. He then roams the streets with his buddies and his mom is very worried he ll end up in jail or even worse, death. He is a prime example of how poverty in his family and community affect him directly. • 8. Touch Reaction Times Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018 Introduction: The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment could have been improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. I Am A Liberal Conservative Is More Open Minded Than Some... I am a Liberal. A Liberal is more open minded than some other political ideologies. They believe we should all be equal and have the same opportunities in life. The government should help us so we can all be financially stable. Things like health care and food stamps are important because the government should help all of us, if we cannot do that for ourselves. Although liberals want help from the government they don t believe they should control what we do in our personal lives. They are very big advocators for women s rights for this reason. Focusing on actual government, a big belief is that federal government should have more say over citizens instead of letting state government have control over what we do. Along with having laws they believe more laws will help us. It is a way to keep people in line and provide equal opportunity for everyone. I identify as a liberalbut I don t hold all the same beliefs as the typical liberals. I come from a big Hispanic Catholic family; I am one of five children. Growing up I would stay with my grandmother most weekends because my house was always so hectic. I obviously was taken to church every Sunday with her, where we would meet with the rest of my family. I would attend my Communion classes before we went to mass. I remember my teachers always telling us how loving and accepting God is. We would sing and color all through class, everything just seemed perfect. When the priest would preach during mass he would say how forgiving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Photography Is A Culture, Not Just A Medium INTRODUCTION Photography is a culture, not just a medium. Photography has been used as an exploitative tool, an explorative tool, and an artistic tool. A photograph can be a snapshot of time, a record, a detail, a shift, a perspective, an emotion. In curating photography, I had to learn how to create conversations and comparisons between images, whilst simultaneously letting each work retain its individuality. There is no one meaning in a photograph. The intrinsically challenging task was to provide points of entry into the works and elucidate the broad theme of the exhibition, whilst allowing counter narratives and alternative readings to exist. THE PRELIMINARY PROCESS Working with an established collection like The University of AucklandArt Collection, curators need to work creatively in order to produce an exhibition that is both innovative and adequately represents the collection. The University of Auckland Collection includes approximately 140 photographs that are situated around the various campuses and storage facilities. With such a range to choose from, we approached the task in a practical way. We initially surveyed the works and found a broad theme emerging images of architecture and nature. Due to the range of locations housing the pieces, it was important to then establish the works that could be transported to the venue in time, and from these, we selected a more specific theme. The Collection was established in 1966 with works from Colin McCahon and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of The Histroy Of Hoovervilles The three excerpts, separately written by Janet Hutchison, Gail Radford, and Kenneth Jackson, altogether describe the progression of the United States housing system, and the contexts surrounding it, through the first half of the 20th century. Hutchison argues that the efforts of Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United Statesas well as a former Secretary of Commerce, in reforming the housing policy are largely overlooked, partly because his name evokes the image of Hoovervilles ; however, under his leadership, the suburban ideal, a whimsical notion that permeated nationwide during the interwar period, became an integral aspect of the American identity, and this in turn helped the subsequent leaderships cement federal programs that ... • 12. A Brief History of the Berlin Wall Essay The Berlin Wall Walls are one of man s oldest defenses; physical barriers that are erected to keep people out, or, in some cases, to keep them in. Walls are physical fortifications that create tension and distain among people on both sides. This is what the Berlin Wall, or der Mauer in German, was; a physical barrier created in Berlin, Germany during the Cold War. It was created by the East Germans in an attempt to stop East German citizens from immigrating to Western Germany. However, the Berlin wall was a crude attempt to separate the political and social variances in Germany during the Cold War, because, while it created a physical barrier, it still was unable separate people in an ethic manor. Notably, before the walls creation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Physically it was a 13ft high wall topped with barbed wire which extended 27 miles through the center of the city (Raichelle). This large barrier came equipped with guards, and only had a small gate termed Checkpoint Charlie, which was reserved for military and diplomatic use between the two sides (Tucker). The wall was the tall divider of people; of families and friends, as it was created to keep people from leaving. After its construction, The Wall separated the two sides, but also created more issues than it solved. For instance, between 1961 and 1989, the East German guards shoot to kill order against refugees resulted in about 250 300 deaths ( Berlin Wall ). Those killed were most likely the artisans who desired to leave in the first place, or the people who were separated from their families in the initial construction of the Wall. Seeing as it also stretched through the center of the city, anyone caught on the wrong side was trapped there. They were stuck, forced to spend their days separated. If they attempted to leave, they could become part of the 200 people who were shot dead while attempting to scale the wall (Raichelle). However, despite this, thousands of East Germans still managed to escape across the barrier ( Cold War ). They left East Germanyfor the West; as the West had different ideals that allowed these citizens to have more freedoms. However, on November ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Importance Of Freedom In The United States Since this country s inception, America has been a haven of freedom for all its citizens. Beginning with the Pilgrims, who came to this new world in an effort to escape persecution for the fundamental aspects of their cultural identity. The Pilgrims show, that these freedoms existed even before this country decided to build its country foundation upon them. The men who founded this great nation, looked back in history as they penned what is now known as the Constitution. This unprecedented unionВґs law code was not brought to bear based entirely upon newly created principles. Rather, they employed principles from many other historical documents, including the Magna Carta, and George MasonВґs 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights. Shortly after the foundation of the country, the requisite for an iron willed leader arose. A retired general was called to the forefront of the newly created Union. General George Washingtonreluctantly accepted the power of the newly created office. In truth, he created the powers afforded to the vocation now known as president, it has even been said he had to decline the title of king. The first president served this country honorably, before stepping down after the conclusion of this second term. He had declined the title of king in name, and would now also decline the role of a despot by staying in power for more than two terms. This set a long precedent of self imposed term limits for presidents to come, a precedent that would last until the modern era of the presidency with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This Union was tested again during the Civil War. A time when slavery divided this country greatly. When, a single issue, threatened to break the bonds of patriotism. For it was Benjamin Franklin, who, when asked what type of government the nation would now have after the valiant victory years before in the American Revolution, he said, ВЁA republic, if you can keep it.ВЁ Though, for once in the nation s history, there was a legitimate fear that the bonds of our shared heritage could not save the republic from those that expressed an inclination to exacerbate the minimal contempts between the two factions. • 14. Unorganized Sports Introduction Youth participation in sport has become increasingly popular as time progresses, whether it is in an organized fashion (sports teams) or unorganized (playing outside at recess). There is approximately forty four million girls and boys currently [participating] in organized youth sport programs across the United States (Albrecht, 2010) and that number is probably only higher today. That is not even accounting for all the children that get together with their friends and head to a local park to play a game of touch football or their time at recess during the school day. Both unorganized play and organized sports are important for children to participate in because it allows them to grow as human beings by developing character... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without an adult, the game was left up to the children to decide. They had to decide whether the ball was in bounds or not; they would often make a fair call rather than trying to boost their own team. Unorganized sports allows them to learn fairness and equality because if they end up making the game unfair, the children would lose their friends to another game on the playground. The unorganized sports at recess had more laughter involved compared to the organized sports because the children were often playing with who they wanted to play with at recess (i.e. their best friends). The unorganized sports were more fun to the children because there was no pressure from their parents or coaches to be the best or to win; it was just for fun and to be active with their friends. The children were not forced to focus on what they were doing; they could take a break from the game and mess around with each other. Another thing that I noticed during unorganized sport observations was that the children made up rules as they went and as they needed the rules to be put in place instead of discussing all the rules at the beginning. With them making up rules as they went, it did cause problems because some of the children would say that is not how they play the sport being on an organized sports team. A majority of the children would talk about playing on a sports team, while they were playing at recess, so the rules of both would cause conflict. When conflict arrives, the children would have to problem solve himself or herself without a coach or referee to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The use of cinematography works through the film using narration, camera motions, and angles to show to the uniqueness and differ from other films. Memento s organization of scenes and use of close ups give the audiencetheir own idea and thought the process to create a relation to the character and to try to understand him. At the start of the film, the story is shown to be presented backward as one scene is color and another in black and white, and narrated in two different ways. In the beginning scenes, there is an introduction of a Polaroid fading back to white and blood running up the walls which correlates to Leonard s memory and how the fading polaroid relates to his fading memories. There is a close up on these scenes showing that the film is concentrating on this intensely, which captures the attention of the audience. Memento s editing structure connects to Leonard s personality by showing close ups of his tattoos and polaroids. This relates to the plot as important information is revealed from his mini notes on each picture, such as the Don t believe his lies or He s the one, kill him which ultimately lead to Teddy s death. What Leonard wrote regarding Teddy stains the relationship they have and causes Leonard to misunderstand his relation with Teddy. Other close ups are the shots of tattoos, where one was Remember Sammy Jankis which shows as a constant reminder of his situation and medical condition, but also give the audience a sympathetic feeling toward his past. The little notes Leonard gives himself convinces him that he is on the right path, however, as the audience, we can tell that the information he is receiving is skewed. The constant reminder from the close ups shows Leonard s reasoning of the motivations for his actions, although his constant need for his notes and living the way he does gives off the idea that he is unstable. Leonard s close up in the mirror of the reflection of his tattoo John G. raped and murdered my wife shows the audience what his motive and desires are without needing Leonard s narration for this. Several of my family members owned homes then, but looking back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this day I do not know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize my situation could have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a homesomeday like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a growing society its citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same outcomes and flourish. Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from: First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into everything you can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be able to expand your research with two different points of views and get more results. Don t depend on Wall Street and their outlooks for the futurebecause in reality it is a game of chances. Just because someone says jump off a bridge into shallow water because you won t drown would you do it? The people on Wall Street and those in charge (unless psychic) can t predict the future. One of the solutions that have been considered is lowering the voting age to 16 to get younger Americans votes. However many Americans think that this is crazy to allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote. The clear and only answer to this contentious question is that 16 and 17 year olds should not be able to vote. Prior to this industrial growth the work force was mainly based in agriculture, especially in the South ( Industrial Revolution ). The advancement in machinery and manufacturing on a large scale changed the structure of the work force. Families began to leave the farm and relocate to larger settings to work in the ever growing industries. One area that saw a major change in the work force was textile manufacturing. These cottage industries were all that was needed at the time. After the Civil War, the South did not want to rely upon the North for all their textile needs despite the North being the major textile manufacturer at that time. More and more factories were built in the South. Cotton mills were built along rivers for their hydropower, usually in rural areas (Glass 14). Mills were also commonly located near railroads to send their finished products throughout the states (Ulrich 15). Mill owners did not rely slave labor for their work force. The price of purchasing enough slaves to fill the many factory positions was too high. This objection also had racist undertones as well as economic ones. It was believed by some at that time that slaves were not smart enough to learn even the simplest of tasks. Also it was illegal to teach a slave a trade, even one as simple as spinning yarn (Glass 19). Factory owners were forced to rely on the poor people in the surrounding areas for their workforce, especially women and children. While the new textile industry was growing, the agricultural economy at the time was stagnant. It became harder and harder for farmers to pay off their debts. Many farmers lost their land and had to find a new means to support themselves and their families. The factories and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Era Of The 19th Century Europe faced an era of revolutions at the wake of the nineteenth century. Long standing empires, which had traditionally controlled most of the world including the Spanish, Chinese, French, and Holy Roman Empires , collapsed at the beginning of the century, allowing the British Empire to rise to power and establish dominance over a fifth of the Earth s surface. This political revolution was coupled with the industrial revolution. New manufacturing processes called for large industrial factories to replace domestic production. Technological gains were made in textile manufacturing, steam power, and iron making. The standard of living and literacy rates increased due to new advances in technology and industrial printing. The nineteenth century, with the invention of the microscope, became a period of scientific discoveries and debate. This era of scientific upheaval was fueled by the challenges to Genesis and the Scala Naturae and the emergence of secularism. Naturalists focused on macrobiological concepts, such as Lamarck and Cuvier who debated the fixity (or lack there of) of species, as well as microbiological concepts, such as Schleiden and Schwann and the development of the Cell Theory. One such naturalist was Louis Pasteur. Pasteur was able to take advantage of the microscope and formulate the Germ Theory of Disease in 1861, which states that microorganisms are the cause of disease. • 36. Public Sphere As A Place Open I define a public sphere as a place open to all people, where important topics can be discussed, opinions can be heard, and organization of action can take place. Over the last several years the social media phenomenon has led to expansion of the public sphere, with Twitter and Facebook becoming key components of the contemporary public sphere. These expansions of the public sphere still have several advantages but due to barriers, algorithms, and government intervention, the social media public sphere is shrinking. In this essay I will be focusing on two online public spheres, Twitter and Facebook, as journalism has been increasingly moving online (Hayes, 2013). To begin I will clarify why I believe the contemporary public sphere is entirely online. Every person in this world belongs to several groups, as groups can be based on anything; religion, family, class, status, age, gender, occupation race, interest, or geographic location. As stated by Bernays, these groups teach us to accept a standardized code of social conduct to which we conform most of the time. Groups shape our opinions on what we see as important (Bernays, 1928). Due to homophily, which states that we spend most time with like minded people, many of the people we have strong ties with have the same opinions as us because they fall into the same groups (Steenson, 2014). Public spheres are spaces that allow people to come together to identify and discuss societal problems and impact political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Analysis Of Black Music By Amiri Baraka Jazz was born in New Orleans and has been with us for more than half a century (Helm 1). Jazz has grown popular in the eyes of critics. This makes it easy for many people to have access to it and have their own views tainted by the opinion of others. Amiri Baraka, formerly known as LeRoi Jones, wrote about the negative sides to having white critics write on Jazz. This is important because in his writing Jones discussed musiccritics not understanding the true meaning of the song. Amiri Barakas theory of music critics is correct because it sheds light on how music critics have had a hand in changing Jazz. In his writing Black Music, Amiri Baraka feels as the Jazz critics are missing the true meaning of the lyrics and are only viewing one side of the piece and not the deeper meaning. In his writing, Jazz, the Critics, and American Art Music in the 1920s, Mary Herron Dupree states agree with Baraka when she states, The discussion of jazz and its relationship to art music began slowly in periodicals in 1921 and by 1924 was intense (288). In other words, Jazz has seen an increase in popularity as the years have gone by. While the popularity began to increase Jazz culture also began to see new faces. • 40. Empowerment Theory Empowerment as a goal in feminist therapy is achieved by reframing and reconceptualizing psychopathology as an external patriarchal social structure. The concept of psychopathology is generally avoided in feminist therapy. Instead, feminist therapy uses the terms distress (subjective experience of misplaced well being) and dysfunction (ways of being that created life difficulties; Brown, 2010). Shifting the blame to uncontrollable forces can be empowering for the client. The experience of powerlessness and disempowerment are central to occurrence of distress and dysfunction. The biological basis approach tries to account for the mechanisms between genes and personality by looking at various different brain structures whilst the biochemical approach looks at the impact of hormones and neurotransmitters. The majority of our understanding of personality from a biological perspective focuses on the three main behavioural systems; the reward system, the motivation system and the punishment system. Within this essay I will be discussing the three main theories that have come from these ideas, Eyenck s three factor model, Gray s reinforcement sensitivity theory (RST) and Cloningers model of personality. Human DNA is composed of roughly 30,000 genes composed of around 3 million base pairs and 99% of these are universally identical for everyone meaning they cannot be the source of personality differences in people. This suggests that the remaining genes are genetic mutations or polymorphisms, which have an influence on personality, and the biological approach uses three main methods to try and determine what % of individual differences in a trait can be attributed to genes and what % is a response to the environment. Family studies are a commonly used method as they correlate the degree of genetic overlap between family members with the degree of similarity in personality traits.
