An Investigation On American Civil Union
According to police, officers nobody has the right to record. Whether it is publicly, or an
investigation being done outside on the street. Now a days we do not have the right to do
anything outside in the public. My question is why? If we all have the right to do whatever we
want. Many city journalists even people have been arrested for not even committing a crime but
simply filming. You would ask me is this right? Well I would say no it is not right. According to
the law which truly states ( Know Your Rights: Photographers. American Civil Union. ACLU,
July 2014. Web. 3 Sep 2014). That we all have the right to photograph, and film while being in
public being anywhere and at any time. The video I selected talks about how a civilian is having a
discussion with a policeofficer and how the police officersays he is not allowed to film. Watching
the video made me see how police officers don t respect at all. They tend to lie a lot and change
everything around when another police officer comes to help them out. They harass and detain
people with unnecessary reasons.
Although police officers tend to know about the law seems like they really need to get a recap
about what the law states. I believe police officers are there to protect and watch over the public.
But to react in a way that is erroneous and so unfair is just not accurate for me. The video I watch
is about a civilian who was filming traffic stop. The officer approaches him and tells the civilian to
put his camera

Human Trophic Level
Human Trophic Lab
2. Humans belong to the consumer level, both primary and secondary and beyond which means we
are considered omnivores that eat plants and animals. Humans and other animals can belong to
more than one trophic level. Depending on what you eat and what you can eat, you may be placed
in a different level depending on the circumstance. Organisms of different different metabolisms
and lifestyles may be on the same level, thus trophic levels cannot indicate characteristics of
organisms in a certain level. As organisms mature, they may change their feeding habits which
cannot be classified under one level. In general, trophic levels generalizes ecosystem relationships
because they cannot be diagrammed.

Vegetarianism is more efficient from production to consumption because there is less waste and
the ratio of energy intake compared to gross production is much greater for plants than animals.
Meat prices more drastically compared to those of fruits and veggies. You can grow your own
fruits and veggies in your backyard with relatively little space and resources compared to trying
to raise your own livestock. Vegetarianism may lead to a deficinacy of vitamins and minerals
including iron, B 12, and protein. You can also be lacking in calories in general and may be more
tired because many vegetarian foods are not as calorie dense. Eating vegetarian can also be
difficult depending on where you live.
9. Buy local or buy fair trade options. Only eat foods that are in season. Increase your plant to
meat ratio when eating. Eat less processed foods. Use applicances that are more energy efficent
when storing and preparing foods. Encourage farmers to pass through their fields as less as
possible. I think the most energy savings would be at the beginning of the process starting with
farmers. Personal decisions would also create savings maybe not so much on personal level, but on
a national or international

could expect to receive blame and hate from those of other races that he is trying help. 3. Who did

Comparing Nature in Wordsworth’s Ruined Cottage, and...
Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of
the Ancient Mariner
For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s
existence could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature
surrounding it. William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other
Romantic poets, and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity.
Specifically, Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage and Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
share the theme of nature affecting man, although essential differences exist in their ideas
regarding how it affects man. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth explains his choice in his preface to Lyrical Ballads, one of his most significant
projects co created with Coleridge: the principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these
poems was to choose incidents and situations from common life...because in that condition the
passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature (Wordsworth
241). This explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the
case of The Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of
the peddler s story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life.
Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man,
Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its
purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his
supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after
needlessly killing an albatross. Watson describes Coleridge s nature as changer and enchanter,
supplying qualities of light unknown before. So the poet, by the power of his imagination, changes
the familiar into something rich and strange...Rime is filled with images that we recognize but
which are transformed by the context and narrative... (158). Coleridge recreates the sea and

The overall Business Strategy of Costco encompasses ultra low prices, limited selection of
nationally branded and private label products, treasure hunt shopping environment, low operating

volumes and fast inventory turnover, Costco is able to maintain good working capital. This allows

P3=Describe the operation of one seal, one type of packing and two different types of bearing,
giving a typical application for each one.
Task 1
A seal used in a vehicle A head gasket is a seal mechanically made to fill in space between two or
more mating surfaces, generally to stop leakage going from or into the joint objects while it is
under compression. This type of gasket (head gasket) sits between the engine block and the cylinder
head in an internal combustion engine. The cylinder is used to make sure the maximum
compression and avoiding of leakage is succeeded of the coolant engine oil into the cylinders as
such it is the most critical sealing used in the automobile and in any engine, As part of the
combustion chamber components. This type of gasket is made up of three layers of steel. The
contact faces are usually coated with a rubberish coating such as Viton that fits nicely with the
cylinder block and the cylinder head while the thicker centre layer is left bare. A gasket is mainly
used in car engines they are also used in different locations in the car to fill the gaps between many
things and not losing the oil. But in this case, it is used between the engine block and the cylinder.

Hyperbole Twelfth Night
The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms.
Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola,
finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a
position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and
falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent
towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because
she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls
in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable.
These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel
plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting
personal morals from the text.
Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters
begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to
force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels
for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the
extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all
supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses
hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the
reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to
portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion
but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she
openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that
Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which
now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly

An estimated 168 million children worldwide are engaged in child labor. Nearly 60% of the
children are doing hazardous work that directly harms their health, safety, and moral development.
Most child laborers worked in the fields. Some fought; and others became slaves. In the fictional
novel Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo, there are three main problems leading to the loss of
childhood. Becoming an enslaved child, being forced into labor, losing their innocence by killing,

The Story Of A Woman Essay
A woman is standing in her kitchen, cooking dinner for her husband and her three children. She
has many things on her mind other than food: her children, her health, her life. During her
distraction, the bread that she had put in the oven to toast begins to burn and it smells of smoke
in the kitchen. She desperately pulls the pan out of the oven and begins to fan the bread, hoping
that her husband in the living room does not smell it. Her husband enters the kitchen, smells the
remnants of the smoke, and walks slowly over to her. She uses her body to shield the seared
bread while realizing that the relief she just felt is gone. Her husband asks what happened and
she opens her mouth to answer...when he smacks her across the face. Can you ever do anything
right?! he yells. The children glance in through the open door, then scatter when they see their
mom s wide eyed expression. The bruise begins to form already and the scar tissue around her
broken heart opens back up again. This, unfortunately, is a reality for many women around the
world, especially in the United States. They live in fear every day, wondering if today is the day
that their spouse will end their lives. Others endure endless verbal abuse, killing their self esteem
and their will to live. Domestic violenceis an epidemic that is on the rise around the world. We must
come together and propose a solution to help women feel safe and secure in their homes and in
their relationships. Per the National Coalition

A threat is anything that represents a risk to information property. There are many several threats
that represent a persistent danger to people and organizations information assets. In this report, I
will cover four remarkable threats and their countermeasures. These threats are Security threats,
Netiquette threats, Privacy threats, and Ethics threats.
A Security threat is any form of security violations that may include any of the following: viruses,

education. For example, assignments submitted by students may turn out to be copied from
associate students or could be taken over, in part or in whole, from existing published works.
Also, break copyright and software theft. For example, throughout the society, it is well known
that the illegal copying of copyrighted media (texts, music works, movies and software programs)
is widespread. Furthermore, many people who engage in such activity do not consider themselves
to be doing something that is immoral. Therefore, students and staff may have authorized access to
computer resources, but then go on to use these resources improperly. They may have a school

Cacao Influence On Mayan Culture
At first consideration, chocolate and the Maya peoples do not appear to be related in any
manner, but this could not be farther from the truth. Cacao, the tree from which chocolate is
processed, is heavily intertwined in the religious and secular lives of the Maya, in the past as well
as the present. Chocolate, as we know it today, too was born from the Maya and their contact with
the Europeans, perhaps the only good thing to come from the interactions. Thanks to the
Europeans, cacao has impacted the rest of the world in as great a manner as it impacted the Maya.
The Maya were, and are, a group of Mesoamericans whose settlements spanned from Mexico to
Belize, beginning as early as 1500 B.C.E (Maya People). According to a display at the ki

Essay On Native American Tribal Music
Music is one of the most influential parts of cultures all over the world, but to the Native Americans
it is pivotal. Native American tribal music is a very important part of most Native Americans
history, culture, and societies.
Music is an extremely important role of Native American culture and history. Generally, it was one
of the only methods that they had as a way to pass down traditions and their history from generation
to generation. There wasn t very much documentation of their history until validation from English
settlers, other than some archeological evidence of musical instruments and depictions of music
that have been dated as far back as the 7th Century. There were typically two types of songs that
the tribes would pass down, and they would be either public songs or private songs. Public songs
were often historical, and could be retold into many different versions which often gave the songs
different meanings. But the private songs were unchanged through the history and kept those tribes
history/culture intact forever. There were primarily six different areas of music in the United States
where different tribes resided. The main characteristics of all of these diverse areas were that they
were based on singing and percussion. The vocalization of these tribes range from solos, chorales,
unison, and multipart singing. Percussion was also very common, and the use of drums and rattles
were used to keep a steady beat for singers. Flutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The True Disillusionment Of The American Dream
As a child, did you ever dream about something huge, like becoming a movie star or owning your
own mansion? Did this dream come true? For many people living in the 1930 s, as well as in Of
Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, their dream did not come true. Many people in this time
period believed that they could prosper and become successful; they believed in the American
Dream. Steinbeck shows the true disillusionment of the American Dream through his characters
in his novel. Steinbeck uses Curley s wife to show the failure of a Hollywood version of the
American Dream. Curley s wife was a small town girl who truly believed she could make it big
in Hollywood. She always wore fancy clothes, like a red cotton dress and red mules... (Steinbeck

An a guy tol me he could put me in pitchers... (Steinbeck 78). This gives the reader a feel of her
disappointment that she is just a wife of a rancher, instead of a famous movie star. Later on,

Everyman Play
Everyman is a fantastic work of art by an unknown source. It has such a strong, parallel to
society as well as biblical stories. Imagination can often run wild when you try and get inside the
head of an unknown author. So many details become extinct whenever this is the case because
you do not know the world that the particular author is living in. The time period paints a picture
and a connection to the piece that has been written. All of these things translate and add up to tell
a story, which brings me to the other important aspect of a play to discuss: the theme. The time
period of this play sticks out almost immediately after reading the first few pages. The language

As Fellowship comes along, he leads Everyman on to think that he will be the greatest
companion that he will be able to find. As Everyman continues to relay the importance of his
journey, Fellowship then says: That is matter indeed, Promise is duty. (Everyman) Once
Everyman begins to tell him the journey he is about to partake in and that he has been called by
death, Fellowship suddenly feels the need to back out. He basically states that if it were some
other way then he would consider it, but for his best interest he will not be joining him for the
journey that death has called him on. This is showing a decision between choosing to do the
right thing or the wrong thing for someone and how the moral compass can be swayed by the
selfishness of another individual. This happens several different times with many other friends
that come along such as kindred, cousin, Goods and riches, Good deeds, knowledge, etc. They
all are initially on board for the journey until he reveals the truth about what they will need to
embrace which is death, and that is when he cut their ties and send him on his way again. This is
a prime example of a morality play, and upon realizing that this is a morality play it then explains
the time period in which the plays world is set in which is the fifteenth century. Also, another way
of realizing the time period is because in morality plays they are generally focused on the
justification by works which is something that was practiced in the pre reformation. Post
reformation has a completely different outlook on receiving this sort of

Shinto has no concept of sin, but rather it teaches that evil actions can contaminate individuals
by causing them to accrue impurities that poison innocence and offend the Kami. To rid one s
self of these impurities, Shintoism prescribes ritual washings in natural phenomena like a large
source of flowing water or salt. The symbolism of water recognizes that the purification process
is letting the person previous sins and acts of uncleanliness flow out of their soul and allowing
the Kami, in this case water spirit, to carry it away. The uses of salt could be applied to purify
the land before any use such as agriculture or construction of buildings. The rituals of purification
do not apply to only individuals and groups, but to the christening of new buildings and the start
of a new business or a change in government officials. A high priest, who calls out to the Kami,
performs most rituals where large groups are involved to request the Maiden of the Descent into
the Current, Maiden of the Swift Cleaning, the lord of the Breath blowing place, and the Maiden
of Swift Banishment to wash away, gulp down, blow away, and to abolish away the sins of the
group to purify their minds and souls. (The Yengishiki

Biography Of William Butler Yeats s Cathleen Ni Houlihan
William Butler Yeats was an Irish born poet and perhaps one of the most important figures in the
history of Ireland for the 20th century. He was a prominent figure in the revival of the Irish
literacy and in particular through his poetic theater he was able to bring forth a new vision of
Ireland. His play, Cathleen ni Houlihan, is an accurate depiction of the message he wanted to
convey. He used drama to convey ongoing social problems during the era of British colonial rule.
Through that other prominent figures such as Patrick Pearse appeared into the movement for Irish
Freedom. Through his work, Pearse was also able to influence
As described in, The Journal s article on Cathleen ni Houlihan, Yeats led a colonization in reverse .
What Yeats wanted to accomplish was to eliminate the presence of the British in Ireland. William
Butler Yeatswas born as a wealthy protestant, a minority group in the country. Even though he did
not speak Gaelic he wanted to connect with the people of his country and did not want to associate
with the British culture. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Yeats thought that literature and
poetry was a way to fill the political void left by the death of Irish political leader Charles Stewart.
Through the years, Yeats rolled out various numbers of plays and poems with the most important
one perhaps being Cathleen ni Houlihan.

Imagery And Their Mind Through Descriptions And Sensory...
Imagery is the use of language to create mental pictures in one s mind through descriptions and
sensory perceptions (Wheeler). In Digging, Heaney establishes the setting of the poem by
describing that he is in what seems to be a room with a window that overlooks an area of green.
He starts the poem off with Between my finger and my thumb / The squat pen rests; snug as a
gun. / Under my window, a clean rasping sound / When the spade sinks into gravelly ground:
/ My father, digging. I look down ( Digging ). He uses the appeals to sound, as in a clean rasping
sound and the spade sinks into gravelly ground, as well as appeals to sight, I look down, and
appeals to touch, [b]etween my finger and my thumb, to create an image in the reader s mind of
what that day, or perhaps thought, looked like. The image that is created is one that shows
contrast, in this case between an unidentified narrator and his father. As the poem continues,
Heaney describes But I ve no spade to follow men like them. / Between my finger and my thumb
/ The squat pen rests. / I ll dig with it. The contrast that this furthers is the idea that the narrator is
very different from his father, creating a divide that can be the start of tension. Because the narrator
and his father cannot necessarily understand each other due to these differences, as each chooses
his different approach to digging, the narrator seems to understand that not much can be done about
the father s choice to remain a

The Impact Of Alexander I On Russia
Alexander I was the Tsar at the time Napoleon marched his Grand Army of more than 600,000 men

resistance and outstanding endurance that ensued by the entirety of the population. The Russians
retreated for much of the war and the French advanced at a quick and efficient pace, conquering
much of Russiaon the way to Moscow. Napoleon was under the impression that once Moscow had
been captured and occupied, the Tsar would capitulate. However, this was not the case.
On September 14, 1812, what is now known as the Fire of Moscow broke out. The majority of

Joseph Campbell s Theory Of The Monomyth
What makes a hero? In our current society we tend to have a certain perception on the
fundamentals of what it is to make or be a hero. Through the hit action movies that hit the box
office every year, to the firefighter that risks his life to save a child stuck in a burning house. It is
highly doubtful that anyone would disagree that a that such a fireman is not regarded as a hero. Yet,
when looking into our past and the myths that we hold close to our hearts as well as those that
ancient civilizations held in their beliefs can we categorize all of these heroes into a formula?
Joseph Campbell, a philosopher in the mid 20th century came up with a theory that shows the cycle
of what it takes to become a hero. In understanding his theory this... Show more content on

Abstract Location based services and location tacking applications are gaining much popularity

Summary Of Man Ray s Disarming Venuses
In the essay, Man Ray s Disarming Venuses: Deconstructing the Classical Torso in Surrealist
Photography, the author, Kirsten A. Hoving, examines photographs created by Man Ray and how it
relates to the classical Venus sculptures. By using Man Ray s idea of deconstructing the classical
female torso in fragments, body doubling corsets, and formless figures, the author argues how those
characteristics communicate the meaning of eroticism and power within Surrealist photography
and literature. Within the first argument, the author explains how the Surrealist artists drew their
inspiration of the female torso from the ancient mythological god, Venus. Hoving noted that the
artists explored ways which the human body can appear as fragments and how it could be used
systematically. Hoving stated how the Surrealist found the female torso as a metaphor and
metamorphosis (123). The Surrealist artist went further through the exploration of the human
figure, and shocking the viewers in their depiction of mutilated, or distorted bodies. In the 1930s,
such visions have had provided the artist due to the horrors that were placed upon World War I

Essay about Terror in Spielberg s Jaws
Terror in Spielberg s Jaws
The film Jaws exemplifies the statement Sublime terror rests in the unseen the ultimate horror .
Some people would say that dismemberment and gore is needed to terrorise an audience, but this
only shocks and disgusts viewers. A horror film should therefore make the audience imagine the
terror in order to maximise the fear factor.
Many horror films nowadays use similar techniques to those used by Spielberg in the film Jaws .
They use techniques such as framing and mise en scene in order to create something called safe
space and unsafe space. Safe space is the space that the camera is looking at. It is where there is no

The shower scene only lasts about a minute, but is made of about eighty shots. This effect has
made this scene a very famous one because of the way it creates tension and frightens the audience.
In the film Jaws , the vast ocean is the unsafe space with the shark moving around it. The use of
safe and unsafe space helps create and build up tension. At the beginning of the film Jaws , the
shark s attacks are close by to the shore, which shows us that the shallow water cannot stop it
from attacking people. But as the film persists, the shark attacks are out in the middle of the ocean
and from the moment the characters leave the beach to go hunting, they are cut off from the rest
of the characters. This is where the mise en scene technique is most used in the film. The shark
cannot be seen as it is a vast ocean and it could jump out unexpectedly of at any time from any
direction at the characters, which would destroy the safe space.
The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, a well known director in Hollywood and a splendid
director throughout his filming career. The film was produced by David Brown and Richard D.
Zanuck in 1975. The film lasts 93 minutes and is rated as a 12. The idea of creating this film
came from the book Jaws written by Peter Benchley. Like many of Spielberg s films, the film Jaws

One of these conventions included the convention of props. In a particular part of the scene.
Johnnie picks up a kewpie doll and messes around with it like an illegitimate souvenir. From this
particular part from this scene. Bubba s concern rises from Johnnie describing the dolls as well
as the summer dream as a joke or an unworthy dream. Another convention that was used was the
convention of realistic language. When the argument breaks out the two character cannot over
exaggerate their voices otherwise it ruins the purpose of realism theatre. Instead the voices had
to be slightly raised in dynamics and in pitch which will make it as realistic as possible. Also the
use of subtext in the scene gave the scene more meaning and it also addressed the concern for my
character as the subtext within the other character shows what he really means. Furthermore
conventions of realism that acknowledged the directorial focus for our scene included the
convention of believable character. To make the scene work under realism theatre, characters
need to be relatable and believable to the audience. Since our directorial focus is the betrayal of
family and creating a new dream the audience must relate to this focus as well as the characters.
Another convention of realism theatre is the convention of a Super Objective. This gives the
characters a deeper purpose to this scene. In my case, my Super Objective

Primary Causes Of Constipation
Review of Literature
Constipation is a common, yet complex symptom that may be idiopathic or manifest secondary to
an underlying disorder. While it is generally not life threatening on its own, constipation has a
significant adverse impact on the comfort and quality of life clinically affecting about 10 19% of
the American population at any one time (Smeltzer, Bare, Hinkle Cheever, 2013, p.1286). A
symptom rather than a disease, causation is defined as either primary or secondary. Primary causes
relate to the dysfunction of colonic motility, defecation, or both. Secondary causes of constipation
are related to medications, lifestyle, neuropathological problems, endocrine disturbances, metabolic
or may be related to neuropathological issues (Andrews Storr, 2011, p.16B; Marples, 2011, p.41).
There are two criteria that are used in the canon of literature related to chronic constipation. The
American College of Gastroenterology defines constipation as a symptom based disorder
characterized by unsatisfactory defecation due to infrequent stools, difficult stool passage, or both
(Gallegos Orozco, Foxx Orenstein, Sterler Stoa, 2012, p.18). Used for symptoms that are ... Show

The Chesapeake Bay Watershed
Nowadays, people stay away from analyzing how their actions impact the environment producing
long lasting consequences. The opportunity to act is right where anyone stands and the closest one
to this area is known as the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Therefore, the amount of nutrients going
into the Chesapeake Bay should be reduced since the use of fertilizers has increased dramatically
over time causing water pollutionand the death of many species.
The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is the largest one in the Atlantic Seaboard of North America; it
covers 64,000 square miles of the United States, starting from the bottom of New York and flowing
all the way to the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia. It encompasses the entire District of Columbia and

Even though, fertilizers are needed to supply essential nutrients to the growth of plants; an excess
of them is one of the major issues contributing to pollution in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
Fertilizers are mainly composed of two elements: nitrogen and phosphorus.(4) Throughout the
years, millions of pounds of this nutrients are applied all around the Chesapeake Bay Watershed;
everything not absorbed by the soil or taken up by plants eventually reaches the Chesapeake Bay
through storm water runoff. This nutrients end up creating algae blooms in the water, which
reduce the amount of sunlight available to underwater grasses; not allowing plants to
photosynthesize and produce the food they need to survive. Algae then decomposes creating dead
zones killing fish and other species since oxygen is needed for any organism to live. (5) Building
additional vegetation areas to create green filters is a solution that will decrease the amount of
pollutants in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. This will be effective given the fact that soil has the
ability of breaking down nutrients into harmless substances and plants are able to facilitate the
process of water infiltrating back into the ground and stopping storm water runoff. Thus, more
green areas will be able to retain and control the amount of pollutants going into the bay. This

Comparing The Earl Of Rochester And The Imperfect Enjoyment
Literature of the English Restoration offers the example of a number of writers who wrote for a
courtly audience: literary production, particularly in learned imitation of classical models, was
part of the court culture of King Charles II. The fact of a shared model explains the remarkable
similarities between The Imperfect Enjoyment by the Earl of Rochester and The Disappointment
by Aphra Behn remarkable only because readers are surprised to read one poem about male sexual
impotence from the late seventeenth century, let alone two examples of this genre by well known
courtly writers. In fact, Richard Quaintance presents ten more examples by lesser known poets as
he defines the literary sub genre of the neo Classical imperfect... Show more content on

Male sexual impotence would seem at first to be an unpromising subject for poetry, especially
poetry which could loosely be defined as neo Classical and is based on compositional models
from the Classical world of ancient Greece and Rome. Yet scholars such as Richard Quaintance
and Claude Rawson have traced the history of a literary sub genre within the neo Classical
tradition that does deal with male sexual impotence, whether through failure to achieve erection or
through premature ejaculation. This literary sub genre includes Restoration poems like Aphra
Behn s The Disappointment and the Earl of Rochester s Imperfect Enjoyment, and Quaintance in
fact dubs the genre the neo Classical imperfect enjoyment poem after Rochester s title. Quaintance
situates both Rochester and Behn within French neo Classical models (Quaintance 190), but
actual Latin works were their ultimate models: Rawson notes that Ovid himself had written a
poem on the subject in his third book of love elegies, Amores III.vii, and Petronius, the great
courtier satirist of Nero s Rome, had structured his Satyricon as a parody of Homer s Odyssey but
where Odysseus is pursued by the wrath of Poseidon, God of the Sea, the protagonist

The Syrian Vigil
On the day of February 12, 2015, the then called the Islamic State of Syria released a video of
themselves savagely beheading 21 Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Christians in which were
kidnapped. This event shook my friends and family, as I myself am a Coptic Christian. This was
not the first time these barbarians have murdered simply due to the fact that their prey if you will,
did not share their beliefs. These incredibly faithful individuals were willing to die by the hand of
the sword in order to preserve their doctrine. This could not go unnoticed, and the entire Coptic
Community had decided that this cannot keep happening. The youth and I at the local Coptic

businesses. The last second location change wasn t pleasant either. However, it was
unquestionably worth it. We also were faced with the challenge of people who were not
understanding of our cause, as some even cursed at us. On the other hand, all our troubles seemed
to fade, as the love and support from our community was felt, and we were able to send the money

Hard to find , Everything That Rises Must Converge . You can never forget the time you re living
in because the past is the past and it will never come back. So to adjust your philosophy and
creativity in fashion to the time you re living in is the most important thing. Donatella Versace
In each of Flannery O Connor s stories there is a very different perspectives in the stories also in
the different time periods. Each of these women bring a very different look on life. This is not
always a good thing. We see that some of these women only want to dwell in the past, to never
move forward, always hoping to move backwards instead. They are still living in the past
because the present and the future seem scary. O Connor introduces Mrs. Hopewell, the
Grandmother, and Julian s Mother who are main characters in her stories. Each of these women
believe in something that does not exist anymore. O Connor does not allow us the privilege of
knowing their first name or even much about these ladies. Each of these women show people their
southern take on the world which conveys an extremely patronizing attitude on life. Their world is
changing and if they wanted to they could have grabbed ahold of it. They have a chance to
explore these new changes although they seem unwilling. The O Connor s stories we see Mrs.

Cause And Effect Essay On Smoking
Smoking is a habit of inhaling and exhaling the smoke of tobacco or a drug. Smoking cigarettes is
the inhalation of the smoke of burned tobacco that may occur occasionally or habitually because of
a physical addiction to some chemicals, primarily nicotine. It causes many different diseases such as
acute myeloid leukemia, cataract, cervical cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, pneumonia,
periodontitis, stomach cancer etc. Tabaco like many other drugs contains over 60 known cancer
causing chemicals that affect organs inside your body.
The topic that will be discussed and analysed today are what effects of smoking cigarettes have on
smokers, on other people that live with them, and the effects on unborn children if their mothers are
smoking during their pregnancies. This issue analysis will cover the problem in depth and why
smoking should be illegal and prohibit.
Firstly, the effects of smoking cigarettes have on smokers. Nicotine can enter the human body
through lungs, skin and mucous membrane. It easily absorbed into the blood through the vessels
and spreads out throughout the body. Chemicals that are in the cigarettes reduce receptor s
sensitivity that s why people don t feel the disgusting smoke and taste while or after smoking.
Smokers inhale about 7,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many of these chemicals come from
burning tobacco leaves. Some of these compounds are chemically active and trigger profound and
damaging changes in the body. This is the reason that smoking is linked to diseases such as lung
cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and birth defects. Nicotine is the addictive drug in
tobacco smoke that cause smokers to continue to smoke. Addicted smokers need enough nicotine
over a day to satisfy cravings or control their mood. If they do not get enough nicotine they can be
angry, sad, stressed or just generally moody. Smokers have lots of trouble quitting for this exact
reason.
Secondly, the effect on people that live with or are around smokers. People that live with or
breath around smokers can be described as second hand smokers. Second hand smoke is the
smoke that comes out of the lit end of a cigarette and that a smoker exhales. Second hand smoke is
also called passive smoke,

Shakespeare s King Lear
The Characters of Goneril and Cordelia in King Lear
Nothing makes a story like a good villain, or in this case, good villainess. They are the people we
love to hate and yearn to watch burn. Goneril, of Shakespeare s King Lear, is no exception. Her
evils flamed from the very beginning of the play with her lack of sincerity in professing her love
for her father:
Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter; Dearer than eyesight, space, and liberty;
Beyond what can be valued, rich or rare; No less than life, with grace, health, beauty, honour; As
much as child e er loved, or father found; A love that makes breath poor, and speech unable.
Beyond all manner of so much I love you. (I.i. 56 62)

I think the time I would say I felt sympathy for her was when she killed herself because she saw
the person she had become, in a matter of speaking. This shed some light in that we must come
face to face with the question of if she regretted her actions, and SOMEWHERE deep down inside,
her icy heart was beginning to thaw. To some degree, I find her a tragic character in this regard.
Could she have redeemed herself if she had lived? Did she really deserve to die?
Cordelia is the epitome of goodness in Shakespeare s King Lear. What shall Cordelia speak?/ Love,
and be silent (I.i.63 64). These words echo a reminiscent time when loyalty to the king and one s
father was paramount. King Lear, Cordelia s father, planned on dividing his land among his
three daughters, but for a price, the price of their love. While her sisters exaggerated their love
for their father to win the prize, Cordelia stayed true to herself and her loyalty to Lear by not
making a mockery out of her feelings for him and playing it cool. She was also not characterized
by her openness of her feelings. She was a quiet girl who kept emotions locked inside. Even so,
Lear got angry at her response and disowned her. Why such a brutal attack on his daughter?
Cordelia is known to be Lear s favorite and he had hoped that he could give her the largest piece of
land so he could reside on it with her, but the plan failed. Overall, the King s decision lead him and

Brick Street Arts Bash Business Analysis
Despite the somewhat cold weather, downtown Marietta radiated a vibrant atmosphere on April 22
for the inaugural Brick Street Arts Bash. In coordination with Marshall Kimball and the Marietta
College Music Department, along with the Leader in Residence program through the McDonough
Center, the People s Bank Theater contributed tremendously to the success of the festival;
predominantly in terms of publicizing to the community and offering a performance venue. Within
this essay, I will discuss how the People s Bank Theatre exhibited Drucker s idea of social
responsibility, as described by William Cohen, with specific regard to its involvement with the
Brick Street Arts Bash.
To begin, the idea of this event spawned from the brain of the Music Department chair Marshall
Kimball in his proposal for the Leader in Residence program. Initially a small event for arts
advocacy, the bash blossomed into a community wide event with three stages of live entertainment,
fantastic art displays, and a number of children s activities all for free. As the event grew into its
final product, the People s Bank Theatre cooperated quite nicely with the music department to
ensure success, whether it be passing out flyers in the program for other shows or providing the
performers a comfortable space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As defined by William Cohen, Drucker distinguished the four key themes of social responsibility
as, the inability of government to solve many social problems, the need for social responsibility to
be subordinate to the organization s mission, the opportunities for competitive advantage in social
responsibility, [and] the critical importance of leadership (Cohen 32). Each theme is present through
the People s Bank Theatre s involvement with this arts festival, however varying in

Middle Eastern Legends Myths
Middle Eastern Legends are stories that have been made up, they are about people and their
actions or deeds. These people have lived in more recent times and have been mentioned in
history. Some other characteristics of legends include exaggerated characters and events, focuses
on individuals and their accomplishments, and were once believed to be true. Myths answer
questions about how the natural world works and how we should treat each other. These stories
are usually set a long time ago, before history as we know was written. They also often use magic
or break natural law and provide the symbols by which cultures are organized. Fairy tales have
been around for a long time starting with oral tradition and have elements that were once believed...

Taking a Look at Human Factors
Human factors
Human factors are an accumulation of human performance and behaviour. Normally it is viewed
in a negative aspect, although it can also be very positive, such as flexibility. Human factors is
very complex, that is why there are many types of model to describe human factors. One of these
models is the SCHELL model , this model is used by International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO).
What this means is that the model gives an idea of the overview of human factors. The SCHELL
stands for:
S = software (procedures, policy and other aspects of work design)
C = Culture (organisational and cultural influencing interactions)
H = Hardware (equipment, tools and other technology)
E = Environment (environmental aspects in which work occurs)
L = Liveware (human aspects of work)
L = Liveware (the communication between co workers at work)
This model puts an emphasis how depended each individual behaviour or action is for how the
system is shaped. Any failures and/or mishap between the components can lead to chaotic situations.
As a military organisation or as an approved organisation, regular human factors skill based training
programs must be offered. Also know as Maintenance Error Management (MEM) for maintenance
personnel. The training should be based on providing safety critical staff with non technical skills
to manage consequences and prevention of human errors. This is to emphasise that making errors is
normal and expected however the consequences are just as

To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis Essay
Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird demonstrates organic unity through the use of literary tools to
create, maintain, and amplify the central theme. Lee constructs and develops the theme of social
inequality by employing dialogue, irony, and an extended metaphor. Through dialogue, the
townspeople show contempt for blacks, viewing them and anyone who treats them as equals as
inferior. This is evident in the analysis of the conversations of Bob Ewell, Mrs. Dubose, and
Francis Hancock where they refer to black peopleas uncivilized savages. Not only does Bob Ewell,
contribute to the theme through his dialogue, but his full name of Robert E. Lee Ewell provokes
irony that clarifies the racist undertones of the novel. Moreover, irony functions... Show more

Not only do the townspeople treat blacks as inferior but they also dislike those who defend
blacks. As a result, when Atticus receives Tom Robinson s case and decides to defend Tom to
the best of his abilities, the community curses Atticus. Offended by the fact that Atticus plans to
defend Tom, Miss Stephanie calls him a nigger lovin bastard (Lee 248). Likewise, Mrs. Dubose
says Atticus is no better than the niggers and trash he works for (Lee 117). Even Atticus family
disapproves of his defense of Tom Robinson; his great nephew Francis tells Scout that Atticus is a
nigger lover and he s ruinin the family (Lee 94). As evident through the mockery of blacks and
those who defend them, the white citizens feel superior to blacks; this idea of white supremacy
reaffirms the theme of social inequality.
Through use of irony, Lee parallels the unjust treatment of blacks during the 1930s to that of the
American Civil War. For instance, during the trial of Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell proudly responds
to his full name, Robert E. Lee Ewell. The irony lies within the historical context as Robert E. Lee,
a Confederate general during the American Civil War, fought for the continuation of slavery. By
juxtaposing Bob Ewell with Robert E. Lee, Harper Lee underscores the blatant racism of Bob Ewell.
Furthermore, Mr. Dolphus Raymond s actions exposes the bigotry of the white townspeople
through the irony of his situation.

function, in its widest sense, is essential if business and government is to operate properly. That
integrity is largely in the hands of the payroll profession.
The payroll profession s public includes taxpayers, direct outsourced clients, employers, employees,

Supporting transparent remuneration policies and practice;
Ensuring cost efficient and financially effective use of human resources;

Because of the boom in the economy caused by the success of Doi Moi allowing international
investment, the Communist Party itself has been required to support the return of tens of thousands
of Vietnamese who had fled Vietnam during the Vietnam War era but who now want to return home
as business owners and entrepreneurs. The government created an assistance committee called Viet
Khieu for these returnees. Although the Communist Party distrusts the political views, wealth, and
Western customs of these returnees and may see them as a threat, the goal is to create economic
prosperity and their education and experience abroad has brought an economic benefit to the
country.
As part of its modernization plans, the Communist Party is improving Vietnam s infrastructure

  • 2. An Investigation On American Civil Union According to police, officers nobody has the right to record. Whether it is publicly, or an investigation being done outside on the street. Now a days we do not have the right to do anything outside in the public. My question is why? If we all have the right to do whatever we want. Many city journalists even people have been arrested for not even committing a crime but simply filming. You would ask me is this right? Well I would say no it is not right. According to the law which truly states ( Know Your Rights: Photographers. American Civil Union. ACLU, July 2014. Web. 3 Sep 2014). That we all have the right to photograph, and film while being in public being anywhere and at any time. The video I selected talks about how a civilian is having a discussion with a policeofficer and how the police officersays he is not allowed to film. Watching the video made me see how police officers don t respect at all. They tend to lie a lot and change everything around when another police officer comes to help them out. They harass and detain people with unnecessary reasons. Although police officers tend to know about the law seems like they really need to get a recap about what the law states. I believe police officers are there to protect and watch over the public. But to react in a way that is erroneous and so unfair is just not accurate for me. The video I watch is about a civilian who was filming traffic stop. The officer approaches him and tells the civilian to put his camera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humans and other animals can belong to more than one trophic level. Depending on what you eat and what you can eat, you may be placed in a different level depending on the circumstance. Organisms of different different metabolisms and lifestyles may be on the same level, thus trophic levels cannot indicate characteristics of organisms in a certain level. As organisms mature, they may change their feeding habits which cannot be classified under one level. In general, trophic levels generalizes ecosystem relationships because they cannot be diagrammed. 4. Location of production. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vegetarianism is more efficient from production to consumption because there is less waste and the ratio of energy intake compared to gross production is much greater for plants than animals. Meat prices more drastically compared to those of fruits and veggies. You can grow your own fruits and veggies in your backyard with relatively little space and resources compared to trying to raise your own livestock. Vegetarianism may lead to a deficinacy of vitamins and minerals including iron, B 12, and protein. You can also be lacking in calories in general and may be more tired because many vegetarian foods are not as calorie dense. Eating vegetarian can also be difficult depending on where you live. 9. Buy local or buy fair trade options. Only eat foods that are in season. Increase your plant to meat ratio when eating. Eat less processed foods. Use applicances that are more energy efficent when storing and preparing foods. Encourage farmers to pass through their fields as less as possible. I think the most energy savings would be at the beginning of the process starting with farmers. • 5. Comparing Nature in Wordsworth’s Ruined Cottage, and... Comparing the Representation of Nature in Wordsworth s Ruined Cottage, and Coleridge s Rime of the Ancient Mariner For most poets of the Romantic Age, nature played an invaluable role in their works. Man s existence could be affected and explained by the presence and portrayal of the external nature surrounding it. William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge are no different from the other Romantic poets, and their works abound with references to nature and its correlation to humanity. Specifically, Wordsworth s The Ruined Cottage and Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner share the theme of nature affecting man, although essential differences exist in their ideas regarding how it affects man. These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wordsworth explains his choice in his preface to Lyrical Ballads, one of his most significant projects co created with Coleridge: the principal object, then, which I proposed to myself in these poems was to choose incidents and situations from common life...because in that condition the passions of men are incorporated with the beautiful and permanent forms of nature (Wordsworth 241). This explanation of his work is applicable to the majority of Wordsworth s creations. In the case of The Ruined Cottage, he uses nature to shadow the progression of decline in the woman of the peddler s story, and also to provide the comforting concepts of hope and continuation of life. Whereas Wordsworth treats nature as a means of understanding and mirroring the condition of man, Coleridge takes a slightly different approach in his ballads. Instead of revealing the natural in its purest form, without alteration, Coleridge adds his own special coloring. This can be seen in his supernatural works, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the story of a seaman haunted after needlessly killing an albatross. Watson describes Coleridge s nature as changer and enchanter, supplying qualities of light unknown before. So the poet, by the power of his imagination, changes the familiar into something rich and strange...Rime is filled with images that we recognize but which are transformed by the context and narrative... • 8. Hyperbole Twelfth Night The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms. Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola, finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable. These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting personal morals from the text. Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move/That heart, which now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly ... • 10. The Story Of A Woman Essay A woman is standing in her kitchen, cooking dinner for her husband and her three children. She has many things on her mind other than food: her children, her health, her life. During her distraction, the bread that she had put in the oven to toast begins to burn and it smells of smoke in the kitchen. She desperately pulls the pan out of the oven and begins to fan the bread, hoping that her husband in the living room does not smell it. Her husband enters the kitchen, smells the remnants of the smoke, and walks slowly over to her. She uses her body to shield the seared bread while realizing that the relief she just felt is gone. Her husband asks what happened and she opens her mouth to answer...when he smacks her across the face. Can you ever do anything right?! he yells. The children glance in through the open door, then scatter when they see their mom s wide eyed expression. The bruise begins to form already and the scar tissue around her broken heart opens back up again. This, unfortunately, is a reality for many women around the world, especially in the United States. They live in fear every day, wondering if today is the day that their spouse will end their lives. Others endure endless verbal abuse, killing their self esteem and their will to live. Cacao, the tree from which chocolate is processed, is heavily intertwined in the religious and secular lives of the Maya, in the past as well as the present. Chocolate, as we know it today, too was born from the Maya and their contact with the Europeans, perhaps the only good thing to come from the interactions. Native American tribal music is a very important part of most Native Americans history, culture, and societies. Music is an extremely important role of Native American culture and history. Generally, it was one of the only methods that they had as a way to pass down traditions and their history from generation to generation. There wasn t very much documentation of their history until validation from English settlers, other than some archeological evidence of musical instruments and depictions of music that have been dated as far back as the 7th Century. There were typically two types of songs that the tribes would pass down, and they would be either public songs or private songs. Public songs were often historical, and could be retold into many different versions which often gave the songs different meanings. In Digging, Heaney establishes the setting of the poem by describing that he is in what seems to be a room with a window that overlooks an area of green. He starts the poem off with Between my finger and my thumb / The squat pen rests; snug as a gun. / Under my window, a clean rasping sound / When the spade sinks into gravelly ground: / My father, digging. I look down ( Digging ). He uses the appeals to sound, as in a clean rasping sound and the spade sinks into gravelly ground, as well as appeals to sight, I look down, and appeals to touch, [b]etween my finger and my thumb, to create an image in the reader s mind of what that day, or perhaps thought, looked like. The image that is created is one that shows contrast, in this case between an unidentified narrator and his father. As the poem continues, Heaney describes But I ve no spade to follow men like them. / Between my finger and my thumb / The squat pen rests. / I ll dig with it. The contrast that this furthers is the idea that the narrator is very different from his father, creating a divide that can be the start of tension. By using Man Ray s idea of deconstructing the classical female torso in fragments, body doubling corsets, and formless figures, the author argues how those characteristics communicate the meaning of eroticism and power within Surrealist photography and literature. Within the first argument, the author explains how the Surrealist artists drew their inspiration of the female torso from the ancient mythological god, Venus. At the beginning of the film Jaws , the shark s attacks are close by to the shore, which shows us that the shallow water cannot stop it from attacking people. This nutrients end up creating algae blooms in the water, which reduce the amount of sunlight available to underwater grasses; not allowing plants to photosynthesize and produce the food they need to survive. Algae then decomposes creating dead zones killing fish and other species since oxygen is needed for any organism to live. (5) Building additional vegetation areas to create green filters is a solution that will decrease the amount of pollutants in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Even Atticus family disapproves of his defense of Tom Robinson; his great nephew Francis tells Scout that Atticus is a nigger lover and he s ruinin the family (Lee 94). As evident through the mockery of blacks and those who defend them, the white citizens feel superior to blacks; this idea of white supremacy reaffirms the theme of social inequality. Through use of irony, Lee parallels the unjust treatment of blacks during the 1930s to that of the American Civil War. For instance, during the trial of Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell proudly responds to his full name, Robert E. Lee Ewell. The irony lies within the historical context as Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general during the American Civil War, fought for the continuation of slavery. By juxtaposing Bob Ewell with Robert E. Lee, Harper Lee underscores the blatant racism of Bob Ewell. Furthermore, Mr. Dolphus Raymond s actions exposes the bigotry of the white townspeople through the irony of his situation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of the boom in the economy caused by the success of Doi Moi allowing international investment, the Communist Party itself has been required to support the return of tens of thousands of Vietnamese who had fled Vietnam during the Vietnam War era but who now want to return home as business owners and entrepreneurs. The government created an assistance committee called Viet Khieu for these returnees. Although the Communist Party distrusts the political views, wealth, and Western customs of these returnees and may see them as a threat, the goal is to create economic prosperity and their education and experience abroad has brought an economic benefit to the country. As part of its modernization plans, the Communist Party is improving Vietnam s infrastructure enormously with the construction of modern freeways. It has planned a high speed rail system between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to connect North to South. Vietnam is beginning the construction of a Vietnam China road that will reduce the travel time to China to one day, compared to the previous trip of two or three days. Not only will transportation along this road increase the supply of Vietnam s exports to China, China s exports will have a faster, easier route into the global market through Vietnam s seaports than through the current shipping ports in China. Despite Vietnam s efforts since the 1950s to become an industrialized nation, it s still an agricultural economy and most of its citizens are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
