Essay On Employment
Writing an essay on the topic of employment can be quite challenging due to the vast and
complex nature of the subject. Employment encompasses a wide range of aspects, from
economic factors and labor market trends to social and cultural influences. Crafting a
comprehensive and insightful essay requires a deep understanding of these complexities and the
ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively.
One of the challenges lies in navigating the ever-evolving landscape of employment. Labor
markets fluctuate, and employment patterns are constantly shaped by technological
advancements, globalization, and socio-political changes. Staying updated with current data and
trends is crucial to providing a relevant and accurate analysis.
Additionally, discussing employment involves delving into various perspectives, such as the
employer's viewpoint, the employee's experience, government policies, and the impact of societal
attitudes towards work. Balancing these perspectives while maintaining a coherent and well-
structured essay can be demanding.
Furthermore, addressing the multifaceted issues related to employment often requires in-depth
research and critical thinking. Whether exploring the effects of automation on job markets,
analyzing the gig economy's rise, or examining the challenges faced by marginalized groups in
accessing employment opportunities, a thorough investigation is necessary.
Another difficulty arises in presenting a nuanced and balanced argument. Employment is a topic
that touches on economic, social, and ethical dimensions. Striking the right balance and avoiding
oversimplification is essential to provide a well-rounded and thoughtful discussion.
In conclusion, writing an essay on employment demands not only a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to navigate its complexities and present a
nuanced perspective. It requires diligent research, critical thinking, and effective communication
skills. However, with dedication and the right approach, it is possible to produce a compelling
and insightful essay on this crucial topic.

Management Styles Analysis
Management Styles
Management is a far running subject and there are many definitions of management.
From my point of view, management is described as a process to get something done
in the business environment. It is the person called Manager who gets various jobs
done by assign works to people working with him/her. How the Manager can get the
things done effectively and efficiently is an important problem that should be
researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued
that the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore
leaders should exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as
appropriate. In fact, a management style is an overall method of leadership used by a

Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence
management styles. Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed
in a long time, maybe several decades, several countries, or even thousands years such
as China and Japan. The custom includes how to manage enterprise, how to treat
customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates. Different countries and
economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in China, face
issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or
encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out
employees mistake in front of other workers directly, the employee might feel
ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the manager in future, which surely will
bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in different regions,
management styles are also changing according to such differences.
I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors,
culture, policy, and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances.
Obviously, Japan and the US display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture,
society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss the features of Japan and the US at
first.
First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines
that its national culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is
Anne Sexton The Bells
Anne Sexton was a troubled woman. She often felt neglected by her parents;
unloved even, so much so that she attempted suicide. Before she succeeded in 1974,
Sexton used hundreds of poems to confess her feelings. One such poem is The Bells
, a seemingly simple memory of a trip to the circus. However, poetrycan never be
looked at through one lens. Instead, one must look deeper to understand the message
the poet is attempting to convey. And so, through a different a lens, this memory
becomes a story of an incredibly complex father daughter relationship. Before
analyzing the meaning, a reader must first notice the style of the poem itself. Anne
Sexton, being a part of the confessionalism period, writes in first person. This deepens
the suspicion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this being only the first line, diction is already important. Sexton
specifically chose the word scabbed, as scabs cover wounds. Perhaps a scab is
covering the wounded father daughter relationship. Line 5 furthers this idea, as
Sexton writes Father, do you remember? . This line is key in understanding the
father daughter relationship, as it has many meanings. For one, Sexton purposely
chose Father, rather than Dad or Daddy. Father is more formal; it shows the
distance between father and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she
wants to make sure this memory means as much to him as it does to her. The idea
is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/ trembled for the flying
man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton uses
this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as
Sexton would have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the
end of stanza one. Sexton depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child
laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a relationship she wishes she
Essay on Biblical References in Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction
Throughout the movie Pulp Fiction, directed by Quentin Tarantino, there are many
hidden references to religion and the Bible. The movie starts off, introducing our two
main characters, Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, as two cheap hitmen in search of
a package belonging to their boss, Marcellus Wallace.
The package is retrieved, and they then began their job of returning it to their boss.
Along the way, they ran into difficulties, such as Vega s so called
date with his boss wife, Mia, during which she overdosed on heroin, and Vega was
forced to take her to the drug dealer s house to save her life, as well as the robbers in
the restaurant, who try to take the suitcase from Winnfield, but were unsuccessful. ...

He convinced Butch to throw a fight, for a cash reward. As the camera pans around,
we see that Wallace had a bandage on the back of his neck. The
Bible states when the Devil takes your soul, he takes it out of the back of your neck.
This is where Tarantino really hinted to us about what was taking place, and this
further suggests that Wallace s soul was in the suitcase. This scene also suggests that
Wallace was possibly trying to play God by trying to make
Butch throw the fight. These signs show us that if we try to play God, we will be
punished severely.
Now we saw Vincent Vega visiting a drug dealer who looked astonishingly like
classic descriptions of Jesus Christ. This uncanny resemblance can only be here to
show us one thing: that He is the creator of all, and can be the destroyer of all as
well, just as drugs can destroy all. This is a very hidden, but well understood sign,
for those of us who take the time to notice it. As it turns out, later in the film, we
see the drugs that Vega bought from the dealer cause Mia to OD and she narrowly
escaped death with an adrenaline shot to the heart. The adrenaline shot was
administered by Vega, however it was at the dealer s house, once again showing us
that He has supreme control over us, for without the dealer, Mia would never have
been in this situation, nor would she have made it out if it alive.

The Pros And Cons Of Isaac Newton s Laws Of Motion
Space travel had been a dream for mankind ever since stars could be seen in the sky.
Creating successful rockets wasn t easy; scientists in the seventeenth century like
Galileo and Newton spent years trying to understand the laws of motions (How
Rockets). Isaac Newton s three laws of motions had advanced the creation of a
working rocket. His laws of motion are the building blocks of a functional rocket.
Newton s first law states, an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in
motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force ( The
Rocket ). A rocket on a launch pad is an object at rest. For a rocket to lift off, the
force needs to push the rocket off the pad. Newton s second law of motion can be
written with the equation F = ma. The engine of the rocket is generating force as
long as it is ignited, thrusting particles out of the rocket. The amount of force the
engine generates is equal to the mass of the rocket and the acceleration of the rocket.
Since particles are pushed out of the rocket, the mass is constantly decreasing, which
means the acceleration will increase (How Rockets). Rockets travel into space
according to this. The principle behind Newton s ... Show more content on

To make space travel a possibility, a lot of changes have to be made. Reducing the
price of space travel is one of the most challenging problems scientists face. Another
problem is how many mass propellants take up. Around 80% of a rocket s mass is
propellants; this limits the amount of space that can be used for luxury items that
attract customers to spend a lot of money into space travel. Also, the limited space
restricts the number of people that can be travel into space in one rocket. Fewer
amounts of people that could travel into space mean the more expensive space travel
would be. The more space travel costs, the fewer amounts of people would afford

The Authentic Life In Death Of Ivan Ilyich
Lewis Carroll once said, In the end, we only regret the chances we didn t take,
relationships we were afraid to have and the decisions we waited too long to make
. In the Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, the author highlights the big idea of the
artificial life which is represented through everyone in Ivan s society and job. The
authentic life is represented by Ivan s Russian peasant. The theme is to live the right
authentic life, and it is expressed when Ivan falls down the ladder, and wrong things
both Ivan and his wife value. Ivan Ilyich has a moment of silence and reflects about
his life. At one point, it gets to Ivan Ilyich that it might be true that he has not spent
his life as he should have done. It occurred to him that what... Show more content on

He seems to care a lot about what others think of him and is very superficial. For
example, one day Ivan was decorating his house and he made a false step, slipped,
and fell. He was so interested in it all that he often did things himself, rearranging
the furniture, or rehanging the curtains. Once when mounting a step ladder to
show the upholsterer, who did not understand, how he wanted the hangings
draped, he made a false step and slipped, but being a strong and agile man he clung
on and only knocked his side against the knob of the window frame. (Tolstoy 12).
Here, Ivan, was interested in rearranging the furniture, rehanging the curtains, that
he made a false step and fell. Tolstoy highlights the fact that Ivan values the wrong
things in life. He is focused on pleasing society, and living based on high class
standards. Ivan seems to care about what other thinks of them. Ivan s wife,
Praskovya Fedornova vales the wrong things in life as well. For example, after
dinner, Fedornova told Ivan that she was going to the theatre with the family. After
dinner, at seven o clock, Praskovya Fedorovna came into the room in evening dress,
her full bosom pushed up by her corset, and with traces of powder on her face. She
had reminded him in the morning that they were going to the theatre (Tolstoy 27).
Here, Ivan s wife, Praskovya Fedorovna reminded Ivan that she is going to the theatre

Good Followers Are Important Than A Good Leader
Good followers are just as important if not more important than a good leader.
Followers are the important people behind a leader providing support, and
constructive criticism to the leader. Barbara Kellerman a leadership lecturer at
Harvard University s John F. Kennedy School of Government author of Follower
ship: How Followers are Creating Change and Changing Leaders, says that
significant shifts in technology and culture have changed that dynamic, giving
followers more power. And there is a lot you can learn about being a good leader by
learning to be a good follower. Kellerman also state that being a follower does not
make you a sheep and truthfully everyone is a kind of a regular follower in any way,
maybe in our families, friends, clubs, or religious groups.
A big key to being a good follower is to have good awareness. When you are aware of
your surrounding group and can get a feel for what they are comfortable with or
not. Such as when I am around my friends I know what kind of upsets them but at
the same time I know I can be a little less aware because they have similar interests
and are close to my age, but if I were surrounded by strangers of a different age I
would have to be very careful and be aware of what may upset them. Personality is a
good trait to have rather it is for work or everyday life, being outgoing and friendly is
how you make friends and really how a lot of positive things happen to you. If you
are working with a team it is important
Urban Legends Essay
We have all heard of strange and gory stories that are supposedly true, experienced
by a friend of a friend. Whether true or not these so called urban legends tend to
circulate throughout society thriving on each individual s fears and curiosity. What
most people don t realize is, within these tales lies the attitudes and values of a
community. These tales do not survive throughout the years solely on the basis of
their entertainment level, but due to the fact that they reflect society s fears and
anxieties. In dissecting these tales one can indefinitely find the social fallacy against
females that has existed for decades, as well as the fears women have against men.
However, more importantly, the values that society hold are... Show more content on

Not very often, because it is uncommon. Males are accepted to be able to protect
themselves against such crimes, because they are strong physically and mentally.
This tale also implies that females often play the role of the victim while males are
the perpetrator of these violent crimes. The predator male seeks and stalks its innocent
female prey. If Jane was a man then the story would seem less frightening and
interesting. However she is a female whose antagonist is a demented and neurotic
male, thus greater fear and anxiety is created. This dominant attitude, though sexist,
is a recurring theme that has existed in our society for centuries and continues to
prevail till this day. The theme of violence is a popular route for most urban
legends. Violence can mean the threat of one s life to the threat of one s innocence.
Society dearly values life, whether due to religious or cultural influences life is
sacred and precious. Thus when hearing of others life threatening stories it gets the
heart racing. That could happen to me. This connection is immediate because it asks
for no suspension of belief. That is, it is very possible that the tale has some truth to
it and that the actions of the tale are quite believable, distinct, and real.

New Market Trends And Strategies Essay
Today, the global business sphere is growing swiftly in terms of organizations and
management in general. New market trends and strategies are being implemented
from old fashion to modern ways, in order to best manage and take control of the
organization, along with boosting the employees confidence. Ever since the dawn of
trade and services, the customer has been the main priority in the promise of a fruitful
business. In order to efficiently serve the valuable customer, organizations have opted
to allocate more and more cash towards Research Development in millions of dollars,
along with efficiently knowing when to change managementin correspondence with
the organization s progress. This has all helped with an advancement in corporate
technology and asset growth in the desire of pursuing a healthy growth of profits in
the long term.
These types of changes today have been essentially globalized, along with
organizational adaptation and control change, both of which strive to sustain the
customer s loyalty effectively. Therefore, from hereon the concept of change can
begin. However, when the change in the culture of an organization occurs for
example, the company feels that the activities conducted including changes in

Dead Men s Path By Chinua Achebe
WRT 201 November 11, 2014 Mena Mahany Dr. Tomko Dead Men s Path The real
world is objectively studied; so, we must step down from the ivory tower of
institutional education and experience empirical quandaries. The short story, Dead
Men s Path by Chinua Achebe is a lesson learned parable that accepts the secular
sciences for its progressive teachings. The main character Michael Obi embraces
an intellectual prophet persona that he arrogantly flaunts in order to sensationalize
his new promotion as headmaster of the Ndume Central School. It is easily
uncovered that his Mission authorities is a part of some sort of political agenda
regarding colonialism, even assimilation. Although Obi is anxious to succeed at
his new position, some underlying themes arise in the midst of the story. The short
sentence, Mr. Obi put his whole life in to [his] work (Achebe pg. 11), echoes
throughout the story in a lingering fashion. Michael Obi is obsessed. Finally
bursting with enlightenment, Obi confesses some prejudice towards those villagers
who are indigenous to the area, mocking their paganism. The theme of Dead Men s
Path is realism. Accounting all the way back to Hobbes, every man ought to
endeavor peace, as far as he has hope of obtaining it; and when he cannot obtain it,
that he may seek and use all helps and advantages of war (Hobbes). Empirically, we
see a confrontation between the priest of the village and Obi the new headmaster.
Consistent with the theme, Obi refuses any idea of
The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Being a teenager can be hard. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, was
written to help teens understand the different ways that they can improve themselves
and the way they handle difficult situations. The book talks about common, everyday
problems that teenagers might be facing, and how they can overcome them.
Habit one says that you should be proactive rather than reactive. A proactive person is
someone who takes responsibility for their actions and is able to forgive people.
They understand that there are better, more fulfilling things in life than revenge. A
reactive person often blames others for their problems, even when they are most
likely the ones at fault. They hold grudges and have a hard time things go. Being
proactive is important because if you go through life blaming other people for
your mistakes, you re not going to get anywhere. By not taking responsibility for
yourself, you are allowing your success to get farther away from your grasp. From
this chapter, I have learned that in order to be successful, This chapter should have
been able to teach you that you need to take responsibility for yourself, and that you
can t blame others for your mistakes. You can apply this to my life by being honest
with people and by remaining calm in difficult situations.
The next habit states that you have to begin with the end in mind. You have to
know what you re working towards before you start working. If you don t have a goal
in mind, you ll spend your life

Breastfeeding Barriers
Although breastfeeding provides various benefits to mothers and their infants, there
are various social and cultural factors that influence a mother s decision to exclusively
breastfeed their infant. Purdy (2010) concludes that some evidence suggest that many
mothers abandon the idea of breastfeeding in order to comply with cultural and
societal demands. This presents an ethical predicament, as these aspects can create
barriers in preventing mothers from breastfeedingdue to different pressures. One
major barrier that can greatly affect a woman s decision to breastfeed is a lack of
social support from family and peers. Typically, a woman would depend on her own
mother, close relatives, and friends whether they have breastfed before for

Brazil practices this goal by being an active participant in various international and

Analyzing A Wide Range Of Environmental Data
PMF is a mathematical receptor model that is used to analyze a wide range of
environmental data. The model has been widely used in air, water, and lake and
ocean sediments research to determine the sources of pollutants. This model reduces
the large number of variables in intricate analytical data sets to just a few
combinations known as source types and contributions while providing very robust
uncertainty estimates and data diagnostics.
The identification of the source types is achieved by matching the different sources
with the measured profiles of individual sample chemical constituents. The source
contributions are basically used to determine how much each source/factor
contributed to the pollutants in the analyzed sample(s). The PMF ... Show more

The model limits the factor loadings and scores to only the non negative values,
which significantly minimizes the uncertainty that may be caused by any rotating
factors. The mass balance equation for the PMF model accounting for all the m
chemical species in n samples as contributions from p independent sources can be
written as shown in Eq. (3.8);
X_ij= ∑_(k=1)^pв
–’g_ik f_kj+ e_ij Eq.(3.8) where, Xij = the elemental
concentration for the jth species on the ith day, gik = the contribution of kth factor
to the receptor model on the ith day, fkj = the proportion of the kth factor that is
species j, and eij = the residual for the jth species on the ith day.
While using the PMF model, there exists a set of fundamental, natural physical
constraints or checks that have to be obeyed. These include: The model must
reproduce the original data. i.e., the model must explain all the observations in the
input data set. The expected/ predicted source compositions must all have non
negative values. Any given source cannot have a negative proportion of an element or
any other given pollutant species. The predicted source contributions to the particulate
aerosols or any other environmental pollutants of interest must all be non negative.
Any given source cannot emit negative mass. The sum of the

Fame And Glory In Beowulf
In the Anglo Saxon epic poem Beowulf, the main character, Beowulf struggles with
prioritizing health and defending himself over his desire for fame and glory.
Throughout the story Beowulf shows that he would rather get the most fame and
glory possible then to protect himself. Especially towards the end he starts to not care
about his health, and this shows through the fact that he is around 70 and about to
fight a dragon just for fame and glory. Beowulfshows that he would rather risk
everything to get glory and fame throughout the battles with Grendel, Grendel s
mother, and the dragon. In the battle against Beowulf and Grendel, Beowulf is so
eager for ultimate glory that he decides to use no weapons or armor. Beowulf
states, I have heard, too, that the monster s scorn of men is so great that he needs
no weapons and fears none. Nor will I. Beowulf says this to tell the people of Herot
that he will not fight with weapons or fear if the enemy is not doing the same.
Another account of this is when Beowulf explains, My lord Higlac might think less
of me is I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to... He is willing to use no
weapon at all then to use one and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His last battle was against a dragon. In this battle he wore all of his armor ,and he
brought a sword with him to defend himself. Beowulf states, I am old, now, but I
will fight again, seek fame still... This means even though Beowulf knows he is
old, he is not going to let that stop him from seeking glory and fame one last time.
When Beowulf is being scorched with the dragon s fiery breath Wiglaf mentions,
He meant to kill this monster himself, our mighty king, fight this battle alone and
unaided... Wiglaf says this after the other men have fled and left Beowulf to die.
Beowulf knew he was most likely going to die in this battle but his passion for glory
and fame overpowered all logical reasoning of keeping him and others

Perseverance In To Kill A Mockingbird
The True Definition of Courage
George Washington was one of the most courageous people known to American
history, not because he was frightened, but because he decided to fight Britain in the
Revolutionary War. He was outmanned, undersupplied, and faced death, but he
continued to believe in the freedom of America. Similarly, the novel To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee demonstrates how the true definition of courage is not the
lack of fear but rather perseverance and morality while pressed by difficulties and
possible consequences. Ms. Dubose, a morphine addict, successfully broke her
addiction, ignoring the consequences of pain conveys this definition the most. It is
also revealed in the movie Finding Nemo by Pixar Animations, a story about ... Show

The movie Finding Nemo by Pixar Animations is a movie about Marlin, a
clownfish who lost his son and goes everywhere to find him, making new friends
and facing possible danger at every turn. Fisherman capture Nemo at one point and
he befriends a fish named Gill inside of a fish tank. Soon after, Nemo plans to
break out. Nemo s plot to escape fails and Gill, willing to sacrifice himself, shoots
himself out of the fish tank to save Nemo (Finding Nemo). Gill illustrates courage
by using his morality to save Nemo and ignoring the possible repercussions,
including death. Additionally, Marlin and Dory exhibit courage when Dory fails to
hold on to a scuba diving mask with an address, the only clue Marlin has to find
Nemo s location. The mask drops deep into a pitch black, chilling trench, but Marlin
and Dory chase after the mask to save their one chance to rescue Nemo and encounter
a frightening angler fish (Finding Nemo). Marlin demonstrates courage by ignoring
what dangers and difficulties the trench could bring and diving straight for the mask
to have a chance to find his son. Finding Nemo successfully illustrates the true
definition of courage through character s actions to save

The two art pieces that I want to write about are Bronzino s Venus, Cupid, Folly, and

paintings were born in the periods when there was significant cultural and social
changes, which influenced to their artistic style. The both paintings have nude female

Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time is one of the most famous works of art of Bronzino.
The characters in the painting embody the provocative and chaotic Mannerismstyle.

The canon is a collection or list of sacred books accepted as genuine. (Canon Define,

With the influence that literature has on society, why does Australia not have their
own Canon? The answer to this; because no traditional scholars recognise Australia as
having their own identity. Literature could introduce the idea of giving Australia an
identity. Imagine the positive impact that having an Australian canon will have on the
Australian identity. A separate canon will define Australia as a country, different
from the European canon and create a wider sense of diversity. There are many

Christopher Columbus And The Middle Of A Population
Revival
In the mid 15th century, Europe was in the middle of a population revival as well as
a boost in economic activity after the Black Death. Some Iberian explorers began
setting out on voyages, as the revival created a demand of luxuries, such as spices, in
the East. This expansion also was also caused by religious fervor. The Christian
reconquista encouraged the Portuguese and Spanish to continue the Christian
crusade. Portugalsent Vasco da Gama and Spainsent Christopher Columbusto find a
trading route to Asia (History, 432). Both da Gama and Columbus were sailors on a
mission to Asia, but the nature of their expedition and the consequences set them
apart.
Christopher Columbus was a Genoese map maker. Knowledgeable about the
ocean, he had experience with Portuguese navigational developments and using a
compass as a nautical tool. Columbus was also a religious man, and saw
Christianity as a missionary religion. In fact, he planned to spread Christianity to
the people in Asia. Columbus was not just inspired by his Christian faith, but also
by the work done by geographers and travelers before him. In his first voyage, The
Enterprise of the Indies , he set out to find a direct trading route to Asia. In 1486,
he was rejected by the Portuguese for any funding, but in 1492, the king and queen
of Spain funded his journey. Columbus is known to be a controversial figure. There
are some who glorify him as a great explorer, but others see him as an invader, taking
Love And Love In Where There Is Love There Is Life
1. Where there is love there is life.
This quote means that love ables to give the will to live when things get wrong.
Love is the fuel that gives us life. The fuel that gives us hope and strength in order
to live. When people are in love, they see things gets brighter and clearer. There will
be a euphoric (very happy) feeling of contentment and satisfaction and that s what life
should feel like. Giving/sending love in any direction changes things and those are
definite signs of life.
2. A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. A true
friend is always there for us and never leave us when the rest of the world walks out.
A good friend can make the friendship last long till the end of our lives. He who
stands with us in all our thick and thin, ups and downs, good and bad times they are

dinner time, where two thirds of the residents are expected to be served between
5:00 and 6:30 pm. The cafГ© serves meals, beverages, salads, desserts sandwiches
and other snacks. Most students pay with their student meal cards. The CafГ© is
designed with three waiting lines, L1, L2 and L3. Line one is for the pre cooked

Another observation, is the flow of the cafeteria, it seems that most of the lines
flow in different directions causing chaos, people running in to each other, and
standing in lines that are not necessarily the right line they want to be in. The
cashier flows in a different direction than the pre cooked and the interactive cook
lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their food. Also, the
entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the
direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents
quickly exit the cafeteria.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the
cafГ©. They should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by
the exit. There should be one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular
cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t
crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait time. Please see exhibit A for
the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there is needs to be
detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above
the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about
the food. The third recommendation would be to implement a pre order station.

The Three Estates Of The French Revolution
1789 to 1799 in France saw the most important political revolution in Europe at the
time, that would have lasting impressions for centuries to come. With political ideas
emerging from the Enlightenment, poor leadership from Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette, and social disparagement all lead to the French Revolution. France during
this time became a bubble of all these issues, leading to the eventual pop thus bringing
France both into modernization as well as their establishment of creating a
constitutional democracy.
In the middle of the 1700 s Paris, France became a Mecca for philosophical and
scientific thought. This emergence was very much like that of the Italian

(Cole, Western Civilization, 2014, p. 581 and 588) The Bastille was a castle fortress
that held political prisoners. While just seven inmates were inside the Bastille when
it was stormed, the reaction from doing so brought the revolution more and more
into the light. This was partially due by the dismissal of Louis XVI s finance
minister, Jacques Necker. Necker was sympathetic to the Third Estate and helped to
reconfigure the ministry in France. Commoners also saw Louis s attempts to interfere
with the National Assembly as a direct stripping of their rights. Exposing these abuses
of the monarchy was the start of the French Revolution. These uprisings from 1789 to
1792 helped to shape the royal policy at the time as well. More and more common
men were teaming together not only to discuss their grievances with one another,
but coming up with plans for them as well. Speaking on reforms such as Liberation
of the Serfs and the Abolishment of Nobility this prostrated people to question

Grapheme Color Synesthesia
Synesthesia was discovered back in the 1880s when Francis Galton described a
condition where he thinks of numbers in visual imagery, which is known as
synesthesia today. Synesthesia is the experience in which a stimulation of one sense
triggers an additional sensory experience (Rothen Mejer, 2010). In other words, it is
a condition where the senses are cross linked, and the experience is automatic and
reliable (Rich, Bradshaw, Mattingley, 2005). A common type of synesthesia
is called
the grapheme colorsynesthesia, which is when people experience seeing colors when
they come across any letters or numbers even though the font color is black. For
instance, the letter A to a synesthete may be a red color, and the number three may be

The encoded stimulus is richer for synesthetes compared to people without
synesthesia. Also there is a performance advantage when the subjects recall the
spoken or written words (Gross, Neargarder, Caldwell Harris Cronin Golomb,
2011; Rothen Ward, 2012). In Gross et al. s (2011) study, they recruited nine color
graphemic synesthetes using a standardized neuropsychological measure that
would trigger color graphemic synesthesia for verbal tasks. One verbal test that
they used was the Paired Verbal Associates test. For this test, participants were to
learn eight pairs of standard shapes and nonsense shapes. Some trials had
immediate recall or a 30 minute delay. In all trials, the synesthetic participants
recalled the standard shape when presented with the nonsense shape. This test was
altered to reduce potential differences between the participant s synesthesia and the
colors, by exchanging the colored squares with the line drawings of familiar
shapes. A one way ANOVA was conducted for each trial. It revealed that all
synesthetes reached ceiling on trial 3 and 4 (M=5.0 +/ 1.7), while none of the
control participants reached ceiling (M= 2.89 +/ 2.2). Their results were very similar
to Rothen and Meier s (2010) results. For the most part, their findings supported the
cue induced encoding/retrieval hypothesis. Significant results were elicited by the

My report is on the drug cocaine. I will tell mainly how it affects the body and
nervous system. I also have included where Cocaine comes from to help understand
exactly what we re talking about, and to clear up any misunderstanding about the
drug.
Cocaine is both a central nervous system stimulant and an anesthetic. It is found in
the leaves of the coca plant. The traditional method of coca use is to chew the leaves,
producing a mild stimulation. Outside of South America it is generally used in it s
more refined and extracted forms, either powder cocaine, or freebase cocaine and
makes a much stronger effect than chewing the leaves. The term quot;Crack quot; is

It is sucked on rather than chewed. It is still a common practice for a mother to
introduce her young to the coca experience by preparing the wad of leaves in her
mouth and then transferring it to the mouth of her child. In this way the proper
amount of lime will be present in the first wad of leaves the child uses, which
ensures that the first experience with coca will be a positive one. Cocaine was first
extracted from coca in the 19th cent. and was at first hailed as a miracle drug. After
all, it was used for a lot of things such as in dentistry.
Most coca is grown in Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. The farmers, for whom it is a
relatively well paying crop, harvest and dry the leaves, which are then processed
into coca paste. Cocaine base is extracted from the paste in informal laboratories,
usually in Peru or Bolivia. Further processing continues in Colombia, where the
white powder, cocaine hydrochloride, is produced for export. Once in the United
States, the cocaine is cut (diluted) with ingredients such as lactose, and sold or
further processed into crack. Drug dealers make a lot of money off of Cocaine. The
reason why this is, is because in South America, it s very cheap for the stuff while in
North America, the price shoots up quite a bit.
Drugs can affect the body in a variety of ways, causing changes in the brain, the
nervous system, and the synapses between nerves. Stimulants in particular, increase

Description and Imagery in The Foghorn and The Signalman
For this assignment I will be looking at two short narratives. One was written by
Bradbury, in the mid twentieth century , The Foghorn and the other was written by
Dickens, The Signalman over one hundred years before. Both are based on
supernatural themes and ideas.
It is obvious that Dickens tale was written in the mid nineteenth century because his
style of writing is very different to the more modern techniques writers employ
today. In his story he tells us about objects which no longer have a place in modern
society ,such as the telegraph and the steam train . Therefore it was necessary to look
more closely at Dickens script to identify how he creates a ... Show more content on

The narrator is obviously posed the same question and comments: There was
something remarkable about his manner .
The narrator wonders why the Signalman does not answer. So, right from the
beginning the audience has the perception that the Signalman is slightly mysterious
and strange.
The opening to The Fog Horn is quite similar. From the outset the light house in the
story is established as a desolated, mysterious place, cold, dark and dismal, as
described when the narrator says :
Out there in the cold water we waited every night for the coming of the fog .
This immediately creates a cold dark atmosphere and prepares the reader for what is
come. Straight away McDunn and the narrator are established as two isolated people,
as described when the narrator says :
Feeling like two birds in the grey sky, McDunn and I sent the light ,
Also when McDunn says: It s a lonely life .
All of this imagery and description creates a powerful impression of how bleak and
lonely the lighthouse is.
The narrator in The Signalman is a mysterious man, like the signal man himself. He
does not give a lot of information about himself, not even his name. He says that he is
staying in a inn:
I am currently staying in a small inn in the village near by
However he does not give
An Analysis Of Andre AlexisThe Hidden Keys
People are overwhelmed when stuck in between certainty and uncertainty. In the face
of ambiguity, knowledge of the certain is required to obtain power, and only through
the revelation of the uncertain can liberation be achieved. Despite the possibility of
failure, success can be achieved and the rewards from succeeding are invaluable to
the growth of character. This philosophy is solidified in AndrГ© Alexis , The Hidden
Keys, through the character Tancred. Tancred is capable of finding the hidden
treasure because he never let uncertaintyget the better of him; he searches for
answers without knowing if there are even any to be found., hHe is a man of
principle which allows him to follow his morals, not let the opinions of others affect
his, and persevere until he reaches the goal.
Morality is one s way of life; it helps determine right from wrong. When one
encounters a moral decision, the individual is given the opportunity to think about
their behaviour in order to act justly. Tancred is a moral person, but he chooses a
career path that makes others believe otherwise: [H]e s been a thief from the age
of eleven, but this was the first time he d had difficulty deciding what to do with a
stone. It was as if the diamond had a personality (Alexis 10). This suggests that
although he may be a thief, he is a thief with good nature. His good morals allow
him to make decisions that put the needs of others before his own. This is evident
when Willow asks a favour of Tancred:

A Perfect Day For Bananafish By J. D. Salinger
Have you ever wished you still had the innocence of a child? Or that you were not
ever exposed to the truth of society? In 1948, J.D. Salinger wrote and published his
story A Perfect Day for Bananafish . The short story comes from Salinger s Nine
Stories , which includes other pieces of his work such as The Laughing Man ,
Down at the Dinghy , and Teddy . He is known to write about the loss of innocence
in each of his stories. Salinger s story is an autobiography; he portrays his own life
events through Seymour Glass. Glass, being the main character, suffers from
psychological issues that lead him to suicide. Seymour s character mimics true events
in Salinger s life. The short storyconsolidates symbols such as the bananafish to

Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish also incorporates symbols such as sunburn.
Sunburn is the equivalent to getting burned by material pursuits. It is said that
Muriel is most sunburned because she is the most vain and superficial ( A Perfect
Day for Bananafish ). The words imply that Muriel cares mostly about her
appearances. Although this may be true, it is also a connection to her archetype in
society. She is focused on her social status and looks than her husband. Whereas
Seymour tries to avoid the sun by wearing a bathrobe. Salinger writes, I mean all he
does is lie there. He won t take his bathrobe off (5). This suggests that Seymour tries
to protect himself from the impurities and artificialness of society. Salinger s
suggestion that Seymour subconsciously fears the corrupting influences of the world
as he fears the damaging rays of the
The Gut Microbiome Of Giant Pandas
The giant pandas spend around 14 hours a day eating bamboo which usually doesn
t digest very well. Some of their unique features includes powerful jaw and a
enlarge wrist bone that functions as an opposable thumb to help them eat bamboos.
But when a group of Chinese researchers tested the gut microbiome of giant pandas
by sequencing ribosomal RNA in their feces and comparing it to other mammals like
bears and lions. They are surprised of the results, that showed pandas are lacking the
plant digesting bacteria like Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroides which help properly
digest plants. Instead they carry a bacteria like Streptococcus and Escherichia
/Shigella that can be found mostly in carnivores. This would mean that giant pandas

Social Issues of Work in Ben Hamper s Book Riverhead Ben Hampers book
Rivethead; Tales From The Assembly
Line is a gritty in your face account of a factory workers struggles against his
factory, his co workers, and the time clock. Hamper makes no apologies for any of
his actions, many of which were unorthodox or illegal. Instead he justifies them in a
way that makes the factory workers strife apparent to those who have never set foot
on an assembly line and wouldn t have the vaguest idea how much blood, sweat and
tears go into the products we take for granted everyday. Rivethead is an account of
the entire life of Author

The assembly line principle as it matured in industrial society however, proved to
destroy workers creativity and stifle the very essence of human life. Growth and
change. On an assembly line workers are degraded to automatons, performing the
same tasks over and over and over. Day in day out, without ever having any
knowledge or input into any of the other tasks related to completion of the project.
This monotony in the workplace spills over into the daily life of many factory
workers and affects how they live their life outside of the factory after the whistle
blows as much as it does while they re on the assembly line. This spillover was
observed by Hamper of his Grandfather. Straight home from work, dinner, the evening
news and immediately into bed at
7:00 p.m. He arose each weekday at 3:30 a.m., fixed himself some black coffee,
turned on the kitchen radio, smoked a handful of Lucky Strikes and waited to
leave for work at a quarter to five. This regimen never varied one iota in the forty
years he worked for GM (Hamper pg.6). It is fairly clear that the monotony of the
assembly line has a way of setting personal routines for it s workers that eventually
work their way out of the factory and into the home. One interesting question that is
raised, is whether people who like their life to be routinized eventually find their way
to an assembly line or if the assembly line monotony brings the propensity to routinize

Rationalism In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
The duration of the novels, the characters are seen lamenting their pasts and
longing for a future, ready for whatever seems to be awaiting them. The journey
that the pilgrims takes and the stories they tell attempts to reconcile their purpose
for the journey. At the same time they reconcile their pasts, and not just their pasts
but also the past of humanity. The underling issue of the novel is that the
characters are unable to properly grieve for their pasts and it is ultimately
recreated in an odd, intergalactic colonialism that causes a war. To begin, Pearl is
a poem that is contemporary to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales of which this
novel is loosely based on. But Pearl is a dream vision/debate poem about a father
who laments the death of his daughter. He falls asleep and has a vision of her as a
queen in heaven. They debate about rationalism, but ultimately the debate does not
have a real conclusion that comes to a satisfactory end. The emphasis of the poem
is that all things are rational through faith whether or not the individual understands.
There are multiple dialogues like this in Hyperion. The Bikura have dialogues like
this on two occasions, once after they killed Tuk and again while figuring out what
to do with DurГ© after he snuck off to the Cleft. When DurГ© aske why they killed
Tuk, they gave no specific answer Your companion died the true death. You did not.
[...] Why not? Why didn t you kill me? [...] You cannot be killed because you cannot

If you know you re gonna drink make sure you have a designated driver to drive you
home safely. Or you can call a taxi and pick your car up from the location after you
are ready to drive and are sober. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Talk about side
effects to when using prescription medication. If you are not sure if you are sober
enough always call a cab or get a sober friend to drive you home safely. Being a safe
driver is always a good thing. You can save your life and the life of others by just

Us Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
US Navy Chief Pinning Ceremony
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines tradition as a way of thinking, behaving,
or doing something that has been used by the people in a particular group, family,
society, etc., for a long time (2011). The Navy is full of formal traditions such as
saluting honors to the flag or senior personnel. One such tradition is the Chief s
Pinning Ceremony. The Chief s Pinning Ceremony is a formal tradition, the first
ceremony taken place on September 16, 1960. In 1959 the collar device of an
golden fouled anchor was the emblem of a Chief in the Navy. This anchor distinguish
the Chiefs the junior enlisted Sailors(Leuci 2015). The following year on September
16, 1960 the first Chief Pinning Ceremony took place starting a long lasting tradition
in the United States Navy.
The Navy is uniquely different from the other armed forces when promoting E 6 to
E 7. In the Army, Air Force and the Marines Corps, an E 6 is advance to E 7. In the.
Eligibility does not guarantee advancement. Every First Class Petty Officer, E 6,
eligible for advance to Chief, E 7, undergoes a massive selection and ranking board.
Board members consist of Master Chiefs, E 9, the highest enlisted rank, who hand
select which of the eligible First Class Petty Officers will be advance to Chief.
According to the Navy Times each year 3,811 to 4,352 Sailors are eligibly for
advancement to Chief. However only 15% of those eligible Sailors, roughly 1 in 7,
make Chief each year (Faram 2015). Once

  • 1. Essay On Employment Writing an essay on the topic of employment can be quite challenging due to the vast and complex nature of the subject. Employment encompasses a wide range of aspects, from economic factors and labor market trends to social and cultural influences. Crafting a comprehensive and insightful essay requires a deep understanding of these complexities and the ability to analyze and synthesize information effectively. One of the challenges lies in navigating the ever-evolving landscape of employment. Labor markets fluctuate, and employment patterns are constantly shaped by technological advancements, globalization, and socio-political changes. Staying updated with current data and trends is crucial to providing a relevant and accurate analysis. Additionally, discussing employment involves delving into various perspectives, such as the employer's viewpoint, the employee's experience, government policies, and the impact of societal attitudes towards work. Balancing these perspectives while maintaining a coherent and well- structured essay can be demanding. Furthermore, addressing the multifaceted issues related to employment often requires in-depth research and critical thinking. Whether exploring the effects of automation on job markets, analyzing the gig economy's rise, or examining the challenges faced by marginalized groups in accessing employment opportunities, a thorough investigation is necessary. Another difficulty arises in presenting a nuanced and balanced argument. Employment is a topic that touches on economic, social, and ethical dimensions. Striking the right balance and avoiding oversimplification is essential to provide a well-rounded and thoughtful discussion. In conclusion, writing an essay on employment demands not only a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter but also the ability to navigate its complexities and present a nuanced perspective. It requires diligent research, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. • 2. Management Styles Analysis Management Styles Management is a far running subject and there are many definitions of management. From my point of view, management is described as a process to get something done in the business environment. It is the person called Manager who gets various jobs done by assign works to people working with him/her. How the Manager can get the things done effectively and efficiently is an important problem that should be researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued that the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore leaders should exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as appropriate. In fact, a management style is an overall method of leadership used by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence management styles. Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed in a long time, maybe several decades, several countries, or even thousands years such as China and Japan. The custom includes how to manage enterprise, how to treat customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates. Different countries and economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in China, face issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out employees mistake in front of other workers directly, the employee might feel ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the manager in future, which surely will bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in different regions, management styles are also changing according to such differences. I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors, culture, policy, and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances. Obviously, Japan and the US display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture, society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss the features of Japan and the US at first. First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines that its national culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is
  • 3. Anne Sexton The Bells Anne Sexton was a troubled woman. She often felt neglected by her parents; unloved even, so much so that she attempted suicide. Before she succeeded in 1974, Sexton used hundreds of poems to confess her feelings. One such poem is The Bells , a seemingly simple memory of a trip to the circus. However, poetrycan never be looked at through one lens. Instead, one must look deeper to understand the message the poet is attempting to convey. And so, through a different a lens, this memory becomes a story of an incredibly complex father daughter relationship. Before analyzing the meaning, a reader must first notice the style of the poem itself. Anne Sexton, being a part of the confessionalism period, writes in first person. This deepens the suspicion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this being only the first line, diction is already important. Sexton specifically chose the word scabbed, as scabs cover wounds. Perhaps a scab is covering the wounded father daughter relationship. Line 5 furthers this idea, as Sexton writes Father, do you remember? . This line is key in understanding the father daughter relationship, as it has many meanings. For one, Sexton purposely chose Father, rather than Dad or Daddy. Father is more formal; it shows the distance between father and daughter. Sexton also asks this question because she wants to make sure this memory means as much to him as it does to her. The idea is furthered by lines 9 10, as they read ...and how the bells/ trembled for the flying man. The reader must pay close attention to the bells, as it is the title. Sexton uses this metaphor to symbolize the negative feelings to her father. The bells tremble, as Sexton would have, because she is scared. This idea is contradicted, however, by the end of stanza one. Sexton depicts a typical father daughter relationship; a child laughing on his shoulders. She depicts a relationship she wishes she
  • 4. Essay on Biblical References in Pulp Fiction Pulp Fiction Throughout the movie Pulp Fiction, directed by Quentin Tarantino, there are many hidden references to religion and the Bible. The movie starts off, introducing our two main characters, Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, as two cheap hitmen in search of a package belonging to their boss, Marcellus Wallace. The package is retrieved, and they then began their job of returning it to their boss. Along the way, they ran into difficulties, such as Vega s so called date with his boss wife, Mia, during which she overdosed on heroin, and Vega was forced to take her to the drug dealer s house to save her life, as well as the robbers in the restaurant, who try to take the suitcase from Winnfield, but were unsuccessful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He convinced Butch to throw a fight, for a cash reward. As the camera pans around, we see that Wallace had a bandage on the back of his neck. The Bible states when the Devil takes your soul, he takes it out of the back of your neck. This is where Tarantino really hinted to us about what was taking place, and this further suggests that Wallace s soul was in the suitcase. This scene also suggests that Wallace was possibly trying to play God by trying to make Butch throw the fight. These signs show us that if we try to play God, we will be punished severely. Now we saw Vincent Vega visiting a drug dealer who looked astonishingly like classic descriptions of Jesus Christ. This uncanny resemblance can only be here to show us one thing: that He is the creator of all, and can be the destroyer of all as well, just as drugs can destroy all. This is a very hidden, but well understood sign, for those of us who take the time to notice it. As it turns out, later in the film, we see the drugs that Vega bought from the dealer cause Mia to OD and she narrowly escaped death with an adrenaline shot to the heart. The adrenaline shot was administered by Vega, however it was at the dealer s house, once again showing us that He has supreme control over us, for without the dealer, Mia would never have been in this situation, nor would she have made it out if it alive. Jumping back a bit, at the beginning of the date between
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Isaac Newton s Laws Of Motion Space travel had been a dream for mankind ever since stars could be seen in the sky. Creating successful rockets wasn t easy; scientists in the seventeenth century like Galileo and Newton spent years trying to understand the laws of motions (How Rockets). Isaac Newton s three laws of motions had advanced the creation of a working rocket. His laws of motion are the building blocks of a functional rocket. Newton s first law states, an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force ( The Rocket ). A rocket on a launch pad is an object at rest. For a rocket to lift off, the force needs to push the rocket off the pad. Newton s second law of motion can be written with the equation F = ma. The engine of the rocket is generating force as long as it is ignited, thrusting particles out of the rocket. The amount of force the engine generates is equal to the mass of the rocket and the acceleration of the rocket. Since particles are pushed out of the rocket, the mass is constantly decreasing, which means the acceleration will increase (How Rockets). Rockets travel into space according to this. The principle behind Newton s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make space travel a possibility, a lot of changes have to be made. Also, the limited space restricts the number of people that can be travel into space in one rocket. Fewer amounts of people that could travel into space mean the more expensive space travel would be. The more space travel costs, the fewer amounts of people would afford

Once when mounting a step ladder to show the upholsterer, who did not understand, how he wanted the hangings draped, he made a false step and slipped, but being a strong and agile man he clung on and only knocked his side against the knob of the window frame. Followers are the important people behind a leader providing support, and constructive criticism to the leader. Barbara Kellerman a leadership lecturer at Harvard University s John F. Kennedy School of Government author of Follower ship: How Followers are Creating Change and Changing Leaders, says that significant shifts in technology and culture have changed that dynamic, giving followers more power. And there is a lot you can learn about being a good leader by learning to be a good follower. Kellerman also state that being a follower does not make you a sheep and truthfully everyone is a kind of a regular follower in any way, maybe in our families, friends, clubs, or religious groups. A big key to being a good follower is to have good awareness. When you are aware of your surrounding group and can get a feel for what they are comfortable with or not. Such as when I am around my friends I know what kind of upsets them but at the same time I know I can be a little less aware because they have similar interests and are close to my age, but if I were surrounded by strangers of a different age I would have to be very careful and be aware of what may upset them. What most people don t realize is, within these tales lies the attitudes and values of a community. These tales do not survive throughout the years solely on the basis of their entertainment level, but due to the fact that they reflect society s fears and anxieties. Males are accepted to be able to protect themselves against such crimes, because they are strong physically and mentally. This tale also implies that females often play the role of the victim while males are the perpetrator of these violent crimes. The predator male seeks and stalks its innocent female prey. If Jane was a man then the story would seem less frightening and interesting. However she is a female whose antagonist is a demented and neurotic male, thus greater fear and anxiety is created. This dominant attitude, though sexist, is a recurring theme that has existed in our society for centuries and continues to prevail till this day. The theme of violence is a popular route for most urban legends. Violence can mean the threat of one s life to the threat of one s innocence. Society dearly values life, whether due to religious or cultural influences life is sacred and precious. Thus when hearing of others life threatening stories it gets the heart racing. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, was written to help teens understand the different ways that they can improve themselves and the way they handle difficult situations. The book talks about common, everyday problems that teenagers might be facing, and how they can overcome them. Habit one says that you should be proactive rather than reactive. A proactive person is someone who takes responsibility for their actions and is able to forgive people. They understand that there are better, more fulfilling things in life than revenge. A reactive person often blames others for their problems, even when they are most likely the ones at fault. They hold grudges and have a hard time things go. Being proactive is important because if you go through life blaming other people for your mistakes, you re not going to get anywhere. By not taking responsibility for yourself, you are allowing your success to get farther away from your grasp. The cashier flows in a different direction than the pre cooked and the interactive cook lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their food. Also, the entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents quickly exit the cafeteria. RECOMMENDATIONS The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the cafГ©. They should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by the exit. There should be one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait time. Please see exhibit A for the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there is needs to be detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about the food. In Gross et al. s (2011) study, they recruited nine color graphemic synesthetes using a standardized neuropsychological measure that would trigger color graphemic synesthesia for verbal tasks. One verbal test that they used was the Paired Verbal Associates test. For this test, participants were to learn eight pairs of standard shapes and nonsense shapes. Some trials had immediate recall or a 30 minute delay. In all trials, the synesthetic participants recalled the standard shape when presented with the nonsense shape. This test was altered to reduce potential differences between the participant s synesthesia and the colors, by exchanging the colored squares with the line drawings of familiar shapes. A one way ANOVA was conducted for each trial. It revealed that all synesthetes reached ceiling on trial 3 and 4 (M=5.0 +/ 1.7), while none of the control participants reached ceiling (M= 2.89 +/ 2.2). Their results were very similar to Rothen and Meier s (2010) results. For the most part, their findings supported the cue induced encoding/retrieval hypothesis. Straight away McDunn and the narrator are established as two isolated people, as described when the narrator says : Feeling like two birds in the grey sky, McDunn and I sent the light , Also when McDunn says: It s a lonely life . All of this imagery and description creates a powerful impression of how bleak and lonely the lighthouse is. The narrator in The Signalman is a mysterious man, like the signal man himself. He does not give a lot of information about himself, not even his name. He says that he is staying in a inn: I am currently staying in a small inn in the village near by However he does not give
  • 42. An Analysis Of Andre AlexisThe Hidden Keys People are overwhelmed when stuck in between certainty and uncertainty. In the face of ambiguity, knowledge of the certain is required to obtain power, and only through the revelation of the uncertain can liberation be achieved. Despite the possibility of failure, success can be achieved and the rewards from succeeding are invaluable to the growth of character. This philosophy is solidified in AndrГ© Alexis , The Hidden Keys, through the character Tancred. Tancred is capable of finding the hidden treasure because he never let uncertaintyget the better of him; he searches for answers without knowing if there are even any to be found., hHe is a man of principle which allows him to follow his morals, not let the opinions of others affect his, and persevere until he reaches the goal. Morality is one s way of life; it helps determine right from wrong. When one encounters a moral decision, the individual is given the opportunity to think about their behaviour in order to act justly. Tancred is a moral person, but he chooses a career path that makes others believe otherwise: [H]e s been a thief from the age of eleven, but this was the first time he d had difficulty deciding what to do with a stone. It was as if the diamond had a personality (Alexis 10). This suggests that although he may be a thief, he is a thief with good nature. His good morals allow him to make decisions that put the needs of others before his own. This is evident when Willow asks a favour of Tancred: The

Sunburn is the equivalent to getting burned by material pursuits. It is said that Muriel is most sunburned because she is the most vain and superficial ( A Perfect Day for Bananafish ). The words imply that Muriel cares mostly about her appearances. Although this may be true, it is also a connection to her archetype in society. She is focused on her social status and looks than her husband. Whereas Seymour tries to avoid the sun by wearing a bathrobe. Salinger writes, I mean all he does is lie there. He won t take his bathrobe off (5). This suggests that Seymour tries to protect himself from the impurities and artificialness of society. Salinger s suggestion that Seymour subconsciously fears the corrupting influences of the world as he fears the damaging rays of the

Social Issues of Work in Ben Hamper s Book Riverhead Essays Social Issues of Work in Ben Hamper s Book Riverhead Ben Hampers book Rivethead; Tales From The Assembly Line is a gritty in your face account of a factory workers struggles against his factory, his co workers, and the time clock. Hamper makes no apologies for any of his actions, many of which were unorthodox or illegal. Instead he justifies them in a way that makes the factory workers strife apparent to those who have never set foot on an assembly line and wouldn t have the vaguest idea how much blood, sweat and tears go into the products we take for granted everyday. Rivethead is an account of the entire life of Author Ben Hamper, from his long family lineage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The assembly line principle as it matured in industrial society however, proved to destroy workers creativity and stifle the very essence of human life. Growth and change. On an assembly line workers are degraded to automatons, performing the same tasks over and over and over. Day in day out, without ever having any knowledge or input into any of the other tasks related to completion of the project. This monotony in the workplace spills over into the daily life of many factory workers and affects how they live their life outside of the factory after the whistle blows as much as it does while they re on the assembly line. This spillover was observed by Hamper of his Grandfather. Straight home from work, dinner, the evening news and immediately into bed at 7:00 p.m. He arose each weekday at 3:30 a.m., fixed himself some black coffee, turned on the kitchen radio, smoked a handful of Lucky Strikes and waited to leave for work at a quarter to five. This regimen never varied one iota in the forty years he worked for GM (Hamper pg.6). It is fairly clear that the monotony of the assembly line has a way of setting personal routines for it s workers that eventually work their way out of the factory and into the home. One interesting question that is raised, is whether people who like their life to be routinized eventually find their way to an assembly line or if the assembly line monotony brings the propensity to routinize out in
  • 46. Rationalism In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales The duration of the novels, the characters are seen lamenting their pasts and longing for a future, ready for whatever seems to be awaiting them. The journey that the pilgrims takes and the stories they tell attempts to reconcile their purpose for the journey. At the same time they reconcile their pasts, and not just their pasts but also the past of humanity. The underling issue of the novel is that the characters are unable to properly grieve for their pasts and it is ultimately recreated in an odd, intergalactic colonialism that causes a war. To begin, Pearl is a poem that is contemporary to Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales of which this novel is loosely based on. But Pearl is a dream vision/debate poem about a father who laments the death of his daughter. He falls asleep and has a vision of her as a queen in heaven. They debate about rationalism, but ultimately the debate does not have a real conclusion that comes to a satisfactory end. The emphasis of the poem is that all things are rational through faith whether or not the individual understands. There are multiple dialogues like this in Hyperion. The Bikura have dialogues like this on two occasions, once after they killed Tuk and again while figuring out what to do with DurГ© after he snuck off to the Cleft. When DurГ© aske why they killed Tuk, they gave no specific answer Your companion died the true death. You did not. [...] Why not? Why didn t you kill me?
