Henry VIII Essay
The major endeavours of Henry VIII during his reign over England from 1509 to 1547 included
the Field of the Cloth of Gold and the Reformation of the English Church. The sole reason for
these actions is said to be love and seems to be related to the King s obsession for a male heir but
other factors were involved. Paramount among these is the influence of his family in the earlier
years of his life. Other reasons such as general insecurities and competitiveness with other royal
houses are also possible motives. To say that the major endeavours of Henry VIII during his reign
were motivated by his obsession with a male heir is not completely accurate as other, more viable,
explanations are available.
The influence of Henry VIII s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry s grandmother, Margaret Beaufort, like her son, had an extreme impact on the young
Henry VIII. She was an influential force at court and dominated her grandchildren s lives in
discipline, religion and education as Wilson investigates in Reformer and Tyrant . There was
little love for Henry in his earlier years as he had not been the heir until his brother died and so
in this way his love for women and sport, which would be reflected in his latter years, grew.
Henry VIII s Family was critical in the descisions made towardsthe major endeavours of his reign
although they had been dead for years.
Henry VIII s love of Anne Boleyn was supposedly the catalyst to the reformation of the English
church. Henry VIII had not loved Anne but seems to have been merely infatuated with her as in
1528 when Anne was overcome with the sweating sickness Henry fled terrified of dying without
an heir. The fact that Anne was beheaded for adultery (which constituted treason) three years after
her initial coronation on 31st May 1533 was also proof that love had not caused this major
endeavour of Henry s time. Henry was obsessed with an heir after his first wife, Catherine of Aragon
, could not produce a male but only several miscarriages, three infants who were either still born
or died immediately after birth, two infants who had died within a few weeks of birth and one girl

Memory of a Young Boy in The poem My Papa’s Waltz by...
My Papa s Waltz The poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke presents a memory from a
young boy waltzing with his father. The waltz is a metaphor that represents the relationship the
boy has with his father. Although the poem may seem like a happy and sweet story of a father
and son dancing in the kitchen there are also some darker underlying tones. The speaker, who is
the young boy, is directing theses words towards his father, but does not actually express them
directly to the father, instead the speaker is just reflecting upon them in his head. In the first
stanza of the first line the reader finds out the father has been drinking, a lot, so much that his
son also feels dazed from the alcohol on the fathers breath. Also the boy, hung on like death (3)
this is a simile, meaning that he is hanging on tightly even though it may be hard. In the same line
the speaker uses the word death this makes the poem feel a little somber and not very happy. At
the end of the stanza in line four we find out that the boy was having difficulties waltzing with the
father, the dancing they were doing was awkward for the young boy because the father was
inebriated and loose from the drinking. Since the waltzrepresents the relationship they hold, this
could very likely mean that it is not easy to be with his father every so often. Dancing with the
father was not a quiet and graceful moment, but the young boy seems to accept it. In the second
stanza we find out they are doing more

Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay
HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics.
The first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found
in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This
epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIVspreads rapidly in a
concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in
the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex
partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other
epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the
Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because
HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population.
2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are
called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells,
also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to
bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The
second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA
into the cell. Integrate

Themes Of Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream takes us down the dark paths of four people who, in desperate attempts to
find happiness and fulfilment, become sucked into a world of drug addiction. The 2000 film by
Darren Aronofsky is based upon Hubert Selby Jr. s 1978 novel of the same name. Sara Goldfarb
(Ellen Burstyn) is a retired widow who lives by herself in a tiny apartment. She is very lonely
and spends copious amounts of time watching television; she is especially enamored with a self
help show. After a phone call leads her to believe her dreams of appearing on the show as a guest
might come true, she attempts to lose weight. She starts taking diet pills and soon finds herself
hooked, causing her mental state to deteriorate rapidly. Her son, Harry (Jared Leto), is a junkie
who, along with his friend, Tyrone (Marlon Wayans), thinks that his big break in life will be
when he becomes a big time drug dealer. He has no qualms about using his mother s beloved
television set as collateral for drug deals. Harry s girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) is a
talented clothing designer who could have a future, but she can t resist the drugs, and she finds
herself sucked into down along with Harry. The film, which is set in Brooklyn s Brighton
Beach, holds close to the theme of the novel: the real drug we re all hooked on is the American
Dream, with its promises of big cash paydays and fame and eventually happiness . . . New York

Examples Of Racism In Remember The Titans
Remember the Titans
How does gerry overcome his own racism throughout the film Remember the Titans directed by
Boaz Yakin?
My essay is about the issue of racism, how it is still alive today and that it can be overcome.
Racism is a far reaching issue in almost all countries around the world. It can be found in wealthy
societies, poor societies, sports, politics,in friendship groups, in the workplace, schools in fact
every where. Even though we have had civil wars, world wars and acts of terrorism through history
and today, racism is very much alive. All though this is all sad it can be overcome and in Rember
the Titans it is.
In the beginning of the movie our character Gerry Bertier is a successful footballer and captain for
his team The Titans from TC Williams high school.
Gerry is a white middle class student who is moving through the end of boy hood in t manhood. He
feels he has a lot of responsibilities. Gerry is openly able to talk about his feelings for black people
and coloured people right from the beginning but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

He recognizes Julius is good at football he then goes on to say how Julius has the worst type of
attitude. Julius responds saying attitude reflects leadership, captain Julius also recognizes that
Gerry is good at football and finishes his sentence with captain . Gerrys face reflects realization
that his leadership has been racist by using the black guys to make the white guys look better. Most
significantly this film shows that it can be overcome in the hospital scene, Gerry raises his left hand
to greet Julius a moment shared to tell him he remembered their argument over the poster. Gerry
tells the nurse that he considers Julius his

Sandburg And Heaney
Poetry of War War causes human beings to experience many different emotions. Civilian
bystanders and military members become uneasy, restless, and anxious. Also, like in every war,
sacrifices are made and lives are lost. Carl Sandburg and Seamus Heaney do a great job
interpreting the feelings and emotions felt during and between times of war in their two poems,
Grass (Sandburg) and From the Frontier of Writing (Heaney). Though both poems are on similar
topics, the authors use different literary techniques to get their point across to their audience. The
poems may be very similar in the literal meaning because both poems use war as the topic, but they
have different figurative ideas that are hidden behind the powerful text. Both Carl Sandburg... Show

The title From the Frontier of Writing comes from the frontier from one country to another. In a
time of war one can say that most writing and stories come from the frontier and beyond. Most
people that are not directly involved want to know what is happening and want to see writings
and stories of those directly experiencing the effects of war. All of the action is taking place at
and beyond this frontier , thus it is the point Heaney chooses to discuss because it is the first
point that those not affiliated with and directly threatened by war. In From the Frontier of Writing
, a person is speaking from experience of the passing of an entry control point at the border of one
country to another. In the statements through out the poem, Towards your window (4) and
suddenly you re through (19), he uses the second point of view as a way to tell readers his
personal experience and instruct one on how the passing of that checkpoint might go. The speaker
feels a sense of anxiety and nervousness while being stopped due to the guns on tripods . When
going through any military checkpoint or entry control point, it can cause one to experience many
different emotions and feelings of powerlessness, anxiety, violation, and fear, even when that
person may have nothing to

Hyperbole In Life Of Pi
This passage connects to the theme of parent child relationships between Pi and his father. This
passage is important towards plot development because it show the strong relationship between
Pi and his father. Santosh Patel called Pi and Ravi unexpectedly and tries to frighten them, to
keep them from being naive by going close to a ferocious carnivorous animal. This is important
towards the setting because Pi lives in a Zoo and is surrounded by animals that can easily
disfigure him. Martel uses hyperboles to exaggerate the fear of Pi by saying that his neck should
have snapped and his head should have fell to the floor because of how hard he was nodding. The
hyperbole is very effective in helping the reader to understand the fear Pi is going

Freedom Of Religion And The American Civil Liberties Union
Freedom of religion has been a right guaranteed to individuals in society. However, it is
ultimately just an idea put in place that is disregarded as something insignificant. The workplaces
of many people choose to deny employees the right to express their religion freely, for fear it may
leave a bad image for the company. It is apparent that freedom of religionis not a strong right as
many people may have originally thought it was. The limits of this right have been tested for
decades and continue to be an issue for people today. Freedom of religion may go on to exist as a
right in society, but when investigating deeper into this privilege, it is evident that it is merely an
idea taken for granted. The First Amendment to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another item to take into consideration when talking about freedom of religion is the
Establishment Clause. This clause does not allow for any portion of the government to choose to
acknowledge a particular religion. As a result, the population is scrutinized for acknowledging
religions practiced throughout the world. The government may not support a specific religion,
but ultimately owes individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a
particular belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead of
the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious organizations are ultimately
not supported by the government, in order to maintain the separation of government agencies and
religious doctrine (Your). Another important part of the First Amendment, is the recognition of
the Free Exercise Clause. This gives individuals the right to select whether or not they want to be
involved with a religion of their choice. This clause also gives security to those who want to be
able to express their religion, without fear of harsh punishments inflicted by others. Unfortunately,
many people do not express a specific religion due to the view society has. Since many people see
the freedom of religion as only an idea, there is not much emphasis placed on protecting a right that
should be the most

Persuasive Speech Outline On Mental Illness
Kaylee Gorbet Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline Destigmatizing Mental Illness Specific
Purpose: Persuade my audience to take steps to realize the truth behind mental illnesses instead
of listening to the stigmas. Central Idea: I am going to be talking about the stigmas associated
with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. Introduction I.There is an illness
that is different from any other illness or disease that we know of. This illness has few, if any,
outward physical symptoms. Most of the time, we cannot tell that a person has this illness just
by looking at them. The illness I am talking about is mental illness; I am able to say that I have
been affected by my father s mental illnesses. II.Today, I am going to be talking to you about the
stigmas associated with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma.
III.Depression, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders, etc are more common than one
might realize, but they often go unnoticed because of these stigmas. First, I will define mental
illness and give you some statistics about mental illness. Second, I will define stigma and tell
you about the ways mentally ill people have been stigmatized both in the past and today and
why. Finally, I will tell you about some laws that attempt to decrease stigma in the work place and
offer suggestions as to how to further decrease stigma. Transition: In order to understand what
mental illness is, it is helpful to have an operational definition of the term. Body I.The National
Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, race,
religion or income and defines mental illness as a medical condition that disrupts a person s
thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning... that often result in a
diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. a.Using this definition, we can
conclude that mental illness is non discriminatory and is a legitimate condition that affects a
person s ability to function in their day to day life. b.The statistics on mental illness are surprising.
NAMI s website gives the following statistics on reported mental illness. Bipolar disorder or manic

Features Selection Algorithm For Selecting Relevant Features
Abstract Process of selecting relevant features from available dataset is known as features selection.
Feature selection is use to remove or reduce redundant and irrelevant features. Various feature
selection algorithms such as CFS (correlation feature selection), FCBF (Fast Correlation Based
Filter) and CMIM (Conditional Mutual Information Maximization) are used to remove redundant
and irrelevant features. To determine efficiency and effectiveness is the aim of feature selection
algorithm. Time factor is denoted by efficiency and quality factor is denoted by effectiveness of
subset of features. Problem of feature selection algorithm is accuracy is not guaranteed,
computational complexity is large, ineffective at removing redundant features. To overcome these
problems Fast Clustering based feature selection algorithm (FAST) is used. Removal of irrelevant
features, construction of MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) from relative one and partition of MST
and selecting representative features using kruskal s method are the three steps used by FAST
algorithm.
Index Terms Feature subset selection, graph theoretic clustering, FAST
I.INTRODUCTION
Feature subset selection can be viewed as the method of identifying and removing a lot of
unrelated and unnecessary features as probable because (i) unrelated features do not give the
predictive correctness (ii) unnecessary features do not redound to receiving a superior predictor for
that they give main data which is previously

Why A Construction Worker Should Have A Degree In...
With any occupation there must some type of education earned in order to be hired. Most jobs
require a minimum high school diploma. Education can involve experience or a degree from a
university. Some occupations require experience before being concerned about degrees, and a
construction occupation is an example of this. The standard educationfor a construction worker is a
high schooldiploma, associate s degree, and 3 4 years of apprenticeship. The associate s degree is
optional depending on the company. To obtain the title of manager the education is a little different.
A worker must still have a high school diploma but they also need a bachelor s degree involving
managementor architecture. A minimum of 5 years of experience is also required to achieve

Construction is always demanded because there are always repairs needed or new buildings
being constructed. In a city there is more demand for these kind of jobs because there is more
people and more buildings than a rural or country area. The total number of jobs for construction
in 2014 was 945,400 with a 6% increase for the next 10 years. The estimated employment change
for 2024 is 60,400. With these statistics, it shows that the jobs for this particular occupational field
is increasing. In 2015, California was the state that had the biggest job increase in construction.
California added 59,300 jobs which increased the total construction jobs by 8.6%. Other states that
have also increased construction jobs are Florida, New York, and Hawaii. This proves the need for

Admiration That Brings Friends Together
Admiration is the respect given to someone because of what kind of person they are. Watson shows
Holmes such strong admiration because of the respect they have for each other and all they have
been through as friends. Admiration is like trust it is something that is built over time and how a
person treats people determines how adorable that person is. The admiration that Watson shows
Holmes throughout their investigation just seems to rebuild the brotherhood that was lost during
the time Watson spent way from solving crime. This text is about admiration because of the way
Holmes is looked up to by Watson.

Examples Of Affective Events Theory
Affective Events Theory is recognising different factors that cause employees emotional reactions
on their work and how the emotional reactions influence the employees job performance
(Greenberg, 2011). This theory helps employers to understand employees moods and emotions at
workplace. Affective Events Theory examines the impacts of work related incidents on emotional
reactions and the following consequences for attitudes and behaviour (Russell Bennett, Hartel
Beatson, n.d.). Ashkanasy (2002) stated that Affective Events Theory is the collection of a
sequence of positive or negative affective events that turns to positive or negative affective states. If
there is a negative affective event and turn to negative affective states, it will threaten attitudinal
states and behavioural reactions of employees (Ashkanasy, 2002). This theory also clarifies as an
approach of counterbalancing judgment based theories of work attitudes and behaviours (Weiss
Cropanzano, 1996).
The main idea of Affective Events Theory is the affective experience such as moods and emotions
as crucial link in shaping attitudes and behaviours (Rosen, Harris Kacmar, 2009). Based on
Greenberg (2011), positive mood leads to positive memory ... Show more content on

The Oscar Whiteness Machine, By Richard Brody
The Oscar Whiteness Machine, written by Richard Brody, was published in the online The New
Yorker January 21st, 2016. The author has written for the New Yorker since 1999 and has been
one of their white movie critics, one of the subjects of this article, since 2005. In the Article Brody
takes the stance of a social justice warrior, proclaiming war on all those complicit in the disparity
between whiteand black; especially in the filmarena. His subject changes with paragraphs, movie
critics, Oscar nominees and watchers, readers of the article, and anyone discriminatory. The
Oscar Whiteness Machine is a mix of genres but it gets its main point across, black people have
been discriminated against in the Oscars, and in life, and the film business plays a role in the
suppression of black culture. We honor the best and whitest. Neil Patrick Harris s opening line
at the Oscars in 2015 does a good job at pointing out one of the flaws of the award show that
Richard Brody so passionately writes about. The article, while aimed at the Oscars, however,
encompasses a wider issue. According to Brody this issue is the whiting out of movies about
black experience. and looking at the past two years of nominations and winners, I wouldn t say

Particularly women, begin to interpret these changes in a negative way. Some view themselves
as sexually unattractive. Men, on the other hand, don t seem to be as concerned about their
physical appearance, since society has placed much of the physical importance on the women.
This is a time where we need to accept these failings and move towards more important issues.
This is also a time when men and women become more health conscious. We all know of the
major diseases that cause premature deaths during middle adulthood, such as cancer and heart
disease. When you re a young adult, you don t think about these health issues as you would
during middle adulthood. There is more of a concern to take better care of our health, such as
heathy diets, cardiovascular activity, resistance training, and not smoking. We might be better

Semi-Barbaric King
Once there was a semi barbaric king who used his riches to get whatever he and himself wanted.
The king decided to make a coliseum the would determine the fate of a criminal accused of
committing a crime. After the king had made the laws for his entertainment it was announced to
him by a bystander that his lovely daughter that he loved greatly, had fallen in love with someone
unworthy . The princess loved, the man she loved by knowing he was handsome, strong, and the
most brave someone could be. The king had been filled with rage when he heard of it s
knowability. It took the king merely the blink of an eye to order the young man that his daughter
swooned over to be sent to prison. A date was set for the man s trial in the king s coliseum. The
king had interviewed every worthy woman to marry the prisoner, and choose the maiden the

The princess was also mad because she swore she saw him making googly eyes at the woman. I

like her father, so she thought if i can t have him she definitely cannot. In the story it states that
she came from a long line of semi barbaric ancestors. The princess did indeed love the man but
did not live him enough to let him live and possibly be happy with another woman. The princess
hated the lady gratefully, because she was beautiful and had batted an eyelash at her young man.
The man had also batted an eyelash back at the woman. The princess claims that she had seen her

America Vs Today
The America I believe in is happier than the one we are today. The present day America is full of
hatred and cruel souls. People think violence is the solution to our problems and that is obviously
not working. Americans need to pass love and happiness not bombs and bullets. Here is how
America needs to change for the better.
Though people may be facing problems in their personal life that does not give them the excuse
to be harmful to the people or life around them. One way we could eliminate one personal
problem many people face in America is to make more homeless shelters or food banquets. Maybe
if more people had a home to live in there would be a little less hatred in the world.
Murder is a huge problem in the US. Even though there is

Why Stalin Emerged as the Sole Leader of the U.S.S.R. and Not Trotsky Trotsky was a leading
Bolshevik and played a pivotal role in the revolution, persuading Lenin to delay the revolution
until the Bolshevik s had a much stronger place in the country. He also was crucial to the civil

the dull jobs within the Bolshevik party and In Lenin s last Testament, he was referred to as rude

RICA Case Study Essay
Case Report
During dissection, carried out in the anatomy laboratory, we found an absent right internal carotid
artery (RICA) with an extremely rare branching pattern. The specimen consists of a brain from a
male cadaver with the absence of the right internal carotid artery.
On the medial end of the stem of the left lateral sulcus, the left internal carotid artery (LICA)
bifurcated into the left middle cerebral artery (LMCA) and a single trunk. The left posterior
communicating artery arises from the left internal carotid artery just before its division. The left
middle cerebral artery enters the left lateral sulcus of Sylvius and it distributes as normally does.
The left main single trunk (LMST) runs anteromedially towards the longitudinal cerebral fissure,
above the optic tract and optic chiasm. Just at the beginning of the longitudinal cerebral fissure the

Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System
There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with
the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God
hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying
religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written
in the bible. They believe god created the earthin seven days and that he will soon send his son,
Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the
bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically decent with modification , this applies to
microevolution and macroevolution. (www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller
scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows. Depending on the
location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from
the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution
it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan
required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is
evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed
because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. We are able to observe small modifications; it
should be common sense that over

Television And The Spanish Radio Station
In its beginnings, no major or even minor radio station saw a future in Hispanic radio. Companies
saw the Hispanic radio as a loss rather than an unopened door to a loyal public in not only the states,
but all the way to many Mexican border cities. Yet, once brokers began the Spanish language
programming, companies noticed how profitable these programs could potentially be. Stations and
advertisers began to understand the benefit of reaching an underserved audience in their native
language, publishing station profiles and trade figures for Spanish language stations. It was only in
the late 1970s that marketers and advertisers demonstrated any real interest in this group of
consumers (O Guinn, 1980). In 1980 the Federal Communications Commission found sixty seven
Spanish oriented radio stations on the air. By the year 2000 the figure had increased dramatically to
nearly six hundred, signifying a near 500 percent increase.21 The latest 2009 figures list over one
thousand radio stations that broadcast exclusively in Spanish (Casillas, 2014). Spanish radio is
known for catering to their immigrant based listeners, which we discussed, has created an immense
amount of loyal listeners. Economic growth has been a byproduct of the stations need for
connecting with their listeners and their constant search for sufficing their needs. Economically,
this has maintained their numbers high, both in listeners and dollars. Both commercial and

1 4 33 , also known as four minutes thirty three seconds of silence , is the most famous and most
controversial musical creation of the American experimental composer John Cage (1921 1992).
Known best for his unusual or different kinds of compositions, Cage composed this piece in 1952
for any instrument or group of instruments and divided it into 3 movements, throughout which the
performer is instructed not to play the instrument during the entire 4 minutes and thirty three
seconds. And despite the fact that it is commonly known as the silent piece , it aims to manifest or

As long as his sight does not leave the stopwatch, he cannot perform it in a different pace (too fast
or too slow), nor can he play a different tone or hit the wrong keys. Hens it seems that it is all
controlled under predetermined conditions.
On the other hand, the piece in itself and by its nature is in fact more of a matter of chance and
coincidence than it is anything else. That being said, we can fairly confirm that any sound that the
listener hears during its performance is entirely and absolutely due to chance and is in fact not
intended by the performer nor is it even written by the composer.
In conclusion, John Cage s 4 33 is considered one of the most dazzling and confounding musical
pieces. Free of any predeterminations or intentions, this masterpiece is the first and only of its

background of the drawing shows some of the history of the time period. Although Egyptian art
was originally created for religious and magical purposes, it also symbolizes and functions to
reveal the Egyptian s beliefs about the world. It also shows their attempts to understand and
relate to these beliefs. In the Egyptian social and religious context, works of art played a
practical role, whose straightforward physicality is not easy for the modern viewer to realize.

recent years NASA and a team of meteorologist have been working diligently to help better improve
the tracking and prediction of hurricanes. Aside from high winds, there are much more to
hurricanes than what is understood. Before we can fully understand hurricanes we must first look
at what causes a thunderstorm to turn into a hurricane and the history of hurricanes. With rumors
that in 1494, Columbus on his second voyage recorded the first ever hurricane. In addition, we will
also be examining the role of meteorologist, hurricane windspeeds, different categories of

We will first begin by explaining the formation of a hurricane and what is needed for a tropical
storm to develop into a hurricane. Tropical storms generally take their time to progress into

Taking a Look at the Western Shoshone Nation

California, clear through Nevada, and barely touching southern Idaho. Within this scope of land is
the previously mentioned Yucca Mountain, but also Mount Tenabo, a mountain in the Cortez
Range of Northern Nevada, which is currently subject to mining. This large area of land is know as
the Great Basin, where the habitat is dependent on the rain and snow melt water which comes off

How Companies Are Managing The Foreign Exchange Risk...
1.Executive Summary
This paper discusses how companies are managing the foreign exchange risk through the use
currency options. For instance, some companies who didn t not take risk management seriously
had resulted in inefficient use of capital, increased liabilities, and reputation risk. Moreover, a
lack of certainty can cause confusion as to what a company s acceptance of risk is, such as a level
of acceptance. Without risk management, a company can become overconfident in its methods,
which could lead to a financial crisis. The failure to objectively take risks leads to bad results like a
company taking inappropriate risks not in the best long term interests of the firm. Furthermore,
poor risk management in finance could amount to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to minimise the effect of the potential losses due to foreign currency exchange rate, it
essential to understand the use of financial instrument.
Foreign exchange risk consists of three main types of exposures. First, transaction exposure is
when a firm has a contractual obligation under which it supposed to receive or pay a certain
amount in a currency that is different than its home currency. Transaction exposure has an effect of
the firm s income statement because the accounts payables or receivables can be affected by
currency exchange rates. Second foreign exchange exposure is the translation which impacts the
balance sheet of the firm. It occurs when consolidating financial statements of foreign units into a
company s home currency. The third type of foreign exchange exposure is the economic which
influences a firm s cash flows when exchange rates change. This type of exposure can impact
assets, liabilities, or any type of anticipated foreign currency cash exchange.
The starting point of any foreign exchange risk management plan is to identify the exchange
exposure faced. In controlling the foreign exchange risk, currency options have attained acceptance
as very helpful tools due to their exclusive nature. They are very critical and convey a much wider
range of hedging alternatives. Call options provide the right to the buyer to purchase the

The Atomic Bomb was the deadliest weapons in the history of war. Throughout World War II one of
the most stubborn countries to surrender was Japan who relentlessly fought against the United
States of America. After failing to defeat America, Japan was overwhelmed by allied forces.
Staying with tradition however, Japan would rather die in battle than to surrender. The Soviet
Union also fought against America but that was towards the end of the war. The United States
dropped both of the Atomic Bombs in order to intimidate the Soviet Union and to make Japan to

To be captured was a disgrace and extremely frowned upon in Japan. America gave Japan fair
warning about an explosive device and if they did not declare a surrender, America would use it
against them. Unfortunately they do not heed warning. On August 6, 1945, during World War II
(1939 45), an American B 29 bomber dropped the world s first deployed Atomic Bomb over the
Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately

The Ongoing debate: Is High Fructose Corn Syrup worse for you than sugar?

Psalm 1 Analysis
Part 1: Introduction and Context of the Passage
You will write an introduction that serves as an overview of the content of the paper, providing
background and cultural information about the setting of the book in which the selected passage
occurs.
Psalm 1 is a fitting introduction for the Book of Psalms in that it summarizes the two ways open to
mankind, the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked.
This psalm describes the blessed man who leads an untarnished and prosperous life in accord with
the Word of the Lord, and contrasts him with the ungodly who shall perish.
Author: Since the book is a collection of many different psalms written over a long time, there is
not just one author for this collection. By far the most common designation in the titles is
Davidic, which may refer to David as the author of those psalms. David s role as a musician in Saul
s court (1Sam 16:14 23) as well as his many experiences as a shepherd, a soldier, and a king make
him a likely candidate for writing many of these psalms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is nothing more than a preposition attached to David s name.

individuals but used by the community.
There are myriad messages scattered through the 150 psalms, but overall, this record of the
responses of God s people in worship and prayer serves the purpose of teaching us how to relate
to God in various circumstances of life. The psalms also demonstrate God s sovereignty and
goodness for His people in order to instill confidence in those who trust in Him.
What is the background of Psalm 1?
The writer of this psalm, though not named, was doubtlessly a man with deep insight into life.

Allegory In The Handmaids Tale
The post Gileadean society depicted decades after Offred s story is the final allegory, presenting,
in its totality, the cyclicality of human nature. Just as the rise of Gilead showed the downfall of
liberalism and feminism, the fall of Gilead showed the exact opposite, a return to a world very
similar to the one before Gilead ever existed. In the novel, a symposium on the history of Gilead
describes how Gilead is a fascinating and worthwhile talk (299), using many similar descriptors
as are used to speak of the other classically conservative religious society, Puritanical
Massachusetts. Atwood presents how, just as the rise of Gilead signalled an end to the progression
of economic and social liberalism, the fall of Gilead showed the end... Show more content on

In the novel Moira is described as extremely free spirited and empowered to do as she wishes
before Gilead. During Gilead, her mindset stays the same, as using her extremely powerful
confidence, as her stiff backed posture was apparently enough to convince the Angels on
guard... Moira marched straight out the front door (132). Even under the crushing oppression of
Gilead, people like Moira and Offred keep up their resentment towards being told what to do,
even if the format changes. It is described how in Gilead, Offred decides against being a victim: I
intend to last , she declares. To last, she must pay attention. Especially early on in the novel, she
is alert to every detail around her (Neuman 4). On the more negative spectrum of unchanging
human qualities, Atwood presents the eternal establishment of social classes, even with the
purported ideas that everyone be equal in oppression. In Gilead racial and social divides abound,
as it is reported how The Econowives do not like [Handmaids] (Atwood 44). This, and the fact that
the symposium describes the racism that occurred in Gilead, shows how, no matter what the
society is, people will always carve out a space for them on the social ladder, only to look down on
those below them and envy those above them. The fact that humans, under either an extremely

system to make it easier for competitors and organizations to adopt this type of system.
The concept of lean production in a manufacturing organization basically means to try and
maximise the use of materials to achieve optimum customer value and at the same time reducing
waste and ensuring the same standard of quality in the finished product. Reducing the resources
means it will cheaper for the organization to create the product plus also for the ... Show more

* Takt time The rate of production is aligned with the customer need.
* Error proofing Error detection to reduce defects
* Kaizen Having employees together to improve the manufacturing process.
* Just in time Most effective way of reducing inventory levels as it creates products based on
customer demands.
* Policy deployment Focuses on having good communications through the whole structure of the
organization.
Through this concept of lean to reduce waste and the many tools of lean production there are plenty
of advantages to observe such as:
* It can reduce overhead fixed cost to 30%
* It reduces the operational cost within an organization
* It can also raise the competiveness of a manufacturing organization
* It is also believed that the implementation of lean can reduce the manufacturing time
* It can also increase profit especially at the start and then helps maintain these earnings
* Plus as we know it can cut nearly all types of waste
* Since the manufacturing lead time is reduced it has a knock on effect that reduces energy costs
* Implementing lean has a keen view of making the workspace as efficient as possible which is a
primary factor in keeping the organization running effectively
* The required workspace is also reduced
* Productivity in a manufacturing organization can be increased as much as 80%
* Customer relations improvements means again reduced waste
* Frustration on the job is reduced

Evolution Of The New American Cinema
The studio system was a method of film production and distribution dominated by a small
number of studios in Hollywood during the Hollywood Golden Age. During the early 1900 s
many of the movie production companies moved from the East Coast to warmer climates in states
like California, Texas, and New Mexico. Relocating to these locations with warmer weather
climates provided more settings for movies to be shot outdoors utilizing beautiful natural scenery,
abundant sunlight for scenes, and eventually formed a small conglomerate of studios that we now
call Hollywood. During the Golden Age the studio system consisted of eight major studios and out
of these eight studios, five of them were major conglomerates. (Looking at Movies, page 468 469)
The studio system was challenged by a Supreme Court ruling in 1938; the court decided that the
major films studios represented a monopoly and went on to implement anti trust laws to disband the
monopoly. It then took another six years before the studios complied and decided to leave the
production of films. (www.cybercollege.com)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were the assassinations of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. During all of this
tumultuous change, the New American Cinema was born. The changes that occurred from the old
American Cinema to the new American Cinema has been referred to as a phenomenon. When the
old studio system collapsed, it was replaced with scattered enterprises known as independent
filmmakers. This change had both positive and negative impacts on the cinema industry. There
were declining audiences, competition from television networks, and escalating production costs.
The upside was that there were conventions adapted such as; new modes of expression to better
meet the audience expectations and more shooting on location, which resulted in better quality

The Origins Of Piracy In The 17th Century
The origins of modern piracy can be traced back to the 17th century when European states began
to commercially compete for trade routes via the high seas to exploit new markets for trade and
resources. At the time oceans, lacked any regulation, law, and order. Countries such as England,
France, and Spain hired pirate groups to attack enemy ships and steal materials that were found
on board. This time period is often referred to as the Golden Age of Piracy, however, piracy
continues to occur even today. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number
of attacks on vessels by pirates, particularly in the Gulf of Aden, Somali Basin and the Indian
Ocean. In the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea piracy is defined as illegal

President George Bush Essay
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents,
he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States.
Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of
being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never
gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when
George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated
from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of
Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a... Show more

He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing
football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush
admired his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in
history. George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However,
some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader
were pre political experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he
faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for
the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White
House. After he attended Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: not a
powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a
crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction (The New York Times Company). When
he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built
successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without becoming engaged in
policy details (The New York Times Company). George Bush, the forty first president, was
surprised to see his first born son become interested in politics,

Insomni Symptoms And Treatments
Insomnia? Do you know what insomnia is? Is insomnia, short term, long term, or both? The many
types/forms of insomnia, there is? How much insomnia can affect someone or even your own life?
Insomnia could have a huge, or small effect on your life. Many famous people such as Lady Gaga,
Madonna, Eninem, Sandra Bullock, and also George Clooney have insomnia. Even though these
famous people have insomnia, they have found many ways to cope with it, and live their lives.
On the other hand, there are many different forms of insomnia. You will briefly learn about each
form of insomnia, what I personally think insomnia is, the causes and effects it has, symptoms,
and mainly its treatments. Which brings me to my thesis; do you think you would be able to
cope with insomnia, and what the different types of diagnoses for insomnia are? For starters
insomnia, for me, means not having a good night s sleep, because you are having a hard time
falling asleep, and also staying asleep. If you are not getting enough rest you can take pills such
as melatonin, which tells your brain that it is time to sleep. Also, this could cause you to not be
fully rested when you have to start your day, not having enough energy to complete your daily
duties. All of these things result in you not being able to live up to your potentials in life. Although
there other, more detailed definitions of insomnia, here is an example of a well detailed definition
of insomnia. Insomnia is a common sleep disorder. People who

  • 2. Henry VIII Essay The major endeavours of Henry VIII during his reign over England from 1509 to 1547 included the Field of the Cloth of Gold and the Reformation of the English Church. The sole reason for these actions is said to be love and seems to be related to the King s obsession for a male heir but other factors were involved. Paramount among these is the influence of his family in the earlier years of his life. Other reasons such as general insecurities and competitiveness with other royal houses are also possible motives. To say that the major endeavours of Henry VIII during his reign were motivated by his obsession with a male heir is not completely accurate as other, more viable, explanations are available. The influence of Henry VIII s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry s grandmother, Margaret Beaufort, like her son, had an extreme impact on the young Henry VIII. She was an influential force at court and dominated her grandchildren s lives in discipline, religion and education as Wilson investigates in Reformer and Tyrant . There was little love for Henry in his earlier years as he had not been the heir until his brother died and so in this way his love for women and sport, which would be reflected in his latter years, grew. Henry VIII s Family was critical in the descisions made towardsthe major endeavours of his reign although they had been dead for years. Henry VIII s love of Anne Boleyn was supposedly the catalyst to the reformation of the English church. Henry VIII had not loved Anne but seems to have been merely infatuated with her as in 1528 when Anne was overcome with the sweating sickness Henry fled terrified of dying without an heir. The fact that Anne was beheaded for adultery (which constituted treason) three years after her initial coronation on 31st May 1533 was also proof that love had not caused this major endeavour of Henry s time. Henry was obsessed with an heir after his first wife, Catherine of Aragon , could not produce a male but only several miscarriages, three infants who were either still born or died immediately after birth, two infants who had died within a few weeks of birth and one girl . • 5. Memory of a Young Boy in The poem My Papa’s Waltz by... My Papa s Waltz The poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke presents a memory from a young boy waltzing with his father. The waltz is a metaphor that represents the relationship the boy has with his father. Although the poem may seem like a happy and sweet story of a father and son dancing in the kitchen there are also some darker underlying tones. The speaker, who is the young boy, is directing theses words towards his father, but does not actually express them directly to the father, instead the speaker is just reflecting upon them in his head. In the first stanza of the first line the reader finds out the father has been drinking, a lot, so much that his son also feels dazed from the alcohol on the fathers breath. Also the boy, hung on like death (3) this is a simile, meaning that he is hanging on tightly even though it may be hard. In the same line the speaker uses the word death this makes the poem feel a little somber and not very happy. At the end of the stanza in line four we find out that the boy was having difficulties waltzing with the father, the dancing they were doing was awkward for the young boy because the father was inebriated and loose from the drinking. Since the waltzrepresents the relationship they hold, this could very likely mean that it is not easy to be with his father every so often. Dancing with the father was not a quiet and graceful moment, but the young boy seems to accept it. In the second stanza we find out they are doing more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics. The first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIVspreads rapidly in a concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population. 2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell. • 7. Themes Of Requiem For A Dream Requiem for a Dream takes us down the dark paths of four people who, in desperate attempts to find happiness and fulfilment, become sucked into a world of drug addiction. The 2000 film by Darren Aronofsky is based upon Hubert Selby Jr. s 1978 novel of the same name. Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn) is a retired widow who lives by herself in a tiny apartment. She is very lonely and spends copious amounts of time watching television; she is especially enamored with a self help show. After a phone call leads her to believe her dreams of appearing on the show as a guest might come true, she attempts to lose weight. She starts taking diet pills and soon finds herself hooked, causing her mental state to deteriorate rapidly. Her son, Harry (Jared Leto), is a junkie who, along with his friend, Tyrone (Marlon Wayans), thinks that his big break in life will be when he becomes a big time drug dealer. He has no qualms about using his mother s beloved television set as collateral for drug deals. Harry s girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) is a talented clothing designer who could have a future, but she can t resist the drugs, and she finds herself sucked into down along with Harry. The film, which is set in Brooklyn s Brighton Beach, holds close to the theme of the novel: the real drug we re all hooked on is the American Dream, with its promises of big cash paydays and fame and eventually happiness . . . • 8. Examples Of Racism In Remember The Titans Remember the Titans How does gerry overcome his own racism throughout the film Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin? My essay is about the issue of racism, how it is still alive today and that it can be overcome. Racism is a far reaching issue in almost all countries around the world. It can be found in wealthy societies, poor societies, sports, politics,in friendship groups, in the workplace, schools in fact every where. Even though we have had civil wars, world wars and acts of terrorism through history and today, racism is very much alive. All though this is all sad it can be overcome and in Rember the Titans it is. In the beginning of the movie our character Gerry Bertier is a successful footballer and captain for his team The Titans from TC Williams high school. • 9. Sandburg And Heaney Poetry of War War causes human beings to experience many different emotions. Civilian bystanders and military members become uneasy, restless, and anxious. Also, like in every war, sacrifices are made and lives are lost. Carl Sandburg and Seamus Heaney do a great job interpreting the feelings and emotions felt during and between times of war in their two poems, Grass (Sandburg) and From the Frontier of Writing (Heaney). Though both poems are on similar topics, the authors use different literary techniques to get their point across to their audience. The poems may be very similar in the literal meaning because both poems use war as the topic, but they have different figurative ideas that are hidden behind the powerful text. Both Carl Sandburg... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title From the Frontier of Writing comes from the frontier from one country to another. In a time of war one can say that most writing and stories come from the frontier and beyond. Most people that are not directly involved want to know what is happening and want to see writings and stories of those directly experiencing the effects of war. All of the action is taking place at and beyond this frontier , thus it is the point Heaney chooses to discuss because it is the first point that those not affiliated with and directly threatened by war. In From the Frontier of Writing , a person is speaking from experience of the passing of an entry control point at the border of one country to another. In the statements through out the poem, Towards your window (4) and suddenly you re through (19), he uses the second point of view as a way to tell readers his personal experience and instruct one on how the passing of that checkpoint might go. The speaker feels a sense of anxiety and nervousness while being stopped due to the guns on tripods . • 11. Freedom Of Religion And The American Civil Liberties Union Freedom of religion has been a right guaranteed to individuals in society. However, it is ultimately just an idea put in place that is disregarded as something insignificant. The workplaces of many people choose to deny employees the right to express their religion freely, for fear it may leave a bad image for the company. It is apparent that freedom of religionis not a strong right as many people may have originally thought it was. The limits of this right have been tested for decades and continue to be an issue for people today. Freedom of religion may go on to exist as a right in society, but when investigating deeper into this privilege, it is evident that it is merely an idea taken for granted. The First Amendment to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another item to take into consideration when talking about freedom of religion is the Establishment Clause. This clause does not allow for any portion of the government to choose to acknowledge a particular religion. As a result, the population is scrutinized for acknowledging religions practiced throughout the world. The government may not support a specific religion, but ultimately owes individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a particular belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead of the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious organizations are ultimately not supported by the government, in order to maintain the separation of government agencies and religious doctrine (Your). Another important part of the First Amendment, is the recognition of the Free Exercise Clause. This gives individuals the right to select whether or not they want to be involved with a religion of their choice. This clause also gives security to those who want to be able to express their religion, without fear of harsh punishments inflicted by others. Unfortunately, many people do not express a specific religion due to the view society has. Since many people see the freedom of religion as only an idea, there is not much emphasis placed on protecting a right that should be the most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Persuasive Speech Outline On Mental Illness Kaylee Gorbet Persuasive Speech Preparation Outline Destigmatizing Mental Illness Specific Purpose: Persuade my audience to take steps to realize the truth behind mental illnesses instead of listening to the stigmas. Central Idea: I am going to be talking about the stigmas associated with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. Introduction I.There is an illness that is different from any other illness or disease that we know of. This illness has few, if any, outward physical symptoms. Most of the time, we cannot tell that a person has this illness just by looking at them. The illness I am talking about is mental illness; I am able to say that I have been affected by my father s mental illnesses. II.Today, I am going to be talking to you about the stigmas associated with mental illness and what we can do to decrease this stigma. III.Depression, generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders, etc are more common than one might realize, but they often go unnoticed because of these stigmas. First, I will define mental illness and give you some statistics about mental illness. Second, I will define stigma and tell you about the ways mentally ill people have been stigmatized both in the past and today and why. Finally, I will tell you about some laws that attempt to decrease stigma in the work place and offer suggestions as to how to further decrease stigma. Transition: In order to understand what mental illness is, it is helpful to have an operational definition of the term. Body I.The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) states that mental illnesses can affect persons of any age, race, religion or income and defines mental illness as a medical condition that disrupts a person s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning... that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. a.Using this definition, we can conclude that mental illness is non discriminatory and is a legitimate condition that affects a person s ability to function in their day to day life. b.The statistics on mental illness are surprising. NAMI s website gives the following statistics on reported mental illness. Bipolar disorder or manic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Features Selection Algorithm For Selecting Relevant Features Abstract Process of selecting relevant features from available dataset is known as features selection. Feature selection is use to remove or reduce redundant and irrelevant features. Various feature selection algorithms such as CFS (correlation feature selection), FCBF (Fast Correlation Based Filter) and CMIM (Conditional Mutual Information Maximization) are used to remove redundant and irrelevant features. To determine efficiency and effectiveness is the aim of feature selection algorithm. Time factor is denoted by efficiency and quality factor is denoted by effectiveness of subset of features. Problem of feature selection algorithm is accuracy is not guaranteed, computational complexity is large, ineffective at removing redundant features. To overcome these problems Fast Clustering based feature selection algorithm (FAST) is used. Removal of irrelevant features, construction of MST (Minimum Spanning Tree) from relative one and partition of MST and selecting representative features using kruskal s method are the three steps used by FAST algorithm. Index Terms Feature subset selection, graph theoretic clustering, FAST I.INTRODUCTION Feature subset selection can be viewed as the method of identifying and removing a lot of unrelated and unnecessary features as probable because (i) unrelated features do not give the predictive correctness (ii) unnecessary features do not redound to receiving a superior predictor for that they give main data which is previously ... • 19. Examples Of Affective Events Theory Affective Events Theory is recognising different factors that cause employees emotional reactions on their work and how the emotional reactions influence the employees job performance (Greenberg, 2011). This theory helps employers to understand employees moods and emotions at workplace. Affective Events Theory examines the impacts of work related incidents on emotional reactions and the following consequences for attitudes and behaviour (Russell Bennett, Hartel Beatson, n.d.). Ashkanasy (2002) stated that Affective Events Theory is the collection of a sequence of positive or negative affective events that turns to positive or negative affective states. If there is a negative affective event and turn to negative affective states, it will threaten attitudinal states and behavioural reactions of employees (Ashkanasy, 2002). This theory also clarifies as an approach of counterbalancing judgment based theories of work attitudes and behaviours (Weiss Cropanzano, 1996). The main idea of Affective Events Theory is the affective experience such as moods and emotions as crucial link in shaping attitudes and behaviours (Rosen, Harris Kacmar, 2009). The author has written for the New Yorker since 1999 and has been one of their white movie critics, one of the subjects of this article, since 2005. In the Article Brody takes the stance of a social justice warrior, proclaiming war on all those complicit in the disparity between whiteand black; especially in the filmarena. His subject changes with paragraphs, movie critics, Oscar nominees and watchers, readers of the article, and anyone discriminatory. The Oscar Whiteness Machine is a mix of genres but it gets its main point across, black people have been discriminated against in the Oscars, and in life, and the film business plays a role in the suppression of black culture. We honor the best and whitest. Neil Patrick Harris s opening line at the Oscars in 2015 does a good job at pointing out one of the flaws of the award show that Richard Brody so passionately writes about. The article, while aimed at the Oscars, however, encompasses a wider issue. According to Brody this issue is the whiting out of movies about black experience. and looking at the past two years of nominations and winners, I wouldn t say he s wrong (Brody 1). Atheism Is Not A Religion, A Worldview Or A Belief System There have been numerous debates between the religious and atheists, and all seem to end with the same conclusion: neither side changed at all. Atheism is defined as the rejection of the God hypothesis. Atheism is not a religion, a worldview or a belief system; they are just denying religious claims that fail to provide evidence. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus Christ written in the bible. They believe god created the earthin seven days and that he will soon send his son, Jesus to earth to take the faithful to heaven. Deep analyzation of evolution, creationism, and the bible will surely reveal the truth. Evolution, is basically decent with modification , this applies to microevolution and macroevolution. (www.evolution.berkeley.edu) Evolution, when on a smaller scale is defined as microevolution; an example would be the house sparrows. Depending on the location the sparrows have different characteristics, some are larger and heavier to protect from the cold while others are lighter to withstand heat. There is so much evidence for microevolution it s almost impossible to deny. Microevolution is observable because of the short timespan required for it to take place. The controversy begins when you get into macroevolution which is evolution on a much bigger scale. Usually referring to a change in species, this cannot be observed because it takes longer than one lifespan to detect. Companies saw the Hispanic radio as a loss rather than an unopened door to a loyal public in not only the states, but all the way to many Mexican border cities. Yet, once brokers began the Spanish language programming, companies noticed how profitable these programs could potentially be. Stations and advertisers began to understand the benefit of reaching an underserved audience in their native language, publishing station profiles and trade figures for Spanish language stations. It was only in the late 1970s that marketers and advertisers demonstrated any real interest in this group of consumers (O Guinn, 1980). In 1980 the Federal Communications Commission found sixty seven Spanish oriented radio stations on the air. By the year 2000 the figure had increased dramatically to nearly six hundred, signifying a near 500 percent increase.21 The latest 2009 figures list over one thousand radio stations that broadcast exclusively in Spanish (Casillas, 2014).
