Essay On Diwali Festival
Writing an essay on the Diwali festival can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, the
topic is rich with cultural significance, historical depth, and a myriad of traditions associated
with the festival of lights. On the other hand, the challenge lies in presenting a unique
perspective that goes beyond the clichГ©s often associated with Diwali.
To begin with, delving into the history of Diwali requires thorough research to provide a
comprehensive understanding of its origins, religious significance, and the various customs
associated with its celebration. Navigating through the diverse cultural practices across different
regions and communities adds another layer of complexity to the task. Balancing historical
accuracy with engaging storytelling becomes crucial to capture the reader's attention.
Furthermore, discussing the spiritual and symbolic aspects of Diwali demands a nuanced
approach. Addressing the religious diversity within the celebration, from the Hindu mythology
of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya to the Jain and Sikh interpretations, requires a delicate
handling of the subject matter. Weaving these intricate threads into a cohesive narrative while
maintaining a clear and focused essay structure poses a considerable writing challenge.
Another aspect to consider is the exploration of the contemporary celebration of Diwali.
Analyzing how traditions have evolved over time and how the festival is observed in the modern
context demands a keen awareness of cultural shifts and societal changes. Tackling issues like
environmental concerns related to firecrackers or the commercialization of the festival adds
depth to the essay but also necessitates a balanced and objective perspective.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the Diwali festival may seem daunting due to its
multifaceted nature, it also offers an opportunity for personal growth and a deeper
understanding of cultural diversity. By navigating through historical intricacies, religious
nuances, and contemporary issues, one can craft an essay that not only informs but also engages
the reader on a profound level.

The Merchants Of Cool
In Rushkoff s film, The Merchants of Cool, he rhetorically questions if teenagers
even have a culture to call distinctly their own. In the late 1990 s when the
documentary was made, the implication was that they do not. However, with the
internet s advancements and the accessibility of communication with massive
amounts of people, teenagers today can form authentic cultures that are not
contaminated by the corporate media. When the documentary was produced, media
exposure was limited to private and expensive mediums such as television, movies
and radio. These outlets were plagued with marketing agendas designed to sell
products under the guise of authentic music and entertainment. Formerly non existent
cultural archetypes such as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media chooses to portray and sell sex, violence, drama and role models
because it appeals to teenagers biological and evolutionary instincts. The excessive
amounts of sex hormones being produced in teenagers boosts libido causing
displays of eroticism to be very alluring. Scenes of action or violence release
adrenaline and endorphins for emotional stimulation and teen idols like NSYNC
and Edward Cullen portray the ideal mate for many girls. The music presented is
mostly homogenous and simple to promote familiarity and emotional response.
Had these businesses tried to sell celibacy, indifference and pariahs, their profits
would have declined. In The Merchants of Cool, Rushkoff goes to a teenage party
to survey rising trends and notices a strange phenomenon. The girls dancing in front
of his camera seemed to be selling the same exaggerated sex appeal that
corporations were selling to the teenagers. He labeled this sensation a sort of giant
feedback loop which implied that, since corporations try to mirror teenage behavior
and then pervert that into a more explicit version to sell back, which in turn causes
teenagers to emulate the corporation s behavior, teenagers are incapable of having a
genuine culture to call their own, much like the young
The Importance Of The Federal Reserve System
The Federal Reserve System plays an important role in the economy. It was created
to predict and prevent or solve problems that arise from financial crises . Financial
crises can cause a panic and panic can lead to a recession. Generally, when people
think there is a panic, they rush to their bank and withdraw all their money
eventually, the bank runs out money this is when the Federal Reserve intervenes. The
Federal Reserve measures and calculates different aspects of the economy and
considers the outcomes to make important economic decisions and plans. The Federal
Reserve Systemis a system created to maximize employment, stabilize prices, ensure
moderate long term interest rates and prevent a recession or try to stop it. In order to

It helps policy makers to assess the different outcomes and make policy changes based
on the information from the Philips curve. There are two types of Phillips curves.
One is the short run Phillips curve, which shows the inverse relationship between
inflation and unemployment rates. The second is the long run Phillips curve, which
is the straight line that shows the opportunity cost of inflation and unemployment.
However, opportunity cost means gain and loss inflation and unemployment are not
related in the long run Phillips curve. Many economists argue on whether the Phillips

Chad Johnson
Tonight was the big premiere of Bachelor in Paradise and also the return of Chad
Johnson. If you watched the episode, you know that he was a bit of a trainwreck on
the premiere. Glamour got the chance to talk to host Chris Harrison during the
filming of the show and find out exactly what went down with Chad. Chris Harrison
wasn t afraid to share exactly how it all went down.
When it comes to Chad, Chris Harrison shared his thoughts on what is really up
with him. Chris said, Here s the thing about Chad, [and I know] we re going to
catch some heat about bringing Chad back because of the threats of violence and all
that stuff. Chad is not a bad person. People get labeled very easily, and of course on

As everyone knows, Chris Harrison ended up sending him home and actually hopes
that he can get some help for his issues.
Some people might think that the producers sent him home because they were afraid
he would hurt someone, but Chris Harrison said that is not the case at all. He felt
like the way that Johnson was acting was keeping everyone else from having their
own chance to find love. Harrison spoke out and said, He had really been verbally
abusive to some of the staff, to some of our crew, other people, and I started having
a conversation with him. Again, it was a chance for him to be contrite and a chance
to come to terms with the fact that he had been out of hand, and his behavior was
inappropriate.
When Chad and Chris Harrison were talking, things ended up going downhill. Chris
Harrison said that Chad was really rude to him, and he just made the decision right
then it was time to send him home. Things got pretty bad, and Harrison said that
before it was all over with he was even called a few names. This didn t keep them
from inviting Johnson to the finale of The Bachelorette last night and even letting
him tease that he wanted the job as The

Theme Of Women In A Gun For Sale By Graham Greene
Graham Greene has written many novels in his life and has placed his experiences
within his stories. Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out
his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and
usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A
Gun for Sale and Brighton Rockleave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied
with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only
influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s
female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the
relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil.
Greene utilizes the theme of innocenceversus corruption, to develop the
characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well
as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the
corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism.
Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together
to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these
words mean? If innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being
unacquainted with evil, then none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be
considered innocent because they all at one point or throughout the entire story are
acquainted with evil. However,
A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control...
A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the
Comstock Laws. Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a
congressman who wanted to put a ban on spreading pornography through the U.S
mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon broadened what the Comstock laws covered,
to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail that had to do with contraceptives,
even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she was arrested many
times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally had
her biggest victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S
v. One Package of Japanese Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock
Laws unconstitutional, but it did rule that contraceptives and information regarding
them could be shared through the mail, a huge accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles,
2009, pg.8).
Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and
continues to influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then
and now. Birth rates are a huge indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe
abortions improved throughout the years. In 1930, the birth rate was 20.7 births to
every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg. 101). Birth rates have
trended downwards throughout the years and in 2013, the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that the current birthrate was down to 12.4 live
births to every

To start out, any eruptions could melt the ice. Considering global warming is a
huge concern, this would contribute to that as well as causing the ocean levels to
rise. If there were many eruptions, and a lot of the ice melted, it could cause ocean
levels to rise far enough to put some parts of coastal communities underwater. This
could affect my life directly, because if this were to happen we would see much of
the Florida Everglades disappear, and my family has a house down there. It would
affect thousands, if not millions around the world. For example, Venice is already

which would force emergency evacuation of the historical city. People around the
world would lose their homes they worked so hard
Other Relevant Explanations Of Vedic Astrology
Other Relevant Explanations
Vedic astrology further classifies human life span according planetary periods called
Dashas, both Main (Maha) and Sub (Antar or Bukti) periods. Knowing a particular
planetary Dasha helps us determine the quality of the time concerned, vis a vis the
influence of the major transits of planets during that Dasha period.
Currently you are subject to Shani (Saturn) Maha Dasa which began on June 2004
and goes on until June 2023. Prior to this, you were subject to Jupiter or Guru
Maha Dasa for 16years from June 1988 until June 2004. The 16 years of Guru Dasa
would have provided you with marriage, gains, financial assets, children and
successful family life. During this period your overall position in life, including ...

Further, Shani s malefic expression affecting marriage and spouse is because; in
your horoscope Guru (Jupiter ) denotes spouse. And among significations in a family
or relationship Ravi (Surya/Sun) denotes the official or socially recognized position
for the male spouse. Now Shani is a bitter enemy of Surya (Sun). Hence, between
2004 and 2007 when transit Saturn (Gochara Shani) enters your 3rd house of
communication he afflicts natal Guru who sits in your 3rd house. Now according to
Jyotish classification natal Guru clearly denotes your spouse. Hence, by virtue of
transit Shani s entry into your 3rd house from May 2004 and October 2006, he
negatively conjuncts with natal Guru afflicting communication and martial harmony
between you and your husband.
Note: in the natural zodiac 3rd house denotes communication. And in the Vedic
system of significations Guru(Jupiter) denotes spouse in a female s chart. Now in
your horoscope 3rd house is also the sign of Cancer or Kataka. And Kataka is ruled
by Chandra (Moon). And in Jyotish Moon denotes our mind. Therefore, without a
shadow of doubt the entry of Gochara Shani upon the house of communication will
inflict his poison upon the mind of the spouses; causing separation and affliction of
marriage.
Next between October 2006 and September 2009 Gochara Shani enters your 4th
house denoting home, bonds of attachments and legal ties. Now your 4th house is the

Is Ned Kelly A Victim Or A Villain
Ned Kelly; victim, villain, hero
Ned Kelly, an Australian outlaw, made his way into Australian history books, but
for what? The notorious villain or a victim of law. Many of his actions made the
public petrified at the sound of the name, yet others saw him as a beacon of light.
Fighting for a fair police department. Although Ned and his gang shoot dead three
innocent police men this does not make him a villain, neither a victim. Ned showed
aspects of a hero, villain and victim throughout his life such as the robbery at the
Jerilderie bank.
Ned Kelly was almost destined to turn to bank hold ups with his family cruelly
misjudged by the Victorian police. Ned s mother was wrongly accused of
assaulting a police officer. Than she was sentenced to 3 years of jail and hard
labour. Ned went around breaking the law to create a fairer law. With the money,
he had stolen, he gave to friends and family such as his mother who he paid bail for.
He never stole from the poor but as such gave back to the poor. No doubt I am now

Dangerous Toys for Our Children As a mother, there is no greater concern than the
safety of our children. Yet with the recent reports of lead in toys for kids, mothers
and fathers alike now have a new worry. One of the world s largest entrusted and
respected toy companies has been criticized for producing toys with hazardous levels
of lead paint. Some of the toys produced by Mattel also contain small magnets that

The magnets can stick to one another through human tissue, leading to punctures.
According to the CPSC s website, the children suffered intestinal tears that required
surgery. The company has ordered that all products be pulled off retail shelves, said
Nancy Nord, acting chairwoman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The
1.5 million toys recalled by Fisher Price s preschool division included Elmo, Big
Bird, and Dora, all made in China. The recall was prompted by concerns about lead
paint and risks associated with small, high powered magnets (CNN, 2007).
According to the executive vice president for Mattel International, the dangerous
levels of lead paint came from the subcontractor of a vendor that did not use
certified paint. The subcontractor has been associated with this company for 20
years. Eckert said Mattel has changed the way it attaches magnets to its toys to make
them safer. These recent statements mark the latest in a series of recalls of defective
products made in China, which is the second largest trading partner of the United
States after Canada. Incidentally, China produces 80 percent of the world s toys. To
prevent these problems from recurring, Nord said the Chinese manufacturers are
coming to Washington, D.C. this fall for product safety training sessions (CNN,
2007). In conclusion, we must make sure that our government lives up to its
Modern American Liberalism Research Paper
According to Roskin s text, ideology is a belief system that society can be
improved by following certain doctrines . In politics, ideology cements together
movements, parties, and revolutionary groups. It s a way of explaining reality, of
searching for certainty or what some would call truth it allows us to draw
conclusions upon which we can take action. While particular ideologies may rise or
fall, ideological forms of politics seem to be an enduring feature of world history. The
textbook contends that in line with Adam Smith s thinking, classic liberalismexpelled

It could be claimed that it is not just an ideology but is the ideology for all mankind,
a fundamental truth that is not culturally specific to the West but is of global value.
Modern American liberals value institutions that defend against economic inequality.
Modern American liberalism is typically associated with the Democratic party, as
modern American conservatism is typically associated with the Republican party.
Liberals typically accept scientific ideas that some conservatives reject, such as
evolution and global warming. While both types of liberals will be strong on
ending the police state and ensuring due process, the biggest differences arise in
economic matters. Classic liberals favor low or no tariffs, reduced regulatory
burdens, even taxation with a low tax burden, and thus reduced government
expenditures and small government overall. Modern liberals favor a highly
progressive tax system, high taxes to break up large aggregations of wealth at the
upper strata, many regulations on businesses, high minimum wage laws, and barriers
to free international trade. Modern liberalism is not completely collectivist; nor is it
completely individualistic. It has elements of both doctrines. The same is true of
conservatism. Neither view provides a coherent approach to politics, built up from
first principles. Whereas conservatism and liberalism are both outgrowths of classical
liberal thought, they differ in what they accept and reject of their intellectual roots
(Goodman). Conservatism tends to accept the classical liberal commitment to
economic liberty but rejects many of its applications to the noneconomic realm.
Liberalism accepts the classical liberal commitment to civil liberties but largely
rejects the idea of economic

Counter terrorism legislation appears not to be reflective of the objectives of the

The argument proposed is for the protection of human rights universally, therefor not
excluding terror suspects. The aim is to establish whether the current methods
operating are protective of terror suspects human rights, and if not, what changes can

of terror suspects.
The right to liberty and privacy is compromised through existing counter terrorism
measures and appropriate steps have not been taken to protect them. Protection of
rights is provided disproportionately amongst terror suspects at the discretion of the
The Greenhouse Effect On Earth
The greenhouse effect is a natural process that works to maintain the warmth
radiating onto the Earth s surface. It was first discovered by Joseph Fourier in
1842, and was later expanded on by John Tyndall in 1858 and Svante Arrhenius in
1896 (Princeton.edu, 2014). When the sun s energy reaches our atmosphere,
greenhouse gasses absorb some of it and some is reflected back into space.
Greenhouse gasses include nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, water vapour, ozone and
some artificial chemical such as chlorofluorocarbons (Climatechange.gov.au, 2014).
The energy that is absorbed by the greenhouse gasses is re radiated across the Earth,
warming the lower levels of the atmosphere and its surface (Bom.gov.au, 2014). The
greenhouse effect maintains... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This excess gas can remain in the atmosphere for around 90 years, which can
contribute to the long term warming of the Earth (Australian Conservation
Foundation, 2014). The global average air temperature has increased, since 1880, by
0.85 degrees Celsius. The warmer climate means that many of the Earth s polar ice
caps are slowly melting. Sea ice normally reflects the heat, whereas water absorbs
it. Because there is slowly becoming less and less sea ice, more heat is being
absorbed, and this increase in heat in turn melts sea ice, which is then causing sea
levels to rise (Australian Conservation Foundation, 2014). Thermal expansion
water expanding due to heat is also causing sea levels to rise. Sea levels have risen
0.19m since 2000, and are projected to rise another 1m before 2100. On top of this,
due to a time lag sea levels will continue to rise even after the excess greenhouse
gasses have been exterminated (Climatechange.gov.au, 2014).
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most important and biologically diverse
ecosystems in the world (Reef Relief, 2014). It is intricately laced with the
mangrove and seagrass ecosystems. The Great Barrier reef is home and feeding

crustaceans, molluscs, fish, turtles, sharks, dolphins and many more (Reef Relief,
2014). Coral reefs take up only 2% of the
Andrew Carnegie s Impact On The Industrial Revolution
In the movie, The Richest Man in the World, Andrew Carnegie played a major role in
influencing the Industrial Revolution, which changed the economy of the US and the
world forever. This era brought upon significant changes through economic
developments that would not only change the ways of the economy but also the
social aspect of society, especially within the cities where this growth was located.
The shift from hand made to machine made products increased productivity and
decreased costs. Through the innovations of the new forms of energy, such as iron,
and then steel, establishments of factories began, competition between businessmen
arose, and innovations of transportation in the city through railroads and bridges
developed. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also made production easier, faster, and cheaper since workers made an abundant of
products within a short amount of time. Mass production in factories was possible
because of the invention of machineries, leading to products being made without
costing businesses as much money compared to if the products were hand made.
Because products were made in factories, this also caused retail prices of the
products to decrease while there was always accessibility for the supplies. The
establishment of large corporations replaced small businesses, which was good news
for the wealthy but bad news for individuals who owned their own small stores.
On the other hand, because of the establishment of factories by businessmen, the
workers lives became hard as they faced unfair working conditions in dirty and
small working places. They worked long hours with no break. The machines used in
factories were also very dangerous and led to workers enduring injuries. Unskilled
labor did not even require training. During the Industrial Revolution, child labor
became common since it was cheaper to have children working. Instead of earning
an education, children started working as early as 8 years old. Also, factories
produced pollution within the cities because of all the coal that was being used for
power, leading smoke to contaminate the air. People became sick and even

Property accountability issues are significant obstacles to accurate financial

federal agencies and departments do not receive the information they need to make

project initiated by the previous administration is ill planned and undermines the
interests of residents of Oakdale. This is evident from the feasibility report of

takes place in the City of Oakdale, yet the quality of services provided to the

Wedding Ceremony Is Important Day Of A Person s Life
Life is filled with many important moments. Whether it is personal
accomplishments, spiritual occurrences, coming of age or overall life changing
events, there is only a hand full of days considered to be the most important day of a
person s life. One of those existences is the wedding day. No matter what country,
race, cultureor religion, it cannot be denied that a weddingceremony is important.
While there may be hundreds of different traditions and rituals that take place during
a wedding ceremony, the general consensus is a wedding is something special. For
most it is more than just a contract. It is not only a celebration of a bride and groom,
but also the unity of family and bringing people together. Weddings are special in that,

Vincent DePaul has s significance to the family there was a determinism attached to
the decision of holding the ceremony in this particular place. As Tanner states in
The Notion of Culture, because culture is constitutive of humanity and cultures are

decisively shapes the character of its members (p. 28). Oftentimes the ideology of
culture is associated with society as a whole, and how different races, ethnicities
and regions come together to develop such social groups, but family is just as much
of a culture as well. Families play a major role in the influence, shaping and
definition of an individual s characteristics, perceptions and values. Laura s parent s

The idea of meaning is correlated with this particular church is a culture Laura s

their values molded Laura and consequently she subconsciously internalized the

The Workout That Helps High School Basketball Players
The workout that has been provided is an essential workout that applies to high
school basketball players getting in shape for their upcoming season. Conditioning
is needed for basketball players to be able to withstand their abilities over the course
of a game and allow the athletes to make good decisions when tired. For these
reasons, the last activity of making the athletes perform in regular basketballactivities
after their workout will stress the athletes to make good decisions even when they are
exhausted, simulating how it will be in a late game situation during the season.
This workout, as all workouts do, will apply to the many principles of fitness
training. It applies to the principle of overload which is the principle of gaining
more improvements by increasing the workload placed on the body. This is easily
applied by the workout being flexible enough that when it becomes too easy for the
athlete, they have the ability to increase or lengthen the repetitions of each exercise.
The principle of overload also goes hand in hand with the principle of progression,
allowing the conditioning athletes to push themselves a little bit harder if they feel
they are up for the challenge. The principle of diminishing returns is something the
conditioning athlete wants to reach which is where the athlete s body gets to the
point that it becomes less and less affected by the workout. It is so important that the
athlete gets to this point because they know that their body has
My Personal Values
Throughout our lifetime, us as people decide to admire different objects, ideas, and
people due to what pleases their thoughts and actions. The infinite examples of
things we could ve valued could ve been toys, friends, book, etc.. But then we began
to mature and begin to come out of our little shells to discover new products, views
of the world, and new ways to advance in our technology and therefore influencing
what we valuetoday. And as I matured in my lifetime, I established a novel value to
my parents the greatest.
My parents are currently the greatest influence on both me and my life. They ve
taught me manner, how to read, write, how to count, etc.. My parents are
outstanding, both have jobs, and have gone college. Not only that, but I express a
lot of love and respect toward them for influencing my good behaviors and actions in
my lifetime. However my parents are both divorced, but that makes me want to value
both of them more than ever. But that doesn t stop me from valuing them. In fact, I
have to value both of them even more. For one, my mother is an Assistant Principal at
Perez Elementary while my father is a sheriff for Webb county. I really have to
show respect for my mother because she is very stressed out from work and me
being in band, but the strictness she shows teaches me how to be a firm person about
life and how to be humble. Although my mom may be strict and stressed, my dad is a
lot more lenient, motivational, and not as stressed out. My
Perception of the African American Males
Perception of the African American males
African Americans males are considered dangerous based on a false identity,
misconceptions, and misinformation that are available in the media; this includes
but is not limited to rap music, news, and TV shows. This misconception can be
traced as far back as slavery. The perception of blacks males as being dangerous
began when the slave came to America on 1619. Due to the situation of being
treated as property, to be freely bought and sold, and that the owner was free to split
up a couple or family at any time simply by selling some of his/her slaves. African
slaves started to behave in a hostile manner. Because of their behavior the Caucasians
immediately started to classify the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A common stereotype about African Americanmen is that they are engage in drug
abuse a disproportionate way which it s not true because according to statistics from
the US department of Health and Human services that although eight percent of
African American males cocaine, eleven percent of whites have use the same drug.
This is, however, not the impression that we get from watching the evening local
news or even an episode of television program COPS.
Blacks Stereotyped of Being Intellectually Inferior and Criminals.
Another common negative stereotype, establishes the African American male as
intellectually inferior. Studies directed by psychologist Claude Stale, indicate that
African American teenagers are aware that they are stigmatized as being
intellectually inferior and the go to school bearing what psychologist Claude has
called a burden of suspicion Such burden can affect their attitudes and
achievements. These shadows hang over stigmatized people no matter their status
or accomplishments. These stigmas have the potential to roll them of their
individually and debilitate their attempts to break out of the stereotypical roles.
Blacks are the repository for the American fear of crime. Ask anyone, of any race, to

The Development Of The Psyche
As a child, people are in the most delicate phase of life. They are a freshly budded
lily, absorbing all the light, moisture, and nutrients possible in order to bloom into an
adult. These essential fertilizers predominantly come from their parents, who nurture
them into the person they will become. This unit commonly consists of a motherand
father. The mother a symbol of intimacy and maternal comfort, and the father a
symbol of strength and stature. The balance of this yin and yang is extremely
important for the development of the psyche. Having a fatherless childhoodor a
childhood with a degenerate father is common in today s society. The effects of not
having a father figure ripple through childhood and lay roots in the subconscious.
There are two types of a fatherless childhood. Some grow up without a father in their
life entirely, without any knowledge of who he may have been. Others grow up with
a father in their life that does more destructive impact than constructive impact. Some
may say that a destructive parent is still a parent to their child, but arguably a parent
without constructive development to their spawn is not a parent at all. This hollow
in a child s life leaves a space for destructive energy to breed. Many challenges adults
face within themselves reflect back into their childhood. The subconscious is the seed
left over from the lily s bloom, which died along with childhood innocence. The fight
to gain back said innocence is the ultimate struggle.

Jewish And Islamic Scriptures Essay
The Jewish, Christian, and Islamic scriptures all have some similarities and
differences. The meaning of god, following faith accordingly, and gender roles are the
large chunks of the most important information. Defining them independently but
together helps us understand how each one works and why it works the way it does.
Jewish scriptures first point out that contradictory interpretations are very much
allowed. The diversity influences encouragement in different kinds of interpretations.
Christian scriptures however, have two testament texts that focus solely on history
and consistency. For their scriptures, they practice what has already been said, and
written down. There is a similarity we see when in the Islamic scriptures it too states
that the people who follow must soak in the sacred texts. The main differences here
are the flexibility, the types of sacred texts, and where they originate. The idea of god

So, they all three are connected but are at different levels. In a very important side
note, the Jewish cared about defining gender from the beginning. They focus not
on the two creation stories like that of their fellow Christians. Rather, they focus
on the story of Lilith. However, from previous modules and readings I have
learned that their view on Lilith in Medieval times set up a bad standard for
misogynistic expectations to come. Christians set up a bad beginning with gender
roles in the form of focusing so heavily of the two creations stories. They finally
admitted that Eve was not the first, but still stuck to the believe that she was the
first to sin and basically damned us all. The expectations to repair those sins are
above average and seem quite strenuous. The focus of the Islamic roles is not based
from a creation story, although they do talk about Adam and Eve. Through Prophets
and their stories, the gender roles begin to

Introduction
The willingness of consumers to purchase a product or service is the fundamental
source of profit for any business. Understanding consumer behavior is the first step in
making profitable pricing, advertising, product design and production decisions. In
order to make marketing decisions, managers need to know how consumers choose
the bundle of goods and services they actually purchase from all possible bundles that
they could purchase. Managers should be aware of the consumer choice process
when estimating the demand for the firms products, forecasting future demand, and
making advertising decisions.
Consumer Preferences
From all the goods or services available to them, buyers choose a combination of

to maintain a constant level of utility.
MRS = О”Y/О”X
Figure 1. A typical indifference curve
The consumer is indifferent between combinations A (4food and 45clothing) and B
(6food and 30 clothing). Thus the rate at which the consumer is willing to substitute is
MRS = О”Y/О”X = 45 30 / 4 6 = 7.5
The MRS is 7.5, meaning that the consumer is willing to give up 7.5 units of
clothing for each unit of food added.
4.Indifference curves are the further from the origin, the greater level of utility
associated with the curve. Combinations of goods on higher indifference curves are
preferred to combinations on lower curves.
5.Indifference curves are everywhere dense. Theoretically, any number of such
indifference curves could be generated by slicing the utility surface at different
altitudes so that the floor of the surface might appear dense with concentric
indifference curves. The collection of representative indifference curves may be
referred to as an indifference curve map.
Budget line
Consumers normally have limited incomes and goods are not free. Their problem is
how to spend the limited income in a way that gives the maximum possible utility. A
budget line is the locus of all combinations or bundles of goods that can be purchased

Earthman rates temperature, heating and air quality as the most individual elements
for student achievement in learning. A class that is well lit, warm when environment

Furthermore if the classroom is up to date and current technology is available, the

Where classes are positioned in a school matters a lot. Class next to staffrooms
where teachers crack jokes can distract the students concentration and learning in
class. Classes should be situated in areas away from paths that distract pupils. An
example is a class next to the main road leading to the main gates will always have
cars; people and this will hinder effective learning because students will always be
staring at anything passing outside instead of listening to the teacher. Police cars that
enter in school will freak out students because they will always be

American woman, Sumita, who is about to embark on a new chapter of her life,

come next in her life. The story begins in the women s lake with Sumita and her

Human Nature In Victor Hugo s Les Miserables
I agree with the statement that in the novel Les Miserables, the author Victor Hugo
is trying to say that human nature is basically good. In the most basic sense, the
definition of good trying to do the right thing, even if there are negative
consequences. It often means having to sacrifice and give up something to do the
right thing. Throughout the book, many characters sacrifice their happiness and
morals in order to do what they believe is the right and fair thing. Even when faced
with serious consequences for being honest, characters more often than not still
choose to do the right thing. Some may argue that Victor Hugo is saying that
human nature is basically evil because some characters commit evil actions.
However, in most cases, characters don t always have evil intentions, their
execution is just poor and makes them seem evil. Everyone thinks of themselves as
a hero, almost everything a character does is because that s what they believe is the
right thing to do. Whether or not it really is could be up for debate but for the most
part, most characters don t have evil intentions and attempt to usually do the right
thing. Victor Hugo is saying that as a whole, human nature is inherently good.
Hugo is saying that human nature is basically good. An example of this being
proved is on page 362, From what motive, indeed, does this convict come and say: I
am a convict? Well yes! the motive is strange. It is from honor. When Marius married

Speech On Whippets
They say dogs are a man s best friend, some agree with this and others not so much.
There are those who are dog lovers and those who are not. I happen to be a dog lover
a huge one, I can t walk out of PetSmart without wanting to adopt a cute little dog

Importance of Accountability in the Army Essay
Accountability is important, because without it, there s no where to place the blame
when mistakes occur. In fact, accountability covers more than just blameworthiness;
responsibility, answerability, and liability also come into question when discussing
the importance of accountability. The very application of the word, describes a
system, in which actions, decisions, and policies are all accounted for (or: kept track
of, recorded, and assessed and evaluated). Accountability can even extend into the
administration of new policies, that are rendered due to obsolete rules and
regulations or just out right compliancy issues; the governance of decisions that

You can t define the importance of accountability, without bringing up the topic of
counting. What do you think accounting is? Calculating those very elements, that you
or someone else counted and then recorded, and interpreting the results from those
variables (the ones you counted in order to assign a numerical value). The process
goes as such: counting the number of elements (or objects, such as people,
equipment, etc.), recording the value of those elements recieved from the count
method, classifying those numbers into their respective variables, operating on those
variables in different ways to simulate different scenarios or events, summarizing the
significance of each calculation, and interpreting the results of these mathematical
processes. Now, if I really want to go in depth with this particular topic, I could
discuss the principles of accountancy. Accountancy is nothing more than the
communication of financial information about a business entity to users such as
shareholders and managers. This very process describes the profession and duties of
an accountant, I would like to discuss a prime example of this later on in my essay.
The principles of accountancy are applied to business entities in three divisions of
practical art, named accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing. According to history,
early accounts served

The Passive and Pitiful Ethan Frome
Ethan Frome is a man torn between what he wants to do, and what he should do. Life
in a rural town can be tough, but when faced with complications, it can be almost
unbearable. When Ethan decides to marry his distant cousin, Zeena, his life turns
down a long and lonesome road. Ethan s lack of assertiveness and decisive action only
worsens his already lonesome and stressful life.
Though too intelligent for rural life, Ethan finds himself stuck in an average man s
shoes. Leaving any opportunity he had to become someone in life, Ethan moves back
to Starkfield to take care of his ailing mother and attend to their farm(Wharton 29).

Mattie Silver s arrival at the Frome household is everything Ethan needs. His lack
of assertiveness has led to his deep hatred of his wife and his life. He soon falls in
love with young Mattie and when Zeena decides it s time for her to go, Ethan
hesitates to stand up for himself and Mattie. When he is forced to take her away, he
tells Mattie about a story similar to theirs(Wharton, 56); he offers the chance for
them to run away together, but Mattie declines. If Ethan had only made the decision
for them, or stood up to Zeena, his life would be much better off.
When Mattie is finally forced to go, Ethan faces the hardest decision he s ever had
to make. Both Mattie and he are in love with each other and neither of the two know
what to do now that they will be separated forever. Ethan decides to take Mattie to
the train station instead of letting Jotham Powell, which turns out to be one of Ethan
s many bad choices. On their way to the train stop, Ethan takes Mattie sledding for

while sledding only reminded them of what they would be missing when Mattie
finally had to leave. Faced with no where else to go, Mattie suggests to Ethan that
they ride the sled straight in to the big elm so that they ll never have to be apart
again(Wharton, 71). Though Mattie was dreadfully serious about the suggestion,
Essay on Compare and Contrast Chinese and Japanese
Mythology
Chinese and Japanese Mythology in Life Classic Chinese and classic Japanese
mythology are quite similar, in fact, they have more commonalities than differences.
As examples, one can compare and contrast the two mythologies in terms of
characters, form and structure, creation myths, and mythology s relevance to life.
Animals and dragons also appear repeatedly in Chinese and Japanese mythology. In
this paper it will be shown that Chinese and Japanese mythologies are more similar
than different. The characters in both Chinese and Japanese myths have similar
personalities and reactions. For example, heroes in both mythologies use tricks,
cunning schemes, and intelligence in general achieve their goals, instead of just force

And although Chinese dragons are powerful fighters, they choose not to fight.
Chinese mythology has several distinctive qualities, one of the most individual is
the fact that Chinese myths are very concise: a single myth might only be one page
long, but tells a story that could take up two or more pages. For example, the
sentence, The Wise Old Man at the River Bend stopped the foolish old man shows an
entire short scene. Japanese myths, on the other hand, are more story like in their
structure, and they are told simply. In fact, the Japanese myths are told so simply and
this author believes that they can be understood by children. Also Japanese myths
have more of a definite beginning, middle, and end.

Summary Of Some Boys By Patty Blount
Personally, I really enjoyed Some Boys by Patty Blount. The reason I really
enjoyed reading this book was because it had a very affective theme and many
points of views were shown in the book, Grace s point of view on how she felt
about being sexually assaulted and Ian s point of view on how he struggled to
figure out whose side he was willing to take, Grace s or Zac s side. This is a very
powerful book that educated me on how disgustingly women are treated and the
labels thrown at them. I would recommend this book to other readers simply

Food Security In Guatemala
Food security is currently one of the most urgent and critical issues in Guatemala,
especially within children and indigenous people living in the rural highlands. Being
one of the most malnourished countries in the world, half of all children under the
age of five in Guatemala are malnourished and rates grow to 67% among indigenous
children. Guatemala faces a myriad of health and nutrition obstacles which Sustain
Our Home is hoping to alleviate.
We represent a non profit organization, Sustain Our Home, that is financially
supported by Starbucks, Whole Foods, and Green Mountain Coffee; these companies
value our same ideals and beliefs to protect and sustain the environment. We are
passionate about finding solutions to end hunger and malnutrition.

flight television. US Airways offers a first class product, and a very extensive route
network including international destinations.
The first successful low cost carrier was Pacific Southwest Airlines in the United
States, which pioneered the concept when their first flight took place on May 6,

profitable every year since 1973. With the advent of aviation deregulation, the model

AirAsia, and Australia s Virgin Blue. The low cost carrier model is applicable

2006, new low cost carriers were announced in Saudi Arabia and Mexico.
Low cost carriers pose a serious threat to traditional full service airlines, since the
high cost structure of full service carriers prevents them from competing

believe this was a form of domestic terrorist. There hasn t been a conclusive motive
why he did what he did. He was wealthy, he liked to gamble and drink. There isn t a
valid excuse for him committing this violent act. Many still wonder and question

Essay On Diwali Festival. 10 Lines Diwali Essay In English For Class 3,4,5

  • 1. Essay On Diwali Festival Writing an essay on the Diwali festival can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, the topic is rich with cultural significance, historical depth, and a myriad of traditions associated with the festival of lights. On the other hand, the challenge lies in presenting a unique perspective that goes beyond the clichГ©s often associated with Diwali. To begin with, delving into the history of Diwali requires thorough research to provide a comprehensive understanding of its origins, religious significance, and the various customs associated with its celebration. Navigating through the diverse cultural practices across different regions and communities adds another layer of complexity to the task. Balancing historical accuracy with engaging storytelling becomes crucial to capture the reader's attention. Furthermore, discussing the spiritual and symbolic aspects of Diwali demands a nuanced approach. Addressing the religious diversity within the celebration, from the Hindu mythology of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya to the Jain and Sikh interpretations, requires a delicate handling of the subject matter. Weaving these intricate threads into a cohesive narrative while maintaining a clear and focused essay structure poses a considerable writing challenge. Another aspect to consider is the exploration of the contemporary celebration of Diwali. Analyzing how traditions have evolved over time and how the festival is observed in the modern context demands a keen awareness of cultural shifts and societal changes. Tackling issues like environmental concerns related to firecrackers or the commercialization of the festival adds depth to the essay but also necessitates a balanced and objective perspective. In the late 1990 s when the documentary was made, the implication was that they do not. However, with the internet s advancements and the accessibility of communication with massive amounts of people, teenagers today can form authentic cultures that are not contaminated by the corporate media. When the documentary was produced, media exposure was limited to private and expensive mediums such as television, movies and radio. The music presented is mostly homogenous and simple to promote familiarity and emotional response. Had these businesses tried to sell celibacy, indifference and pariahs, their profits would have declined. In The Merchants of Cool, Rushkoff goes to a teenage party to survey rising trends and notices a strange phenomenon. The girls dancing in front of his camera seemed to be selling the same exaggerated sex appeal that corporations were selling to the teenagers. He labeled this sensation a sort of giant feedback loop which implied that, since corporations try to mirror teenage behavior and then pervert that into a more explicit version to sell back, which in turn causes teenagers to emulate the corporation s behavior, teenagers are incapable of having a genuine culture to call their own, much like the young

Graham Greene s beliefs come across in his books and lay out his views on society. Greene did not shy away from using tropes in his book, and usually, these literary tropes included the women of his novel. Two of his books A Gun for Sale and Brighton Rockleave Greene s female counterparts feeling unsatisfied with the characterization of the female leads in his stories, for they appear to only influence the novel through acting as a plot device. From the surface, Greene s female characters only fulfill the purpose of the innocent or right half of the relationships, while the men in the novels heavily identify with corruption and evil. Greene utilizes the theme of innocenceversus corruption, to develop the characterization and relationships of the main characters in A Gun for Sale, as well as Brighton Rock, through this lens it is clear to see how Greene relates the corruption of the male characters to Greene s idea of anarchism. Innocence and corruption, two different themes that work exceptionally well together to showcase the difference in characters. An important thing to know is what do these words mean? If innocence means those who are free from guilt or sin through being unacquainted with evil, then none of the characters in Greene s novels would ever be considered innocent because they all at one point or throughout the entire story are acquainted with evil. However,
  • 7. A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control... A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the Comstock Laws. Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a congressman who wanted to put a ban on spreading pornography through the U.S mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon broadened what the Comstock laws covered, to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail that had to do with contraceptives, even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she was arrested many times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally had her biggest victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S v. One Package of Japanese Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock Laws unconstitutional, but it did rule that contraceptives and information regarding them could be shared through the mail, a huge accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles, 2009, pg.8). Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and continues to influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then and now. Birth rates are a huge indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe abortions improved throughout the years. In 1930, the birth rate was 20.7 births to every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg. 101). Birth rates have trended downwards throughout the years and in 2013, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that the current birthrate was down to 12.4 live births to every

The 1.5 million toys recalled by Fisher Price s preschool division included Elmo, Big Bird, and Dora, all made in China. It could be claimed that it is not just an ideology but is the ideology for all mankind, a fundamental truth that is not culturally specific to the West but is of global value. Modern American liberals value institutions that defend against economic inequality. Modern American liberalism is typically associated with the Democratic party, as modern American conservatism is typically associated with the Republican party. Liberals typically accept scientific ideas that some conservatives reject, such as evolution and global warming. While both types of liberals will be strong on ending the police state and ensuring due process, the biggest differences arise in economic matters. Classic liberals favor low or no tariffs, reduced regulatory burdens, even taxation with a low tax burden, and thus reduced government expenditures and small government overall. Modern liberals favor a highly progressive tax system, high taxes to break up large aggregations of wealth at the upper strata, many regulations on businesses, high minimum wage laws, and barriers to free international trade. Modern liberalism is not completely collectivist; nor is it completely individualistic. It has elements of both doctrines. The same is true of conservatism. Neither view provides a coherent approach to politics, built up from first principles. Whereas conservatism and liberalism are both outgrowths of classical liberal thought, they differ in what they accept and reject of their intellectual roots (Goodman). Conservatism tends to accept the classical liberal commitment to economic liberty but rejects many of its applications to the noneconomic realm. Liberalism accepts the classical liberal commitment to civil liberties but largely rejects the idea of economic

  • 15. The Greenhouse Effect On Earth The greenhouse effect is a natural process that works to maintain the warmth radiating onto the Earth s surface. It was first discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1842, and was later expanded on by John Tyndall in 1858 and Svante Arrhenius in 1896 (Princeton.edu, 2014). When the sun s energy reaches our atmosphere, greenhouse gasses absorb some of it and some is reflected back into space. Greenhouse gasses include nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, water vapour, ozone and some artificial chemical such as chlorofluorocarbons (Climatechange.gov.au, 2014). This excess gas can remain in the atmosphere for around 90 years, which can contribute to the long term warming of the Earth (Australian Conservation Foundation, 2014). The global average air temperature has increased, since 1880, by 0.85 degrees Celsius. The warmer climate means that many of the Earth s polar ice caps are slowly melting. Sea ice normally reflects the heat, whereas water absorbs it. Because there is slowly becoming less and less sea ice, more heat is being absorbed, and this increase in heat in turn melts sea ice, which is then causing sea levels to rise (Australian Conservation Foundation, 2014). Thermal expansion water expanding due to heat is also causing sea levels to rise. Sea levels have risen 0.19m since 2000, and are projected to rise another 1m before 2100. It applies to the principle of overload which is the principle of gaining more improvements by increasing the workload placed on the body. This is easily applied by the workout being flexible enough that when it becomes too easy for the athlete, they have the ability to increase or lengthen the repetitions of each exercise. The principle of overload also goes hand in hand with the principle of progression, allowing the conditioning athletes to push themselves a little bit harder if they feel they are up for the challenge. The principle of diminishing returns is something the conditioning athlete wants to reach which is where the athlete s body gets to the point that it becomes less and less affected by the workout. It is so important that the athlete gets to this point because they know that their body has

However my parents are both divorced, but that makes me want to value both of them more than ever. But that doesn t stop me from valuing them. In fact, I have to value both of them even more. For one, my mother is an Assistant Principal at Perez Elementary while my father is a sheriff for Webb county. I really have to show respect for my mother because she is very stressed out from work and me being in band, but the strictness she shows teaches me how to be a firm person about life and how to be humble. • 24. The Development Of The Psyche As a child, people are in the most delicate phase of life. They are a freshly budded lily, absorbing all the light, moisture, and nutrients possible in order to bloom into an adult. These essential fertilizers predominantly come from their parents, who nurture them into the person they will become. This unit commonly consists of a motherand father. The mother a symbol of intimacy and maternal comfort, and the father a symbol of strength and stature. The balance of this yin and yang is extremely important for the development of the psyche. Having a fatherless childhoodor a childhood with a degenerate father is common in today s society. The effects of not having a father figure ripple through childhood and lay roots in the subconscious. There are two types of a fatherless childhood. Some grow up without a father in their life entirely, without any knowledge of who he may have been. Others grow up with a father in their life that does more destructive impact than constructive impact. Some may say that a destructive parent is still a parent to their child, but arguably a parent without constructive development to their spawn is not a parent at all. This hollow in a child s life leaves a space for destructive energy to breed. Many challenges adults face within themselves reflect back into their childhood. The subconscious is the seed left over from the lily s bloom, which died along with childhood innocence. The fight to gain back said innocence is the ultimate struggle.

The meaning of god, following faith accordingly, and gender roles are the large chunks of the most important information. Defining them independently but together helps us understand how each one works and why it works the way it does. Jewish scriptures first point out that contradictory interpretations are very much allowed. The diversity influences encouragement in different kinds of interpretations. Christian scriptures however, have two testament texts that focus solely on history and consistency. For their scriptures, they practice what has already been said, and written down. There is a similarity we see when in the Islamic scriptures it too states that the people who follow must soak in the sacred texts. The main differences here are the flexibility, the types of sacred texts, and where they originate. The idea of god differs among the three.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They focus not on the two creation stories like that of their fellow Christians. Rather, they focus on the story of Lilith. However, from previous modules and readings I have learned that their view on Lilith in Medieval times set up a bad standard for misogynistic expectations to come. Christians set up a bad beginning with gender roles in the form of focusing so heavily of the two creations stories. They finally admitted that Eve was not the first, but still stuck to the believe that she was the first to sin and basically damned us all. The expectations to repair those sins are above average and seem quite strenuous. The focus of the Islamic roles is not based from a creation story, although they do talk about Adam and Eve. Through Prophets and their stories, the gender roles begin to

In the most basic sense, the definition of good trying to do the right thing, even if there are negative consequences. It often means having to sacrifice and give up something to do the right thing. Throughout the book, many characters sacrifice their happiness and morals in order to do what they believe is the right and fair thing. Even when faced with serious consequences for being honest, characters more often than not still choose to do the right thing. Some may argue that Victor Hugo is saying that human nature is basically evil because some characters commit evil actions. However, in most cases, characters don t always have evil intentions, their execution is just poor and makes them seem evil. Everyone thinks of themselves as a hero, almost everything a character does is because that s what they believe is the right thing to do. Whether or not it really is could be up for debate but for the most part, most characters don t have evil intentions and attempt to usually do the right thing. Victor Hugo is saying that as a whole, human nature is inherently good. Hugo is saying that human nature is basically good.
