The Advancements Of India Over Time
India over time has been one of the most balanced governments in history. There has been very
few big conflicts with other countries and their own government. I am researching the
advancements of the indian world from when it started all the way up into modern day history.
Also, knowing the likeliness that they have changed a lot over multiple centuries I will search for
primary sources that I think will best describe the changes that have taken place over the years.
Towards the start of the 16th Century in the year 1504 Babur captured Kabul to take their first
control of the Mughal Empire(History World). The official launching of the Mughal Empire was
in 1526 nearing the completion of the Battle at Panipat where the Babur once again took down
the Sultan of Delhi to become the first major lead group of the new empire. Throughout time the
Babur kept fighting to maintain control of the Mughal. This plan from the opponents of Babur
did not expect to be knocked out of the running for the empire and all of the fighting led to
advancements of taking over more of what is now modern day India (History World). As time
went on multiple landowners who were also wealthy started building places for them to live in.
Such as palaces, houses, and also multiple pieces of land that they would buy to continue to
upgrade the city or empire to make it even more valuable to live in and would make it more likely
to have more battles for possession of the land. The painting shown below I see

The Abolition Of A Person Through The Court System Essay
As America abolish slavery after the civil war, and thousands of African Americans were free to
live lives without the fear of slavery or undue punishment not all things turned out the way one
could have hoped for. Followed revisions of the 13 15th Amendments to the Constitution,
provided the use of exclusion through the criminalization of a person through the court system.
However such rights as described in the 13th amendment provides a claw allowing for racial
divisions to persist in the country. Such loop holes in the Constitution reduced freedoms by
convictions through the legal system. As described in the George Ritzers piece describing
McDonaldization of mass plea bargains contributing to the increase removal of a person s rights
and exclusion from aid otherwise qualify for. Such loss of freedoms through court sanctioned
violations in America caused a national reflection of American policies targeting black and brown
people up to 70% more than whites. Reflecting on the destruction of this clause in the 13th
Amendment we ll evaluate why it was put in and what this loop hole allowed the country to
maintain. Through the work Michelle Alexanders The New Jim Crow in 2010 continue evaluates
the relationship of vilifying or the creation of other ing in order to maintain justification for
targeting black and brown bodies, as Denis Childs describes it as, Natural born Criminals. A level
of state terror described by Childs through the US of mass incarnation in order to

Elizabeth Jordan Character Analysis
Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is and in this book Elizabeth Jordan, the
main character is trying to find her identity with this newfound lifestyle. She is trying to adjust to
letting the Lord into her life and dedicating herself to him because she has never done that before.
She always gets distracted, Elizabeth had entered her closet committed to prayer and exited
committed to tackling her foot odor. That was the danger of spending time with Godmost of the
time you found something else to do (Farby, 117). She was struggling to adjust and found it hard
to say what she wanted to. Luckily she had someone to guide, Miss Clara, had told her many
important things throughout this book one quote that helps support Elizabeth in finding her
identity in this book is, There s no magic in the location in the location you pray. But Scripture
does say to go into your inner room and pray secret, and your heavenly Father who sees what is
done in secret will reward you. Get rid of any distractions, and focus your heart and mind on Him.
Acknowledge that He is God and that you desperately needHim (Farby, 151). Following after Miss
Clara said this Elizabeth surrendered herself to the Lord. She got rid of all distractions to solely
focus on him and let the Lord fix all wrong in her life. She surrendered to him knowing she can t
fix all the wrong by herself. All the wrong being her marriage, relationship with her daughter, and
her relationship towards Tony.

The Trash Sample
Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s
period. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live
in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include,
Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and
paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over
three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often
include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there
are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their
lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church
bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to
church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an
old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw
away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use
because they threw away a check box from Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the
trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests
that someone in the home had a wound that needed to be dressed. One can

The Role Of Aggression In Hitchcock s Vertigo
Recently, an incredible amount of attention has been drawn to female survivors of intimate abuse.
It appears though little attention has been paid to why so many women have been assaulted. With
this in mind, I choose to take a closer look at how gendered violence functions in literature and in
film. Furthermore, I wish to discuss how insecurity instigates aggression from male lead characters
in Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo and Leo Tolstoy s The Kreutzer Sonata as a lens for understanding the
figurative sexual trauma that femalelead characters experience in these works. In an attempt to
better understand the relationship between men s physical pleasure and women s physical pain, I
asked a main research question: How does aggression function... Show more content on

Following Scottie strictly selecting a suit for Judy, he singles out hair styles and makeup for
Judy at a salon. What shade of blonde Judy wants on her hair and what amount of makeup Judy
wants on her face, are ignored possibly not even asked for in this scene. In addition, the salon
operator assures Scottie about his desires being fulfilled by saying, Yes, sir. We know what you
want. (Hitchcock 1:50:00 1:52:33) Scottie s authority is emphasized as greater that that of Judy s
through her agency being unknown throughout this scene. His power is further highlighted when
Judy returns from the salon to her apartment. Though Judy is mostly transformed as Scottie
desires, he is not satisfied. The styling of Judy s hair does not match the styling Scottie wants to
see; so, Scottie abruptly takes Judy s hair into his hands and arranges it as her wants showcasing no
consent or concern for Judy s desires (Hitchcock 1:54:00 1:56:00). Scottie is oblivious to Judy s
frightened and angered response to him arranging her hair. He, instead, is focused on perfecting the
Judy before him to the Judy in his mind ignoring her agency again through patriarchal domination
(Fabe 363). Similar to when in the department store, Scottie is navigating his insecurities while
transforming Judy, as Marilyn Fabe argues in Mourning Vertigo ; but, the policing in these scenes
is intensified through Scottie taking the transformation into his own hands. This investment in Judy
s actions and image continues to increase as Vertigo

Real Estate Data Set
This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real
estate using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for
valuing a real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach
values a real estate property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties
with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear
regression model to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of
numerous independent variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing
is to run all test, and run a subset of the test based on a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of
multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales
compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two
variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand
Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%,
even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent
variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is
not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS
residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the
fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values
of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is
observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of
the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is
satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity of this linear regression model by checking
the accuracy of its prediction. The linear model is estimated by using 100 out of 105

Hotel Rwanda Essay
Hotel Rwanda Muanza Tshitenga
After World War II, it was assumed that the genocide executed by the Nazis would never be
allowed to happen again, that was until the genocide in Rwanda. In the 2004 film, Hotel Rwanda,
directed by Terry George, the malice humankind is able to exhibit is once again portrayed in this
historical drama film. Hotel Rwanda shows this dark period in human history through the eyes of
the hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina. The cruelty, hatred; the triumph and fall of the human spirit,
selfishness, and the hope that can arise from the acts of one ordinary man, was portrayed. In the
film Hotel Rwanda, through the director s use of cinematography, music and sound effects; the
ethical and moral issues of the film are made clear to the audience.
The film is based in Rwanda 1994, at that time Rwanda was composed of two major ethnical
groups: Hutu (making up 85% of the population), and Tutsi (making up 14%). During this time one

The camera seldom left Paul Rusesabagina s situation, the effect this holds on the film is that it
implies that this film is seen through the eyes of Paul. By doing so the director recreates all the
emotions of volatility, suspense and unsureness of what s about to occur. In the scene after Paul
and his family enjoys a comforting night, he awakes the following morning to find a gun aimed
at him. By following Paul s situation, it creates more than just dramatic value. The audience are
entranced into the film, as if they were experience the story firsthand, this creates a very real
experience. Earlier in the film the director decides to include a scene of the Interahamwe militias
parading down a road; in this scene Dube, Paul s co worker, is shown as being afraid of militia
since he is a Tutsi. The director included this scene to portray the constant fear the Tutsi lived with

Qualities of an Effective Teacher
What it means to be an effective teacher
Introduction
An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is
the ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional
objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance,
efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into
consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active
participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class,
socioeconomic conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a
student to perform well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the
video links Pre primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the
techniques and methods associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must
develop over the course of the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying
teacher effectiveness include pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective
teacher employs creativity in the classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher.
Creativity involves qualities like imagination, originality, and self expression. The teacher should
encourage the use of imagination as implied in the video footage. Imagination

Reflection On The Word Reflection
For me the word reflection means taking time to really dig deep into my thoughts, to contemplate
something meaningful and significant, to make a decision that often involves me and my future. It
has a personal and emotional connection. Daudelin (1996) uses the word reflection to encourage
managers to create time to recognise the value of learningfrom past and current work situations (
experience) and to adapt this learning to new situations. I would prefer to choose the words thought
or consideration when applying the idea of reflectionto my own work environment. To fix my
thoughts on what I have learned or to carefully consider how to approach a problem would, for
me, be a better fit. I might, however, choose to reflect on how the past year has been or to reflect
on the direction the organisation is taking, but not, as Daudelin suggests, bring the word into every
day use.
Boud et al. (1985) suggest that we can t learn from experience alone and ask the questions: What
transforms experience into learning? What enables learners to profit from the situations they find
themselves in? How does experience relate to new situations?
Daudelin (1996, 39) offers a definition of reflection that catches its relation to learning:
Reflection is the process of stepping back from an experience to ponder, carefully and persistently,
its meaning to the self through the development of inferences; learning is the creation of meaning
from past or current events that serves as a

Enterprise Systems Architecture Of An Organization
Enterprise Systems Architecture
Kerven Nelson
Nova Southeastern University
Enterprise system Architecture (ESA) is the overall IT system architecture of an organization. This
architecture is the key part of managing and evolving IT systems, and therefore the business
operations, of an organization. It consists of the architectures of individual systems and their
relationships in the perspective of an organization. The Air Force has a limited idea of what
enterprise architecture is, how it works, and most importantly, why it is needed.
The point of this paper is to discuss these key questions, to present some guidelines for
implementation of enterprise architecture, and make people aware of some of the possible
consequence of enterprise architecture development. Architecture is known to be necessary when
considering the design of a new building. However, architecture is equally as important when
considering the design and creation of a composite system within a business. Whether a business is
expanding or new area is being planned, the same issues must be considered (e.g. integrated
services, interoperable systems, and efficient operations). The end result of architecture is the
arrangement of mechanisms under familiar principles that ease change management and ensure
integrated and successful operation. The Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) council considers
an enterprise as an organization supporting a defined business scope and task and contains

Re Manisty Essay Question
Essay Question As stated by Lord Evershed in Re Endacott, no principle perhaps has greater
sanction or authority behind it than a general proposition that a trust by English law, not being a
charitable trust, in order to be effective must have ascertained or ascertainable beneficiaries .
However, although the certainty of object is an important principle, it appears that the question in
regards to the certainty of objects is one that asks whether there is a limit on the flexibility that
exists in regards to discretionary trusts which applies the class test as opposed to the more
definitive list based test applied to fixed trusts it may therefore be more appropriate to ask, what
degree of uncertainty will be tolerated by the courts?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This decision can be clearly identified within Ansbacher Trustees Ltd, where it was stated that it
would be a highly unsatisfactory situation if such beneficiaries were held not to have standing to
sue the trustees for breach of trust . These powers are of obvious importance to objects, who may
need to draw upon these remedies, in instances where settlements have been created, for example,
to avoid tax, such as what can be seen in the Vandervell case, or in The Exeter Settlement where it
was mentioned the power to add and delete beneficiaries from the class of potential objects of a
discretionary trust originated from the need to obtain maximum flexibility in, for example tax
planning strategies . These types of trusts are thus set up to provide more secrecy for the settlor;

Persuasive Essay On Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson known as the man who broke the color barrier, was both a hero of baseball, and
a hero for the fight against racism. He took two of the things Americans valued most: freedom
and sports, and brought them to the grand stage. When we take what Robinson did and put it in
perspective of when and where it occurred we see the true struggle, and see just how despicable
and bitter this time was. It really highlights how the search for freedom and equality coincided
with the country s fight to hold on to segregation and racism. The retelling of Robinson s story
has been retold many times from the perspective of baseball. Jack Roosevelt Johnson was born
on January 31, 1919 in Cairo Georgia, the youngest of five children during a Spanish flu and
smallpox epidemic. When Jackie was very young his father abandoned the family. Now Jackie s
mother Mollie Robinson, had to find a better life for her family. Due to Jim Crow laws Mollie
could not buy a house for her family, because they were barred from certain neighborhoods for
whites only. Despite this fact Mollie didn t care she persuaded a light skinned black man to act is
if he was buying a house in Pasadena, California. (MSR News) Then the Robinson s moved in,
whites were furious and threatened to burn them out of the house. Mollie ignored the threats and

Reel Injun Stereotypes
Reel Injun and Misrepresentation and Native Stereotyping on Screen
Misrepresentation of Natives on screen throughout the 20th century has had an adverse effect on
them. Whether it was positive or negative stereotypes, Natives felt the effect of Hollywood and
began to lose their self identity, their honour, and their pride. Reel Injun takes a look at how
movies have defined an entire race and also documents the rebirth of the Native identity after
decades of destructive Hollywood movies by interviewing notable Native actors, actresses, and
activists. By doing so, director Neil Diamond hopes to silence Hollywood stereotypes and get
Hollywood to properly represent the Native people.
Hollywood s early depictions of Natives consisted of tribesmen and noble savages who are in tune
with Nature. Films such as The Silent Enemy portray these stereotypes on screen with actors like
Chief Buffalo Child Long Lance being shown as tribesmen who are very noble Natives. Although
these stereotypes are positive, they are still stereotypes nonetheless. These stereotypes have caused

Yeast Alive Lab Report
Purpose: The purpose of this science project is to determine if the yeast is alive. We know that
many bacteria are alive, and we know the signs of life. These include breathing, moving,
eliminating the body, and eating. If yeast displays these requirements, we can conclude that yeast is
alive.
Hypothesis: If yeast is combined with sugar, it will produce signs of gas, leading to the chemical
reaction between sugar, water, and the shaking movement that is used to produce heat and
movement, allowing the production of gases out and into the balloon.
Materials: 4 test tubes, 4 balloons, a cup of water, a cup of yeast, a cup of sugar

4. Pour the yeast solution so that there is an equal amount in each of the four test tubes. 5. Add
1вЃ„2 packet of sugar to test tube 1 and the other half to test tube 2. These tubes will be your
experimental group. Do not add sugar to tubes 3 and 4.
6. Add warm tap water to each test tube, filling each test tube 4/5 of the way to the top. 7. Cover
the opening of each test tube with a balloon to catch any gas that is formed. Using the balloon to
seal the end of the tests tube, hold a finger over the end of each test tube and shake it vigorously to
thoroughly mix the contents.
8. Observe the test tubes and record your observations carefully in the table on the next page. Then,
every 5 minutes for 25 minutes, observe what occurs in the test tubes and any changes in the
balloons which cover each test tube, and record your observations.
If the yeast grains are capable of metabolism, it will take some time to produce enough carbon
dioxide to see the change in the balloons.

are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube

who has access to technology, a computer, smart phone etc. and access to the internet is at stake in
this new aged addiction, regardless of age, race or gender. Social Media Addiction is now being
recognized as a psychological disorder all over the world, not just here in the U.S. In the 90 s
studies were focused on Internet Addiction (IA), but the new decade with its advances in social
media sites have now added yet another addiction to study.
Facebook seems to be the number one social web site that has the highest addiction count.
Facebook has 800 million active users, two billion posts are liked and commented on per day
and approximately 10 billion minutes (all together) are logged on the site each day. It is so
addictive for so many that is has been said to be as addictive as smoking. Studies have revealed
that people feel upset, fidgety and agitated if they are denied access to the internet and their social
media sites. Some even stating that they feel lonely, depressed and anxious if they are unable to

Moral Evil vs. Natural Evil Essay
Evil can be categorized into two forms, moral evil and natural evil. Moral evil is brought about by
bad choices that stem from our free will. Natural evil is bad things that happen to people, whether
they deserve them or not. The problem with evil is,
Either we must say that God is not wholly good, and that he permits or is even the author of evil. Or
we must say that God is not omnipotent, and although he is wholly good and would prevent evil if
he could, he is powerless to stop it. (Fitzgerald 340).
This is a significant problem to the revealed religions because they believe in a wholly good and
omnipotent God. Why then, would this God allow evil? In this paper, I will provide, explain, and

This would be similar to taking pieces out of a wooden wheel. The more slices that are removed,
the worse the wheel becomes, but it is still a wheel. Likewise a good person can become less good
by being corrupted, but he still exists as a person as long as there is some form of good left. This
small incorruptible good inside of us is like a piece of God in every living thing. Man can be
corrupted like this because we can make morally wrong choices that deprive us of good. This is
due to our free will. God created mankind with the ability to make choices based on our own
wants; this is known as free will. If free will did not exist, the world would be a very boring
place. Imagine never being able to make your own decisions. God did not want this so he gave
us the power to think on our own. We are rational beings and mostly make good decisions, but
the bad decisions are what lead to evil. Consciences act like a moral compass in our heads, trying
to steer us away from the evil choices and towards the good. Our consciences could be part of that
small incorruptible good that is inside of us. Sometimes a conscience is not enough to guide us,
though, and evil choices stem from our free will. Free

INTRODUCTION
Many researches stated that learning a language is better started from early age because in this
stage the children will be easier to acquire the language, sooner they start learning, more proficient
they will be in using the language. Therefore, presently, English is introduced starting from
kindergarten and becomes one lesson subject that must be taken in elementary school based on
government s rule in Indonesia. In this level, the children are usually called by young learners.
Young learners are those who just start the formal school until they are in eleven or twelve years old.

Symbolism In If This Is A Man By Primo Levi
Imagine getting captured, being taken away from everything, and not being able to do anything
about it. Imagine being forced into hard, pain intencing labour with the thought being planted in
the back of your mind, that as the days approach, so does death. In Primo Levi s novel Survival
in Auschwitz (formally titled; If This Is A Man) ,the author argues that although the prisoners in
the concentration camps suffer, it all ended up to the prisoners becoming free from the camps.
The author uses imagery in the form of the other prisoners and personal experiences to give help
the reader visualize what is happening in the novel. Symbolism in the form of his hometown
and how it goes from being an awful place to looking like heaven, the author also uses symbolism
in the form dawn. Repetition is also used in the form of the awful and uncomfortable wooden
shoes the prisoners had to wear. Levi utilizes symbolism quite effectively in to prove that
suffering leads to freedom. A quote used Dawn came on us like a betrayer, it seemed as though
the new [sun] rose as an ally of our enemies to assist in our... destruction (13) is the first hint of the
author starting to suffer. Normally, dawn is a happy, carefree event, that brings a new day and all
the problems from yesterday are not an issue anymore. However, in this case, dawn is guaranteeing
death and suffering to the prisoners. The author also uses his hometown to show the reader the
transition from suffering to freedom. In the

Essay about Compulsory Voting

Britain is a great example of this. The country has witness turnout in elections falling slowly as
time pass. However, the election of 2001 dropped the country from their average of 76% voter
turnout to just a 59.4% turnout. Comparatively, Australia, a former colony of Britain, has enjoyed
high and steady voter participation since 1924 because of the implementation of compulsory

However, it is not constitutionally recognized as a legal entity, therefore, giving its decisions no

the Australian Democrats; these parties are voted in through a preferential system of voting (
Australia s Political Structure, 2011). All citizens over the age of 18 are required to vote for these
parties because of compulsory voting (adopted in 1924). Australia followed many other
democracies on there decision to implement compulsory voting during the 1920s. However, the
country unusually added mandatory voting without other previsions (Birch, 2009). Australia was
able to do so because of several strong factors supporting the measure. The left (the Labour Party)
had already used a form of social compulsion through trade unions getting their supporters to the
polls. Bring in compulsory voting would rectify this imbalance between the left and the right votes
(Birch, 2009). Furthermore, voters would no longer be in a position to demand transportation to the
polls producing lower party cost. Several other factors include: raising turnout, greatening the
legitimacy of government, enhancing the public education on politics, and the fact that voting is
considered a duty not only a right (Birch, 2009). Since the adoption the system has widely been
supported. At the highest point of support peaked at 73% in favor of compulsory voting

Sorrowful Woman vs. Story of an Hour
Effect of Irony In Story of an Hour A Sorrowful Woman
A life as a wife and/or a mother, is usually appreciated and is a happy life as well. A relationship
between two people should consist of joy, commitment, responsibility, and most importantly love.
For the two main characters in both stories ( The Story of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman )
this was not the case. The stories go against societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, the main character (Mrs.Mallard) is a married woman.
Mrs.Mallard was afflicted with a heart problem . The author was not very specific about her
troubled heart, which seemed to be a symbol of not just physical, but emotional distress as well. ...

This explains her sanity was gone and she was unhappy with herself. Eventually the character
isolates herself in a room, away from her family as she examined the outside world through her
window. The irony in that scene is that she was trapped behind the outside world, just as she was
trapped within herself. As she spent her days in the white room, she began to develop different
routines but none of them satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to
transform herself once again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife she
took the time to knit two sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were both dull and gray
as in lifeless, which is ironic towards the way the character perceived herself or surroundings. In
both stories, each woman was put into a stereotypical role of being housewives. This was popular
in history because women did not have much choice or option rather then stay home and cook,
clean, take care of their children, etc. Both women were married but instead of appreciating their
lives in a joyful perspective, they were oppressed by their living conditions. In both stories, there is
a window scene mentioned. The window seems to have symbolism of freedom which is ironic,
because in reality they were both trapped in unhappiness. Each time the characters looked through
their windows, the outside view is described through the characters perspective in a optimistic and
desirable tune, while staying

The Key Variables Of The Study Of Student Competency...
Procedure The key variables of the study, student competency proficiency, were based on ten core
competencies of EPAS (CSWE, 2012). Total 19 competencies were included in the survey, using a
six point Likert scale. Students were required to rate their competency proficiency on the scale from
1 (very little know) to 6 (substantial amount know) on Survey Monkey. Three assessments used a
uniform survey for three different times. Prior to the course, each student was required to complete
the first assessment. At the end of the course, students were invited to complete two assessments,
the post test and the retrospect test, which asked students to look back to the beginning of the
course. Students were explained that their participation in the assessments were voluntary, which
focuses on helping them assess their competencies from different time perspectives, as well as
helping instructors improve the course. The leading instructor and the teaching assistant, who
conducted the study, complied the rules of human subject protection approved by the University

Who Do Not Study The Past, The Great American Philosopher...
Title
Melissa Lichota
Those who do not study the past, the great American philosopher and historian George Santayana
once observed, are condemned to repeat it. (Schmidt, 1) This is not only true for the present we
live in today, but is held true for the future tomorrow. In 2010 Haitiwas hit with traumatic
earthquake that has still left 150,000 people not re housed and live in tents. It was devastating
because a history of adverse social conditions and extreme ecological fragility primed Port au
Prince for massive loss of life and destruction when the ground began shaking on January 12th.
(Farmer, 3) The history of Haiti has caused the country a great struggle to rebuild after the
earthquake and the 1825 settlement between Haiti and France, the occupation of Haiti from 1915 to
1934, and the Duvalier dictatorships from 1957 to 1986 events prove that history has a substantial
impact upon the future after a devastating natural disaster.
Haiti s independence created new difficulties and led to a spiral of independent debt. The
prospect of slave rebellion terrified every slave holding elite and now their own restless slaves had
a bloody example to emulate. (Phillips, 4) Other colonies relied heavily on slave labor and could
not risk losing property, which resulted in Haiti being quarantined to hide the independence. Slave
plantations in Haiti were French owned, but when the country became independent the French lost
property, or slaves, and forced

Essay on Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
The Battle of Hastings in 1066 saw Harold the king of England defeated by William, Duke of
Normandy. It was a great victory for William, he became King of England and was called William
the Conqueror. There were many reasons for William s victory such as religious support, a well
prepared army, weather, more effective weapons and most importantly superior tactics. Another
important factor, which occurs in most battles in history, is that of luck. Throughout the battle it
seemed that William was more fortunate than Harold. As much as William earned victory, Harold
made some bad judgments and serious tactical mistakes.

This meant they were organized and knew what to do when the time came to set sail for
England. Everything was perfect for William except for the strong winds from the north meant
it was not possible for his fleet to cross the Channel. He and his men were so desperate that they
even prayed for a south wind. God or luck was on their side as after a thunderstorm the winds
changed to a more favourable southerly direction and they seized the opportunity and set sail.
Whilst sailing to England William s fleet got caught in a storm and they had to stop at the
Somme estuary. This should have a disaster for William but luck was on his side, as this way the
crossing to England was shorter and when he was finally able to cross, Harold was in the north of
England.
William s landing was well planned and helped by intelligence gathered in the previous months by
Normans living in England. He had studied Caesar s invasion in 55 BC and was not going to
make the same mistakes that he did. For example Caesar did not take the weather over the Channel
into consideration and beached his boats in the wrong place, getting them damaged. Williams s
decision to land at Pevensey, a lagoon west of Hastings with very few people there, was important.
The lagoon provided shelter from the weather and when the

place on Saturday December 15, 2012 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. The
Heat won the game by a score of 102 to 72. Miami dominated Washington in overall shooting and
defense. This allowed them to pull away from Washington with at 26 to 4 scoring run in the
fourth quarter. ( Saturday December 15, 2012, 2012) Commenting about the strong performance

The advantages resulting from this incorporation are immeasurable. For example, during a major
hurricane the Social Media Analyst can monitor information involving trapped survivors, areas
needing water, damaged traffic lights, and damaged roads. Moreover, in major flooding situations,
the geospatial personnel can provide real time pictures of flood levels throughout the city. Thus, not
only will this incorporation save lives, but it will also reduce the amount of property damage that
otherwise would occur. The disadvantages of this incorporation are that existing personnel may feel
threatened by the change, that others will argue that it is too expensive and not worth the monetary
expenditure, and that some may feel it simply will not work better than the existing procedures.
Another potential drawback is failure to avoid biases and mind traps. One example is the
confirmation bias or primacy effect. This occurs when all evidence is examined in the context of
confirming an existing belief. Unfortunately, this occurred in the Iraq WMD scenario whereby
everyone thought the weapons already existed and ignored intelligence to the contrary. Another bias
is group think. In this situation everyone feels that the majority is right, and no one wants to offer a

La Mission Movie Analysis
Symbolic Representations One of the symbolic representations in La Mission is where it takes
place, in the mission district of San Francisco. It represents the traditional stance of Che the main
character and compares it to the shift to a more hipster neighborhood with new people like Lena
moving in who haven t been in the neighborhood until recently. He also restores old cars into low
riders which is historically Mexican American style of car. The music featured in this movie is a
mix of traditional chorales, native drums and guitars mixed with newer more modern version that
also show the transition that this community and culture are facing coming to terms with change
and homosexualitythat is culturally unacceptable. On the other hand, the movie Walkout shows a
symbolic representation in the movie in the form of the main characters father who has a traditional
blue collar job and represents the barrier that many Chicano s faced at that time. Another is the
school teacher Sal who really has risen above and escaped the life most Chicano s are facing.
This comparison is mirrored in the way some students like Paula are encouraged to attend college
while others are told to go into a low paying trade.
Arguments
From my perspective it s the judgement of homosexuality that is portrayed in the movie. Riddled
throughout the movie is drugs, other deities and violence. Even the main character Che is an

The Logical Problem Of Evil Essay
In this paper I will discuss the logical problem of evil and how it seems to reject the existence of
God as an omni 3 being. I will first layout the logical problem of evil, and then I will explain why
it succeeds in disproving the existence of God. I do this through pointing out the contradictions
between the definition of Godas an omni 3 being and the problem of redeemed and unredeemed
evil. As well as by proving that admittance of evil in any way when in reference to the choices of
God invalidates the omni 3 definition of God. I will address claims from those who believe in God
about justification of evil as well as the concept and depth of human understanding.
The logical problem of evil is almost as old as the concept of an omni 3 being as the one true God.
God in this context being a mix of the Judeo Christian belief that God is the Greatest Conceivable
Being (GCB). Being the GCB implies 3 things: God is all good (Omnibenevolent), all knowing
(Omniscient), and all powerful (Omnipotent), this is commonly referred to as omni 3. This argument
boils down to a simple three part argument structure:
1. If God, as an omni 3 being, exists then evil can not exist at all.
2. Evil clearly exists.
3. As a result, God as omni 3 can not exist.
This is a very simple argument; premise, interference, implied contradiction, and a conclusion. It is
simply through an application of modus ponens that, some believe, we are able to disprove the
existence of God as an Omni 3 being.

Society s Call For Action
Society s Call for Action
Mass media are forms of communication that generate messages for very large, very heterogeneous,
and very anonymous audiences (Thompson et al. 93).
Body image is a complicated aspect of the self concept that concerns an individual s perception and
feelings about their body and physical appearance (Serdar 1).
With the increasing percentage of today s females struggling with personal body image issues, the
media has been criticized for playing a critical role in bringing body discontentment upon the female
population; several theories help explain how this discontentment happens. Media is the primary
public means used around the world to relay ideas, values, norms, attitudes and behaviors (Lopez
Guimera et al.388). Society is bombarded throughout their daily lives with different forms of
media relaying a wide variety of messages. The thin ideal set by the mass media has become the
standard for female beauty and has played a major role in how women perceive themselves.
From waking up to the radio advertizing the newest diet supplement offering a free sample for a

of question. Being a slightly sensitive subject which some people may not know a lot on, I
would of struggled going out to the public and speaking about such topic, as some may not of
understood the matter and as said before some may find it a sensitive subject to go into detail
about. Also I would have not been able to gain access to speaking to some serial killers, as most
to whom I am going to study are still alive but it would be mere impossible to speak to them, as
they are either in hospital suffering or in prison serving life sentences. Some e resources I have
found which are available to use are; the key word being mental health ... Show more content on

This could be useful as I can get the information easily and quick as it has a clear layout and the
information I may need when profiling different serial killers. Another website I could use is

the biographies of the serial killers, giving information on the people who they killed, and how
they killed them and also some basic background on

Supreme Court Justice And Impeachment Analysis
After the death of the Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, the appointment
of a Supreme Court justice to replace him has stirred up controversy among the lay public. The
Supreme Court of the United State is normally formed by the Chief Justice and eight associate
justices. They are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. After the appointment,
the justices will have life tenure until they resign, retire, take senior status, or are removed after
impeachment. Since they are nominated by the President, they may share the same ideological
view with the President. The political view of the justices may have some influence on their
judgement. In his three decades service, the seventy nine years old justice

Eating Disorders Are Affecting Adolescents With Increasing...
Eating disorders are complex illnesses that are affecting adolescents with increasing frequency [1].
They rank as the third most common chronic illness in adolescent females, with an incidence of
up to 5% 1, 2 and 3. Three major subgroups are recognized: a restrictive form in which food intake
is severely limited (anorexia nervosa); a bulimic form in which binge eating episodes are followed
by attempts to minimize the effects of overeating via vomiting, catharsis, exercise, or fasting
(bulimia nervosa); and a third group in which all the criteria for anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa
are not met. The latter group, often called eating disorder not otherwise specified or EDNOS,
constitutes the majority of patients seen in referral centers treating adolescents [4]. Eating disorders
are associated with serious biological, psychological, and sociological morbidity and significant
mortality. Unique features of adolescents and the developmental process of adolescence are critical
considerations in determining the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of eating disorders in this age
group. This position statement represents a consensus from Adolescent Medicine specialists from
the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia regarding the diagnosis and
management of eating disorders in adolescents. In keeping with the practice guidelines of the
American Psychiatric Association [5] and the American Academy of Pediatrics [6], this statement
integrates evidence based medicine,

I Stand Here Ironing By Tillie Olsen Essay
A Mother s Struggle
Family plays an enormous part in our everyday lives. Each family has their own hopes dreams,
and desires for each individual. Every family member, adults and children, should be given the
best chance to reach their fullest potential in life. Every family is different and for some families
in order for the individual to succeed that means that they must send their children to live with
people who can better care for them and provide them with things that they as parents are not able
to. In Tillie Olsen s short story, I Stand Here Ironing , she writes about the distressed feelings of a
woman, a mother, as she looks back on her daughter s life. This reflection provoked someone else
s distress for her daughter, although we never find out exactly who is worried about the well
being of the daughter, the mother examines the reasons for her 19 year old daughter s existing
issues and defends her daughter and the things she did to make sure she had a good life. Olsen s
use of narrative methods and outstanding choice of facts and language let the reader see the mother
s character and her caring, loving feelings concerning her children.
I Stand Here Ironing which spans over nearly twenty years is told in first person narration by a
woman who now has three children, two girls and a boy, and been married twice, during the 1930s
in the United States in the middle of the great depression providing the readers with a first hand
account of the mother s struggles with

Class and Race in Faulkner s The Mansion Essay
Class and Race in Faulkner s The Mansion
In The Mansion, the last of William Faulker s Snopes Trilogy, Flem Snopes is killed by his
daughter Linda and his cousin Mink because he betrayed family and clan ties. Flem used his
wife Eula for his success and finally drove her to suicide. He also took advantage of his daughter s
love for him and tried to deprive her of her property. When Mink, detained on a charge of killing
Jack Houston, desperately needed Flem s help, the cousin didn t even appear. They took revenge
on him for his betrayal. The story, though, as Cleanth Brooks pointed out (Brooks 227 28), can also
be read as of a class struggle: a capitalist Flem is killed by a communist Linda and a poor white, a

Hit s all right he thought Hit ll go this time.... (702 3)
What was the motive, then, of the Houston killing, which we seem to be strongly asked to refer
to when we examine the Flem case? The direct cause was trouble over Mink s cow, but behind it
there was a wide gulf between the rich and the poor, a class difference between the landed class
and poor whites, which may have made Mink angry enough to kill Houston. He saw Houston as
a durn surly sullen son of a bitch that didn t even know he was lucky: rich, not only rich enough
to afford a wife to whine and nag and steal his pockets ragged of every dollar he made, but rich
enough to do without a wife if he wanted: rich enough to be able to hire a woman to cook his
victuals instead of having to marry her. Rich enough to hire another nigger to get up in his stead
on the cold mornings and go out in the wet and damp to feed not only the beef cattle which he sold
at the top fat prices because he could afford to hold them till then, but that blooded stallion too...
(340).
Each afternoon ... he would walk up the muddy road ... to watch Houston s pedigreed beef herd,
his own sorry animal among them, move, not even hurrying, toward and into the barn which was
warmer and tighter against the weather than the cabin he lived in, to be fed by the hired Negro
who wore warmer clothing than any he and his family possessed, cursing into the steamy vapor of
his own breathing,

Analysis Of Zoot Suit By Luis Condez
Analytical Essay: Zoot Suit
The play Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez has symbolic significance for Mexican Americans talking
about riots during World War II. The Sleepy Lagoon murder was one step in the fight for the
rights and respect of Mexican Americans share that they are all equal rather than being looked up
and down from their appearances. This riot involved young servicemen and civilians but also
thousands of men and women who clashed in the streets of the city with young Mexican Americans
who wore the style of Zoot Suit to represent their cultural ethics. Luis Valdez owes it to himself,
family, and friends, and also his community to be the best version of strength and positivity, no

On the day of the Sleepy Lagoon trial, a bailiff purposely pronounces the name by reading the
sheet of paper wrong, The people of the State of California versus Henry Reyna, Ismael Torres,
Thomas Roberts, Jose Castro and eighteen others... pa choo cos (Valdez, 52). The bailiff shows
no respect for the Chicano community. Imagine your name being called wrong, that is a big
embarrassment to the Chicano community. The gang should not face discrimination because of
their names or ethnicity. No one should be treated differently, we should be equal no matter
what race we are. Another evidence Valdez explains is, The zoot haircuts will be retained
throughout the trial for purposes of identification of defendants by witnesses (Valdez, 53).
Valdez shows that getting a haircut will make them different in order to identify the Chicano
community. This evidence shows a lot of racism because of their appearance in their trial. Also,
identity does not matter based on your look. The jury is biased for judging on how the groups
look. The bailiffs should just let them be who they are rather than changing themselves and
becoming different people. We should not be discriminated by the way we look, who we are, and
what color we are. We should all be treated the same regards what color we

No Shave November Tradition
The tradition of No Shave November can be traced to Australia in 2004. A group of 30 men
organized an event and grew moustaches for 30 days to raise awareness for prostate cancer and
depression in men. Before No Shave November was created, it started off as Movember, which
was used as an Australian holiday for men to shave off their mustache. Years later it transitioned
over to North American, mainly the U.S. When Movember transitioned over to America, and
became No Shave November, the trend had begun to grow throughout social media as a trending
event for many people (Johnson, J.).
It wasn t until the fall of 2009 that members of the Chicago land Hill family decided to use it as a
means to raise money for charity because of their father who

The Media Shape And Reinforce Feminism
The Media Shape and Reinforce Feminism
Why cannot female characters be stronger? The role of media is representing the social status that
reflects the actual situation of the female in society s different aspects. However, female characters
do not have enough representation because males take most of the important roles in different
kinds of media. Female characters are always represented as one sided and more reliant on male
characters. Even though there is a trend of misrepresentation of females characters, but there is
more and more shows have a better portrayal of feminism over time. The portrait of females in TV
shows is changing. Because women dreams are no longer just being taken care of the family in the
real lives, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Example, It can show how society treats female at work and their view on a woman s
relationship with men, work, and family. If women continue to be represented as dependent and
fragile, the status of women will remain low for men are considered to be powerful and tough.
Better representation of females on TV brings the hope of feminism development which mean that
the ideology of females also change in a positive way. If we can discover how depictions of female
characters change, we can have a better understanding of how the status of females changes in
society from the past to current day. The progress of feminist representation in the media has a huge
relationship to the feminist movement since the 1960s.
There are three waves of feminism in history. According to Martha Rampton, the author of Four
Wave of Feminism, the feminist movement shows the correct awareness of female right. Females
no longer want to live through their dependence on men. Females are fighting for their freedom,
rights, and dignity. The first wave of feminism occurred in the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries, and focused on gender equality. The second wave of feminism from the 1960s to 1970s
was about sexuality and family and the workplace. After the second wave of feminist movement,
there were some magazines and books that showed the different aspects of women. From the 1990s
to the present day is the third wave of feminism, which focuses on individualism and

Essay on George Washington s Pesidency
George Washington s Presidency
George Washington is regarded as a natural leader and the father of our country. He was the first
president under the Constitution, not the first president of the United States. From the very
beginning, he came into a job full of problems and a mile long to do list. He had to set up the
Judiciary Branch, deal with uprisings and conflicts between the natives and the western settlers,
and try to keep together a nation that was falling apart. He created a group of advisors (the
cabinet) to help him with certain issues. He had a few things on his mind at the time such as: stay
out of a war, build up revenue to pay off Revolutionary War debt, and try to make peace with
England.
Washington was a natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Judiciary Act of 1789 established a six member supreme court. It was comprised of one Chief
Justice and five Associate Justices. It had jurisdiction over all civil actions between states, or
between a state and the United States. Also in the act it created thirteen Judicial Districts. Within
these Judicial Districts were circuit courts and district courts.
After finishing the Judicial Branch, Washington finally got time to create the Executive Branch. The
first offices created were the Secretary of the State, (headed by Thomas Jefferson) the Secretary of
the Treasury, (headed by Alexander Hamilton) the Secretary of War, (headed by Henry Knox) the
Postmaster General, (headed by Samuel Osgood) and the Attorney General (headed by Edmund
Randolph). These offices became the backbone for the Presidential Cabinet. On July 27, 1789,
Washington signed a bill into law reauthorizing an Executive Department of Foreign Affairs headed
by a Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
Washington was the major player to the creation of the United States Government under the
constitution. He did more in his first months in office than any other president so far. He was the
best man for the job and the only man. There is no way that anyone can do as much for the
government as Washington did so. He did a great job of setting up other courts around the

Chinese Religions And The Western World
Until very recently, the Chinese religions have remained fairly unknown to the Western world.
Unlike the religions that have stemmed from the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent, East Asian
philosophies have never had a strong concept of missionary spirit. Therefore, their expanse
remained confined to the East Asian nations of China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and Mongolia.
However, in the last hundred years or so, an increase in political, commercial, and cultural contacts
of the East Asian region with other parts of the world broke this trend. This helped to spread the
philosophies of East Asian sages all around the globe. Scriptures and traditions of Confucianism,
Buddhism, and Taoism spread beyond the East Asian region and reached areas far and beyond, thus
spreading their concept of harmony, and love for the beauty of nature. Today, a considerable
amount of East Asian populations live throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas and
continue to influence the people and culture of these regions (Hopfe, 170.) Therefore, to
acknowledge the impact of the aforementioned East Asian philosophies on American culture, this
essay discusses three significant elements of the American lifestyle healthcare, cuisine, and art.
Traditional Chinese Medicine, based on Chinese traditions of more than 2,000 years, comprises of
various medicinal practices such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, massage (Tui Na), and exercise
(qigong). Unlike other branches of medicine, the ideology

Rice Riot Essay
Rice riots
Rice riots happened in 1918 when Japanese government was involved in the Siberia intervention
and the economy of Japan was in war prosperity that the export and industrial development was
growing rapidly. To maintain the competiveness of the Japanese exports and industrial product, the
government set the purchasing price of the rice merchant from the peasants, which was much
lower than the market rice to lower the industrial production cost from the raw materials. As a
result, the living standard of the general peasants and workers in the city had even worsen under
the prosperity despite the huge growth in industry and economy. In May 1917, the rice market
price starts to rise rapidly by 3 yen per koku and the price reached 50 yen ... Show more content on

The rice riot indicated the social structure at that time that the peasants and low level workers were
highly exploited and could not even benefit from the development of the economy. This riot meant
the strong dissent to the oppression from the government and the industrial Zaibatsu from the
peasants to normal Japanese people. To the government, this riot indicated that this economic
development style could not be sustainable, thus entered a more democratic period 1920s. The riot
had led to three major changes to the society. Firstly, the salary of the citizens and the purchasing
price of the peasants were raised a little while the government tried to lower the market rice by
increasing import from its colony Korea and Taiwan as well as other rice producing countries
(Morgan 2011, 121 122), which slightly improved the living standard of the poor. The more
important impact is in the government that Hara Takashi, who was the first untitled premier. This
indicated the end of the Kazoku control of the government and the raise of the party politics.
Since the cabinet of Hara, the premier and cabinet members could be untitled, which indicated a
great progress to the Japanese democracy development. The rice riot also caused the strong
opposition to the left wing ideology in Japanese government. After the riot, most of the leaders in
the movement were arrested and put to the death sentence. To avoid such a riot happening again,
the government had a stronger opposition to the left wing movement and strikes (Morgan 2011,
125 134). For instance, even in 1925, a more democratic period, to avoid the spread the
communism in Japan and other left wing ideology, the diet had passed Public Security
Preservation Laws to delegalize the left wing parties. The strong attitude against the left wing
ideology were because of the serious rice

The Voting Age Should Be Legal
Twenty one year olds are mature enough to make important decisions such as voting. Most
countries around the world have established a voting age. Voting is a topic of heated debate in the
United States due to difference of opinions between the democrat and republican parties. In the
United States the votingage has been reduced from twenty one years old to eighteen years old.
Even though the voting age was reduced, some people have been lobbying in order to reduce the
voting age to sixteen. Reducing the legal age for voting is a bad idea, because the younger
generation lacks the capability of having an informed decision for voting. Although some people
believed that the legal voting age should be lower than eighteen, on the other hand others believe it
should be returned to twenty one. The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one because
the majority of people over twenty one are more educated about politicsthan an eighteen year old.
People who are over twenty one are not easily influenced by people s opinions and are more
capable of evaluating future outcomes.
The legal voting age should be returned to twenty one, because people over twenty one are more
educated about politics. People under the age of twenty one tend to focus more on social media
and school. However, most people under the age of twenty one do not understand how much
politics and government affects their life. If you go to any college campus and talk with eighteen
year old student, you may find out

  • 2. The Advancements Of India Over Time India over time has been one of the most balanced governments in history. There has been very few big conflicts with other countries and their own government. I am researching the advancements of the indian world from when it started all the way up into modern day history. Also, knowing the likeliness that they have changed a lot over multiple centuries I will search for primary sources that I think will best describe the changes that have taken place over the years. Towards the start of the 16th Century in the year 1504 Babur captured Kabul to take their first control of the Mughal Empire(History World). The official launching of the Mughal Empire was in 1526 nearing the completion of the Battle at Panipat where the Babur once again took down the Sultan of Delhi to become the first major lead group of the new empire. Throughout time the Babur kept fighting to maintain control of the Mughal. This plan from the opponents of Babur did not expect to be knocked out of the running for the empire and all of the fighting led to advancements of taking over more of what is now modern day India (History World). As time went on multiple landowners who were also wealthy started building places for them to live in. Such as palaces, houses, and also multiple pieces of land that they would buy to continue to upgrade the city or empire to make it even more valuable to live in and would make it more likely to have more battles for possession of the land. The painting shown below I see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Abolition Of A Person Through The Court System Essay As America abolish slavery after the civil war, and thousands of African Americans were free to live lives without the fear of slavery or undue punishment not all things turned out the way one could have hoped for. Followed revisions of the 13 15th Amendments to the Constitution, provided the use of exclusion through the criminalization of a person through the court system. However such rights as described in the 13th amendment provides a claw allowing for racial divisions to persist in the country. Such loop holes in the Constitution reduced freedoms by convictions through the legal system. As described in the George Ritzers piece describing McDonaldization of mass plea bargains contributing to the increase removal of a person s rights and exclusion from aid otherwise qualify for. Such loss of freedoms through court sanctioned violations in America caused a national reflection of American policies targeting black and brown people up to 70% more than whites. Reflecting on the destruction of this clause in the 13th Amendment we ll evaluate why it was put in and what this loop hole allowed the country to maintain. Through the work Michelle Alexanders The New Jim Crow in 2010 continue evaluates the relationship of vilifying or the creation of other ing in order to maintain justification for targeting black and brown bodies, as Denis Childs describes it as, Natural born Criminals. • 4. Elizabeth Jordan Character Analysis Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is and in this book Elizabeth Jordan, the main character is trying to find her identity with this newfound lifestyle. She is trying to adjust to letting the Lord into her life and dedicating herself to him because she has never done that before. She always gets distracted, Elizabeth had entered her closet committed to prayer and exited committed to tackling her foot odor. That was the danger of spending time with Godmost of the time you found something else to do (Farby, 117). She was struggling to adjust and found it hard to say what she wanted to. Luckily she had someone to guide, Miss Clara, had told her many important things throughout this book one quote that helps support Elizabeth in finding her identity in this book is, There s no magic in the location in the location you pray. But Scripture does say to go into your inner room and pray secret, and your heavenly Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Get rid of any distractions, and focus your heart and mind on Him. Acknowledge that He is God and that you desperately needHim (Farby, 151). Following after Miss Clara said this Elizabeth surrendered herself to the Lord. She got rid of all distractions to solely focus on him and let the Lord fix all wrong in her life. She surrendered to him knowing she can t fix all the wrong by herself. All the wrong being her marriage, relationship with her daughter, and her relationship towards Tony. ... • 5. The Trash Sample Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s period. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include, Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use because they threw away a check box from Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests that someone in the home had a wound that needed to be dressed. • 6. The Role Of Aggression In Hitchcock s Vertigo Recently, an incredible amount of attention has been drawn to female survivors of intimate abuse. It appears though little attention has been paid to why so many women have been assaulted. With this in mind, I choose to take a closer look at how gendered violence functions in literature and in film. Furthermore, I wish to discuss how insecurity instigates aggression from male lead characters in Alfred Hitchcock s Vertigo and Leo Tolstoy s The Kreutzer Sonata as a lens for understanding the figurative sexual trauma that femalelead characters experience in these works. In an attempt to better understand the relationship between men s physical pleasure and women s physical pain, I asked a main research question: How does aggression function... What shade of blonde Judy wants on her hair and what amount of makeup Judy wants on her face, are ignored possibly not even asked for in this scene. In addition, the salon operator assures Scottie about his desires being fulfilled by saying, Yes, sir. We know what you want. (Hitchcock 1:50:00 1:52:33) Scottie s authority is emphasized as greater that that of Judy s through her agency being unknown throughout this scene. His power is further highlighted when Judy returns from the salon to her apartment. Though Judy is mostly transformed as Scottie desires, he is not satisfied. The styling of Judy s hair does not match the styling Scottie wants to see; so, Scottie abruptly takes Judy s hair into his hands and arranges it as her wants showcasing no consent or concern for Judy s desires (Hitchcock 1:54:00 1:56:00). Scottie is oblivious to Judy s frightened and angered response to him arranging her hair. He, instead, is focused on perfecting the Judy before him to the Judy in his mind ignoring her agency again through patriarchal domination (Fabe 363). Similar to when in the department store, Scottie is navigating his insecurities while transforming Judy, as Marilyn Fabe argues in Mourning Vertigo ; but, the policing in these scenes is intensified through Scottie taking the transformation into his own hands. • 7. Real Estate Data Set This task involves trying to give an educated guess on a linear regression model for pricing real estate using a real facts date set using numbers and facts. Normally two approaches are used for valuing a real estate property: income and sales comparison. The sales assessment approach values a real estate property based on sale prices of similar properties. In this case the properties with familiar individuality are basically on the same price level, it would be typical to use a linear regression model to complete this demonstration. Our team will examine the significance of numerous independent variables to a real estate value. Two important strategies to regression testing is to run all test, and run a subset of the test based on a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The correlation is 41% between Bdrm and Size. We have concluded that there is no problem of multicollinearity in the data. We also found that Price and Size have relatively large scales compared with other variables. So it is natural to consider the logarithmic form of these two variables. We will run a new regression in which the regressor is log (price) and the regressand Size is replaced by its logarithm log (size). The R squared of this new model is around 60%, even a little lower than the original model. The statistical significance of other independent variables keeps almost unaffected. The analysis of coefficients in this model with logarithms is not intuitive. So we still stick to the reduced linear model estimated in (a). We analyzed the OLS residuals to check for possible heteroskedasticity for a cross sectional data set. We computed the fitted values of Price and OLS residuals in our model. Then residuals are sorted by fitted values of Price, and a scatter diagram of residuals is plotted against the fitted values in Figure 2. It is observed that all points are fairly scattered and there is no obvious pattern for the dependence of the residuals on the fitted values. We conclude that a linear model with homoskedastic errors is satisfactory for this data set. We evaluated the validity of this linear regression model by checking the accuracy of its prediction. Hotel Rwanda Essay Hotel Rwanda Muanza Tshitenga After World War II, it was assumed that the genocide executed by the Nazis would never be allowed to happen again, that was until the genocide in Rwanda. In the 2004 film, Hotel Rwanda, directed by Terry George, the malice humankind is able to exhibit is once again portrayed in this historical drama film. Hotel Rwanda shows this dark period in human history through the eyes of the hotel manager Paul Rusesabagina. The cruelty, hatred; the triumph and fall of the human spirit, selfishness, and the hope that can arise from the acts of one ordinary man, was portrayed. In the film Hotel Rwanda, through the director s use of cinematography, music and sound effects; the ethical and moral issues of the film are made clear to the audience. • 9. Qualities of an Effective Teacher What it means to be an effective teacher Introduction An effective teacher is someone who increases the understanding of a pupil. Effective teaching is the ability of providing instructions to students of varying abilities while incorporating instructional objectives and assessing the effective education form of students. In the evaluation of performance, efficiency on the lesson plan and technique of delivery forms form part of the criteria taken into consideration. The teacher s practices that ensure the higher level of assessment and active participation are most successful. This outdo all the factors, such as size of the class, socioeconomic conditions and gender (Sullivan 2001). The most significant aspect that gears a student to perform well is the teachers details of classroom practices as demonstrated in one of the video links Pre primary: Science Mini Beasts . They must have sufficient familiarity with the techniques and methods associated with their career and must certify that the pupil learning must develop over the course of the year (Sullivan 2001). Majorly presumed methods of quantifying teacher effectiveness include pupils work, teacher s assessments, and lesson plans. An effective teacher employs creativity in the classroom. It is both necessary to the student and teacher. Creativity involves qualities like imagination, originality, and self expression. The teacher should encourage the use of imagination as implied in the video footage. Imagination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Reflection On The Word Reflection For me the word reflection means taking time to really dig deep into my thoughts, to contemplate something meaningful and significant, to make a decision that often involves me and my future. It has a personal and emotional connection. Daudelin (1996) uses the word reflection to encourage managers to create time to recognise the value of learningfrom past and current work situations ( experience) and to adapt this learning to new situations. I would prefer to choose the words thought or consideration when applying the idea of reflectionto my own work environment. To fix my thoughts on what I have learned or to carefully consider how to approach a problem would, for me, be a better fit. I might, however, choose to reflect on how the past year has been or to reflect on the direction the organisation is taking, but not, as Daudelin suggests, bring the word into every day use. Boud et al. (1985) suggest that we can t learn from experience alone and ask the questions: What transforms experience into learning? What enables learners to profit from the situations they find themselves in? How does experience relate to new situations? Daudelin (1996, 39) offers a definition of reflection that catches its relation to learning: Reflection is the process of stepping back from an experience to ponder, carefully and persistently, its meaning to the self through the development of inferences; learning is the creation of meaning from past or current events that serves as a ... • 11. Enterprise Systems Architecture Of An Organization Enterprise Systems Architecture Kerven Nelson Nova Southeastern University Enterprise system Architecture (ESA) is the overall IT system architecture of an organization. This architecture is the key part of managing and evolving IT systems, and therefore the business operations, of an organization. It consists of the architectures of individual systems and their relationships in the perspective of an organization. The Air Force has a limited idea of what enterprise architecture is, how it works, and most importantly, why it is needed. The point of this paper is to discuss these key questions, to present some guidelines for implementation of enterprise architecture, and make people aware of some of the possible consequence of enterprise architecture development. Architecture is known to be necessary when considering the design of a new building. However, architecture is equally as important when considering the design and creation of a composite system within a business. Whether a business is expanding or new area is being planned, the same issues must be considered (e.g. integrated services, interoperable systems, and efficient operations). The end result of architecture is the arrangement of mechanisms under familiar principles that ease change management and ensure integrated and successful operation. The Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) council considers an enterprise as an organization supporting a defined business scope and task and contains ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Re Manisty Essay Question Essay Question As stated by Lord Evershed in Re Endacott, no principle perhaps has greater sanction or authority behind it than a general proposition that a trust by English law, not being a charitable trust, in order to be effective must have ascertained or ascertainable beneficiaries . However, although the certainty of object is an important principle, it appears that the question in regards to the certainty of objects is one that asks whether there is a limit on the flexibility that exists in regards to discretionary trusts which applies the class test as opposed to the more definitive list based test applied to fixed trusts it may therefore be more appropriate to ask, what degree of uncertainty will be tolerated by the courts?... • 15. Persuasive Essay On Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson known as the man who broke the color barrier, was both a hero of baseball, and a hero for the fight against racism. He took two of the things Americans valued most: freedom and sports, and brought them to the grand stage. When we take what Robinson did and put it in perspective of when and where it occurred we see the true struggle, and see just how despicable and bitter this time was. It really highlights how the search for freedom and equality coincided with the country s fight to hold on to segregation and racism. The retelling of Robinson s story has been retold many times from the perspective of baseball. Jack Roosevelt Johnson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo Georgia, the youngest of five children during a Spanish flu and smallpox epidemic. When Jackie was very young his father abandoned the family. Now Jackie s mother Mollie Robinson, had to find a better life for her family. Due to Jim Crow laws Mollie could not buy a house for her family, because they were barred from certain neighborhoods for whites only. Despite this fact Mollie didn t care she persuaded a light skinned black man to act is if he was buying a house in Pasadena, California. Whether it was positive or negative stereotypes, Natives felt the effect of Hollywood and began to lose their self identity, their honour, and their pride. Reel Injun takes a look at how movies have defined an entire race and also documents the rebirth of the Native identity after decades of destructive Hollywood movies by interviewing notable Native actors, actresses, and activists. By doing so, director Neil Diamond hopes to silence Hollywood stereotypes and get Hollywood to properly represent the Native people. Hollywood s early depictions of Natives consisted of tribesmen and noble savages who are in tune with Nature. Natural evil is bad things that happen to people, whether they deserve them or not. The problem with evil is, Either we must say that God is not wholly good, and that he permits or is even the author of evil. Or we must say that God is not omnipotent, and although he is wholly good and would prevent evil if he could, he is powerless to stop it. (Fitzgerald 340). This small incorruptible good inside of us is like a piece of God in every living thing. Man can be corrupted like this because we can make morally wrong choices that deprive us of good. • 40. The Logical Problem Of Evil Essay In this paper I will discuss the logical problem of evil and how it seems to reject the existence of God as an omni 3 being. I will first layout the logical problem of evil, and then I will explain why it succeeds in disproving the existence of God. I do this through pointing out the contradictions between the definition of Godas an omni 3 being and the problem of redeemed and unredeemed evil. As well as by proving that admittance of evil in any way when in reference to the choices of God invalidates the omni 3 definition of God. I will address claims from those who believe in God about justification of evil as well as the concept and depth of human understanding. The logical problem of evil is almost as old as the concept of an omni 3 being as the one true God. God in this context being a mix of the Judeo Christian belief that God is the Greatest Conceivable Being (GCB). Being the GCB implies 3 things: God is all good (Omnibenevolent), all knowing (Omniscient), and all powerful (Omnipotent), this is commonly referred to as omni 3. This argument boils down to a simple three part argument structure: 1. If God, as an omni 3 being, exists then evil can not exist at all. 2. Evil clearly exists. 3. As a result, God as omni 3 can not exist. This is a very simple argument; premise, interference, implied contradiction, and a conclusion. It is simply through an application of modus ponens that, some believe, we are able to disprove the existence of God as an Omni 3 being. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Society s Call For Action Society s Call for Action Mass media are forms of communication that generate messages for very large, very heterogeneous, and very anonymous audiences (Thompson et al. 93). Body image is a complicated aspect of the self concept that concerns an individual s perception and feelings about their body and physical appearance (Serdar 1). With the increasing percentage of today s females struggling with personal body image issues, the media has been criticized for playing a critical role in bringing body discontentment upon the female population; several theories help explain how this discontentment happens. Media is the primary public means used around the world to relay ideas, values, norms, attitudes and behaviors (Lopez Guimera et al.388). Society is bombarded throughout their daily lives with different forms of media relaying a wide variety of messages. The thin ideal set by the mass media has become the standard for female beauty and has played a major role in how women perceive themselves. From waking up to the radio advertizing the newest diet supplement offering a free sample for a limited time only, to seeing a billboard on your way to work depicting a Victoria s Secret model in the latest push up bra, to the pop ups viewed on one s internet browser with beautiful models advertising luxury vacation destinations, to the nightly news featuring a segment of the newest fitness craze, it is clear that these forms of media cannot be avoided and play a critical role in ... • 44. Eating Disorders Are Affecting Adolescents With Increasing... Eating disorders are complex illnesses that are affecting adolescents with increasing frequency [1]. They rank as the third most common chronic illness in adolescent females, with an incidence of up to 5% 1, 2 and 3. Three major subgroups are recognized: a restrictive form in which food intake is severely limited (anorexia nervosa); a bulimic form in which binge eating episodes are followed by attempts to minimize the effects of overeating via vomiting, catharsis, exercise, or fasting (bulimia nervosa); and a third group in which all the criteria for anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa are not met. The latter group, often called eating disorder not otherwise specified or EDNOS, constitutes the majority of patients seen in referral centers treating adolescents [4]. Eating disorders are associated with serious biological, psychological, and sociological morbidity and significant mortality. Unique features of adolescents and the developmental process of adolescence are critical considerations in determining the diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of eating disorders in this age group. This position statement represents a consensus from Adolescent Medicine specialists from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia regarding the diagnosis and management of eating disorders in adolescents. • 51. Chinese Religions And The Western World Until very recently, the Chinese religions have remained fairly unknown to the Western world. Unlike the religions that have stemmed from the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent, East Asian philosophies have never had a strong concept of missionary spirit. Therefore, their expanse remained confined to the East Asian nations of China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan and Mongolia. However, in the last hundred years or so, an increase in political, commercial, and cultural contacts of the East Asian region with other parts of the world broke this trend. This helped to spread the philosophies of East Asian sages all around the globe. Scriptures and traditions of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism spread beyond the East Asian region and reached areas far and beyond, thus spreading their concept of harmony, and love for the beauty of nature. Today, a considerable amount of East Asian populations live throughout Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas and continue to influence the people and culture of these regions (Hopfe, 170.) Therefore, to acknowledge the impact of the aforementioned East Asian philosophies on American culture, this essay discusses three significant elements of the American lifestyle healthcare, cuisine, and art. To the government, this riot indicated that this economic development style could not be sustainable, thus entered a more democratic period 1920s. The riot had led to three major changes to the society. Firstly, the salary of the citizens and the purchasing price of the peasants were raised a little while the government tried to lower the market rice by increasing import from its colony Korea and Taiwan as well as other rice producing countries (Morgan 2011, 121 122), which slightly improved the living standard of the poor. The more important impact is in the government that Hara Takashi, who was the first untitled premier. This indicated the end of the Kazoku control of the government and the raise of the party politics. Since the cabinet of Hara, the premier and cabinet members could be untitled, which indicated a great progress to the Japanese democracy development. The rice riot also caused the strong opposition to the left wing ideology in Japanese government. After the riot, most of the leaders in the movement were arrested and put to the death sentence. To avoid such a riot happening again, the government had a stronger opposition to the left wing movement and strikes (Morgan 2011, 125 134). Voting is a topic of heated debate in the United States due to difference of opinions between the democrat and republican parties. In the United States the votingage has been reduced from twenty one years old to eighteen years old. Even though the voting age was reduced, some people have been lobbying in order to reduce the voting age to sixteen.
