1. Essay On Civil Rights Movement
Composing an essay on the Civil Rights Movement is a task that demands a profound
understanding of historical events, social dynamics, and the intricate complexities of the struggle
for equality. This topic encompasses a wide range of significant events, influential figures, and
the evolution of societal norms over time. As a writer, delving into the depths of this pivotal
movement requires meticulous research, thoughtful analysis, and a keen ability to convey the
historical context while capturing the emotional and social impact.
One of the primary challenges lies in distilling vast amounts of information into a coherent and
engaging narrative. The Civil Rights Movement spans several decades and involves numerous
key moments, from landmark legal cases to grassroots activism. Selecting the most relevant
aspects to include in the essay while maintaining a cohesive and flowing structure can be a
daunting task.
Moreover, addressing the complexities of racial inequality, discrimination, and the quest for
justice demands sensitivity and awareness. Balancing historical accuracy with an empathetic
portrayal of the struggles faced by individuals and communities adds an additional layer of
difficulty to the writing process. It requires a careful choice of language to convey the gravity of
the events without perpetuating stereotypes or diminishing the significance of the movement.
Crafting a compelling thesis statement that captures the essence of the Civil Rights Movement
and guides the reader through the essay is another challenge. This statement must not only
encapsulate the overarching theme but also provide a roadmap for the subsequent analysis and
exploration of subtopics.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on the Civil Rights Movement is no small
feat. It demands a thorough understanding of historical nuances, effective research skills, and the
ability to communicate a complex narrative with clarity and empathy. However, as with any
challenging writing endeavor, the reward lies in contributing to the collective understanding of a
pivotal moment in history.

2. There Will Be Blood Character Analysis
There Will Be Blood is an exciting film made in 2007. The director and screenwriter
of this movie is Paul Thomas Anderson. He based his movie off of a novel called Oil
written by Upton Sinclair. Some well known actors star in this movie, some such as:
Daniel Day Lewis who plays a successful oil driller known as Daniel Plainview,
Dillon Freasier who plays the orphan son of Daniel Plainview, HW, and Paul Dano
who plays a pair of twins named Eli and Paul Sunday. I d have to say in this filmyou
should expect to see more of a tragic drama. Daniel Plainview in this movie is a
very intelligent man that knows how to get what he wants in a very convincing way.

There are some scenes where the plot or setting doesn t change for a very long
time which might lose the focus of some viewers. Daniel Plainview, played by Day
Lewis, is the main character who uses his manipulative ways to try and persuade
people into his way on how to do things. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, is the son
of Daniel and is used as the cute face in Daniels operations. Eli Sunday, played by
Paul Dano, is a pastor at a small church located in his town, but sometimes uses his
religious views to get his way on certain things. The old fashioned houses, and
drilling equipment reveals that this film takes place in the early 1900s. The movie
will periodically jump forward in time to show the progress Daniel has made with
drilling. I think the overall purpose for making this film is to show how things might
have been in the earlier 1900s and how people dealt with their

4. Algebraic Algebra Research Paper
In the next few centuries, many ideas and procedures for algebra were developed by
the Islamic mathematicians. (Katz, 2007, p.192). In the twelfth and thirteenth
centuries, Islamic algebra spread to Europe. It was still in the static equation solving
phase. In the sixteenth century, the work of Italian mathematicians brought a major
advancement in mathematics. They found new methods to solve equations. (Katz,
2007, p.193). In the seventeenth century, the point of view in algebrawas greatly
changed. Because the mathematicians have also begun questioning about the
equation problems not just finding solutions. (Katz, 2007, p.194). Later in the
eighteenth century, the development in mathematics changed the notion of algebra.

Identifying, relating, spreading, and explaining patterns motivate them to reflect on
solving algebraic problems. Working with patterns enables young children to
recognize relations and form simplifications. (Taylor Cox, 2003, p.15). Representing
and investigating mathematical situations and structures is a chief element of
algebraic thinking. Children need numerous experiences with mathematical situations
and structures in order to build the concepts of commutativity, associativity, and
equality. If children begin to understand those concepts in early grades, particularly
the equality, then they would be able to solve the unknown variables. (Taylor Cox,
2003, p.17). Mathematical models of quantitative relationships are required to
recognize and identify the values. The instructors should encourage children by
asking questions about quantities, situations, and kind of patterns. These questions
help to develop the thinking of quantitative relationships models in children. (Taylor
Cox, 2003, p.19). Change is a fundamental concept of algebraic thinking. There are
two types of change in algebra: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative change
mathematically labels as smaller, taller, and fuller terms and the quantitative change
labels as numeric language. It is essential for children to notice and think about both
types of change. (Taylor Cox, 2003, p.20). The algebraic thinking opportunities are
limitless. It is

him for one on one meeting to discuss the following issue. My anxiety would be
high at stake, I could have been depressed by the decision made by pastor Kevin, just

I to decide the speaker for the retreat? I was just an intern who is getting supervised. I
felt like I was falling apart as a leader. This could be interpreting as my own greed. I
am pretty sure there are pastors that are ready to speak right away if they ve
received the invitation to speak front of people. I explore myself through this

Dealing with formative and summative can be a difficult task that can have a
confusing definition. Over the past years both assessment are well balance
assessment systems that gather very important information. These assessments are

will provide information that will distinguish the different roles of each education
assessment in schools. It will provide studies of assessments related to subjects when

timely matter that provides information in the educational system to the next level on
a large scale. When dealing with high quality scale assessments are for a purpose.
Assessments can be sometimes not helpful sometimes when teachers improve their
instruction to modify their method to students. Students will take assessments at the
end of the school year when instructor activities are completed. Then it comes to a
point when teachers will not receive test scores and goals until later, as the students
have moved to the next grade level. And thirdly, the results that teachers receive
usually lack the level of detail needed to target specific improvements (Barton, 2002;
Kifer, 2001).
Many assessments are for improvement for students learning in tests, writing, and
other assessments when teachers administer students in class on a daily basis. When
teachers approve of the different results they are directed
8. My Options For Clearing Debt
Your Options for Clearing Debt
Debt is something most of us will experience at one point or another in our lives,
but very few of us actually discuss. Not only is it sometimes difficult to admit (to
others and to yourself) that you ve fallen into debt, but it s a topic that few of us
are actually qualified to talk about impartially. It s also something that s very
specific, and will differ greatly from person to person, so here, instead of seeking
to answer all the questions, we ve instead decided to offer some more general
advice. These are some of the general options you might want to consider if you are
dealing with debt and are struggling to understand what your next step should be.
Note, however, that before you go through with any of the options listed below, you
ll want to open a dialogue with your creditor and see if you can reach an agreement
with them directly.
Debt Management Plan (DMP) As the name suggests, a DMP is effectively a plan
setup with a provider that will take all of your disparate debts and compile them

managed to build up a lot of smaller debts (credit cards, overdrafts, etc) and want to
keep them organised in one place so you don t forget about them. You d be surprised
how often that happens! You can set up a DMP either with your existing creditors, or
with a third party firm, but whomever you use, there will be setup and handling fees
to consider. As previously

Butanoic acid does not have the highest molecular mass. This phenomenon can be
attributed to hydrogen bonding. Due to the way the carboxylic molecule is arranged,

carboxylate ion increases stability because the charges are divided. Each oxygen
bears a charge of negative 1/2. This reduction in charge concentration increases

As the reader, I observed that Shylock used the word You twelve times between lines
27 and 123. This is Shylock s second time doing this.
Antonio s response was astonishing. It revealed him to be an arrogant, cruel and
heartless creature, who has no regard for other peoples feelings. When Antonio says;
I am as like to call thee so again, to spit on thee again, to spurn thee too. This
evidently shows the reader that Christians thought of themselves as superior to Jews.
They thought that they were above Jews and could treat them however they wanted.
The reader s opinion of Antonio changes so suddenly, from the protagonist everyone
loves, to a mean, arrogant and racist Christian.
In this short extract, the hatred in the lines radiates off the page. The reader is
given a clear picture of how Racial discrimination was so evident in those days. The
hostility and hatred between Christians and Jews is very well presented and

may or may not have changed. The author s use of language and literary devices was
cleverly used to show the reader what he was trying to

Thomas Jefferson was well known to have a great appreciation for architecture.
Because of this, the architecture in his life held great meaning. A particular home that
held great interest was the Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. This home
exemplifies the neoclassical style. The neoclassical period refers to a time of reason.
There were no dramatic events that instituted the period, but rather occurring events
over a period of time.
Jefferson spent much time in Europe, and loved the architecture he saw there. This is
what started the remodeling of the Monticello.

In 1985, when Neil Postman penned, Amusing Ourselves to Death, CNN, and the
twenty four hour news cycle existed in its infancy and televangelism was still
unscathed by the Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggart scandals. A B movie actor sat in the
Oval Office. Conceivably most importantly, television, the love child of the
photograph and the telegraph, had reached maturity to become fully entrenched in
American culture after thirty some years (p. 100). Newscasters, preachers, and
politicians had become celebrities. The information presented on the tube was
deficient in meaningful content and lacked context. Nevertheless, the public s level
of amusement rode high. Televisions capacity to manipulate public persona and
information on the news, in religion, and in politics creates a vaudeville atmosphere
on these modes of public discourse.

Yet, nearly everyone had an opinion, mostly based on the emotion based on watching
the news and being informed . Perhaps this is better described as disinformation, not
false or untrue, but fragmented, irrelevant and misleading. This is the inevitable
result of TV news packaging serious discourse as entertainment, a vaudeville

An ethical dilemma is a situation by which it s difficult to determine whether a
situation is can be handled without disappointing both sides. Therefore, an ethical
dilemma exists when the right thing to do is clear or when members of the

negotiation of different points of view (potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall 2011pg 78).
The case study briefly explains a situation between daughter and father regarding the

Joe Sacco s graphic novel, Palestine, deals with the repercussions of the first intifada
in Israel/Palestine/the Holy Land. The story follows the author through the many
refugee camps and towns around Palestine as he tries to gather information, stories,
and pictures to construct his graphic novel. While the book is enjoyable at a face
level, there are many underlying themes conveyed throughout its illustrated pages and
written text.
The most obvious of the themes is that of violence, brutality, and torture. Tied into
this also is the idea of injustice. Many of these themes are intertwined. Constantly the
reader is berated with violent images, or descriptions of violence. These must be on
nearly every second page of the novel. A good... Show more content on

The first to examine is near the end of the text while Sacco is leaving Palestine; he is
sitting beside an old Jewish American . She states that it is a shame all the violence
that goes on in the area, especially after all the hardships the Jews have already
suffered. To contrast this, the reader must look back to an earlier instance in the
book that is mainly textual . Here it talks about the opinions of the Zionists who first
moved to Israel, as well as quotes from Prime Ministers of Israel. Quotes such as,
Palestinian Arabs have only one role left to flee. and It was not as though there was a

hypocrisy. After all the Jews had suffered from other cultures and societies
discriminating against them, one would think that they would not wish to inflict
anything similar on another culture or society. Quotes like this almost seem
reminiscent to those issued during the time of the Holocaust (i.e., the Jews are not
human/people). Similar to this, instances of hypocrisy are apparent throughout the
novel .
Finally, there is also an underlying theme of the sensationalist nature of the media. At
many times one finds Sacco talking about how he wants to see instances of violence
happen, because they would make a great page for
18. The Influence Of Abstract And Modern Art
Abstract and modern art have really changed the way society views and
appreciation for the amazing contributions and work created by artists. There are
so many styles and concepts which those artists have come up with over times
which are greatly reflected in their paintings and creations. In this essay we will be
going on a journey to find out the inspiration and the intended messages from three
paintings mentioned in the above topic. The Large Bathers, 1898 1905 is the largest
of Cezanne s pictures and because it is also the most formal in aspect, it has been
cited often as an example of his ideal of composition and his restoration if classical
monumentality after its lapse during the nineteenth century (www.PaulCezanne.org).
This painting was one of the most mind blowing yet interesting pieces during this era
because of its unfinished quality which caused quite a stir among writers, artists and
historians. The nude forms presented along with the river and triangular pattern in
which the trees were painted gives quite an interesting perspective to his work. The
composition of the painting did not reflect the ideal typical style from the
Renaissance pyramid. Instead it was created in another style where the central part is
empty, the apex is intercepted by the frame and the greatest compactness comes in
smaller pyramids for the largest figures. One can also notice from Cezanne s work
the way he thought about portrayed women. The abstract nude females present in

throughout the novel. Steinbeck purposefully gave Jim Casy the same initials as Jesus

that since he s got no kids, it would be better for him to be in jail as compared to

20. Christian Funeral Traditions
RE
What happens when we die (Christianity)
Christian funeral services serve the same purpose: to pray for the soul of the
deceased, as well as to offer comfort and support to the bereaved.
The typical Christian funeral includes:
An opening statement lead by the priest or minister. Depending on the religion it may
be either a prayer, a statement that shows support to the bereaved, or a combination of
both.
Prayers and hymns are read and sung throughout the funeral. Guests are often
encouraged to read or sing along at appropriate times.
Scripture readings are a common part of most services. Similar to prayer and hymns,
the specific readings and their placement in the ceremony differ by religion.

21. Hume s Problem Of Induction Essay
Hume provided an integral philosophical question analyzing the problems of
causality and of induction. Following Hume s claims, Kant offered his attempt to
solve Hume s problem (or, more broadly, the problems that empiricism faced). By
carefully explaining what the problem is that Kant is attempting to solve, then
explaining vigilantly how Kant tries to solve it. Thus leading to a concluding
critical examination to Kant s solution, indicating whether it s successful and why
or why not that s so. Hume asserts that there is no form of good reasoning that
leads to the conclusion that the future will resemble the past, or that similar causes
will lead to similar effects. Hume dedicated his philosophical work trying to
uncover the problem of induction, and his skepticism of causality. Hume s claims
stem from separating two asserts of knowledge as relations of ideas priori, meaning
that they are certain and it is impossible to imagine them to be false, they tell you
about the meaning of words, knowledge of truths and facts and matters of fact much
of what the scientific community uses, there are craters on the moon, uncertain and

He exposes the relation of knowledge and causality by criticizing two assertions.
That every cause has an effect, and if A causes B...then B will always be a result of
event A in the future. The following assertions both can t be validated by either our
intuition or through our senses, Hume claims these assertions are problematic.
Referencing Hume s theory of knowledge, there is no absolute justification for the
faulty assertions, thus emerging the problem of causation. Hume asserts that our
senses can t possibly perceive that all events have a cause, or that we can perceive and
comprehend the causal connection between the two events ensuing chronologically

Women Buying Cars
Last spring while trying to buy my first car, I experienced frustration in gaining
acknowledgment from salesmen as well as their respect at several different
dealerships. I discovered it was my attitude and approach to the salesmen that would
make the difference in the treatment I received from the them in buying a car myself.
I discovered, by informing the salesman from the beginning that I was serious and
financially capable of buying a car, I was able to get a salesman to take time in
helping me, a high school female, make a car purchase.
Through my experience, I discovered women are at fault for the treatment received

It s in the way women present themselves on a car lot that lets salesmen know how

23. Tim Burton Cinematic Techniques Analysis
Many people have wondered about Director Tim Burton s movies and how come they
have a childlike innocence. Burton uses different cinematic techniques to create a
peculiar, and childlike innocent mood. Some of these cinematic techniques are,
lighting, sound and camera movements..
Burton used many different lighting techniques throughout all of the movies he
directed. For example, Tim Burton uses a mix of high key and low key lighting in
the cookie factory flashback scene. In the background during this flashback, it is
dark, and the machines are well lit and the audience can see the machines very
clearly. When the inventor walks in, he has warm and bright lighting showing his
facial expressions and his actions. The mood that the viewers might get from this
scene, is most probably going to be happy. When Burton added in this scene, he
meant to make the lighting the way it is to make the very eerie or spooky castle,
less spooky and eerie . Seeing the inventor happy, might make ... Show more content

Burton uses sound in many ways, and it s mainly to create a certain mood and tone
for that scene. The non diegetic sound creates the mood of each scene, for example,
during the opening of Edward Scissorhands , the music starts out as heavenly, then
proceeds to transition into ghastly music and foreshadows that something has gone
wrong. Something has happened and now the inventor has passed away. Kind of like
in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , the oompa loompas start to sing every time
one of the children are taken away. Why? Because it s foreshadowing that the child
has gone wrong, is spoiled and disobeys almost everything and anything their parents
say. This technique is a different way to show viewers boring facts and turn them into
interesting facts, to make viewers want to watch again. Burton uses sound in many
ways, and he does it to create tone, mood and to show the emotions of current actors

In this experiment, double replacement reactions amongst six aqueous compounds
were witnessed. (Find better place for this sentence )The six known solutions were
NaOH, K2SO4, Cu (NO3)2, Pb(NO3)2, Co(NO3)2, and BaCl2. Following this,
deductive reasoning was used to determine the identity of two unknown solutions,
based off of how they reacted with the six standard compounds. In order to set up
the experiment, firstly each of the six compounds were poured onto six makeshift
wells on a mirrored sheet, with each well containing two drops of a single
compound. The original color of each compound was recorded. After this, two more
drops of the compounds were added to the individual wells so that each well would
contain a unique combination of two compounds. Once this was completed, it was
determined which solutions had reacted by whether or not a precipitate formed in
the solution. If a precipitate had formed, the new color of the solution was recorded.

Because the first unknown s cation formed a precipitate with the OH from NaOH,
the cation cannot be Barium, as BaOH is a soluble compound. The unknown
substance also did not react with BaCl2, and so the cation cannot be lead, as lead
always forms a precipitate with chlorides. However, it formed no precipitate with
either Cu(NO3)2 or , Co(NO3)2, which means the cation is either copper or lead.
Because the unknown formed a precipitate with BaCl2, and Barium can only form
an insoluble compound with sulfate, the anion of the compound must be SO42.
Finally, because the resulting precipitate was blue, it was finally deduced the cation
is Cu2+, as blue solutions are a characteristic of copper. Therefore, the identity of the
first unknown is CuSO4, or Copper (II)

Triangular Numbers

H Algebra 2A
October 21, 2014
A triangular number is a number that counts the amount of objects that form when
they are put together to form an equilateral triangle (a triangle with all equal sides).
The most common object used to form a triangle are dots. When the dots create an
equilateral triangle, the number of dots seen in the triangle represent the triangular
number. Overall, the sequence is generated from a pattern of dots which form a
triangle.
The first row contains a single dot and each subsequent row contains more dots than
the previous one. The sequence of triangular numbers are: 1, 3, 6,10, 15, 21... and so
on.
When working with multiple triangles, each triangle is assigned a triangle number.
For example, triangle one (T1) has a triangular number of one. Triangle three has a
triangular number of six. The letter T, followed but a number represents a certain
triangle.
The formula to calculate the amount of object using a stated length is:
Tn(th)= n(n+1) 2
T represents triangle number. N represents the length of the three sides of the
equilateral triangle. If a number (and only whole numbers) were plugged in for N.
The final answer of the problem would equal the number objects (dots) in the
equilateral triangle.
Example: n= length of 6Formula: Tnth= n(n+1) 2
Plug in 6 for n. T6th=6(6+1) 2
Solve.T6th= 6(7)T6th=42T6th=21. 22

Abstract
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects one s rights
against unreasonable searches and seizures. It also states that no warrants shall be
issued without probable cause. Probable cause can be defined as a person of
reasonable caution who believes that a crime has been committed and the person
accused has committed that crime. Modern law has afforded police officers an
incentive to respect this amendment, known as the stop and frisk act. The Stop and
Frisk law allows police officers to stop someone and do a quick search of their outer
clothing for weapons: if the officer has a reasonable suspicion that a crime has or is
about to take place and the person stopped is armed or dangerous. The reasonable ...

On October 31, 1963, a Cleveland police detective named Martin McFadden saw
two men, John W. Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking
suspicious. One would walk by a certain store window, stare in, and walk back to
the other to confer. This was repeated several times, and the detective believed that
they were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer approached the men and
addressed himself as a policeman, and asked their names. When the men appeared
suspicious in their answers, Officer McFadden patted them down and discovered that
both men were armed. He proceeded to remove their guns and arrested them for

39. Use Of Similes In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
One often hears the saying, Don t judge a man until you have walked a mile in
their shoes. The way an author uses similes can help the reader better understand
how the character feel and what they re going through like Sylvia Plath in The Bell
Jar. Esther Greenwood, a college student, working at a month long job as a guest
editor for a fashion magazine feels like an outcast from the rest of the girls; she
doesn t seem to fit in. When she arrives back home, she receives several bad news
leads her into thinking suicideis the best thing to do. After multiple failed attempts,
she is put into a mental hospital where she will gain hope in life and finally discover
who she really is. In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, there are several instances in which
the author uses similes to illustrate a more detailed image/description to better
portray how the main character felt during her New York job, her suicide attempts,
and at her stay at the mental institution. During The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath used
similes to highlight Esther s characteristic of a wallflower during her trip to New
York. After Frankie, one of Lenny s friend abandones Esther, he is forced to take
her and Doreen to his apartment. Lenny obviously wanting privacy with Doreen he
asks her to go but Doreen defends Esther and says she will only go with the do any
of her friend. From there on, Esther feels unwanted and ignored while she spends
time at Lenny s place. Plath describes Esther s abandonment while Lenny and
Doreen dance, I felt myself shrinking to a small black dot against all those red and
white rugs and that pine paneling. I felt like a hole in the ground (Plath 16). Esther
feels left out while her best friend and a stranger dance. The simile expresses how
she felt invisible and ignored. The author tries to relate to the reader who once in
their life may have felt outcastes or left out. Esther has a tendency to feel terrible
about herself. From the beginning of the story, she explains how she feels different
and not in the right place. The author wrote, The city had faded my tan, though. I

Two Brilliant Heroes in Ancient Greek Myths Who has not heard of heroes in Greek
mythology? They are the role models, inspirations, and protagonists in myths. In
ancient times, after a long work day, the members of the community have little to no
energy remaining, but utilize what strength they have left in a magnificent manner.
The citizens meet up, and entertain themselves with myths regarding heroes,
monsters, gods and goddesses. However, the most popular myths revolved around
heroes, and their adventures. In the majority of myths, heroes participate in
impossible adventures, and miraculously, came back with more confidence than they
had when they set out. The heroes in these myths are the ones that everyone loves
and appreciates. Two examples of famous heroes are Hercules and Achilles. They are
two well known heroes that play active roles in myths, and teach valuable life
lessons. The two myths and the role of the heroes in them that are analyzed here are
two fan favourites: the myth of Hercules and Athena, and the myth of Achilles and the
Trojan War. Hercules s adventure begins as soon as he is born. The fact that he is a
product of Zeus and a mortal enrages Hera, Zeus s wife, and Hercules suffers. As a
result of this, Hera sends two snakes to kill him in his crib. The infant Hercules is
unusually strong and strangles the snakes before they can assassinate him. As one

In the same way as other authors of his time, Hawthorne underlined man s internal
reality, and those musings and sentiments which are not promptly clear. As he
investigated this inward nature, he not just discovered the wellspring of poise and

Minister s Black Veil, these components are dealt with as genuine and unpreventable
strengths in human presence. The bringing together subject is the contention between
the dull, shrouded side of man and the guidelines forced by his rigid legacy, and the
mental and handy ramifications of this contention. Hawthorne brings malicious and
unapproved longing into the circuit of puritan life, and in this way passes on a
significant truth that is irritating in its suggestion, to be specific that we can never

and the utilization of ace Freudian mental examination.... Show more content on

Numerous individuals accept that the face gives data around a man s hidden qualities
and, consequently, about his or her likely conduct. Subsequently, by wearing the
cover, the pastor takes away the premise on which individuals can anticipate his
conduct. This is the primary driver of the clergyman s detachment, despite the fact
that he is made unusual as of now by the unimportant demonstration of wearing the
cloak. Some piece of the startling impact of the shroud gets from the learning that the
individual behind it can see everything without being seen
42. The Search for Truth in Anton Chekhov s The Cherry...
The scholar is engaged in the interminable quest for truth. The knowledge that one
can never understand everything makes a person wise. Ignorance is the assumption
that one can understand all about the world around them. An ignorant person is so
confident they comprehend the truth, that they are blind to the greater truth. Anton
Chekhov and Sophoclesdeal with the idea of this sinful pride that leads to ignorance
in their respective works, The Cherry Orchard and Oedipus Rex. In each drama,
certain characters are slapped in the face with the truth; the light is revealed.
However, these characters make the connection when it is too late. Their destruction
is already destined to become a reality, a horrid fate that could have been prevented....

The timing of the chorus plea as Oedipus enters the stage clearly demonstrates that
Oedipus is the man whom he seeks, the murderer of the king. The truth of the play is
revealed, yet Oedipus remains ignorant.
Chekhov also makes use of a symbol to represent truth in his play. In The Cherry
Orchard, the Ranevskayas are an aristocratic family that squander away their final
days at their beloved cherry orchard. It shall soon be auctioned off, yet the family
merely sits about and engages in meaningless chatter. They assume that everything
shall be taken care of, the way it always has been in their lives. However, there is
one man who seems to be above the careless atmosphere that surrounds him
Lopakhin, the hard working son of generations of peasants. This man of great
ambition represents truth. The truth that Chekhov reveals in the play is the emerging
changes in the Russian social structure. The industrious middle class is on the rise,
and the lazy aristocracy is doomed to fade away. In the end, Lopakhin buys the
cherry orchard, which is the estate where [his] father and grandfather were slaves
(Chekhov 366). The cherry orchard was the security, the wealth, and the power of the
aristocracy; it is bought by a merchant, the son of peasants. Could the aristocracy not
see what was happening, or did they choose to remain ignorant? By constructing
summer cottages, the Ranevskaya family could have prevented the loss of the beloved
43. The Subprime Mortgage Crisis Of 2008
There have been many different theories that claim to provide reasons as to what
caused the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008. Whether it was the effects of the
dot.com bust or unforeseen aftermath of the terrorist attack on September 11th,
decisions made by congress, or money hungry bankers and investors or homebuyers
themselves, this crisis veered the country into a financial catastrophe, claiming to be
second to that of the great depression. This paper will give an overview of the
subprime mortgage crisis, discuss perceived causes, persons involved, persons
affected and the outcome it had on business practices and the country as a whole.
Subprime Mortgage Crisis of 2008
The subprime mortgage crisis is the financial banking crisis that stimulated the
country s recession between the years 2007 2010. At the fountain of the crisis was
an expansion of mortgage credit to borrowers who previously would have difficulty
being approved for loans due to low credit scores and inadequate down payments.
History tells a story that after the Great Depression, the government felt the need put
regulations into effect to protect investor s deposits. A new legislation known as the
Glass Seagall Act passed in 1933 was enacted not only protected investor s deposits
but also separate dealings of commercial banks from investment banks. As David
Ingram wrote, commercial banks manage deposit accounts, such as checking and
savings accounts, for individuals and businesses. They make loans to
44. How Dangerous Is Salt Water for Our Kidneys
Our bodies, specifically the kidneys, have the amazing ability to conserve or get rid
of water when needed through two key mechanisms. These two important players are
the the loop of Henle in the nephron and the anti diuretic hormone (ADH) that is
secreted by the pituitary gland of our endocrine system. Our renal and endocrine
systems are always working together to maintain homeostasis and keep the ions and
other substances inside our body balanced, but coping with extremely high amounts
of sodium is challenging and hard on our bodies. Although consuming a very small
amount of saltwater will not kill you, drinking large quantities of saltwater is never
to be advised. The structure of the loop of Henlein the nephronhas the ability to either
filter out or keep ions within the loop. First, the dilute filtrate goes through the
glomerulus of the nephron where it is losing water, glucose, hormones, and other
ions in the proximal convoluted tubule. It travels down the descending limb of the
loop which is only permeable to water. Water is reabsorbed out passively leaving the
filtrate extremely concentrated with sodium and chloride ions. The filtrate then
travels back up the ascending limb which is permeable to ions and not to water. The
sodium and chloride ions are filtered out and absorbed actively at this stage. By the
time the filtrate reaches the distal convoluted tubule, it is dilute again. It then travels
down the collecting duct. It concentrates the sodium and chloride out
45. Chuck Close Analysis
Chuck Close is a modern American artist who has achieved success for his large
scale portraits. Yes, I would describe Close s work as a form of language because it
explored the established visual presentation from the portraits. The subject of his
portraits has been drawn from himself, his family, and friends. His works explain
that it has been driven by his lifelong learning difficulties. His portraits tell
everything about his struggle to remember the faces while drawing. Also, the uses of
the grid to break down every imagethat he paints into small incremental units
showed that we could easily focus on each part of his paintings. I would consider
this exploration of an artist at work as good and well deserving artworks in exploring
the process.
46. The W. P. Swanson Confectionery Era Essay
The W. P. Swanson Confectionery Era
An unfortunate incident occurred toward the conclusion of the 1920s, when robbers
broke into Bill, Clara, and Anton s garage and stole their brand new Buick
automobile. While Clara lay in bed on the eventful night, she heard noise outside.
Fearful of the consequences of a confrontation with the intruders, to safeguard Bill
she refrained from waking him. Blissfully unaware of the burglars, Bill slept through
the night and didn t discover the theft until morning.26 An investigation revealed that
after breaking into the garage, the thieves pushed the car out of the garage, the full
length of the driveway onto the street, and down the street away from the scene of the
crime, before starting the Buick and driving it away. The authorities never recovered
the automobile.27
In 1929, Clara became pregnant at the age of thirty five, regarded as too advanced in
years to begin a family. An unexpected child this late in life, of course, created
elation for the blessed arrival. However, in addition to Clara s age, her family and
personal history also caused grave concerns for the safety of both mother and baby.
The death of Clara s mother from frail health attributed to childbirth and the death of
Clara s only sibling, a brother, during his first year of life weighed heavily on Bill,
Clara, and Anton.28 Furthermore, a miscarriage early in their marriage, while still
farming in Peaceful Valley, exacerbated the concern.29 In an era when
47. Dr. Malcom Sayer s Awakening
Awakening is based on a true story of a neurologist named Oliver Sacks; he was
portrayed by Dr. Malcom Sayer that was played by Robin Williams. He is a
neurologist who moved to a new institution in 1969 and was able to make a
miracle to some patients who were catatonic. A boy named Leonard showed at the
first, it was confusing since nobody knew what was happening to him. His hand
kept on twitching and being stiff, he couldn t write properly because of that. Then
the scene changed and it was 1969. There came Dr. Malcom Sayer a neurologist
who was assigned in Bronx Psychiatric Hospital. He was surprised because why he
will be handling real people; Dr. Sayer wasn t used to that. Days passed and he

But the one actor who stood out was Robert De Niro as Leonard Lowe. The person
that he did as Leonard Lowe wasn t a very easy job because he has to act as if he
actually is sick. Leonard is always getting hurt; his voice isn t normal, and the way
his actions were in the movie. I m positive that Robert De Niro had a hard time
portraying his character. The way he acted it so well fascinates me and made me
realize that he is a great actor. In the movie, there are some parts that I didn t like.
It is where all the patients that were awakened became asleep again. That part
made me sad and also made me realize that all good things must come to an end
even if no one wants that. There were also parts that I liked for example; when the
nurse cursed and said that it s a miracle, also that time where Leonard has awoken.
Those events made me realize that miracles do happened in one s life when we
least expected it to be. Since the movie has a genre of the movie is drama, the rate
of this should be PG 13. It has a more mature meaning to people and it knocks out
some sense to you that even though life can be hard; we should all know how to be
patient and to be
48. Aesthetics In Honduras
V.Religion and Aesthetics In Honduras, Christianity is the prevalent religion. 97%
of the population is Roman Catholic and 3% are Protestants. This widespread of
Christianity traces its roots back to the early sixteenth century when the Spanish
invaded Honduras. Folk dances and modern dances are enjoyed by Hondurans.
The sique and mascaro are the two main types of folk dances in Honduras (Painter,
2016). VI.Living Conditions Rural conditions are vastly different from those who
live in the city. 60% of the land is forested while 25% is available for agriculture.
Many of the citizens are farmers because of the amount of land accessible to farm
with. The quality of soil is far less than standard. In the mountainous areas, the soil
is either eroded or not viable enough to sustain crops grown. Because of this, many
small farmers are much poorer and live in poverty. Many families eat corn or beans
for the better part of each meal while meat is rare to some (Merrill, 1995).... Show

Houses are built with sugarcane stalks, bound together with mud. The floors in
each hut are made of dirt. Finding a place to live has become difficult for some.
The more land is used to raise cattle and plant vegetables, the less space available
for people to live. Many people are known to squat in locations not suitable for
humans to thrive and dwell. This constitutes a low standard of living in rural areas.
Those who have money experience much better living conditions. They have access
to clean water and more food. Citizens in this class live in houses near populous
cities or even own their own land (Merrill,
49. Open Hernia Research Paper
Open hernia repair is a surgical procedure to fix a hernia. A hernia occurs when an
internal organ or tissue pushes out through a weak spot in the abdominal wall
muscles. Hernias commonly occur in the groin and around the navel.
Most hernias tend to get worse over time. Surgery is often done to prevent the hernia
from becoming bigger, uncomfortable, or an emergency. Emergency surgerymay be
needed if abdominal contents get stuck in the opening (incarcerated hernia) or the
blood supply gets cut off (strangulated hernia). In an open repair, an incision is made
in the abdomen to perform the surgery.

50. The And The Trial Rather Than On Primary Sources
Question 1: Larson relies heavily on earlier studies of Surratt and the trial rather
than on primary sources. She uses several secondary sources to paint a vivid, well
realized portrait of Mary Surratt. In her Acknowledgments section, she specifically
credits James O. Hall who perhaps did more than anyone to advance scholarship and
research into the conspiracy to kidnap then assassinate President Lincoln. She also
states that the research files housed at the James O. Hall Research Center are the
core of any historian s investigation into the complex web of John Wilkes Booths fatal
scheme (231). She also thanks Google Books, Making of America, Documenting the
American South, the Gutenberg Project, and numerous universities,... Show more

Larson does show to have posed her own questioning of Surratt s role. She states
that new information {is} uncovered every day (134). Mary is clearly established
as not only guilty but more highly involved than anyone has given her credit for thus
far. Mary converted to Catholicism at age sixteen and married the unstable alcoholic
John Surratt, age twenty six, who died in 1862 and left her with the boardinghouse at
541 H Street (1). Through her son, John Jr., a confederate courier (or messenger),
Mary gained ties to Booth and other accomplices who stayed at the boardinghouse
often.
Question 3: Major figures in this book include, obviously Mary Surratt, along with
her son John Surratt, John Wilkes Booth, David Herold, George Azterodt, Lewis
Powell, Michael O Laughlen, Samuel Arnold, Samuel Mudd, and Edmund Spangler.
Her attorney in the trial was Reverdy Johnson though he decided to let Frederick
Aiken take his place, because he believed the military tribunal was unconstitutional.
The inexperience of Aiken may have aided in Surratt s final guilty verdict as he kept
asking questions that aided in the showing her true colors. The current Secretary of
War, Sir Edwin Stanton, favored a quick military trial and execution, whereas

51. Daisy Miller- the Huck Finn of Her Time
Martin Daisy Miller was not the average young European woman during the 1800
s. Much like Huckleberry Finn, Daisy, coming from America did not want to
conform to the norms of European society. She wanted to be her own individual.
While reading Daisy Miller there were three common themes that arose which led
me to believe that Daisy could be addressed as the female version of Huck Finn.
Some of the themes include: the constant search for freedom, rejecting the norms of
society, and the uncultured lifestyles that both tried to achieve. Huck Finn was in
constant search of freedom beyond schooling and dressing up for Sundays. The
Widow Douglas, she took me for her son, and allowed she would civilize me, but it

Both Daisy and Huck find pleasure in knowing that it s ok to live outside of
society s expectations, especially if it s what made them happy. Daisy and Huck
were known for the uncultured lifestyles that they both worked hard to achieve.
Daisy, growing up in an era where young women were suppose to be seen rather
than heard, thrived on the fact that she knew how to drive men crazy. She knew
she was attractive and used it to her benefit. Huck was given a warm house to stay
in, with food on the table and clothes on his back, but yet chose to leave for a more
adventurous life. Not only did he pass up a fairly normal home life, but he took to
adventures on the river with the widow s slave Jim. Hello, Jim! He bounced up
and stared at me wild. Then he drops down on his knees, and puts his hands
together and says: Doan hut me don t. I was ever so glad to see Jim I warn t
lonesome now. I told him I warn t afraid of him telling people where I was. It s
good daylight, lets get breakfast. (pg.241) This passage shows me how little Huck
cares about what society thinks of him. He finds his widow s slave and instead of
turning him in, he feeds him, and the two become comrades. Many people would
condemn Huck for associating and helping a run away slave. Huck never once
regrets his decision, and the two become the best of friends. Much like Huck, Daisy
lives a very uncultured lifestyle as well. She came from America to Europe and
52. Jealousy In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Some argue that Mary Shelley did nothing shy from pouring her soul and heart into
the novel Frankenstein. Mary states that the novel was built off the happier times in
her life, yet signs of negative feelings, anger and jealousy can be found throughout
the novel. In the 18th century novel Frankenstein you can see many incidents where
Mary Shelley s life was reflected into the writing. The novelitself was set in multiple
locations such as Geneva and England. These settings have a connection to Mary
Shelley s life. The novel begins with Geneva as the birth place of the protagonist.

This has a connection to how Mary Shelley seen her newborn son, William.
William s name also has a connection to Mary s father. I wish you could see him; he
is very tall for his age, with sweet laughing blue eyes, dark eyelashes, and curling
hair. When he smiles, two little dimples appear on each cheek, which are rosy with
health (Shelley 48), this shows Mary Shelley s contrast between William of the
book and her new son William. Both situations where the mother died and the
father took care of him/her happened when they were young. They also both had
two sister join the family ascending the mother s death. Mary Shelley s father
married into two girls and Victor had two sisters adopted into the family. This
made a significant connection to Mary Shelley s life. Mary Shelley and Victor both
got married in an early age. There seems to be a connection in the spouses
departures too. Victor s wife was killed by the monster and Mary s husband was
taken from
53. Afghanistan Cold War Essay
Like many countries throughout the world, the America s involvement in
Afghanistan began during the Cold War. Communists in 1978 seized power under
the People s Democratic Party of Afghanistan, the PDPA, led by Nur Muhammad
Taraki. The PDPA attempted to impose secular reforms and land redistribution,
resulting in serious opposition. This opposition proved particularly forceful amongst
the country s religious leaders, who also represented a new wave Islamic revivalism
within the Muslim world. By 1979 the communists were loosing control and
President Carter authorized funding for covert action in the form of medical aid and
propaganda for the opposition. In response the Soviets stepped up their presence and
contributions to the communists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these groups were based on complex ethnic ties and territories throughout
Afghanistan, which repeatedly failed to coalesce under a single national authority.
Scholar Kamal Matinuddin explains that because of the tribal nature of Afghan
society, the country was incapable of delivering a charismatic leader who, as an
accepted political figure and as the head of a national army, would command the
respect of all anti communist elements in the Afghanistan. Eventually these factions
reached an agreement under the Peshawar Accord, which established an interim
government, the Islamic State of Afghanistan and included Ahmad Shah Massoud.
However, there was one exception:
54. Discrimination Of Women In America
Throughout history man has always felt superior to women. Though most believe
that America has moved past this discrimination, it is still very much so practiced.
Of course in the news we hear about how women are treated in other countries.
They either work all day for the family, have little to no rights, or in general are put
down. In the U.S. the discrimination may not seem as bad, but with how advanced
America is, any discrimination should not be practiced. Whether it be receiving
lower wages or an easy target to abuse, women in America are still greatly chastised
for being who they are. Other countries not as advances as the U.S. or who have
different customs provide the women their with little respect as well. They have
specific duties
55. Psychological Conditioning and Theories of Behavior
Introduction In the field of psychology, behaviorism was one of the theoretical ideas
that changed quite drastically during the 20th century. Behaviorism tried to diminish
the emphasis on the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind, instead putting
forward a new way to look at human behavior that is empirical (observed, quantified,
and measured). Ivan Pavlov, for instance, was researching the digestive systems of
dogs and led him to the discovery of classical condition, a way to modify behaviors
using conditioned responses. Pavlov s views intrigued American John Watson, who
pushed the idea forward in up through the 1950s. Building on these theories, but
amending the model with the effects of punishment and reward, B.F. Skinner s work
had a revolutionary effect on behaviorism, now called operant conditioning(Shiraev,
2010, pp. 246 54).
Learning Theory Some say a logical reaction to Darwinism and the theory of natural
selection, some say the logical offshoot of 19th century social science, learning theory
became extremely importantly by the end of the 19th and beginning of the early 20th
centuries. One of the central aspects of the continual debate on learning theory is the
difference between empirical and theoretical learning. Empirical learning is a process
that compares items (objects) and finds observable characteristics and similarities.
Theoretical learning holds that the individual is supplied with environmental stimuli
(instruction, for instance) and a set of
