Bella Swan And Paul Lahote s Analysis
From the ashes of an obliterated relationship grew a completely unexpected friendship that left all
onlookers, especially the Pack, totally confused, for Bella Swan and Paul Lahote had found
common ground. Over the next several months, they could be seen in various places all over the
res, laughing, arguing or just talking. During this time, a more confident version of Bella came
forth, now unafraid to stand her ground or speak her mind, but more importantly, a much calmer
and focused Paul developed as he found someone who would listen to him with patience.
As it turned out, they learned that while Bella s past was not abusive, she did understand the
concept of a dysfunctional family due to her situation with an ultra artistic free spirited

Sororities Research Paper
Sorority life is more than the parties, frat boys and booze. It s about being apart of a community
and the traditions and rituals that have been around of hundreds of years. The average young
woman should consider joining a sorority because of what they stand for and the benefits that it
can bring you. Although sororities can by pricey and seem to have a bad reputation in the media,
they give young women values to live by, networking opportunities for the work force and a long
lasting sisterhood. Movies and the social media do not give sororities justice. They showcase
them as a bunch of mean, ditsy girls who want to party and get their M.R.S. degree but I can
personally say that sororities are much more than the stereotype that they are given by society and
portrayed in the media. Sororities give young women values that are based on ritual... Show more

When I was going through recruitment I had to really think about what I value and try to see
what sororities valued the same thing. You want to be in a chapter that supports you and will
help you grow as a person which is why a values based recruitment is so important. However
there are sororities out there who want recruit based on looks, what brand of clothing you wear
and how much money you have. But being a part of this organization is not about your family
status, the clothes you wear or what you look like: it is about the standards you were raised on
and the values that the chapter sets and are met everyday. When you join a sorority, you are
required to go through new member education where you learn more about your sorority s beliefs
and what they stand for. You are also educated on the traditions and rituals in which your chapter
were founded upon. I have only been in my sorority, Kappa Delta, for a couple of months and it has

During the Vietnam War Era
During the Vietnam War era, the United States and other democratic and free nations were fearful
of communism spreading to more parts of the world. They fought two world wars to protect
freedom, and to contain the communist movements. The foreign policy of the United States
evolved to that of a pre emptive type strike on the possibility of communism surfacing and
threatening free countries. Harry S. Truman began to theorize that if a communist nation took over
a non communist state, then neighboring countries would also fall. This became known as the
domino effect, and was the foreign policy that Dwight D. Eisenhower applied to countries in South
East Asia in the 1950s. The United Statesrole in Vietnamspanned from 1955 to... Show more content

There began riots and demonstrations, many of which were on the campuses of American
education institutions, such as the Kent State protests, ending in bloodshed on United States soil.
By 1967, less than half of the population agreed with the war and wanted American forces out of
the conflict. By 1968, the Tet Offensive occurred, in which dozens of populous South Vietnam
cities were severely attacked by Viet Cong and NVA offenses, even penetrating the American
Embassy. This shocked the American public, who were told victory was near. The disgust with the
war grew more day by day in the hearts of the American public. By this time, Richard Nixon entered
the office of president. Coupled with growing sentiment for a war some thought would never end,
Nixon began drawing down American troops on the suggestions of his advisors who said at best,
America could achieve an honorable settlement so that the South Vietnamese could survive. Nixon
withdrew troops down in a process called Vietnamization , which included training and providing
weapons and resources to the South Vietnamese to hold their ground with less and less American
troop intervention.
On March 29th, 1973 the last American military unit left Vietnam. Fighting in the country
continued, but American forces were no longer involved. With advisors feeling like it was a war
that would never see

Using Windows Uses A Flat Memory Model
Each process started on x86 version of Windows uses a flat memory model that ranges from
0x00000000 0xFFFFFFFF. The lower half of the memory, 0x00000000 0x7FFFFFFF, is
reserved for user space code. While the upper half of the memory, 0x80000000 0xFFFFFFFF, is
reserved for the kernel code. The Windows operating system also doesn t use the segmentation
(well actually it does, because it has to), but the segment table contains segment descriptors that
use the entire linear address space. There are four segments, two for user and two for kernel
mode, which describe the data and code for each of the modes. But all of the descriptors actually
contain the same linear address space. This means they all point to the same segment in
memory that is 0xFFFFFFFF bits long, proving that there is no segmentation on Windows
systems. Let s execute the dg 0 30 command to display the first 7 segment descriptors that can be
seen on the picture below: Notice that the 0008, 0010, 0018 and 0020 all start at base address
0x00000000 and end at address 0xFFFFFFFF: They represent the data and code segments of user
and kernel mode. This also proves that the segmentation is actually not used by the Windows
system. Therefore we can use the terms virtual address space and linear address space
interchangeably, because they are the same in this particular case. Because of this, when talking
about user space code being loaded in the virtual address space from 0x00000000 to 0x7FFFFFFF,

Does Machiavelli Apply To Our Current Society
Should we take lessons on Machiavelli? Does Machiavelli apply to our current society?
Machiavelli is about a prince who thinks there should be a balance between good and bad, He
talks about what seems an ideal leader will end up destroying the community because there is no
control or rules that apply to everyone and a system. His ideal of a leader is someone who is
hated but respected and who don t is not cruel and yet fair. Machiavelli reflect on today s society,
because we have set of rules and some what similar to the balance of good and bad, for instance,
the democrat and the republican are view as good and bad because democrat tends to focus on
people s right and the republican on economics and more on the conservative side. Without the two
we wouldn t have structure that apply to everyone. By looking at Machiavelli there is similarities
that apply to our current Society. Machiavelli relates on today s... Show more content on

In Machiavelli, he states, I know that everyone will admit that it would be highly praiseworthy
in a prince to possess all the above named qualities that are reputed good, but as they cannot all
be possessed or observed, human conditions not permitting of it, it is necessary that he should be
prudent enough to avoid the scandal of those vices which would lose him the state, and guard
himself if possible against those which will not lose it him, but if not able to, he can indulge
them with less scruple. Basically he saying that having many good qualities of what seems an
ideal king would not built a structure or a system that is functioning and should make wise
decision for what is best for his country. All of this shows Machiavelli views are the same as we
are in our society by created a system that is functioning. From this we learn we need to understand

Differences Between Grounded Theory And Narrative Analysis
Grounded theory Is a qualitative approach which calls for simultaneous data collection and analysis
to generate a theory during the research process. A theory emerges inductively through the
systematic data collection and analysis pertaining to a given phenomenon (Strauss Corbin, 1990).
This has two fundamental characteristics which include: theoretical sampling and constant
comparative analysis. A grounded theoryis generated by themes which emerge from the data during
analysis, capturing the essence of meaning drawn from varied contexts and situations
Theoretical sampling, this involves data collection for comparative analysis (Glaser Strauss 1967).
The collected data then gives insights and the analysis leads to further data collection and analysis.

The similarities between Grounded theory and Narrative analysis include the following,
Both approaches are based on naturalistic inquiry. They focus on how people behave in natural
settings while engaging in real life experiences. Both maintain inquiry stems from the naturalistic
paradigm that places itself opposite positivist paradigm.
Both approaches support flexibility in using multiple sources of data. This allows checking the
reliability and validation of a given phenomenon under investigation through triangulation. For
example use of interviews, document review and observation.
Both methods seek themes through coding process. The main of these two approaches is to capture
themes and subthemes which emerge in the process of data collection. All these are backed by
direct quotes from the participants in the study.
In both methods, texts to be coded into themes or categories follow qualitative analysis

Essay on Traditional Shinto Modern Japanese Business
The nation of Japan, even more so than other countries, has a long, long history behind it. It s a
country dating back as far as the B.C. Era, and that has experienced various powerful events that has
shaped the country since its birth. As with other nations, an important part of their past lies in their
religion. Before they were introduced to Buddhism and other outside religions, which had a large
impact on their society, the Japanese followed something known as Shinto. As the one religion that
can truly be called Japanese, it follows that its influences would still remain in the eyes of the
people and only aided by a traditionally xenophobic view of the world. Now, in modern Japan, the
role of fundamental religion has, for the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the key aspects of Shinto, and an aspect that made it somewhat difficult for me to study in a
more isolated context, is the flexibility of it. Unlike the Abrahamic religions, there is no strict
religious doctrine or meticulous set of rules that governs the practitioners. Instead, it s much more a
conceptual idea that carries with it various commonalities, specifically in terms of practices and a
very nature based system of deities (Religions of the World). Although, despite Japan s more
isolated society, they did share certain ideas with other Eastern religions, such as a focus on the
cosmos and harmony with nature and others (Return of the Gods). This led to an interesting
dynamic when other Asian religions and philosophies made their way into Japan. While there might
have been a certain amount of abrasiveness between Shinto and the others at first, the nature of the
religion allowed a unique blending that isn t to often scene between the unique (or semi unique)
religions of multiple countries. The three most prominent influences came from Chinese
Confucianism and Taoism, and Indian Buddhism. Buddhism in particular had the most influence
on their religion, becoming a near inseparable part of it (Religions of the World). This only
supports the notion that religion is more of an idea than what most of us in the west would
typically consider religion. Even before industrialization, Japanese people don t really consider
themselves

Benefit Of Ocean Exploration
Astonishingly, Did you know that we have better maps of the moon than we do of the ocean? It s
true! Scientists are working to make drones to explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a
developing science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology. Ocean
Exploration technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is
easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring the deep sea.
First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade.
In the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of
pounds of gear and photographing technology. Now, all you need is the drone and an ocean.
There are many things needed for scuba diving. Such as, oxygen tanks and diving gear that also
cost lots of money. With drones, ocean exploration will be much cheaper and faster than scuba
divers ever have been. (#2) According to a journalist, Kimberly Pierceall, from Military Times,
from her article Researchers Want To Use Drones For Ocean Floor Exploration She said that,
..They (Scientists) hope (12 research drones) will survey the deepest parts of the ocean faster
and cheaper than anyone has done before (Pierceall, 2017). This evidence proves that with new
developing ocean technology, exploring will be cheaper and faster than it ever has before. This is
a benefit to society because researchers will be able to explore vast amounts of the

Disinfectant Lab Report
Our science experiment was to try and figure out which disinfectant was the most effective on
killing bacteria. We chose seven different disinfectants and tested them on gram positive and
gram negative bacteria to see which would have the largest zone of inhibition after 23 hours in an
incubator at 28 degrees. This experiment taught me a lot of useful things for the future such as
what the most effective way of cleaning is. We decided to do this project because we wanted to
know if what people used to clean their houses was really doing the job.
For our science experiment, we tested household disinfectants against gram positive, and gram
negative bacteria. To begin with, one of the main differences between gram positive and gram
negative bacteria is the structural differences in their cell walls. Gram negative has an inner
membrane, a small layer of peptidoglycan (which is a substance that forms in most bacteria that
acts as a back bone to the cell wall giving it strength), then another membrane and the cell wall.
The peptidoglycan is sandwiched between two lipid (fat) layers. Gram positive bacteria have just
peptidoglycan but they have a lot of it making them stronger. Secondly, the gram in gram positive
and gram negative refers to how a bacterium reacts to a gram stain. To... Show more content on

My first point is that without the use of disinfectants, there would be germs absolutely everywhere.
From doorknobs to table counters, germs and endless bacteria would take over. Next, with all of
these germs out in the air and on all surfaces, infection and sickness would spread like wildfire.
Even though there are medication to cure infection and disease, we would need great amounts to
help many people. In conclusion, we would all be inevitably doomed. Infection and disease would
eventually take over without disinfectants leaving nothing. The use of disinfectants is extremely
important because without it everyone would be very

Comparing Charles Darwin s Idea Of Evolution And Natural...
Charles Darwin had arguably one of the best ideas anyone has ever had, the idea of evolution
and natural selection. Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected
through the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each
species of finch had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were
due to the varying types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different
beaks would help them open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s
idea of natural selectionand survival of the fittest. Darwin realized that the birds were able to
change (or evolve) over time, based on how well their beaks aided in feeding

The Importance Of Religious Freedom In America
Today, in modern America, religious freedom is a right for all people, but it was not always this
way. All the founders came from different religions, and found it important to have that freedom
to believe in whatever the individual wants. It forever changed the course of America. Due to one
diligent man, it has become a part of the American life of all citizens. This man believed strongly
in what he wanted, and was persecuted for his beliefs, and kicked out of many universities and
schools. He became a strong advocate, and the colony he established would change the tolerance of
all people. William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, established a colony based on the ideas of
religious liberty, equality, and self government which served as the foundation of America s
constitutional rights in a secular government wherein all citizens may freely practice their religious
belief, those ideas still impact the government s inaction concerning citizens religious practices.
According to William Penn, the key principles of religious toleration were religious liberty, equality,
and self government. According to William Penn: Faith Not Force, it claims Guided by his
conscience and their teachings, Penn became an outspoken supporter and a writer in search of
mutual respect for varying religions. He became a very active supporter of this right, and
continued to press for the respect or equality. Liberty is given to the people by allowing them an

student were asked if we would like to give Mr X a bed bath. I said yes. It was done under the
supervision of our SNE. Mr X had come out of surgery that day, he had a spinal operation and
was not allowed to sit up any further than what he was or be moved too much in either direction.

have spoken up and said to my SNE could we please have a bit more of a briefing on Mr X

Time In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Dreams engulf Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream throughout this play from when
Hippolyta and Theseus talk about their wedding to Puck s final soliloquy. Hippolyta tells
Theseus, Four nights will quickly dream the night away the time (Shakespeare 25). She uses
dreaming as a form of time measurement. At the end of the play, Puck says in his final soliloquy,
And this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream, gentles, do not reprehend: if you
pardon, we will mend (Shakespeare 133 134). He conveys that if he offends anyone in the
audience, he advises them to think of the play as a dream. The roles of dreams involve time,
emotions, and love. Some people believe that dreams carry substance; others do not. Aristotle

Shakespeare s plays typically involve two character s to one of his actors, so the solution [of
having more roles than actors] was doubling the roles (Smith 2). However, doubling was not
simply a practical necessity, but a representational technique that could also make connections and
contrasts between distinct characters or worlds (Smith 2). Some characters reverse roles in A
Midsummer Night s Dream: Theseus for Oberon, Hippolyta for Titania, and the rude mechanicals
for the fairy attendants. Everyone, it seems, in Dream is always someone else (Smith 2).
Displacement takes place when we transform the person or object we are really concerned about to
someone else (Freud 7). Displacement occurs everywhere in this play. An example of this behavior
occurs in Act I when Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius and not Lysander. Hermia s
opinion remains the opposite. Hermia is willing to enter a convent rather than marry her father s
choice, Demetrius, but the play does nothing to indicate why she should so strongly prefer
Lysander (Smith 6). Lysander and Demetrius appear interchangeable. At the end of the play, the
boundaries between Dream and reality seem blurry to the character as they awake from there

(Shakespeare Act V). The characters do so many things and fall asleep abundantly that they can not

This cultivated several protests throughout the United States at the time, which called for the
end of the Vietnam War for a variety of reasons. The main reason being that there was no direct
threat to the United States for them to send troops, and invest money in this war. The second
reason came after the United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images
from Vietnam, followed by reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There
were several accusations of war crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being
painted as the perpetrator. In the document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that,
the US Government directly violated multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam
War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn
suffering, many with traumatic experiences disturbing their peace alongside other mental
illnesses. This leads to the second question of ethics, the help and treatment provided to soldiers

The Graduate Essay
The Graduate Just one word ... plastics, the statement that alone can summarize Mike Nichols
1967 film, The Graduate. However, when Mr. McQuire tells the movie s main character, Ben
Braddock, that there is a great future in plastics he finds it irrelevant and escapes to be alone in his
room. However this comment surreptitiously creates a parallel to everything we see in Ben s life.
Whether it be the apprehensive relationship with his parents, an alienated affair with Mrs. Robinson,
or the near unsuccessful pursuit in finding the man within, the film conveys a strong sense of how
fear and self doubt can lead to the ultimate downfall in a person. Over zealous, and a tendency to

We see the same act of unconfident behavior again when Benjamin is reserving a hotel room for
the two of them. Undoubtedly paranoid, Ben manufactures an extravagant lie to hide his personal
misconduct after the bell hop, referring to business matters, asks if [he] is here for an affair.
However, after many awkward instances and Mrs. Robinson s continued gratuitous behavior, Ben
foolishly leaps into the affair. After countless secret meets Ben begins to realize that the
relationship is cold and emotionally empty, counter the initial promising thoughts of being with
an older woman. This due to Mrs. Robinson s abilities to belittle Ben and get what she wants,
regardless his opinions. Yet because the fling had no positive affect to his self confidence, when
Ben try s to obtain more from the affair he finds himself in awkward and uncomfortable
conversations that Mrs. Robinson has no interest in discussing with him. In one case Ben catch s

A. Colonialism in North America
England s desire for economic gain and religious freedom sparked the beginning of their interest in
colonialism in America (Gouch, LeGuin, Walton, 1998). While some settlers came to America in
search of gold or other riches, the Puritans that settled the Massachusetts Bay Colony came to
escape religious persecution and have freedom to worship as they desired. In 1630, over a
thousand Puritans arrived, being led by a lawyer named John Winthrop. All English settlers were
required to set up charter system governments. This system allowed the settlers to organize ... Show

The British, unwilling to give up their rule, even went as far as to demand that Colonist pay for the
protection of the British Army and Navy. The Colonist felt since they had no representation in the
British parliament, they owed nothing. When no agreement could be reached a revolution was
inevitable (Joes, 1996).
Another cause of the American Revolution was the desire of the colonists to have freedom of
religion and the determination of England that the colonist must remain true to the Church of
England. Puritans, a religious group who came to the colonies seeking freedom of religion, wanted
to remain a part of the Church of England, but develop their own style of worship. Another more
radical religious group, Separatists, wanted a complete break from the Church of England. The goal
of both of both the Puritans and the Separatists was to have the freedom to express religious beliefs
without fear of persecution by the church or government. England remained firm that the colonist
must follow the practice of the Church of England with no variation ( Annenberg Learner, 2013).

The Destruction Of Food Production
The prehistoric ancestors of humanity spent most of their time in the pursuit of food. Civilization
sprung up as food harvesting and farming became more optimized and specialized. The
procurement of food declined as the greatest usage of human time. The efficiency of food
production has allowed humanity to thrive on the different industrial and technological revolutions,
and create a better standard of living for many people. Lizzie Widdicombe in the End of Foodwrites
about Soylent, a overall food substitute that aims to replace regular food. According to its creator,
Soylent has a lower cost, and is more efficient than regular food products and aims to progressive
the advancement of food efficiency started by our ancestors. This new product and the market
category it represents has the potential to eradicate hunger, and the time usage in producing and
prepping food. Nevertheless, Soylent and its counterparts can have potentially catastrophic
consequences for humanity. The quest for food, is one of the most important defining
characteristics of life and nature. Food has thus shaped much of human history. The ancient
civilization of Mesopotamia for example was fueled by the first agricultural revolution which
introduced innovations in food production such as the domestication of plants and animals. The
sedentary living that most people enjoy today is a benefit of the greater efficiencies created by the
first agricultural revolution. While the first agricultural

Question Two. Ed Organization Task Functions Are A Set
Question two
ED organization task functions are a set of strategies needed to achieve short and long term goals.
Generally, task functions include identifying community problems, providing technical and

The book advised analyzing employment data with a location quotient, a ratio of industries
represented locally to one of a reference economy. This is a valuable equation for determining
industry growth at a fixed period. When the OCOG chose target industries for Miami, the
specialized index would have assisted analysts in predicting future economic changes and which
sectors will provide the most employment opportunities across all skill and income levels. As
discussed in the Cincinnati, Ohio Cluster Case study, after the LQ, analysts would determine the

sector and comparison with national trends would predict areas with healthy economies and those
expected to grow. Furthermore, cluster identification uses input/output analysis and local and
national reports to unmask growing industries and relate dependency or competitiveness between
businesses while identifying industries statistically inclined to grow.

frequently offer specials and have other promotional items on their pages. This engages their

account that is seldom used. This lack of social media utilization may be to blame for Deborah
Ann s less than great customer acquisition rate. Deborah Ann s should have an account on both
Instagram and Twitter. Food companies do best on Instagram because their customers become
appetized after seeing pictures of appealing food. Mike could post pictures of fresh made fudge
and candy to entice people to stop by. On a hot summer day, he could post a picture of his ice

Such posts would substantially increase sales at Deborah Ann s Sweet Shoppe.

how successful blacks were in baseball from 1981 1997. Blacks such as Tony Gwynn, Tim
Raines, and Gary Sheffield were winning National League Batting Titles 16 out of those 17 years.
From 1998 2004, only one black player has won the batting title. As a huge baseball fan, I never

Coleman was a big reason why the RBI program, which stands for Reviving Baseball in the Inner

Analysis Of Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried ...

American Literature
Essay #3

Male love in The Things They Carried
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is a fictional book consisting of different stories from
Vietnam war. Tim O Brien was trying to convey the real perspectives of the war to his readers by
telling facts and stories through his personal memories he got from the war, and how things effect
them and their life after the war. In order to express the tension in the war, O Brien depicts the
experience of the soldiers by showing the different ways of expression of male love from these
soldiers. Although there are many forms of friendship, some of which may vary from place to
place, the friendship in the war is the most unique one. As the definition of Friendship, Friendship
is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. The bond between soldiers is more
intense and real, and this is also the message that Tim O Brien shows in his book by using
metaphor, details depicting and technique of repetition.
Tim O Brien uses metaphor of photos to express the life before, tie all soldiers together, and thus
show the friendship of them. The Thing They Carried is not only describing the life in the Vietnam
war, but is more about the things that they carried, and the emotions and stories behind these things.
All soldiers bring some small items, like comic books and hunting hatchets, which contain their
memory from the past, to the war. My girl. What about her? The picture, it was

Role of Symbolism Essay
Role of symbolism In the poem, the purpose of symbolism is using an object or reference to
describe a deeper meaning to a story. The poem Music of Spheres by displayes that how to use
symbolism to describe an object with deeper meaning. This poem is written by Jean Follain who
was a French author, poet and corporate lawyer. The reason why I selected this poem, is because
Jean Follain only used a few sentences to reflect its deep symbolic meaning of this poem.
Language makes us human. It helps us to understand our everyday experience and ideas. It will

If the root doesn t get enough nutrients, the tree will dry out and eventually die. Human is just
like a tree, water acts as the hope of human. His heart needs hope as a source of energy. He lost

walking on a icy road with hopeless future and frozen heart. Furthermore, Jean Follain says in his

environment. iron keys were jingling has its unique symbolic meaning, it means the man s
harsh life still continues, and his heart becomes cold and frozen. The jingling stands for heart
beats of the man. Iron keys conveys a collective sense to the reader which the iron key is cold.
The man seems like really sad and almost ready to give up on his life. In the next sentence of his
poem, he says and with his pointed shoe absent mindedly, he kicked the cylinder of an old can.
(Line 3 5) Even though we sometimes lose our direction to the destination or completely lost of
confidence, we will still keep thinking what happened in the past. Jean Follain used an object to
describe a deeper meaning to the reader. We can see from these sentences, the man s psychological
environment is so disordered. He felt that his heart was missing something, that there was

Examples Of Betrayal In The Great Gatsby

can be commonly seen in people. A character in Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Jay, betrays

corner and focus my attention intently on one individual toy. This is how playtime usually went for
me. I studied the physics and used my senses to gather information about the toy.
After that little bit of time, it would be time for Sunday school over at the parsonage. There the
pastor s wife, with her short white hair would have worksheets o plenty for us to fill out as she
taught the lesson. We d learn about Adam and Eve, Noah, David, Jonah, Jesus, Paul...all the typical
Biblical characters you d imagine. Of course they were a bit sanitized to get rid of the messiness
that was portrayed in the Bible due to our age, but it was mostly the same message. Though
sometimes, we d get lucky and get to watch a VHS of Veggietales or Superbook!
Afterwords, since most of the time my parents were finishing up in Bible study, I d go lay on the
grass in front of the church and gaze up into the clouds. I d try to come up with shapes that were

Essay on The Energy Star Home
The Energy Star Home
The Energy Star label is awarded to products that promote energy efficiency. New homes have been
included in the Energy Star Program. Energy Star products must be at least 30% more energy
efficient than current regulations demand. The same energy requirements apply to the Energy Star
Home as well. Such areas on a home that are targeted for improvement include: framing, ducts,
windows, insulation, and HVAC. Although, the energy star program includes appliances and
electronics, when applying the program to a home, only structural improvements are taken into
consideration. It is possible for a home to receive an Energy Star Label but at the same time be
filled with non energy star appliances. Older homes can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New energy star homes will have a label on the breaker box stating that the home has undergone
a third party evaluation. This evaluation ensures that the home either meets or exceeds energy
star requirements. The Home Energy Rating System, or HERS, scoring is how a home is
ranked based on energy efficiency. The HERS works on a 100 point system, with a score of 80
for a house that meets the minimum requirements of the Model Energy Code. Each point on the
HERS scale corresponds to a 5% increase in efficiency meaning that a minimum score of 86 is
needed for a home to receive an energy star label.
There is another possibility for builders known as the Builder Option Packages, or BOPs. For the
purpose of BOPs, the US has been divided into 19 climate zones. Each climate zone has
construction specifications that include performance levels for the thermal envelope, insulation,
windows, orientation, HVAC systems, and water heating efficiency. A home built to BOP specs is
not rated by the HERS system but still is subject to third party verification. BOP homes either pass
or fail as energy star homes.
The first consideration when building an energy efficient house is tight construction. There are
hundreds of holes that penetrate the outside of a house resulting from framing and holes drilled for
wiring, plumbing, and ducts. By framing the house more carefully and tightly, there will be fewer

Did Lee Harvey Oswald s History Predispose Him To Kill...
Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK
A Plan Of Investigation
This investigation will answer the question: To what extent did Lee Harvey Oswald s history
predispose him to kill John F. Kennedy? To determine the extent to which childhood and previous
jobs influenced Oswald to assassinate the President, the scope of the investigation will focus on
Lee Harvey Oswald and his relationships with political groups. It will also examine Oswald s youth
and the actions of previous life events. Only secondary sources about the assassination will be used
in this examination.
B Summary Of Evidence
Born October 18, 1939, Lee Harvey Oswald was born, just two months after the death of his father
(Waggoner 27). His youth was spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the purpose of the reading
is to present evidence surrounding the JFK assassination because it has been taken over by
conspiracy theories which will continue unless someone makes the facts of the situation known, in
which case Bugliosi did so in that the conspiracy thoughts can be put to rest. This book s limitations
include the fact that since there is mention about conspiracy and some analytical thought in addition
to the cold, hard facts, one must be careful to pull out only the facts, so that they themselves can
analyze the presented information.
The origin of James McKinley s book was written just a little more than ten years after JFK s
assassination. It is a book compiled of the accounts of 12 famous political figures in American
History. In Assassination in America, the purpose of the reading is to examine the complex
circumstances surrounding the assassination by recreating the background and drama
encompassing the murder. The value of Assassination in America is that it was written just ten
years after Kennedy s assassination, so one is able to recall details more precisely, giving a more
accurate account than a book written fifty years after the event. The limitations of McKinley s book
include the fact that his book not only includes details about Kennedy s assassination, but also the
accounts of other well known assassinations in our history.

History Of Parasomnia
Steven Knight is a 27 year old male who has a long history of parasomnia. Since the age of 13
Stevens parents had noticed he had begun both sleep walking and sleep talking. Mr. Knight was
engaged to be married on April 26, 2014 to his 26 year old wife to be Kelly Love. The day
unfortunately never arrived because the day before his wedding, he murdered his fiancГ©. Miss
Love had spoken to Mr. Knights mother two weeks before the wedding, stating that she was
noticing that his somnambulism and somniloquy were starting to occur more frequently. When
asked what Mr. Knightwas saying during his sleep talking, Miss Love stated that it was mostly
nonsense, but he would mention the name of her best friend Heather Lee. She also told Mrs.
Knight that Steven... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his wedding. At around 3:15 AM, it is seen that Mr. Knight begins yelling, and throwing around
items in their living room. Though the rooms do have recording devices, there is no audio
equipment installed that could be provided as evidence. At 3:16 AM Miss Love is seen entering
the living room running towards Mr. Knight, in attempts to calm him down. It is then seen that
Mr. Knight begins yelling at Miss Love, and acting violently towards her. Miss Love is soon
thrown on the floor, and drug into the bedroom where no cameras are present. The following
morning at 7:23 AM, a phone call is received to 911 operators from a frantic Mr. Knight, stating
that his fiancГ© had been murdered in the middle of the night. Police arrived on the scene to
discover signs of struggle in the living room. Once entering the couples room, a bloody knife was
discovered next to Miss Loves dead body. It was not until police went through Mr. Knights
computer that they found emails between him and Miss Lee showing a romantic relationship that
had started in approximately 2013. In emails sent to Mr. Knight months before the wedding, it
was obvious that Miss. Lee was becoming nervous about their relationship. This is when it is
believed that Mr. nights parasomnias began to worsen. Miss Lee had begun to express feelings of
guilt to Mr. Knight about their relationship in the emails days before the wedding and wanted to

The Effects Of Physical Abuse On Children
A general definition of physical abuse is a non accidental injury of a child inflicted by a
caregiver. Children who are abused can experience injuries ranging from bruises, fractures and
broken bones, and in some cases, even death. There s an estimated three million children are
abused or neglected every day in the United States (Unger Luca, 2014). Children are more likely
to be physically abused if their parents are single, young parents, living in poverty, parents were
also abused as children, families have alcohol or drug abuse problems, and there is domestic
violencehappening at home (Lazenbatt Freeman, 2006). Many children who experience physical
abuseexperience emotional abuse and neglect as well.
The short term impact of childhood abuse are cognitive and intellectual deficits, deficits in social
skills, PTSD and other mental disorders, anxiety, suicidal behavior, heightened aggression, and
risk taking behavior. Long term impacts include difficulty with trust, low self esteem, anxiety,
anger, internalized aggression, depression, interpersonal difficulties, and substance abuse (Keene
Epps, 2016). These individuals also struggle with identifying and regulating their emotions. It is
very common for victims of childhood physical abuse to feel shame and to experience it more
often than people who did not experience abuse (Keene Epps). A study by Keene and Epps (2016)
found individuals who experienced childhood physical abuse are more likely to report

Jealousy By William Shakespeare s Proverbs
In Proverbs 6:34 it is written, For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he
takes revenge. Jealousy is an emotion that often makes each of us act and react in a bad way.
Some pout, some stomp the ground and shake their fist and still others yell and scream. Some
people do all of these things at the same time. Revenge is an act, based on an emotion. But is it
formed from the same emotion as jealousy? Or is jealous and revenge separate in formation and
emotion? Many people find revenge to be an extension of jealousy, anger, envy, etc. and are
therefore similar in both formation and emotion. I believe jealousy and revenge are separate
emotions yet similar in formation. Jealousy is an emotion but revenge puts that emotion into
action. Jealousy is an emotion tinged with feelings like anger, insecurity, fear, and resentment.
(ppedia). Jealousy isn t something we can control most of the time. It is a natural, built in emotion
that we all experience at some point. Most of the time jealousy comes from self pity and
insecurity. Hands down, insecurity is the most common source of jealousy writes Dr. Seth Meyers
in Psychology Today. Curbing our jealousy can be difficult, but it is necessary if we want to move
forward and have healthy relationships. Uncontrolled jealousy often causes people to do things they
wouldn t normally do. Small, self perceived insults add fuel to flame our already heightened
emotions. This uncontrolled emotion can lead to

The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards
For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a
negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across
the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are
traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local
currency, your credit cardcompany calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts
the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency
situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that
you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen
expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly
installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly
making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score
which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit
card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a
percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each
dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases
(Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card

Media Effects On Children And Adolescents
The world that we lived in is all surrounding with media, people use the media every day and
everything; such as watching television, using the computer, and talking on the phone. On the
media we could learn and find out the information that we need. And we can also share our
personal information on the media. Media gives us a lot of convenient in our life, but there are
also some negative impacts. Media has a lot of negative impacts which it could be affected on
children and adolescents. The article Media and Risky Behaviors by Escobar Chaves is discussed
about the media effects that cause the risky behavior of the adolescents. In the article there are five
types of teenager health risk behaviors identified by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC): obesity, smoking, drinking, sexual risk taking, and violent. Escobar also
mention those risk behaviors in his article. Adolescents and children who spend more time on
watching television and movie will more likely to be overweight. Study shows that most people
increase their energy intake when they were watching television and movie. But also, long period
of sitting time is another reason that may cause the obesity. Furthermore, when people are
watching television and movies, they will stay in one position for a long period of time. Children
and adolescents who are overweight are more likely to become overweight when they were adult.
Also poor eating habit will also cause obesity; for example, when watching

some kind of coach. The general thought that comes to mind when discussing coaching is athletic
coaches, but coaching has a much broader spectrum. The major difference between a coach and
other leaders is commitment. Coaches help build plans for success for their followers and then
follow their progress until the goal is completed. In my life, I use coachingoften with my younger
siblings and still receive coaching from my older brothers. It is important to me to check in with
my little brother about school, sports, and his goals. Having gone through it before, I can offer

Should The Government Put A Cap On Contingency Fees
Contingency fees are fixed as a percentage, usually between 25 and 40 percent of a client s
recovery in certain types of lawsuits such as car accidents, work accidents or personal injury
lawsuits (2012). Contingency fees are set as percentage of the damages awarded to the client, an
attorney receive his fees only if the case is won. Why I think that the government should put a cap
on contingency fees at 20 percent of the award: I think that the government should put a 20 percent
cap on contingency fees involving automobile accidents and personal injury lawsuits, because the
cases are drawn out for at least 1 year, then when the client receives their settlement the money has
to go toward hospital bills, legal fees and other personal expenses.

Stonewall Uprising Pros And Cons
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people remained silent and unseen in American culture
until after the Second World War. During the mid 1950s, there was a rise in discrimination against
the people of the LGBT community. LGBT individuals were seen as a threat to the American way
so as that belief grew so did the harassment. Imagine living in a world that tells you what you can
and cannot do. Many people of the LGBT+ community have been harassed or worse based on their
sexual orientation, which goes against Article two of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Due to the prejudice against the LGBT+ community many have risen up to protest and voice their
opinion against their oppressor. Society should be unbiased about sexual orientation.... Show more

Men in drag could be arrested due to the 1845 statute that made it a crime to masquerade. Drag
queens were forced to wear three articles of clothing that was associated with their gender or they
would be arrested. In 1969, the blatant harassment of the LGBT led to an uprising called
Stonewall. The Stonewall uprising was a series of violent demonstration by the gay community
against a police raid that occurred earlier. Stonewall spurred the once hidden gay community to
fight back against their oppressors. After the uprising, many lesbian and gay individuals joined
together in protest, which spread all over the country. Subsequently a year later it lead to the
first gay pride parade in US history. Recently there has been some concern over House bill 242
in Texas. Konni Burton, a Republican senator, proposed the bill that parents have the right to all
records and information related to their child (Dart). Some believe that the bill will potentially
force teachers to reveal to parents that their child is gay. Critics of the bill believe that it will

Schlosser goes on to denote the story of Kenny Dobbins, an employee of Monfort for almost

Kenny was a strong man, and thought he could handle the tough work that his job required.
During an accident at work, Kenny was thrown onto the metal teeth of a conveyer belt. Kenny

The Republicans Fight For Economic Justice And Security
Ideologies are referred as a set of ideas and values that provides a base for organised political
action. They justify and influence the different theories of society and human nature. Ideologies
have a big impact on policy making. Democratic and Republican parties differ on their ideologies
and values, therefore, impacting policy formulation. Democrats fight for economic justice and
security in the U.S. and global economies. For example, fairness is the core principle for the
Congressional progressive caucus. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the
values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privilege. They want to
invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re building
America s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving
homeland security. They also want to ensure working families can live above the poverty line and
with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage. Whereas the Republicans believe they
shouldn t be spending money on the homeless. Conservatives believe that giving away handouts
decreases incentives to work and that, generally, welfare is the enemy of freedom. As a result, The
House bill was an attempt to end the Housing Trust Fund. Housing is a human right and people

Bertha Pappenheim
Bertha Pappenheim is perhaps most famous for Josef Breuer s study of (and writing about) her,
but his treatment lasted only a couple of years she herself spent nearly thirteen years, between
1882 and 1895, actively attempting to reconstruct herself. The aim of this reconstruction was to
grow not only from her illness but also from her previous life as a bourgeois homemaker, from
the healthy aspects of her grief for her father, and (perhaps most notably) from her immense
emotional reliance on Breuer himself. In fact, far more effectively than when working with Breuer,
Pappenheim s own agency and motivation helped her to move successfully from her previous
private fantasies into a new context of major political and social change. It is possible to examine
Pappenheim s later life in terms of her illness and subsequent treatment and indeed, her experience
with illness and her relationship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although his diagnoses are somewhat suspect, Breuer gave her validation, worldly experience, and
ultimately the place from which she began her self reconstruction. She did most of the
reconstruction on her own choosing to end her relationship with Breuer, withdrawing from the
narcotics to which she became addicted, writing and publishing her work, moving away from
Vienna to Frankfurt, and eventually taking a job. However, though Breuer s treatment itself may
not have had as large an influence on her later life as might be expected, the timing of her illness
impacted quite a lot. The major peculiarities that Pappenheim experienced were to do with her
living situation she was precluded from marrying, for example, and lived with her mother.
Additionally, her tendency to tell stories to Breuer may have a connection to her later successes as a

Essay on Atheism, the Hidden Prejudice
Atheism, the Hidden Prejudice Prejudice has plagued our society since its conception. There have
been great strides taken in educating people to the ignorance of racism, hatred, and bigotry. The
majority people feel that it is wrong to judge someone based on their race, sexual preference, or
sex. Mention to people that you do not believe in a god, and you will often find hate filled stares,
ignorant remarks, and judgments made. To better understand this, we will discuss the following in
this paper: the history of Atheism, religious freedom in the United States, examples of religious
prejudice, and some reasoning why religious discrimination occurs. Many people feel that Atheism

It also states that no law should be made against religious establishments, practices, or beliefs. It is
probably not a coincidence that this is the first amendment to the Constitution. The founding fathers
new the importance of religious tolerance and the separation of church and state. They did not want
the new America to become a religious government, like the English monarchy. Every person
wants their rights protected and upheld; unfortunately, this is not occurring for those of non
secular beliefs. Race, sexual preference, and religious beliefs are the most common forms of
prejudice. As a society we have made great progress against racial and sexual bigotry. What
seems to be without thought, religious discriminations have been left by the wayside. From
1930 to 2007, polls conducted by the Gallup Organization asked people if they would vote for
the best qualified person for president who happened to be X . X represented Atheist, Baptist,
Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Black, Hispanic, homosexual, married 3 times, and 72 years of age.
Out of all the categories Atheist showed the least amount of improvement. The 2007 results show
that only 45% would have voted yes. That is only a 5% increase from 1978 and a 4% decrease
from 1999. In 1978, homosexuals had the lowest at 26%, but in 2007 55% said they would vote
yes for a homosexual candidate (Robinson). This study shows that there have been vast
improvements in all areas of discrimination except

  • 2. Bella Swan And Paul Lahote s Analysis From the ashes of an obliterated relationship grew a completely unexpected friendship that left all onlookers, especially the Pack, totally confused, for Bella Swan and Paul Lahote had found common ground. Over the next several months, they could be seen in various places all over the res, laughing, arguing or just talking. During this time, a more confident version of Bella came forth, now unafraid to stand her ground or speak her mind, but more importantly, a much calmer and focused Paul developed as he found someone who would listen to him with patience. • 3. Sororities Research Paper Sorority life is more than the parties, frat boys and booze. It s about being apart of a community and the traditions and rituals that have been around of hundreds of years. The average young woman should consider joining a sorority because of what they stand for and the benefits that it can bring you. Although sororities can by pricey and seem to have a bad reputation in the media, they give young women values to live by, networking opportunities for the work force and a long lasting sisterhood. Movies and the social media do not give sororities justice. They showcase them as a bunch of mean, ditsy girls who want to party and get their M.R.S. degree but I can personally say that sororities are much more than the stereotype that they are given by society and portrayed in the media. Sororities give young women values that are based on ritual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You want to be in a chapter that supports you and will help you grow as a person which is why a values based recruitment is so important. However there are sororities out there who want recruit based on looks, what brand of clothing you wear and how much money you have. But being a part of this organization is not about your family status, the clothes you wear or what you look like: it is about the standards you were raised on and the values that the chapter sets and are met everyday. When you join a sorority, you are required to go through new member education where you learn more about your sorority s beliefs and what they stand for. You are also educated on the traditions and rituals in which your chapter were founded upon. I have only been in my sorority, Kappa Delta, for a couple of months and it has already played a ... • 4. During the Vietnam War Era During the Vietnam War era, the United States and other democratic and free nations were fearful of communism spreading to more parts of the world. They fought two world wars to protect freedom, and to contain the communist movements. The foreign policy of the United States evolved to that of a pre emptive type strike on the possibility of communism surfacing and threatening free countries. Harry S. Truman began to theorize that if a communist nation took over a non communist state, then neighboring countries would also fall. This became known as the domino effect, and was the foreign policy that Dwight D. Eisenhower applied to countries in South East Asia in the 1950s. The United Statesrole in Vietnamspanned from 1955 to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There began riots and demonstrations, many of which were on the campuses of American education institutions, such as the Kent State protests, ending in bloodshed on United States soil. By 1967, less than half of the population agreed with the war and wanted American forces out of the conflict. By 1968, the Tet Offensive occurred, in which dozens of populous South Vietnam cities were severely attacked by Viet Cong and NVA offenses, even penetrating the American Embassy. This shocked the American public, who were told victory was near. The disgust with the war grew more day by day in the hearts of the American public. By this time, Richard Nixon entered the office of president. Coupled with growing sentiment for a war some thought would never end, Nixon began drawing down American troops on the suggestions of his advisors who said at best, America could achieve an honorable settlement so that the South Vietnamese could survive. Nixon withdrew troops down in a process called Vietnamization , which included training and providing weapons and resources to the South Vietnamese to hold their ground with less and less American troop intervention. On March 29th, 1973 the last American military unit left Vietnam. Fighting in the country continued, but American forces were no longer involved. • 7. Using Windows Uses A Flat Memory Model Each process started on x86 version of Windows uses a flat memory model that ranges from 0x00000000 0xFFFFFFFF. The lower half of the memory, 0x00000000 0x7FFFFFFF, is reserved for user space code. While the upper half of the memory, 0x80000000 0xFFFFFFFF, is reserved for the kernel code. The Windows operating system also doesn t use the segmentation (well actually it does, because it has to), but the segment table contains segment descriptors that use the entire linear address space. There are four segments, two for user and two for kernel mode, which describe the data and code for each of the modes. But all of the descriptors actually contain the same linear address space. This means they all point to the same segment in memory that is 0xFFFFFFFF bits long, proving that there is no segmentation on Windows systems. Let s execute the dg 0 30 command to display the first 7 segment descriptors that can be seen on the picture below: Notice that the 0008, 0010, 0018 and 0020 all start at base address 0x00000000 and end at address 0xFFFFFFFF: They represent the data and code segments of user and kernel mode. This also proves that the segmentation is actually not used by the Windows system. Therefore we can use the terms virtual address space and linear address space interchangeably, because they are the same in this particular case. Because of this, when talking about user space code being loaded in the virtual address space from 0x00000000 to 0x7FFFFFFF, we re ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Machiavelli is about a prince who thinks there should be a balance between good and bad, He talks about what seems an ideal leader will end up destroying the community because there is no control or rules that apply to everyone and a system. His ideal of a leader is someone who is hated but respected and who don t is not cruel and yet fair. • 9. Differences Between Grounded Theory And Narrative Analysis Grounded theory Is a qualitative approach which calls for simultaneous data collection and analysis to generate a theory during the research process. A theory emerges inductively through the systematic data collection and analysis pertaining to a given phenomenon (Strauss Corbin, 1990). This has two fundamental characteristics which include: theoretical sampling and constant comparative analysis. A grounded theoryis generated by themes which emerge from the data during analysis, capturing the essence of meaning drawn from varied contexts and situations Theoretical sampling, this involves data collection for comparative analysis (Glaser Strauss 1967). The collected data then gives insights and the analysis leads to further data collection and analysis. Constant comparative analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Essay on Traditional Shinto Modern Japanese Business The nation of Japan, even more so than other countries, has a long, long history behind it. It s a country dating back as far as the B.C. Era, and that has experienced various powerful events that has shaped the country since its birth. As with other nations, an important part of their past lies in their religion. Before they were introduced to Buddhism and other outside religions, which had a large impact on their society, the Japanese followed something known as Shinto. As the one religion that can truly be called Japanese, it follows that its influences would still remain in the eyes of the people and only aided by a traditionally xenophobic view of the world. Now, in modern Japan, the role of fundamental religion has, for the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the key aspects of Shinto, and an aspect that made it somewhat difficult for me to study in a more isolated context, is the flexibility of it. Unlike the Abrahamic religions, there is no strict religious doctrine or meticulous set of rules that governs the practitioners. Instead, it s much more a conceptual idea that carries with it various commonalities, specifically in terms of practices and a very nature based system of deities (Religions of the World). Although, despite Japan s more isolated society, they did share certain ideas with other Eastern religions, such as a focus on the cosmos and harmony with nature and others (Return of the Gods). This led to an interesting dynamic when other Asian religions and philosophies made their way into Japan. While there might have been a certain amount of abrasiveness between Shinto and the others at first, the nature of the religion allowed a unique blending that isn t to often scene between the unique (or semi unique) religions of multiple countries. The three most prominent influences came from Chinese Confucianism and Taoism, and Indian Buddhism. Buddhism in particular had the most influence on their religion, becoming a near inseparable part of it (Religions of the World). This only supports the notion that religion is more of an idea than what most of us in the west would typically consider religion. Ocean Exploration technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring the deep sea. First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade. In the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds of gear and photographing technology. Now, all you need is the drone and an ocean. There are many things needed for scuba diving. Such as, oxygen tanks and diving gear that also cost lots of money. We chose seven different disinfectants and tested them on gram positive and gram negative bacteria to see which would have the largest zone of inhibition after 23 hours in an incubator at 28 degrees. This experiment taught me a lot of useful things for the future such as what the most effective way of cleaning is. We decided to do this project because we wanted to know if what people used to clean their houses was really doing the job. For our science experiment, we tested household disinfectants against gram positive, and gram negative bacteria. To begin with, one of the main differences between gram positive and gram negative bacteria is the structural differences in their cell walls. Gram negative has an inner membrane, a small layer of peptidoglycan (which is a substance that forms in most bacteria that acts as a back bone to the cell wall giving it strength), then another membrane and the cell wall. The peptidoglycan is sandwiched between two lipid (fat) layers. Gram positive bacteria have just peptidoglycan but they have a lot of it making them stronger. Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected through the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each species of finch had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were due to the varying types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different beaks would help them open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s idea of natural selectionand survival of the fittest. Some characters reverse roles in A Midsummer Night s Dream: Theseus for Oberon, Hippolyta for Titania, and the rude mechanicals for the fairy attendants. Everyone, it seems, in Dream is always someone else (Smith 2). Displacement takes place when we transform the person or object we are really concerned about to someone else (Freud 7). The second reason came after the United States engaged in war, and the public was beginning to see images from Vietnam, followed by reports of the civilian death tolls caused by the U.S. military. There were several accusations of war crimes within the Vietnam War, and the U.S. military was being painted as the perpetrator. In the document titled The Ethics of the Vietnam War it was stated that, the US Government directly violated multiple principles of Just War theory during the Vietnam War (Ewing, 3). It turned into a domino effect where soldiers were returning home and in turn suffering, many with traumatic experiences disturbing their peace alongside other mental illnesses. This leads to the second question of ethics, the help and treatment provided to soldiers upon returning home, or better yet the lack of help. While some settlers came to America in search of gold or other riches, the Puritans that settled the Massachusetts Bay Colony came to escape religious persecution and have freedom to worship as they desired. The British, unwilling to give up their rule, even went as far as to demand that Colonist pay for the protection of the British Army and Navy. The Colonist felt since they had no representation in the British parliament, they owed nothing. When no agreement could be reached a revolution was inevitable (Joes, 1996). Another cause of the American Revolution was the desire of the colonists to have freedom of religion and the determination of England that the colonist must remain true to the Church of England. Puritans, a religious group who came to the colonies seeking freedom of religion, wanted to remain a part of the Church of England, but develop their own style of worship. Another more radical religious group, Separatists, wanted a complete break from the Church of England. The goal of both of both the Puritans and the Separatists was to have the freedom to express religious beliefs without fear of persecution by the church or government. Civilization sprung up as food harvesting and farming became more optimized and specialized. The procurement of food declined as the greatest usage of human time. The efficiency of food production has allowed humanity to thrive on the different industrial and technological revolutions, and create a better standard of living for many people. Lizzie Widdicombe in the End of Foodwrites about Soylent, a overall food substitute that aims to replace regular food. According to its creator, Soylent has a lower cost, and is more efficient than regular food products and aims to progressive the advancement of food efficiency started by our ancestors. This new product and the market category it represents has the potential to eradicate hunger, and the time usage in producing and prepping food. Nevertheless, Soylent and its counterparts can have potentially catastrophic consequences for humanity. The quest for food, is one of the most important defining characteristics of life and nature. Food has thus shaped much of human history. The ancient civilization of Mesopotamia for example was fueled by the first agricultural revolution which introduced innovations in food production such as the domestication of plants and animals. The sedentary living that most people enjoy today is a benefit of the greater efficiencies created by the first agricultural revolution. While the first agricultural ... Xizhao Liu(Amber) American Literature Essay #3 Nov. 11, 2016 Male love in The Things They Carried The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is a fictional book consisting of different stories from Vietnam war. Tim O Brien was trying to convey the real perspectives of the war to his readers by telling facts and stories through his personal memories he got from the war, and how things effect them and their life after the war. In order to express the tension in the war, O Brien depicts the experience of the soldiers by showing the different ways of expression of male love from these soldiers. Although there are many forms of friendship, some of which may vary from place to place, the friendship in the war is the most unique one. As the definition of Friendship, Friendship is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. The bond between soldiers is more intense and real, and this is also the message that Tim O Brien shows in his book by using metaphor, details depicting and technique of repetition. Tim O Brien uses metaphor of photos to express the life before, tie all soldiers together, and thus show the friendship of them. The Thing They Carried is not only describing the life in the Vietnam war, but is more about the things that they carried, and the emotions and stories behind these things. Some people do all of these things at the same time. Revenge is an act, based on an emotion. But is it formed from the same emotion as jealousy? Or is jealous and revenge separate in formation and emotion? Many people find revenge to be an extension of jealousy, anger, envy, etc. and are therefore similar in both formation and emotion. • 42. The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local currency, your credit cardcompany calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases (Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Should The Government Put A Cap On Contingency Fees Contingency fees are fixed as a percentage, usually between 25 and 40 percent of a client s recovery in certain types of lawsuits such as car accidents, work accidents or personal injury lawsuits (2012). Contingency fees are set as percentage of the damages awarded to the client, an attorney receive his fees only if the case is won. Why I think that the government should put a cap on contingency fees at 20 percent of the award: I think that the government should put a 20 percent cap on contingency fees involving automobile accidents and personal injury lawsuits, because the cases are drawn out for at least 1 year, then when the client receives their settlement the money has to go toward hospital bills, legal fees and other personal expenses. ... Kenny was unable to complete school and read, so he wound up working at a meatpacking company called Monfort. Kenny was first placed to work in the shipping department. This required Kenny to lift packages as heavy as one hundred and twenty pounds. Kenny was a strong man, and thought he could handle the tough work that his job required. During an accident at work, Kenny was thrown onto the metal teeth of a conveyer belt. Kenny sought medical treatment first through the company s doctor, who told him he had only pulled a muscle. When the pain got unbearable, Kenny sought treatment elsewhere, and was told he had a pair of severely herniated disks and would need back surgery. Kenny s operation was not successful, and after financial strains from the medical bills, Kenny s wife left him. Bertha Pappenheim Bertha Pappenheim is perhaps most famous for Josef Breuer s study of (and writing about) her, but his treatment lasted only a couple of years she herself spent nearly thirteen years, between 1882 and 1895, actively attempting to reconstruct herself. The aim of this reconstruction was to grow not only from her illness but also from her previous life as a bourgeois homemaker, from the healthy aspects of her grief for her father, and (perhaps most notably) from her immense emotional reliance on Breuer himself. In fact, far more effectively than when working with Breuer, Pappenheim s own agency and motivation helped her to move successfully from her previous private fantasies into a new context of major political and social change. It is possible to examine Pappenheim s later life in terms of her illness and subsequent treatment and indeed, her experience with illness and her relationship... However, though Breuer s treatment itself may not have had as large an influence on her later life as might be expected, the timing of her illness impacted quite a lot. Mention to people that you do not believe in a god, and you will often find hate filled stares, ignorant remarks, and judgments made. To better understand this, we will discuss the following in this paper: the history of Atheism, religious freedom in the United States, examples of religious prejudice, and some reasoning why religious discrimination occurs. It also states that no law should be made against religious establishments, practices, or beliefs. It is probably not a coincidence that this is the first amendment to the Constitution. The founding fathers new the importance of religious tolerance and the separation of church and state. They did not want the new America to become a religious government, like the English monarchy. Every person wants their rights protected and upheld; unfortunately, this is not occurring for those of non secular beliefs. Race, sexual preference, and religious beliefs are the most common forms of prejudice. As a society we have made great progress against racial and sexual bigotry. What seems to be without thought, religious discriminations have been left by the wayside. From 1930 to 2007, polls conducted by the Gallup Organization asked people if they would vote for the best qualified person for president who happened to be X . X represented Atheist, Baptist, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Black, Hispanic, homosexual, married 3 times, and 72 years of age. Out of all the categories Atheist showed the least amount of improvement. The 2007 results show that only 45% would have voted yes. That is only a 5% increase from 1978 and a 4% decrease from 1999.
