Essay on The Simpsons
The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an original, satirical American sitcom cartoon, which is shown all over the world
and appeals to a wide range of audiences with its unique, yet basic form of humour. It stereotypes
and satirises the typical American lower middle class family. With its simple plots, exaggerated
situations, unrealistic scenarios, lurid colours, humour, animation and familiar pattern, it is a
typical cartoon but with an original twist. This makes it like no other cartoon made before, the twist
is the level of humour used in the Simpsons, and this type of humour is called satire. There are
many other types of humour involved in the Simpsons, but satire plays a large role in it The ... Show

Marge is also like Wilma in that they are both housewives, really care for their children and aspire
to be the perfect wife. Another thing that has linked on is that quite often the naming of the families
is used as the name of the show/programme for example, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and the
Flintstones.
The Flintstones did a spin off series and created a different sitcom that was almost identical to the
jokes and the theme, but it was set in the space age.
The only way that Flintstones and the Jetsons are different to the way in which the Simpsons
works, is the type of humour used. The Simpsons humour is a lot more complex and has clever
jokes; it satirises and makes a joke about political, literary, and cultural values of Americaand the
rest of the world. Whereas the Flintstones and Jetsons just make a joke about the time which they
are set in (stone age and space age) and the artefacts they use and twist them to be funny. For
example in the Flintstones they use a lawn mower which is really a pterodactyl which cuts the
grass and speaks. This is why the Simpsons is revolutionary, also because no cartoon sitcom has
ever been done of just satirising the typical American

The Rules Of A Dog
Breed Specific Legislation is a term used to ban a dog breed. This is, in theory to limit dog
attacks. This seems to be the quick fix . (1) These laws address breed discriminating laws. The
American Pitt Bull Terrier, English Bull Terrier, Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Chows, Dobermans, and
German Shepards all have fell victim to these absurd laws and regulations. So many dogs have
been ripped away from their lives and families. These dogs are removed and killed senselessly.
There is no compelling evidence these laws even work. They address expense to enforce and
upkeep. There are no bad dogs. There address bad people and bad owners. Over 700 U.S. cities
have breed specific laws, regulations, and ordnances already in place. These laws ruin lives.
These laws kill innocent dogs. Thirty cities in my home state of Arkansas some have
implemented laws that stress discriminate of bully breeds, bully types and bully looking dogs.
These laws are strictly on pit bulls.(1) On November 7th, 2012, 7:00 am the, Belfast City
Council murdered Lennox. Lennoc was an innocent dog. This sweet boy loved his family, life,
and did nothing wrong. The Belfast City Council took Lennox from his home and kept him
isolated for over 2 years. His family did not get to tell him goodbye.Lennox, was taken and
murdered by the authorities. This sweet dog fell victim to breed specific legislation and the The
Dangerous Dog Act that the government put in place in 1991. This Act banned certain dog breeds

Trimming your beard the basics. By combing the hair of your beard you can be sure that your
beard is at it maximum height and the hairs are facing the same direction. Before you start
trimming you must decide what you want your beard to look like.Just shave as you always do and
don t forget the exposed parts of your neck and cheeks. The shaving cream must be washed out
completely and your beard should be slightly wet. Adjust the hairlength selector of your trimmer to
the amount of hair you wantto cut. Till the moment that you are used to trimming your beard with a

Keep moving the trimmer along the edge of your beard till you reach the desired location.
The finishing touch trimming your beard. When the trimmer guard attachment is still attached to
the trimmer remove this first. Use a small comb or the styling comb that came with the trimmer to
hold your beard hairs in position. This gives the best control when using the trimmer. With the
cutting unit facing away you hold the trimmer horizontally and move the trimmer along the comb.
Be trendy with the Stubble Look . Your trimmer guard attachment has different postions. Set it to

Dunkin Brand Has Transformed Its It Security Department Of...
The Security department of any company can be seen as the department that says no because they
are the ones who usually put the axe down on ideas. As stated in the article about Dunkin Brands,
Security departments have long been thought of as a place where ideas go to die, This idea has
been planted well into the minds of workers in every division of almost any business. Security
departments go by the book, sometimes can lack innovation, and tend to do things in order to
maintain protection for the business vs building the business. Dunkin Brand has reinvented its IT
security department for this reason.Jack Sullivan has it right when coming up with an idea to
reimage and rebuild the security world. He changed the chain s vision by... Show more content on

One of the ways that Sullivan knows that this new way of thinking is working is by the
reception he is receiving from other departments within Dunkin. We are now at the table for
every decision as it pertains to risk mitigation globally... he says. Security departments can also
add value to an organization by sharing knowledge within the company to better build a place
for its customers. With so many aspects of a person s daily life going digital, understanding how
cyber security is vital to every person is important. An example of this would be Apple s value of
personal security through its value of corporate security. In order to understand how to keep a
customer s information secure, it is imperative to understand how to keep an organization s
information secure. Apple bases its decisions off of the innovations of its workers. iCloud and
ApplePay would not be at the forefront of technology without the help of its security department.
Through the idea of building privacy into everything Apple makes, it is thinking of ways to
protect the privacy of their customers. When you pay for groceries, message a friend, track a
workout, or share a photo, you shouldn t have to worry about your information falling into the
wrong hands. The personal data on your devices should be protected and never shared without your
permission. That s why we build strong, innovative safeguards into the things we make , says the

Analytical Essay on the Score of Psycho
Analytical Essay on the Score of Psycho The man behind the low woodwinds that opens Citizen
Kane and the high pitched violins of Psycho (1960). Bernard Herrmann was one of the most
original and distinctive composers ever to work in film. He started early, winning a composition
prize at 13 and founding his own orchestra at 20. After writing scores for Orson Welles radio
shows in the 1930s (including the notorious 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast), he was the obvious
choice to score Welles film debut, Citizen Kane (1941), and subsequently Magnificent Ambersons,
The (1942), though he removed his name from the latter after additional music was added without
his (or Welles ) consent when the film... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Repeated rhythmic patterns were of course well known to the improvising pianists and organists
of the silent film days the vamp till ready technique. They had also became an idiosyncratic
element of the highly original classical music of Janacek. we don t know whether Herrmann
was ever familiar with Janacek s music, but his rhytmic techniques presaged those used by
minimalist compsers several decades later. Herrmann s also developed a use of harmony that
was particularly suited to film. It is no accident that he was the composer for some of Alfred
Hitchcock s greatest films. He made strong use of augmented chords which provided a certain
unease. However, he particular used overlapping harmonies that left a scene feeling unresolved
ideal for building tension in the storytelling of a thriller. Tensions was produced by overlapping
harmonies and their ability to help build a powerful climax . His orchestrations are inventive and
chosen to underline the atmosphere of the film. At times, he deliberately limits his palette, as in
Psycho. At other times, he calls on highly unusual forces as in (his unused music to) Marnie. The
film score did not need to tie itself to the forces of the 19th century symphony orchestra. It also did
not have to follow the constraints of an acoustic performance. Some instruments could be miked up
and others miked down . This added a new tool for

Re-Priming Shot-Shell Primers
This week s chapter six over Reloading the shot shells seem to me almost the same as reloading
a regular rifle cartridge. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step
one being de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the
shell back to the proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware
you should never de prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live
primers to detonate. Step two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been
standardized to the No. 209 size, but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn
t mean they re identical in other capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and
each load calls for specific primers. If the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should
attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving forward in the loading process with a primer that
is not fully seated. This step might also be one reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive
press other that the amount of shells that can be reloaded. In a progressive if the primer protrudes it
will almost likely catch as the turret attempts to rotate and prevent the shell from accessing the next
station.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With step four you start adding other steps that are not like reloading brass. Inserting a wad which
helps seals the gases to provide the pressure to push the charge out. Step five is dropping the shot
charge in the shell. It is important to keep an eye on the volume a projectile occupies inside the
barrel and not wholly fixate upon the projectile s weight. The principle behind stacking buckshot
pellets is that the greater the angle of surface contact between two pellets, the greater the tendency
those pellets will impart energy in that

Discriminatory About Prejudice
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of prejudice is a preconceived judgment
or opinion; an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient
knowledge . According to Paula S. Rothenberg s Race, Class, and Gender in the United States, it
seems as prejudice is practiced both intentionally and unintentionally, whether the person is
discriminatory or not. For example, growing up as a child, my friend and I were enrolled in a
bilingual studies course during our 5th grade year because we were Hispanics . Although we both
coincidentally spoke fluent Spanish, the point of the class was to teach a child to speak English,
which happened to be my main language. I believe this example was an unintentional

Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay
Courtly Love Poetry
Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an
onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when
it did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3).
There is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were
abandoned. However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is
not the case. Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of
poetry, others have adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the
modern world. Thus reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American
poet Edna St. Vincent Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known
for her sonnets. This essay will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of
courtly love poetry. The history of the sonnetwill also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has
faithfully refashioned her poems. However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure
she has differed in the message it portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem
and discuss how its tone differs from traditional courtly love poetry.
According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the
courts of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is

Inventions And Inventions Of The United States
Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only
way to get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole
was using a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse,
and Thomas Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations
like dynamite, the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United Stateseconomy grow. Scientist
developed, a railroad that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send
messages across long distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along
its path. The United States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and
innovations united and strengthened the economy.
From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their
economy. Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man
made bridges are all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to
railroads, the only practical way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s
natural waterways (Metzner 1). People could not work too far from home, travel , or even visit
family that lived far away. Even communication was a challenge, before the telegraph, telephone,
typewriter, and phonograph, spreading news throughout the world, or simply sending a family mail
could take days or

Gender Diversity And Gender Discrimination
Gender diversity and gender discrimination in the tech industry is a highly discussed topic among
the human resources field. Many women continuously feel underrepresented in the field of tech and
find that it is hard to obtain top management positions. This is due to the many problems that
women face while trying to pursue these positions. These problems include overcoming the glass
ceiling, dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace, and women being placed into gender
stereotypes.

Personal Reaction The reason why I chose this article was because as a female I found it
interesting to see how women are treated differently due to prejudice in the workplace, especially
women who are in positions of power. In addition, as a woman who would like to work in the
corporate business world, I found it intriguing that a feature as simple as hair colour, can have a
major impact on how people perceive others. As a Muslim woman who wears a Hijab, I have
never really faced prejudice based on my hair, but I have faced prejudice for covering my hair.
This sounds contradictory, which is why I found the article to be of great interest. In addition,
since the technology industry is dominated by men, many people do not see the wrong in what
they are doing. Eileen recalls that at a recent party for software executives, cocktails were served
by paid female models, who were dressed like fairies . Being one of the few female CEOs in the
room, Carey says she was in the minority when it came to seeing the situation as inappropriate and
unprofessional (Buckley Butterly, 2017). In addition, another aspect of the article that made me
want to choose it, was how Eileen talks about having choice in the workplace. With news stories
about sexism and gender in the tech industry from Uber to Google dominating the headlines, Carey
says employees must remember they have a choice about where they work (Buckley Butterly,
2017). These

It was his anger about Luis death that enabled Paul to make this confession. When the cops came

over Luis death quickly turned into anger when Arthur s father tried to convince the cops that
Arthur was innocent. Paul gained this courage because of the presence of the many adults and
officers who were around, making sure that Erik could not get revenge on Paul. The book
implied that Erik was going to jail when the officer said You keep this young man in the house

Outsourcing Of The United States
According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs
by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally
(Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the
1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits
and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to
expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive,
and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for
outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their
core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets
happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area.
When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea.
Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company
being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs,
language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the
citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. If a company decides to
outsource, they also can focus on their core

English Tort Law And The Public Sector
English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on the Kent v
Griffith Case from the year 2000)
Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of losses occurred
during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law , thus according to these laws acts
in its own way in different situations. Public health and ambulance services are of great
importance when it comes to preventing injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s,
ambulances were not obliged (by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather
considered an ordinary health care provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put
the liability on the defendant, which automatically leads to a higher number of injuries and
damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an important outcome and rule is created, which creates the
hope of decreasing damages significantly in the future. I will argue that the duty of care in the
health care system (especially ambulances) should be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen
enormous damages caused by delayed service and unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try
and prove that, due to negligence, the damages created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of
care in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution costs; Moreover, they harm the economy and
social well being as well.
Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the defendant

The book of The Millionaire Next Door is written by Thomas Stanley and William Danko, and it
uses lots of case studies and statistic data to tell us how the actual millionaires live in the society
and how can normal people become millionaires. The book shows a unique insight of millionaires
and base on the authors research in last twenty years, thus the result is convincing. The authors try
to tell us two things: wealthis what you accumulate but not what you spend; and there are some
ways you can use to get wealth. For me, this book is interesting and useful. In the first part, the
book talks about prototypical millionaires live next door and starts with describing an odd situation:
Some people live in expensive neighborhood and drive luxurious cars but with less income, while
some people do not live in upscale neighborhoods but accumulate a lot of wealth. The later ones are
the true millionaires. The authors then talk about seven common characteristics about these
millionaires: they live below their means; they allocate their time and money efficiently; they
believe that financial independence is more important than displaying high social status; their
parents did not provide economic outpatient care; their adult children are economically self
sufficient; they are proficient in targeting market opportunities; they chose the right occupation. (

saved by Walter, the hero, from Sir Percival, the villain. There is a sense of gloom and horror in
gothic novels and The Woman In White conveys this through the very dark and depressing
section towards the end of the 2nd epoch, where Lady Glyde dies, and the many talks of death
by Percival and Fosco. At Blackwater Park, some blood is witnessed; this can be seen as a
foreshadowing of events to come later on in the story. Their conversation is of criminals and
murderers, another foreshadowing, pg 205: It looks just the place for murder, doesn t it? The
setting is greatly influential in Gothic novels; it not only invokes the atmosphere of horror and
dread, but also the deterioration of the world. The environment of Blackwater Park is very
gloomy, dark and sinister and so this fits perfectly, not only with the Gothic style, but also with
the conversation of murder. They talk of a perfect place for where a murder could take occur,
Percival saying that the lake is a perfect location, count Fosco saying it isn t and that wise men
know better, and Laura saying that, Fosco s statement is a contradiction, for, pg 206: ...heard that
truly wise men are good men, and have a horror of crime. Laura is basically saying that wise men
are seen as good men, and a good man would find murder a horrific event therefore there s

Weight Problems In society today, childhood obesity is becoming a growing and alarming
concern. This trend is reflected in the poem Fat Children, by Natalie Day. This is a poem about
how hard a mother found it to stop feeding the hungry mouths of her children. A thoughtful
analysis of this poem reveals a theme about unethically advocating being overweight. This is
easily discernible in the sentence, Even when they smelled of vomit / and diarrhea, I kept feeding
them (Day lines 11 12). Reading on, this theme develops even further in the sentence, I kept
baking cakes and frying sausages, / even when repulsed (Day 12 13). While this is a very widely

Therefore, it is clear to see that modernly utilized technology is not actually costing the consumer
any more than vehicles from yesteryear. While both sides seem to be at opposite ends of the
spectrum on this matter, they actually share a common interest. The similar interest in this debate
is excessive fuel consumption. Those who proclaim the modern automobile should be a strictly
economic and lightweight machine care about not consuming excessive amounts of fuel by doing
away with unneeded and heavy extras. They also don t want a higher impact on the environment
from increased fuel consumption. Likewise, those who proclaim the modern automobile should
not be a strictly economic and lightweight machine care about preserving the fuel economy as set
by their previous cars. They feel that as long as their current fuel consumption does not decline,
they will welcome the addition of new technology. In the end, although both sides care about and
measure excessive fuel consumption differently, they care about it equally. Since both sides agree
to an aversion of excessive fuel consumption, a great compromise would simply be to use lighter
wheel and tire setup. A trend has been continuing where vehicles are being equipped with
increasingly larger wheels and tires (Paula). This added rotational mass has very serious adverse
effects to fuel economy, as tested by Car and Driver. They logged that the difference

TURKEY
The word culture has been commonly used in the current society. However, it is worth noting its
true definition. Biagetti Lugli (2014) asserts that if one made an inquiry of its meaning from
anthropologists whose sole responsibility is studying culture, then it is common knowledge that he
would receive a variety of answers from them. Despite the different definitions, most of them put
emphasis on same aspects. For this discussion, therefore, the definition of culture will be given.
Also, the article will provide its five primary characteristics, and the overview of the physical
geography, military conflict and its impact on Turkish society. The definition of culture that will be
used is that it is a complex whole that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This followed the failure of a two year process of achieving peace in the countries. The failure
stemmed from the increasing tensions that have been witnessed along the Syrian borders through
the high influx of refugees coming into Turkey (Orhan, 2014, p. 33). The conflict has massively
impacted this society because of the destabilizations that have been caused. Provision of services
has been massively affected. The refugees have put a strain on the available services. The levels of
education in the country have also been affected. It is because the conflict interferes with the
uptake of knowledge and sometimes even driving school going people away.
Conclusion
The article above has discussed the concept of culture. It has mentioned its five primary
characteristics encompassing the concepts of learning, sharing, integration, dynamism and
symbolism. Besides, common features of culture have been put into perspective. The similar
aspects here encompass purpose and mission, values and principles, rites of initiation, and history
and traditions. The last issue that has been discussed encompass the overview of the physical

Analyzing The Death Of Princess Diana
When it comes to the topic of the death of Princess Diana, most people will readily agree that her
death was just an accident that was unfortunately catastrophic; however, contradicting evidence
reveals that the death of Princess Diana was a part of a larger plot. Where this argument ends,
however, is on the question of why was their barely any security at the Ritz Hotel, why was Henri
Pauls alcohol level so high, and why did the Parisian authorities take so long to provide medical
attention to Princess Diana? Many people assume that all of these questions are citizens being
paranoid; still other experts come to the conclusion that this was the plan of British intelligence to
deal with their future queen marrying a Muslim. One argument in favor of a conspiracy
surrounding Princess Diana s death is that The Ritz Hotelin Pairs should have had more security.

Compare And Contrast The Raven And The Nightmare Before...
What is common between most horror films and texts? They all use similar types of codes and
conventions. These codes and conventions differ between genre and can be easily identified. These
also reflect the values of the audience they are intended for. The 1993 stop motion animated film,
The Nightmare Before Christmas , directed by Henry Selick, and the 1845 poem, The Raven ,
written by Edgar Allan Poe, are both a part of the horror genre, as they follow the codes and
conventions of that genre. They use similar visuals, sounds, characterisation, and themes. Using
these and other conventions, audiences can identify a genre, which influences their opinions and
feelings about the genre.
Visuals are the most common way of identifying a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sound is extremely important in films, and the types of sound used differ between genre. Sound is
important in all films. Without sound, films do not possess as much power compared to if they did
have sound. In The Nightmare Before Christmas , multiple soundtracks are used throughout the film
. Two fantastic soundtracks in the film are This is Halloween and The Oogie Boogie Song . Both
use orchestral instruments and the lyrics are sung with deep voices. Diegetic sounds used in these
soundtracks and throughout the film include bats squeaking, bugs crawling, and pumpkin heads
being chopped off using a large metal blade. The effect of sounds, including soundtracks, is to
enhance the feeling experienced from the visuals. Deep voices and multiple orchestral instruments
create suspense and fear. As the music crescendos, the suspense increases as well. Loud, sudden
sounds like a scream or crash create sudden fright. Using different sounds, films are more exciting
and can be used to determine a genre.
In texts and films, one or more themes are used, and specific themes are conventional to different
genres. A commonly used theme in the horror genre is insanity, which is easily identifiable in The
Raven . In the poem, the narrator dreamt of things, smelt perfumes coming from an unseen censer ,
and even started shouting at the raven which sat still just above his chamber door. He kept asking
questions to the raven, but

Clytemnestra In Aeschylus s The Oresteia
Aeschylus s trilogy, The Oresteia, presents one reason for Clytemnestra murdering Agamemnon: as
revenge for the sacrificial murder of her daughter, Iphigenia. While this is not the only reason for
Clytemnestra s action, it is the most ambiguous; for example, Clytemnestra presents herself as a
devoted mother, but she constantly contradicts her actions with her words. For instance,
Clytemnestra, acting as a loving mother, vowed to avenge her daughter s death, but later on goes to
curse her own son, Orestes. Clytemnestra even claims to send Orestes off with loving intentions,
rather it was for her own security. Furthermore, The Libation Bearers questions Clytemnestra s
motherhood with a disturbing serpent metaphor. Therefore, Clytemnestra s actions... Show more

Upon discovering Orestes death Clytemnestra exclaims, and now Orestes, though he had the
sense not to step foot in this swamp of destruction (The Libation Bearers 697). Through this
exclamation, Clytemnestra seems to send Orestes away out of love so he wouldn t have to live
with his father s death and in the cursed house of Atreus. However Clytemnestra did not send
Orestes off with love, as Electra puts it, Orestes [was] banished from his inheritance (The Libation
Bearers 135). By banishing Orestes from his inheritance, as heir to the throne, Clytemnestra was
able to remain in power. Clytemnestra claims to have lovingly sent Orestes off to shield him from
the confounded house of Atreus; in reality, she banishes him from the kingdom because she saw
him as a threat to her power. Consider the metaphors found in the Agamemnon which compare
Clytemnestra to a lion, for example when Cassandra calls her a lioness reared up on two legs
(Agamemnon 1258). Lions in nature are as territorial and wary of menaces to their territory.
Relating Clytemnestra to a lion allows the reader to discern that Orestes would threaten her
authority because he would be the direct descendant of the throne and once Orestes rises to the
throne, Clytemnestra would lose her jurisdiction. Therefore, like a lion, she exiles the young male
cub, Orestes, from the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Zinc Oxide
Zinc oxide is a semiconductor material II VI studied since the middle of 20the century. Most of
the physical properties of massive ZnO are therefore well known for several decades. The interest
of the researchers then declined, partly because of a major technological lock for the use of ZnO in
optoelectronics, namely the impossibility of doping the p type ZnO.
The ability to grow thin layers and low dimensional hetero structures (quantum wells, nano columns,
etc.) of good crystalline quality recently revitalized the research effort on ZnO, particularly with the
aim of obtaining effective devices for optoelectronics in the blue and near ultraviolet, in
complement gallium nitride. For this purpose, the main advantage of ZnO GaN is a lower cost,
enabled by the relative abundance of zinc over gallium. Zinc oxide powder is also used as an
additive in numerous products, for example plastics, ceramics, paints, pigments, cosmetics, etc.
In material science, another major benefit of zinc oxide is its strong exciton binding energy which
allows to preserve the exciton properties up to Room temperature. The cohesion energy of the
exciton is indeed twice greater in ZnO ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the growth of quantum wells along non polar axes. These axes, perpendicular to the
axis c, make it possible to overcome the internal electric field. The main axes used in growth are
axes a and m. The first samples quantum wells of ZnO / (Zn, Mg) O non polar plan A were grown
in 2007 on sapphire substrates [Cha07]. The other axis is to reduce the density of defects
crystalline, responsible for non radiative losses. Most of the centers non radiative are crystal
dislocations, which arise from mesh clash inherent to the heteroepitaxy method. Homoepitaxy, and
therefore the use of massive ZnO substrate, theoretically promises a clear improvement in quality
crystalline. A significant improvement was observed only very recently

The National Salvation Front
The National Salvation Front (FSN), led by Ion Iliescu, comprised the new provisional government.
Iliescu gained popularity by proclaiming his role in the death of CeauЕџescu and championing a
new one party democracy (Wolchik and Cury 318). CeauЕџescu s legacy and the lack of political
competition in Romania led the citizen s of Romania to believe in the empty promises of reform
made by the FSN and Iliescu. The National Salvation Front promised to be a transitional
government and to offer free and fair elections (Wolchik and Cury 317). In May 1990, they
offered free, but unfair elections in which Iliescu won the presidency with over 85% of the vote
and the FSN won a majority of parliament with 66% of the vote (Vachudova 41). Iliescu quickly
proved to be anti CeauЕџescu, but not anti communist. Immediately after his election in 1990,
Iliescu began to concentrate his power by appointing communists to government positions, ousting
non communists, and taking control of the media (Vachudova 45). Anti Iliescu demonstrations in
Bucharest began in response and Iliescu sent miners to violently oppress the demonstrations (Linz
and Stepan 361). Iliescu continued to demonstrate that he would not allow a strong opposition. A
small number of opposition groups managed to exist in Romania; however, they were small and
fragmented. Iliescu was reelected in 1992, despite his repeated manipulation of illiberal democratic
processes such as rent seeking and partial economic reform. Under

Advantage Of Liberal Arts College
For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and
creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a
higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the
1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can
give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The
smaller environment that a liberal arts collegeprovides to students is very helpful for a successful
college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates
to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges
are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school
classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for
students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help
when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors.
Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts
colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the
opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and
critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At
most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly
impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is
often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride
themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally
help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in.
Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities,
but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time

Final Reaction
In the beginning of this film, it appears these men were struggling to be truthful and honest. They
were making sure it was a safe place to do so. They all came to discuss their experiences and learn
from other men s experiences. As the film went on I was impressed by their ability to continue to
talk about the hard topics related to racism in our country. They all took many risks to explain their
experience and question when other members thoughts were inaccurate within the group setting.
After watching the rest of the color of fear I have seen a big change in everyone in the group,
especially David Christensen.
I believe that this film as a whole is so powerful and looks at many different perspectives of how
racism and oppression can affect everyone around us. As I mentioned before we all experience
privileges and oppression, but everyone experiences these in different ways as we learned when
reading about the addressing model. By the end of this documentary, we saw so many different
types of oppressions related to within group and between group differences. They were powerful
messages because they explained how both concepts influenced and allowed the cycle of oppression
to continue in our society.
The take home message I received is that racism and prejudice will not stop from having a few

concepts.

The Impact Of Media On Youtube And Facebook
Since the advent of the internet and the yearly increase in connectivity shrinking the digital divide,
information and media have become increasingly accessible to many more people. Our personal
consumption of media has become extremely tailored due to individualization. With web based
mass alternative mediaoffer increased range, immediacy, and ease over traditional alternatives
(Owens and Palmer, 2003; p 339) we are given the opportunity to customize both our virtual and
tangible experience. The development of this multi modal communication can be seen by the
plethora of online media vehicles such as Youtube, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Twitter, and Facebook;
new unifications of creators, large companies, and politicians have begun to utilize these mediums
to fulfil their relevant agendas.
An example of this would be the development of politics on Youtube and Facebook. The
communicative technology fosters more transparency and authenticity from politicians, inhibiting
their ability to control information/image while providing previously passive audiences the
opportunity to become active in both creating and sharing dialogue while challenging claims made
in the mass media. Politicians have discovered how to govern through social media, developing
policy support and managing public opinion via direct, unfiltered communication on YouTube
(McMilan, 2015, pp 1 2). Politicians such as Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are constantly

Tattoos Are A Symbol Of Sexual And Bodily Freedom
The practice of tattooing has been used around the globe for ages, particularly in tribal societies.
However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last
century, regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a
symbol of control over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men.
In this paper, I will argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for
many women, men often interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to
make decisions about their bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making.
This interpretation affects interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s
bodies. In Western society, research shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in
women, such as a low waist to hip ratio, larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing,
and even wearing the color red signals sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are
yet another physical cue. Men and women realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that
tattoos portray, but for some reason men think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their
decision making. I will begin by offering reasons for this promiscuous stereotypes development in
Western society, followed by its effects on male female interactions and finally some insight on
stereotype reinforcement. In Christine

Opposing Gun Control with the Right to Bear Arms
The United States Patriot Militia in 1780 was the day of the battle that was the turning point of the
Revolutionary War. These militiamen were normal arms bearing citizens that gave the forward
momentum of our country s development, and without these citizens that stood up for our country,
our life may not be as it is today. The topic of gun control has been controversial for years about
how it causes more violence, more murders, homicides, etc. The main thing that is being fought
about is whether or not gun regulations should be tightened. It is a big controversy whether or not
if the law is made more strict then murders and other violence related to firearms are going to be
reduced. tightening gun regulations will affect none of these things.
The purpose of the Second Amendment is to give people the right to keep and bear arms which is
why this amendment is so important. The Second Amendment states A well regulated Militia, being

Family Is The Most Significant Impact On My Life
Family is my everything. Family has shaped both my character and my identity; however, my
sister has had the most significant impact on me. My sister, Jordan, and I grew up as any typical
sisters would. We never saw eye to eye and fought over who borrowed whose shirt. That all
changed the summer going into my freshman year of high school and her freshman year of
college. Jordan s dream college was Arizona State University and unfortunately we were still
living in Colorado at the time. My family was in nowhere of a financial position to be sending
her out of state. We were faced with the ultimatum of either moving to Arizona or sacrificing her
college dream. The move to Arizona was mutually difficult for us. For the first time we were
both in a vulnerable state of mind and it was essential to rely on each other for support. This
situation taught me about the importance of sacrifice. I was a tenacious and selfish teenager
who needed to learn what it meant to sacrifice for loved ones. That is something Jordan
enlightened me on. That first year rapidly changed the dynamic of our sisterhood. She was no
longer solely my sister; but, she was my ally, therapist, critic, teacher, and most of all best friend.
Each year that I mature, I learn and strive to me more like my sister. She has influenced my
identity even more than I would perceive possible. She has taught me to be strong. In the middle
of high school, my parents had decided to get a divorce. This decision opened up an entire

The Center Of Philadelphi The Tower Of Terror
If you have ever been to Philly, you have probably passed it at one time an old abandoned building,
which at one time was the center of Philadelphia attention. I have travelled through Philadelphia
many times and have passed this impressive Victorian style building. Despite its abandoned and
rundown appearance, I have always said that this building had so much beauty and potential. The
outside of the building has intricate arching and architecture, and has eye catching brick and stone
detailing. Driving down Broad Street, going from North Philly towards the center of downtown,
my eyes always drifted to the left to stare at this building a structure somewhat resembling the
Tower of Terror from Disney World. After passing this building various times, my mind began to
question if this building was at one time a well kept and prosperous place. As I passed this
building once more, I took note of the rickety sign that sits on top of the building that reads Divine
Lorraine Hotel. I began research on the hotel and had never envisioned the history which stands
behind that old desolate building. At one time, the Divine Lorraine Hotel was the place to live in
Philadelphia. Broad Street was a populated and flourishing area in the city. So what is the history
behind this building and what ever happened to the Divine Lorraine Hotel? The hotel of striking
architecture, through years of history, fell to shambles after being one of the most successful hotels
in Philadelphia.

Importance Of Special Education Needs
ECE212
What is a Special Education need?
Youngsters with special educational needs are kids first and have much in like manner with other
offspring of a similar age. There are numerous viewpoints to a kid s advancement that make up the
entire kid, including identity, the capacity to impart (verbal what s more, non verbal), flexibility
and quality, the capacity to acknowledge and appreciate life and the longing to learn. Every kid has
singular qualities, identity and encounters so specific incapacities will affect diversely on
individual youngsters. A tyke s special educational need ought not characterize the entire kid.

Summary Of Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is a slave narrative written by Harriet Jacobs, and was
published by Barnes Noble Classics in New York City circa 2005. The book is an autobiography of
Jacob s life, however she uses a sort of code name, which is Linda Brent.
Summary
Linda Brent was born to slaves, but she was unaware that she was a slave until she was about six
years old. Her father was a carpenter by trade, and he was quite good at it. During the first six
years of Linda s life things were normal, and William, her younger brother, and she lived a happy
life. Nevertheless, when she turned six things changed for the worse. Linda and William s
mother had died that year, and that was when she finally understood who she was, a slave. After
the tragic death, Linda was taken under her mother s mistress s wing. Even though her mother
had died, her new mistress filled the void and became her second mom. Linda had a great six or
so years with her mother s old mistress and her new mistress, but she too tragically died. This left
Linda with a new mistress, and this one was only five years old, so in reality she was the property
of her masters, and his name was Dr. Flint.
Dr. Flint purchased Linda and her brother William, and he was a very cruel... Show more content

The book was well written in chronological order, which made for an easy read. This book is
extremely enjoyable and telling, and it allows readers to find themselves really sympathizing and
empathizing with Linda and her family. The one thing that I think Jacobs could have done
differently is not using different names for the characters. To me the book would have been a
thousand times more personable had she chosen to use her real name, and her family s real names.
However that does not in anyway take away from the power and sadness that her personal story

Internet And Common Communication Problems
1.How can the Internet reduce some of the common communication problems that couples
experience in face to face conversations? How have social network services changed
communication patterns particularly on today s college campuses? What do you see as the
advantages and disadvantages of these services?
a.One way that the Internet reduces some of the common communication problems that couples
experience in face to face conversations is by confirming with other people whether the behavior
is normal or abnormal. If a couple is having a particular fight, some people may find comfort by
looking up their issue on the Internet in order to see whether it is considered normal or abnormal
behavior. However, this can also have the opposite effect;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

their families, relatives, friends, etc. who does not live in the area. Overall, the social network
services provide several positive aspects to being a college student. However, on the other hand,
social network services can be a limitation for most students when these services are overused.
Students may rely on social network communication, which can complicate their face to face

it is up to the individual student to distribute these services to the best possible ways, so that the

What Were the Socioeconomic Changes in the 1980’s Which...
What were the socioeconomic changes in the 1980 s which contributed to the emerging popularity
of Human Resource Management? Does the concept of Human Resource Management present a
radical novelty or is it a mere repackaging of personnel management?
Introduction
During the 1980 s, a new management concept referred to as Human Resource Management
(HRM) became very fashionable. At that time, many academics questioned whether HMR was
simply a renaming of the previously known personnel management (PM) tool, or whether it was,
as some claimed, a radically different philosophy and approach to management of people at work
(1). Firstly, it seems appropriate to define HRM. However, the definition of HRM this has been
widely debated, and so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toward the end of the 1980 s as more and more academics continued to produce a wealth of
literature on the subject of HRM, it became clear that there was a recurring theme for those
companies that appeared to perform extremely well in these market conditions. It became
obvious in these increasingly dynamic markets that companies that were proactive to market
change were able to do so as a result of motivated workforce. The question that was begging to be
asked was how they were able to this so well ? The answer was through involved management
styles that were instilling a culture in the workforce that was proactive rather than reactive. This is
one of the key differences that will be referred back to later. It was suggested that these had been
brought on by the intense competition and pressure, which meant a competent PM was more
necessary than ever.
There were several other socioeconomic changes that all acted as antecedents to the development
and reshaping of PM that became known as HRM. These included increasingly strident demands of
shareholders, changing work force (flexibility, part time largely through the employment of
women), a changing age structure of the workforce, the young moving in the direction of private
and service sectors, hence less prone to unionisation and finally increasingly mechanised
manufacturing processes through new technologies.
Differences between HRM and PM
The second part of this essay looks at whether HRM was in actual fact

How Did Mtv Influence Music In The 80s
One of the most important events to influence music in the 80s was the creation of MTV (Music
Television). MTV was the first station to exclusively play music videos, hitting the airwaves on
August 1st, 1981. The first music video to be played on the channel was the Buggles Video
Killed the Radio Star, as music is constantly changing the focus would shift from music to fashion
and famous people doing idiotic things. The original idea was for the station was to play music
videos twenty four hours a day, every day. This has obviously changed since then, but the
innovative concept created a whole new kind of pop star.
Pop music changed throughout the 80s and thaks to MTV there was a massive shift in interest to
not only the music the artist was producing but also to the imag eof the artist themselves. Because
of this super stars emerged and became mascots for pop music. Some of these superstars were
Michael Jackson, Madona, Whitney Houston. These superstars were experiencing a level of fame
that had not been seen since The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

One of the reasons Hip Hop found it hard to break into the mainstream was that MTV did not
want to show music videos of black artists. After public outcry the station played musicians like
Michael Jackson and he paved the way for more black musicians as his music videos were
among the most popular. Hip Hop sounded like nothing that had been heard in the mainstream
before, and the 80s are commonly thought of as the golden age of Hip Hop where all music
produced seemed to be original creative and innovative. At the end of the 80s MTV was airing the
show YO! MTV Raps making Hip Hop and Rap a global phenominon. prolific Hip Hop acts like
Run DMC and LL COOL J became style icons. The beatie boys decided to make thier music white

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deacetylases
Apart from the advantages of Chemical Deacetylation it also have disadvantages such as Energy

An alternative enzymatic method has been discovered to overcome the limitation of preparation of
chitosan by discovering chitin deacetylases . For production of novel, well defined chitosan we
have found the use of chitin deacetylases for the conversion of chitin to chitosan, which is in

However, chitosan solution must be free of aggregates, and hence the solvent for chitosan must be
chosen carefully. The viscometric average molecular weight is usually been calculated from
intrinsic viscosity because of the lower impact of small fractions of aggregates, using the Mark
Houwink relationship. In order to determine K and a parameters, an absolute MW has to be
calculated using light scattering technique and due to high sensitivity to aggregate formation the
obtained value is usually overestimated. These artifacts may be carried out for instance by the use
of 0.3M acetic acid/0.2M sodium acetate (pH = 4.5) solvent which does not form aggregates in this
mixture. Under these conditions, the absolute M values were obtained from steric exclusion
chromatography (SEC) equipped with viscometer and light scattering detector on line allowing to
determine the Mark Houwink parameters without fractionation and also to obtain the relation

Capgras Delusion Essay
Introduction
The Capgras Delusion is one of the rarest and colorful syndromes in neurology. The patient fails to
recognise the faces of close acquaintances and calls them as an imposter . They claim that the
person looks like or is identical to someone they know, while continuing to believe that they are two
different individuals. The delusional belief is strongest when the putative imposter is present [2].
Capgras delusion is classified as a delusional misidentification syndrome, a class of beliefs where
the patients have delusional beliefs that involves misidentification of people, places or objects.
The delusion is mostly common in patients diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases; such as
Alzheimer s disease (2% 30%) [8], ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adapted from Ellis et al. (1997), Proc. R. Soc. B.
This theory fails to answer two major questions. First, why is the phenomenon specific to close
relatives? One possibility, as suggested by Ramachandran el al., is that only with parents or a
spouse does one seek emotional arousal thus its absence leads to a confabulatory delusion that one
s parent is an imposter. With an emotionally neutral person on the other hand, one does not expect
such arousal, and therefore there is no incentive for generating a delusion. The second major
question is why the lack of emotional arousal can have such drastic delusions? Why does the
patient not accept the fact that the loved one is not an imposter but can no longer feel the warmth?
There can be some extra lesions, perhaps in the right frontal cortex, which is responsible for
generating such an extreme delusion. The left hemisphere seeks to preserve consistency by
explaining for any discrepancies, whereas there may be a global consistency checking mechanism
in the right hemisphere which serves to counter balance this tendency (Ramachandran 1995).
Damage to such a mechanism due to a right hemisphere stroke may lead to Capgras Delusion,
where one needs a conjugation of two lesions: one which affects the global consistency checking
mechanism in the right hemisphere and the other affecting the consistency.

Ukraine-Russia Gas Disputes
Ukraine and Russia Gas Conflict
Abstract
In the recent years, the relations between Ukraine and Russia have been hostile. Russia is the
largest producer of gas while Ukraine is the largest importer of the same commodity from Russia.
Gas fro Russia to the EU countries, east and southern Europe passes through the Ukrainian territory
and Russia has to pay transit fee. It is this issue of the supply and prices of gas that precipitated a
very big conflict between the two countries and the impact was felt allover Europe. In this paper, the
historical background of the issue, the current sate of the conflict, the solutions to the conflict; the
future of gas supply and the effects of the 2009 conflict to Europe will be addressed.

This forced Ukrainian companies to make illegal gas diversion from transit pipelines. In 1994,
an intergovernmental agreement was made on the gas issue and it included a clause that stated
that Gazprom would participate in the process of privatization of gas enterprises and others in
other sectors (Nichol and Steven 1 6). It was agreed that Gazprom would take a 51 percent stake
in the pipeline infrastructure. In 1995, the two countries agreed to come up with a cooperative
company that they would call Gaztransit so as to operate the Ukrainian gas assets in exchange
for a debt write off. Neither of the agreements was implemented, in fact, Ukraine adopted a law
called the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that disallowed the privatization of any gas and oil asset in
Ukraine (Brzezinski and Brzezins 150).
Three years later, Gazprom and Naftohaz established various contracts where Gazprom would
pay for transit with a certain volume of gas creating a link involving gas prices and tariffs for
transit. Nonetheless, this contract never resolved any of the debt disputes and the siphoning of
gas from the pipelines continued. The debt concern was resolved on the fourth of October in the
year 2001 when the additional measures that centered on the transit of Russian gas through
Ukraine was signed by an intergovernmental agreement. By the year 2005, in excess of 70 percent
of Gazprom revenue came form the sale of gas that used to pass via Ukraine. The gas trading

Symbolism In A Pair Of Tickets
The setting and symbolism are great ways to evolve characters, reveal underlying connections, and
provide the reader with hints of meanings about the story and characters. The short story written by
Amy Tan, called A Pair of Tickets uses the setting, and symbolisms in the main characters self
discovery, reveal aspects of their lives to the readers, and relate things to a deeper meaning.
Throughout the story the main character, June May, develops immensely through the setting by
finding parts of herself she thought didn t exist, and strengthening the ties to her family while
coming to terms with the past. Developing the character through the setting starts right off the bat.
While June May lived in San Francisco, she constantly denied who ... Show more content on

Colors play into the story as more than just a repeated symbol. From the beginning to the end of
the story the colors pink, green, brown, and yellow showed up. By looking at the meaning of
colors in the Chinese culture it can been seen that these colors represent the seasons of June
Mays life and the transformation that occurred within her. For starters, in past memories of her
mother, when June May was against her culture, she would include colors of pink which in
traditional times in China did not have a significant meaning; being color blind to the fact that
lemon yellow and pale pink are not good combinations for winter clothes (264). This is
significant because of the nonsignificance of the color pink, and how her heritage was
insignificant to her at the time. Also, it s important to note the use of pink clothing during the
winter. Winter typically signifies death, and not much growth. These are the case in the aspect
of June May s ties to her heritage. Once June May begins her journey new colors appear; all he is
seeing outside of the train window is a sectioned field of yellow, green, and brown (264). Green
in China s culture means new beginnings, which is exactly what June May was experiencing on
her way to China, a new beginning into the life of the past and her family. Colors play into the
end of the story as a reflectance of the change that June May has gone through; The gray green
surface changes to the bright colors of our three images, sharpening and deepening all at once.
(276). This shows that before her transition occurred, her family pride was dull and at the start of its
path, but as it, the picture and her journey, developed, so did her ties to China, brightening,
sharpening, and

Examining the Impact of Roles and Social Pressures on My Life
I spent a recent evening watching a movie with my erstwhile girlfriend Jaimie, along with two of
our mutually close friends, Jason and Michael. In the half hour before starting the video, we
rearranged Jaimie s furniture to make room for the four of us. During the screening, we laughed
together at a child s antics, made jokes about trite and improbable situations, and watched silently as
the story drew to an emotional climax. As the credit scroll began, it was clear that I was both
welcome and expected to stay in the room in a casual social gathering with the other three.
However, my response was to mumble something about having to leave, and, retreating to ... Show

I felt emasculated by the sudden decrease in affection, both physical and emotional, and began to
associate this feeling of inadequacy with my time spent with Jaimie. As Erich Fromm understood,
Both helplessness and doubt paralyze life, and in order to live man tries to escape from freedom,
negative freedom (283). My rational desire to escape conflicted with the love I felt for Jaimie
during our happier moments and the Relationship I had so idealized. After a month of equivocating,
I realized unconsciously, although my ego refused to admit it, that we would not be together much
longer.
Indeed, the fated breakup occurred, on a Sunday morning 11 days before what would be our four
month anniversary and 10 days before Valentine s Day. Jaimie made it clear that she needed time
to discover her own role in life, and that being my girlfriend impeded that discovery. Suddenly the
realization that I had been avoiding was thrust upon me. Due to influences beyond my control for it
would be both ridiculous and pretentious for me to attempt to change her mind my role had been
changed from Boyfriend to Miserable Wretch. Identities... must also be socially sustained, and
fairly steadily so.... If this recognition is suddenly withdrawn, it usually does not take very long
before the self image collapses (Berger 100). The right brain / left brain split at which I hinted
earlier was now in full effect. Intellectually, I was glad the

The Emotions Of The Brain Impacted By Emotions
An emotion is described as, a conscious mental reaction subjectively experienced as a strong
feeling usually directed toward a specific object and typically accompanied by physiological and
behavioral changes in the body (Merriam Webster, n.d.). Strong feelings of emotion, such as anger,
love, fear, joy, hate, etc., impact parts of the brain, both positively and negatively, and how an
individual learns.
In regards to the parts of the brain impacted by emotions, the limbic system is made of six different
parts. First, the almond shaped amygdala, is located in the medial temporal lobe, handles intense
emotional responses, such as aggression or fear, and is very important in emotional learning.
Secondly, is the hippocampus. The hippocampus also is located in the medial temporal lobe, is a
structure where short term memories are formed and, plays a role in emotions and memory. The
third part of the brain impacted by emotions is the pre frontal cortex that is located near the front of
the head. It is involved in decision making in response to emotions. The fourth is the hypothalamus.
This structure is located in the diencephalon, feeds information into the amygdala, and acts as a
regulator of emotion. The hypothalamus controls sexual desire, pleasure, aggression, and anger. The
cingulated gyrus is the fifth part of the brain impacted by emotions. An important part of the limbic
system, the cingulate gyrus helps regulate emotions and pain. The cingulate gyrus is thought

Evaluation Of A Good Argument
7.3 Neutralization of the fallacy:
In paragraph 4 the author has violated the sufficiency criterion of a good argument. The author
has violates the sufficiency criteria by committing the fallacy of false analogy. In paragraph 4
the author states, In the mid 1940s before publicly funded healthcare my grand parents sold their
car to pay the hospital bill related to my father s birth, so purchasing the birth of a child is
nothing new. This is a wrong analogy. Just because you pay for hospital bill and cloning, does not
make them the same. In one situation, two persons life is preserved, and in the other a person s
life is changed. The author could have avoided this fallacy by not comparing these two totally
different situations at all or giving an analogy that has the same situation as human cloning.
7.4 Positive Critique:
In the fifth paragraph the author argues that the paternal and maternal linages are not the most
important thing as what we identify ourselves with us humans, which is quite convincing. As his
first premise he states, Most people I know do identify with both their maternal and paternal
lineages. As his second premise he states, Dual heritage may be normal, but it is seems central to
our conception of ourselves as humans. And as third premise he sates, And identical twins seems
none worse for the knowledge that they are not genetically unique individuals. Even though that
was said that this argument is convincing, it is not without

  • 3. Essay on The Simpsons The Simpsons The Simpsons is an original, satirical American sitcom cartoon, which is shown all over the world and appeals to a wide range of audiences with its unique, yet basic form of humour. It stereotypes and satirises the typical American lower middle class family. With its simple plots, exaggerated situations, unrealistic scenarios, lurid colours, humour, animation and familiar pattern, it is a typical cartoon but with an original twist. This makes it like no other cartoon made before, the twist is the level of humour used in the Simpsons, and this type of humour is called satire. There are many other types of humour involved in the Simpsons, but satire plays a large role in it The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marge is also like Wilma in that they are both housewives, really care for their children and aspire to be the perfect wife. Another thing that has linked on is that quite often the naming of the families is used as the name of the show/programme for example, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and the Flintstones. The Flintstones did a spin off series and created a different sitcom that was almost identical to the jokes and the theme, but it was set in the space age. The only way that Flintstones and the Jetsons are different to the way in which the Simpsons works, is the type of humour used. The Simpsons humour is a lot more complex and has clever jokes; it satirises and makes a joke about political, literary, and cultural values of Americaand the rest of the world. Whereas the Flintstones and Jetsons just make a joke about the time which they are set in (stone age and space age) and the artefacts they use and twist them to be funny. For example in the Flintstones they use a lawn mower which is really a pterodactyl which cuts the grass and speaks. This is why the Simpsons is revolutionary, also because no cartoon sitcom has ever been done of just satirising the typical American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(1) These laws address breed discriminating laws. The American Pitt Bull Terrier, English Bull Terrier, Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Chows, Dobermans, and German Shepards all have fell victim to these absurd laws and regulations. So many dogs have been ripped away from their lives and families. These dogs are removed and killed senselessly. There is no compelling evidence these laws even work. They address expense to enforce and upkeep. There are no bad dogs. There address bad people and bad owners. Over 700 U.S. cities have breed specific laws, regulations, and ordnances already in place. These laws ruin lives. These laws kill innocent dogs. Thirty cities in my home state of Arkansas some have implemented laws that stress discriminate of bully breeds, bully types and bully looking dogs. These laws are strictly on pit bulls.(1) On November 7th, 2012, 7:00 am the, Belfast City Council murdered Lennox. Lennoc was an innocent dog. This sweet boy loved his family, life, and did nothing wrong. The Belfast City Council took Lennox from his home and kept him isolated for over 2 years. • 6. Dunkin Brand Has Transformed Its It Security Department Of... The Security department of any company can be seen as the department that says no because they are the ones who usually put the axe down on ideas. As stated in the article about Dunkin Brands, Security departments have long been thought of as a place where ideas go to die, This idea has been planted well into the minds of workers in every division of almost any business. Security departments go by the book, sometimes can lack innovation, and tend to do things in order to maintain protection for the business vs building the business. Dunkin Brand has reinvented its IT security department for this reason.Jack Sullivan has it right when coming up with an idea to reimage and rebuild the security world. One of the ways that Sullivan knows that this new way of thinking is working is by the reception he is receiving from other departments within Dunkin. We are now at the table for every decision as it pertains to risk mitigation globally... he says. Security departments can also add value to an organization by sharing knowledge within the company to better build a place for its customers. With so many aspects of a person s daily life going digital, understanding how cyber security is vital to every person is important. An example of this would be Apple s value of personal security through its value of corporate security. In order to understand how to keep a customer s information secure, it is imperative to understand how to keep an organization s information secure. Apple bases its decisions off of the innovations of its workers. iCloud and ApplePay would not be at the forefront of technology without the help of its security department. Through the idea of building privacy into everything Apple makes, it is thinking of ways to protect the privacy of their customers. When you pay for groceries, message a friend, track a workout, or share a photo, you shouldn t have to worry about your information falling into the wrong hands. The personal data on your devices should be protected and never shared without your permission. That s why we build strong, innovative safeguards into the things we make , says the company s website. • 7. Analytical Essay on the Score of Psycho Analytical Essay on the Score of Psycho The man behind the low woodwinds that opens Citizen Kane and the high pitched violins of Psycho (1960). Bernard Herrmann was one of the most original and distinctive composers ever to work in film. He started early, winning a composition prize at 13 and founding his own orchestra at 20. After writing scores for Orson Welles radio shows in the 1930s (including the notorious 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast), he was the obvious choice to score Welles film debut, Citizen Kane (1941), and subsequently Magnificent Ambersons, The (1942), though he removed his name from the latter after additional music was added without his (or Welles ) consent when the film... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Repeated rhythmic patterns were of course well known to the improvising pianists and organists of the silent film days the vamp till ready technique. They had also became an idiosyncratic element of the highly original classical music of Janacek. we don t know whether Herrmann was ever familiar with Janacek s music, but his rhytmic techniques presaged those used by minimalist compsers several decades later. Herrmann s also developed a use of harmony that was particularly suited to film. It is no accident that he was the composer for some of Alfred Hitchcock s greatest films. He made strong use of augmented chords which provided a certain unease. However, he particular used overlapping harmonies that left a scene feeling unresolved ideal for building tension in the storytelling of a thriller. Tensions was produced by overlapping harmonies and their ability to help build a powerful climax . His orchestrations are inventive and chosen to underline the atmosphere of the film. At times, he deliberately limits his palette, as in Psycho. At other times, he calls on highly unusual forces as in (his unused music to) Marnie. The film score did not need to tie itself to the forces of the 19th century symphony orchestra. It also did not have to follow the constraints of an acoustic performance. • 8. Re-Priming Shot-Shell Primers This week s chapter six over Reloading the shot shells seem to me almost the same as reloading a regular rifle cartridge. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step one being de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the shell back to the proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware you should never de prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live primers to detonate. Step two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been standardized to the No. 209 size, but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn t mean they re identical in other capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and each load calls for specific primers. If the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving forward in the loading process with a primer that is not fully seated. This step might also be one reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive press other that the amount of shells that can be reloaded. In a progressive if the primer protrudes it will almost likely catch as the turret attempts to rotate and prevent the shell from accessing the next station.... Inserting a wad which helps seals the gases to provide the pressure to push the charge out. Step five is dropping the shot charge in the shell. Discriminatory About Prejudice According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of prejudice is a preconceived judgment or opinion; an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge . According to Paula S. Rothenberg s Race, Class, and Gender in the United States, it seems as prejudice is practiced both intentionally and unintentionally, whether the person is discriminatory or not. For example, growing up as a child, my friend and I were enrolled in a bilingual studies course during our 5th grade year because we were Hispanics . • 10. Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay Courtly Love Poetry Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned. However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case. Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history of the sonnetwill also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems. However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from traditional courtly love poetry. According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Inventions And Inventions Of The United States Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only way to get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole was using a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse, and Thomas Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations like dynamite, the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United Stateseconomy grow. Scientist developed, a railroad that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send messages across long distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along its path. The United States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and innovations united and strengthened the economy. From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their economy. Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man made bridges are all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to railroads, the only practical way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s natural waterways (Metzner 1). People could not work too far from home, travel , or even visit family that lived far away. Even communication was a challenge, before the telegraph, telephone, typewriter, and phonograph, spreading news throughout the world, or simply sending a family mail could take days or ... • 12. Gender Diversity And Gender Discrimination Gender diversity and gender discrimination in the tech industry is a highly discussed topic among the human resources field. Many women continuously feel underrepresented in the field of tech and find that it is hard to obtain top management positions. This is due to the many problems that women face while trying to pursue these positions. These problems include overcoming the glass ceiling, dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace, and women being placed into gender stereotypes. Personal Reaction The reason why I chose this article was because as a female I found it interesting to see how women are treated differently due to prejudice in the workplace, especially women who are in positions of power. In addition, as a woman who would like to work in the corporate business world, I found it intriguing that a feature as simple as hair colour, can have a major impact on how people perceive others. As a Muslim woman who wears a Hijab, I have never really faced prejudice based on my hair, but I have faced prejudice for covering my hair. This sounds contradictory, which is why I found the article to be of great interest. In addition, since the technology industry is dominated by men, many people do not see the wrong in what they are doing. Eileen recalls that at a recent party for software executives, cocktails were served by paid female models, who were dressed like fairies . Being one of the few female CEOs in the room, Carey says she was in the minority when it came to seeing the situation as inappropriate and unprofessional (Buckley Butterly, 2017). In addition, another aspect of the article that made me want to choose it, was how Eileen talks about having choice in the workplace. With news stories about sexism and gender in the tech industry from Uber to Google dominating the headlines, Carey says employees must remember they have a choice about where they work (Buckley Butterly, 2017). His parents have been hiding the secret behind his impaired vision from Paul his entire life and now he learns that he became visually impaired because of his brother and his brother s friend, Vincent Castro, by getting spray paint forced into his eyes. When the cops came to arrest Arthur for being linked to the death of Luis, [Paul] stood up straight and faced them all, like [he] had seen Luis do. I saw I heard Erik Fisher tell him to do it (276). The guilt inside Paul over Luis death quickly turned into anger when Arthur s father tried to convince the cops that Arthur was innocent. Paul gained this courage because of the presence of the many adults and officers who were around, making sure that Erik could not get revenge on Paul. The book implied that Erik was going to jail when the officer said You keep this young man in the house not in the neighborhood, not in the yard in the house. I may call or come back at any time and I expect him to be here (276). When Paul confessed, he changed his entire life, because his parents would no longer act as if Erik were the standard that Paul had to meet. This also helped Paul prove to his parents that Erik was a terrible person deep down and not destined for greatness the way his parents thought. Outsourcing Of The United States According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally (Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the 1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive, and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area. When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea. Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs, language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. If a company decides to outsource, they also can focus on their core ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. English Tort Law And The Public Sector English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on the Kent v Griffith Case from the year 2000) Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of losses occurred during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law , thus according to these laws acts in its own way in different situations. Public health and ambulance services are of great importance when it comes to preventing injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s, ambulances were not obliged (by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather considered an ordinary health care provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put the liability on the defendant, which automatically leads to a higher number of injuries and damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an important outcome and rule is created, which creates the hope of decreasing damages significantly in the future. I will argue that the duty of care in the health care system (especially ambulances) should be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen enormous damages caused by delayed service and unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try and prove that, due to negligence, the damages created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of care in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution costs; Moreover, they harm the economy and social well being as well. Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the defendant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book shows a unique insight of millionaires and base on the authors research in last twenty years, thus the result is convincing. The authors try to tell us two things: wealthis what you accumulate but not what you spend; and there are some ways you can use to get wealth. For me, this book is interesting and useful. In the first part, the book talks about prototypical millionaires live next door and starts with describing an odd situation: Some people live in expensive neighborhood and drive luxurious cars but with less income, while some people do not live in upscale neighborhoods but accumulate a lot of wealth. The later ones are the true millionaires. The authors then talk about seven common characteristics about these millionaires: they live below their means; they allocate their time and money efficiently; they believe that financial independence is more important than displaying high social status; their parents did not provide economic outpatient care; their adult children are economically self sufficient; they are proficient in targeting market opportunities; they chose the right occupation. A thoughtful analysis of this poem reveals a theme about unethically advocating being overweight. This is easily discernible in the sentence, Even when they smelled of vomit / and diarrhea, I kept feeding them (Day lines 11 12). They also don t want a higher impact on the environment from increased fuel consumption. Likewise, those who proclaim the modern automobile should not be a strictly economic and lightweight machine care about preserving the fuel economy as set by their previous cars. They feel that as long as their current fuel consumption does not decline, they will welcome the addition of new technology. In the end, although both sides care about and measure excessive fuel consumption differently, they care about it equally. Since both sides agree to an aversion of excessive fuel consumption, a great compromise would simply be to use lighter wheel and tire setup. Both use orchestral instruments and the lyrics are sung with deep voices. Clytemnestra In Aeschylus s The Oresteia Aeschylus s trilogy, The Oresteia, presents one reason for Clytemnestra murdering Agamemnon: as revenge for the sacrificial murder of her daughter, Iphigenia. While this is not the only reason for Clytemnestra s action, it is the most ambiguous; for example, Clytemnestra presents herself as a devoted mother, but she constantly contradicts her actions with her words. For instance, Clytemnestra, acting as a loving mother, vowed to avenge her daughter s death, but later on goes to curse her own son, Orestes. Clytemnestra even claims to send Orestes off with loving intentions, rather it was for her own security. Through this exclamation, Clytemnestra seems to send Orestes away out of love so he wouldn t have to live with his father s death and in the cursed house of Atreus. However Clytemnestra did not send Orestes off with love, as Electra puts it, Orestes [was] banished from his inheritance (The Libation Bearers 135). By banishing Orestes from his inheritance, as heir to the throne, Clytemnestra was able to remain in power. Clytemnestra claims to have lovingly sent Orestes off to shield him from the confounded house of Atreus; in reality, she banishes him from the kingdom because she saw him as a threat to her power. Consider the metaphors found in the Agamemnon which compare Clytemnestra to a lion, for example when Cassandra calls her a lioness reared up on two legs (Agamemnon 1258). Lions in nature are as territorial and wary of menaces to their territory. Relating Clytemnestra to a lion allows the reader to discern that Orestes would threaten her authority because he would be the direct descendant of the throne and once Orestes rises to the throne, Clytemnestra would lose her jurisdiction. Most of the physical properties of massive ZnO are therefore well known for several decades. The interest of the researchers then declined, partly because of a major technological lock for the use of ZnO in optoelectronics, namely the impossibility of doping the p type ZnO. The ability to grow thin layers and low dimensional hetero structures (quantum wells, nano columns, etc.) of good crystalline quality recently revitalized the research effort on ZnO, particularly with the aim of obtaining effective devices for optoelectronics in the blue and near ultraviolet, in complement gallium nitride. For this purpose, the main advantage of ZnO GaN is a lower cost, enabled by the relative abundance of zinc over gallium. Zinc oxide powder is also used as an additive in numerous products, for example plastics, ceramics, paints, pigments, cosmetics, etc. In material science, another major benefit of zinc oxide is its strong exciton binding energy which allows to preserve the exciton properties up to Room temperature. Advantage Of Liberal Arts College For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment that a liberal arts collegeprovides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the film went on I was impressed by their ability to continue to talk about the hard topics related to racism in our country. They all took many risks to explain their experience and question when other members thoughts were inaccurate within the group setting. After watching the rest of the color of fear I have seen a big change in everyone in the group, especially David Christensen. I believe that this film as a whole is so powerful and looks at many different perspectives of how racism and oppression can affect everyone around us. As I mentioned before we all experience privileges and oppression, but everyone experiences these in different ways as we learned when reading about the addressing model. By the end of this documentary, we saw so many different types of oppressions related to within group and between group differences. They were powerful messages because they explained how both concepts influenced and allowed the cycle of oppression to continue in our society. The take home message I received is that racism and prejudice will not stop from having a few discussions, but this can help to us as a society and as counselors to become more aware of these concepts. ... The Impact Of Media On Youtube And Facebook Since the advent of the internet and the yearly increase in connectivity shrinking the digital divide, information and media have become increasingly accessible to many more people. Our personal consumption of media has become extremely tailored due to individualization. With web based mass alternative mediaoffer increased range, immediacy, and ease over traditional alternatives (Owens and Palmer, 2003; p 339) we are given the opportunity to customize both our virtual and tangible experience. The development of this multi modal communication can be seen by the plethora of online media vehicles such as Youtube, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Twitter, and Facebook; new unifications of creators, large companies, and politicians have begun to utilize these mediums to fulfil their relevant agendas. An example of this would be the development of politics on Youtube and Facebook. The communicative technology fosters more transparency and authenticity from politicians, inhibiting their ability to control information/image while providing previously passive audiences the opportunity to become active in both creating and sharing dialogue while challenging claims made in the mass media. Politicians have discovered how to govern through social media, developing policy support and managing public opinion via direct, unfiltered communication on YouTube (McMilan, 2015, pp 1 2). However, there has been an increase in this type of body art in Western society over the last century, regardless of its savage like connotations. Tattoos are viewed by many women as a symbol of control over their bodies, which challenges their historically rooted dependence on men. In this paper, I will argue that although tattoos are a symbol of sexual and bodily freedom for many women, men often interpret this symbolism to mean not simply that women have freedom to make decisions about their bodies, but that women will be promiscuous in their decision making. This interpretation affects interactions and perpetuates stereotypes about tattoos on women s bodies. In Western society, research shows that men are sensitive to a range of physical cues in women, such as a low waist to hip ratio, larger breasts, effective cosmetics use, revealing clothing, and even wearing the color red signals sexual receptivity (Mehta, Psychology Today). Tattoos are yet another physical cue. Men and women realize the symbolism of sexual and bodily freedom that tattoos portray, but for some reason men think tattooed women will be promiscuous in their decision making. I will begin by offering reasons for this promiscuous stereotypes development in Western society, followed by its effects on male female interactions and finally some insight on stereotype reinforcement. These militiamen were normal arms bearing citizens that gave the forward momentum of our country s development, and without these citizens that stood up for our country, our life may not be as it is today. The topic of gun control has been controversial for years about how it causes more violence, more murders, homicides, etc. The main thing that is being fought about is whether or not gun regulations should be tightened. It is a big controversy whether or not if the law is made more strict then murders and other violence related to firearms are going to be reduced. tightening gun regulations will affect none of these things. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to give people the right to keep and bear arms which is why this amendment is so important. The Second Amendment states A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed . This is saying that the people have the right to bear arms. People try to point out that it talks about militia and try to say, well that s the National Guard , but it s not. My sister, Jordan, and I grew up as any typical sisters would. We never saw eye to eye and fought over who borrowed whose shirt. That all changed the summer going into my freshman year of high school and her freshman year of college. Jordan s dream college was Arizona State University and unfortunately we were still living in Colorado at the time. My family was in nowhere of a financial position to be sending her out of state. We were faced with the ultimatum of either moving to Arizona or sacrificing her college dream. The move to Arizona was mutually difficult for us. For the first time we were both in a vulnerable state of mind and it was essential to rely on each other for support. This situation taught me about the importance of sacrifice. I was a tenacious and selfish teenager who needed to learn what it meant to sacrifice for loved ones. That is something Jordan enlightened me on. That first year rapidly changed the dynamic of our sisterhood. She was no longer solely my sister; but, she was my ally, therapist, critic, teacher, and most of all best friend. Does the concept of Human Resource Management present a radical novelty or is it a mere repackaging of personnel management? Introduction During the 1980 s, a new management concept referred to as Human Resource Management (HRM) became very fashionable. At that time, many academics questioned whether HMR was simply a renaming of the previously known personnel management (PM) tool, or whether it was, as some claimed, a radically different philosophy and approach to management of people at work (1). Toward the end of the 1980 s as more and more academics continued to produce a wealth of literature on the subject of HRM, it became clear that there was a recurring theme for those companies that appeared to perform extremely well in these market conditions. It became obvious in these increasingly dynamic markets that companies that were proactive to market change were able to do so as a result of motivated workforce. The question that was begging to be asked was how they were able to this so well ? The answer was through involved management styles that were instilling a culture in the workforce that was proactive rather than reactive. This is one of the key differences that will be referred back to later. It was suggested that these had been brought on by the intense competition and pressure, which meant a competent PM was more necessary than ever. There were several other socioeconomic changes that all acted as antecedents to the development and reshaping of PM that became known as HRM. These included increasingly strident demands of shareholders, changing work force (flexibility, part time largely through the employment of women), a changing age structure of the workforce, the young moving in the direction of private and service sectors, hence less prone to unionisation and finally increasingly mechanised manufacturing processes through new technologies. (1997), Proc. R. Soc. B. This theory fails to answer two major questions. First, why is the phenomenon specific to close relatives? One possibility, as suggested by Ramachandran el al., is that only with parents or a spouse does one seek emotional arousal thus its absence leads to a confabulatory delusion that one s parent is an imposter. With an emotionally neutral person on the other hand, one does not expect such arousal, and therefore there is no incentive for generating a delusion. The second major question is why the lack of emotional arousal can have such drastic delusions? Why does the patient not accept the fact that the loved one is not an imposter but can no longer feel the warmth? There can be some extra lesions, perhaps in the right frontal cortex, which is responsible for generating such an extreme delusion. The left hemisphere seeks to preserve consistency by explaining for any discrepancies, whereas there may be a global consistency checking mechanism in the right hemisphere which serves to counter balance this tendency (Ramachandran 1995). Damage to such a mechanism due to a right hemisphere stroke may lead to Capgras Delusion, where one needs a conjugation of two lesions: one which affects the global consistency checking mechanism in the right hemisphere and the other affecting the consistency. ... It was agreed that Gazprom would take a 51 percent stake in the pipeline infrastructure. In 1995, the two countries agreed to come up with a cooperative company that they would call Gaztransit so as to operate the Ukrainian gas assets in exchange for a debt write off. For starters, in past memories of her mother, when June May was against her culture, she would include colors of pink which in traditional times in China did not have a significant meaning; being color blind to the fact that lemon yellow and pale pink are not good combinations for winter clothes (264).
