Typography For my typography project, I chose to redesign Bath Magic Inc.'s webpage. I found this
poorly designed webpage by simply searching the Internet for "ugly websites". It was at the top of a
list of "Top 10 Worst Websites You'll Wish You Hadn't Seen". I figured that I couldn't make it look
any worse. What I first noticed about this unfortunate website is the overload of information that
overwhelms the page, as well as its viewers. The information the site is attempting to convey is also
repeated numerous times. There is so much going on and being offered, that I, the viewer, am not
sure what Bath Magic Inc. is. Do they fix bathrooms, sell certain products, or all the above? The
website's information is not organized in a way that's usable and logical to the everyday site visitor.
In order to clearly convey what services their company has to offer, I sought to establish good visual
hierarchy in my redesign with the size, alignment, contrast, and density. In design, size is one
important way to draw the audience's attention. The bigger the object or font, the more attention it
demands. In order to highlight the most important and influential parts of the website, one should
make them bigger so the viewers will immediately be drawn to it. In Bath Magic Inc.'s original
website design, the largest elements are their slogan and some very unattractive images. The slogan,

According to Feeding America, a U.S. Hunger Relief Organization, over 50 million people suffer
from hunger in America. Although a complex issue, nonprofit organizations such as food banks
make tremendous contributions each year toward combating hunger. Unfortunately, the majority of
food donated to the Puyallup Food Bank located in Puyallup, Washington is heavily processed. A
heavily processed diet can lead to nutritional deficiencies in fiber, calcium, iron and vitamins. These
nutrients are vital to human survival.
Additionally, during non–holiday months, donations to the Puyallup Food Bank decrease
considerably. To change this and help the food bank receive sufficient nutritional food donations
year–round, team 6 decided to repurpose Sarah Pike's research project.
Using Ms. Pike's research, we realized the Puyallup Food Bank had issues in communicating its
needs effectively with the community. To assist in correcting this, we felt the design of a simple,
visually interesting "call to action" pamphlet would be an appropriate tool.

Unit 12 – Evaluation for the Brochure
The aim of the brochure was to inform the tourists about the best places to visit Newcastle upon
Tyne. I included information about Nightlife, Shopping, Entertainment and Food, which I included
with useful information. I am not allowed to use the font style Arial and Times & New Roman.
Also, the other decisions, which were made will be specified whilst I am discussing the pages.
After the initial client meeting and subsequent meetings for designs I began work on the CRC of the
document.
I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief and the questionnaire,
which I gave the client to answer. The page layout for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages
into three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images,
information and designing the page. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the
information and the sizes of the images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more
different and appealing, which is significant. The information is placed in a rectangular or square
box and it fits the whole A4 page. The purpose of this was to make it stand out, which would
encourage the reader 's to carry on reading the brochure. The point size of the texts varies this
depends if it is the subheading, heading or body text and this is to make some information stand out

Parts of URL:
A URL is comprised of four parts. Using http://www.motive.co.nz/about/index.html as an example:
1. protocol: http://
2. domain or machine name: www.motive.co.nz
3. directory path: /about/
4. file name: index.html
The first portion (not technically part of the URL) identifies the protocol (http). This portion can
specify other protocols such as https (secure http), ftp, and so on.
The Host portion identifies the machine that runs the Web server and Web server application.
Although it is not shown in the preceding picture, this portion can override the port that receives
messages. Usually, there is no need to specify a port, because the port number is implied by the
protocol.
The Script Name portion specifies the name of the Web server application. This is the application to
which the Web server passes
