At age 22 Walt Disney was fired from a Missouri newspaper
Disney wanted to be a actor in Hollywood but he wasn t lucky
The artists who worked for Walt were actually working for the distributor and Oswald the Lucky

How Does Walt Disney Relates To Me Adwait This topic relates to me because, Walt Disney was
always been trying to achieve greater things than he has at the moment. The same thing applies
to me, if I get into advanced math, then I will try to move up one more level and be two grades
ahead in math. Sometimes we have failures, like in 6th Grade when I worked very hard to get a
good grade on the math placement test but ended up being placed in normal math anyways. Walt
Disney had a failure like mine as well, he had created a company called Laugh o Gram Studios.
He strived for the company to be successful but in the end it ended up being bankrupt. I have

Christmas Carol Essay
Christmas Carol
How does Charles Dickens convey the character of scrooge in the early pages of a Christmas Carol?
Charles Dickens, is best known for his host of distinctively cruel, repugnant characters.
His father was sent to a Debtors prison taken his son Charles with him maybe this is where some
of the ideas for characters came from. After a few years, Dickens left the prison to work in a
blacking factory.
Dickens started writing in prosperous Victorian England, where only the rich were cared for. He
grew up seeing what the poor people had to experience and how they had to live in this world.
The technique the writer uses is of a physical appearance. Describing
Scrooge he gives the readers an idea of what he looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author tells us directly what Scrooge is,
A tight fisted hand at the grindstone. Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping,
clutching, covetous old sinner.
This is a very good description by Dickens showing us how horrible
Scrooge is, Dickens doesn t stop after a few lines he continues until the reader clearly gets the point.
To express Scrooge s meanness Dickens uses harsh words saying that
Scrooge liked to edge his way along the crowded paths of life, warning all human sympathy to keep
its distance.
This shows that the human race didn t like Scrooge.
The author describes Scrooge by putting plenty of feelings into the lines. Dickens describes
Scrooge with feeling in the line,
Oh! But he was a tight fisted hand at the grindstone.
This suggests that Scrooge makes people work very hard and doesn t give them a lot in return.
Another way Dickens uses to dramatise Scrooge s unpleasantness is by showing how the other
characters react to him and him to them. If he is asked a question the answer is always No. He
never reacts with kindness or politeness to other characters. Scrooge s nephew is one of the few
characters who makes an effort to be pleasant to him, but
Scrooge is always nasty to him. When Christmas is mentioned Scrooge becomes especially cross.
The time that Dickens has chosen, Christmas, is perfect for showing just how mean and nasty
Scrooge is. Scrooge hates Christmas and he also hates to see

Annotated Bibliography On The Effects Of Aspartame
Annotated Bibliography for the Effects of Aspartame Numerous neurological and behavioral side
effects have been linked with consuming aspartame at well below the approved safe limits set by
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that has been
ingested in the United States for over three decades. Even though there are several studies showing
the harmful effects of its consumption. When aspartame is digested several toxic chemicals are
produced, most notability formic acid glutamate. Both of these chemicals cause the body to mimic
the side effects of multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer. Even the passing of aspartame to be allowed in
food was controversial. Just as the studies on it, continue to be today.... Show more content on

Phenylalanine can pass through the blood brain barrier and significantly change the production of
neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemicals that send signals from one neuron to
another. By bonding to a, ...neutral amino acid transporter (NAAT)... (Humphries, Pretorius,
NaudГ©, 2008, para. 7) phenylalanine is able to pass through the blood brain barrier. The body also
further breaks down phenylalanine to tyrosine when it is processed through the liver. If tyrosine is
additionally broken down to dihydroxyphenylalanine and reaches the brain the production of
dopamine will be compromised leading to depression like symptoms after the consumption of
aspartame. Further cellular breakdowns are additionally explained throughout the article. The two
most shocking assertions are the long term effects with consuming high levels of aspartame with
increasing the chemical glutamate on the NMDA receptors leading to a decrease in stimulation and
neurodegeneration, possibly causing or mimicking the symptoms of the disease Alzheimer s. The
second alarming claim made on the effect of long term ingestion of aspartame is when aspartame s
temperature exceeds 86 degrees Fahrenheit. As the authors observed, ...the wood alcohol in
aspartame is converted into formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic
acidosis. (Humphries, Pretorius, NaudГ©, 2008). Metabolic acidosis causes methanol toxicity,
which has been associated with mimicking the symptoms of multiple

Task 1 Outlines roles and responsibilities of a client, CDM coordinator and architect regarding
health, safety and welfare. Clients roles and responsibilities regarding health, safety and welfare in
construction? Clients have the responsibility to make sure all equipment is tested and fit for use
and also to conduct risk assessments at work place. The clients role is to establish an acceptable
starter for health and safety. Under the construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
there are specific health and safety responsibilities. One of these includes ensuring that the
construction health and safety plan has been produced before starting. They also have to choose the
Construction Design and Management Co ordinator as well as the principal contractor. The client
is expected to store the health and safety file on completion. CDM coordinator roles and
responsibilities regarding health, safety and welfare in construction? The CDM Coordinator is
given allocated roles and responsibilities on planning the health and safety before and after a
contract under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. These
responsibilities include ensuring that the HSE is notified with the signed F10 of the project. If
there are more than one designers on the contract, e.g. An interior designer or a structural designer,

Payment System In The Healthcare System
We re all pretty familiar with the waiting game a patient has to endure just to see their doctor.
Ultimately ending with subpar results from doctors. We re spending too much time waiting on our
doctors and less time finding ways to address our health concerns. It s frustrating not only for the
patients, but also for the doctors. Insurance companies put so much pressure on doctors. Requiring
them to see a number amount of patients in order to get paid. As a result, many doctors are unable
to give their patients the quality care they rightfully deserve. Our healthcare system focuses more
on quantity rather than quality and this needs to change. So, how can we make sure two important

When a patient has been waiting to be seen by their doctor waste can be boring, frustrating,
tedious, and bureaucratic. Every time a patient goes in for an appointment they deal with this and
unfortunately their health problems aren t addressed. When we view the American healthcare
system through Lean we see the needs of the patient are being met, providers and the health
system are still able to make money. The healthcare system s focus should be the health of a
patient, who at the end of the day is also a customer. Lean s main goal is to focus on a customer
friendly environment. Once we reach that goal we can eventually, reinvent the healthcare system
(Dart, 2011). Lastly, another program I d like to mention is HospitalValue Based Purchasing
(VBP). It focuses on providing Medicare beneficiaries with good quality care and also allows
institutions to make money. What s great about this program is that hospitals aren t being paid
solely on the amount of services they provide. It is part of the Centers for Medicare Medicaid
Services (CMS) and what they do is reward hospitals based on the quality of care being provided
to patients with Medicare. The hospital s clinical practices will be closely followed to ensure
how well hospitals are keeping up with a patient s experience while staying in a hospital. In
regards to how hospitals and insurers will make money, Medicare creates incentives based on how
well hospitals perform and if they made improvements

Introduction
Prostate cancer (PCa), the development of cancer in the prostate, is one of the most mortal
diseases that threaten men s lives in current world. It is the most commonly diagnosed non skin
cancer in the United States, and it is second leading cause of cancer deaths in American men.
Autopsy series have revealed that small prostatic carcinomas are present in up to 64 percent of
men from 60 to 70 years of age. [1] Most prostate cancers are slow growing, and it causes no
symptoms in early stages. Thus, most patients are found in advanced stage. Older age, race and
family background of the disease are three main factors to increase the risk of the disease. A few
other factors are linked to increase the disease including dietary, medication exposure, viral and
sexual factors.
Nanotechnology is a novel technology what generally deals with structures and systems with a
size less than 100nm. [1] Due to its unique tiny size, the properties are quite different from bulk
properties include physical properties, chemistry properties, biological properties. For example,
gold in bulk form is inert, but in nano scale, it tends to be very active. Moreover, different sizes,
structures, and surface areas of gold nanoparticles make it exhibit different colors.

Robin Williams Suicide
A standard feature article or personality profile, to be declared as a riveting one, should be
written in a style of fiction, patched with pictures and characterized with quotes from the
exclusive interview. But given a death of a celebrity situation, what could be the new measures in
producing a cordial article that can both celebrate and mourn the death of the person? On the
September 11, 2014 issue of the magazine Rolling Stone, writer David Browne came back with a
cover story featuring the famous actor behind Mrs. Doubtfire, Robin Williams who committed
suicide exactly a month before. Being known as a comedic genius and having been attributed the
stereotypes brought by his title, Williams suicide came as a shock not only in the... Show more

He also interviewed Williams friends including Lance Armstrong, Kid Rock, David Steinberg
and Gary Marshall. With the subject being dead, getting a scoop from people within his circle
gives an idea on the character of the person through other persons which what makes it different
from the usual profile where the readers get a glimpse of the featured person s character from
himself. In the interviews, Williams friends shared not only the favorable experiences with him
but also the unsettling ones which served as the clues on what triggered his suicide. Browne
swayed the readers into coding the causes of hid suicide throughout the whole article and did not
drop the this is what caused his suicide bomb in one paragraph. Though written in a more
imaginative style, no strong emotion of sadness could be picked up from the article. Being about a
death of a prominent person, readers could have expected a more emotional and touching article.
This problem, though, can be answered if Browne interviewed the family members of Williams,
especially his children. That could have given the article a more touching side. Considering it was
written a month after, Browne may have purposely omitted the thought of making the article a

The Importance Of Poverty In South Korea
Over the summer, I traveled to Seoul, South Korea. One day, I decided to walk down streets of
Hongdae to see what everyone was doing. There were people everywhere; they were rushing
around hurriedly and frantically studying in cafГ©s that lined the street. I turned down a side
road to the front of a temple, where I saw homeless people sitting on the ground, holding their
hands out for even в‚©10 (a penny in US dollars). I walked further along onto the main road and
found a mob of people protesting various things in the middle of the street. This scene of endless
work, poverty, and injustice is found all over the world, not just in South Korea. With a world that
consists of seeing so many terrible events happening daily, the world needs hope.
One issue that reveals the need for hope is poverty. The 2015 Census found that 13.5% of
America s population was in poverty, and this number has probably risen up even higher as
years have passed by ( Current Poverty Rate ). There are so many people in the world who are
stuck in poverty and may also feel resigned to being in poverty and not being able to do anything
about it. Another issue that shows the need for hope is war. The world is constantly talking about
being on the verge of worldwide conflict, and daily on the news, you see new stories about how
tensions are rising that could lead us to immediate nuclear war. For example, almost every day
now, we hear stories about how North Korea keeps threatening the world with the

American Psycho vs. Wall Street
The Reagan 80s , a Wall Street bull market and excess for the sake of excess. During this decade,
the economy was coming out of a severe recession after 1982 and it exploded shortly thereafter.
It seemed out of nowhere, people were getting rich by investing in the stock market. The 80 s
was the decade of the corporate raiders. Powerful, money hungry investors would buy companies
when their values were on the line and dismantle them, selling off the assets piece by piece and
becoming filthy rich off of it. Clearly, these investors had to have had the education and long
career in the financial industry in order to have the knowledge to pull off maneuvers like this. This

I was the victim of the burgeoning culture of the politically correct. I had more money than I knew
what to do with. It was the year of being hated.
Wall Street has been touted as one of the most accurate portrayals of Wall Street culture and
recently spawned a sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. The character of Gordon Gekko
and his obsession with greed is still prevalent today, especially during the fall of Lehman
Brothers and Bear Stearns in 2008. Many of the executives of those firms as well as Wall Street
executives in general were referred to as being the Gordon Gekkos of our generation. Most news
coverage regarding government intervention in the economy has been about Wall Street
intervention as of the past few years. There are so many events in American Psycho that have been
left open to interpretation, but the most popular being that Bret Easton Ellis was commenting on
morality within society and its obsession with vanity and greed. Wall Street is a much more
straightforward text which shows the deep roots of greed in the business world. Oliver Stone
modeled Gekko after several notorious Wall Street executives who were arrested for trading
scandals as well as his father (who was a stock broker) and himself. Both characters (Gordon
Gekko and Patrick Bateman) were developed so that they have no redeeming qualities (especially
Patrick Bateman). One of the big controversies over American Psycho was how Bateman

Compare And Contrast Hume s Riddle Of Induction
PHI 111, spring 2017
Paper #2 Induction
Inductive inferences are judgments about the future that the sun will rise tomorrow, that the hot
stove will burn me, that the (properly functioning) airplane will stay aloft, that the piece of metal
will expand if heated. Hume observes that such judgments are neither matters of fact nor
relations of ideas and so concludes that they are not proper objects of knowledge we cannot
claim to know that the sun will rise tomorrow, that the stove will burn me, etc. We can t even
claim to know these things are probable; inductive judgments appear not to be justified at all! But
we make them all the time in everyday life, and scientific practice seems to be based on them.
How are we to make sense of our inductive practices? Hume suggests that the answer lies in our
psychology, that regularities in experience give rise to habits of expectation. Popper and Goodman
both argue that Hume s solution is problematic, that we cannot explain our inductive practices
simply by appealing to habits of thought. Popper goes on to conclude that what we take to be
inductive practice is really just a method of conjectures and refutations and Goodman goes on to
posit his new riddle of induction; what they have in common, though, is a concern about Hume s
psychological solution to the riddle of induction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

`` All Star Superman `` And `` The Yellow Wallpaper ``
Right from the start of All Star Superman, we are introduced to colorful panels that integrates the
use and symbolism of colors. Throughout written literature, from Red Wheelbarrow to The Yellow
Wallpaper, color has been a consistently used technique to add extra meaning to subjects. The use
of that symbolism in the comic book medium makes sense, since colorcan be shown instead of
conveyed. To try and establish the colors meaning in All Star Superman, we can look at it s repeated
use and try and determine what the pattern between them is. Take for example the color purple: on
pages 146 147, the funeral is done out in purple; another example is on page 236, Regan is wearing
only purple. Between those two situations, the connection... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
We see more of this same example on pages 92, 96 and 197, as in that they are all green panels that
occur on or near the moonbase. On page 219 221, we are in Superman s lab, which has a green
background very similar to that of Quintum s lab.
This use of green is not limited to backgrounds or outfits either. From pages 48 50, Lois Lane is
preparing to use a kryptonite gun on Superman. The item itself is primarily green and fires green
mist, which also makes sense because kryptonite is green. On page 106, we see Luther fiddling
with a device that is a mobile library. When this device speaks, even its speech bubbles are done
out in this green shade. This scientific symbolism makes sense here too, as these are very scientific
machines.
Jumping ahead to the use of another color, we have yellow. Whenever yellow appears in this
comic, it is usually in regard to very powerful, ultimate things. Take for example page 149. On
page 149, the leader of the Superman Squad (who is presumably an older, original superman)
gives the modern, original superman an indestructible flower. The leader and the flower are both a
golden yellow, which gives both of them a feeling that they are powerful and mysterious. On page
40, Superman is making miniature suns to feed to his sun eater. These suns are a similar shade of
golden yellow, and

and makeup. My sister and I are so thankful of what we got. After we opened the presents, we
played a game. We played Carrom. Carrom is a board gamewhere there are 9 black coins, 9 white
coins, 1 red coin, and a striker. You re trying to shoot the coins into the goal with a striker. So if I
was white coins, I have to shoot all 8 white coins into the goal. Then there is 1 white coin and 1
red coin. So I have to shoot the red coin into the goal an if I make it, I have to shoot my white
coin. If I make that, the game is over and I would win. If I made all 8 white coins and have to

An Analysis of Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison
One of the most complex and elaborate characters in Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison
is Bone. Throughout the story Bone has to live a life where she thinks that she is the leading
mystery of the trouble being caused. She has numerous unhappy situations and is in no way self
satisfied with herself. She doesn t appreciate who she is physically. She constantly thinks she is
the most homely and dull person who causes the most inconvenience in the family. This sense of
selflessness is mainly due to the physical and sexual abuse brought upon by Daddy Glen, Bone s

Although some kinds of sexual behaviors are quite common among non abused children (for
example, kissing, touching genitals manually), sexually abused children tend to engage in a greater
number of sexual behaviors than their non abused peers, many of which are developmentally
talented and seemingly imitative of adult sexual activity. Such behavior not only may result in
interpersonal rejection or stigmatization by the victim s peer environment, but also may lead to
social sanctions and punishments when it escalates into the victimization of other children. As
adults, survivors report a greater fear of both men and women. They are more likely to remain
single and, once married, are more likely to divorce or separate from their spouses than are those
without sexual abuse histories. Sexual abuse survivors typically report having fewer friends, less
interpersonal trust, less satisfaction in their relationships, more maladaptive interpersonal patterns
and greater discomfort, isolation, and interpersonal sensitivity. It is said that adults victimized as
children may see themselves as unworthy of relationships with people they consider good or
healthy, and that some victims may attempt to gain mastery over the abuse experience by recreating
it in the form of involvement in poor or abusive relationships. In

It is within man s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man s first
achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next
decades, space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man s desire to explore, man s desire
for knowledge, and man s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as
the well of government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the
American people has been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to
whether or not space travel is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since
humanity faces so many issues on earth currently. However, because of the past... Show more

Outside of the desire to win, it was an immensely interesting idea to get people into space. The
thought held awe, inspiration, and desire Man was able to go to space, but only if we try, and
by golly, we will. The final reason was not as evident to the public, but still important. Because
of space travel s popular support, scientists were able to flex their creative muscles with
seemingly perpetual funding while being cool doing so. This brought the best minds together
and allowed them to open up to ideas previously thought impossible, especially with the recent
advent of electronics. Not only was it possible to send a rocket into space, it was possible to send
a man into space in fact it was possible for man to go to the moon. Even further, unmanned
vehicles could rove around on the surface of Mars, and in the future unmanned probes would even
escape our solar system. All that changed. The hype of the space bubble did not immediately burst,
but instead slowly leaked out, starting after reaching the moon, the anti climax of the space station,
and finishing out with the collapse of the Soviet Union. There was no competition, we had
achieved our goal, and the flow of money was starting to be noticed. Debts, politics, and wars
gained more focus and attention both economically and popularly. As a result, attention towards
space travel dwindled. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration received a big slash

Mexican American Attitudes
In a study by MartГnez (2013) the attitudes of Mexican American students towards learning English
as a second language in a structured immersion program was investigated. It also analyzed the
extent to which these attitudes differed in relation to the variables of gender and performance in
English.
The participants of the study were 110 students (girls, n = 56, boys, n = 54) in grades 8 12 in the
Compton Unified School District (California, USA). Students with an English proficiency range
from beginner to intermediate were taken out from their classrooms for a period of between 30

Physiology Lab 3 Activity 2 Essay
1) Make a graph of resting heart rates from Activity 1. Provide a physiological explanation for
fluctuations in resting heart rate over time. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the
autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate.
The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous
system and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to
balance each other out.
There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include
things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also
volume of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate.

Homeostatic is all about balance so when you begin to exercise, you need more oxygen. The harder
you breathe the more energy it takes to replace it. Your body temperature while exercising also
increases; typically it creates too much heat so your body has to figure out a way to release the
heat so it doesn t become dangerous. This is done by sweating
4) Compare and contrast oscillations in heart rate observed at rest (Activity 1), during exercise and
recovery exercise (Activity 2). Is the relative magnitude of the oscillations the same? Provide a
physiological explanation in your answer.
In the first experiment I was subject 2. For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much.
My heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his
oscillations while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your
heart is trying to adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Your body is
trying to balance, but if it is thrown into a demanding activity it will take a little bit more adjusting
than if you are just resting.

Bilingual And Bilingualism
The world is unique and big. There are many different states, countries, and cities. Countries can
have a lot in common like relationships, food, and education. Countries can also have a lot of
differences like religions, beliefs, and languages. Languages may vary but is also very important in
communication and understanding. A huge epidemic that is becoming more common is
bilingualism also known as bilingual. Languageis a cognitive function that takes place in the brain,
bilingualism can improve brain function.
Broca s and Wernicke s area is located in the left hemisphere. Broca is responsible for the
muscles involved in word pronunciation within the frontal lobe. Wernicke is located in the
temporal lobe and is associated with a person s language compensation. Brain imaging MRI
studies have been conducted to view the activity of the brain during speech and hearing. Studies
that heard their native language being their first or primary language showed activation in the left
hemisphere as according to Broca s and Wernicke s area. People who knew American Sign
Language (ASL) or a second language had greater activity in the right hemisphere and sometimes
even the left and the right (Wilson, J., 2013). Children develop language according to an invariant
sequence of steps or stages (Shriner Shriner, 2014, 6.2 Infants par 2). At 12 months an infant will
begin echolalia and intonation then evolving to a vocabulary with over thirty words by 24 months.

TRANSCANADA S ENERGY EAST PIPELINE
Canada is well known for having one of the world s largest oil reserves. But did you know that
Canada also has the third largest total length of pipelines (CIA, n.d.)? Why would anyone want
to add on to that already vast network? However, that is what TransCanada and many other
pipeline corporations propose we do. In this essay, I am going to analyze the recent conversation
surrounding the proposed creation of TransCanada s Energy East pipeline. TransCanada s
Energy East pipeline would take crude oil from Alberta s oil sands and transport it across the
country to a refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. Some of the oil would then be loaded onto
marine tankers in Saint John and shipped overseas to Asian markets. With a construction cost of
around $15.7 billion, Energy East would become North America s largest oil pipeline, capable of
carrying 1.1 million barrels of oil per day (TransCanada, 2016). This would make a significant
impact on Canada s economy, as the pipeline is expected to create thousands of jobs and increase
Canada s gross domestic product by $55 billion (TransCanada, 2016). Furthermore, it may reduce
energy prices in Atlantic Canada, as they would no longer have to pay the premium for foreign
resources (Canadian Press, 2016). However, recently there has been a strong opposition to the
pipeline especially in Montreal and the surrounding region. The mayor of

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is a movie that portrays
the situation during the Cold War in comical fashion. The movie is about the United State s
attempt to recall the planes ordered by the paranoid General Ripper to attack the Soviet Union and
essentially save the planet from destruction. Producer and director Stanley Kubrick, basing the
movie on the novel Red Alert intended the movie to be a straightforward drama but was unable to
without using crucial scenes of the story that seemed to give the movie a more comical view of the
plot.

Flaws Of Mrs Dalloway
In Virginia Woolf s novel Mrs. Dalloway, readers follow many character s train of consciences.
One of the main characters is Mrs. Dalloway (also referred to as Clarissa), readers learn that she
is as normal as any other person. She has insecurities, she can be bitter and uptight, she runs
errands to get ready for a party she is having, Clarissa stops and smells the roses (figuratively and
literally). Mrs. Dalloway has her faults as any other person but she also has her quirks and
liveliness as any other person does as well. One of her faults is that she is insecure despite that
she is 50 years old, she still feels like the insecure 18 year old at times. Not that she thoughtherself

human nature to be indecisive; humans try to chose something that is safe and familiar, when
that is not an option humans become indecisive. The brain only holds as much information as it

Clarissa flashes back from when she was 18 to how old she is presently at age 51. Of course she
is going to be hypocritical at times. In this passage she is considered a hypocrite because she says,

significant portion of the book is Clarissa s thoughts. Perhaps Clarissa thinks that she cannot think
because she does not believe she is clever. This rounds out the theory that Clarissa is insecure and
it prompts the question, Is Clarissa always going to be insecure? Will she be like this throughout the

The Importance Of Intercultural Dialogue In Canada
Multi culturalism pervades Canada as a nation, a predominately immigrant driven and sustained
country that seems at times to indicate overtly and in part covert inferences from those who slip
through the cycle of immigration without the opportunity of engaging and by extension impacting
the conversation on intercultural dialogue in Canada. One can cite that majority of Canada s
population is comprised of diverse ethnic and cultural background of immigrants yet the term
visible minority has been harnessed to dichotomize its immigrant community, bit of oxymoron
possibly. Luzviminda, an extremely creative expression of dialogue between Canada and the
various ethnicities that seek to improve or enrich there lives and those of there love ones. Its
epitomizes another avenue of communicative osmosis of cultures that s enhances and penetrates the
social, political and cultural platform from which they initiate and exchange dialogue. I cannot
negate the that fact, while Canada frames the space for such migration to be possible for immigrant
population, it goes without say that the benefit is dual in nature. Canada s socio economic
paradigm is by virtue very much at a perpetual advantage as a result of its expeditious growth from
the immigrant community. Luzvinminda, stands as a representation of this intercultural dialogue.

campaign also wants to help the next generation of women develop a positive relationship with

from sunup to sundown, only stopping to eat a simple lunch of bread and water. On there good
days they may even have the luxury of an apple. Skylar s parents could not afford to pay help while
Skylar was in school, and he told them that he did not want them to struggle for him. So he never

The Weakening and Loss of Muscle Caused by Muscular Dystrophy Disease As a whole, muscular
dystrophy is a group of many different diseases causing muscle weakness and muscle loss in
skeletal muscles that control movement of the body (Korschun, 2007). Each distinction of this
genetic disease may affect different muscle groups and even have different symptoms. One thing
these diseases have in common is that the person affected will lose more and more muscle as they
age. Currently, there is no cure for muscular dystrophy but there is treatment that may help alleviate
the pain and slowing the disease down (Muscular Dystrophy, n.d.). Most people are diagnosed at a

Lastly, imaging tests are used to examine the muscles. When muscles are broken down, fatty
deposits replace it. Those who possess a muscular dystrophy disease usually have more fat mass
than those who are healthy (GuzmГЎn, GarcГa, RodrГguez Cruz, 2012). Imaging tests can show
how much muscle has been replaced with fat. The symptoms may seem obvious for muscular
dystrophy. When muscles degenerate, they cannot be used at the fullest potential. The earliest
symptom may be delayed walking in children (Bushby et al., 2009). A reduction in size and
strength of muscle is another sign that muscles could be degenerating. The variations of muscular
dystrophy disease target different and several muscles. Having trouble using a group of muscles
may be a sign of muscular dystrophy disease. Some may have trouble standing up, and some
people may fall frequently also (How is muscular, n.d.). If the patient has weak respiratory
muscles, they may have trouble breathing due to a lack of airflow (Makker, H., M., P, 2012).
Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for muscular dystrophy. However, there are treatments that
may delay the progression of the disease, alleviating the pain, and controlling the symptoms.

Food Is A Way Of Life
Food has essentially become a way of life in our world. People identify by what kind of food they
grew up eating. People from the south feel that barbecue food is a way of life, while people in
Italy can t live without pasta. We can learn a lot about where are ancestors are from when we look
at what kind of food we eat, but we can also see the change that the culturewe live in has put upon
us. Since America is this beautiful melting pot of many different cultures we can see the blended in
all of us, but still know our heritage form the secret familyrecipes we have learned from our
parents, and grandparents. Food in essence is a part of our culture that shows us where we our
ancestors are from, where we currently live, where we grew up, what religion we partake in,
and just who we are as people. When my Grandparents immigrated to America from Italy, they
held on tightly to their Italian culture. One of the things they will not let go of is the prestigious
Italian food they grew up having. They wanted to pass on their love of Italian dishes onto their
children, who would then pass it down to their grandchildren. Make no mistake about it they
passed down their extreme love of Italian food down to us, but due to the fact that we grew up in
the heart of Texas our food preferences are a little different. My brother and I not only love the
sweet Italian food we grew up having at grandma s house growing up, we also love us some Tex
Mex food, good barbecue, and Cajun food. This

Under the Bill Clinton Administration reformation and foreign policy was beginning to be

President Clinton called for action, an ultimatum through the North Atlantic Treaty

Serbs quickly complied and a NATO imposed cease fire in Sarajevo was declared. (Kershaw.)
This was just the beginning of foreign development solution for the Balkan region. The Clinton

Requirements are often the most misunderstood part of system development. But it is an absolutely
critical function. (Robertson 208). In regards to the first statement, I believe Ken Orr meant that
from the view point of project leaders understanding how to implement requirements may be
misunderstood. Recall, that requirements are obtained from other stake holders. Through this
communication, meaning can naturedly be misinterpreted. Also, projectleaders often do not have a
technical understanding of the project they are developing, therefore not understanding
implementation of a require can occur because of this too. That is why, project manager must
communicate with other stakeholders to understand requirements and the project they are
developing. Lastly, what is a requirement can also be misunderstood by stakeholders that a project
manager is working with. This misunderstanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recall, requirements are critical function to a project because tell managers what the project must
do. Without these instructions, one can not know for certain the processes a project must include.
Furthermore, requirements also act can act as a guide for development. This is because
requirements can outline a sequence of events in a project.
Lastly, a project can consist of several requirements. Due to time and budget some requirements
may be more essential than others. Recall, there are two types of requirements Functional and Non
functional. Based on the reading, Functional requirements are described as something that a project

what is especially noticeable in today s political advertisingcampaigns is that advertisers use similar
language used in product advertisements, which manipulates the voters, rather than the consumers,

In his article, Weasel Words: The Art of Saying Nothing at All , William Lutz explains to the
reader exactly what weasel words are and how advertisers use these types of weasel words to
influence consumers to purchase products. In his article, Lutz explains that they use these types of
words to state a certain claim but without holding any promises to those claims that they just made.
The trick is that the claim that comes after the weasel word is usually so strong and so dramatic
that you forget the word help and concentrate only on the dramatic claim (Lutz 521). When they use
the word help , they usually follow up with a crazy claim that distracts the audience from the weasel
word being said and the claim being stated, in turn, promising nothing at all in the advertisement as
to what the product can do. The government of the United States of America, currently has not a
single law, bill, or policy that limits political advertisements; There is, however, a code in place that
holds product advertisement to the truth as to what the product does. Advertisers are becoming
smarter and sneakier in the way they portray certain things, most likely to be able to get away with
certain things that otherwise would have been rejected. Lutz also mentions that advertisers create a
product to help a problem the consumer is facing. But even if the consumer isn t currently facing

Life Of Being Born As A Hermaphrodite And The...
Summary
The article mainly discusses the life of being born as a hermaphrodite and the contradictions that
medical management and medical investigators have on them. The author of the article, Anne
Fausto Sterling, believes that hermaphrodites are human too and that the medical field should only
worry about the hermaphrodite s health conditions rather than their physical appearance. The
article states that Western culture strongly agrees that there are only two sexes, so being a
hermaphrodite is none existing. They are simply unexplored by science itself (pg. 2). Sterling
believes that hermaphrodites have needs as well as problems that need to be met and that they
deserve to be accounted for as sexes. The five sexes that are being discussed are male, female, and
intersex. Intersex is described as a catch all category for the subgroups that share both male and
female characteristics. That creates the term hermaphrodite (herms), which are people who have
both male and female parts. The second subgroup is called male pseudo hermaphrodites (merms)
which are people who are born with mostly male parts. The third subgroup is called female
pseudo hermaphrodites (ferms) who are those who mainly have female organs. The article focuses
on the structure of how hermaphrodites are classified. Ferms, which are the females, are mainly
female because they still develop a menstrual cycle during puberty but if they do not take any
medication for their disorder, they would develop traits as a

What Causes War
Is war an invention or is it a biological need? We engaged in this intriguing argument with several
view. Some scholars tried to proof that warfare is a biological necessity but others assert that war
is something that is created. A number of studies define warfare as an act of violence, a struggle,
or a test of ability between groups, for a particular end. However, the general conception remains
that waris inevitable and is universal. Generalization about this particular phenomenon may be
problematic. Our way of life, and activities we engage in daily are affected by our culture. As
culture varies over time and space, it would be challenging to prove war is universal. So is
warfare inevitable, or even universal? Mead (1940:20) contends that war is an invention. With
this conception, this paper attempts to argue that warfare materializes as a means to manage in
some circumstance but not all. Firstly, to refute those who would argue that war is necessary
and universal Mead (1940:21) suggested that, societies will go to war if they have war as an
invention. This ties to the topic that war is created in particular social cultural context. For this
example, Mead references two groups, the Eskimos and the Lepchas of Sikkim described by
Geoffrey Gorer. Both groups neither concede war. The Lepchas was meek, and few may argue that
aggression wasn t their character. But the Eskimos, as Mead points out, were the opposite they
were more aggressive people. Yet, they didn t choose

The Jeweler s Daughters
Why won t he just die? Debora Clayton said when The Rev. Charles Spears, Rector of the
Downtown Church of Our Savior had finished saying The Litany at the Time of Death. Karl
Frielingheisen, her father, was curled up in the hospital bed, staring through the side rails with dull
gray eyes. Two weeks after an unsuccessful heart valve operation, he had drained his familyand
himself with his dying. The priest took her arm and led her into the corridor. He can still hear
you, he said quietly. The sixty year old divorcee put her hands over her eyes, setting three
enormous diamond rings ablaze in the ceiling lights. I just want it over, she sobbed. Why don t
you wait out here, Spears said, recognizing the emotional exhaustion and guilt that so often
torments the children of the dying. I ll sit with him for a while. At ninety seven Karl
Frielingheisen s face was as stern as a Roman portrait bust. Spears wondered what those eyes saw
now.
After the Second World War, Frielingheisen had emigrated from Germany and founded s
successful chain of jewelry stores just as shopping was moving to the new suburban malls. A
believer in the transformative power of advertising, he emblazoned his wives and two daughters
with bracelets and brooches and rings and earrings to show how jewelry could make money glow.
The old man started, as if he saw suddenly saw something terrible moving toward him. Karl? the
priest asked. Wealth, like a soft

serious problem. Throughout the movie as it goes deeper in on the food industries, the facts

creates an emotional connection between the viewer and the one telling the story. A boy who is
overweight is shown in the documentary, Brady Kluge discusses his struggle saying, I look at it as
I m failing and they look at it, as he s just another fat kid. Using this kid helps with the take off of

Charles Dickens, is best known for his host of distinctively cruel, repugnant characters. His father was sent to a Debtors prison taken his son Charles with him maybe this is where some of the ideas for characters came from. After a few years, Dickens left the prison to work in a blacking factory. Dickens started writing in prosperous Victorian England, where only the rich were cared for. Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner. To express Scrooge s meanness Dickens uses harsh words saying that Scrooge liked to edge his way along the crowded paths of life, warning all human sympathy to keep its distance. This shows that the human race didn t like Scrooge. The author describes Scrooge by putting plenty of feelings into the lines. Dickens describes Scrooge with feeling in the line, Oh! But he was a tight fisted hand at the grindstone. This suggests that Scrooge makes people work very hard and doesn t give them a lot in return. Another way Dickens uses to dramatise Scrooge s unpleasantness is by showing how the other characters react to him and him to them. If he is asked a question the answer is always No. He never reacts with kindness or politeness to other characters. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that has been ingested in the United States for over three decades. Even though there are several studies showing the harmful effects of its consumption. When aspartame is digested several toxic chemicals are produced, most notability formic acid glutamate. The healthcare system s focus should be the health of a patient, who at the end of the day is also a customer. Lean s main goal is to focus on a customer friendly environment. Once we reach that goal we can eventually, reinvent the healthcare system (Dart, 2011). Lastly, another program I d like to mention is HospitalValue Based Purchasing (VBP). I walked further along onto the main road and found a mob of people protesting various things in the middle of the street. This scene of endless work, poverty, and injustice is found all over the world, not just in South Korea. Hume observes that such judgments are neither matters of fact nor relations of ideas and so concludes that they are not proper objects of knowledge we cannot claim to know that the sun will rise tomorrow, that the stove will burn me, etc. We can t even claim to know these things are probable; inductive judgments appear not to be justified at all! But we make them all the time in everyday life, and scientific practice seems to be based on them. How are we to make sense of our inductive practices? Hume suggests that the answer lies in our psychology, that regularities in experience give rise to habits of expectation. Popper and Goodman both argue that Hume s solution is problematic, that we cannot explain our inductive practices simply by appealing to habits of thought. Popper goes on to conclude that what we take to be inductive practice is really just a method of conjectures and refutations and Goodman goes on to posit his new riddle of induction; what they have in common, though, is a concern about Hume s psychological solution to the riddle of induction. ... Throughout written literature, from Red Wheelbarrow to The Yellow Wallpaper, color has been a consistently used technique to add extra meaning to subjects. The use of that symbolism in the comic book medium makes sense, since colorcan be shown instead of conveyed. To try and establish the colors meaning in All Star Superman, we can look at it s repeated use and try and determine what the pattern between them is. On page 219 221, we are in Superman s lab, which has a green background very similar to that of Quintum s lab. This use of green is not limited to backgrounds or outfits either. From pages 48 50, Lois Lane is preparing to use a kryptonite gun on Superman. The item itself is primarily green and fires green mist, which also makes sense because kryptonite is green. On page 106, we see Luther fiddling with a device that is a mobile library. When this device speaks, even its speech bubbles are done out in this green shade. This scientific symbolism makes sense here too, as these are very scientific machines. Jumping ahead to the use of another color, we have yellow. Whenever yellow appears in this comic, it is usually in regard to very powerful, ultimate things. Take for example page 149. On page 149, the leader of the Superman Squad (who is presumably an older, original superman) gives the modern, original superman an indestructible flower. The hype of the space bubble did not immediately burst, but instead slowly leaked out, starting after reaching the moon, the anti climax of the space station, and finishing out with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate. The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous system and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to balance each other out. There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also volume of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate. 2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much. My heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his oscillations while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your heart is trying to adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Countries can also have a lot of differences like religions, beliefs, and languages. Languages may vary but is also very important in communication and understanding. A huge epidemic that is becoming more common is bilingualism also known as bilingual. Languageis a cognitive function that takes place in the brain, bilingualism can improve brain function. Broca s and Wernicke s area is located in the left hemisphere. Broca is responsible for the muscles involved in word pronunciation within the frontal lobe. Wernicke is located in the temporal lobe and is associated with a person s language compensation. Brain imaging MRI studies have been conducted to view the activity of the brain during speech and hearing. Studies that heard their native language being their first or primary language showed activation in the left hemisphere as according to Broca s and Wernicke s area. People who knew American Sign Language (ASL) or a second language had greater activity in the right hemisphere and sometimes even the left and the right (Wilson, J., 2013). Children develop language according to an invariant sequence of steps or stages (Shriner Shriner, 2014, 6.2 Infants par 2). • 26. The Balance Between Environmental Risk And Economic Benefit THE BALANCE BETWEEN ENVIRONMENTAL RISK AND ECONOMIC BENEFIT: TRANSCANADA S ENERGY EAST PIPELINE Canada is well known for having one of the world s largest oil reserves. But did you know that Canada also has the third largest total length of pipelines (CIA, n.d.)? Why would anyone want to add on to that already vast network? However, that is what TransCanada and many other pipeline corporations propose we do. In this essay, I am going to analyze the recent conversation surrounding the proposed creation of TransCanada s Energy East pipeline. TransCanada s Energy East pipeline would take crude oil from Alberta s oil sands and transport it across the country to a refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. Some of the oil would then be loaded onto marine tankers in Saint John and shipped overseas to Asian markets. With a construction cost of around $15.7 billion, Energy East would become North America s largest oil pipeline, capable of carrying 1.1 million barrels of oil per day (TransCanada, 2016). This would make a significant impact on Canada s economy, as the pipeline is expected to create thousands of jobs and increase Canada s gross domestic product by $55 billion (TransCanada, 2016). Furthermore, it may reduce energy prices in Atlantic Canada, as they would no longer have to pay the premium for foreign resources (Canadian Press, 2016). However, recently there has been a strong opposition to the pipeline especially in Montreal and the surrounding region. The mayor of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Life Of Being Born As A Hermaphrodite And The... Summary The article mainly discusses the life of being born as a hermaphrodite and the contradictions that medical management and medical investigators have on them. The author of the article, Anne Fausto Sterling, believes that hermaphrodites are human too and that the medical field should only worry about the hermaphrodite s health conditions rather than their physical appearance. The article states that Western culture strongly agrees that there are only two sexes, so being a hermaphrodite is none existing. They are simply unexplored by science itself (pg. 2). Sterling believes that hermaphrodites have needs as well as problems that need to be met and that they deserve to be accounted for as sexes. The five sexes that are being discussed are male, female, and intersex. Intersex is described as a catch all category for the subgroups that share both male and female characteristics. That creates the term hermaphrodite (herms), which are people who have both male and female parts.
