A Correlation Between Telomere Length And Chronic Disease
During each and every cell replication, chromosomes shrink by a small, but noticeable amount.
Because of this, telomeres cap the ends to protect the coding regions of the chromosomes. With
each generation of DNA, more and more of the telomere disappears. An enzyme slowly rebuilds
them, but it cannot keep up with the degradation during chromosome replication. Eventually the
shortened telomeres cause the cell to go through apoptosis (Pierce 2014). Because telomeres are
one cause of cell death, it is hypothesized that telomere size can determine the health and age of an
individual. Research has shown a correlation between telomere length and chronic disease. Those
with chronic diseases usually have significantly shorter telomeres. This raises... Show more content

Telomeres are related to so many different aspects of our bodies because they play a key role in
protecting our genetic make up. They are important structures in every cell of our body. Because of
their role, their effect spreads well beyond that of simply protecting chromosomes.
Structure and Function
Telomeres make up the tips of linear chromosomes and function to protect and stabilize the
chromosomes from degradation (Pierce 2014). There are other functions, but the primary one is
protection. At each replication, DNA shortens by just a few base pairs due to the nature of
replication in eukaryotes (who have linear chromosomes). The two strands of DNA are
synthesized at different rates, creating a leading strand and a lagging strand. The leading strand
is replicated quickly and fluidly in a 5 to 3 direction, as seen in Image 1. The lagging strand is
replicated in a backstitch patter. Primers are placed along the DNA strand and DNA polymerase
replaces them with segments of DNA. It can only do this, though, if a 3 OH group is present.
The 3 OH group precedes the primer, and would sit just to the right of the green primers in
Image 1. No 3 OH group would be present at the end of the chromosome because it only exists on
one side of the primer. The area where the primer is sitting would not be replicated, and thus the
DNA would shorten. Tandem sequences of noncoding DNA sit at the ends of the

Examples Of Pronoun-Antecedent
My Weakness Became My Strength: Pronoun Antecedent
People always say practice makes perfect and that cannot be any truer when it comes to writing.
The more times I write an essay, the better I get at them. Even from the very beginning of my
English career, I have always had to work on improving from my mistakes. Throughout the
semester, I have realized that I have a problem with pronoun antecedent agreements. In the past, I
was not aware of pronoun antecedent agreement problems in my papers. I had never been taught
that if I have a singular noun I need to use he or she to make the noun and pronoun agree. Now,
after writing essays over and over, I can pick out my mistakes and fix them so that my pronoun and
antecedent agree with each other. Over the course of the semester, I have improved greatly
throughout my three papers on my problems with pronoun antecedent agreement.
The first essay, Sports, Trauma, and Tears , I struggled in pronoun antecedent agreement. I had
never before been properly taught much about pronoun antecedent agreements in my previous
classes. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when to use he or she. I have learned that going back and reviewing my work can help me find

Renewable Energy And Climate Change
Renewable Energy and Climate Change Global warming and climate change is one of the most
pressing issues in the contemporary society given its continued impacts on human life and the
world s ecosystem. The considerable effects of this issue have raised huge concerns among
policymakers, governments, and the public. As a result, various initiatives have been developed in
attempts to lessen global warming or climate change, especially those related to reducing the
emission of greenhouse gases to the Earth s atmosphere. Governments across the globe including
the United Kingdom government have adopted various policies that focus on dealing with the
issue. There are various policies that help in dealing with the issue including lessening greenhouse
gases emissions, adapting to the effects of climate change, and geo engineering of the climate
system. The attempts by the UK government to address this problem require an understanding of
the increasing energy demands and its future impact and use of suitable renewable energy sources.
Outlook of Climate Change and Global Warming Global warming and climate change attributed to
increased emission of greenhouse gases have continued to be pressing issues in today s society
since they threaten the stability of the climate, population, and economy of the world ( Meeting the
Energy Challenge , 2007). The challenges associated with global warming and climate change is
attributed to the fact that 75 percent of world s carbon dioxide

The Grandidier s Mongooses
The Fossa is the largest carnivore and top predator native to Madagascar. Fossas feed on lemurs
and almost any other creature it can find. These creatures have a similar appearances and
behaviors as animals in the feline family. Fossas have retractable claws and catlike teeth to help
it capture its food when stalking in the trees or on the ground, weather it be day or night. The
Fossas ancestor, the original ancestor of the Eupleridae family, is unknown. But through its
ancestors, the Fossa is related to Mongooses. Grandidier s Mongooses Also known as the Giant
Striped Mongoose, the Grandidier s Mongoose is a hard creature to find. The Image result for
grandidier s mongoosetemperature in Madagascar is very hot and humid, so to keep cool the
mongoose adapted itself to burrow during the day and hunt during the night, and unlike other
mongooses, the Grandidier is very large. During the night, the mongoose eats invertebrates and
other small organisms. The Grandidier s Mongooses ancestor is the Ring Tailed Mongoose, and
through it, the Grandidier s Mongoose is related to Narrow Striped Mongooses. Also, through the

Reflection Of Japanese Immersion
Individual Reflection Japan Immersion
Benjamin Franklin said once, An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. This summer I
had the opportunity to invest in my professional knowledge as an international business woman,
and I agree that such investment will pay the best interest. I participated in the Japan immersion
program from the College of Business which allowed me to grow as a professional by expanding
my perspective on the difficult process of starting a business in a foreign country in which you are
not familiar with. Additionally, I developed a greater ability to adapt to a different culture beyond
my already current adaptability as an international student. And Finally, I understood the process of
preparation for doing international business to be well informed of their culture and how to
incorporate it as a competitive advantage when trying to do business with them.
First, the immersion program contributed to my professional development by allowing me to be
confident in the future to be chosen as the lead or a member team to start a business in a foreign
country. During the immersion, I was introduced to the ideologies and strategies foreign companies
develop to bring their product to the United States, and the Resources that are available for those
companies, as well as foreign companies wanting to start a business in Japan. For example for
United States companies wanting to start to do business within the Japanese market they have
resources such as Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), an independent government agency
designed to help navigate international companies with the regulations and tax laws of countries
around the world needed to succeed on an international business. In addition there is also the
opportunity of partnering with Japanese companies to learn about the specific market from the
insiders. In addition, some research parks corporations, like the Kyoto Research Park, to which I
was able to visit during the Immersion, provide companies with Office spaces, safety, amenities,
and support for startup business that can be beneficial for foreign companies. Starting a business
can be difficult, but starting a business in other country it s even harder. Thus, having

Does Playing Sports Help Your Child Succeed In The Future...
Dear Parents/Guardians of students in Amery School District,
Some think that competitive sports are bad or almost terrible for kids while others think it is an
opportunity for children. It is clear that sports are good for young adults because it can help them
be more successful in school and in the future because there will be pressure. One reason is that
children tend to do better academically when they are in a competitive sport. A paragraph from the
article Does playing sports as a child help you become successful in life? By Matthew Edward
Simco a professional athlete explains how children do better academically when involved in
sports. He explains The obvious and most stated reason why playing sports helps you in life is

The majority of jobs involve working with other people. If a child develops good teamwork and
leadership skills early on in life, he/she will be better off later in life when it matters most. This
suggests that by playing sports teenagers can learn to be leaders and working hard in school
(2016). In addition, an experienced sports coach wrote the article How Sports can Help Your
Child Succeed in the Future in this article he found a survey that Minnesota State High School
League study took. He states As kids get a little older . . . the correlation between sport and
success becomes more palpable. A Minnesota State High School League study found that student
athletes are more than twice as likely to graduate than non athletes. They also showed to have a
higher average GPA (2.84) than non athletes (2.68,) and were absent from school fewer days per
year. This supports the idea that teens that are involved in sports have a higher grade point
average or have higher grades than non athletic teens, so those teens that are in sports will have a
chance of receiving scholarships. (2014) Likewise, Steve Silverman wrote the article, How Do

Rhetorical Analysis On Got Milk
Got Milk? We see advertisement everywhere from left right. Ads are seen on devices and while
just driving around. Advertisements are used to get people to purchase a product. Got milk was

advertising agency Goodby Silverstein Partners. Got milk ads have many inspirational celebrities
to model their company. Such as famous singers, dancers, athletes, actors, talk show host, and
models. I m analyzing a got milk ad of Hayden Panettiere from 2007. The ad s strategy is to show
how each celebrity drinks milk. The ad plays an audience towards teens, both boys and girls by

confidence and seriousness because she drinks milk. Hayden is a good role model and a public
figure to teens because of her beauty and health. If she drinks milk, then you should too. But
why did the company choose Hayden to model their ad. Hayden has been famous since she was
a child and she grew up healthy. She also supported 15 different charities such as African
Wildlife foundation, stand up to cancer, save the whales, K9 connection, etc. She is also a good
advocator and she is known as a hero on TV shows and in real life. Hayden is an animal right

be there physically, making a difference. This shows that Hayden is good role model because she
actively and effectively participates in what she believes in. When teens find out more of the good
things of what she does and looks at this ad. Teens will feel motivated to be just like her and take
action. But first they need to drink milk in order to accomplish many things that she

(Boyd, 2000) Another trend is the growing demand for scrap metal. In 1994 prices jumped from
50 170$ per ton with 10 percent of scrap metal being exported to offshore customers according to
metalprices.com. Now currently scrap metal is near $300/ton. This makes it more expensive for steel
companies like Nucor to buy back the steel and recycle it.
Other notable trends involve European production as well as new Antidumping rulings.
Industry Key success factors
To be successful in the steel industry a company must be very innovative and able to differentiate
their products from the next guy. Steel is steel and it is not important as to how it is packaged or
how it looks but whether it serves the customer s needs. In order to be successful production must
be efficient, delivery must be on time, and innovation is the key.
Competition
Being a steel manufacturer there is a lot of competition that Nucor faces. U.S. Steel and Alcoa are
two large competitors with similar financial figures and both are ranked between 100 and 200 on
the Fortune 500 company list. Below are some financial ratio comparisons between Nucor and these

The Importance Of Management Courses On Corporate Training
The Importance of Management Courses
One of the best ways to transform an organisation is through corporate training. Corporate training,
particularly for managers, is the ideal way to develop and implement strategies and incorporate
structure and standardisation. Managers who are well trained are better at making decisions, more
productive, and notably astute at enhancing their employees professional growth and development.
Continuous training helps managers feel more equipped to do their jobs and more confident in
their ability to carry out the company s mission and values.
Improve Self Awareness
Studies have found that self awareness is a necessary skill for managers to succeed. Managers that
are self aware are more in tune with their staff, more adept at recognising inefficient processes, and
highly effective overall. Self awareness helps managers see their own strengths and weaknesses and
achieve their goals quickly. Since employees are often a reflection of their management, managers
that are self aware will also have more self aware staff.
On the contrary, managers who are not self aware are a workplace hazard. They can compromise
their team s performance and abilities. Moreover, they do not realise the impact that their
communication and strategies have on others. Limited awareness can cause significant employee
dissatisfaction and ultimately lead to high attrition.
Fortunately, courses can help managers become more self aware and insightful. Management

Sole Proprietorship And Limited Liability Company
Sole Proprietorship and Limited Liability Company For the past two years, Acme has been
working out of the owner s garage as a sole proprietorship. Which means there is one entity and
there is no separation of the company and the owner. The sole proprietorship and the owner are
one and the same meaning the business is not taxed but rather it is the owner s income. The sole
proprietorship is the least expensive to form. This type of entity has disadvantages of the owner
being liable for all the debts of the company. Another disadvantage is the owner has to sign all
contracts in their name which makes them personally liable for any legal action that could incur.

My Love For Science
Nothing had influenced my life more than the beauty of science. The subject is just so fascinating
and really catches my eye as it helps explain virtually everything around me, it helps me understand
why such things are. It is extremely captivating and always makes me eager for more learning and
understanding. However, the real experience lies in the unknown, the regions of sciencewhere
research stills needs to be done, where more understanding needs to occur, where science can be
used for the well being of the planet.
Since the summer of 2011, I have been deeply in love with the beauty known as science. During
that summer, I was introduced to the environmental/biological sciences at a summer camp which
left a deep impact on me. I carried these learnings to my fifth grade year in which science and
college were introduced to me, and with this knowledge, I made two goals that I have left my older
self: to become a sort of scientist that will contribute to the world and to get into a dream
university. From then, I have known that my destiny was a science related one (I didn t know
exactly what type at that point, only that it would be done). Then came middle school in which I
went to a school focused on environmental sciences, this is the place where my love for science
was cemented as I learned about all types of sciences and got to understand them in depth or for the
first time in my life. I also learned about opportunities that could further me in my quest to complete

The Importance Of Cultural Literacy
Cultural literacy is not a well known word in today s society but being culturally literate is
essential to be an active participant in one s nation. Cultural literacy is the ability to understand a
culture enough to be able to participate in it actively. In modern society, a large portion of
Americans, especially in the younger generations, are not culturally literate and this poses a
problem for the future of our community and our economy.
Often fads are the defining points of recent cultural changes for example in the 70 s the hippie
movement was a defining portion of American culture and even global culture. If someone did not
understand that reference in that time, they would be unable to follow media, news, and possibly
even everyday interaction. By examining the economic trends of manias, one seeks to gain a
deeper understanding of how they affect our culture on a deeper level. As the very nature of fads
is to have an unexplained and short lived popularity predicting economic trends of crazes is very
nearly impossible to do accurately although there have been attempts to model fads (Plott and
Smith). This can have a devastating effect on the economy and at the very least severely hurt
individual investors. When the demand for certain fads becomes uncontrollable, they may cause an
economic bubble to form. A financial bubble is when the price of an object dramatically outweighs
its actual value (Singh) an example of this is the demand for twinkies during the Hostess

programmability.
Around the end of the 10th century, the French monk Gerbert d Aurillac brought back from Spain
the drawings of a machine invented by the Moors that answered either Yes or No to the questions it
was asked.[9] Again in the 13th century, the monks Albertus Magnus andRoger Bacon built talking

Effects Of American Identity
American Identity Since the time of the American Revolution, people always asking What is an
American? Today, Americans tend to believe the religion and the politics of government have had
the biggest impacted on American identity because it has introduced a new system structure
nations, cultures, and the Enlightenment s ideas to form the United States. Let s back to the early
1600s, after the Columbus s voyage came to the New World, most all the European nations began
to proceed colonized the Native American by force, invading their lands, inter married with the
native women, create the Empire on the American continent. But, the main point that European
came to the New World is spreading their religion, they tried to convert the native into Christianity.
This caused more tension between the native and the white people. According by William

withal, their arrows came flying amongst them...Thus it pleased God to vanquish their enemies
and give them deliverance; and by His special providence so to dispose that not any of them were

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Parliamentary Government
A parliamentary government is a democratic form of government which operates on a party
system. It is the most popular and widely adopted form of democracy. A state that operates on a
parliamentary system is run by two executives, firstly the head of state who is either a monarch or
president who then appoints a prime minister as the head of government. A parliament can be run
by either a single majority political party or as a coalition governmentin which more than one party
collaborate to form the government. In this essay I will be assessing the key strengths and
weaknesses associated with a parliamentary government. In doing so I will conclude that whilst a
parliamentary government has weaknesses its strengths outweigh these and therefore it is the
superior form of democratic government.
As the most widely adopted form of democratic government there are many strengths associated
with a parliamentary government. The parliamentary system is often praised for the fast and
efficient way in which it is able to pass legislation. The reason this is possible is because unlike a
presidential system the legislative and executive power in a parliamentary system are merged
together. Due to this fusion of power legislation does not have to undergo a lengthy process and
therefore laws can be formulated and put into place much quicker(Bates, 1986: 114 5). Another
advantage of a parliamentary system is that the majority of the power is not held by one
individual head of state but rather is more evenly divided among a single party or coalition. One
of the main benefits of this is that as there is more of a division of power a parliamentary
government is less prone to authoritarianism than a presidential system. Juan Linz argues that a
presidential system is more dangerous due to the fact that; Winners and losers are sharply defined
for the entire period of the presidential mandate (Linz, 1990: 56), this sharp line between winners
and losers increases tension between these two groups and allows the winner to isolate themselves
from other political parties (Linz, 1990: 56). Due to this tension and isolation a presidential system
is at a higher risk of turning into an authoritarian regime than a parliamentary system.

The Pros And Cons Of Inequality
Equality and justice are core values in modern democracies. Yet, we curiously accept massive levels
of inequality. In fact, there are numerous reasons why countries accept or even promote economic
inequality. In this paper, I will argue that everyone has a right to benefit from their own labour. And,
it follows from this right that governments should act against inequalityonly to raise the neediest
above a level of subsistence.
In Canada, the richest 20% own over 70% of total wealth while the bottom 20% own less than 1%.
This has important implications according to many experts, including epidemiologist Richard
Wilkinson. His research reveals a strong connection between inequality and social problems such as
mental illness, drug addiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This argument has two sides to it. Firstly, that inequality causes major social problems. But
correlation does not always imply causation. The best performing countries on Wilkinson s index
of health and social problems, while relatively equal, all are measured as the happiest countries in
the world with strong community spirit. Inequality and social problems are likely to be symptoms
rather than causes of countries lacking this cooperative attitude. The second side to the argument is
that inequality is itself unjust. However, few philosophers would claim justice or fairness relates
only to equality. There must also be an element of need or merit. Some people are simply more
deserving. Ability or willingness to work hard contributes to this merit. Additionally, not everyone
requires the same resources to achieve the same standard of living. For instance, housing and
transportation is likely costlier for someone living in Toronto compared to suburban Ontario. In this
sense, justice may not only tolerate, but require

Labor Unions Affect Employees On Employees
Labor unions are formed in order to help workers protect his/ her rights as an employee and help
the employees stand up for his/ her best interest in regards to his/ her employment with a
company. Unions are mostly organized to help the employees and are beneficial to employees
in many different ways. Labor unions affect employees in a variety of different ways, but the
most common and beneficial way is by providing members with a collective voice at work
(Zullo, 2011, p. 699). Unions are about the employees working together to get the best pay,
benefits, and working conditions possible whether the employees have to just simply ask the
management or if the employees have to go on strike before the management will consider the
opinions and concerns of the employees. However, once one understands what a union is and
how all the members work together to achieve the goal, one can comprehend the benefits and
expectations of a unionized workforce and gain knowledge to help fully identify and recognize
how unions affect the employees. The first statement analyzed was unions are a big help to
workers. I agree with this statement and after further research, I still rated it a four. The main goal
of a union is to help the employees be satisfied with his/ her job and the union allows the
employees to speak openly about issues that keep their best interest first. Therefore, why wouldn t

The Five Classical Cultures Of Greece, Rome, Greece And Rome
When it comes to culture, politics, and society, the five classical civilizations of Greece, Rome,
Persia, India, and China were similar in ways, but also different which made each its own.
Let s talk about Culture first. Religion and its importance is one that most classical civilizations had
in common, but they each also had their own uniqueness. The Greece culture valued education, and
placed emphasis on the importance of human effort. Celebration of human individual achievement
and the ideal human form also was a part of their culture. Philosophy and science emphasized the
use of logic. Greece s religion was based on Polytheism, which was the belief in many Gods; with
gods having very human characteristics. Great seafaring skills, centered on Aegean, and highly
developed form of sculpture, literature, math, written language, and record keeping all made the
culture of Greece interesting. Rome s culture was based on art, literature, philosophy, science
derivative from Greece. Superb engineering and architecture techniques; extensive road, sanitation
systems; monumental architecture buildings, aqueducts, bridges. Polytheism, derivative from
Greeks, but religion was not particularly important to the average Roman; However, Christianity
developed during the Empire period, but didn t become dominant until very late.

Wainwright Building
The relationship between form and function had always been the core of Sullivan s career. In his
point of view, anything, whether it is organic or inorganic, could be deemed as the representation of
its content and function, and every particular function has developed its own form. Sullivan explain
this idea by illustrating oak tree in his Kindergarten Charts, he wrote, generally speaking outer
appearances resemble inner purposes. For instances, the form, oak tree, resembles and expresses the
function or purpose, oak (Sullivan, Kindergarten chats). In here, form could be understood as
phenomenon of things, but not just the appearance. In his article, The Tall Office Building

But, actually, what Sullivan really cares about is the form. Otherwise, he would not have this much
thoughts about the relationship between form and function. Sullivan always gives high priority to
architectural form, especially its ornament, but with a kind of ambivalence in his mind. On the one
hand, he believes that architecture could be great without any decoration or ornament. On the other
hand, thoughtful designed ornament is also indispensable to architecture. Finally, he gave the
answer, he thinks particular ornament should be applied on the particular kinds of architecture, just
like different trees have various types of leaves. So, architectural form is not influenced by the
extrinsic factor, but the growth of itself. Now it is understandable why Wainwright Building got
such a luxuriant ornament on its top. Under the eave, the surface between windows are extended,
and sophisticated spiraled leaves surrounds the circular windows. It is just the metaphor of the

Legal Systems Of The English Legal System
The term common law is the name given to legal systems who embrace the English legal system.
Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal
principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal
principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to
establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to
those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent
will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher
courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the
same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University,
2015, p.5)
In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial
verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past
accord. However, another feature of common law would be the doctrine of the suprecemy of the
law, this means that acts of government bodies are subject to inquiry in typical legal proceedings.
The latin phrase of stare decisis (let the decision stand) is used in Judicial precedents, which in turn,
means that the earlier verdicts of the highest court in the jurisdictions, as therefore binding on all
other courts. (The

Comparing The Infamy And Controversy Of The Sex Pistols
The Infamy and Controversy of The Sex Pistols Although the infamous band, The Sex Pistols,

The Sex Pistols to stir controversy in the media. From the beginning of their existence, the media
portrayed them as no good punk anarchists. As documented in the film, The Filth and The Fury by
Julien Temple, it is clear why 1970 s conservative Britain would have an issue with the band. For

Their fashion choices gave everyone another reason to talk about them. The media was putting
money in their pockets and helping them get their message across. The band members also got a
kick out of the anti punk headlines, no doubt. In some ways, the media was correct. The band
encouraged violence at their shows, Sid Vicious was even known to cut himself on stage

corrupting the youth of Britain was a bit ridiculous. Parents protested outside venues, saying they
would do whatever it takes to keep The Sex Pistols from playing, including using violence if
necessary (Gildart 136 137). Due to the protests and uproar that was caused, the band only ended
up playing 5 out of the scheduled 27 shows on their Anarchy tour. (Gildart 130). What the public

One of the most important components for the movie is aesthetic. The reason is that aesthetic can
create atmosphere and mood. Especially, one of the most famous Hong kong director Wong Kar

The Third Movement Of Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach lived in Leipzig from 1723 until his death in 1750. In Leipzig, he was the
music director of the Collegium Musicum, which presented a series of evening concerts that
brought visitors and musical talent to the city. An example of the repertoire presented in these
concerts would be Bach s harpsichord concertos, which were arrangements of other concertos for
different instruments. According to Pankratz, these concertos (both for the original instrument and
harpsichord) were written with didactic purposes, meaning that they were supposed to help the
students improve their musical skills. Following Pankratz s idea of Bach being a music director
with instructive goals, this paper suggests that the third movement of the Harpsichord Concerto
No.5 in F minor, BWV 1056 by Johann Sebastian Bachis a prime example of his pedagogic
influence in Leipzig, represented by the constant interaction between the soloist and the ripieno.
This is symbolic of the teacher student relation Bach had with the students, as he would often be
the solo performer in the evening concerts and the students would play the ripieno parts.
The interaction between the soloist and the ripieno comes in various forms: advanced counterpoint,
dynamics, dialogue, and/or harmonic changes. The work features three ritornello themes in which
we find all these interactions. The first theme (R1) is the main theme and it is four measures long.

The Fight Between Male And Female Manager
Regardless of the amount we adore our jobs, the greater part of us can hardly wait to get past the

assignments before the end of the day. In any case, on the off chance that you have a female
manager, then risks are you might find that additional inspiration to build your efficiency.
In the fight between a male versus female manager, you may expect that a male supervisor may be
superior at running the show, since guys are frequently seen as natural born leaders. Individuals
who act in ways that are incongruent with their sex role tend to be evaluated negatively (Eagly and
Karau, 2002). This incongruity can create problems for female managers because characteristics
necessary to be a successful leader are more frequently associated with the male gender role
(Elsesser and Lever, 2014). In the United States today, females from one perspective are
commended as having the right blend of abilities for initiative, yielding unrivaled leadership styles
and extraordinary efficiency. Then again, there seems, by all accounts, to be across the board
acknowledgment that ladies regularly come in second to men in rivalries to achieve leadership
positions. Females are still depicted as struggling for access to leadership positions and in addition
prejudice and resistance when they occupy these roles.

and against acceptable social dictums. From Proulx s strongly descriptive language, to (2005) s use
of various landscape shots, the audience is able to relate issues and themes to the characters. The

Throughout both the film and the short story, significant settings help tell the audience about
Jack and Ennis relationship. Proulx allows her characters to range far and wide, but there s
always an intense combination of beauty and loneliness wherever they go. Brokeback Mountain
itself is always defined by the great flowery Meadows and the coursing, endless wind (9), while
the lavender sky emptied of colour and the chill air drained down (23), but still when Jack and
Ennis first arrived, they where detached from the beauty and dwelling in their own loneliness.
Just like Brokeback Mountain, Ennis and Jacks love for one another is raw and beautiful, but
also lonely, just like the isolation experienced initially on the mountain. This is a place without a
lot of people, and even seems fairly indifferent to the presence of people. Brokeback Mountain
was never revisited by the characters, although it was always spoken about and planned to be
revisited, suggesting that in the end, it was a place of escape, a safe place that will always
remained, in Jack and Ennis mind untouched and remains beautiful holding special memories. The
use of Proulx s descriptive language of settings and Lee s (2005) panoramic landscape shots, allows
the audience to gasp at the beauty of locations that the characters have visited, allowing the
audience to connect to the location and events that are

To Write Love On Her Arms Analysis
Summary: Staples states that grace is both underserving, and absolutely needed for humankind.
Grace is not something that people ask for, or something that people can repay, but nonetheless
people receive it from God. The whole bible is about grace, but when Jesus came into the picture it
showed Christians what grace actually looked like. In Greek, grace is closely to related to the word
gift, likewise grace is a gift. Because grace is apart of God, it is not something that anyone can
predict or even get use to. Staples also points out that there are not different types of grace. It is a
never ending cycle freely given by God.
Staples addresses that works should not be misunderstood by the salvation doctrine. Just because

If I am so focused on being right in my beliefs, that I forget to focus on Jesus then I have missed the
whole point. I know that I ll never know everything, but if I m focused on loving God and others
then I achieved the main point. There is a non profit organization called To Write Loveon Her Arms
that I think embodies some of the love the McKnight mentioned. This organization was founded
by a follower of Jesus who, in order to show love to his broken friend, launched this pro love
organization. They help people of all backgrounds, in various mental health and addiction
problems. They provide a judgment free place for people to heal. For me, Jesus is like this
organization. Someone who is pro love, no matter the background or problem. He provides the
ultimate place of ultimate healing. He is someone, who unlike the religious leaders of his time,
helps everyday people carry out the laws. Jesus commands two things: love God and love others.
When I go on my Argentina SIMS trip this summer, I hope I am remembered by my love. Not my
knowledge of memorized scriptures from bible quizzing days, nor my ability to always say the
right things, but by my love. My family has given me great guide lines on loving people. My
mother has taught me to give love to others, and my father has taught me how to receive love I
know I do not deserve. Giving love to others, however, can be way more difficult than it seems.
Even though I know that Jesus kingdom is a kingdom of love, some days it feels like people are
trying to make it hard to love them. When this happens, it is refreshing to realize that even when
I mess up one of only two of Jesus commands, I am still fully loved by Him. It is refreshing to
know, in that same manner, when other people have trouble showing love to me, I am still loved by

Examples Of Contrapasso In The Divine Comedy
The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is a deeply symbolic and allegorical poem. In it, Dante
describes the afterlife and how souls are judged and placed in Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Souls
typically are judged on whatever their most prominent sins are, and placed in the appropriate circle
of Hell or terrace of Purgatory. In The Divine Comedy, Dante illustrates that it is the choices that
one makes while on Earth that determines where one will be placed in the afterlife through his
descriptions of the punishments of Helland Purgatory. However, the mercy of God also allows for
repentance and a greater chance to go to Heaven which is symbolized by Dante s entire journey
through the afterlife and the very fact that Purgatory exists. The justice... Show more content on

Contrapasso is, in a sense, a way to make the punishment fit the crime. In every circle of the Inferno
, the sin that is punished is related to the punishment the sinners receive. For instance, in the
Second Circle, the lustful are inside of a tempest which drives on the spirits with its violence:
wheeling and pounding, it harasses them (Inf. 5. 32 33). This whirlwind symbolizes the
restlessness within lustful sinners, guided by the desires of the flesh. They are battered by the
storm which illustrates the hurt that can come from lust instead of the joy that comes from true
love. In the Fourth Circle, the avaricious and prodigal are forced to roll weights, lamenting their
sins. The weights of the avaricious are rolled in the opposite direction of those of the prodigal and
when they strike each other, they turn around and continue pushing the weights. The pointlessness
of pushing the weights indicates how meaningless it is to be greedy and spend life looking only
towards material fortune. Both the punishments for the lustful and the greedy represent the
lifestyles of these sinners. The sinners understand what they wrong as the greedy yell out Why do
you hoard? Why do you squander? (Inf. 7.30). The sinners are punished appropriately for their sins
and made to understand that their choices in life were

This is where it all started when Steve Wozniak became fascinated with electronics. He was born
August 11, 1950 and raised in San Jose, California. Steve Wozniak is pictured here with his family,
his mother Margaret Wozniak, sister Leslie Wozniak, and his brother Mark Wozniak.
After Steve Wozniakgraduated high school he got accepted into the University of California,
Berkeley to major in computer science. He ended up postponing getting his degree to take on a job

The next computer to take on Apple is the Apple II. It wasn t shortly after the Apple II was created
both Wozniak and Jobs left Apple.
Before leaving Apple, Steve Wozniak decided to fly a plane with his fiancГ©, her brother and his
girlfriend. The plane actually crashed when taking off because it stalled, which then caused it to
bounced down the runway through fences and into an embarkment. Everyone that was on the plane
did sustain injuries. Wozniak s injuries were so severe he came down with amnesia. This caused
him to not remember the crash, being in the hospital or anything after that.
After leave Apple in 1987, Steve Wozniak began a company called CL9. Here he created the very
first universal remote control. Wozniak kept this company running for three years, until everything
became more technical.
Steve Wozniak is not just a genius who created two computers that changed the world. He
performed on dancing with the stars season 8 in 2009. While performing he pulled his hamstring

Summary Of Hamdi V. Rumsfeld
1.Background a.Hamdi v. Rumsfeld (2004) b.Yaser Esam Hamdi is an American citizen born in
Louisiana in 1980. In 2001, Hamdi was captured by the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and turned
over to the United States as an enemy combatant. The United States government detained and
interrogated Hamdi in Afghanistan until they moved him to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S.
government found out that Hamdi was an American citizen and transferred him to a brig in
Norfolk, Virginia and then later to a brig in Charleston, South Carolina. The government labeled
Hamdi as an enemy combatant and said that justified the holding of Hamdi indefinitely without
any formal charges. The injury suffered by Hamdi is that he has been interrogated and being held
in prison indefinitely with no formal charge. Along with that, Hamdi had not been granted any of
his rights as an American citizen. In June 2002, Esam Fouad Hamdi, Yaser Hamdi s father filed a
petition for a writ of habeas corpus in a federal district court. The district court appointed a public
defender to Hamdi and ordered for him to have access to Hamdi, so the government appealed to the
U.S. Court of Appeals. The U.S. Court of Appeals sided with the government stating that the district
court had failed to respect the government s security. The case then went back to the district court,
where the decision was that the evidence set forth by the government was not enough to detain
Hamdi. The district court then reversed its ruling because

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare That time of year thou mayst in me behold (Sonnet 73)
The sonnet, originating in Italy, was formed by Francesco Petrarch. The Petrarchan sonnet,
originally consisting of two quatrains and a couplet, was soon brought to England where William
Shakespeare took an interest in this unknown form of poetry. Shakespeare revised the sonnet so it
consisted of three quatrains with the rhyming scheme of abab cdcd efef and a rhyming couplet at
the end. This revised sonnet was then referred to as a Shakespearean sonnet. Shakespeare wrote in
total 154 sonnets originating in the early 1590 s, many of his sonnets were linked together.
Sonnets 71 74 are linked by the subject of the speaker s projected death and self pity, the ... Show

When it s written sunset fadeth in the west this is when the poet s last breath leaves him leading
into the second quatrain.
Within the second quatrain, blackness is essential when it comes to the imagery. When it is
written which by and by black night doth take away , black night is a metaphor for death itself.
As the black night closes around day so does it close around the life of the poet. When death s
second self is mentioned it relates to shakespeare s earlier work of Macbeth when Macbeth himself
says sleep is the death of each day s life . This shows that shakespeare uses the common theme of
death throughout his works.
The third quatrain, filled with pathos and marvelous metaphors, evokes the image of fading coals
in the ashes of youth along with an abundance of imagery. The persona, once plentiful with life
and love, now is feeding of off his foreseeable death. The ashes can also refer
to the personas youth, one that is fading and no longer exists in his eyes. The poet no longer has
inspiration so he relies on the memory of his youth and is consumed by the loss of it. The sonnet
turns into more of a pitiful plea at the end begging for his lost youth as he is fading into oblivion.
He wishes to be remembered in the favorable light of his youth, not in the state in which he depicts
himself throughout the poem. The poet hates the way time has ravaged him mentally and
physically. This last pitiful part of the

  • 2. A Correlation Between Telomere Length And Chronic Disease During each and every cell replication, chromosomes shrink by a small, but noticeable amount. Because of this, telomeres cap the ends to protect the coding regions of the chromosomes. With each generation of DNA, more and more of the telomere disappears. An enzyme slowly rebuilds them, but it cannot keep up with the degradation during chromosome replication. Eventually the shortened telomeres cause the cell to go through apoptosis (Pierce 2014). Because telomeres are one cause of cell death, it is hypothesized that telomere size can determine the health and age of an individual. Research has shown a correlation between telomere length and chronic disease. Those with chronic diseases usually have significantly shorter telomeres. This raises... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Telomeres are related to so many different aspects of our bodies because they play a key role in protecting our genetic make up. They are important structures in every cell of our body. Because of their role, their effect spreads well beyond that of simply protecting chromosomes. Structure and Function Telomeres make up the tips of linear chromosomes and function to protect and stabilize the chromosomes from degradation (Pierce 2014). There are other functions, but the primary one is protection. At each replication, DNA shortens by just a few base pairs due to the nature of replication in eukaryotes (who have linear chromosomes). The two strands of DNA are synthesized at different rates, creating a leading strand and a lagging strand. The leading strand is replicated quickly and fluidly in a 5 to 3 direction, as seen in Image 1. The lagging strand is replicated in a backstitch patter. Primers are placed along the DNA strand and DNA polymerase replaces them with segments of DNA. It can only do this, though, if a 3 OH group is present. The 3 OH group precedes the primer, and would sit just to the right of the green primers in Image 1. No 3 OH group would be present at the end of the chromosome because it only exists on one side of the primer. The area where the primer is sitting would not be replicated, and thus the DNA would shorten. Tandem sequences of noncoding DNA sit at the ends of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The more times I write an essay, the better I get at them. Even from the very beginning of my English career, I have always had to work on improving from my mistakes. Throughout the semester, I have realized that I have a problem with pronoun antecedent agreements. In the past, I was not aware of pronoun antecedent agreement problems in my papers. I had never been taught that if I have a singular noun I need to use he or she to make the noun and pronoun agree. Now, after writing essays over and over, I can pick out my mistakes and fix them so that my pronoun and antecedent agree with each other. Over the course of the semester, I have improved greatly throughout my three papers on my problems with pronoun antecedent agreement. The considerable effects of this issue have raised huge concerns among policymakers, governments, and the public. As a result, various initiatives have been developed in attempts to lessen global warming or climate change, especially those related to reducing the emission of greenhouse gases to the Earth s atmosphere. Governments across the globe including the United Kingdom government have adopted various policies that focus on dealing with the issue. There are various policies that help in dealing with the issue including lessening greenhouse gases emissions, adapting to the effects of climate change, and geo engineering of the climate system. • 6. Reflection Of Japanese Immersion Individual Reflection Japan Immersion Benjamin Franklin said once, An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. This summer I had the opportunity to invest in my professional knowledge as an international business woman, and I agree that such investment will pay the best interest. I participated in the Japan immersion program from the College of Business which allowed me to grow as a professional by expanding my perspective on the difficult process of starting a business in a foreign country in which you are not familiar with. Additionally, I developed a greater ability to adapt to a different culture beyond my already current adaptability as an international student. And Finally, I understood the process of preparation for doing international business to be well informed of their culture and how to incorporate it as a competitive advantage when trying to do business with them. First, the immersion program contributed to my professional development by allowing me to be confident in the future to be chosen as the lead or a member team to start a business in a foreign country. During the immersion, I was introduced to the ideologies and strategies foreign companies develop to bring their product to the United States, and the Resources that are available for those companies, as well as foreign companies wanting to start a business in Japan. For example for United States companies wanting to start to do business within the Japanese market they have resources such as Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), an independent government agency designed to help navigate international companies with the regulations and tax laws of countries around the world needed to succeed on an international business. In addition there is also the opportunity of partnering with Japanese companies to learn about the specific market from the insiders. In addition, some research parks corporations, like the Kyoto Research Park, to which I was able to visit during the Immersion, provide companies with Office spaces, safety, amenities, and support for startup business that can be beneficial for foreign companies. • 19. The Importance Of Management Courses On Corporate Training The Importance of Management Courses One of the best ways to transform an organisation is through corporate training. Corporate training, particularly for managers, is the ideal way to develop and implement strategies and incorporate structure and standardisation. Managers who are well trained are better at making decisions, more productive, and notably astute at enhancing their employees professional growth and development. Continuous training helps managers feel more equipped to do their jobs and more confident in their ability to carry out the company s mission and values. Improve Self Awareness Studies have found that self awareness is a necessary skill for managers to succeed. Managers that are self aware are more in tune with their staff, more adept at recognising inefficient processes, and highly effective overall. Self awareness helps managers see their own strengths and weaknesses and achieve their goals quickly. Since employees are often a reflection of their management, managers that are self aware will also have more self aware staff. On the contrary, managers who are not self aware are a workplace hazard. They can compromise their team s performance and abilities. Moreover, they do not realise the impact that their communication and strategies have on others. Limited awareness can cause significant employee dissatisfaction and ultimately lead to high attrition. Fortunately, courses can help managers become more self aware and insightful. In modern society, a large portion of Americans, especially in the younger generations, are not culturally literate and this poses a problem for the future of our community and our economy. Often fads are the defining points of recent cultural changes for example in the 70 s the hippie movement was a defining portion of American culture and even global culture. If someone did not understand that reference in that time, they would be unable to follow media, news, and possibly even everyday interaction. By examining the economic trends of manias, one seeks to gain a deeper understanding of how they affect our culture on a deeper level. As the very nature of fads is to have an unexplained and short lived popularity predicting economic trends of crazes is very nearly impossible to do accurately although there have been attempts to model fads (Plott and Smith). This can have a devastating effect on the economy and at the very least severely hurt individual investors. When the demand for certain fads becomes uncontrollable, they may cause an economic bubble to form. A financial bubble is when the price of an object dramatically outweighs its actual value (Singh) an example of this is the demand for twinkies during the Hostess ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Parliamentary Government A parliamentary government is a democratic form of government which operates on a party system. It is the most popular and widely adopted form of democracy. A state that operates on a parliamentary system is run by two executives, firstly the head of state who is either a monarch or president who then appoints a prime minister as the head of government. A parliament can be run by either a single majority political party or as a coalition governmentin which more than one party collaborate to form the government. In this essay I will be assessing the key strengths and weaknesses associated with a parliamentary government. In doing so I will conclude that whilst a parliamentary government has weaknesses its strengths outweigh these and therefore it is the superior form of democratic government. As the most widely adopted form of democratic government there are many strengths associated with a parliamentary government. The parliamentary system is often praised for the fast and efficient way in which it is able to pass legislation. The reason this is possible is because unlike a presidential system the legislative and executive power in a parliamentary system are merged together. Due to this fusion of power legislation does not have to undergo a lengthy process and therefore laws can be formulated and put into place much quicker(Bates, 1986: 114 5). Another advantage of a parliamentary system is that the majority of the power is not held by one individual head of state but rather is more evenly divided among a single party or coalition. One of the main benefits of this is that as there is more of a division of power a parliamentary government is less prone to authoritarianism than a presidential system. Juan Linz argues that a presidential system is more dangerous due to the fact that; Winners and losers are sharply defined for the entire period of the presidential mandate (Linz, 1990: 56), this sharp line between winners and losers increases tension between these two groups and allows the winner to isolate themselves from other political parties (Linz, 1990: 56). Due to this tension and isolation a presidential system is at a higher risk of turning into an authoritarian regime than a parliamentary system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Pros And Cons Of Inequality Equality and justice are core values in modern democracies. Yet, we curiously accept massive levels of inequality. In fact, there are numerous reasons why countries accept or even promote economic inequality. In this paper, I will argue that everyone has a right to benefit from their own labour. And, it follows from this right that governments should act against inequalityonly to raise the neediest above a level of subsistence. In Canada, the richest 20% own over 70% of total wealth while the bottom 20% own less than 1%. This has important implications according to many experts, including epidemiologist Richard Wilkinson. His research reveals a strong connection between inequality and social problems such as mental illness, drug addiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument has two sides to it. Firstly, that inequality causes major social problems. But correlation does not always imply causation. The best performing countries on Wilkinson s index of health and social problems, while relatively equal, all are measured as the happiest countries in the world with strong community spirit. Inequality and social problems are likely to be symptoms rather than causes of countries lacking this cooperative attitude. The second side to the argument is that inequality is itself unjust. However, few philosophers would claim justice or fairness relates only to equality. There must also be an element of need or merit. Some people are simply more deserving. Ability or willingness to work hard contributes to this merit. Additionally, not everyone requires the same resources to achieve the same standard of living. For instance, housing and transportation is likely costlier for someone living in Toronto compared to suburban Ontario. In this sense, justice may not only tolerate, but require ... Originally, it was created as a case law, judge made centered system. It set out to focus on legal principles, which were created by judicial verdict. However, over time the body of the legal principles matured from the courts, as now, when a judge handles a case, they have to set out to establish what the facts are proceeding the case, and how to determine how the law applies to those facts. When making a verdict of how the law applies to set of facts, a system of precedent will be emplaced. In turn, the courts will form a hierarchy, this is because findings of the higher courts bind the lower courts together, thus, meaning that they will both be required to apply the same doctrine of law as the higher court when confronted with similar cases. (The Open University, 2015, p.5) In common law, the distinctive feature is how it represents the law of the courts in judicial verdicts. This is because the grounds for disputing cases are found in precedents given by past accord. However, another feature of common law would be the doctrine of the suprecemy of the law, this means that acts of government bodies are subject to inquiry in typical legal proceedings. Winters is one player that the Jets need to keep as he has turned into one of the top young offensive guards in the NFL. Maccagnan could have some much needed leverage in resigning Winters prior to him hitting free agency. As a consequence of Winters suffering a torn rotator cuff late in the 2016 season, Brian could see his market value affected. Addressing the offensive line s needs is essential for the Jets if they wish to possess a potent offense and a successful quarterback. Notably, New York s quarterbacks endured a total of 35 sacks last season. Owner Woody Johnson has stated that he believes Macaggnan can build a consistent winner and also said the team will build primarily through the draft while finding other players through free agency. Brokeback Mountain Brokeback Mountain, both as a short story (Proulx, 1999), and film (Lee, 2005) explores the notion that the use of various settings to develop issues and themes allow the audience to gain a grater understanding of the characters. Just like the nature that controls the ranch and mountain lifestyle, the force of desire that comes so naturally guides every significant action Ennis and Jack experience in Brokeback Mountain, even when they know the specific actions are against their better judgment and against acceptable social dictums. From Proulx s strongly descriptive language, to (2005) s use of various landscape shots, the audience is able to relate issues and themes to the characters. Throughout both the film and the short story, significant settings help tell the audience about Jack and Ennis relationship. Proulx allows her characters to range far and wide, but there s always an intense combination of beauty and loneliness wherever they go. Brokeback Mountain itself is always defined by the great flowery Meadows and the coursing, endless wind (9), while the lavender sky emptied of colour and the chill air drained down (23), but still when Jack and Ennis first arrived, they where detached from the beauty and dwelling in their own loneliness. Just like Brokeback Mountain, Ennis and Jacks love for one another is raw and beautiful, but also lonely, just like the isolation experienced initially on the mountain. This is a place without a lot of people, and even seems fairly indifferent to the presence of people. Brokeback Mountain was never revisited by the characters, although it was always spoken about and planned to be revisited, suggesting that in the end, it was a place of escape, a safe place that will always remained, in Jack and Ennis mind untouched and remains beautiful holding special memories. The use of Proulx s descriptive language of settings and Lee s (2005) panoramic landscape shots, allows the audience to gasp at the beauty of locations that the characters have visited, allowing the audience to connect to the location and events that are ... • 45. To Write Love On Her Arms Analysis Summary: Staples states that grace is both underserving, and absolutely needed for humankind. Grace is not something that people ask for, or something that people can repay, but nonetheless people receive it from God. The whole bible is about grace, but when Jesus came into the picture it showed Christians what grace actually looked like. In Greek, grace is closely to related to the word gift, likewise grace is a gift. Because grace is apart of God, it is not something that anyone can predict or even get use to. Staples also points out that there are not different types of grace. It is a never ending cycle freely given by God. Staples addresses that works should not be misunderstood by the salvation doctrine. Just because Christians are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I am so focused on being right in my beliefs, that I forget to focus on Jesus then I have missed the whole point. I know that I ll never know everything, but if I m focused on loving God and others then I achieved the main point. There is a non profit organization called To Write Loveon Her Arms that I think embodies some of the love the McKnight mentioned. This organization was founded by a follower of Jesus who, in order to show love to his broken friend, launched this pro love organization. They help people of all backgrounds, in various mental health and addiction problems. They provide a judgment free place for people to heal. For me, Jesus is like this organization. Someone who is pro love, no matter the background or problem. He provides the ultimate place of ultimate healing. He is someone, who unlike the religious leaders of his time, helps everyday people carry out the laws. Jesus commands two things: love God and love others. When I go on my Argentina SIMS trip this summer, I hope I am remembered by my love. Not my knowledge of memorized scriptures from bible quizzing days, nor my ability to always say the right things, but by my love. My family has given me great guide lines on loving people. My mother has taught me to give love to others, and my father has taught me how to receive love I know I do not deserve. Giving love to others, however, can be way more difficult than it seems. Even though I know that Jesus kingdom is a kingdom of love, some days it feels like people are trying to make it hard to love them. When this happens, it is refreshing to realize that even when I mess up one of only two of Jesus commands, I am still fully loved by Him. It is refreshing to know, in that same manner, when other people have trouble showing love to me, I am still loved by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Examples Of Contrapasso In The Divine Comedy The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is a deeply symbolic and allegorical poem. In it, Dante describes the afterlife and how souls are judged and placed in Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Souls typically are judged on whatever their most prominent sins are, and placed in the appropriate circle of Hell or terrace of Purgatory. In The Divine Comedy, Dante illustrates that it is the choices that one makes while on Earth that determines where one will be placed in the afterlife through his descriptions of the punishments of Helland Purgatory. However, the mercy of God also allows for repentance and a greater chance to go to Heaven which is symbolized by Dante s entire journey through the afterlife and the very fact that Purgatory exists. The justice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrapasso is, in a sense, a way to make the punishment fit the crime. In every circle of the Inferno , the sin that is punished is related to the punishment the sinners receive. For instance, in the Second Circle, the lustful are inside of a tempest which drives on the spirits with its violence: wheeling and pounding, it harasses them (Inf. 5. 32 33). This whirlwind symbolizes the restlessness within lustful sinners, guided by the desires of the flesh. They are battered by the storm which illustrates the hurt that can come from lust instead of the joy that comes from true love. In the Fourth Circle, the avaricious and prodigal are forced to roll weights, lamenting their sins. The weights of the avaricious are rolled in the opposite direction of those of the prodigal and when they strike each other, they turn around and continue pushing the weights. The pointlessness of pushing the weights indicates how meaningless it is to be greedy and spend life looking only towards material fortune. Both the punishments for the lustful and the greedy represent the lifestyles of these sinners. The sinners understand what they wrong as the greedy yell out Why do you hoard? Why do you squander? (Inf. 7.30). The sinners are punished appropriately for their sins and made to understand that their choices in life were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2001, Hamdi was captured by the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan and turned over to the United States as an enemy combatant. The United States government detained and interrogated Hamdi in Afghanistan until they moved him to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S. government found out that Hamdi was an American citizen and transferred him to a brig in Norfolk, Virginia and then later to a brig in Charleston, South Carolina. The government labeled Hamdi as an enemy combatant and said that justified the holding of Hamdi indefinitely without any formal charges. The injury suffered by Hamdi is that he has been interrogated and being held in prison indefinitely with no formal charge. Along with that, Hamdi had not been granted any of his rights as an American citizen. In June 2002, Esam Fouad Hamdi, Yaser Hamdi s father filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus in a federal district court. The district court appointed a public defender to Hamdi and ordered for him to have access to Hamdi, so the government appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals. When it s written sunset fadeth in the west this is when the poet s last breath leaves him leading into the second quatrain. Within the second quatrain, blackness is essential when it comes to the imagery. When it is written which by and by black night doth take away , black night is a metaphor for death itself. As the black night closes around day so does it close around the life of the poet. When death s second self is mentioned it relates to shakespeare s earlier work of Macbeth when Macbeth himself says sleep is the death of each day s life . This shows that shakespeare uses the common theme of death throughout his works. The third quatrain, filled with pathos and marvelous metaphors, evokes the image of fading coals in the ashes of youth along with an abundance of imagery. The persona, once plentiful with life and love, now is feeding of off his foreseeable death. The ashes can also refer to the personas youth, one that is fading and no longer exists in his eyes. The poet no longer has inspiration so he relies on the memory of his youth and is consumed by the loss of it. The sonnet turns into more of a pitiful plea at the end begging for his lost youth as he is fading into oblivion. He wishes to be remembered in the favorable light of his youth, not in the state in which he depicts himself throughout the poem. The poet hates the way time has ravaged him mentally and physically.
