Roof Replacement
Determining whether or not a home needs a new roof is not difficult. Homeowners simply have to
look for clues that alert them to issues. When it comes to Roof Replacement Ft Worth residents
just have to look for these clues, call in a professional company such as Greystone Roofing to
check out the roof. They can inspect the roofto see if an entire roof is needed, or if the roof that s on
the roof can be repaired.
Repair or replace
If a few shingles have blown off during a storm, or if there s a small leak in one area, replacing is
an economical option. It also makes the most sense. After all, why incur the expense of installing a
new roof if there are only a couple of shingles that need to be replaced.
In some cases one section of a roof may be damaged. Perhaps, a tree limb has fallen on an area of
the roof which resulted in damage to 1/4 of the roof. This is another time when repairing may be
the more favorable option. However, if the roof is older and will need replacing soon many
homeowners opt for Roof Replacement Ft Worth homeowners choose replacement over repair on
older roofs in order to save money in the long run. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is far from the only sign. After storms, or windy days look around the property for
shingles that have blown off. Look at the roof and inspect it for signs of wear and tear. Look for
rot, mold, and mildew. Also check the gutters for pieces of shingles, or shingle dust. Take a good
look at how the shingles lay on the roof. Buckling shingles, or those that are curling are an
indication that they need to be replaced.
The roof provides an important layer of protection to any home, be sure to keep it in tip top shape.

Bourdieu On Social Class
This essay will look at the conceptual tools that Bourdieu employed to explain the interactions of
class and status on social and economical inequalities. Bourdieu uses conceptual tools that consist
of the notion habitus, and the identification of three forms of capital: economic, cultural, social
and the concept of field. Bourdieu (1930 2002) was interested in the systems that society used to
reproduce, and the economic and social factors that permitted the stability of class. Unlike Marx,
Bourdieu, alike Weber, believed that the exploited and exploiter dichotomy could not be explained
by economics alone. Bourdieu s theory on social class mirrors much of Weber s theory of the
influence of non economic subjective factors such as status, knowledge,... Show more content on

Firstly, economic capital is defined by Marx and Weber as the economic assets held by an
individual, such as property and labour (Bourdieu, 1986 p.46). Secondly, cultural capital refers to
non economical social assets that promote social mobility, these assets can include, education,
intellect and credentials which operate as resources similar to that of economic capital, to create
class hierarchies based on status (Bourdieu, 1986 pp.47 48). Cultural capital has three subtypes,
embodied, objectified and institutionalised. Embodied cultural capital consists of elements that
have been passively inherited or consciously acquired, such as an accent or dialect. Objectified
cultural capital consists of ownership of physical objects that can be transmitted both for
economic and cultural capital, owning a luxury car or painting collection are examples of
objectified cultural capital. Lastly institutionalised cultural capital, involves credentials and
qualifications which can be a representation of an individual cultural competence and authority
(Bourdieu, 1986 pp.50 51). Thirdly, social capital refers to an array of social networks such as
friends, memberships and groups formed consciously or unconsciously (Bourdieu, 1986 pp.51 52).
These networks are highly important and are representative of a social position. For example, the
Old Boy s Union is a deliberate cultivation of social networks within the educational sphere, that are
nearly exclusively composed of the dominant/bourgeoisies class. This hierarchical social network
then provides enhanced access and opportunities to a range of highly sought after social positions

Critical Criticism Of Dr Faustus
Often a hero is thought to be simple, with few complexities that hinder them within a story.
Although the typical hero is not one filled with desires for darkness, the qualities and actions of
the tragic hero, Dr. Faustus , are considered to be dark and internal dilemmas. Though he has
obtained expansive knowledge through studying, for him the world s knowledge is not enough.
Consequently, in his quest for more knowledge at the price of his soul, he in turn had to be
constrained to the views of the people at the time. Marlowe s character, Dr. Faustus ,
dissatisfaction and boredom with the bounds of his knowledge not only complicates his character,
but hints at the author s criticism of the beliefs of his time. All of the knowledge in the world is
not enough to satisfy Dr. Faustus. Within the first couple of lines in scene one Faustus states to
himself Then read no more, thou has attained the end; A greater subject fitteth Faustus wit. (scene
1 lines 10 1) With this statement he acknowledges Aristotle s wisdom, but claims to have grown
tired of it and craves to excel past the renowned philosopher. His brashness exhibits not only his
smugness, but reinforces that he is an educated Doctor. Although Faustus is an educated man, it is
odd how he became bored of ideas that are still studied in depth today. Which then begs the
question, if Dr. Faustus is unsatisfied then does that make him a fool who only reads the surface, or
is this scene a statement by Marlowe? First, it

The City Of Angkor And The Khmer Army
The City of Angkor
The City of Angkor was part of the Khmer Empire which was located in Southeastern Asia and
there was a civilisation there between the 9th and 15th centuries AD. The City of Angkor started to
decline in the late 14th century AD then eventually collapsed in the 15th century AD. There are a
variety of things that can be learnt about the City of Angkor and the Khmer and Cham armies
fighting methods through the bas reliefs from the Bayon. There are also many different reasons for
the decline of the City of Angkor which include the fact that they people couldn t battle drought and
how much they over worked the land.

sources also provide evidence of what the fighting methods where of the Khmer and Cham armies

Khmer forces fighting on foot but also show them fighting on elephants. The soldiers would also

Women s Contribution to the War Effort and Their Gain in...
Women s Contribution to the War Effort and Their Gain in Voting Rights
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918. There were a number of reasons for this but mainly
because of women s contribution to the war effort. I will be looking at these different reasons and
writing about how everything came together for the vote for women. I will start by looking at what
the women did in the war.
Women were pleased by the outbreak of the war because this meant they could prove themselves
and even get suffrage at the end of it all. Women thought this was a patriotic duty and wanted to
prove they were indispensable. So many men had been called away to fight that women were
needed to do their jobs. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to this there were major effects on the way men thought about women.
There were many effects that were caused by the war. Politicians like Asquith and Lloyd George
changed their mind about women because of the way women handled affairs while men were
giving women the vote in 1918. Old arguments about women being weak had been disproved by
women during the war. Parliament had to change the voting system so that all soldiers could vote.
In 1913 nearly half of all men still could not vote. There were other factors of why women over 30
gained the vote in 1918.
Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 not only because of women s contribution to the war;
there were a few other reasons for women over 30 gaining the vote in 1918. After the war all men
were getting the vote so it was more difficult to ignore the women. The government thought that the
women s suffrage organisation would cease this opportunity to cause a revolution and unsettle
Britain, but this wasn t the case and it impressed the government at how co operative women were
being. In 1915 the government realised it had a problem. The old voting system demanded that
voters live on the same place for the twelve months before an election. So if there were to be an
election during the war, most soldiers would not be

The Theory Of Free Market Economics
When I came back to Oregon after spending four years in the Marine Corps, I quickly became
interested in politics. In 2013 I was introduced to the concepts of free market economics, a system
where the consumer decides the prices of goods or services without the intervention of the
government or any other authority. In Sandel s Justice I found that his writing on libertarianismto be
somewhat confusing and written with an agenda. Sandel quotes Nozick saying, only a minimal
state, limited to enforcing contracts and protecting people against force, theft and fraud is justified.
I believe Sandel uses this as an attempt to explain the Non aggression principle, without actually
explaining anything in depth. The non aggression principle the NAP is easily the most important
aspect of having a free market. The number one misconception that people have about libertarian
beliefs and the free market is that with deregulationcomes anarchy (a perpetual state of chaos,
without rules.) The non aggression principle is the key component that makes libertarianism work.
A free market if followed offers a maximization of economic and monetary security if the NAP; it
leads to complete non interventionist economy. The best way to maximize peace is to remove any
justification for dynamic, aggressive force (i.e. Institutions of the state) the concepts of government
welfare programs can be taken over by the moral obligation to help your fellow man. Historically
the state breeds war, in

The Theory Of Moral Behavior
The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading
questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the
English dictionary is: not supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement: impartial 1. It means
being detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of
knowledge is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its
marvellous phenomena rather than invent them. The discoveries may require neutrality in our
thinking, but the proofs need prior knowledge, because each formula is built from an aggregate of
different unique formulas. In the same way, in ethics,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leaves me to wonder if discoveries, even in mathematics, are never discoveries because the
outcome of any research is anticipated before the actual final result.
When I ask someone a question, I as the inquirer, will usually expect a certain type of answer, or
there will be a particular type or model of answer expected for that question. For queries, question
or any uncertainties, the world almost always has a stipulated answer, that if not correct, is at least
widely accepted the majority rules! An inquirer tends to have a bias towards his or her questions.
Logic and rational thinking are involved before the answer is given. Even the essay I am writing
right now has specific criteria, which indirectly, points out wrong or right responses. I would
say that almost every question requires public knowledge, or knowledge by description, before
we can incorporate any private opinions or knowledge by acquaintance. We tend to know that
before we know how ; Most students are taught the circumference of a circle is equal to pi times
diameter earlier in about class six or seven, before they know how this came about, and maybe
may never even know or understand. So if someone asked me what the area of a circle is, and I
said it was radius squared, omitting the pi, this would be wrong, and almost no teacher would
even take a second look about why I have I have given this answer. Using empirical knowledge, I
would see no pi around the circle, and that is why I would

Introduction to Poetry, YouВ
ґre Missing, and My PapaВґs Waltz
Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins
People are apt to learn new information, but it takes time, practice, and a good teacher, in order to
do it correctly and to retain understanding. This poem shows the author s (a teacher s) frustration
towards the elementary mistake that inexperienced readers or students make when poetry is first
introduced. Unable to read the poem properly, they often do not capture a poem s natural beauty
and truth. The author says to observe a poem to see its true colors or its natural state (590; lines
1 5). He wants readers to search the surface of the poem to see a glimpse of the deeper side of the
poem to see its meaning and understand (lines 9 11). However, the author simply sees people

I wanted to write about something that was meaningful, and I found it! Truthfully, it read a little
unclear the first time. The poem allowed me to place my own thoughts into its setting, thoughts
that brought a tear to my eye, for the words of the poem allowed me to connect emotionally to it.
I felt I could relate to it because I see my boyfriend s clothes fill my closet; and although he is not
missing , he is not always by my side (long distant relationship). I try very hard to keep things the
same after he leaves and continue moving forward once he is gone; but it is not the same, as the
poem explains. I enjoyed reading the poem even if it brought me nothing but teardrops .
The author of this piece of work is a famous singer, Bruce Springsteen. He has won over 20 music
awards. Although generally he is not known as a poet, Bruce s artistic ability to form lyrics with
prolific and pithy meaning is a mark of a poet, indeed. Moreover, that is why I enjoyed his form of
poetry because it is a style intended for singing not reading aloud.
My Papa s Waltz
This poem shows that no matter what faults a parent has, a child wants to be around them. Even if
it is, a man drunk on whiskey, the child still hangs on like death not leaving his father s side.
Together they playfully dance the waltz. The poem also shows a side of the father that is almost
unexpected. Although he is drunk, he eagerly comes home to play with his child, until the child is
waltzed off to

Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marqez s A Very Old Man...
Characteristics of Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marqez s A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings
The controversy surrounding Magical Realism makes the classification of what is and what is not
Magical Realism very difficult. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a famous Latin American author, has
written many pieces of what is generally conceived to be Magical Realism. Marqez s A Very Old
Man with Enormous Wings fulfills every characteristic of Magical Realism..
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings includes many aspects, which may be described as
magical. In the story, an old man with a very poor set of wings is found and kept as a pet for
several years. These wings were described by the doctor in the story as ...so natural on that ... Show

The language used by Magical Realists such as Marqez contains a romantic quality. The world was
sad since Tuesday (525) describes the mood of the people as not only sad, but extraordinarily sad
and for a space of time as well.
The magical elements are treated as though they are somewhat acceptable. The characters react to
the old man with wings as one reacts to an out of ordinary person. Once the novelty has passed, the
person becomes ordinary.
Though elements of magic exist in the story, a realistic environment surrounds the actions. The
family that houses the angel makes the realistic decision of selling admission to see the angel in
order to better their financial standing. They also tire of the angel eventually, treating him as
though he were a dog. Only when he becomes ill does the family begin to worry about him.
The mobs that abandon the old man are very fickle. Just as fans are in reality, they desert one fad
for another. The lady spider is a new fad, and the old man suddenly seems ordinary in comparison to
her.
The use of details causes the reader to render close observation toward the subjects of the story.
The angel is a flesh and blood angel, and his description is very grotesque. There is no grandeur
in describing the angel or the spider. The ordinary aspects of the story give it a realistic allure. The
use of a chicken coop to house the angel is very humbling. The characters do not have mansions or
summer homes. They

Political And Present Day Entrepreneurs
In this paper we examine economical, political and present day entrepreneurs. Outline a politico
economic growth system centered on the entrepreneurs. This examination is presented to discuss
the challenges a modern day entrepreneur s face in the ultra competitive technology market place.
We also point to a modern day entrepreneurwho succeeded in a very stereotypical industry. Gender
stereotypes are also of immense concern, and presented for reader awareness. The pitfalls
associated with a tech startup are presented to show the vast complexity in the modern day. Options
are illustrated of what an entrepreneur can do when the locale is not conducive to their business
development. We summarize with a positive note if the right strategy is employed, anyone can be
successful.
Entrepreneurship is commonly linked with brick and mortar business run by a sole proprietor or
someone with a brand new invention. However, entrepreneurship is much more than this, ask
any American teenager who grew up in the late 1980 s or early 1990 s and they will tell you rap
music was immensely popular and dominated solely by African American artists. Conversely, they
all stopped, collaborated, and listed to a new artist on the music scene, who broke the mold and
stereotype of the a typical rap artist. The white rap artist known as Vanilla Iceis defiantly an
example of a modern day entrepreneur.

The European Union As A European Community
The European Union formed in 1956, firstly as a European Community until further expansion. The
Union was not the first attempt at European cooperation, but it has been the boldest in conception,
the most developed and the most successful, (Watts). With the first countries to join such as
Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Holland, then many other countries joining for years after. It
was formed in search of mutual benefit between the European countries after the impact that World
War II took on Europe, and it created a huge benefit for Europe and its citizens, allowing travel to
citizens freely within Europe, but in recent years we have seen a surplus of people wanting to come
to Europe. While, the European Unionhas been a strong advantage for Europe, the open borders
have become out of control and the future does not look as promising.
With European countries allowing an open border, meaning anyone within Europe could travel
and live wherever they pleased was great for the people of Europe, but this now has made
complications. Since 2011, an estimated 200,000 Syrians have died from the conflict within their
borders, and close to half of the country s residents have been uprooted. Roughly 3.5 m illion

The Development Process Of The New Testament Canon
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
CANON SUBMITTED TO DR. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL
BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement
to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon.
While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded
from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many
years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of
a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized
after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s
collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through
councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became
part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of
the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to
be included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual
church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. Because there was no canon (books

The Impacts of Overfishing in the Pacific Ocean
Research on Overfishing in the Pacific Ocean: The demand for food across the globe continues
to increase as the human population continues to increase. For human populations, particularly
people in the poorest countries across the globe, fish is an important source of nourishment and
food given the increase in the demand for food. As a result, fisheries catches represent a huge
export of energy and mass that can no longer be utilized by trophic levels that are higher than
those fished. Since fishing has been used one of the major ways by humans to meet the ever
increasing demand for food, it has contributed to widespread overfishing. The widespread
overfishing has in turn resulted in the decrease in the global catch of fish. Furthermore, increased
overfishing has become a huge threat to every species in the ocean and has largely contributed to
the huge migrations by marine mammals in their quest for the left over fish. While the use of fish
by human beings is not wrong, the whole eco system in the ocean can be severely impacted when
human take too much. In order to deal with this issue effectively, it s important to examine its
causes, effects, and proposed solutions. The Trend of Overfishing across the Globe: According to
the findings of research, approximately 50 percent of commercial marine species have been
overfished in the past five decades (Srinivasan, Cheung, Watson Sumaila, p.1). The increase in
fisheries catches across the globe has also been fueled by

The Struggle For Gender Equality
Is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the
twentieth century? Previous to the twentieth century, women were unable to vote in Europe, which
contributed towards a disparity between genders. Early twentieth century saw the majority of
working class women s lives across Europe revolving around household and family duties, with the
education world being closed to them and the opportunity of having a job restricted. This
immediately shows an inequality and divide between women and men, showing evidence that
woman was living in a man s world . However things began to evolve during the twentieth century
as it witnessed many European countries in giving women the political right to vote. Primarily,
Finland gave women the vote in 1906, Britain followed although not until 1928, and Italy finally
accepted women should vote in 1945. Although the passing of these laws demonstrate emancipation
towards women, is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful
during the twentieth century? Essentially the struggle for gender equality was not completely
triumphant during the twentieth century, as although women were successful in gaining the vote,
this was only one aspect towards achieving gender equality. Firstly in Britain in 1894, the Local
Government Act allowed women who own property to vote locally, however it was only a small
amount of women who this concerned, therefore had little

What Was The Impact Of The Black Panther Party

Civil Rights
5/11/16
The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would
be the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult
and his life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of
oppressed people (Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and
social upheaval. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people
based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven
weak. Unlike other national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black
Panther Party for Self Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently
seen campaigning armed and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newtonand Bobby Seale, the
founders of the Black Panthers, believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin
Luther King had failed, and had very little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights
movement. Newton casually addresses his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey
you re so violent. Why are you so violent Huey? ...And I say, well hey, existence is violent; I exist,
therefore I am violent in that way (PBS).
Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale established the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Oakland
California, during October of 1966.

than a measure of strength? Intelligence is an interesting concept and whilst we understand and
can agree that it is what differentiates us from other all the other animals it is almost impossible
to agree exactly how to measure it. One of the preferred definitions by Dr Jenny Taylor, a clinical
physiologist is that intelligence is the ability for the organism to adapt itself to the environment in
which it finds itself. This is an extremely broad expression which could be applied to any living
thing. The difficulty comes in the very word measurement which implies some form of numerical
logic. If we look at known distance measurements one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it could be argued that other skills such as the ability to work as part of a team, or
the ability to show empathy correspond to more real life sources of intelligence that determine a
person s ability to achieve in life. Such cognition is arguably more complex which leads to the
suggestion that other sources of variance such as cultural, environmental and other non
cognitive factors effect and shape a person s ability to understand and evaluate the world. The
idea that IQ differences reflect cultural distance rather than a cognitive strength is simply
recognising these factors and implementing contextual testing of a person s ability through more
than one testing basis. B2028002 Michelle Jacques TMA1 Part 2. This study shows changes in

The Outside Dynamic Environment Punctuating Public Sector...
A service is defined as an action of helping or doing work for someone . In the private sector the
action of helping or doing work for someone is on the basis of making a profit and shareholder
accountability, it is goal driven, profit motivation and reward orientated. In the public sector an
action of helping or doing work for someone is supplying a public need such as transport,
communications or health service. It is a service provided to the population with greater public
scrutiny and is not profit motivated. Public sector organisations are agents of the state to do the
states business and are not in a position to make a profit; they are mandated to provide a service
to all. Public sector services are complex by nature by that I mean that they are difficult to manage
and lead. It can be argued that there are many reasons for these complexities, notwithstanding the
influence of context i.e. the outside dynamic environment punctuating public sector organisations
globally. Some of the reasons for the complexities are beyond the organisations control e.g.
population, who you serve, labour intensive, demographics etc. it cannot choose to exclude
citizens but must treat all citizens fairly and equally. It is proposed to discuss the following
complexities for public sector managers as I see being a challenge in my organisation in more

the men are going after each other and trying to kill each other. They do not trust one another and
really just trying to prove who is better and who is right in the matter. So you re not killed, as you
ought to be, but you re caught, anyway, he cried; caught fast. Ho, what a jest, Ulrich von Gradwitz

These stories show and do not support the idea that all people must accept others who are different
from themselves. These two main characters have something in common. This is that they both do
not like the other person they have to deal with, the protaganist, or atleast they end up not bing

Nike Economic Recession
In my opinion, if the sales volume were starting to suffer due to an economic recession, it would
be absolutely necessary to change the corporate strategy. This is particularly true if the recession
may have long term effects. One of the primary areas a recession affects in terms of products is
the price. The current corporate strategy adopted by Nike is clearly geared towards the higher end
of the market, and such a strategy may not be sustainable if consumers are searching for value in a
market recession. Therefore, a change in corporate strategy would involve cost cutting, either from
sponsorships or by reducing stores overheads. A change in the market, as significant as a recession,
requires a new strategy for organizations in ensuring

An investigation into the differences between retail and investment banks
Over the past decades, retail banks have remained the main commercial bank for consumers, rather
than corporations or other banks. The investment bank has become more popular amongst
individuals, corporations and governments which are interested in raising their profits. Retail banks
and investment banks have different organizational structures and activities. So they have many
differences, such as services, customers and profits. And this report aims to distinguish between the
retail bank and the investment bank in order to identify their specific service areas. Firstly, the

There are also many advantages of the investment banks which usually provide services for the
company. First of all, most of the investment banks are global company and it can provide services
more widely than the retail banks. Such as Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services
firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth
management It reports US$779 billion as assets under its management. Its headquarter located in
Midtown Manhattan , New York City. It has companies in 37 countries with over 1,200 offices,
employees dedicated to local businesses, government agencies, institutions and individuals. So the
investment banks can provide the services (such as trading of derivatives, fixed income
instruments, foreign exchange and commodities) all over the world. Secondly, the revenue of the
investment banks significantly more than profit of other types of banks. If you save your extra
money in the retail banks, you can only get the interest from the rates. But if you sand your money
to the investment banks you can get remarkable returns although it has a high risk. For example the
Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is an American investment bank and securities. And it provides mergers
and acquisitions advice, underwriting services, asset management, and prime brokerage to its
clients, which include corporations, governments and individuals. Amazingly, the company in US

A Brief Note On Business Management And Cost Costs
Economics
Gavin Clark
HND Business
1.
In the simplest term, total cost is all the costs incurred in the production of a product or the
engagement of an activity. Total costs are calculated through adding together the total fixed costs
and the total variable costs. Variable costsare costs that change based on the amount of goods
bought or the amount of services used. Fixed costs are costs that don t change each month due to
having no relationship with the amount of products produced.

The first is the barriers to entry for new firms. Because there are few firms operating in the
market, it can be very difficult to enter the market. In some highly profitable and competitive
markets, it can be near impossible to get a foothold in the market. Another characteristic is the
interdependence of firms. Because of the few number of firms operating, they need to take into
account the actions the others. This means they are dependent on the other firms. All the firms are
affected by their rival s actions for things like price, product specification and advertising. None of
the firms can stop observing the other businesses as this could leave them at a disadvantage in the
way they operate.
With an oligopoly, the demand curve is both elastic and inelastic. If the demand curve is above
the kink, it is elastic. This is because if the firm attempts to put the price up, the other firms
operating will not follow them in doing so. If the demand curve is below the kink, it is inelastic.
This is because the other firms will follow them as customers will switch to the cheaper business, if
they don t demand to go down.
3.
A monopoly market structure is when a single business is operating in a market unchallenged and
without competition. This means that if people need a specific product or service there is only one
business to buy it form. This leads to the single business

Characteristics Of Older Generations
All generations have their own interesting qualities and contributions to the world; which most of
the time teaches younger generation s key skills for living their lives successfully. However, not
only do the older generations have assets to teach the young, but the younger generations have
things to teach the older generations, too! GenerationZ is the generation spanning from 1995 2015.
In this time period there have been many different changes that have occurred to shape our thoughts
on the future and the present. We have gone through our first big terrorist attack, our first African
American President, a recession, and the development of a large amount of technology. From these
life altering events, our generation has five different characteristics that can help the older
generations learn and grow; please allow us to return the favor.
Acceptance/ Open mindedness
Striving for Better and Less Expensive Higher Education
Implementation of Technology
Being Cynical isn t a foul thing
Charitability
In recent years we have come across a lot of political and personal issues that have been extremely
controversial and have upset older generations largely. Our generation has been accepting and open
to those who are wanting to engage in same sex marriage, transgender bathrooms, women s rights,
abortion, and different sexuality and identification. It is important to remember, no matter what

Summary Of When Asia Was The World
In When Asia was the World, Stewart Gordon investigates how trade led to the spread of religion
and education/innovation. These factors were critical in Asia s rise to dominance. Throughout the
book, trade is discussed as a medium for culture to travel across large areas of land. It is this
movement of new ideas that catalyzed Asias growth. Trade allowed religious ideas to spread very
rapidly in Asia. Many religions such as Buddhism required religious literature and spiritual objects.
Often, these items were traded around Asia and thus the religion they represented expanded to new
areas. For example, on the Intan Shipwreck, divers discovered miniature Buddhist shrines made of
bronze. These objects were produced for Buddhist worshippers all

Canada s Chinatown and the Critical Race Theory
China Town Today in Canada there are a lot ethnic groups clustered away in their own areas
giving rise to enclaves that are just growing. This segregation is taking away the entire idea of
multiculturalism and diversity and rather pushing towards oppression and racism in the country.
The Critical Race Theory basically states that the individuals are pushed around to change socially
and individually due to pressures from the society. (Solorzano and Barnal p 311) This theory is
based on the fact that race is merely a social construction and it goes on to affect other components
throughout the society. A Hanegy Lopen (2000) state that race of a country is typically determined
by the dominant group in that society. The dominant group will thus construct the social order and
mould the entire structure in a way that promotes in interest. (Henry 2010) This is the basis that
further promotes this paper. The Anglo Saxon or the white race is the predominant one in Canada.
People who are not white are usually inquired about where they are from because they definitely
aren t Canadian. Questions and perspectives like these thus depict racism for the minorities and
thus cause them to form segregated groups and in the society. Thus, it is quite clear that the
segregated communities bring about and further increase racism in Canada. Today, the word
segregation harbors many negative feelings and sentiments regardless of where a person in is.
Segregation brings along with it acts of

Mercury Athletic Footwear Case Study Essay
Mercury Athletic Footwear Case Study John Liedtke head of Active Gear, Inc. (AGI) is
contemplating whether to invest in Mercury Athletic a subsidiary of West Coast Fashions (WCF).
Mercury was purchased by WCF in hopes to increase business revenue however this was not the
case. Business did not do as expected, WCF was then eager to abandon its apparel. John Liedtke
saw this as an opportunity to take over Mercury and as result increase its business revenue. In order
to determine whether this is an essential business opportunity John needs to complete preliminary
financial valuations to make a solid decision. Active Gear s current income statements and balance

In doing this John can clearly see whether processes are in control or out of control for example
how inventory changes affect finance costs and whether the investment is worth making. This
also makes it clear what financing options are more suitable in the long term and which ones
would cause problems, as a result avoid any surprises (Olley (2006). The discount rate of
acquiring Mercury is also essential to know. Since discount cash flow is a valuation method
used to estimate investment opportunities. Its purpose is to estimate money received from an
investment and adjust for time value money (Harman (2011). In this case a 12% forecast was
estimated and reflected a positive factor toward PV and NPV. There are however, some
circumstances where discount cash flow can be a challenge for example, the most prevailing is
when cash flow projections increase for each year in the forecast. It is then assumed that a
company will mature in such a way that their maintainable growth rates will lean toward long
term rate of economic growth in the long run (Harman (2011). This intern becomes a challenge
for the company against unexpected risks. In consideration to Mercury s financial history and
projections it would be in the best interest for AGI to move forward and invest in Mercury. This
would increase revenue for AGI and bring in a new customer market. Prior to doing so John will
need to perform a financial forecast as previously discussed.

Romeo and Juliet VS. Pyramus and Thisbe Compare and Contrast Essay It is not too often that

Explain Ways To Minimise Estate Tax
Ways to minimise Estate Tax 1) Generation skipping: Generation skipping is exactly as it sounds. In
countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to
their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This
strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which
saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when
transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it
eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts

The Psychology Of Mental Illness
The history as well as the present study of psychological disorders is confusing and
intriguing.Psychological disorders have been misunderstood since the 4th century BC.
Throughout history knowledge and science have presented various causes, treatments and

color of our bodily fluids to today s modern and scientific diagnoses and treatments ,
psychological disorders can now be effectively treated ( The History Of The Psychiatric
Diagnostic System, 2013). The psychological disorders videos in MyPsychLab were all

Tami Greens Congressional Briefing on Borderline Personality to be informative and created

The History of Mental Illness is an informative podcast based off of an interview with Dr. Rodger

Poughkeepsie, NY. Dr. Christenfeld spoke of the psychiatric centers change of names over time
from an Insane Asylum to the present name Psychiatrist Center as well as the possibility of
different labels in the future. He discussed a time of social reform approximately 50 years before
Freud in which Charles Dickens presented the idea of psychological disorders being an illness .

Transcendentalism Is Not A Beneficial Way Of Life
Transcendentalism is when one goes beyond the regular human experiences of the material
world and society to find true peace. Thoreau s Walden is about leaving the cities, abandoning
one s possessions and living out in nature to find one s true self. Emerson s Self Reliance is
about resisting society and living true to oneself and never following society s standards. A
modern Transcendentalist named Josh from the novel The Gospel According to Larry by Janet
Tashjian follows in the footsteps of Emerson and Thoreau and tries to live a Transcendentalist
way of life. When a person does follow the transcendentalist way of life, they will find that it will

to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. (Thoreau 26 27). Thoreau wanted to live
freely and if he did not live this way he was not living life. However when Josh uses his own
emotions like Thoreau, things do not end well for him. When Josh tries to follow his own
emotions, he wants to tell Beth that he is actually Lary however, Josh tells what the consequences

The Importance Of Nursing Professional Development
Introduction Nursing is a dynamic discipline with constant change. Practicing in such changing
professional context demands highly competent and safe care from nurses. This means that nurses
demonstrate ability to grow personally and professionally in order to remain relevant and informed
about new technology, evidence based practices, recent research within the nursing profession as
well as capacity to function multi culturally within diverse population. These expectations require
professional development. Nursing professional development has been defined as the lifelong
process of active participation by nurses in learning activities that assist in developing and
maintaining their continuing competence, enhance their professional practice, and support
achievement of their career goal (Kowitlawakul, 2013 p. 43). Nursing education or training does not
end at graduation but it is a lifelong learning. To ensure the delivery of evidence base and patient
centered care one has to stay current by taking courses, attending conferences, continuous online
CEUs and obtaining certification. Professional growth will benefit the nurse and the patient in
giving competent care. Church (2016) enumerated the consequences of nursing competence and
development to include improved patient outcomes, clinical judgement, accountability and
confidence. Church further asserts that an environment that emphasizes a culture of continuous
professional development is crucial, as it motivates nurses to develop their competence, improve
their work environment, and deliver quality patient care (p. E13). Professional development in
nursing enhance the knowledge, confident and skills of nurses in caring for patient; promotes
healthy work culture, high quality nursing care and positive patient outcome (Elder, 2017). In

politics and should not have an opinion on who runs the country. Lowering the voting age to 16 in
the United Stateswill help today s youth; 16 year olds are old enough to make educated decisions
and have a strong voice on this nation s current issues. Initially, 16 year olds should be allowed to
vote because they show they are mature young adults. In today s society, teens show maturity in

They believe they should have an opinion, yet they do not According to Fair Vote, Denmark
found that 18 year olds were far more likely to cast their first vote than[sic] 19 year olds, and that
every month of extra age in those years resulted in a decline in first vote turnout. Allowing 16 and
17 year olds to vote in local elections will enable them to vote before leaving home and high school,
and establish a lifelong habit of voting. (Fairvote).Furthermore, students are engaged in political
discussions and arguments everyday in school. In high school students start to understand
government and realize what is happening in society. As a student, teens are taught to have an
opinion about the world around them. Society contradicts what they are teaching by denying voting
for young Americans. Denying teens the right to vote is not only unfair, it is violating their 15th
Amendment right. The 15th Amendment states, The right for U.S citizens to vote cannot be

Hawaii Language Essay
As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved
to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language
that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian,
although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at
all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in
Hawaiisince the early nineteen hundreds when the influence of the United Statesresulted in
institutionalized language death.
Hawaiian language, also known as ЕЊlelo Hawai I, is a Marquesic language related to other
Oceanic languages of the Eastern Malayo Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family.
Hawaiian is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a
slight distinction between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the
university. The language is named, Hawaiian, after the group of islands where it was first
developed and recognized; Hawaii is a volcanic archipelago located in the Central Pacific, hence
the language relation to other Oceanic languages (UCLA, Language Materials Project). Previous
to the influence of the United States, there were a reported 400,000 to 800,000 Native Hawaiian
speakers living in Hawaii. Hawaiian developed as a solely oral language, with a rich tradition of
storytelling and music.

  • 2. Roof Replacement Determining whether or not a home needs a new roof is not difficult. Homeowners simply have to look for clues that alert them to issues. When it comes to Roof Replacement Ft Worth residents just have to look for these clues, call in a professional company such as Greystone Roofing to check out the roof. They can inspect the roofto see if an entire roof is needed, or if the roof that s on the roof can be repaired. Repair or replace If a few shingles have blown off during a storm, or if there s a small leak in one area, replacing is an economical option. It also makes the most sense. After all, why incur the expense of installing a new roof if there are only a couple of shingles that need to be replaced. In some cases one section of a roof may be damaged. Perhaps, a tree limb has fallen on an area of the roof which resulted in damage to 1/4 of the roof. This is another time when repairing may be the more favorable option. However, if the roof is older and will need replacing soon many homeowners opt for Roof Replacement Ft Worth homeowners choose replacement over repair on older roofs in order to save money in the long run. ... Take a good look at how the shingles lay on the roof. Buckling shingles, or those that are curling are an indication that they need to be replaced. • 3. Bourdieu On Social Class This essay will look at the conceptual tools that Bourdieu employed to explain the interactions of class and status on social and economical inequalities. Bourdieu uses conceptual tools that consist of the notion habitus, and the identification of three forms of capital: economic, cultural, social and the concept of field. Bourdieu (1930 2002) was interested in the systems that society used to reproduce, and the economic and social factors that permitted the stability of class. Unlike Marx, Bourdieu, alike Weber, believed that the exploited and exploiter dichotomy could not be explained by economics alone. Bourdieu s theory on social class mirrors much of Weber s theory of the influence of non economic subjective factors such as status, knowledge,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, economic capital is defined by Marx and Weber as the economic assets held by an individual, such as property and labour (Bourdieu, 1986 p.46). Secondly, cultural capital refers to non economical social assets that promote social mobility, these assets can include, education, intellect and credentials which operate as resources similar to that of economic capital, to create class hierarchies based on status (Bourdieu, 1986 pp.47 48). Cultural capital has three subtypes, embodied, objectified and institutionalised. Embodied cultural capital consists of elements that have been passively inherited or consciously acquired, such as an accent or dialect. Objectified cultural capital consists of ownership of physical objects that can be transmitted both for economic and cultural capital, owning a luxury car or painting collection are examples of objectified cultural capital. Lastly institutionalised cultural capital, involves credentials and qualifications which can be a representation of an individual cultural competence and authority (Bourdieu, 1986 pp.50 51). Thirdly, social capital refers to an array of social networks such as friends, memberships and groups formed consciously or unconsciously (Bourdieu, 1986 pp.51 52). These networks are highly important and are representative of a social position. For example, the Old Boy s Union is a deliberate cultivation of social networks within the educational sphere, that are nearly exclusively composed of the dominant/bourgeoisies class. This hierarchical social network then provides enhanced access and opportunities to a range of highly sought after social positions (Habibis, 2015 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Critical Criticism Of Dr Faustus Often a hero is thought to be simple, with few complexities that hinder them within a story. Although the typical hero is not one filled with desires for darkness, the qualities and actions of the tragic hero, Dr. Faustus , are considered to be dark and internal dilemmas. Though he has obtained expansive knowledge through studying, for him the world s knowledge is not enough. Consequently, in his quest for more knowledge at the price of his soul, he in turn had to be constrained to the views of the people at the time. Marlowe s character, Dr. Faustus , dissatisfaction and boredom with the bounds of his knowledge not only complicates his character, but hints at the author s criticism of the beliefs of his time. All of the knowledge in the world is not enough to satisfy Dr. Faustus. Within the first couple of lines in scene one Faustus states to himself Then read no more, thou has attained the end; A greater subject fitteth Faustus wit. (scene 1 lines 10 1) With this statement he acknowledges Aristotle s wisdom, but claims to have grown tired of it and craves to excel past the renowned philosopher. His brashness exhibits not only his smugness, but reinforces that he is an educated Doctor. Although Faustus is an educated man, it is odd how he became bored of ideas that are still studied in depth today. Which then begs the question, if Dr. Faustus is unsatisfied then does that make him a fool who only reads the surface, or is this scene a statement by Marlowe? First, it ... The City of Angkor started to decline in the late 14th century AD then eventually collapsed in the 15th century AD. There are also many different reasons for the decline of the City of Angkor which include the fact that they people couldn t battle drought and how much they over worked the land. There were a number of reasons for this but mainly because of women s contribution to the war effort. I will be looking at these different reasons and writing about how everything came together for the vote for women. I will start by looking at what the women did in the war. Women were pleased by the outbreak of the war because this meant they could prove themselves and even get suffrage at the end of it all. Women thought this was a patriotic duty and wanted to prove they were indispensable. So many men had been called away to fight that women were needed to do their jobs. As a result, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thanks to this there were major effects on the way men thought about women. There were many effects that were caused by the war. Politicians like Asquith and Lloyd George changed their mind about women because of the way women handled affairs while men were giving women the vote in 1918. Old arguments about women being weak had been disproved by women during the war. Parliament had to change the voting system so that all soldiers could vote. In 1913 nearly half of all men still could not vote. There were other factors of why women over 30 gained the vote in 1918. Women over 30 gained the vote in 1918 not only because of women s contribution to the war; there were a few other reasons for women over 30 gaining the vote in 1918. After the war all men were getting the vote so it was more difficult to ignore the women. The government thought that the women s suffrage organisation would cease this opportunity to cause a revolution and unsettle Britain, but this wasn t the case and it impressed the government at how co operative women were being. In 1915 the government realised it had a problem. The old voting system demanded that voters live on the same place for the twelve months before an election. • 7. The Theory Of Free Market Economics When I came back to Oregon after spending four years in the Marine Corps, I quickly became interested in politics. In 2013 I was introduced to the concepts of free market economics, a system where the consumer decides the prices of goods or services without the intervention of the government or any other authority. In Sandel s Justice I found that his writing on libertarianismto be somewhat confusing and written with an agenda. Sandel quotes Nozick saying, only a minimal state, limited to enforcing contracts and protecting people against force, theft and fraud is justified. I believe Sandel uses this as an attempt to explain the Non aggression principle, without actually explaining anything in depth. The non aggression principle the NAP is easily the most important aspect of having a free market. The number one misconception that people have about libertarian beliefs and the free market is that with deregulationcomes anarchy (a perpetual state of chaos, without rules.) The non aggression principle is the key component that makes libertarianism work. A free market if followed offers a maximization of economic and monetary security if the NAP; it leads to complete non interventionist economy. The best way to maximize peace is to remove any justification for dynamic, aggressive force (i.e. Institutions of the state) the concepts of government welfare programs can be taken over by the moral obligation to help your fellow man. • 8. The Theory Of Moral Behavior The statement claims that no question can ever be neutral. This means that all questions are leading questions, that we always have a notion of the knowledge we find. The definition of neutral in the English dictionary is: not supporting either side in a conflict, disagreement: impartial 1. It means being detached and impersonal to situations, questions or judgements. Mathematics, as an area of knowledge is said to be a subject that already exists in the natural world, only that we discover its marvellous phenomena rather than invent them. The discoveries may require neutrality in our thinking, but the proofs need prior knowledge, because each formula is built from an aggregate of different unique formulas. In the same way, in ethics,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leaves me to wonder if discoveries, even in mathematics, are never discoveries because the outcome of any research is anticipated before the actual final result. When I ask someone a question, I as the inquirer, will usually expect a certain type of answer, or there will be a particular type or model of answer expected for that question. For queries, question or any uncertainties, the world almost always has a stipulated answer, that if not correct, is at least widely accepted the majority rules! An inquirer tends to have a bias towards his or her questions. Logic and rational thinking are involved before the answer is given. Even the essay I am writing right now has specific criteria, which indirectly, points out wrong or right responses. I would say that almost every question requires public knowledge, or knowledge by description, before we can incorporate any private opinions or knowledge by acquaintance. We tend to know that before we know how ; Most students are taught the circumference of a circle is equal to pi times diameter earlier in about class six or seven, before they know how this came about, and maybe may never even know or understand. So if someone asked me what the area of a circle is, and I said it was radius squared, omitting the pi, this would be wrong, and almost no teacher would even take a second look about why I have I have given this answer. Using empirical knowledge, I would see no pi around the circle, and that is why I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction to Poetry, YouВ ґre Missing, and My PapaВґs Waltz Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins People are apt to learn new information, but it takes time, practice, and a good teacher, in order to do it correctly and to retain understanding. This poem shows the author s (a teacher s) frustration towards the elementary mistake that inexperienced readers or students make when poetry is first introduced. Unable to read the poem properly, they often do not capture a poem s natural beauty and truth. The author says to observe a poem to see its true colors or its natural state (590; lines 1 5). He wants readers to search the surface of the poem to see a glimpse of the deeper side of the poem to see its meaning and understand (lines 9 11). However, the author simply sees people rushing ... The poem allowed me to place my own thoughts into its setting, thoughts that brought a tear to my eye, for the words of the poem allowed me to connect emotionally to it. I felt I could relate to it because I see my boyfriend s clothes fill my closet; and although he is not missing , he is not always by my side (long distant relationship). I try very hard to keep things the same after he leaves and continue moving forward once he is gone; but it is not the same, as the poem explains. I enjoyed reading the poem even if it brought me nothing but teardrops . The author of this piece of work is a famous singer, Bruce Springsteen. He has won over 20 music awards. Although generally he is not known as a poet, Bruce s artistic ability to form lyrics with prolific and pithy meaning is a mark of a poet, indeed. Moreover, that is why I enjoyed his form of poetry because it is a style intended for singing not reading aloud. My Papa s Waltz This poem shows that no matter what faults a parent has, a child wants to be around them. Even if it is, a man drunk on whiskey, the child still hangs on like death not leaving his father s side. Together they playfully dance the waltz. The poem also shows a side of the father that is almost unexpected. Although he is drunk, he eagerly comes home to play with his child, until the child is waltzed off to ... Marqez s A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings fulfills every characteristic of Magical Realism.. A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings includes many aspects, which may be described as magical. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The language used by Magical Realists such as Marqez contains a romantic quality. The world was sad since Tuesday (525) describes the mood of the people as not only sad, but extraordinarily sad and for a space of time as well. The magical elements are treated as though they are somewhat acceptable. The characters react to the old man with wings as one reacts to an out of ordinary person. Once the novelty has passed, the person becomes ordinary. Though elements of magic exist in the story, a realistic environment surrounds the actions. The family that houses the angel makes the realistic decision of selling admission to see the angel in order to better their financial standing. They also tire of the angel eventually, treating him as though he were a dog. Only when he becomes ill does the family begin to worry about him. The mobs that abandon the old man are very fickle. Just as fans are in reality, they desert one fad for another. The lady spider is a new fad, and the old man suddenly seems ordinary in comparison to her. The use of details causes the reader to render close observation toward the subjects of the story. The angel is a flesh and blood angel, and his description is very grotesque. There is no grandeur in describing the angel or the spider. The ordinary aspects of the story give it a realistic allure. The use of a chicken coop to house the angel is very humbling. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to be included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. • 15. The Impacts of Overfishing in the Pacific Ocean Research on Overfishing in the Pacific Ocean: The demand for food across the globe continues to increase as the human population continues to increase. For human populations, particularly people in the poorest countries across the globe, fish is an important source of nourishment and food given the increase in the demand for food. As a result, fisheries catches represent a huge export of energy and mass that can no longer be utilized by trophic levels that are higher than those fished. Since fishing has been used one of the major ways by humans to meet the ever increasing demand for food, it has contributed to widespread overfishing. The widespread overfishing has in turn resulted in the decrease in the global catch of fish. Furthermore, increased overfishing has become a huge threat to every species in the ocean and has largely contributed to the huge migrations by marine mammals in their quest for the left over fish. While the use of fish by human beings is not wrong, the whole eco system in the ocean can be severely impacted when human take too much. In order to deal with this issue effectively, it s important to examine its causes, effects, and proposed solutions. The Trend of Overfishing across the Globe: According to the findings of research, approximately 50 percent of commercial marine species have been overfished in the past five decades (Srinivasan, Cheung, Watson Sumaila, p.1). • 16. The Struggle For Gender Equality Is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the twentieth century? Previous to the twentieth century, women were unable to vote in Europe, which contributed towards a disparity between genders. Early twentieth century saw the majority of working class women s lives across Europe revolving around household and family duties, with the education world being closed to them and the opportunity of having a job restricted. This immediately shows an inequality and divide between women and men, showing evidence that woman was living in a man s world . However things began to evolve during the twentieth century as it witnessed many European countries in giving women the political right to vote. Primarily, Finland gave women the vote in 1906, Britain followed although not until 1928, and Italy finally accepted women should vote in 1945. Although the passing of these laws demonstrate emancipation towards women, is it accurate to state that the struggle for gender equality in Europe was successful during the twentieth century? Essentially the struggle for gender equality was not completely triumphant during the twentieth century, as although women were successful in gaining the vote, this was only one aspect towards achieving gender equality. Firstly in Britain in 1894, the Local Government Act allowed women who own property to vote locally, however it was only a small amount of women who this concerned, therefore had little ... We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people (Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval. Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newtonand Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers, believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Newton casually addresses his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey you re so violent. Intelligence is an interesting concept and whilst we understand and can agree that it is what differentiates us from other all the other animals it is almost impossible to agree exactly how to measure it. One of the preferred definitions by Dr Jenny Taylor, a clinical physiologist is that intelligence is the ability for the organism to adapt itself to the environment in which it finds itself. This is an extremely broad expression which could be applied to any living thing. The difficulty comes in the very word measurement which implies some form of numerical logic. In the private sector the action of helping or doing work for someone is on the basis of making a profit and shareholder accountability, it is goal driven, profit motivation and reward orientated. In the public sector an action of helping or doing work for someone is supplying a public need such as transport, communications or health service. It is a service provided to the population with greater public scrutiny and is not profit motivated. Public sector organisations are agents of the state to do the states business and are not in a position to make a profit; they are mandated to provide a service to all. Public sector services are complex by nature by that I mean that they are difficult to manage and lead. It can be argued that there are many reasons for these complexities, notwithstanding the influence of context i.e. the outside dynamic environment punctuating public sector organisations globally. Some of the reasons for the complexities are beyond the organisations control e.g. population, who you serve, labour intensive, demographics etc. it cannot choose to exclude citizens but must treat all citizens fairly and equally. The current corporate strategy adopted by Nike is clearly geared towards the higher end of the market, and such a strategy may not be sustainable if consumers are searching for value in a market recession. Because of the few number of firms operating, they need to take into account the actions the others. This means they are dependent on the other firms. This segregation is taking away the entire idea of multiculturalism and diversity and rather pushing towards oppression and racism in the country. The Critical Race Theory basically states that the individuals are pushed around to change socially and individually due to pressures from the society. (Solorzano and Barnal p 311) This theory is based on the fact that race is merely a social construction and it goes on to affect other components throughout the society. A Hanegy Lopen (2000) state that race of a country is typically determined by the dominant group in that society. The dominant group will thus construct the social order and mould the entire structure in a way that promotes in interest. (Henry 2010) This is the basis that further promotes this paper. The Anglo Saxon or the white race is the predominant one in Canada. People who are not white are usually inquired about where they are from because they definitely aren t Canadian. Questions and perspectives like these thus depict racism for the minorities and thus cause them to form segregated groups and in the society. Pyramus and Thisbe Compare and Contrast Essay It is not too often that we find a story about two teenagers in love taking their own lives. It is even less common to find two stories of in love teenagers taking their own lives. The story of Pyramus and Thisbe, written by Ovid, and Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, are almost mirror images. These stories are different yet, have the similar events, similar difficulty getting to each other, and the same tragic misunderstanding that led to a miserable end. These two stories should be considered the twins of literature. Romeo and Juliet. They had met at a party and spoke to one another through a window, contrary to the other story, proceeding to marry hours later. Star crossed lovers fighting to be together, literally. Before him lay the bloodstain shreds of the cloak and clear in the dust were the tracks of the lioness. The conclusion was inevitable (Ovid 488). In countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts can be an area where you can find significant ... The parents would occasionally make statements in a language that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian, although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at all.
