Both CNN and FOX News both news media s told a lot about Pope Benedict and the British
Parliament at Westminster Hall, the place where the Pope gave his speech. Both news medias had
the same reports about the six people getting arrested and still remaining in custody because some
reports that the arrests were because of threats that were made to the Pope.
FOX News and CNN both reported about the how Benedict would began his day by meeting
with Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and opposition leader
Harriet Harman. Both also reported the pope offered his condolences to Cameron about his
father s death. Each of the three gave the pope gift; this was only reported by FOX News. CNN
reported that the pope prayed alongside the archbishop of Canterbury at the tomb of Edward the
Confessor that died in 1066 and FOX News reported that the pope was schedule to visit with the

A Metaphorical View Into Kindred
A Metaphorical View into Kindred In Kindred by Octavia Butler, Dana is subject to many
different wounds all over her body; the more involved Dana becomes in the story the more
damaging the wounds are to her everyday function. These wounds, their severity, and their position
represent certain emotional and mental scars in Dana made by her travels into the 1800 s.The most
severe of these wounds and the bait of the novel, since it is the opening chapter and I am awaiting
for this scene throughout the book, is the losing of her left arm. Losing such a vital part of one s
body can be devastating and for some this can be an unsurpassable obstacle, but for Dana is a
reminder of her travels, her new found knowledge, and her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dana feels that it was a mistake on his part and that It was the breaking of an unspoken
agreement... (239). Self inflicted wounds for Dana at the beginning of the novel might have been
an improbability but as the story progresses it become an almost certainty, this is one reason why
this wound was so significant for Dana, the only thing the reader does not know is when she will
make the leap. This wound is larger to Dana mentally than physically because it first shows how
far she was able to go in order to stop the pain and to end all her problems. Second, because the
wounds won t hurt her after they heal and they are big enough to be intrusive with her day to
day life, yet they are significantly out in the open to serve as reminders of her changes. The
scars that will come from the slits will surely remind Dana of how horrible the past can be and
how it far it can push a person no matter how strong their character is. Furthermore, it shows
Dana that no matter how bad your past can be it was necessary for someone to be the way they
are or in her case the reason that she exists. Finally, we are brought back to that scene in the
hospital that the novel opened with, the reader sees that when Dana is thrown back into the 1900 s
after killing the very person she was sent to protect, she appears with her arm inside, and

Every company needs to increase its sales efforts if it wants to continue to be business, this

However, it is important to always monitor the reputation of the company, through checking the
comments said by the public, and improving it if there is a need. This is considered as one of the
Indomie s companies objectives. Because of the dark side spoken of instant noodles, through new

Indomie instant noodle product has a target market for all ages except toddler.
Since cooking is a thing that people often lazy to do, especially when they are quite busy with
their university life or at their job, people consume Indomie as a simple way to eat because
cooking it only took about 3 to 5 minutes, this makes Indomie as a saving time food . In addition,
the taste of Indomie noodles matches the taste of this generation, who love pasta and fast foods.
Thus people eat instant noodle as a convenient choice to save up time, in addition to saving money.
The primary target audience of Indomie noodles:
Young adults ages 16 25, because of their school and university life, if their Mom works students
have a good choice to eat noodles as a dinner. As well as a lunch since young adults spent most of
the night hours on social media, and sometimes on studying this make them feel hungry at midnight.
The secondary target audience:
Working mothers ages 30 45 because mothers may have no time to prepare dinner and a lunch on
daily bases, so noodles considered a good choice to be found at home, that satisfy the hunger of
their children.

Economic Perspective Of Climate Change

Economic perspective of Climate change Climate is an average weather condition during a region
in a given period, it will not change by one day or one night, but instead caused through over time.
From the perspective of meteorology, The climate changerefers to a specific location, time of
regional or global climate change or conversion, based on the all of the conditions associated with
the average weather characteristics, such as temperature, wind and precipitation etc. According to
the IPCC s Synthesis Report, Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have increased since the pre
industrial era, driven largely by economic and population growth, and are now higher than ever.
This has led to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide that are
unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years. Their effects, together with those of other
anthropogenic drivers, have been detected throughout the climate system and are extremely likely
to have been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid 20th century (Page4)
Human are the main reason to cause the climate change. While during the climate changing in

British Imperialism in India Essay
Englishmen.. have given the people of India the greatest human blessing peace. (Dutt). Merely
coming to India in the 1600s to trade, the British East India Company established trading outposts.
After ridding of French influence in India during the Seven Years War and having Indians mutiny
against British rule, Britain gained full control of India. India has been under the imperialist control
of the British until their independence in 1947. British imperialism caused some negative effects
on India through poverty and persecution, but retained more of a positive impact due to its massive
improvements in the modernization of India and the overall improvement of Indian civilization.
Despite impacting India very positively, imperialism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way modernization is illustrated in India is through agriculture and industry,
notwithstanding the effects it had on Indians. Industry guided India to a much stronger economy,
arguably guiding them to holding a spot in the top ten economies in the world (O.I). Irrigation
cultivated approximately 30 million acres, awarding the country great agricultural wealth. Along
with wealth also came a disappearance of the famines in India. Collectively, the country of India as
a whole benefited from this modernization as it set a higher standard of living for the population. As
India s modernization developed, the entire civilization of India improved remarkably. The country
s improvement of civilization is exemplified through it s establishment of schools and law. Western
education was introduced by Britain and laws were well made with courts that enforce them. (Doc
3). One should take into account the speaker of this document because Romesh Dutt is an Indian
like any other, yet he praises the British for what they have done to contribute to the development of
India. In addition to these establishments is Britain bringing finer ideals of humanity to India.
Infanticide, the killing of female babies, was brought to a halt as well as participation in the slave
trade (Doc 5). Without the interference of Britain, these inhumane actions would be prevalent
throughout India and the country would suffer from a bad reputation. These

The Ethics Of Adolescent Diversion Project Essay
Upon my research I found out that there are many justices related programs from a restorative or
community framework that are being offered and available to people all ages, from 0 to 4 and
even 55+, races and genders. In order to determine what program I want to look deeper into and
examine, I turned to the Office of Justice Programs website which lists over 400 programs
available. The website points out what programs work and where tested and those that where
deemed as failed researches and programs, more specifically 90 effective programs, 272 as
promising, and 81 as no effect. One particular program that I was interested in and is listed as one
of the effective programs and applies to my set of principles is Adolescent Diversion Project (ADP)
or another name they use is Michigan State UniversityAdolescent Project (MSUAP) which was
founded and is practiced at Michigan State University. The set of principles that I found
Adolescent Diversion Project (ADP) program relevant to are: restorative justice should not be
mandated in a top down authoritarian process, no single road map or blueprint for every
individual involved, all persons involved must be prepared to make mistakes, assistance provided
should help people involved in the long run, crimeinvolves disruptions in a three dimensional
relationship of victim, community, and offender, the primary goals should be to repair the harm,
heal the victim and the community, and rehabilitate offenders.

Intermolecular Forces Essay
Intermolecular forces are the attractive and/or repulsive forces among independent particles, such
as molecules, atoms, or ions, within a sample of matter. These forces differ from chemical bonds,
or intramolecular forces, because chemical bonds exist between the atoms of a single molecule. For
example, intermolecular forces could be described as the forces that attract many water molecules
together, while chemical bonds refer to the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms of a
single water molecule. Chemical bonds are also generally more permanent and stronger than
intermolecular forces.
There are various types of intermolecular forces, all which differ in strength. These forces include:
ion ion forces, dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, ion induced dipole, dipole induced dipole,
and London dispersion forces. The amount of charge, how it is distributed, and how long a charge
distribution will last, all factor into how strong the intermolecular forces are. ... Show more content

These forces attract ions rather strongly. In a pure ionic compound, we call these forces ionic
bonds and consider it to be an intramolecular force. In a mixture of substances, however, it is seen
as an intermolecular force since the ions are interacting without being bonded. Ion ion forces are
repulsive if they are cation cation or anion anion, and are attractive if they are cation anion. Charge
and size influence the strength of these forces. Small molecules with large charge magnitudes
would have stronger ion ion forces acting between them because these factors would allow for
closer approach to their

Statistical Weather Prediction And Regional Climate...
One way nested Limited Area Models (LAMs) are used in numerical weather prediction and
regional climate modelling to downscale coarse resolution global/regional simulations or analyses
that are provided as the time evolving Lateral Boundary Conditions (LBC). The LAM integrations
are sensitively dependent on infinitesimally small modifications. The so called twin simulations,
i.e., LAM integrations identical in all respect, except having slightly different initial conditions,
may with time lead to substantially different solutions. This phenomenon has been referred to as
internal variability (IV) in the existing literature [e.g., Giorgi and Bi, 2000; Christensen et al.,
2001; Rinke et al., 2004; Lucas Picher et al., 2008a; CrГ©tat et al., 2011; Done et al., 2014].
Internal variability is usually quantified in terms of the inter member standard deviation between the
simulations pertaining to the different initial conditions. In extended range LAM integrations
conducted over months to years, the IV varies with several factors that include the synoptic
situation, season of a year, the size and position of the computational domain and the spatial and
temporal scales under consideration. For computational domains centered over midlatitudes, IV is
typically larger in summer [e.g., Caya and Biner, 2004], increases with the size of the
computational domain [Alexandru et al., 2007; Rapaić et al., 2011] and increases downstream
with respect to the inflow lateral boundaries [e.g.,

Satire in the Tragedies of Euripides
The world of Euripides tragedies was one that espoused ancient ideas of religion. The belief in
ancient legends that formed subject material for the tragic drama had passed. The crowd that
attended the theater at this time did so as a sort of religious celebration. It was under these
circumstances that Euripideshad to bury what might have been his true beliefs, and instead replace
them with ideas that would relate to his audience. This did not mean that Euripides had to forgo his
beliefs entirely. Rather, this meant that Euripides had to include his own interpretations of these
ancient beliefs in a way that was not outwardly corrupt or blasphemous. By exploiting the human
dimension of understanding beliefs, Euripides was able to insert... Show more content on

The next example of satire is in Ion as translated by Robert Potten. In this play, Euripides allows
for the characters to express their disgust for the ancient deities. Is it then Just exclaims Ion, that
you who gave the laws / to mortals, should yourselves transgress those laws? (lines 450 451). Ion
goes on to express his contempt with the gods that can clearly be seen as satirical: The penalty of
forced embraces, thou, Neptune, and Jove, that reigns supreme in heaven, Will leave your temples
treasure less by paying The mulcts of your injustice (lines 454 457).
This reveals the nature of the satire that Euripides chose to pursue. This was more of a rhetorical
example of how the gods fail in their own laws, yet man is bound by them. In using the fallacy of
begging the question, Euripides allows for the audience to think that they can answer the question
differently, yet Euripides has already put the conclusion, or answer, within the prose by using the
premise, Will leave your temples treasure less... (line 456). In Heracles, as translated by E.P.
Coleridge, we can see a similar sort of satire being used to question the gods. Amphytron, husband
of Alcmene, who is the mother of Heracles, continuously uses satire when speaking of the gods. In
his complaint against Zeus, for the seduction of Alcmene, and for abandoning Heracles, Amphytron
states, O Zeus, in vain it seems, did I get thee to share my bride with me; in

Fodor And Pylyshyn Summary
If Fodor and Pylyshyn are correct and every case of seeing a thing involves seeing a thing as
something or other, then we must reject Dretske s second proposition: if S sees x, and x is F,
that does not imply that S sees that x is an F. This is because, seeing x (a thing) as something or
other is equivalent to seeing a fact about x (that x is F). If I see a thing (a tree for instance) as
something or other (say, a Ficus), then I see a fact about that tree (that tree is a Ficus). Thus, for
the purposes that Fodor and Pylyshyn use the term seeing as and Dretske uses seeing facts, we
can consider these terms interchangeable. This leaves us with the following proposition: every
case of seeing must also involve fact seeing. Thus, we are now in a position where if S sees x, and
x is F, that does imply that S sees that x is F.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fodor and Pylyshyn are careful to place these constraints on their notion of seeing as in their
paper. They point out that if I see Tonto s friend as the man on the horse, it does not follow that I
see the Lone Ranger. This is because the man on the horse is the intentional object of my
perception, not the Lone Ranger. I may not be able to take on the Lone Ranger as an intentional
object because I may not know who the Lone Ranger is, or, I may believe the Lone Ranger to be
a myth therefore I only see a man dressed as the Lone Ranger. Thus, when we say that every case
of seeing involves fact seeing, we are not saying that every case of seeing involves seeing just
any facts. Rather, we can only see the facts that we are aware of; Tonto s friend on the horse for
instance. Now that we have suitably constrained our proposition, we can properly address how it
affects Dretske s analysis of change

Although many people oppose the this sort of running because it causes injury, but in reality it
is a great thing for the people of Spain. The practice of the Running of the Bulls in Spain has a
profoundly positive impact because it leads to increased money, creates unity, and results in
respect for Saints and animals. Most importantly, the practice of the Running of the Bulls benefits
the people of Spain because it unites the people of Spain with a fun festival. For example,
according to one source, Each year, the city hosts 1,000,000 participants over the week (Sainz).

Theistic Evolution
Have you ever wondered how the universe came into existence? There are several different
theories or views on the origin of the world. Three of these views would include but not limited to:
theistic evolution, the big bang theory, and the view called abiogenesis.
Theistic Evolution is the belief that there is a God but he is not directly involved with the world.
This is the belief that the world was not created in one moment, without a conscious thought or
occurred naturally on its own. Theistic evolutionists believe the earth was created over a period
of time. They also believe that God only helped the process of creation. They don t believe he
created the earth or did any of the heavy lifting. The people who believe in this way are typically
those who want a religion that looks at life from a scientific point of view. This person in particular
blames God for the darkness in this world. They believe that God is just sitting back, watching as
the world turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who actively believe this theory, think that the universe has a beginning. They believe the
universe has not always existed. They believe that one moment there was nothing and another
moment the universe existed. What is currently known as the Big Bang Theory was evolved
from the standard theory. The standard theory says that the universe came into existence as
singularity around 13.7 billion years ago (Big Bang Theory). Singularities are believed to have
originated at the heart of black holes. If one can see a black hole, one is too close. Therefore
will be sucked into the black hole. Due to the powerful force of the black hole s gravitational
pull. A singularity is defined as interminably small in size, immensely hot in temperature and
extremely dense. Those who believe in the Big Bang Theory believe the universe expanded and
cooled, going from very, very small and very, very hot, to the size and temperature of our current
universe (Big Bang

For the Period Before 1750, Analyze the Ways in Which...
Topic: For the period before 1750, analyze the ways in which Britain s policy of Salutary Neglect
influenced the development of American society as illustrated in the following: Legislative
assemblies, commerce, religion. Before 1750, the undocumented British policy of salutary neglect
greatly impacted the methods through which American colonists regulated their daily lives.
Through mercantilist thought processes, Britain created the colonies merely for gain of the mother
terrain itself. Therefore, it did not give them any specific attention and allowed them to simply rule
itself by personal means and this idea makes up salutary neglect. The colonies used their own
assemblies, such as the House of Burgesses, to govern themselves.... Show more content on

Primarily colonial leadership could make this decision, because the gist of the situation
comprised of keeping the slaves from taking advantage of the fact that England allowed freedom
under certain circumstances. Economically, the Crown did not provide as much assistance as
needed to the colonists of the New World. Trade involved mainly countries other than England,
because this way profits were maximized. England, once again, created its colonies for
mercantilist reasons: profits and only profits. In reaction to these trade schemes, the Navigation
Acts were enforced. Smuggling then grew extremely popular mainly because of price
differences and simple convenience. Agriculturally, the main crops were indigo, sugarcane,
tobacco, cotton, and rice. Due to high demand, several workers were needed. Through the
Triangular trade, raw materials went to England and the Northern Colonies, slaves came to the
plantation dominated areas of the colonies, and manufactured goods went to the West Indies.
Molasses was turned into rum in New England and traded for more slaves as well. Religious
freedom was one of the main causes for English peoples to move to the New World. They
escaped from the de catholicization of the Church of England in order to believe in what they
wanted to belive in. The government once again did not pay any heed to set an official religious
set of rules in the colonies, therefore allowing the people to

Differentiation Strategy Of Zara
Differentiation strategy
A differentiation strategy seeks to provide products or services that offer benefit that are different
from those of competitors and that are widely valued by buyers. (Johnson, Scholes Whittington,
2008). The aim of using differentiation strategy is to achieve competitive advantage. This could be
achieved for example like the clothing brand ZARA, by offering better products at the same price.
A differentiation strategy must be based on two key factors: the strategic customers, the company
has to identify their needs and values, company also must identify who are its main competitors.

It is a marketing concept which was first proposed by Edward Chamberlin in 1933, in the Theory

Essay On Pollution In Textile Mill
Research
Pollution
Most processes performed in textile mills produce atmospheric emissions. Gaseous emissions have
been identified as the second greatest pollution problem (after effluent quality) for the textile
industry. Speculation concerning the amounts and types of air pollutants emitted from textile
operations has been widespread but, generally, air emission data for textile manufacturing
operations are not readily available. Air pollution is the most difficult type of pollution to sample,
test, and quantify in an audit.
Air emissions can be classified according to the nature of their sources:
Point sources:
Boilers
Ovens
Storage tanks
Diffusive:
Solvent based
Wastewater treatment
Warehouses
Spills
Textile mills usually generate nitrogen and sulphur oxides from boilers. Other significant sources of
air emissions in textile operations include resin finishing and drying operations, printing, dyeing,
fabric preparation, and wastewater treatment plants. Hydrocarbons are emitted from drying ovens
and from mineral oils in high temperature drying/curing. These processes can emit formaldehyde,
acids, softeners, and other volatile compounds.
Residues from fibre preparation sometimes emit pollutants during heat setting processes. Carriers
and solvents may be emitted during dyeing operations depending on the types of dyeing processes
used and from wastewater treatment plant operations. Carriers used in batch dyeing of disperse
dyes may lead to

Federal Budget Cuts For Domestic Programs And Foreign Aid...
During the activity, I chose federal budget cuts for domestic programs and foreign aid. I cut
foreign aid in half. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have
already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as
starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by
5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of
our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000
government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more
money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In
addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and
Afghanistan to 30,000 by 2013. We do not needthe troops in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. The war
is over. Let the country figure out what it needs to do by itself. We helped create the uprising
there, so we can help diminish it by reducing troops. I also chose federal budget cuts for
healthcare. I enacted medical malpractice reform. I think it is important that our doctors research
as much as they can about a procedure or a medicine, so that they can provide the proper care for a
patient and reduce the risk of getting sued.
Moreover, I reduced the tax break for employer provider health insurance. Employers should not tax

English teachers do not give examples of how to write or put ideas together. Watching someone do
something is easier for me. That is how I learned to cook at such a young age.
As a child, my parents never physically taught me how to cook. I would watch my Mom and Dad
cook dishes that are native to them. I would watch my Dad make Adobo, filling the air with a
lovely smell of salt and vinegar. I would watch my Mom make Pozole, moving in the kitchen like
Taz, never stopping to rest. I would watch what ingredients they use; noticing how the ingredients,
when mixed with others, created a new masterpiece.
I learned to cook Mexican and Filipino foods by observing my parents. But I know how to cook
more than just Mexican and Filipino foods. I know how to cook Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese,
Vietnamese, Spanish, American, and much more. I learned to cook these foodtypes by watching the
Food Network channel. Instead of being a normal child, watching cartoons when they got home and
on the weekends, I would watch the Food Network, taking mental notes of what they were cooking
and the techniques they used, not realizing that I was learning.
When I first started cooking, I had trouble. I burnt myself. I burnt the food. I dropped the food. I
did not know what tools to use. It was a total mess;

Patient Satisfaction Is A Driving Force Of Today s Health...
A.Process or Procedure Patient satisfaction is a driving force in today s health care system.
Incorporating the patient in their care will help with the patients healing process as well as
encouraging the patient to be more compliant with their prescribed care. Bedside reporting is a
practice that some organizations have incorporated in their standards of care. The patients care does
not stop when the nurse s shift ends. Therefore, it is important for the patient s information to be
conveyed accurately to the oncoming nurse. Conducting shift reports at the bedside allows the
oncoming nurse to both visualize and interact with the patient much sooner than if the nurse had
received report in another manner. Furthermore, bedside reporting allows the patient to interact
with both nurses; and allows them to see that their care is being properly managed. This type of
reporting also allows the oncoming nurse to ask questions, as other methods of shift reporting
limits the oncoming nurse from interacting and asking questions of the off going nurse. Patient
satisfaction as well as accurate transfer of information and patient safety is a crucial part in
providing quality patient care. A1. Discussion of Process or Procedure Audio recorded shift
reporting has been the standard for a shift to shift report for some time now. This recording is
prepared by the off going nurse and includes demographics of the patient such as history, reason for

Judicial Politics and Behavior
Judicial Politics And Behavior YourFirstName YourLastName University title Q.1 Firing or
sacking is an informal word for dismissal which is termination of employment by employer
against the employees will. Firing is a common term particularly in US and it is also known as
as sacked, boned, axed, canned or given walking papers. Being fired as oppesed to qutting the
job voluntarily (being laid off), is perceived being the employee s fault thus considered a sign of
failure and disgraceful. Since finding a new or another job is is difficult after firing and

They are called dinosaurs or inept human resource administrators. They are mainly racist and un

Consistency in the documentation is key (Stephen, 2009). Harmony between the employer s
reason for why the firing took place and the documentation on the employee s work history can
mean the difference between a simple parting of ways and a prolonged and messy legal battle,
and employment attorneys know this. If an ex employee s lawyer, looking for evidence of a
wrongful termination, sees a lack of consistency in the employee s personnel files or a lack or
records at all, employers should consider that blood on the water. Another very important
consideration is whether an employee slated for possible termination is a member of a protected
class. Federal law prohibits discrimination based on a number of factors such as race, color,
religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, disability, or citizenship.State and local laws also can
provide additional protection to employees. For example, no federal law currently protects against
discrimination based on sexual orientation but a large number of states do. State by state

What Is The Theme Of Battle Royal By Ralph Ellison
A Not so Royal Battle
There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time
when we fail to protest (Wiesel). Battle Royal, a short story by Ralph Ellison, marks the
resolution of the Civil War and slavery in the United States. The narrator s grandfather, who was
freed from slavery 85 years earlier, had just died. The narrator was chosen to give a speech in an
ensemble of rich whites. In the beginning, it seems as though he s hesitant on reciting his speech,
but he is blindfolded with multiple others and put into a boxing ring where all of them fight. Not to
mention, he was beaten badly.
In addition, he has to fight with Tatlock, but now the blindfold has been taken off by the Whites
once again he is beaten. He and the others are then put around a rug and are told to get the coins or
crumpled up bills, but little did they know that the rug was electrified. So as they raced to get the
money, they were shocked. Then the MC tells him that he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I say that this is about the war but it is the war that the narrator is blinded because of these three
main points: the mention of fighting, symbolism, and animal imagery.
The grandfather mentioned in the beginning of the story to keep up the good fight (Ellison 247).
War is the topic, such as fighting for what is right unlike combat war; in which the narrator was
blind to. Racial relations in the United States, even after the end of the Civil War, and the era of
Reconstruction, are described as an ongoing war, and the struggle of African Americans to gain
equality is referred to as the good fight (Brent 2). Gaining equal right as the Whites are what the
African Americans want. Our life is a war (Trimmer 46). Life is war because people are always
fighting for what is right. The narrator thought that everything that happened was actually fine. He
wasn t upset by it at all as long as he got to do his speech. As a matter of fact, he was

In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinso, Categorical...
In Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, the story follows Ruth and Lucille as they pass through
the care of their mother, grandmother, great aunts, and finally their mother s transient sister, Sylvie.
While Ruth is generally passively accepting of the care or lack thereof that she receives from these
women, no matter how unconventional, Lucille purposefully sets herself against Sylvie. After
existing outside of the boundaries that society imposes for the majority of her adult life, Sylvie is
unable to provide the structured normality to which Lucille so desperately cleaves. In their own
methods of seeking happiness, Sylvie prefers a fluid way of housekeeping, while Lucille needs
strict adherence to convention. The polar relationship that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even while Sylvie is trying to live without boundaries, in the way that she claims makes her feel the
most at peace, she contemplates suicide. She walked up the bank, and stood looking across the
bridge for a moment, and then she began carefully, tie by tie, out onto it. Slowly she walked on
and on, until she was perhaps fifty feet out over the water... I ve always wondered what it would
be like. (81 82) Sylvie knows that the only way to live unrestricted is to die, much the way Helen
did. In reality, however, society even places restrictions death. While the decedent may not be
sentient and aware of such things, the categories of natural death, accidental death, and suicide are
all seen within Housekeeping, and are a way of defining the lives of those who die after their
deaths. However, it is her earthly restrictions her obligations to Ruth and Lucille that prevent Sylvie
from committing suicide.
In extreme contrast, Lucille has boundaries, and if society has an expectation, Lucille is going to
follow it. Though the community did not peer through the windows at suppertime, Lucille requires
complete normalcy from herself at all times. She insisted on light at suppertime. She found three
place settings of china and began demanding meat and vegetables. (102) These demands are not
unreasonable, but for a child to be requiring such things rather than grilled cheese sandwiches is
odd what kid

The Selfish Gene Chapter Summary
The Selfish Gene is a book written by Richard Dawkins, in 1976. The Selfish Gene is a very

Examples Of Selfishness In An Enemy Of The People
In Henrik Ibsen s An Enemy of the People, he showcases and explores theme of naivety and
selfishness lead to the wrong decisions throughout his play with the use of both detail and diction.
With these in mind, he demonstrates the significant value and importance of properly
understanding the truth and relevance in this play. The play begins in an unnamed town, in
southern Norway.
In the play, Ibsen often portrays the main character, Dr. Thomas Stockmann, as an individual
who is not only naive and childish, but out of touch with his own reality. This allows the reader
to perceive these characteristics through his giddy actions and tone of voice. In Act I, Scene I,
Dr. Stockmann returns with company and says, Look here here is another guest for you,
Katherine. Isn t that jolly! (5). The readers very first impression of a man who is presumed to be
professional and will end up taking care of the town, is of a grown man who has just returned
home and is more excited to showcase the large amount of meat he has with due respect as they
finally have the money to share their meat. Later, he continues to showcase his newfound wealth
by saying, ...and we have got a lamp shade too. Do you see? All out of Katherine s savings! (7).
While it is clear that Stockmann is still excited to show off that he has money, he goes about this in
a childish and condescending way. This is one of the many consequences that can result from
naivety. Although, that s not to say that he shouldn t be

The screwdriver was firstly seen in the 19th century, which came from the flat bladed bit used in a

P1
The materials mostly used to make the parts is plastic for the handle, steel bar and chromium (or

For the steel bar, large amounts of green wire is sent to a factory. The wire is drawn to the correct
size diameter by a machine and after the wire is made into a rod. Then the rod is made to its
correct size by being put inside a die. To produce the correct strength for the wire goes through

a string forge the wire is straightened and is put in a cold forming press. This makes the wire
have its correct length by cutting it, it also forms the screwdriver tip and the wings for the handle
for it to correctly fit. After this, by the heated wire. Blades are formed for the tip from the dies. This
is done when the screwdriver goes in the press. After all this the tool has formed wings and it is

Essay on The True Villian in Frankenstein
Mary Shelly wrote the Gothic tale Frankenstein. In the novel, who is the true villain, the Monster or
Victor Frankenstein? Which character do you have the most sympathy for?
Mary Shelly wrote the novel Frankenstein using gothic techniques.
Nearly 200 years after the book was first published in 1818 the readers still debate about the real
villain of the story.
Victor Frankenstein could be the hero of the story; the reader sympathises with him when he suffers
the loss of his mother, his brother William, wife Elizabeth, his father and friend Clerval. This
extreme suffering that Victor goes through is a characteristic of romantic heroes. Also as Victor is

The fact he also has no parents is reflected on that he has no name; a child s name is normally
given by their parents. This makes the reader feel sorry for the monster as it emphasises the fact
that he has been abandoned by Victor and has no parents. The theme of alienation is carried on
throughout the story and can be seen in the point of the De
Lacey s who are thrown out of France. The monster is also alienated by the De Lacey s who
reject him even though helps them out as he grows to love them. He is rejected as Felix, Agatha
and Safie return and see him with the old man. This rejection and alienation makes the reader
feel sorry for the monster as it is purely prejudice of his looks. The readers see the monster as
very calm as he restrains his anger when he sees Victor and doesn t harm him. Also his language is
very eloquent and persuasive he compares Frankenstein to God saying that Victor is his, natural
lord and king and that he ought to be Victor s Adam.
The monster flatters Victor and uses rhetorical questions to get
Victor thinking so that he would listen to his story and this is all after he is threatened and
insulted by him. Also the monster regrets what he did to Victor this shows that he has feelings and
a conscience. The reader feels for the monster because of the use of embedded narration, which
allows the readers to see the story

Latin American Culture Analysis
Drug cartels and drug wars have been a big issue in Mexico and other Latin American countries
over the past two decades. When people hear the term drug war , they immediately think of the
notorious Narco, Pablo Escobar, who during the 80 s was one of the DEA and FBI s most wanted
criminals. With the ongoing war on drugs in Mexico, the whole history and idea of drug cartels
and trafficking of drugs has become a popular and compelling storyline for television series in
America. With that being said, the increase of drug related shows in American television negatively
reflects the image of Latin Americans in the US through: racial stereotypes, poor representation on
TV, and a lack of character development.

Gus is a Latin American and Walter is a White American. The scholarly source brings up a point
that shows tend to stereotype minorities while they showed White characters as authority figure
(Gonzalez iii). The idolization of Walter could have to do with the fact that viewers don t have
much to compare the representation of Latin Americans to, Americans know their own culture
and not much about Latinos. So, the way Latin Americans are portrayed specifically in Breaking
Bad and Narcos doesn t give the viewers anything to compare to. Thus, they might believe actions
and routines of Latin American characters to be accurate which leads to a negative image.
Nonetheless, Gus is essentially another version of Walter, they are both very meticulous with
their work and never trust strangers. But due to the way the show is portrayed, Gus doesn t get
enough scenes or backstories for the viewers to be able to relate to him. When viewers can relate
to a character, they start to idolize them since they have characteristics or attitudes in common.
Also, Gus isn t introduced in the series until a later season. As a result, by the time he is

problem in said story, before concluding with an solution or discovery about the underlying aspects

manage to tie themselves into the greater problem. For example, the first chapter, titled how is a

Despite saying that she dislikes prostitution, she admits she would do a lot more if it payed twice
as much. The chapter follows this up with a history of prostitution in Chicago. It discusses how
women were likely to become prostitutes because it payed so much more. Then the chapter
analyzes why it payed so much more by going into the supply and demand of the field. Sex was in
high demand. Prostitutes were in low supply. Therefore it was a high paying job. Overtime, as the
stigma increased and casual sex became the social norm, demand lowered, and now the modern
prostitute makes a fraction of what prostitutes made a hundred years ago. After much more

even non prostitutes take up prostitution during certain times of the year (the fourth of july

Good Moral Character In Silas Marner
I believe that the development of good moral character is defined by both the choices that we
make, and the experiences that we endure because of those choices. For example, If one chooses
to act out of vice, then he can expect to experience a life that is not surprisingly miserable,
because he is choosing to act out of pure self interest. On a similar level the same is true for virtue,
although it would be the opposite seeing as how virtue is based out of kindness and in doing
what is morally right. Sometimes, the choices that we make can even lead to an unexpected
twist of events, where a person who might be stuck on vice ends up choosing to take a path that
is ultimately virtuous. In the same way, the film Silas Marner reflects this idea when it comes to
three of the films main characters. Throughout the film, each of these characters must work
through a collection of their own choices and experiences, and by the end of the film we get a
better sense of whether or not their moral character has developed, and if so in what ways. Lets
begin with looking at the first of these characters, Dunstan Cass. Dunstan Cass, younger brother
of Godfrey Cass, is the very epitome of what it is like to live a life lead by vice. The only
concerns that he has are those of his own self interest, and he lacks any sense of moral virtue
whatsoever. He is arrogant, selfish, completely vile, and has an impeccable talent for lying and
being dishonest. In the words of Plutarch, Any admixture of

Truman And The Cold War
The United States came out of World War II ready to concentrate on domestic issues, but
unfortunately, the more pressing issue of the Cold War needed addressing. Democracy and
communism challenged the world order and the United States and the USSR took center stage on
determining the world s economic, social and political future for the next forty five years. Each
American president handled the power differently, acted on what he thought was in the best interest
of the United States, and took on the Cold Warthrough words and actions that often translated to
real war but never directly with Russia.
The basis of the idea was clearly spoken in a 1946 cable by U.S. peacekeeper George F. Kennan
during the after World War II management of U.S.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Masstige Brand Positioning
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this study is to verify the positioning of the new luxury brands in relation to
traditional luxury brands and middle range brands, and to draw implications for both academics
and practitioners. In other words, to show that in terms of perceived prestige new luxury brands are
substantially closer to traditional prestige brands than middle range brands. In terms of price,
however, they are substantially closer to middle range brands than traditional luxury brands.
INTRODUCTION:
A masstige positioning strategy is viewed as very innovative and effective because it combines a

In the case of Pond s, the attempt is to elevate the ubiquitous brand from talc and powder to a
premium skin care brand.
Thus, Pond s is being positioned across platforms such as anti ageing, skin lightening lotion and
also day cream, with a slight premium on price. The price points range from Rs 50 to Rs 650. It
s expensive yet not unaffordable. Suddenly, from a simple cold cream, Pond s is on a range of
platforms reaching the target audience across different formats. We want Pond s to be the face
care expert and we can t do that if we are at the bottom of the pile, Paranjpe explains. Similarly,
Lakme was always considered a premium brand and in the last 12 months, efforts are on to
significantly upgrade the way it is perceived by the masstige audience.
Nowhere is the phenomenon more visible than in consumer durables and mobile handsets.
Masstige is a differentiated strategy across various product lines, explains Ravinder Zutshi, deputy
MD, and Samsung India. Zutshi s betting big on the LCD market which will show exponential
growth in time to come. He estimates the market to be around 150,000 units this year, which will
jump to 400,000 units by 2007. This is in line with the global market, which has risen to 40 million
units this year, from 20 million last year, he says.

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists...
For being over eight hundred years, the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists
remained in remarkable condition. However, pieces of the original piece, which originated in the
Catalan chapel in Spain, have faded. Portions, especially along the bottom, have disappeared over
time. Even though historians moved it to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, it has not been fully
restored. The artist identified each of the apostles in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four
Evangelists, but the writing has grown fainter and this creates a difficulty for art historians.
Another key factor in the overall story represented has faded one of the lamps or incense holders
beneath Christ. The positions of the stories in the apse show... Show more content on

The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists uses an interesting technique in its
apse, compared to previous Byzantine decorations in apses. It incorporates the technique of
fresco painting, where artists painted pigments into the plaster and wood on the walls so the
paint would become one with the walls similar to methods used in ancient Greece, compared to
exercising mosaics as decorations in apses. The artist mostly employed primary pigments in the
Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists to make the figures stand out. A
repetition occurs in the pigments with red, gold like yellow, and blue with the occasional purple
and the hair colors vary with tones of brown and grayish white. The style portrayed in the Christ
in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists follows previous rules with the representation of
divine figures in churches. The proportions of the piece utilizes the hierarchy scale with the most
important figure Christ. The figure of Christ is the largest image shown in the apse, and other
figures such as the apostles, the four symbols of the evangelists, and the scenes from the New
Testament are roughly the same size. The smallest figures appear in the windows the sacrifice
scenes with Cain and Abel. The artist employed a more decorative aspect to the drapery of the
figures than a naturalistic

Factors That Increase My Dairy Intake
Looking at the above increase list, I decided to increase my portion of vegetables to at least 1.5 cup
by including more variety of veggies to my morning breakfast smoothies and as a side of salad or
steamed veggies at every meal. Vegetables are excellent sources of an array of vitamins especially
brightly colored veggies and dark green veggies. By including more veggies in my diet, I am
essentially helping myself up my intake of vitamins as well, since I am especially low in vitaminA,
vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin E and folate, by increasing consumption of veggies
from different subgroups like brightly colored veggies ( e.g. sweet potatoes, carrots and red
peppers) , dark leafy greens (e.g. kale, collard and spinach) and cruciferous vegetables (e.g.
broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower), which are packed with vitamins like vitamin A,
vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and folate. Next on my list, is to
increase my dairy intake by including low fat yogurt and fortified soy milk, for example, 1 cup
of Silk soy milk provides not only vitamin D, but also vitamins A and vitamin B12. This will help
me increase my vitamin D intake, which I was sadly below the recommendation. Also by including
more fatty fish like salmon and tuna in my diet will also help me increase my vitamin D intake.
Another good source of vitamin D intake is the sun, so spending some time early in the mornings
without sunscreen will also help me achieve this goal.

Fall of the Romanov Dynasty
Was Nicholas solely responsible for the revolution of 1917?
The revolution of 1917 was the culmination of a number of factors coming together and causing
the volatile mix of reasons to come together and boil over. The people of Russia where fed up with
the horrible conditions they had to put up with and decided to do something about it. Some factor I
will discuss include the industrialization,
Nicholas introduced several policies which harmed his countries economic prosperity. One thing
that caused massive instability was the encouragement of industrialization. Many peasants decided
to move to the urban areas in search of a better life, with the most growth in St Petersburg (55%
between 1891 and 1900). These peasants found work in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russia immediately declared war with Germany, and the fighting began. Soon the Tsar realised that
his visions of a short, glorious victory where never going to happen and soon the two waring
parties where entrenched in a slow, bloody war. From the outset, the Germans held every advantage
over Russia, on and supporting the battlefield.
This war created more economic problems in the cities of Russia. Inflation had know gripped
the city with some goods and services prices rising by up to 300%. Food became less and less
affordable and soon there where scuffles breaking out across the city over essentials such as bread.
The Tsar was feeling the pressure and decided to command his army from the front, taking full
responsibility for the war. With Nicholas on the battlefront, Alexandria took over the running of the
government. The situation was bad enough, and the Tsarinas poor political skill did nothing to
appease the situation. Urgent telegrams where sent to the Tsar, urging him to come back to the city
and try and stabilise the situation. Nicholas showed great ignorance when it came to this advice In
replying to one such telegram from the leader of the Duma, he replied That fatty Rodzianko has
sent me some nonsense, which I shan t even answer
Finally, the pressure told and the people revolted. When the Petrograd garrison did not carry out the
orders of the government (and instead joined the

Human-To-Bear Research Papers
Bears in Florida will be having a bad week in October thanks to the Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission s (FWC) approval of a bear hunt Wednesday. This hunt is Florida s first
in more than two decades. It aims to control increasing bear populations and human to bear conflict.
WHY THE FWC APPROVED THE BEARHUNT
According to the FWC, hunting supports keeping population size in check, fewer bears being
pushed into neighborhoods and increasing wariness and fear of humans. Bears were removed
from Florida s threatened species list in 2012. About 300 bears are expected to be killed by an
unlimited number of permitted hunters. Florida has an estimated 3,150 black bears in four regions
the eastern Panhandle, Northeast Florida, east central Florida and South Florida where the hunts
would be conducted, according to the Panama City New Herald. The numbers are based on 2002
estimates for the eastern Panhandle and South Florida, and a 2014 count in the Northeast Florida
and east central Florida regions.
RULES OF THE BEAR HUNT
Bear permits are $100 for Florida residents and $300 for non residents, according to the FWC.
Permit sales end midnight on the night before the seven day hunting season, which begins Oct. 24
and runs until the 30th. There is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kate MacFall, Florida state director for The Humane Society of the United States, said in a
statement, By sanctioning a trophy hunt on bears in lieu of effective solutions on human bear
conflicts, the FWC has ignored sound science, responsible wildlife management and the majority
of Floridians who oppose a hunt on this highly vulnerable and rare sub species of bear, found
nowhere else in the world outside its range. She said the society will continue to oppose the hunt,
which she says is unjustified and will likely lead to inhumane practices like hounding and baiting in

Nancy Parsons Exotic Dress
After reading a description of the portrait painting, such as the one written above, or simply by
looking at it, one might be confused as to how Nancy Parsons in Turkish Dress displays this person
s role as a courtesan. This is due to the fact that there are no overly overt signs for the modern
viewer to understand immediately without some in depth research. For instance, she is not shown
partially or completely nude to indicate her selling of sexual services. Yet, when one understands
the traditional interpretationof a direct gaze at the viewer or the hiddenmeaning behind Parsons
exotic dress within its historical context, it becomes quite clear that she is a courtesan. Nancy

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both CNN and FOX News both news media s told a lot about Pope Benedict and the British Parliament at Westminster Hall, the place where the Pope gave his speech. Both news medias had the same reports about the six people getting arrested and still remaining in custody because some reports that the arrests were because of threats that were made to the Pope. FOX News and CNN both reported about the how Benedict would began his day by meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and opposition leader Harriet Harman. Both also reported the pope offered his condolences to Cameron about his father s death. Each of the three gave the pope gift; this was only reported by FOX News. CNN reported that the pope prayed alongside the archbishop of Canterbury at the tomb of Edward the Confessor that died in 1066 and FOX News reported that the pope was schedule to visit with the elderly before celebrating evening prayer service I Hyde Park in preparation for Sunday s beatification of Cardinal John Harry Newman, a 19th century convert from Anglicanism whom the pope wants to hold up as a model of faithful. • 3. A Metaphorical View Into Kindred A Metaphorical View into Kindred In Kindred by Octavia Butler, Dana is subject to many different wounds all over her body; the more involved Dana becomes in the story the more damaging the wounds are to her everyday function. These wounds, their severity, and their position represent certain emotional and mental scars in Dana made by her travels into the 1800 s.The most severe of these wounds and the bait of the novel, since it is the opening chapter and I am awaiting for this scene throughout the book, is the losing of her left arm. Losing such a vital part of one s body can be devastating and for some this can be an unsurpassable obstacle, but for Dana is a reminder of her travels, her new found knowledge, and her... Self inflicted wounds for Dana at the beginning of the novel might have been an improbability but as the story progresses it become an almost certainty, this is one reason why this wound was so significant for Dana, the only thing the reader does not know is when she will make the leap. This wound is larger to Dana mentally than physically because it first shows how far she was able to go in order to stop the pain and to end all her problems. Second, because the wounds won t hurt her after they heal and they are big enough to be intrusive with her day to day life, yet they are significantly out in the open to serve as reminders of her changes. The scars that will come from the slits will surely remind Dana of how horrible the past can be and how it far it can push a person no matter how strong their character is. Furthermore, it shows Dana that no matter how bad your past can be it was necessary for someone to be the way they are or in her case the reason that she exists. Finally, we are brought back to that scene in the hospital that the novel opened with, the reader sees that when Dana is thrown back into the 1900 s after killing the very person she was sent to protect, she appears with her arm inside, and ... Economic Perspective Of Climate Change Luzhen Wu Professor Belfied Eco 228W 5/8/16 Economic perspective of Climate change Climate is an average weather condition during a region in a given period, it will not change by one day or one night, but instead caused through over time. From the perspective of meteorology, The climate changerefers to a specific location, time of regional or global climate change or conversion, based on the all of the conditions associated with the average weather characteristics, such as temperature, wind and precipitation etc. According to the IPCC s Synthesis Report, Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have increased since the pre industrial era, driven largely by economic and population growth, and are now higher than ever. This has led to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide that are unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years. Their effects, together with those of other anthropogenic drivers, have been detected throughout the climate system and are extremely likely to have been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid 20th century (Page4) Human are the main reason to cause the climate change. • 6. British Imperialism in India Essay Englishmen.. have given the people of India the greatest human blessing peace. (Dutt). Merely coming to India in the 1600s to trade, the British East India Company established trading outposts. After ridding of French influence in India during the Seven Years War and having Indians mutiny against British rule, Britain gained full control of India. India has been under the imperialist control of the British until their independence in 1947. British imperialism caused some negative effects on India through poverty and persecution, but retained more of a positive impact due to its massive improvements in the modernization of India and the overall improvement of Indian civilization. Despite impacting India very positively, imperialism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way modernization is illustrated in India is through agriculture and industry, notwithstanding the effects it had on Indians. Industry guided India to a much stronger economy, arguably guiding them to holding a spot in the top ten economies in the world (O.I). Irrigation cultivated approximately 30 million acres, awarding the country great agricultural wealth. Along with wealth also came a disappearance of the famines in India. Collectively, the country of India as a whole benefited from this modernization as it set a higher standard of living for the population. As India s modernization developed, the entire civilization of India improved remarkably. The country s improvement of civilization is exemplified through it s establishment of schools and law. Western education was introduced by Britain and laws were well made with courts that enforce them. (Doc 3). One should take into account the speaker of this document because Romesh Dutt is an Indian like any other, yet he praises the British for what they have done to contribute to the development of India. In addition to these establishments is Britain bringing finer ideals of humanity to India. Infanticide, the killing of female babies, was brought to a halt as well as participation in the slave trade (Doc 5). Without the interference of Britain, these inhumane actions would be prevalent throughout India and the country would suffer from a bad reputation. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ethics Of Adolescent Diversion Project Essay Upon my research I found out that there are many justices related programs from a restorative or community framework that are being offered and available to people all ages, from 0 to 4 and even 55+, races and genders. In order to determine what program I want to look deeper into and examine, I turned to the Office of Justice Programs website which lists over 400 programs available. The website points out what programs work and where tested and those that where deemed as failed researches and programs, more specifically 90 effective programs, 272 as promising, and 81 as no effect. One particular program that I was interested in and is listed as one of the effective programs and applies to my set of principles is Adolescent Diversion Project (ADP) or another name they use is Michigan State UniversityAdolescent Project (MSUAP) which was founded and is practiced at Michigan State University. The set of principles that I found Adolescent Diversion Project (ADP) program relevant to are: restorative justice should not be mandated in a top down authoritarian process, no single road map or blueprint for every individual involved, all persons involved must be prepared to make mistakes, assistance provided should help people involved in the long run, crimeinvolves disruptions in a three dimensional relationship of victim, community, and offender, the primary goals should be to repair the harm, heal the victim and the community, and rehabilitate offenders. • 8. Intermolecular Forces Essay Intermolecular forces are the attractive and/or repulsive forces among independent particles, such as molecules, atoms, or ions, within a sample of matter. These forces differ from chemical bonds, or intramolecular forces, because chemical bonds exist between the atoms of a single molecule. For example, intermolecular forces could be described as the forces that attract many water molecules together, while chemical bonds refer to the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms of a single water molecule. Chemical bonds are also generally more permanent and stronger than intermolecular forces. There are various types of intermolecular forces, all which differ in strength. These forces include: ion ion forces, dipole dipole forces, ion dipole forces, ion induced dipole, dipole induced dipole, and London dispersion forces. The amount of charge, how it is distributed, and how long a charge distribution will last, all factor into how strong the intermolecular forces are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Statistical Weather Prediction And Regional Climate... One way nested Limited Area Models (LAMs) are used in numerical weather prediction and regional climate modelling to downscale coarse resolution global/regional simulations or analyses that are provided as the time evolving Lateral Boundary Conditions (LBC). The LAM integrations are sensitively dependent on infinitesimally small modifications. The so called twin simulations, i.e., LAM integrations identical in all respect, except having slightly different initial conditions, may with time lead to substantially different solutions. This phenomenon has been referred to as internal variability (IV) in the existing literature [e.g., Giorgi and Bi, 2000; Christensen et al., 2001; Rinke et al., 2004; Lucas Picher et al., 2008a; CrГ©tat et al., 2011; Done et al., 2014]. Internal variability is usually quantified in terms of the inter member standard deviation between the simulations pertaining to the different initial conditions. In extended range LAM integrations conducted over months to years, the IV varies with several factors that include the synoptic situation, season of a year, the size and position of the computational domain and the spatial and temporal scales under consideration. For computational domains centered over midlatitudes, IV is typically larger in summer [e.g., Caya and Biner, 2004], increases with the size of the computational domain [Alexandru et al., 2007; RapaiД‡ et al., 2011] and increases downstream with respect to the inflow lateral boundaries [e.g., ... • 10. Satire in the Tragedies of Euripides The world of Euripides tragedies was one that espoused ancient ideas of religion. The belief in ancient legends that formed subject material for the tragic drama had passed. The crowd that attended the theater at this time did so as a sort of religious celebration. It was under these circumstances that Euripideshad to bury what might have been his true beliefs, and instead replace them with ideas that would relate to his audience. This did not mean that Euripides had to forgo his beliefs entirely. Rather, this meant that Euripides had to include his own interpretations of these ancient beliefs in a way that was not outwardly corrupt or blasphemous. By exploiting the human dimension of understanding beliefs, Euripides was able to insert... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next example of satire is in Ion as translated by Robert Potten. In this play, Euripides allows for the characters to express their disgust for the ancient deities. Is it then Just exclaims Ion, that you who gave the laws / to mortals, should yourselves transgress those laws? (lines 450 451). Ion goes on to express his contempt with the gods that can clearly be seen as satirical: The penalty of forced embraces, thou, Neptune, and Jove, that reigns supreme in heaven, Will leave your temples treasure less by paying The mulcts of your injustice (lines 454 457). This reveals the nature of the satire that Euripides chose to pursue. This was more of a rhetorical example of how the gods fail in their own laws, yet man is bound by them. In using the fallacy of begging the question, Euripides allows for the audience to think that they can answer the question differently, yet Euripides has already put the conclusion, or answer, within the prose by using the premise, Will leave your temples treasure less... (line 456). In Heracles, as translated by E.P. Coleridge, we can see a similar sort of satire being used to question the gods. Amphytron, husband of Alcmene, who is the mother of Heracles, continuously uses satire when speaking of the gods. In his complaint against Zeus, for the seduction of Alcmene, and for abandoning Heracles, Amphytron states, O Zeus, in vain it seems, did I get thee to share my bride with me; in ... • 11. Fodor And Pylyshyn Summary If Fodor and Pylyshyn are correct and every case of seeing a thing involves seeing a thing as something or other, then we must reject Dretske s second proposition: if S sees x, and x is F, that does not imply that S sees that x is an F. This is because, seeing x (a thing) as something or other is equivalent to seeing a fact about x (that x is F). If I see a thing (a tree for instance) as something or other (say, a Ficus), then I see a fact about that tree (that tree is a Ficus). Thus, for the purposes that Fodor and Pylyshyn use the term seeing as and Dretske uses seeing facts, we can consider these terms interchangeable. This leaves us with the following proposition: every case of seeing must also involve fact seeing. Thus, we are now in a position where if S sees x, and x is F, that does imply that S sees that x is F.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fodor and Pylyshyn are careful to place these constraints on their notion of seeing as in their paper. They point out that if I see Tonto s friend as the man on the horse, it does not follow that I see the Lone Ranger. This is because the man on the horse is the intentional object of my perception, not the Lone Ranger. I may not be able to take on the Lone Ranger as an intentional object because I may not know who the Lone Ranger is, or, I may believe the Lone Ranger to be a myth therefore I only see a man dressed as the Lone Ranger. Thus, when we say that every case of seeing involves fact seeing, we are not saying that every case of seeing involves seeing just any facts. Rather, we can only see the facts that we are aware of; Tonto s friend on the horse for instance. Now that we have suitably constrained our proposition, we can properly address how it affects Dretske s analysis of change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Theistic Evolution Have you ever wondered how the universe came into existence? There are several different theories or views on the origin of the world. Three of these views would include but not limited to: theistic evolution, the big bang theory, and the view called abiogenesis. Theistic Evolution is the belief that there is a God but he is not directly involved with the world. This is the belief that the world was not created in one moment, without a conscious thought or occurred naturally on its own. Theistic evolutionists believe the earth was created over a period of time. They also believe that God only helped the process of creation. They don t believe he created the earth or did any of the heavy lifting. The people who believe in this way are typically those who want a religion that looks at life from a scientific point of view. This person in particular blames God for the darkness in this world. They believe that God is just sitting back, watching as the world turns ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those who actively believe this theory, think that the universe has a beginning. They believe the universe has not always existed. They believe that one moment there was nothing and another moment the universe existed. What is currently known as the Big Bang Theory was evolved from the standard theory. The standard theory says that the universe came into existence as singularity around 13.7 billion years ago (Big Bang Theory). Singularities are believed to have originated at the heart of black holes. If one can see a black hole, one is too close. Therefore will be sucked into the black hole. Due to the powerful force of the black hole s gravitational pull. A singularity is defined as interminably small in size, immensely hot in temperature and extremely dense. Topic: For the period before 1750, analyze the ways in which Britain s policy of Salutary Neglect influenced the development of American society as illustrated in the following: Legislative assemblies, commerce, religion. Before 1750, the undocumented British policy of salutary neglect greatly impacted the methods through which American colonists regulated their daily lives. Through mercantilist thought processes, Britain created the colonies merely for gain of the mother terrain itself. Therefore, it did not give them any specific attention and allowed them to simply rule itself by personal means and this idea makes up salutary neglect. Primarily colonial leadership could make this decision, because the gist of the situation comprised of keeping the slaves from taking advantage of the fact that England allowed freedom under certain circumstances. Economically, the Crown did not provide as much assistance as needed to the colonists of the New World. Trade involved mainly countries other than England, because this way profits were maximized. England, once again, created its colonies for mercantilist reasons: profits and only profits. In reaction to these trade schemes, the Navigation Acts were enforced. Smuggling then grew extremely popular mainly because of price differences and simple convenience. Agriculturally, the main crops were indigo, sugarcane, tobacco, cotton, and rice. Due to high demand, several workers were needed. Through the Triangular trade, raw materials went to England and the Northern Colonies, slaves came to the plantation dominated areas of the colonies, and manufactured goods went to the West Indies. Molasses was turned into rum in New England and traded for more slaves as well. Religious freedom was one of the main causes for English peoples to move to the New World. Differentiation Strategy Of Zara Differentiation strategy A differentiation strategy seeks to provide products or services that offer benefit that are different from those of competitors and that are widely valued by buyers. (Johnson, Scholes Whittington, 2008). The aim of using differentiation strategy is to achieve competitive advantage. This could be achieved for example like the clothing brand ZARA, by offering better products at the same price. A differentiation strategy must be based on two key factors: the strategic customers, the company has to identify their needs and values, company also must identify who are its main competitors. • 18. Essay On Pollution In Textile Mill Research Pollution Most processes performed in textile mills produce atmospheric emissions. Gaseous emissions have been identified as the second greatest pollution problem (after effluent quality) for the textile industry. Speculation concerning the amounts and types of air pollutants emitted from textile operations has been widespread but, generally, air emission data for textile manufacturing operations are not readily available. Air pollution is the most difficult type of pollution to sample, test, and quantify in an audit. Air emissions can be classified according to the nature of their sources: Point sources: Boilers Ovens Storage tanks Diffusive: Solvent based Wastewater treatment Warehouses Spills Textile mills usually generate nitrogen and sulphur oxides from boilers. Other significant sources of air emissions in textile operations include resin finishing and drying operations, printing, dyeing, fabric preparation, and wastewater treatment plants. Hydrocarbons are emitted from drying ovens and from mineral oils in high temperature drying/curing. These processes can emit formaldehyde, acids, softeners, and other volatile compounds. Residues from fibre preparation sometimes emit pollutants during heat setting processes. I do not think that America needs to help the world anymore. We have already helped out a lot and we should only help towards people that really need it, such as starving Africans, instead of funding wars overseas. I cut the pay of civilian federal workers by 5 percent. People in the federal government get paid more and more every year while citizens of our country get paid a lower minimum wage than a lot of other places in the world. I cut 250,000 government contractors. There are more contractors than government officials, which means more money spent on a government that does not fully have the needs of the country in mind. In addition, I chose federal budget cuts for the military. I reduced the number of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to 30,000 by 2013. We do not needthe troops in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. The war is over. Let the country figure out what it needs to do by itself. We helped create the uprising there, so we can help diminish it by reducing troops. I also chose federal budget cuts for healthcare. I enacted medical malpractice reform. It is the opposite for English: English teachers do not give examples of how to write or put ideas together. Watching someone do something is easier for me. That is how I learned to cook at such a young age. As a child, my parents never physically taught me how to cook. I would watch my Mom and Dad cook dishes that are native to them. I would watch my Dad make Adobo, filling the air with a lovely smell of salt and vinegar. I would watch my Mom make Pozole, moving in the kitchen like Taz, never stopping to rest. I would watch what ingredients they use; noticing how the ingredients, when mixed with others, created a new masterpiece. I learned to cook Mexican and Filipino foods by observing my parents. But I know how to cook more than just Mexican and Filipino foods. I know how to cook Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish, American, and much more. I learned to cook these foodtypes by watching the Food Network channel. Incorporating the patient in their care will help with the patients healing process as well as encouraging the patient to be more compliant with their prescribed care. Bedside reporting is a practice that some organizations have incorporated in their standards of care. The patients care does not stop when the nurse s shift ends. Therefore, it is important for the patient s information to be conveyed accurately to the oncoming nurse. Conducting shift reports at the bedside allows the oncoming nurse to both visualize and interact with the patient much sooner than if the nurse had received report in another manner. Furthermore, bedside reporting allows the patient to interact with both nurses; and allows them to see that their care is being properly managed. This type of reporting also allows the oncoming nurse to ask questions, as other methods of shift reporting limits the oncoming nurse from interacting and asking questions of the off going nurse. Patient satisfaction as well as accurate transfer of information and patient safety is a crucial part in providing quality patient care. A1. This manner is that there is in each chapter an interesting story, followed by an analysis of the problem in said story, before concluding with an solution or discovery about the underlying aspects of the problems. Throughout this there are dozens of seemingly unconnected anecdotes that manage to tie themselves into the greater problem. For example, the first chapter, titled how is a street prostitute like a department store santa? starts off with an interview with a prostitute. Despite saying that she dislikes prostitution, she admits she would do a lot more if it payed twice as much. The chapter follows this up with a history of prostitution in Chicago. It discusses how women were likely to become prostitutes because it payed so much more. Then the chapter analyzes why it payed so much more by going into the supply and demand of the field. Sex was in high demand. Prostitutes were in low supply. Therefore it was a high paying job. Overtime, as the stigma increased and casual sex became the social norm, demand lowered, and now the modern prostitute makes a fraction of what prostitutes made a hundred years ago. After much more discussion on the topic, the book points towards a modern study about prostitution that shows that even non prostitutes take up prostitution during certain times of the year (the fourth of july namely). Then it finishes by tieing back to the original question of the chapter, stating They both take advantage of short term job opportunities brought about by holiday spikes in demand (Levitt, 43). Thus the structure of the book is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Adultery Corrupts Society Essay People use many descriptive words or phrases in an attempt to avoid the term adultery; unfaithfulness, infidelity, playing the field, extramarital relations, and having an affair are just a few. Regardless of how the act is labeled, the net result ends in the destruction of reputation, trust, and respect. Ancient cultures understood adultery to be dangerous, even the writers of the Bible granted the act its own Thou Shalt Not. Many societies, including the U.S., have outlawed adultery; in some cultures the penalty for this crime is death by stoning. • 39. Good Moral Character In Silas Marner I believe that the development of good moral character is defined by both the choices that we make, and the experiences that we endure because of those choices. For example, If one chooses to act out of vice, then he can expect to experience a life that is not surprisingly miserable, because he is choosing to act out of pure self interest. On a similar level the same is true for virtue, although it would be the opposite seeing as how virtue is based out of kindness and in doing what is morally right. Sometimes, the choices that we make can even lead to an unexpected twist of events, where a person who might be stuck on vice ends up choosing to take a path that is ultimately virtuous. In the same way, the film Silas Marner reflects this idea when it comes to three of the films main characters. Throughout the film, each of these characters must work through a collection of their own choices and experiences, and by the end of the film we get a better sense of whether or not their moral character has developed, and if so in what ways. Lets begin with looking at the first of these characters, Dunstan Cass. Dunstan Cass, younger brother of Godfrey Cass, is the very epitome of what it is like to live a life lead by vice. The only concerns that he has are those of his own self interest, and he lacks any sense of moral virtue whatsoever. He is arrogant, selfish, completely vile, and has an impeccable talent for lying and being dishonest. In the words of Plutarch, Any admixture of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists... For being over eight hundred years, the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists remained in remarkable condition. However, pieces of the original piece, which originated in the Catalan chapel in Spain, have faded. Portions, especially along the bottom, have disappeared over time. Even though historians moved it to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, it has not been fully restored. The artist identified each of the apostles in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists, but the writing has grown fainter and this creates a difficulty for art historians. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists uses an interesting technique in its apse, compared to previous Byzantine decorations in apses. It incorporates the technique of fresco painting, where artists painted pigments into the plaster and wood on the walls so the paint would become one with the walls similar to methods used in ancient Greece, compared to exercising mosaics as decorations in apses. The artist mostly employed primary pigments in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists to make the figures stand out. A repetition occurs in the pigments with red, gold like yellow, and blue with the occasional purple and the hair colors vary with tones of brown and grayish white. The style portrayed in the Christ in Majesty with Symbols of the Four Evangelists follows previous rules with the representation of divine figures in churches. The proportions of the piece utilizes the hierarchy scale with the most important figure Christ. The figure of Christ is the largest image shown in the apse, and other figures such as the apostles, the four symbols of the evangelists, and the scenes from the New Testament are roughly the same size. The smallest figures appear in the windows the sacrifice scenes with Cain and Abel. The artist employed a more decorative aspect to the drapery of the figures than a naturalistic ... • 43. Factors That Increase My Dairy Intake Looking at the above increase list, I decided to increase my portion of vegetables to at least 1.5 cup by including more variety of veggies to my morning breakfast smoothies and as a side of salad or steamed veggies at every meal. Vegetables are excellent sources of an array of vitamins especially brightly colored veggies and dark green veggies. By including more veggies in my diet, I am essentially helping myself up my intake of vitamins as well, since I am especially low in vitaminA, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin D, vitamin E and folate, by increasing consumption of veggies from different subgroups like brightly colored veggies ( e.g. sweet potatoes, carrots and red peppers) , dark leafy greens (e.g. kale, collard and spinach) and cruciferous vegetables (e.g. broccoli, brussels sprouts and cauliflower), which are packed with vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and folate. Next on my list, is to increase my dairy intake by including low fat yogurt and fortified soy milk, for example, 1 cup of Silk soy milk provides not only vitamin D, but also vitamins A and vitamin B12. This will help me increase my vitamin D intake, which I was sadly below the recommendation. Also by including more fatty fish like salmon and tuna in my diet will also help me increase my vitamin D intake. Another good source of vitamin D intake is the sun, so spending some time early in the mornings without sunscreen will also help me achieve this goal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The revolution of 1917 was the culmination of a number of factors coming together and causing the volatile mix of reasons to come together and boil over. The people of Russia where fed up with the horrible conditions they had to put up with and decided to do something about it. Some factor I will discuss include the industrialization, Nicholas introduced several policies which harmed his countries economic prosperity. One thing that caused massive instability was the encouragement of industrialization. Many peasants decided to move to the urban areas in search of a better life, with the most growth in St Petersburg (55% between 1891 and 1900). These peasants found work in ... Inflation had know gripped the city with some goods and services prices rising by up to 300%. • 45. Human-To-Bear Research Papers Bears in Florida will be having a bad week in October thanks to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission s (FWC) approval of a bear hunt Wednesday. This hunt is Florida s first in more than two decades. It aims to control increasing bear populations and human to bear conflict. WHY THE FWC APPROVED THE BEARHUNT According to the FWC, hunting supports keeping population size in check, fewer bears being pushed into neighborhoods and increasing wariness and fear of humans. Bears were removed from Florida s threatened species list in 2012. About 300 bears are expected to be killed by an unlimited number of permitted hunters. Florida has an estimated 3,150 black bears in four regions the eastern Panhandle, Northeast Florida, east central Florida and South Florida where the hunts would be conducted, according to the Panama City New Herald. The numbers are based on 2002 estimates for the eastern Panhandle and South Florida, and a 2014 count in the Northeast Florida and east central Florida regions. RULES OF THE BEAR HUNT Bear permits are $100 for Florida residents and $300 for non residents, according to the FWC.
