3. THE
BEGINNING
PROCESS
AND
OPENING
Our school’s
construction began in
March 1980.
In November of
the same year, classes
began and “Rádio
Renascença” (radio
station) announced the
opening of the school to
the community, of the
then municipality of
Loures, current
municipality of Odivelas.

This building is
dedicated to physical
education. With two floors,
this lodge contains a
gymnasium, classrooms for
theoretical classes and an
indoor sport’s field that is
normally divided into two.
These eight buildings are the blocks. The school used to have
only two or three blocks, but more were built as the number of
classrooms needed increased . One of the blocks is “bar” where we
have the cafeteria. Another one contains the administration center,
the stationery store, principal’s office and teachers’ room. There are
other blocks like the AO which is dedicated to the arts department and
D, dedicated to science where students have a laboratory. We have
our library in block C. We also have the “runway”, as the students call
it, which is the connecting corridor of all blocks where students can be
during the breaks in-between classes.

5. THE MILL:
MOINHO DAS COVAS
The Moinho das Covas is a mill built in 1884 at
Ramada, which serves as a landscaping, social and economic
testimony of a recent past of our lands that it is important to
safeguard.
The restoration was consolidated on April 25, 1996.
The dream came true after nine months of recovery work. The
management of the mill is conducted by our school, with the
support of the Câmara Municipal de Loures and Junta de
Freguesia da Ramada.
In the space of the mill, apart from the construction of
the floor with old stone pavement and the addition of green
spaces, was also built a typical miller's house that has a
furnace in it which, in certain seasons, it will cook bread, to
mimic the traditional environment of the space.
10. ONE OF THE BRANDABLE DATES:
THE CARNATION REVOLUTION
One of the most importante
dates to Portugal is 25th April,
1974 which was the the
Carnation Revolution.
The consequence of this
revolution was the collapse of
the Estado Novo regime, the
revolutionary Council of
Portugal established, some
political parties formed
before/during/after the
revolution become influential in
elections and all colonies
(except East Timor and Macau)
granted independence. But the
most important consequence
was the freedom of
expression.
