This document discusses the eRaUI project which aims to develop a personalized and adaptive user interface for text mining e-research tools. The objectives are to identify different types of users, implement filtering algorithms to extract relevant digital content, design an adaptive UI with workflow capabilities to support different user groups and activities, use visualization techniques for navigation and information display, and integrate the interface with the NaCTeM tools. The anticipated outputs are an adaptable and learnable interface called eRaUI that improves usability of NaCTeM resources, a project blog, and a final report describing the approach and lessons learned.

2. Motivation E-Research can be defined as the use of networked, distributed and shared digital tools and data to support the research process for the production of knowledge. 4. eRaUI - AIM This e-Research adaptive User Interface (eRaUI) project aims at developing personalised user interfaces for text mining e-Research tools @NaCTeM ( http://www.nactem.ac.uk/ ). 5. eRaUI Objectives The main aim of this proposal is to develop an adaptive and learnable e-Research User Interface (eRaUI) for NaCTeM e-Research tools. This aim will be achieved through the following objectives: Identify different types of users of NaCTeM and carry out user modelling, Implement advanced filtering algorithm(s) for extracting appropriate digital content to match user needs, Analyse and design adaptive UI with workflow system capabilities to support different groups’ activities and learning, Use visualisation techniques for better navigation, information display and action planning and Explore the integration of eRaUI with NaCTeM, implement, test and evaluate its adaptability and learnability. eRaUI JISC 2011 - Strand C Faculty of Computing London Metropolitan University

6.
