This document analyzes equipment availability for a bottling line that produces different bottle sizes and flavors to build finished goods inventory. It finds that the filler machine's mean time between failures improves with longer production runs, allowing throughput and inventory levels to be reduced. Calculations show inventory could be reduced by up to 25% for 4-hour runs by improving the filler's throughput from 120 to 380 bottles per minute. The renewal process general point process model is used to estimate reliability over various run lengths. Contact information is provided for further discussion.
