 Gunung Capital Bhd’s unit GPB Corporation Sdn Bhd has secured a RM165 million service contract from the
Defence Ministry to provide transportation services for the National Service (NS) trainee programme.The
tenure of the contract is from Dec 26, 2014 to Dec 25, 2017, the investment holding company which is
involved in chartering out land-based transportation assets said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.The company
must provide passenger transportation for NS trainees and trainers by bus or coach for 82 camps, over nine
months per calendar year, it said.This involves allocating five 44-seater buses for each of 80 NS camps, and
eight 25-seater buses for each of two camps.
 Air Asia Bhd shares and counters related to the low cost carrier were actively traded this morning following
the disappearance of an affiliate flight yesterday.At 10.04 am, AirAsia shares shed 22 sen or 7.4 per cent to
RM2.72 with 50.85 million shares changing hands.Long haul low cost carrier, Air Asia X Bhd, shares declined
four sen to RM64.5 sen with 26.74 million shares changing hands.The shares of insurance provider Tune Ins
Holdings Bhd, fell almost eight per cent or 14 sen to RM1.62 with 7.82 million shares traded.Affin Hwang
Investment Bank said the disappearance of an airplane operated by AirAsia’s 49 per cent associate Indonesia
AirAsia is expected to trigger a knee-jerk reaction to the low cost carrier’s share price.
 The Malaysian Muslim Wholesalers and Retailers Association (Mawar) has asked the government to exempt
small timers from the Goods and Service Tax (GST) and impose it only on importers, manufacturers and
distributors.“It’s good enough to collect it from the big industry players, instead of burdening petty traders
and sundry shop owners, who will be bogged down by the software, having to collect it (GST), count it,
tabulate it and send it to the government.”
 Standard & Poor's Ratings Services says Malaysia’s property and casualty and life insurance sectors life have
intermediate risk while the industry risk is low.It said on Monday the intermediate risks were based on its
insurance industry and country risk assessment (IICRA) scores.“Our assessments reflect our view of
intermediate country risk, based on Malaysia's economic risk, political risk, financial system risk, payment
culture, and rule of law. We consider industry risk to be low for the property and casualty and life insurance
sectors in Malaysia.”
 Short-term interbank rates ended steady today on Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) intervention to absorb
excess liquidity from the financial system.The liquidity surplus in the conventional system slipped to RM23.03
billion against RM27.54 billion estimated earlier, while in the Islamic system, the excess declined to RM7.75
