 Intra-Asean trade is likely to expand from current 24 per cent to 34 per cent, spurred by zero-duty incentives on Asean Free
Trade Area (AFTA).Ministry of International Trade and Industry senior director of Asean Economic Cooperation Division, P.
Ravidran, said 34 per cent was an ideal target as intra-trades in the European Union and North American Free Trade
Agreement currently stood at 70 per cent.Intra-Asean share of total trade stood at US$608.63 billion, or 24.2 per cent, as of
July 2014, from a total trade of US$2.51 trillion in the same period.“The removal of duties will encourage intra-trade and with
Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam joing the existing six Asean countries, the region has become a free trade area.
 Takaso Resources Bhd (TRB)’s wholly-owned unit, Takaso Land, has secured a RM37.44 million contract from OCR Land
Holdings Sdn Bhd to construct a 21-storey commercial building.In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, TRB said Takaso Land would
be the main contractor for the construction of the building in Jalan Kuching, Kuala Lumpur.
 Malaysian Biotechnology Corp (BiotechCorp) aims to reap RM2 billion in revenue from 248 BioNexus-status companies in
2015, its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Mohd Nazlee Kamal said.These companies generated revenue of RM1.4 billion in
2014 from RM1.169 billion in 2013.BioNexus is a special status awarded to qualified international and Malaysian biotech
companies that qualify for fiscal incentives, grants and guarantees administered by BiotechCorp.

destination offers! Malaysia Airlines is starting 2015 with our best offers yet that are surely not to be missed.”
 The Asian Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee (ASFRC) urged the government to allow extensive use of technology in
banking including shadow banking to promote competition and efficiency, while implementing effective monitoring.ASFRC
representative, Prof Datuk Woo Wing Thye, said today shadow banking exists to fulfill a market need for both savers and
borrowers.
 Malaysia’s blue chips index closed down nearly seven points on Wednesday on selling of Genting Bhd, Maybank, CIMB and
RHB Cap, reflecting the weak market sentiment across the region.The ringgit weakened to a low of 3.6045 against the US dollar
in intra-day trade before paring its losses to firm up to 3.5938 versus 3.5950 the previous day.The FBM KLCI had fallen 6.89
points or 0.39% to 1,742.01. Turnover was 1.80 billion shares valued at RM2.489bil.
